A/N: All right, let's get these Pokémon battles started. This will be done in kind of a unique way. Let's see who will win the battles; the underdogs or the battling pros.

Chapter Ten: The Tournament For the Water-
Part 1: The Free For All
Drudd's Pokémon herd came down to the edge of the lake with their champions at the front. They were met by the other leaders and their champions at the edge of the lake. The Obstagoon looked amongst them all and asked, "So? How are we going to do this? One on one at a time or a free for all?"
"Considering that we have many more candidates than our new arrivals." The Arbok said as he thought about how many were on each side he suggested, "We start with a free for all. When we have about say sixteen to twenty competitors left, then we switch it up."
"Sounds fair and interesting to me." The Sceptile said with a shrug. The Meganium nodded in agreement, "I second that."
"But where are we going to fight?" Brock asked, making them all look to the Pikachu. With a shrug he added, "I'd hate to cause damage to this beautiful oasis that we got here."
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that." The Barbaracle waved off. Looking to his group he said, "We have a way of making an arena for us all."
"And just to make sure that no one drowns or anything, there are several helpful Lapras in the water." The Meganium said, making everyone look out to the lake. They could see large blue Pokémon with grey shells on their backs swimming about.
"So, we're going to be fighting out on the lake?" Blitz asked, feeling a little nervous with him being a Fire Type. The Obstagoon seemed to take pleasure in Blitz's discomfort, "Feeling scared, lizard boy?"
"Leave him alone!" Brock was quick to defend his adopted nephew. The Obstagoon looked down to the Pikachu with a glare and Brock became a little nervous. But then the Obstagoon smirked and said, "Well, someone's got guts." Then clenching is paw he said, "Can't wait to beat 'em out of ya."
Blitz growled at the threat to his uncle. The Sceptile then said, "Now, now. Let's just calm down."
"And we have plenty of supplies for the injured." The Meganium assured everyone. Dragara then asked, "So, how exactly are we going to battle on the lake exactly?"
"Like this." The Barbaracle said before jumping into the water. Everyone watched him swim away to the middle of the lake before diving down.
Under the water of the lake, the Barbaracle reached the bottom of the lake. Then with a clap of his clawed hands he then set them against the sandy floor before raising them up into the air. A large circular stone platform raised from the lake bed and headed for the surface.
Everyone on the shores of the lake as they noticed something bubbling underneath the lake before both the Barbaracle and the stone platform he created rose out of it. It stopped rising when it was about seven feet above the water. The Barbaracle looked about before feeling satisfied with his work. Then hopping down he swam back to shore and stood amongst the leaders and their champions. Looking back to the platform he asked, "Do you think that'll do."
"Mm-hmm." Everyone from the giant crowd of Pokémon nodded in agreement. Obstagoon raised his fists into the air and said, "Let's do this thing!"
Many cheers rang through the large crowd of Pokémon. But while some seemed excited about it, Blitz, Brock and Dragara didn't feel the same way.
…
(Cue Unbeatable from Pokémon)
Drudd's champions and all the other selected Pokémon stood on the giant platform in the middle of the lake. Blitz glanced behind him to his friends and family still on the shore. But he had to turn his attention back to what he was in front of him.
David Rolfe: Ohh oh-oh-oh oh-oh
I'm unbeatable
Soon, everyone started rushing forward to begin the brawl. While some would break off from their groups, others would stick together to take on Pokémon from the other herds. Brock rushed up to another mouse-like Pokémon that came at him with Hyper Fang. Brock jumped up and was able to avoid the gnashing of teeth before using his Iron Tail attack to knock the Raticate away.
David Rolfe:Walking down this endless highway
Nothing but my friends beside me
Dragara, Drudd and Tar all fought side by side against three other Pokémon. Drudd blocked a punch from what looked kind of like a frog with a swirl on its middle. The Poliwrath repeatedly punched at the Druddigon before Drudd unleashed a Dragon Claw attack. The Poliwrath was able to avoid significant damage to it as it was sent sliding back from the Druddigon. The Poliwrath came in again with another flurry of punches.
Tar was currently keeping a younger Bastiodon away by holding its head away from him. But the Tyranitar was starting to lose ground against it as he was slowly sliding towards the edge. Seeing that he was running out of options, Tar opened his jaws wide and bite down with Fire Fang. The Bastiodon cried out in burning pain and stopped its movement. It was their mistake as Tar was quick to take advantage of this momentary distraction and grabbed one of the Bastiodon's front legs. With a little effort, Tar was able to hoist the Bastiodon over his shoulder before hurling them into the lake with a large splash.
Dragara met a ghostly looking Dragon Type's Dragon Rush with her own. They collided in a large explosion that knocked a few of the other combatants off their feet. Dragara and the Dragapult moved back before the Dragapult reared its talons back and came at her with Sucker Punch. Dragara was able to avoid the punch and grabbed the arm before throwing the attacking Pokémon over her shoulder. The Dragapult smacked into the ground with a loud thud and when she looked they had swirls in their eyes. With a small humph she picked up the Dragapult before tossing them into the lake.

