Chapter Thirteen: The Tournament For The Water-
Part 4- The Semi-Finals
The four remaining contestants stood at the edge of the platform as they waited to see who will be the first to jump into the ring. Blitz glanced to Tar who only gave a quick look before focusing his attention on the ring. On the other side of the stands, both Barry and Blaze stood side by side while the Machoke had his arms crossed while Blaze had his hands behind his head. The Butterfree flew over the ring and shouted, "And now we will begin the semi-finals of the tournament." Looking between the four he asked, "Who will be the first of you four to get things started?"
"I will." Barry raised his hand. Then with a single leap he landed on the ring. He pointed to the Tyranitar and had a grin when he challenged, "And I want to face you, Armor Pokémon."
"Fine." Tar shrugged, not really caring who was going to fight. But before he left, Tar looked to Blitz and said, "Whether I win or lose, you make sure that the Heel Pokémon doesn't make it to the finals."
"I don't intend for him to." Blitz shook his head. Tar nodded that the answer satisfied him and he left to go fight.
The Tyranitar soon made it onto the platform and was standing opposite of the Machoke. The Butterfree looked to both contestants and asked, "Are the two of you ready?"
Both Tar and Barry nodded that they were ready to start. The Armor Pokémon and the Superpower Pokémons' eyes narrowed and the Butterfree shouted, "Begin!"
Barry was the first to make his move rushing forward. Tar followed suit and the two ended up colliding like how some giant monsters would. The two tried to push each other back, but the two seemed to be evenly matched. Tar ended up winning the power struggle by shoving Barry away. The Tyranitar started stomping his feet and used Stomping Tantrum to shake the ground. The violent tremors from the attack made Barry stumble back. When he had backed up, Barry prepared his Focus Blast attack and fired. Tar braced himself and used Iron Defense to protect himself. The blast hit the Armor Pokémon and Tar could feel the sting from it. When he looked up from his crossed arms, the Tyranitar somewhat glared when he taunted, "You'll have to do better than that, kid."
Barry decided to go with another tactic. A more of a direct approach. He rushed forward and moved to where he did Cross Chop with both hands. The blows seemed to make the Tyranitar cringe and the Machoke followed up by dropping down and using a Low Sweep to knock his opponent's legs from under him. With a quick Thrash, Tar used his tail to knock Barry back. Tar rose to his feet and dug his claws into the stone ground. He broke a piece off and for a Rock Throw attack. Barry countered by raising his fist and used Dynamic Punch to shatter the rock. But he gasped in shock when Tar came at him with his jaws open wide. Electricity seemed to crackle when the Tyranitar tried to use Thunder Fang on the Machoke. But the Superpower Pokémon was able to back away in time before moving around and putting the Armor Pokémon in a headlock. The Tyranitar tried Thrashing his way out, but the Machoke kept his best to keep his hold on his opponent. Tar quickly built up some energy before unleashing a Dark Pulse attack. The attack did its job and it sent Barry flying off of him. With a stomp of his foot, Tar split the ground with an Earthquake attack and Barry comically flailed as he moved to one side of the large crack.
Unfortunately, it was on Tar's side as he came in and Tackled Barry to the ground. The Tyranitar's fangs seemed to have a searing feeling to them as he prepared a Fire Fang. The Machoke grabbed the top and bottom set of jaws and fought to keep them off of him. Tar inwardly smirked as the heat died down and a light started to shine from his mouth. Barry's eyes widened when he knew that the Tyranitar was preparing a Hyper Beam at point blank range. Barry quickly moved his hand from Tar's upper lip before using Strength to lift Tar's head when he fired his attack. Some of the Pokémon in the stands comically moved out of the way as the attack sailed past them. Keeping his Strength up, Barry quickly moved to where he was underneath Tar and held him on his shoulders.
