Chapter Four: Blitz Grows Up With His New Family
A few months later…
A little time had passed for Blitz and his family of Electric Mouse Pokémon. The little Charmander was running after his adopted uncle Brock who held a berry with his ears. The Pichu had evolved into a Pikachu not too long ago and was much faster than his adopted nephew in this form. The Pikachu was simply playing with the Charmander as they ran through the trees of the island jungle.
Each time the Charmander seemed to catch up to the Pikachu, Brock jumped out of the way and ran off in a different direction. Blitz slide as he tried to turn before chasing after Brock again. The Pikachu looked back to Blitz and Brock said, "You might as well give it up, lizard boy! I'm too fast for ya!"
"Not when I'm so close to catching you!" Blitz shouted as he started to catch up again. Blitz held out an arm when he started to get close. But just as he was about to at least touch it, Pikachu jumped out of the way once again. Blitz watched him jump out of the way when he glanced back just when he gasped before smacking into a tree. The little Charmander fell on his backside and started rubbing his head from the impact with a groan.
Brock happened to look back and saw Blitz sitting on the ground. Brock walked back to Blitz and asked, "Are you okay, Blitz?"
"Yeah." The Charmander nodded as the pain subsided a little. A voice behind them made them jump a little, "You boys aren't rough housing now, are you?"
Blitz and Brock looked to see Cynthia walking up to them. Blitz stood up and shook his head, "No, Mom. Me and Uncle Brock were just playing. I wasn't watching where I was going and I ran into a tree."
"Here, let me take a look." Cynthia said and gently took a hold of her adopted son's face. She looked over it before saying, "Might be some slight bruising, but nothing too serious."
"Phew." Brock breathed a sigh of relief. Cynthia looked to her brother and said, "Don't get too comfortable, little brother. You could have at least made it to where he could have caught you without running into the tree."
"Yeah, you have a point." Brock agreed with a nod. Cynthia shook her head, "Seriously, what if Blitz had been hurt way worse."
"Okay, okay. I hear you." Brock said with a calming motion of his hands. Blitz then asked her, "Are you going to go and collect stuff for the clan, Mom?"
"Yeah, I am." Cynthia nodded. Then she said, "I got to be able to all that I can before the baby comes."
"Oh, right. Nearly forgot about that." Brock remembered and rubbed the back of his head as he remembered that little detail. Even Blitz remembered that he would be getting a sibling soon enough. He felt a little down that Cynthia's mate, a fully brown Pikachu had died not long before Blitz had literally fallen into their lives. He was told that Cynthia's mate had died defending the clan from a large beast that lived on the darker side of the island. The egg was soon to arrive at any day now, and sometime after that the baby Pokémon would come. And once it did, Cynthia would have to be focusing on the baby a good while.
"Come on, boys. Let's get back to the others." Cynthia said and the two followed after her.
They came back to the cluster of trees where the clan was living at. They walked among the roots when Sam dropped down from a low branch and walked over to them. Looking over the boys he asked, "Blitz finally catch you, Brock?"
"No." Blitz and Brock said at the same time. Sam then said to Blitz, "Don't worry, kid. Soon you'll be able to catch him."
"Heh, maybe." Blitz shrugged. Sam looked to Brock and said, "I need you to go and help some of the collectors gather food."
"What?" Brock asked. Sam gave his son a look and said, "Brock, you're five years old and have evolved. I think that it's time for you to accept a little more responsibility. Especially with your sister about to have a child."
"Oh, all right." Brock said before moving off to follow the other Pikachu to gather the food. Sam turned to Cynthia and said, "I want you to take Blitz and gather the berries on the lower bushes."
"Okay, Dad." Cynthia nodded. Then looking to Blitz she said, "Come on, my little firecracker. Let's get this done."
"Yes, Mom." Blitz said and followed after her. After grabbing two weaved baskets for the berry picking. They walked a little ways away from the clusters of trees and bushes before coming to a grove of berry bushes down a hill. Cynthia looked to Blitz and said, "Remember what I told you about berry picking, Blitz."
