Chapter Eighteen: New Members and Decent Shelter
Blitz's group had greatly fallen behind the combined Pokémon herd and could only see the tracks that were left behind. They followed them to keep to the trail to the Nesting Grounds. The sun had set a little while ago as they moved through rocky terrain. As they were walking, Aurora's feet started to feel really sore from all the walking. She grumbled, "Oh, what a joy. Blisters on my feet."
"I've got blisters on my blisters." Donna groaned as she kept on walking. Sam shook his head when he said, "Well, you don't want to know where I got some painful blisters."
The other three Mouse Pokémon all looked to him with grossed and weirded out looks. But before anymore could be said, a loud roar echoed through out the place. Everyone looked about as they didn't know what it was. Feeling afraid, Donna's eyes darted around and she asked, "What in Arceus' name was that?"
"It sounds like it came from ahead of us." Donna said and tried to use her towering height to see what was out there. On Blitz's shoulder, Brock nervously asked, "Okay, easy guys. What's the worst thing that it could be?"
"A Tyrantrum or some other predatory Pokémon." Bonnie fearfully guessed as she clung to her uncle. She hugged him tightly and then he asked, "Okay, what's the second-worst thing that it could possibly be?"
"Two Tyrantrums or a whole pack of them!" Aurora shouted in fright at the thought. She shuddered in fear, "Oh!"
"Okay, that's it." Donna shouted as she quickly turned around. Wanting to get as far away as she could from the source she said, "I'm outta here! See ya!"
"Oh, goodness!" Aurora said before turning to follow after her friend. But Blitz quickly moved around them and raised his clawed hands to calm them while saying, "Everybody, just stop!" Looking past them in the direction of the sound he said, "We don't know for sure what it is." Then he shrugged he suggested, "After all it could be the herd for all we know."
"Blitz's right. Let's just go and take a look." Barry agreed with him. They all started to carefully move forward and Aurora lowered her head to avoid being seen. But she couldn't help but mutter, "Oh, my goodness. Goodness gracious."
They kept around a large rock and Blitz carefully peeked around it. What he saw didn't scare him, but it did surprise him. Using a rock wall for support was an injured Tar. The Tyranitar huffed as he shakily pulled himself along the path. When the others looked around the rock, they all gasped and Donna said, "Oh, it's Tar." When she saw all the wounds on the Tyranitar's body and winced, "Man, he looks like he's been roughed up quite a bit."
"And it appears that he's been left behind as well." Donna said as she looked to the injured Pokémon with a sympathetic look. When he took another step, Tar let out a groan of pain before falling against the rock wall and sliding to sit. Blitz decided to go and see if Tar needed any help. Donna, Aurora, Barry and Twig were hesitant to follow after him. Tar took in deep breaths as the pain was intense throughout his body.
"What do you think happened to him?" Blitz asked when they came up to the injured Tyranitar. Donna looked over his wounds and said, "Looks like he got into a fight with those Tyrantrums." She shook her head, "But it didn't seem to end well for him." Then fearfully glancing about she suggested, "We should just keep on moving."
"We can't just leave him here." Cynthia argued and looked to the fleeing Bastiodon. But Donna didn't seem to share the same thoughts with the Mouse Pokémon as she kept walking and said, "We can if we move fast enough."
"Well, I'm not leaving him." Blitz shook his head. Barry was in agreement, "It wouldn't be right."
"Hey, you don't look so good there, Tar." Blitz said to the injured Pokémon. Holding out a clawed hand he offered, "Let me help you."
He inched his hand closer, but Tar just growled at him and he drew the appendage back. Tar's eyes narrowed when he said, "Save your pity for someone else. I just need to get some rest and I'll be good." With a gesture of his head he added, "Now get going."
"Suit yourself." Blitz sighed and stepped back from the Armor Pokémon. A clap of thunder suddenly boomed overhead. Everyone looked up and saw that it was about to start raining. Lightning flashed through the sky and more thunder followed after. A thudding object brought Blitz and the other's attention back down to Earth and he looked down with a, "Hmm?"