Advanced Battle is the ultimate test
Blitz was currently going against a four-legged Plant Type with what looked like a large flower on its back. The Venusaur extended plant like whips and started hitting Blitz with Vine Whip. Blitz tried to block each whip attack, but ended up getting smacked from them. But before he could get smacked for the umpteenth time, Blitz was able to grab the vines and was able to pull the Venusaur around in a circle. When he let go, Blitz sent the Venusaur flying until it knocked into another Plant Type Pokémon with a small tree on its back. The Torterra looked to the Venusaur with a glare before the two engaged in a little Vine Whip slapping contest. Before Blitz could go and look for another opponent, he was tackled from the side.
David Rolfe:From the earth, the land
The sea and sky
They can never win, but they sure
Can try
Blitz looked up to see a grey skinned creature with a belt around its waist and a black speedo looking down at him. The Machoke looked down at the Charizard and said, "Never thought I'd be fighting a Charizard today." With a crack of his knuckles he added, "Let's see if you can give me a good show."
"We'll see." Blitz glared as he got back up and the two grabbed the other's hand and entered a struggle.

Pokémon (Advanced Battle)
The Obstagoon was hitting his opponent with Fury Swipes against a pink creature with a long tongue. The Lickitung was able to move far enough back before coming at the Obstagoon with its long tongue and tried to use Lick. But the Obstagoon smirked before using his agility to jump over the Lickitung. Before the baffled Licking Pokémon could turn around, the Obstagoon used his own Lick against the back of the Lickitung's head. It caused the Lickitung to freeze up and the Obstagoon quickly used Cross Chop to knock the paralyzed Pokémon into the water.

The Meganium and the Sceptile were actually working together to take on a few opponents of their own. They were facing off against a large snake Pokémon made of rocks. The Onix roared down at them before rushing its head forward. Both Plant Types jumped out of the way just when the Onix's head came down. The Onix rose up again before trying to use Iron Tail. The Sceptile was quick to jump out of the way of the attack and he and the Meganium used a combined attack between Leaf Storm and Razor Leaf. Though while not doing significant damage to the Onix, it did cause the Rock Snake Pokémon to move back.
David Rolfe: From the stars and the ancient past
They come to play, but they'll never last
The Arbok wasn't fairing too well against an orange weasel like Pokémon. The Buizel kept blasting the Arbok with Water Gun. The Arbok was quick to use Screech against his opponent. It caused the Buizel to stop shooting his water attack for a moment and it allowed the Arbok to slither towards him. Then leaping through the air, the Arbok used Wrap and was able to constrict himself around the Sea Weasel Pokémon and the Buizel cried out as the Arbok applied a little pressure to the squeezing.