Those in the stands thought that it was a risky move, but were impressed that Barry was holding the Tyranitar on his back. Then jumping up into the air, Barry moved Tar to perform Seismic Toss. Throwing Tar down, the Tyranitar landed on his back and he grunted in pain. Barry landed on the ground not too far from Tar and Tar looked at Barry with a small glare. Even from his spot on the ground, Tar summoned up a Sandstorm to give him some cover. The grainy storm made Barry cover up his face to try and protect his eyes. The distraction gave Tar a chance to get back up again and he lunged at Barry. Barry cried out when Tar had used Bite on him and buried his teeth in his arm.
Barry growled as he grabbed one of the spike's on Tar's back and pulled a pretty risky move with Vital Throw. The two ended up flying through the air with Tar once again landing on his back and Barry striking him in the gut. It was enough to make Tar release his grip on Barry's arm and Barry quickly grabbed Tar's tail. With a combination of Strength and another Vital Toss, Barry was able to spin Tar around and around in a big circle. Tar tried to think of a way out, but came up empty when Barry let go of him. The Armor Pokémon went flying through the air before and flew to the edge of the ring. For added measure, Barry brought his hands to his side and prepared another Focus Blast and fired. The attack sailed right at Tar when he came down and he cried out when the attack collided with him.
The blast knocked him away from the ring and he fell right down to the water. The Tyranitar landed with a big splash and gasped when he resurfaced. The Butterfree flew over the arena and shouted, "And Barry the Machoke wins the first semi-final round! Making him a contender for the finals."
The crowds cheered to this while a Lapras swam up to Tar to help him out. As he hung onto the Lapras' back, Tar looked to Blitz before giving him a nod to remind him of his promise. Blitz nodded back before Tar looked to the right of the Charizard and noticed Drudd standing at the edge. And the Druddigon didn't seem to happy that Tar had lost. Tar sighed as he knew that there was probably going to be a chat later. Barry gave a glance to the Tyranitar before jumping off the platform to wait to take on whoever won the next round.
"Would the last two contestants of the semi-finals please come to the ring." The Butterfree called to Blitz and Blaze.
Opening his wings, Blitz flew over to the ring while Blaze jumped over. Both landed on the ground at the same time. The Incineroar gave a few scratch-like motions before pulling a pose like a superhero would. The Charizard opened his eyes and raised his head while making his tail move in a rattle-like motion. Then throwing his head back he let loose a roar. When he looked back to Blaze they both glared at each other. The Butterfree flew between them before looking to Blaze and asking, "Are you ready?"
The Incineroar gave a growl as his answer. The Butterfree gave the Heel Pokémon a questioning look before shrugging. Turning his attention to the Charizard he asked, "Are you ready?"
A gust of air escaped from Blitz's nostrils when he snorted his answer. The Butterfree sight but still took the answer. Flying a little higher to avoid getting caught in the crossfire, he then shouted to start the match, "Begin!"
With another roar, Blitz took to the air and flew straight at Blaze. When he was close enough, Blaze jumped up into the air and turned to give Blitz a Double Kick to the face. The Flame Pokémon cringed from the blow and was sent crashing into the ground. Blitz groaned as he pushed himself off the ground and looked to the Incineroar with a snarl. Blaze had a smirk on his face as he Taunted him when he made a bring-it-on motion with his hand. Blitz answered it by rising to one knee and firing a Flamethrower attack. Blaze crossed his arms in an x stance and before the attack collided with him, Blaze made the attack disperse when he moved his arms in different directions. Blitz looked at the Incineroar with surprise before his look turned into one of determination. He spat multiple fireballs at the ground to create a Smokescreen. The large explosion of smoke didn't seem to fool Blaze at the moment as he believed the Charizard to still be in the same spot. He ran forward and tried to use Throat Chop at where he thought he last saw Blitz. But he was greatly surprised when all he did was move the smoke out of the way and revealed that Blitz had moved. He barely noticed it in time when a set of claws glowed before looking to the right. Blaze was met with a Dragon Claw right to the face as it was in an uppercut like fashion and sent him flying backwards. Sliding out of the smoke, Blaze winced in pain from the scratch and propped himself onto his elbows to look for his opponent.
Blitz's claws still glowed as he stepped out of the smoke with the same grim expression on his face. Seeing that he seemed to have gotten underneath the Charizard's skin, the Incineroar started to form a plan in his mind. A smirk grew on Blaze's face when he questioned, "What's the matter, lizard boy? Upset that I managed to knock out not one, but two of your teammates?"