He saw that Twig dropped a piece of rocky with a pointy end at his feet. The Torterra seemed excited about something and looked in a certain direction. But when he saw that his friends weren't understanding what he was looking at, he used his foot to turn the pointy end of the rock facing where he wanted them to look. When he saw that they still weren't getting it, Twig gave them a deadpanned look and walked off. Blitz looked down to the rock before watching Twig. He saw the Torterra heading for a rock wall. But his eyes widened when he saw that Twig was heading for a cave. Blitz mentally slapped himself in the forehead and said, "Looks like we have a place for the night."
"And we'll be nice and dry too." Barry said, not wanting to spend the night in the rain. Blitz looked to Tar as the Tyranitar groaned in pain when he rose to his feet again and said, "If you change your mind, Tar, then we'll be in that cave over there."
With that said, Blitz, his family, Barry, Aurora and Donna all followed after Twig just as the Torterra disappeared into the cave. Tar watched them go and his face fell when he thought about being left alone again. The rain began to pour just as the group got into the cave. They all looked about and saw how peaceful and quiet the dark cave was. Blitz was the most grateful when he said, "It's dark in here, but at least it'll keep us dry."
"I like dry." Donna nodded while Aurora kept her head lowered to where she wouldn't hit it on anything. The four Mouse Pokémon hopped off of Blitz and looked around the cave. Donna shivered a little when she said, "It's mostly the dark part that I have a problem with."
Twig grunted his agreement with that statement as they went deeper into the cave. Donna didn't watch where she was going and accidentally bumped into the Torterra's back and they both yelped in fright. Donna quickly said, "Oops. Sorry, Twig." She glanced back to the others and said, "Such a sturdy thing, ain't he?"
Everyone chuckled with her. Aurora looked back to the entrance of the cave and cleared her throat, "Ahem.
"I hate to interrupt, but it seems that we have a visitor." She said when Blitz looked up to the Aurorus. He looked to the cave entrance and was a little surprised to see Dune standing outside of it. The injured Tyranitar was taking a few shaky steps as he walked through the rain. Lightning and thunder flashed and boomed through the sky overhead. Tar was breathing heavily as he was being pelted by the pouring water and it greatly made his wounds sting. But when he took another step forward, Tar groaned in pain and fell to the ground with a thud. Seeing that he was in trouble, Blitz quickly made his way back outside to help the ailing Pokémon. He made sure to keep his tail out of the rain as he made his way to Tar. From inside the cave, Cynthia watched and a proud smile appeared.
On the ground outside, Tar continued to breath heavily as he laid there. The intense pain from his wounds weren't helping him any as he tried to rise up again. The Tyranitar was surprised when he saw a pair of clawed feet appear in front of him. He looked up to see Blitz looking down at him. Clay then offered him, "So, you going to come in and get dry?"
"What is it with you, Charizard?" Tar questioned, not understanding why Blitz was helping him. A smirk grew on Blitz's face and he said, "At least I know enough to get myself out of the rain." Then he said like Tar would, "Now, come on, Tar. Get up on your feet."
Though he didn't show it, Tar was surprised and impressed with the Charizard. He sighed as he accepted his help and shakily tried rising to his feet again. Blitz held out his hand to help and Tar reached and grabbed it. Both Pokémon strained as the Charizard helped the Tyranitar to his feet. When Tar was standing again, he started walking towards the cave. After a few steps he stumbled a bit and Blitz moved to help him. Tar kept him back with an arm and gave the younger Pokémon a look telling him not too close. Blitz kept close but didn't get any closer as they made their way into the cave. From in the cave, Cynthia's smile didn't fall as she kept watching them. The others in the cave watched them come in and Blitz extended his tail again. Blitz looked to Tar and suggested, "Uh, you can lie down with us if you want to, Tar. It's a lot warmer."
