Der- Derek!! Please! I-It h-hu-hurts so ba-badly!" Meredith sobs, with her head in her hands.
"I know Mer, I know. We're going to help get rid of the pain." Derek says softly, stroking her cheek. "Can someone get me a gurney!" He yells.
A nurse quickly comes up to them with a gurney and they move Meredith into the gurney. She immediately curls her body into a ball.
"C-Cristina, m-make i-it stop! I ca-can't t-take this!"
"Mer, sweetie, we're going to get you some medicine." Cristina says, trying to soothe her person. "Can we get some morphine or something for her? She can't handle this pain!" Cristina says loudly.
Meredith's hands are holding her head and tears continue to stream down her face. "M-Make it stop!" She wails.
"You!" Derek points at an intern. "Run and get me some morphine! Fast!"
The interns nods and runs off.
Derek kneels down next to Meredith, so that he's at eye level with her. "I know it hurts, baby. We're going to make it better I promise."
"I d-don't wa-want to be si-sick!" Meredith sobs.
"I know." He says softly.
Just then the intern rushes back in with the morphine and Derek quickly injects it into Meredith's central line. "This should help you Mer."
As soon as the medicine hits Meredith's system it starts to take away the pain.
Meredith slowly relaxes her body.
"Let's go get an MRI now." Derek says. "I think it's just her normal headaches but I want to make sure."
"I'm coming with you." Cristina says.
"Cris." Meredith whispers and holds out her hand.
Cristina takes her hand and holds it tightly. "You're okay Mer. Why don't you close your eyes? I'll be right here."
Meredith allows her eyes to close and she promptly falls asleep.
"Derek, she's not okay!" Cristina says, as they walk towards radiology.
"I know. She has to get better though."
"Do you think it's spread?" Cristina asks.
"I hope not. I honestly think it's just her normal headaches but we'll see."
They get to radiology and get her into the MRI machine. They're about to push the button to send her into the machine when her eyes slowly open up.
"What's happening?" She whispers with her eyes half open.
"We're just getting an MRI of your head Mer." Derek says softly. "Just relax."
Meredith nods. "I'm cold."
"Okay, I'm gonna grab another blanket for you." Derek says and places another blanket on top of her.
"Where's Cristina?" Meredith asks weakly.
"I'm in here Mer." Cristina says, using the intercom. "Do you want me to come in there with you?"
"Yes." Meredith weakly says. "I need my person. I'm scared."
Cristina immediately gets up and grabs a lead vest and puts it on. She walks into the MRI room and goes to stand next to Meredith. "I'll be right here the entire time."
"Meredith, I'm going to go into the other room now so we can start. I love you." Derek says and gives her a kiss on the forehead.
"I love you too." Meredith whispers.
Derek presses the button and Meredith is brought into the machine. Cristina holds onto her foot so she knows she's there.
A few minutes pass and Meredith is beginning to feel nauseated and her head is starting to hurt her again because of the noise of the machine.
Meredith starts to whimper.
"Mer, you okay in there?" Cristina asks.
"I don't feel good. My head hurts again." Meredith cries.
"Derek, she's not feeling well. And her headache is back! The morphine didn't work much! She's still in pain!" Cristina called out.
"Damn it." Derek curses. "I can't pull her out of the machine yet!" To Meredith he says, "Mer, hang in there. As soon as the scan finishes we'll give you more pain meds sweetie."
"It hurts!" Meredith wails.
Cristina rubs Meredith's foot. "I know Mer. Just hold on a little bit longer."
Meredith starts to squirm in pain. "Cris! It hurts!!!"
Cristina gets tears in her eyes from her person being in pain. "Mer, I know it hurts but I need you to stay still in there."
"It hurts!" Meredith sobs. "Please!"
Cristina sighs. "Derek, can we not take her out and give her more morphine? Or sedate her or something? She's in so much pain."
Meredith starts howling in pain and thrashing and squirming inside the machine.
"Can someone go get more pain meds and something to sedate her with??!!" Derek yells.
"I can't! It hurts! It hurts! Make it stop!" Meredith howls.
Derek rushes over and presses the button to stop the machine and pulls her out. "Shhh, you're okay. We're getting you some more morphine. It'll be better in a minute."
Meredith just sobs in response.
A nurse rushes in with the requested medication. "Dr Shepherd! I've got it!" She hands them to him and he quickly injects both into her central line.
Almost immediately Meredith's body relaxes and she falls asleep. As she falls asleep the last of her tears falls down her face.
"Okay, let's restart this scan now." Derek puts her back in the machine and restarts it.

The scans finally show up on the screen and Derek lets out a sigh of relief. "She's okay Cristina." He says through the intercom. "It's just the headaches from it spreading to her central nervous system. Unfortunately I think they will continue to happen. But it hasn't spread so that's the good news."
Cristina lets out a sigh of relief and looks down at her person sleeping. "She needs to get better Derek. I can't handle seeing her like this." Her voice cracks. "I don't want anything to happen to her. I need my person. I'm so scared for her."
"Me too. I'm terrified also." Derek says.