"Don't pick the bad ones or the ones that aren't ripe." Blitz said with a nod. Cynthia nodded too before they separated to collect a few of the berries. Blitz held the basket close to him as he walked up to one of the berry bushes.
The two picked berries for a few minutes. He started picking some when suddenly the snapping of branches made him look up. When he didn't see anything, Blitz called out, "You okay, Mom?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Cynthia said from her bush. Her ears suddenly picked up the sound of snapping branches. And from the sound of it, it sounded like something big was coming their way. Looking in Blitz's direction she said, "Blitz, come on! We're getting out of here."
"Coming!" Blitz said while grabbing three more berries. When they were in the basket, Blitz quickly made his way back to his adopted mother. But as he ran through the bushes, he heard her scream and picked up the pace. When he came to her Blitz gasped at the sight of what was attacking her. Standing on its hindlegs was a large Ursaring, the Hibernator Pokémon, and it looked really hungry. The Charmander dropped the basket and shouted at the Ursaring, "Get away from my Mom!"
While Cynthia was a little happy that he had said that, she was more worried about the towering, angry and hungry Pokémon standing in front of them. The Ursaring turned to Blitz with a growl and tried to intimidate the Charmander with Scary Face. Though he was a little scared by the move, Blitz wouldn't let it stop him from protecting his adopted mother. Blitz reared his head back before launching a Flame Burst at the Ursaring. The larger Pokémon dodged the attack before giving a roar of its name and charged at the Charmander. Cynthia was very nervous about his adopted son as he just stood there. When the Hibernator Pokémon was just a few feet from the Lizard Pokémon, Blitz shot a fire ball at the ground between them to create a Smokescreen.
The Ursaring reared up and roared as it was completely engulfed by the cloud of smoke and Blitz took his chance. Quickly running around his cleverly made trap, the Charmander ran to Cynthia who was still frozen with shock. Blitz grabbed her paw before pulling her along, "Let's go!"
"Woah!" The Pikachu yelped as she was pulled along. The two started running while the Ursaring swatted its paws at the smoke. Blitz and Cynthia were nearly back to the forest when the Ursaring came out of the smoke and snarled when it saw the two running. Dropping down on all fours it tensed its body before leaping into the air. Blitz happened to look behind him and gasped when he saw the incoming predator coming straight at them.
Blitz pushed Cynthia away from him while moving out of the way himself when the Ursaring used Hammer Arm against the ground. Both Blitz and Cynthia fell down from the trembling of the attack. Cracks appeared underneath the appendage and it turned its sights on Cynthia again.
Blitz looked up and gasped when the Ursaring stomped towards the frightened Pikachu. Getting up on his feet, Blitz unleashed a Flamethrower at the Ursaring. The Hibernator Pokémon roared in pain when the blast of fire hit it square in the back and turned back to Blitz with a glare. The Charmander looked a little worried and said, "Uh-oh."
"Ursaring!" The Hibernator Pokémon once again made his way towards the Lizard Pokémon. It reared its arm back and prepared to use Slash and Blitz was quick to prepare his arm as well with a Slash of his own. Their claws connected but Blitz was losing ground because of the Ursaring's sheer size and strength.
Cynthia knew that she had to do something fast and quick to help Blitz. Gathering all the power in her, she unleashed a Thunderbolt while shouting, "Pikachu!"
The electrical attack shot towards the two and it hit the Ursaring where the Flamethrower struck and it made the larger Pokémon cry out again. It shoved Blitz away with a push of its arm and turned its attention once again to the Pikachu. Blitz acted fast and jumped at the Ursaring. The large grizzly-like Pokémon tried to shake Blitz off when he clung to the bigger Pokémon's fur. The Ursaring reached behind him and tried to grab the Charmander. Blitz did make it difficult for the Hibernator Pokémon. But it didn't last long when the bigger Pokémon was able to grab a hold of his tail. Blitz cried out as he was swung around by his tail and Cynthia cried out in fear, "Blitz!"
The Ursaring threw the Charmander away and Blitz tumbled along the ground. The Fire-type groaned when he laid on his side and trembled trying to get back up. When the Ursaring turned its attention back to the cowering Pikachu once again, Blitz looked up. The Charmander didn't want anything bad to happen to his mother, blood or not. Shakily getting back up onto his feet, Blitz looked to the Ursaring before shouting, "Char!"