Tar just grunted before walking over to a different spot in the cave. Blitz sighed before rejoining the others at their spot and started to lay down. Tar came up against the wall of the cave and carefully leaned against it before sliding down to sit. Cynthia looked to the Tyranitar with a sad look. She looked about the cave and saw something familiar to her and quickly bounded over to it. From the group, Aurora leaned to Blitz and said, "May I remind you that he's one of them?"
"Well, it's starting to look like that he's one of us now." Blitz said when he glanced over to the Tyranitar. Barry thought about Tar's situation and added, "It's hard to be left by those you've known for a while."
Tar was just sitting against the wall with his head leaning against the rocky surface. Cynthia soon came across a plant that was growing along the floor, walls and ceiling of the cave. Picking one of them up, she carried it into the crook of her arm over to Tar. Blitz sat down between Barry and Twig and saw that the Torterra was sleeping soundly on his side. Donna sighed and commented, "Who went and booked this trip anyway?"
"Ah, you'll be at the Nesting Grounds soon enough, you guys." Blitz reassured to keep their spirits up. Donna laughed a little when she said, "Well, when we do get there, I plan on giving Drudd a piece of my mind."
"You tell him, Donna." Blitz said with a grin. Barry punched a fist into his palm and playfully said, "You go and set him straight."
Another round of laughs went through the group. Bonnie started giggling and it made them look to see her laughing at the funny look on Twig's snoring face. Sam chuckled and said, "If I could sleep that deep, then I'd be in paradise every night."
"Honey, if you could sleep that deep…" Donna commented with a smirk, "Then you'd be dead."
Everyone started laughing again while Sam gave the Bastiodon a playful glare. Cynthia carefully walked up to Tar and the Tyranitar growled at her to try and keep her away. But it didn't work as she just came a little closer. Looking down at the plant in her arms she said, "This plant grew in many places on our island."
Tar just looked down at her and didn't do anything as she was able to make it to where it would help. When it was ready, she had some in her paw and said, "And it will make you feel a whole lot better."
Tar winced and grunted in pain when her paw touched the wound on his side. But the effects of the plant eased his pain a little. She finished applying it to the wound before wiping it off of her hands. But as she turned to leave, Tar asked her, "Why does the Charizard do this?" She looked up to him and he added, "Pushing them onward with false hope?"
"It's hope that's gotten us all this far, Tar." Cynthia believed with all her heart. Tar still didn't understand Blitz and he asked, "But why doesn't he just let them accept their fate?" He sounded defeated when he said, "I've come to accept mine."
"And what is that fate, Tar?" Cynthia asked him, knowing that it's not as simple as the Tyranitar thought. But the Armor Pokémon sounded somewhat sure of it when he said, "To die. As is the fate of all Pokémon. It's the way that things are."
"Only if you go and give up on yourself." Cynthia argued that idea, knowing that everything has a purpose. Then she told him, "If you choose to die, then that's your choice, but not your fate."
Tar just took a deep breath as he thought about her words and looked over to the group. Seeing as her help was no longer required, Cynthia told him, "Just get some rest, Tar. The plant will help out with your healing."
Tar watched her bound away to get back to her family and friends. The Tyranitar looked to his side where Cynthia had applied the plant and could feel that it was making the wound feel a little better. He glanced back at the Raichu as she rejoined the others and sat amongst them. With another sigh, Tar thought that they looked so happy to be in each other's company and thought that it would be nice to be with them too. He figured that it would be better than being alone. Carefully rising to his feet again, Tar carefully made his way through the cave. Blitz looked over to see Tar walking over to them. But before he could sit down and join them, they heard a voice shout, "Hello! Is anyone out here?!"
They all looked to see a shape moving about in the rain. Barry recognized them and said, "It's Megan."
"One of the leaders that stayed behind?" Sam asked as the Meganium was looking about the area. Barry got up from the cave floor and said, "I'll get her in."
"Be careful, Barry." Bonnie said as he ran back outside. They watched him run up to her and she seemed a little startled at first, but calmed down when she recognized him. Barry then pointed back to the cave before they quickly made their way back inside. They got out of the rain and the Machoke and the Meganium walked over to the group. Tar could tell by the look on her face when he said, "I'm guessing that it didn't end well."