Pokémon (Advanced Battle)
The Barbaracle was firing his own Water Gun attack at what looked like a duck on fire. The Magmar was being completely soaked by the attack and it was causing him slight pain due to his type. The Barbaracle then jumped forward and grabbed the Magmar by the shoulders. Then rearing back he used Skull Bash against the Fire Type's face. The blow made the Magmar dizzy and stumble. Putting a good deal of his energy into the next attack, the Barbaracle fired a pretty heavy Water Gun that sent the Magmar flying to the edge of the platform.
David Rolfe: Ohh oh-oh-oh oh-oh

A shiny metal like Pokémon used Breaking Swipe to knock opponents left and right back. While some fell against the stone platform, others were knocked off into the waters below. Though it had to defend itself from time to time, the Duraludon was able to defend itself before using Breaking Swipe again.
David Rolfe: You think you'll win, but soon you'll see
You may beat some, but you can't beat me
I'm undefeatable
In the middle of the ring, a big blue and cream-colored Pokémon accidentally opened his mouth with a yawn and a bird Pokémon flew into his maw. He spat the little bird out before using Fling to toss him away from the ring. Then with a few swings with Hammer Arm the Snorlax was able to knock a few of his opponents away.
David Rolfe: There's a feeling deep inside me
And it's always there to guide me
Blitz and the Machoke were still struggling against each other as they both pushed and were separated for a moment. Blitz reared his head back and fired a Flamethrower attack. The Machoke was quick to bring his hands to his said and quickly prepared a Focus Blast to counter. He unleashed the attack and they collided. They only lasted a little longer before creating a huge explosion that engulfed much of the arena.
David Rolfe: It's in my heart and in my soul
Leading me to the ultimate goal
Blitz coughed from the smoke and looked about his surroundings. He could no longer see the Machoke that he was battling, nor could he see any of his allies and their battles either. Suddenly, Blitz felt something small and fuzzy bump into his side and said, "Uncle Brock? Is that you?"
"Blitz?" Brock asked and they ducked their heads to look at each other. The Charizard then asked the Pikachu, "How are you doing?"
"Finally lost that Raticate that I was fighting." Brock said with a shrug. Then he shuddered and said, "I think she had the hots for me."
"Uh?" A slightly disturbed Blitz asked. With a shudder himself he then asked, "Think we can win this?"
Brock only made an I-don't-know shrug and said, "All I know is that if we don't win, then our friends and family are going to be thirsty for a little longer."
"Kind of wish that the water wasn't being used this way." Blitz admitted. Looking to the smoke and hearing the sounds of battle around them he said, "It feels kind of wrong."
"Too be fair, this is never going to be like the island." Brock pointed out. Then he said, "I suggest that we suck it up and do our part."
"You're probably right." Blitz said when the smoke was suddenly cleared. They looked to see Dragara using her wings to blow the smoke away. She landed amongst them and said, "You guys okay?"
"Other than covered in soot and trying to survive this nightmare…" Brock started before he and Blitz looked to each other. Then turning back to the Dragonite he shrugged, "Doing great."
David Rolfe: You can try your best, this might be fun
You'll go down to defeat before you've begun
"And we might want to…" Blitz said as he saw something behind Dragara and pointed, "Look out!"
They all looked to see the Machoke that Blitz was fighting rising to his feet. He chuckled as he dusted the soot off himself and said, "That was pretty awesome." Turning to them he started to introduce, "Name's…"
He was cut off when a large black and white bear Pokémon came rushing up at them. The Machoke ducked down from a swing from the Pangoro before lifting him above his shoulders. The Pangoro struggled to free himself while the Machoke looked to the three and nicely asked, "Someone wanna help me with this guy?"
"I'm on it." Brock said before rushing up and jumping into the air. With a spin he used Iron Tail to smack the Pangoro out of the Machoke's hands and over the edge and into the lake below. The Machoke then said, "My name is Barry."
"Barry?" The three asked in surprise. Barry nodded and said, "Hope that we face each other in the finals."
David Rolfe: Oh oh-oh-oh oh-oh

