Chapter 37: Danny Vs The Kaboom Cousins
The brawl between Monster Tiffany and Monster Katie had been cut short by the arrival of the ghost boy who had had enough of them and took it upon himself to stop things from getting out of hand
The female monsters saw him at the same time and were bewildered by his sudden appearance, mostly Tiffany, who had never seen this guy before (as far as she is concern, that is).
"WHO ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO BE?!..."Monster Tiffany yelled, annoyed that someone got between their fight.
"Someone who has A LOT of pent up stress to let out!..." Danny said as she reached for him.
Quickly, the ghost boy flew in and punched Monster Tiffany in the face. The ghoulish girl in question has never suffered such a blow to her face, and she was pushed back. The impact made her lose footing as she quickly planted both feet on the floor.
"TIFFANY?!..." Mitch called out, wondering if she had gotten hurt or not but also somewhat relieved someone is standing up to her,
The female monster was hurt but recovered from the hit, getting angrier and glared hard at the ghost boy.
"How DARE you hit me!..."She roared at him, furious.
"I'm just that daring!..."Danny quipped, arms crossed.
The two monsters then directed their anger at him while the ghost boy frowned at them. Now that he can see that they won't listen without something to make them comply, he will be pulling less punches.
"Now you see me, now you don't!..."He said as he turned invisible.
"Huh?! Where did he go?!..." Monster Tiffany went, looking around.
Danny saw this and took advantage of her confusion, realizing this was a first for her and how inexperienced the Kaboom cousin was on the battlefield.
"I don't think Tiffany's much of a fighter.. that means..." Danny smiled at realizing he had an edge.
Tiffany, meanwhile, was still complaining over the last hit she received from the ghost boy.
"OUCH! Where is that little punk?! I'll tear him apart for that!..."Tiffany howled and slashed out wildly as she looked around for him.
Suddenly, the monstrous woman felt a fist uppercut her chin, making her go 3 feet off the floor as Danny turned visible again.
"I can't lie, that felt too good to do..."The ghost boy quipped, a smile on his face...something Mrs. Kaboom noticed.
"Why does he look so happy?..." She asked while she and her family wore helmets and remained in their hiding spot.
She received no answer as the ghost boy continued to fight the female monsters, who were directing their misplaced anger on him for the time being.
The ghost boy, in turned, kept fighting and tryong to get under their skin.
"You know, I had heard that most women would be light on their feet. But you girls sure take that saying literally..."Danny taunted, giving a cheeky grin.
"YOU'RE SO ANNOYING!..."Monster Katie yelled as she tried to swat him but Danny dodged this time.
"You're as good a fighter as you are at being charming...like right now..."The ghost boy said sarcastically, aggravating the female monsters even more.
"YOU ARE SUCH A PEST!..."Tiffany shrieked as she tried to punch him but Danny reacted fast and became invisible/intangible, safe from the hit.
"Back at ya! You two are enough to drive anyone crazy with how your always whining like babies!..."He taunted as he became visible again.
"WE ARE NOT BABIES!..."Tiffany and Katie both yelled while the ghost boy rolled his eyes.
"You're right. Because real babies don't scream nearly as much as you two do!..."Danny said, taunting the monster girls more.
Katie and Tiffany both bared fangs and began to loose more of their tempers. They even morphed into larger, spiky, scarier monsters forms.
"Great, they both got a makeover...but this time, I think I know what to expect..."He thought as they charged at him, Tiffany being first.
"I want you gone! I want you gone! Gone! GONE!..."Tiffany shrieked as she tried to punch him again but the ghost boy dodged her, seeing that she is slower compared to Katie.
"Funny, I thought that about the other one for a while..."Danny said, avoiding one more fist before swinging a kick that knocked Tiffany into Katie, angering them both.
"YOU'RE TOAST!..."They both yelled at him in their more feral forms.
"Oh yeah, you and what toaster?!..."Danny taunted as he kept in the air.
With a simple hand gesture that signaled them to "come at him with their best shot", the two she-beasts snarled and charged at him again.
Meanwhile
Jazz, Sam, and Tucker watched as the monster madness unfolded. The third member was tempted to record the moment and put it on the internet, but was too scared to do so.
"Geez, and I thought Sam had a temper..."He commented but was ignored.
Sam sent him a glare but chose to ignore him for the time being. She then began walking up to help, only for Jazz to grab her by the shoulder.