"No." Megan shook her head in sadness and guilt. Then she said, "I had come to warn everyone, but judging from the intensity of the storm, I won't reach them anytime soon."
"We might be able to catch up to them tomorrow at the least." Tar said, thinking of the distance between them and the Pokémon herd. With a sigh he sat down and said, "Hopefully, this storm will keep the Tyrantrum occupied for the night."
"We'll leave as soon as its over." Blitz promised them. Looking to his friends and family he suggested, "But we should take the opportunity to rest while we can."
"I agree with you on that." Donna said with no hesitation. Tar then said, "Get some sleep, everyone."
Those with four legs laid down on the ground while those with two laid against a big rock. Sam, Cynthia, Brock and Bonnie all laid down against Blitz. Blitz took one last look about the cave before he slowly started closing his eyes. He rested his head against the rock and drifted off to sleep as the rain continued to pour outside.
…
A few hours went by and the rain was still pouring down hard outside the cave. But the storm wasn't the only thing as two shadows moved across the dimly lit ground. The shadows belonged to the Tyrantrum when a flash of lightning revealed them walking along the path. They had long finished up what they had started back at the oasis and were now seeking shelter from the rain. They both growled as they saw the entrance to the cave and made their way to go inside.
The loud and heavy footsteps that they were making made a few rocks in the cave jostle a little. It was enough to make Blitz, Tar and Megan wake up from their slumber. They all lifted their heads to see what was happening at the entrance. Blitz and Megan caught their breaths when they saw the Tyrantrums standing just a few feet from the cave. But before Blitz could make a sound, Tar quietly made his way to the Charizard and shushed him, "Shh. Those are the Tyrantrums."
"I can't believe they made it this far already." Megan said from her spot. They watched as the two Despot Pokémon were growling and sniffing to see if there were any scents coming from the cave. Blitz asked the two, "What do we do?"
"Help me wake the others." Tar quietly told him. Looking to Megan he added, "Go and see if there's a back way out of this cave."
They both nodded and Tar moved to wake the others while Megan walked to the back of the cave. Blitz gently nudged his family awake before placing a claw to his lips. When he pointed to what was outside of the cave, they quickly got the idea and got off of him while he went to go wake up the others. Tar carefully walked up to Donna and Aurora before shaking them awake. When their eyes slowly opened, Tar quickly shushed them while looking to the entrance. They looked and quickly got the message and rose to their feet. Bonnie and Brock were the ones to wake Barry up. Blitz was over by Twig and gently nudged him awake. But when the Torterra saw the Tyrantrums outside of the cave, he let out a startled cry which Blitz tried to stop by holding the Grass-type's mouth shut. Everyone winced from the noise and glanced back to the entrance of the cave. The Tyrantrums had heard the sound and started looking about the cave for the source of the noise. Blitz watched with baited breath to see what the two predatory Pokémon would do. One of the Tyrantrums lowered their head to the ground and started to sniff the ground.
Blitz didn't take his eyes from the entrance of the cave as he nudged Twig to go to the back of the cave. The Charizard quietly turned to follow after them while they all made sure to stay quiet. They nearly reached the back of the cave when Aurora raised her head a little. But when her neck touched the ceiling, she actually touched a more loose section and gasped when she caused a few rocks to move. A small rock dropped from the ceiling and fell to the ground. Donna was startled when the rock landed near her and it rolled right past her. Blitz gasped when he saw the tumbling stone and lunged for it but fell a little short. He tried to stop it with his tail but he only managed to touch it as it rolled right out the entrance. The round rock rolled into the rain and came to a stop at the Tyrantrums' feet. Blitz stayed absolutely still with a look of fear on his face. It only grew when one of the Tyrantrums lowered their head and sniffed the rock. It seemed to find a scent or two on the stone and raised their head back up. Everyone watched in fear when the Tyrantrum started moving its head through the cave entrance and the falling water. It started sniffing again and found a multitude of scents in the cave.
