Chapter Three: The Tribe of Mouse Pokémon
The egg's landing scared away a huge number of little Pokémon into close by branches. The little yellow Pokémon chittered as they scurried away. They hid among the leaves and up in higher levels of the trees. They looked back down to the foreign object and spoke amongst themselves. A boom of thunder followed a flash of lightning over the island. The creatures in the hiding were Mouse Pokémon, but better known as Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu. It was mostly Pikachu that made up the clan. On the branch that the egg sat on, an old male Pikachu, a young female Pikachu and a young male Pichu looked over to it. The female Pikachu moved a few ferns while a few others in the clan whispered amongst themselves. The female Pikachu looked at the object with curiosity. The old Raichu behind her sounded a little worried when he asked, "What do you think it is?"
"I'm not sure." The Pikachu shook her head. The Pichu climbed onto the Raichu's back and asked, "Got any ideas, Sam?"
"You got me, Brock." Sam said with a shrug. The Pichu moved to where he could get a little closer, but Sam made sure to keep him safe. They were both surprised when the Pikachu moved out of the ferns and towards the object. Sam worriedly called out, "Cynthia! Get back here! We don't know what that thing is!"
Cynthia carefully made her way across the branch towards the object. A young Pikachu from above said down to her, "Cynthia, be careful."
Cynthia looked up into the sky to make sure that there were no more surprises from above. When she saw that it was safe, the Pikachu continued to make her way across. It was mostly quiet except for the sounds of the jungle like birds and crickets. Behind her in the ferns, Sam and Brock both watched her with worry. Cynthia slowly made her way towards the object, her curiosity over it ever growing. A bolt of lightning flashed and it gave her a brief look to what was inside the object. She could tell that it was lizard like but that was it without further knowing what was in it.
When she was but a few inches from the egg, Cynthia sniffed around to make sure that there was no danger. Not smelling anything dangerous nearby, she came a little closer. The thing in the egg pushed on the shell a little and it frightened Cynthia enough to go back a step. Whatever was in the object seemed to calm down enough and the outside moved back into place despite the cracks on the shell.
Sam and Brock looked to each other while Cynthia moved closer to the object. The Pikachu looked over the object before placing her tiny paw against the shell. Her eyes slightly widened at the touch and began to get an idea of what it was. Placing her little fingers into the cracks of the shell Cynthia carefully lifted the top of the object before looking inside. Her eyes widened when she saw a baby Pokémon inside. She was greatly surprised when the tip of the little Pokémon's tail suddenly lit up with a small flame on the end. She took the top of the egg off before saying over her shoulder, "Dad! Come over here, quick!"
"Hm?" Sam said as he started to make his way over. But when Brock tried to get around him, the Raichu grabbed the Pichu's short tail before pulling him back. Then Sam warned, "Brock, stay back! It isn't not safe!"
"Oh." Brock groaned at being left out. He looked up to his father and said, "I always have to go when something big is going down."
But with a stern look from his father, Brock turned and walked away. Sam huffed from his son's attitude before turning to Cynthia and the object with a look of worry. He carefully made his way over to them. Cynthia had removed whatever was in the object and was holding it close when he stopped but a few feet from them. Sam tried to look over his daughter's shoulder and asked, "Well, what is it, Cynthia?"
"It was an egg, Dad." Cynthia said when she looked over her shoulder. She turned around and said, "Look at it."
Sam gasped in fright at what he saw in her arms. Cynthia held a little red lizard Pokémon with a flame on its tail in her arms as best as she could. Cynthia recoiled from her father's shock and questioned, "What's wrong with you?"
"It's a cold-blooded Pokémon monster from across the sea." Sam said and backed away from the little Pokémon. He shuddered when he said in disdain, "Vicious, flesh-eating."
"Blech." The little baby Pokémon said as if the idea didn't sit well with him. Sam cringed at the sight, "Eew."
"Looks more like an innocent little baby to me." Cynthia argued as she held the little one close. The baby Pokémon cooed and kept a grip on the Pikachu's fur and she smiled at him. Sam then pointed out, "Babies grow up, Cynthia."
Making it sound worse than it was he said, "You keep that thing around, one day, we'll turn our backs-" Then he said dramatically, "And it'll be picking us out of its teeth."
He heard a few gasps from the others in the clan and Sam smiled when he knew that he could keep them on his side. Turning to them while pointing to the Pokémon in Cynthia's arms he said, "Things like that-" He pointed to himself when he said, "Eat things like us, for snacks!"