"Jazz! Let go!…"The goth girl tried to force her way out.
Jazz, however, shook her head in disagreement to the goth girl.
"Sam, if this was a regular ghost attack, I'd be up there with you, but we wouldn't be much help against something like that…"The older girl said.
"I don't care. Danny needs us!..."Sam insisted, wanting to help him and get back at Katie for all the trouble she's caused them.
"And what happens when we need him to rescue us?!..."Jazz said, pointing to the dangerous situation. "Then Danny would have to spend time helping us as we try to help him..."She said, pointing at the monsters of Tiffany and Katie.
"We've helped him in battle before..."Sam pointed out.
"With GHOST hunting weapons on hand...which won't have any effect on those two she-beasts..."Jazz pointed out.
Sam thought about it and hated that she had a point. She remained stubborn while Jazz tried to explain things as best we could.
"Unless we can get my parents to make MONSTER hunting weapons on such short notice, I think we'd be better waiting behind as backup than taking our chances against the Terror Twins..."She said, hating being on the sidelines but also knowing that the odds were against them.
Reason came back to Sam as she stopped glaring at her. She sighed as it came to her that she would most likely be a hindrance right now. She frowned, glaring once more before sighing in defeat.
"Fine..." She said in a defeated tone. "But if Danny starts losing, I'm gonna star firing without hesitation..."She said, determined.
They settled for that, only going to the front-lines if needed. They just hoped that Danny would be okay like this.
Back to the fight
Danny was still fighting against Katie and Tiffany and unlike last time, the ghost boy was handling himself a lot better, mostly because they probably spent a lot of energy in their last fight and were probably running on less than half the fumes at this moment.
Either way, the ghost boy took advantage and decided to wear them out more, egging them on by taunting and cracking puns and quips at their expense (which he'd admit that he had some fun doing so), which made them sloppier and less focus in the fight.
He also used this chance to let out some of his frustrations and stress that he's been holding on to since he found out about Katie's secret.
"Hey, whats the matter? Doesn't the family that mutates together, stay together?..."Danny joked as he sent a couple ecto-blasts their way.
"SHUT UP!..."Monster Katie and Monster Tiffany both snapped as they both tried to grab hold of him.
"Hey, you two seriously need therapy! Any chance of you leaving?..."Danny joked as he stayed intangible.
As they tried to grab him, Danny playfully yawned, feeling strangely calmer and more at peace now.
"Why was I so scared about facing these two in their monster forms in the first place?..."He thought, chalking the whole thing from stress and not thinking straight due to all the insanity from the last few weeks.
Either way, he felt less afraid and more confident and sure of himself during this fight, as well as a lot of stress being released as he continued to fight back. It helps that neither of them were really that capable of fighting against an opponent that can fight back, making their strength hardly an advantage anymore.
He then decided to used his words to make them angrier, seeing as they're getting slower and even less focused.
"You two seriously need to calm down. I heard that anger causes frown lines, ya know!..." He said, striking a nerve within both the temper triggered women.
"WE ARE CALM!..." They went, shouting in sync with one another.
"Yeah, my ears disagree..."Danny said as he phased into the floor, much to Katie's surprise.
"WHERE DID YOU G-..."She was cut off by her sudden loss of balance.
Danny tripped her by pushing her foot up, making her hit the floor. The ghost boy felt a weight being lifted of his chest, getting payback on the girl who caused him nothing but grief for weeks.
"That's for touching my chest and those creepy photos!..." He said under his breath.
Tiffany, seeing Danny's arm, tried to grab him, but she tripped on Katie.
"WATCH IT!..." Tiffany shouted.
"YOU WATCH IT!..." Katie snapped at her.
Both of them were about to argue more, but blasts hit the inside of their mouths, creating chunks of ice that filled up enough that air could barely go through.
"Can you two shut it already? I'm tired of listening to you two bicker like two old ladies in a retirement home!..." Danny said, his hand aiming to indicate where that blast came from.
Getting angrier, the the closed their mouths and broke the ice keeping them from speaking. The two female monster's charged at him and managed to both grab him in their fists.
"You seriously haven't been paying attention at all. It's almost kinda sad in hindsight..."Danny muttered as looked unafraid.
Both the ferocious females really lost it then.
"NOW, YOU'RE GONNA LEAVE ME ALONE!..."They both yelled at him.