"Just shut up and fight." Blitz growled and lunged forward with his glowing claws. Blaze quickly rolled backwards and Blitz's glowing claws smashed into the ground and created cracks. With a violent rip, the Charizard was able to yank his hand from the ground. He turned just when he was Tackled into from the side and Blaze followed up with Fire Fang to the shoulder and they fell to the ground with Blaze on top. While the heat wasn't that much of a bother to him, Blitz grimaced from the bite but quickly followed up with a Fire Fang of his own and bit down on Blaze's shoulder. When neither seemed to loosen up, Blitz grunted in pain when Blaze kneed him in the side. It was enough for Blitz to loosen his grip and Blaze released him as well before shoving Blitz down. Blaze rose up while keeping Blitz pinned down with on foot to the chest. With a smirk, the Incineroar sneered, "You must have been really upset that I hurt that little rodent and your girlfriend."
"Leave them out of this." Blitz snarled, but a blush came to his cheeks about the girl friend comment. That just made the Heel Pokémon laugh before saying, "It was two against one during that match and they still lost to me. If they weren't able to beat me by working together, then that just means that they were weak."
"No they aren't." Blitz said ad grabbed Blaze's foot. The Heel Pokémon yelped when he was shoved off the Flame Pokémon. While Blaze was trying to keep himself from falling over, Blitz was quick to get up and shot a Flamethrower at him. Blaze dropped down on all fours and dashed out of the way of the attack before rushing up to the Charizard. Blitz stopped his attack and caught the Incineroar's arms before he could try to land a blow. But this was what Blaze was hoping for as he twisted his body to land a kick to Blitz's face. While the Charizard cringed from the blow, Blaze dropped back down to his feet before twisting his body again and throwing Blitz over his shoulder. The Charizard gritted his teeth when he landed on his back again and Blaze kept it up by jumping into the air and came crashing down on Blitz again.
Blitz cried out in pain from the Incineroar's knee striking him in the gut. The Heel Pokémon laughed from the torture he was making the Charizard endure. Moving his neck around to pop it a little he said, "I'm going to enjoy this a lot."
Raising both hands in the air, the Incineroar readied both sets of claws before coming down on the Charizard with a series of Fury Swipes. The cuts made Blitz wince in pain and cracked open an eye when Blaze stopped. The dark grin never left the Heel Pokémon's face as he raised up before jumping back. Blaze took a deep breath and built up his power as much as he could.
"Come on, big brother, get back up." Bonnie said, hoping that Blitz would hear her. They all looked to Brock as he groaned and opened his eyes. A happy Cynthia hugged him with joy, "Oh, Brock. You've come to."
"Uh, what happened?" Brock asked and sat up. Sam patted his son on the back and said, "Let's just say that you and Dragara fought valiantly until the end."
"Hopefully, Blitz will turn this around." Bonnie said and pointed down to the arena. Even from where he was, Brock could tell that Blitz had been pretty roughed up like he and Dragara had.
Then jumping high into the air, Blaze came down to land a pretty heavy Double Kick to the downed Flame Pokémon. The impact created a large implosion and crater. Blitz cried out in pain and Blaze followed by landing some heavy punches to him. Everyone cringed from the blows with each hit. Blitz struggled to prepare an attack and his wing glowed before he landed a Wing Attack on him. The Heel Pokémon was knocked back and Blitz took the opportunity to try and pick himself up again. He shakily rose to his feet but didn't get very far with a fist suddenly bashing into his face. The blow sent the Charizard spinning before falling to his knees. Blitz clutched the spot where the punch and he turned around before landing a Scratch on the Incineroar. Blaze grimaced from the blow and looked at the scratch marks on his chest. Slowly raising his head with a glare he said, "That's a lot of guts you had. But you're just asking for a worse beat down."
