Chapter Seven: Team Up Mission- Rubble and Goku

The night had passed since the day the team met Goku. The sun started to rise on a new day and the pups were just starting to wake up. Even Ryder was starting to wake up and had already come down to the main floor. The pups all walked in and Ryder smiled as he said, "Good morning, pups."

"Morning, Ryder." All six of them said before giving out a yawn. Ryder then said, "Perhaps we can start the morn-"

He was cut off by the sound of loud snoring. This confused the other pups as well and they looked about. Rubble then asked, "Do you think that it's Goku?"

"It could be." Ryder said as he didn't know. Then with a wave of his hand he said, "Come on."

He and the pups all boarded into the elevator and hit the fourth-floor button. When they reached it, it was the floor with the guest room. It had its own bathroom built into it. The door was open just a crack and they all peeked in. They saw Goku lying on the bed in only an overshirt and a pair of boxers on but had no covers on him. They guessed that the Saiyan must have kicked them off during the night. But the Saiyan was indeed snoring away while laying all splayed out over the bed.

"Maybe we should leave him be for now." Chase suggested. The others agreed with a nod and ducked back out.

They returned to the main floor and could still hear the snoring. Skye said, "Man, that sounds like a freight train."

"I'm surprised that we didn't hear it during the night." Rocky added. Zuma then said, "I'm suwpwised that Chi-Chi or Gohan isn't affected by it."

This caused all of them to laugh. Ryder then said, "Why don't we get some exercise in. We could throw the frisbee around for a while."

"That sounds like fun." Marshall said with a wag of his tail. All the pups quickly ran outside to begin. Ryder soon joined them on the lawn and got started by throwing it. He shouted, "Heads up, Chase!"

Chase barked before leaping up into the air and catching the frisbee with his mouth. Then with a twist of his head, the German Shepard threw it and said, "Go for it, Marshall!"

The Dalmatian started to run with it before he tripped a bit and bounced once before catching it in his mouth. Marshall landed on his bottom and looked back with a smile. The others started laughing from his silliness while Marshall stood up again. Then repeating what Chase he did, he sent the frisbee flying and said, "Go long, Rocky!"

The grey mixed breed barked and hopped a little before jumping up to catch it. When he caught it Rocky then tossed it back into the air. Then he shouted, "Dive for it, Zuma!"

The Chocolate Labrador ran after it and when it was but a few inches above him is when he jumped up. He caught it in his mouth. With a quick turn of his body, he threw it and said, "Give it twouble, Wubble!"

The Bulldog howled before running up to the incoming frisbee. He only jumped up once and caught the disk in his mouth. Then passing it to the only member who hadn't had a turn, Rubble said, "Take to the air, Skye!"

The Cockapoo yipped before jumping high into the air. But Rubble's toss had been a bit too high and it sailed over her. They all gasped as it was about to crash into the branches of a tree, but an outstretched hand caught it before it could happen. The hand lowered and a smiling Goku held the frisbee. He then said, "Man, that would have been a bummer."

"Goku. We thought you were still asleep." Chase said as he and the others looked to each other. Goku then said, "Well, I figured that it was time to get up. And I guess it was a good thing too. With a good night's rest, I might as well get started on either keeping up with my training or seeing if I can help with anything."

"Well, that's one or two ways to keep yourself occupied." Rubble guessed. Goku then asked, "So, what are you guys doing?"

"Oh, just keeping in shape while having a little fun at the same time." Marshall said with a tail wag. Goku then said, "Think I can join in?"

"Sure!" Ryder and all the pups said, thinking that it would indeed be fun. Goku then moved the frisbee and then asked, "Is this this the right way to throw it?"

"That's perfect." Ryder nodded. Then he said, "Then you just extend your arm and let it go."

"Got it." Goku said before trying it himself. Time seemed to slow down as Goku moved his arm forward before letting it go. The frisbee flew over the lawn and the pups started chasing after it. Zuma and Rocky made a jump for it, but they missed and ended up crashing into each other. Skye was able to get a little more air time when she jumped for it and at least touched it. The touch caused the frisbee to swerve and allowed Chase to make a grab for it. But it was a second too late and it kept flying. Rubble got an idea and shouted, "Marshall! Give me a boost!"

"On it!" Marshall shouted and lowered himself. Rubble ran up to the Dalmatian just as the frisbee passed over him. Jumping onto Marshall's back, Rubble leapt into the air and was able to grab the frisbee in his jaws. The Bulldog landed on the ground and all the other pups howled with excitement. Setting the frisbee down, Rubble smiled and asked, "Think you can throw it again, Goku?"

"Sure." Goku said with a nod. Then he added, "Just toss it back to me."

Rubble barked with joy and picked up the frisbee again. But before the fun exercise could continue a beeping sound came from Ryder's back pocket. Ryder took out his phone/pup pad and touched the screen. Everyone gathered around to see and Ryder answered, "Hi, Mayor Goodway. What's up?"

"Ryder, it's an emergency!" The mayor of Adventure Bay shouted in dismay. Then she explained, "Somehow, the new building that the construction crew has been working on is starting to fall apart."