He waved before letting out a roar and jumping back into the fray. Deep within the brawl, the sounds of someone screaming like a little girl could be heard. While Blitz, Brock and Dragara stood with dumbfounded looks, the Pikachu put his hands on his hips and said, "Well, he seems nice."
Both Blitz and Dragara look down at him with questioning looks. Blitz then looked at Dragara and said, "Uh, hey."
"Hi." Dragara said back before suggesting, "Guess we better get back in there, huh?"
"Looks like it." Blitz shrugged in agreement. Brock seemed to go a little crazy and shouted, "Then let's go out with a bang!"
He let loose a war cry and bounded straight for the battles in front of him. Blitz and Dragara looked to each other before laughing a little. Then they too rejoined the fray.
David Rolfe: Every move, each attack you choose
You think you can win, but you'll always loose
The rest of the free for all started to get much shorter as many other contestants were knocked out of the ring. Blitz used a Flamethrower to knock both the Venusaur and the Torterra from earlier out of the ring. Dragara used a mighty flap of her wings to create a Hurricane attack and knocked three other Pokémon out of the ring. Tar fired a Hyper Beam from his maw to counter a Plant Type's Solar Beam and ended up winning the power struggle. Drudd knocked a Normal Type back with a flurry of Dragon Claw attacks. Barry used his athletic skills and great strength to knock those coming at him back. Brock jumped from opponent to opponent and slapped them with Iron Tail.
David Rolfe: Oh oh oh
(Advanced Battle)
The battle went by and soon, only sixteen contestants remained on the platform. The last ones standing were Blitz, Brock, Dragara, Drudd, Tar, Barry, the Obstagoon, the Meganium, the Sceptile, the Barbaracle, the Arbok, a red cat Pokémon on two legs, the large Snorlax, the Duraludon, a white bear Pokémon and a brown bear Pokémon stood on the platform.
David Rolfe: I'm unbeatable
Pokémon
(End of song)
When everyone stopped battling each other, the Sceptile, the Meganium, the Barbaracle, the Obstagoon and Drudd moved to the middle of the arena. The Sceptile then said, "I suggest we all take a break to regain our strength."
"There should be plenty of berries and Fairy Types to help with the injured." The Meganium informed. The Obstagoon scoffed and said, "Yeah, you said that already."
"Mmm." The Meganium groaned and glared at the other Pokémon. But the Arbok was quick to say, "Let's take it easy there, folks. We're just a little tired from the battle."
"Then let's head back to the shore and rest for a bit." The Barbaracle said and everyone nodded in agreement. Blitz let Brock climb on and took off with the rest with wings.
While the Flyers and the swimmers were able to get back to shore on their own and those who couldn't got rides back on the backs of the Lapras. When they reached the shore, the respective members of the champion's herds came to talk or treat them from the battle royale.
"How are the two of you feeling?" Sam asked as Bonnie and Cynthia handed their boys a berry each. After eating the berry they started to feel a little better from the ordeal. Brock shrugged and said, "It was kind of crazy, I'll admit."
"Oh, Brock!" A voice called out and it made the mouse Pokémon tense up. Then grabbing one of Blitz's wings and said, "Hide me!"
This caused everyone to laugh from Brock's irony. Blitz suddenly felt someone wrap an arm around them and looked to see Barry standing there. The Machoke had a grin and said, "Nice job on making it further in the contest. I thought that it would have been a bummer to see you take the plunge before I could really fight against you."
"You're really good yourself." Blitz complimented with a grin. Barry looked about and asked, "Who do you think has a real shot of winning this thing? I mean, everyone wants a shot for the water and I think it's kind of dumb to fight for it when there's enough for all of us."
"I guess who ever is going to fight the hardest." Blitz answered the first question. Then he nodded in agreement, "And I think you're right. It is kind of dumb to fight for something when there's enough for all."
"I knew that there was something awesome about you." Barry smirked and lightly punched the Charizard in the shoulder. Then he said, "If I win, I'm going to allow all to have a drink. No waiting for turns."
"I'll do the same." Blitz said, not even bothering to think about such a deed. Barry shrugged, "Well, whether either of us wins or loses, let's just promise to make it to the end, okay. I want to give you my all in a battle."
"Same." Blitz nodded and held up a fist. Barry looked down to the fist before looking up to the Charizard's face and smirked before bumping his own fist.