It was enough to get the Ursaring to turn to him just as Blitz started to glow like a blazing fire. His entire body turned red as he grew a little taller, a horn appeared on the top of his head. Cynthia and the Ursaring both shielded their eyes from the fiery glow. When the blinding light faded, Cynthia looked to see what had become of her adopted son. She became amazed when she saw that Blitz had undergone a Poké-evolution of his own. His claws were a lot more visible, his skin red while his underbelly was a little more white. Blitz lowered his head from the sky and looked to the Ursaring with a glare before roaring out his new Pokémon name, "Charmeleon!"
"Ursaring!" The Hibernator Pokémon roared back at the Charmeleon. The Ursaring came at Blitz with another Hammer Arm attack, but the Flame Pokémon jumped out of the way and it crashed against the ground. Then leaping forward the Charmeleon used Fire Fang when he bit the Ursaring's arm. The Hibernator Pokémon cried out in pain from the burning bite when Blitz released the appendage before jumping over the Ursaring's head. As he started to fall to the ground, Blitz twisted to where he would land on his feet while unleashing another Flamethrower attack. The attack struck the Ursaring's back and it caused the Ursaring to stumble a little.
When the attack stopped the Ursaring turned to Blitz, the Charmeleon had jumped up into the air and the flame on his tail grew bigger when he used Fire Spin. The Flame Pokémon became a ring of fire that smacked into the Ursaring's face. The blow sent the Ursaring stumbling backwards and Blitz followed up with a couple of Scratches. Each one sent the bigger Pokémon staggering back.
Blitz jumped away from the Ursaring and fired a few fireballs when he landed. The fireballs either hit the Ursaring or the ground but it was enough to cause the Hibernator Pokémon to back away. The Charmeleon used an angry looking Scary Face at the Ursaring and it did the trick as the Hibernator Pokémon became very worried as sweat ran down its face. Blitz unleashed another Flamethrower attack and the Ursaring quickly turned tail and ran off.
Blitz panted from the fight and Cynthia cautiously approached her adopted son. When she was but a few feet from him, Blitz fell on his rear and took a deep breath. The Pikachu quickly came closer and asked while looking him over, "Oh, Blitz! Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Blitz nodded, though he felt a little sore from fighting the Ursaring. Cynthia hugged the Charmeleon and said, "Oh, don't scare me like that. I thought something bad was going to happen."
"I was more worried about you." Blitz said and hugged his mother back. They looked to the side to see Sam, Brock and a few other Pikachu running towards them. Brock asked, "We heard the commotion! What happened?"
"And what happened to Blitz?" One of the other Pikachu asked. Another tilted their head and commented, "It looks like he got a serious bump to the noggin."
"Oh, that's just from my evolution." Blitz said as he felt the horn on his head. Sam looked to his eldest child and asked, "What was it?"
"It was an Ursaring that attacked us." Cynthia said and looked to where the larger Pokémon ran off to. The other Pikachu gasped and said, "We haven't seen that thing since…"
They all, except Blitz, looked down at the memory. The Charmeleon knew that it was because of the Ursaring that Cynthia's mate met his end. Cynthia wrapped her arm around Blitz's shoulders and said, "But I don't think that we'll have to worry about him anymore."
"Because of Blitz?" Sam asked. Cynthia nodded and said, "He was absolutely brave out there."
"Well, to be fair, I was mostly scared." Blitz admitted and rubbed his arm. Cynthia, Sam and Brock looked to him and the Charmeleon said, "While I was scared about the Ursaring, I was more scared for you, Mom."
"Well, at least we're both safe." She said and hugged him again. Sam looked to the other Pikachu and said, "Go and collect the baskets. I think these two have had enough excitement for today."
"Yes, Dad/Sam." Brock and the other Pikachu said with a bow of their heads. They ran off to get the two baskets while Sam turned back to his daughter and adopted grandson, "Let's get the two of you home."