A few screams came from a few of the Pikachus and Pichus. Arching a brow, Cynthia asked him, "So, what are we going to do?"
"Get rid of it!" Sam said when he turned to her. With a wave of his little paw he said, "We'll all be better off."
Cynthia gasped at his command and looked down at the baby nestled in her arms. She looked to her father as he turned to walk away with a huff. Not seeing the sense in her father's reaction and questioned his paranoia, "What has gotten into you, Dad? It's just a baby. It can't do anything to you."
"Cynthia…" Sam sighed and stopped in his tracks and shook his head. He turned to her and said, "That things is dangerous! To us and the island."
Cynthia was the one to sigh this time and looked to the baby Pokémon in her arms. Gently rubbing the baby's head she said, "I'm so very sorry, little one."
Then looking to her father again and carefully moved over to him, confusing Sam. She then stopped and said, "Okay, go ahead and get rid of him."
Sam gasps when she handed the little Pokémon to him. He held the little Lizard Pokémon before looking to his only daughter. She huffed and walked back across the branch. Sam nodded and said, "All right. I will get rid of him." Then he shook his head and said, "I mean it."
Sam then wrapped his long and strong tail around the baby and prepared to drop the baby. The others in the clan talked amongst themselves and watched to see if Sam really would do it as he extended his tail out. Sam began to indistinctly mutter to himself and tried to mentally motivate himself into doing it. When it seemed that he was taking forever, Cynthia teased him, "You might want to hurry up, Dad." She smirked when she added, "It's starting to look really hungry."
Some of the others giggled from what she said and how the situation was looking. Sam just huffed and got himself ready to drop the little Pokémon. But the little Pokémon opened his eyes and gave a gurgle before focusing his gaze on Sam. It gave a small yawn before it sniffed at the tail around him. Sam's expression softened a little before shaking his head to focus. He was about to loosen his grip on his tail when the Lizard Pokémon smiled and said, "Char."
"Aw." Sam said as he thought it was adorable. But then he fought to focus on what he was doing. The little Pokémon suddenly gave an adorable little sneeze and it caused Sam to laugh a little. But then he sighed as he had a change of heart and knew that he couldn't do it.
Bringing his tail back in as Cynthia came over. He took the baby into his arms and handed him back to Cynthia, "Here. Take him."
"It's okay, Dad." Cynthia said and pressed her head against the side of his. Then she reassured, "We'll teach him to hate mouse meat."
Sam just huffed with a nod before walking away from Cynthia and the baby Lizard Pokémon as she moved them back to the other side of the branch. The others started to come out of hiding and Sam looked back. Suddenly fearing for the baby he said, "Watch his head."
Cynthia and the others of the clan looked over to him with surprised looks. Even Sam had surprised himself by what he said. Then he tried to fix what he said by saying, "I- I mean, you better watch it. He could still bite you know."
Sam turned and walked across the branch while Brock moved around his father. Sam watched the Pichu go up to his sister and the baby Pokémon in her arms. The little Lizard Pokémon once again said, "Char." Before saying, "Charmander."
"So that's what you are." Cynthia said while the others thought it was adorable. Sam walked up to them before opening the baby's mouth to look inside. His paws were swatted by his sister and she cast him an annoyed look. Thinking back to what their father said he questioned, "This little Pokémon isn't so scary. It's teeth are too tiny. What's so scary about it?"
"Brock, come on now." Cynthia said and looked to her brother. The little Charmander smiled as she said, "Just look at that sweet little face of his." Then she asked, "Does that really look like the face of a monster to you?"
"No, not really." Brock shook his head as did the other Pikachu and Pichu. One Pichu came a little closer and sniffed the little Charmander. They looked to Cynthia and asked, "What are you going to call him, Cynthia?"
"Well, he's a Fire-type Pokémon." Cynthia said as she looked the little Pokémon over. With a smile she said, "So, I think I'll name him Blitz."
"Blitz?" Brock asked with an arched brow. Cynthia shrugged and said, "Yeah. Seems like a perfect fit to me."
Then looking down at the little Pokémon in her arms Cynthia said, "Welcome to the family, Blitz."

Author's Note: Yeah, the chapter begins and ends the same like last time. But hey, at least it's not entirely the same as last time. Plus, it seems to be a little longer too. And like in the last story, I plan to make a filler chapter. I should let you know, this story probably won't be updated as often as the last one. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