Both of them became aware of the other grabbing him and snarled at one another.
"I GOT HIT FIRST! I SHOULD GET HIM!..."Tiffany yelled at her cousin.
"I MET HIM FIRST! I SHOULD GET HIM!..."Katie argued.
"YOU WISH! HE'S MINE!..." Tiffany shouted.
"NO! MINE!..." Katie shouts.
The ghost boy had enough as he decided to end this, in the best way he knew how.
"And... cue intangibility..." He thought with a smile.
"Ladies! Let's calm down, shall we?..." Danny asked, as he phased out of their shared grasp. "I'm more than happy to kick your butts at the same time if you're both up for it..."He said, with a mocking tone in his voice.
Both monster women roared at him as they readied to throw punches. Thinking fast, Danny zipped downward, avoiding the two fists.
While Tiffany's fist went upward, Katie's went right into her cousin's face.
"OW!..." Monster Tiffany went as she fell downward.
The impact seemed enough to distract her enough for Danny take advantage and did a flash of light to blind Katie and disorientate Tiffany too
"MY EYES!..."She yelled as she stepped back and trip, not seeing where she going.
Danny smirked and decided to finish things with her cousin too.
"Time for Miss Monstrous to get some shut-eye!..."Danny said as he went after Tiffany, about to grab him.
"Hey Ugly, learn to control your temper..."Danny shouted as he proceeded to dive downward with one of his legs pointing at her.
He flew in, kicking Tiffany in the face and sent her flying into a wall. The attack seemed to have worked, as Tiffany seemed to fall unconscious. Her body quickly morphed back to human form and landed on the ground.
"Huh... so they'll turn human if they were knocked out..."He said as he recalled his last couple of battles with Katie and noticed something. "I guess I can still do some harm..."He considered, glad that he at least had something in case he has to throw down with her again.
"Let's hope that did the trick..." Danny thought.
All the while, the Kaboom family crawled out of their hiding spots and saw the damage from the battle, which was surprisingly less damage than usual.
"I haven't seen so little damage to a house, since Katie's last birthday..."Mrs. Kaboom said, exhausted.
"I'm just glad our insurance can cover this much..."Mr. Kaboom said, sighing in relief.
All the while, Tiffany's unconscious body caught the attention of her husband, who ran out of his hiding spot and went to her.
"Tiffany? Darling?..." Mitch let out as he went to her.
He seemed worried but he cautiously approached her. He checked her pulse and was relieved that she was just out-cold.
"She's still breathing... thank goodness..."He said as he held her in his arms.
Despite the stress and trouble she brings in him, she was still his wife and he still cared for her...to an extent at least. Katie's parents, on the other hand, were just happy the brawl was over and their house was back to normal...or at least as normal as it can be.
"I don't think I've ever seen anyone handle them when they change..." Mr. Kaboom commented as he looked around the house and then to the ghost hero.
Despite that they're family, he felt relief to see the destruction stopped for the time being.
"I can't believe it..."Danny glanced at the transforming form of Tiffany. "I actually beat one of the monsters!..."He panted deeply but savored his victory.
He then turned to the Kaboom family and saw them approach him, looking grateful.
"Thank you for saving us, Danny Phantom..."Mr. Kaboom said, feeling grateful but conflicted.
Despite the pity that Danny felt for them, he still felt some anger too and decided to speak his mind (chew then out).
"If you're all really thankful, then you probably do something to actually help those two girl's anger problems!..."He said, crossing his arms.
"I... guess you've seen our daughter and niece transform..." Mr. Kaboom realized.
"I have... DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH TROUBLE YOUR DAUGHTER HAS CAUSED ME AND THIS TOWN?!..." Danny shouted, pointing at them.
Yes, he knew about the curse and their life story, but he still felt resentment that they had to drag him into this whole mess, all because they thought he'd be the one to handle them.
"I... I do... we...uh...hopes no one notices..." Mrs. Kaboom said.
"I did..."Danny said with an eye roll. "I had to deal with your daughter's "tantrums" more times that I want to admit, along with some other stuff and monsters I have to deal with..."He complained as gestured to Tiffany.
Tiffany groaned as she remained unconscious. Mitch checked on her again and despite earlier, he was happy that she wasn't injured, just knocked out for the time being.
"At least she'll be fine…I think…" Mitch said in relief.