"You asked for one in your previous match." Blitz shot back with a matching glare. Then rearing his head back, he threw it forward and unleashed Dragon Breath at his opponent. The Heel Pokémon was greatly surprised when the attack collided with him and created a large explosion. Blitz panted and huffed as he looked to see what became of his opponent. Glowing claws told him that Blaze was still standing and when they came at him, Blitz's own claws glowed before the two blocked the others' claws like a couple of sword fighters. The two tried slashing at each other, but they were able to parry the others claws. It wasn't until Blaze dropped down and gave a Low Sweep of his leg. Blitz ended up falling onto his side and grunted in pain when the Heel Pokémon followed up with another kick.
Blitz rolled across the ground before coming to a stop on his belly. He started to rise when Blaze dropped down with an elbow to his back. Blitz once again cried out in pain from the sharp strike and glanced back to see Blaze get up before crossing his arms. Then throwing himself forward, he unleashed a Flamethrower and it collided with Blitz. A large explosion engulfed Blitz and the entire arena. When the smoke quickly cleared, everyone waved away the remnants of the smoke, and looked to see Blitz's arm slightly raised before dropping to the ground.
(Cue SSJ Transformation from DBZ)
Sam, Cynthia, Brock and Bonnie all gasped to think that Blitz had been badly hurt as Bonnie turned and buried her face into her mother's embrace. From where he was sitting, Barry shook his head, "He can't let it end like this. He just can't."
"Come on, Blitz. Show him what you're made of." Dragara said, looking to the unconscious Charizard. The Flame Pokémon didn't seem to stir for a moment or two. With the smirk on his face never faltering, Blaze looked to the Butterfree and said, "Give him till the count to ten.
"And if he doesn't come to on his own, then a nice splash in the lake ought to wake him up." He added, making a good number in the crowd gasp. The Butterfree, having hardly a choice, flew over the ring and started the count, "One!"
"Heh." Blaze said before looking down at Blitz. Kneeling down to the unconscious Charizard he said, "Don't feel too bad. You and your whole Pokémon herd of rejects made it far, but they weren't good enough."
"Two!" The Butterfree shouted and Blitz still hadn't moved. The Incineroar shook his head, "I will admit that you put up more of a challenge than those other two. But in the end, you were all weak and pathetic."
"Three!" The shout was heard. Unbeknownst to anyone, Blitz's eye and claws slightly twitched. Blaze laughed when he said, "Maybe I'll challenge one of them again, or maybe both, and beat them into the ground all over again."
"Four!" The Butterfree shouted and it was heard by everyone. What Blaze said next was over the line, "And knowing that you're too weak to stop me, I highly doubt that they'll be able to fight back. Just making it a lot more fun for me."
"Five!" Was shouted, but it was the last number when Blitz's eyes snapped open in an angry glare.
Blaze flinched up straight and took a step back. It was noticed by the Butterfree and the crowd as a blue outline formed around Blitz. Slowly, the Charizard began to rise to his feet and when he stood straight, he growled as he took deep breaths and small flames appeared on the corners of his mouth. The flame on his tail flared with each breath. The waters around the arena started to churn and the Lapras seemed to be getting a little restless from the feeling in the air. His voice sounded a little distorted when he glared at Blaze and growled, "You aren't going to touch them.
"I WON'T LET YOU!" He vowed with a determined look. Then with a loud and mighty roar, an aura of blue flame surrounded Blitz. Everyone had to shield their eyes from the intense light. They looked to the standing flame when two black, serrated wings extended themselves and causing the blue flames to disperse. Everyone was amazed at what they saw; Blitz had undergone a great transformation. The flames in his mouth were blue, the scales on his head, back, arms, legs and tail were all black while his underside was blue. His wings had a curved hook on the point. The horns on his head were curved upward and blue tips. Both his shoulders had a spike on both shoulders that curved upwards and there were a couple of spikes on the back of his neck.
"Mom, what's happened to him?" Bonnie asked as she hugged her mother, a little scared of her brother's transformation. Brock was the one to answer her by saying, "I think he underwent a Mega Evolution."
"You think that he has a chance of winning now?" Cynthia asked. Brock rapidly nodded and said, "Oh, yeah. Most definitely now."
"Well, let's just hope." Sam said, not wanting to get their hopes up.