Everyone began to grow nervous as both Tyrantrums started growling. The smaller Tyrantrum looked around the cave for its potential prey and Blitz was suddenly revealed when a flash of lightning illuminated the cave. Blitz gasped while the Tyrantrum roared and charged at him. Blitz quickly turned around and ran to catch up to the others with the Despot Pokémon right behind him. Looking ahead to the others he shouted, "Go! Go! Go! Move!"
Megan ran back to help and fired a Petal Blizzard at the predatory Pokémon. Blitz ducked down under the attack and it made the chasing Tyrantrum stop abruptly from the chase. It roared from the assault and Blitz was able to gain a little distance just as the other Tyrantrum entered the cave. Up ahead of him, Donna was starting to fall behind and Blitz moved to help her keep going. He pushed against her and shouted, "Move it, Donna!"
From behind, the smaller Tyrantrum looked and saw that Blitz was distracted. It charged forward again with its jaws open wide. Blitz kept pushing against the Bastiodon when he suddenly felt pain in his flame lit tail and gasped when he was suddenly dragged back. Everyone looked back to see Blitz being dragged back. The Charizard looked back and fired a Flamethrower to make the predatory Pokémon release him. It worked for a second and he tried to get away but the Despot Pokémon lunged again and took his tail with its teeth and dragged him back again. From ahead, Bonnie screamed in fear for her adopted brother as Donna ran off with the family on her back. Cynthia shouted, "No! Blitz!" The Raichu tried to go back and help him, but her family held her back, "Blitz! Oh, no!"
Her words had reached Tar who was at the front of the group. He stopped and looked back to Blitz's situation in horror. The Tyranitar's minds wandered back to the last Pokémon who had died under his watch. He huffed as he decided not to be so cowardly and looked to Barry. He said to the Machoke, "Get them out of here."
"But-" Barry started to argue. But Tar just shoved him forward and said, "Just go!"
Barry watched as the Armor Pokémon raced past the others to go help Blitz. When it had dragged Blitz far enough, the Charizard turned back just as the Despot Pokémon was about to attack him. But before the smaller Tyrantrum could even hurt him, the bigger one came in and knocked the smaller one away while stepping on Blitz's tail to prevent him from getting away. The two started fighting amongst themselves and were so occupied with each other that they almost didn't move out of the way when a rock came hurtling at them. The bigger Tyrantrum grabbed the rock in its jaws before easily crushing it. They looked to see Tar now standing between them and Blitz. The Charizard was breathing heavily from his near-death ordeal. Tar looked to him and said, "I'll hold them off! Go and help Megan and Barry with the others."
"But-" Blitz started to argue when he started to get up. But Tar didn't give him a chance when he grabbed the Charizard by the arm and hoisted him up. Then with a shove to the back of the cave he shouted, "Just go!"
Blitz turned and ran to the back of the cave. But as the others were starting to disappear around a bend, he looked back to the battle as it started. Tar roared at the two Tyrantrums and they roared back at him. The Tyranitar kept himself between the two predatory Pokémon and was determined to keep them from the group. The bigger Tyrantrum opened its jaws wide and its fangs started to glow. Tar recognized the attack as Crunch and Screeched at his opponent. The sudden sound did seem to stop the Despot Pokémon's attack. The Tyranitar rushed in and used Ice Fang on his bigger opponent's shoulder. The Tyrantrum cried out from the freezing bite and its companion rushed in with a Bite of its own. Tar gasped from the pain in his side but held firm. The smaller Tyrantrum's claws glowed and it scratched Tar with Dragon Claw. That was enough to make the Tyranitar release his grip and both of them followed up with a harsh Head Smash. Tar crashed to the ground and groaned when he started to roll onto his side. But the two Despot Pokémon didn't let up when they both started Stomping on the downed Pokémon. Tar grunted with each time that they stepped on his back. When they did stop, they turned and lifted their tails before bringing down some heavy Dragon Tails on him. The blows were enough to cause a small explosion that shook the cave a little. Lying in a crater, Tar was hardly moving after the assault from the two Rock-Dragon Types. After seeing his friend in trouble, Blitz shouted, "No!"