Danny sighed and shook his head, while Katie's parents kept apologizing.
"We're sorry...we didn't think you'd have any trouble..."He said, looking guilty.
Danny sighed and looked at him disapprovingly and decided to just get to the point with them.
"No excuses. This can't go on or someone is seriously going to get hurt..."He said seriously. "I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to tell her the truth about what she is and find some way to make her stop transforming for good..."He said, while the Kaboom parents eyes widen.
"Do you think you'll be able to do that?..."Mrs. Kaboom asked, not looking like she'd try to stop him, just the opposite but also fearing it might hurt her daughter.
"It's worth a try but I gotta find a safe place to do so. I might even have to take her to the Ghost Zone to avoid anyone getting in a crossfire..."He explained, almost as if asking permission to take her there.
The Kaboom parents heard this, look to each other and seemed unsure.
"Ghost Zone?..."Mrs. Kaboom said, sounding worried.
"Its where all ghosts come from and I think its the only place where her tantrums can't hurt anyone innocent.."Danny explained.
The Kaboom parents still seemed uneasy before speaking again.
"Can...can you promise us that she won't get hurt and to bring her back home safely?..."Mr. Kaboom asked, looking worried.
"I guess, monster or not, they really do still love her as their daughter..."Danny thought, nodding.
"I promise that I won't fight her unless I need to, and that I'll bring her back once we're done..."He promised.
Katie's parents thought about it before they nodded, giving the ghost boy their blessing to do what needs to be done.
"Now for-..."Danny paused when he saw that the other female monster was gone.
He went to the spot where she fell and to his surprise, there was nothing there but just an imprint of her body. No sign of Katie anywhere.
"What the-...where did she go?!..."Danny exclaimed as he frantically looked around, but she was nowhere in sight.
"WHERE THE HECK DID SHE GO?!..."Danny shouted again as he searched from the sky as he tried to search for her.
The Kaboom parents joined in rapidly as they noticed their daughter is gone. Monster or not, they were worried for her safety and also her rage in town if left unchecked.
"Sweetheart!..."Mr. Kaboom said, looking around frantic.
"Where are you?!..."Mrs. Kaboom said, worried.
"Katie!?..."Tinker called out loud, trying to find her sister, with even Mitch trying to find her too.
But, she was gone...as if she had banished into thin air.
Meanwhile
While everyone tried to look for Katie, in both her monster and human form, a pair of eyes watched them from a distance.
It was Pinky and The Brain...or rather, it was The Brain who watched the battle from a distance due to trying to find that boy with the advance technology, only to see the monster battle and get ideas, especially when he saw the town's local superhero appear to deal with the monsters.
"Pinky, did you see that?!..."The hyper-intelligent rodent pointed out.
Pinky, however, gave his usual "Pinky-ish" response.
"I know Brain, I mean watching that lady wearing white after labor day? What was she thinking?..."The ditzy rodent said, as clueless as usual.
Brain responded by bopping him on the head, irritated by his sidekick's absentmindedness.
"No Pinky, I'm talking about that monster battle and that boy with the powers! It seems that that boy and this town has more to offer than I thought..."Brain said as he rubbed his hands together, getting more ideas and plans as he chose to keep his eye on Danny.
All the while, the ghostly teen and the Kaboom family wondered where Katie went and how she managed to slip away.
Elsewhere
With Monster Katie
The she-beast was confused.
One minute, she was at home but now...she's not sure where she is. It was like the entire scenery transformed itself only it wasn't like in the movies.
"WHAT'S GOING ON?!..."She snarling, really mad and still in her monster form.
She wanted to find that stupid ghost boy and her stupid cousin and make them pay for ruining her night. As well as find her Danny so she could make things right with him.
"Whats going on?!..."She roared again, only to realized that no one could hear her.
She rammed a wall, barely making a dent as she rubbed her shoulder.
"WHAT THE-..."She questioned, hearing someone clear their throat.
Before Monster Katie would have done something, she would have attacked but that something turned out to be a new figure. One who was floating in front of her face.
She saw what looked to be some kind of blue, Dracula reject that was floating in front of her, grinning maliciously.
It was Vlad Plasmius, who stared down at her.
Well, hello there..." Vlad said, giving a faux friendly wave of his hand.
Monster Katie growled at him, already not liking him and knowing that he's trouble.
She didn't realize yet how right she was.