"Oh, no." A shocked Ryder said, not liking the sound of that. But it got worse when she told him, "And to make matters much worse, there's still a few construction workers stuck on some high levels and can't get down."

"Don't worry, Mayor Goodway. We'll help out." Ryder reassured her with a grin. Then pointing his finger into the air he said one of his famous catchphrases, "No job is too big, no pup is too small."

Looking to the six, Ryder then said, "To the Lookout, pups."

"On it, Ryder." They all said before rushing to the Lookout. Ryder looked to Goku and asked, "Could you head to the construction site and see how bad the situation is?"

"Sure, anything else that I can do to help?" Goku said. Ryder then said, "If you can get the construction guys down, then that would help."

"You got it." Goku said and started running down the pavement. Ryder also started running into the Lookout. He rode the elevator after the pups and found them all sitting in their usual formation; starting from Marshall going to Skye. Ryder then said, "All right, pups, we've got a really big problem on our hands this time."

He pressed a button on the huge console and a video screen lowered itself. A childish rendering of animation appeared on the screen. The images on the screen moved as Ryder then explained the mission, "Mayor Goodway has informed us that the construction site is having a few bumps in the road, so to speak. I sent Goku ahead to get a good look at the situation."

"Hey there." The child rendering of Goku said while waving his hand before continuing to run. Ryder and the pups slightly chuckled at that. Ryder then said, "So we're gonna have to hurry to help out. The building has become unstable and we have a few people that need rescuing. So for this mission I'll need…" He swiped through his pup pad before it landed on the construction symbol, "Rubble."

The construction pup sat at attention and Ryder then said, "I need you to help out the construction crew to return stability to the site."

"Rubble on the Double." The Bulldog said as he stood up. Another swipe and it landed on the police symbol, "Chase."

It was the police pup's turn to sit at attention. Ryder then said, "I'll need you to keep the crowd's away in case loose material falls."

"Chase is on the case." The German Shepard declared with a grin before becoming serious. Ryder made a third swipe and it landed on the Fire Fighter symbol, "Marshall."

The Firefighter pup was the last to sit at attention. Ryder told him, "I'll need your ladder to help the construction workers down and your medical kit in case anyone is hurt."

"I'm fired up!" The Dalmatian shouted as he stood up. Pumping a fist into the air, Ryder shouted, "All right! Paw Patrol is on a roll!"

All the pups started howling as the boy ran past them and towards his fireman's pole. Jumping to the pole, Ryder twisted around it as he dropped down through the many levels. Rubble, Chase and Marshall all made their way towards the large slide and the Bulldog was the first to go down. The Bulldog was able to slide down on his paws and moved with the curves. When he reached down to his rig as the parking lot rotated, he was launched above his pup house. The top of his pup house opened up and the seat rose to its position. Rubble landed in the seat and let out a few barks and his rig quickly transformed. The shovel raised over his head and lowered itself just as the sleeping place was covered up. The backhoe shovel moved into place, the treads formed on the bottom and Rubble was ready to ride. Putting the pedal to the metal, the construction pup zoomed off to let the next pup get down.

Chase was the next to slide down to his vehicle. He let out a howl as he went down. When he reached down to his rig as the parking lot rotated, he too was launched above his pup house. The top of his pup house opened up and the seat rose to its position. Chase landed in the seat and let out a few barks and his rig quickly transformed itself. The opening closed up with a winch hook attached to it. A set of traffic cones rose behind Chase and his wheels formed underneath. Then putting the pedal to the metal, the construction pup zoomed off to let the next pup get down.

Marshall was the last to come down the slide. The Dalmatian cried out as he went down and his pup house moved into place. When it was underneath the slide, Marshall was sent flying into the air and the top of his pup house opened up and the seat rose to its position. Marshall landed in the seat and let out a few barks and his rig quickly transformed itself. The opening closed and a ladder rose a little behind Marshall and the wheels of his vehicle formed underneath. Then putting the pedal to the metal, the Firefighter pup zoomed off to let the next pup get down.

The three pups met Ryder at the bottom of the parking lot and the four zoomed over the bridge. They activated their sirens as they drove through town to reach the emergency. They soon came into the business district and could see the construction site coming up. Ryder then said into the pup pad as it was attached to his ATV, "We're coming up on the site. Hopefully Goku's gotten a read on the situation and can tell us what we're dealing with when we get there."

"Roger that, Ryder." Chase said from his left. The four were able to pull into the construction yard and stopped when they saw the Saiyan. Goku turned to them and waved to them as Ryder, Chase, Marshall and Rubble all got out or off their vehicles. The four came up running up to him and Ryder asked, "So what's the situation here, Goku?"

"Well, it is a bit of a pickle. Most of the building is really unstable." Goku said as he looked back up to the structure. He looked about and said, "We've got a few guys a lot closer to the ground, but there are a few guys much closer to the top." Looking to the Dalmatian he said, "Marshall will be able to get the guys closer to the ground, but I'll go and get those up top."