His outburst made the two Tyrantrum look up to him and growled at him. Blitz's face fell and said, "Oops."
The two Despot Pokémon started making their way towards the Charizard. Blitz became nervous when he looked to the opening where his friends had disappeared. But he knew that he was the only thing standing between them and the two predatory Pokémon.
From his spot on the ground, Tar's eyes blinked a little before fully opening. His vision was a little hazy from the beating, but when he looked to Blitz he saw the two Tyrantrum stalking towards Blitz. Not wanting to lose another Pokémon to these monsters, Tar strained to pick himself back up. When he looked again, he saw that the two were getting dangerously close to the Charizard. The past few hours went through his head and he started to value the friendship between the two. Taking a deep breath he shakily rose to his feet and let loose a roar that got the Tyrantrums attention. The Tyranitar's eyes were glowing and Blitz knew what that entailed. The blue aura quickly followed and Blitz was surprised when it went even further than the last time. Tar's body was enveloped in a bright light and he fully underwent the Mega Evolution.
The Tyranitar grew in height and the spikes on his back, head, eyebrows, neck and tail grew longer. When the bright light faded, it revealed a fully transformed Tar. The black spots on his body had changed positions and shape with a necklace while the ones looked more like a butterfly's wings. The scales on his belly turned from gray to a blood red. There were even spikes on he knees. Tar looked to the two predatory Pokémon and said, "Let's finish this, Rock-for-brains."
The Tyrantrum growled at him before rushing back to the Tyranitar. In his new Mega form, Tar lifted his leg and slammed it to do a Stomping Tantrum. It caused the ground to shake and ended up throwing the two predatory Pokémon off balance. Then using the loose stones around him in a Rock Throw. The stones pelted the two Tyrantrum and they both staggered backwards. When the assault of rocks stopped they both unleashed Ancient Power at the Mega Pokémon. The blast managed to knock the Mega Tyranitar back a few steps and they quickly rushed at him. The two Tyrantrums' tails started glowing green and they managed to hit the Mega Tyranitar square in the chest with Dragon Tail. The blows sent the Mega Level Pokémon crashing into the cave wall. The Tyrantrum and Blitz waited to see if Tar was still kicking. Blitz breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the Mega Tyranitar emerge from the dust cloud. Tar raised his fist high into the air before smashing it into the ground and large jagged started jutting out of the ground from his Stone Edge attack. The two Tyrantrum quickly moved out of the way to avoid being speared by the jutting rocks. When it was in the clear, the smaller Despot Pokémon opened its jaws wide and an orange sphere appeared in its mouth and it unleashed Draco Meteor. The sphere of energy soared into the air before multiple projectiles shot from it towards Tar. The Mega Tyranitar crossed his arms to use Iron Defense to defend himself. The blasts hit him and the ground around him and created another dust cloud. When it ended, a blue light appeared and two Hyper Beams were shot at the two predatory Pokémon. They both roared in pain from the heavy attacks and were knocked off their feet. But they didn't stay down for very long and started to get back up again.
Seeing that they were still tough as ever even though he had managed to Mega Evolve, Tar knew that he wouldn't be able to keep it up. The Mega Tyranitar was surprised when a small rock fell in front of him. He glanced up to the ceiling and saw that there were lots of rocks barely hanging in there. The stones seemed to have been knocked loose during the battle. Tar thought that they might be enough to stop these two monsters. The Tyrantrums started making their way towards him and he came to his decision. With a stomp of his foot and raising his hands high into the air, he then threw them down to create a Rock Slide. The stones violently started raining down around them.
The two Tyrantrum stopped and looked up to the crumbling ceiling. They roared as rocks big and small started pelting them. Even Tar roared in pain when some of the rocks hit him as well. Blitz, who was shielding himself from the dust cloud, looked to the Tyranitar and shouted, "Tar! This way!"