"Okay, Dad/Grandpa." The two said before following him back to where they slept. They came to the tree where their family slept and Blitz and Cynthia crawled in. Sam watched them go into a little burrow under the roots. While Cynthia was able to get in with ease, Blitz's new form was a little big and struggled with the tunnel. When they made it to the end, Blitz fell into the bigger space and Cynthia stuck her head in. His adopted mother then said, "Looks like we'll need to make the tunnel a little bigger."
"I-I'm sure I can manage." Blitz said, not wanting his family to go through any trouble over him. He laid against a wall and Cynthia walked up to him. Placing a paw on his chin she said, "Blitz. We take care of everyone in this family. No matter the problem."
"Thanks, Mom." Blitz said with a smile. Cynthia smiled back and said, "Now go and get some rest, you've had a bit of a hard day. We both have."
"Okay." Blitz said before curling up and closing his eyes to sleep. Cynthia placed a kiss on his forehead laid, down next to him and closed her eyes as well. But before fully drifting off to sleep, the Charmeleon shifted a little to where he pressed up against the Pikachu. Cynthia slightly opened an eye but didn't mind it when a grin formed on her face.

A few more months later, the egg had been laid and the family watched the egg constantly for when it would hatch. Blitz was coming down the expanded tunnel with a few berries in hand for the baby when it hatched. The three Pikachu had told him it would not be long when the egg had hatched.
His mother, grandfather and uncle were all watching over the egg when he came in. Brock glanced back to him and said, "Place the berries in a pile to the side and come watch with us."
"Okay." Blitz said before moving to where he could set the basket down before joining his family. He saw behind Cynthia and Brock while looking over their shoulder. They were all surprised when the egg started shaking. A moment later, the egg burst and the four shielded themselves. When they looked again, a little baby Pokémon sat in its place. It looked like a smaller version of a Pikachu, but with a much shorter tail, limbs, ears and a small tuft of black fur under its chin. Cynthia walked up to the small Pokémon and picked it up in her arms. Cynthia looked down at the Tiny Mouse Pokémon before looking up to her brother and adopted son and said, "Come and meet the newest member of our family."
Brock came closer next to his sister while Blitz brought his head a little closer to the little infant. The baby Pikachu was lightly asleep and Blitz thought she was very adorable. Brock placed a paw on his sister's shoulder and said, "Oh, Cynthia. She's beautiful."
"So, what are you going to name her, Mom?" Blitz asked as he lightly sniffed at the baby's face making her giggle from the touch. Cynthia then said, "I'm going to name her after my mate's great aunt like we had talked about if it was a girl." She looked down at her daughter and said, "Hello, Bonnie."
"Bonnie." Blitz repeated as the baby's eyes opened for a second. In that short moment, Blitz and Bonnie looked to each other with amazed faces. When she closed them again, Blitz mentally promised himself to be a good big brother to Bonnie. Sam then said while placing a paw on his son and adopted grandson's shoulder, "Why don't we give Cynthia and Bonnie some time alone. That way Cynthia can tend to her."
With a nod, Blitz and Brock followed Sam out of the hut when Cynthia called, "Blitz." He looked back and said, "Could you stay here for a minute."
"Yes, Mom." Blitz said and turned back to his adopted mother. He sat down next to her and she placed her hand on the side of snout as she said, "I know that a lot has changed in last few days. But I want you to know that none of us think any different of you."
"I know." Blitz nodded as he understood. Cynthia smiled and said, "And I want you to feel as loved as this new child is gonna be."
"Okay. Blitz returned the smile when they both looked down. The baby had gotten one of her little arms out of the swaddle of furs and it stuck out. Bonnie moved her little arm in Blitz's direction. Cynthia smiled again as she looked between them and said, "I think someone wants to meet their big brother."
Blitz lifted one of his talons to the baby's outstretched hand and carefully placed his talon to where Bonnie wouldn't get scratched. Looking at her sleeping face, Blitz then said, "I'm gonna be a good big brother for you, Bonnie. I promise."
Cynthia smiled as she knew that Blitz would.

Author's Note: Hope you enjoyed this time filler. And the next one is gonna be a time filler as well. I know that Blitz's evolution might have been a little rushed, but to fair, we don't know much about the time between Aladar and the lemurs before the island's destruction. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