Over with Dragara, Drudd and the now returning Tar, Drudd looked to Tar and asked, "I knew that the Charizard species were capable of Mega Evolution."
"I didn't think that he'd be able to tap into it like this." Tar shook his head. Dragara, very amazed by what she was seeing, looked to her adopted brother and her friend to ask, "Do you think he knew about it?"
"Highly unlikely." Both the Druddigon and the Tyranitar shook their heads.
Down on the arena, Blaze was able to calm himself enough for a cocky grin to come back. With a scoff he tilted his head and questioned, "You think that this little transformation is going to guarantee you victory?"
"I don't think." Blitz shook his head. He readied his claws when he said, "I know."
"Fat chance." The Heel Pokémon countered before firing a Flamethrower at the Flame Pokémon. The Mega Evolved Charizard didn't move as the flames engulfed him. Blaze kept the attack up for a second more before stopping. The flames still raged and he laughed, "Hot enough for you?"
(End of track)
But he received his answer when a shape shot straight out of the flames and into the air. Blitz looked down at Blaze from the air and said, "Not even close."
Then rearing his head back, the Mega Charizard took in a deep breath. Then launching it forward, Blitz unleashed an empowered Dragon Breath attack. The Heel Pokémon barely dodged when he jumped out of the way. The attack collided with the arena and destroyed a good deal of the rocky surface. Everyone looked as a few stones fell to the waters below and the Lapras quickly moved to get out of the way. Blitz quickly flew after Blaze before using Dragon Claw and swiping at him. Blaze comically danced out of the way to avoid being slashed by the talons and each strike left large marks in the ground.
Everyone in the stands gasped at the turn around of the match. Blaze moved out of the way of another strike and moved behind the Fire-Dragon Type. He was able grab a hold of the Charizard by wrapping his arms around Blitz. But all Blitz did was give a glance back to the Incineroar before extending his wings. With a powerful flap of them, Blitz shot up into the air with Blaze along for the ride. When he had gotten high enough, Blitz started to spin around and it started to make Blaze feel a little dizzy. When he felt the Incineroar's grip loosen a little, Blitz maneuvered to where he was able to grab the Heel Pokémon's wrist. The Fire-Dark Type yelped when Blitz spun him around a little before throwing him into the air with Seismic Toss. As the Incineroar yelled and tumbled in the air, Blitz's tail glowed and the Charizard waited for a moment. When he was close enough, Blitz did a somersault and smacked Blaze with Dragon Tail. The extra move sent the Incineroar falling faster until he crashed down on the arena with a loud boom.
When he righted himself, Blitz looked down at his opponent to see if Blaze was getting up. But when the dust cloud over the Incineroar cleared, he could see swirl's in his opponent's eyes. Blitz descended from the sky and landed next to the unconscious Incineroar. When the Heel Pokémon didn't make a move at all, The Charizard reared his head back and gave a roar of victory while firing a pretty strong Flamethrower. Everyone winced when they felt the head, but looked back when it died down. A glow shrouded Blitz before he reverted back into a regular Charizard again. When they could see him once again, the crowd started to cheer from Blitz's victory as the Butterfree shouted, "Blitz the Charizard wins the match!"
"Yeah, Blitz!" A good number of the Pokémon in the crowds cheered. Blitz took a deep breath from the exertion. While Blaze was helped back to the stands, Barry jumped back over to the remains of the arena. The Machoke looked to the Charizard and said, "Man, that was some fight."
"Tell me about it." Blitz sighed as his body was still sore from the brawl. Barry extended his hand to reveal another berry. Though he was getting a little tired of eating them, Blitz gave a grateful smile when he took it. Barry asked with a grin, "Ready for the final match?"
"Knowing that I'll be battling against a friend in a much more friendly match." Blitz started as he ate the berry. When he swallowed he nodded, "Count me in."
The two then moved to the opposite sides of the arena to get ready for the final round.

Author's Note: Yeah, you all probably saw this coming. But we're coming up on the final round and the final chapter for the tournament. After that, we'll be getting back into the main story with a good number of differences. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