He carefully walked into the avalanche of rocks while Tar tried to make his way towards the Charizard. Both Pokémon grunted in pain when rocks fell on them. Some hit Tar's wounds and reopened them just as his Mega Evolution faded. Blitz reached out his clawed hand so he can get Tar to safety, but a large rock ended up hitting the Tyranitar really hard in the head and he fell to the ground. More and more rocks started covering up Tar and Blitz shouted, "Tar! No! Get up!"
He grunted in pain as more rocks fell on him. But before he could go in and help Tar, he felt something wrap around him and yank him out of the avalanche of rocks. Blitz grunted when he was pulled to safety and fell on his back. He looked up to see Megan standing over him with a couple of vines extended from her body. He also saw his adopted mother standing with her. She looked to him with a grim expression and they both looked to the falling rocks with horrified looks.
When the rocks finally did stop falling, Blitz, Cynthia and Megan all rushed to find Tar. Blitz moved some rocks as he shouted, "Tar!
"Tar, where are you?!" He shouted as they all worked to move the rocks. The Charizard came to a certain spot and started digging through the rocks. He had moved a few rocks and strained when he pushed a large one out of the way. Blitz became relieved when he found Tar and said, "Tar."
"Hey, kid." The Tyranitar groaned as he weakly looked up to the Charizard. Cynthia and Megan joined the Flame Pokémon when Blitz asked, "Are you okay?"
"Unfortunately, I'm not." Tar shook his head and winced from something that felt broken, feeling that he was badly hurt. They became worried from this. But Tar had a smile and assured them, "Don't feel too bad for me. I've had a pretty good life."
"And it can still be good." Blitz argued, not wanting to lose a friend. Tar once again shook his head, "There's nothing you can do, Blitz."
That surprised the Charizard as this was one of the only times that Tar used his actual name. Tar then said, "And I want to thank you, kid."
"For what?" Blitz asked, not knowing what Tar was talking about exactly. The Armor Pokémon explained by saying, "For helping me see that there's much more to life than just thinking of ourselves."
Blitz's eyes widened and Tar then said, "And the way that you're able to keep everyone going, not giving up on them and being there for them…" He chuckled when he said, "That's the sign of someone being a leader."
"But, I'm not a-" Blitz started to argue. But the Tyranitar cut him off, "Don't think like that. You're able to inspire Pokémon. And that's a quality in a leader."
"He's right." Megan agreed with the injured Pokémon. Tar's eyes started to close as he said, "Thank you, Blitz."
He took one finally breath just as his eyes closed. When he released it, he became very still. Tears welled up in the three's eyes as they knew that Tar was gone. Blitz scrunched his eyes closed for the loss of his friend and Cynthia hugged her adopted son's side. She looked up to him and said, "You did all that you could, Blitz."
"I-" Blitz started to say. But the sound of growling drew their attention away and it filled Blitz with anger. The Charizard, Raichu and Meganium all looked to the source of the noise. They saw a spot in the fallen rocks moving up and down from one of the Tyrantrum's breathing. Blitz growled as he was angry and knew that they were the cause of Tar's death.
Near the entrance of the cave, the smaller Tyrantrum burst out of the rubble. The Despot Pokémon was covered in cuts and bruises from the cave in and breathed heavily. It looked around for its comrade and saw the bigger Tyrantrum's head lying dead near the other three Pokémon. The smaller Tyrantrum snorted to see that its comrade had been done in by the Rock Slide. It shakily walked to the cave entrance before stopping at the falling water. Glancing once more back into the cave, it took a deep breath before roaring. The roar echoed through the cave, but none of the Pokémon didn't seem to notice as they were staring at a specific spot. With another snort from its nostrils, the Tyrantrum walked out into the rain.

Author's Note: I figured that it would be nice for Tar to get a chance for his Mega Evolution. And I'm sad to say that we're getting closer to the end of the story. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