"But what about the unsound building?" Rubble asked as the building was starting to creak, "It could start collapsing."

"Then we had better move fast, huh?" Goku said with a grin. Ryder then said, "Let's let Marshall get the guys closer to the ground first."

"Okay, Ryder." Marshall said before he ran back to his Fire truck. Hopping back into his vehicle, Marshall turned it on and began driving it around the construction yard. As he started coming towards them, Ryder looked to Chase and said, "Chase, go and make sure that no civilians get too close."

"On it, Ryder, sir." Chase said with a nod before running out of the yard. As he passed them, Marshall said, "Tell me where to go, Goku."

"Uh, okay." Goku said as he followed after the fire pup. Coming to a stop in a spot, Goku pointed up and said, "There are about two guys on the second level here, Marshall."

"Okay, Goku!" Marshall shouted. Then looking behind him he barked, "Arf! Ladder up!"

The ladder followed the command and began to rise while Marshall backed up to the building. He stopped when his ladder was just a few inches from the platform. Then hopping out of his seat, Marshall started climbing up the ladder. Goku watched as the Dalmatian continued to climb and said, "You know, I've never seen a dog climb up a ladder before."

"Well, you have seen plenty of other things that I may never get to see." Marshall reminded as he kept his gaze up the ladder. Goku chuckled and said, "Yeah, I guess that's true."

Marshall made to the top of the ladder and could see a few of the construction workers. He then barked to them, "Okay, you guys. You can come over and climb down the ladder."

"Oh, we would." One of the construction workers said. But a second then said, "If there wasn't a huge gap between us and youse."

"Huh?" Marshall said before looking down at the floor between him and those that needed saving. His eyes did indeed widen when he saw that most of the floor boards had fallen and there was no way to get across. Marshall thought for a moment before an idea came to him. Glancing down he shouted, "Hey, Goku!"

"Yeah, Marshall?" Goku shouted back up to him. Marshall then asked, "I kind of need your help for this one. Do you think that you can come up and lend me some help?"

"Uh, sure." Goku said before awkwardly climbing up the fire truck. When he stood towards the ladder, he carefully made his way up. Marshall had moved to a safe spot next to his ladder and Goku was able to make it to the top. He immediately saw the problem and said, "Yeah, I guess that would be something to really worry about."

"Think you can get them across?" Marshall asked, though he knew that the Saiyan could do it. Goku nodded and said, "Yeah, I can get them across. And I may not have to make many trips."

"True." Marshall nodded in agreement. Goku stood up on the metal beam and carefully tried to find his balance. When he was stable, Goku then told them, "Don't worry, fellas. You're in good hands."

"You sure about this, Marshall?" One of the construction guys asked. The Dalmatian nodded and said, "Don't worry, Goku's got you guys covered."

"Covered with what?" Goku asked in confusion. Marshall looked at him and said, "Uh, I, uh…" Then he shook his head, "Uh, never mind."

"Hmm." Goku said before looking back to the construction workers. Moving his feet into the right positions, Goku then disappeared and it surprised the men. He reappeared right in front of them and they became startled by it. Goku then put his hands up in a calming manner and said, "Easy, there, you guys. I'm just here to help."

"Oh, yeah." The first construction worker skeptically said. Then he asked, "How?"

Instead of giving an explanation, Goku grabbed two construction workers' wrists before jumping back. They let out screams before they disappeared with Goku. They reappeared on the beam where Marshall stood and Goku let the screaming men go. They looked about where they were before feeling their bodies to make sure that they were there. Marshall chuckled and said, "Just make your way down the ladder, you guys. You'll be on the ground in no time."

"Thanks, Marshall." The first construction worker said. They both glanced to Goku and he said, "And to you too, I guess."

"It was no problem." Goku said as the two started climbing down. Their attention had returned to the last two construction guys. Goku then asked, "You guys ready?"

"I don't know." One of them said, feeling uncertain about it. Goku reassured them by saying, "Don't worry. I've got you."

Then moving again, he disappeared and reappeared before them once again startling the two men. Goku quickly grabbed their wrists before disappearing again. When they were back on Marshall's side of the gap, Goku let them go and they hurried down the ladder. Suddenly, the platform that the men had been standing on started groaning before collapsing. Goku then said, "Marshall, you might want to-"

"I'm in agreement with you there." Marshall said as he started climbing back down the ladder. Goku hopped down from the level and most of everyone gasped. But neither Ryder nor the pups were scared when Goku landed safely to the ground. Marshall soon joined them and hopped out of his fire truck. The Dalmatian then asked, "So, how many do we have up to up there?"

"Twelve." Goku and one the construction workers said at the same time. The man looked to Goku and asked, "Uh, how did you know that?"

"Oh, I could sense your friends' energies from down here and I could count twelve of them." Goku explained. The construction workers just gave him odd looks and Goku said, "I'll head up there and see how I can get them down."

"Uh, how are you gonna get up there?" A construction worker asked. Goku then said, "I have my ways."

Then without warning, Goku leapt up into the air and landed on the metal beam of the first level. Everyone was once again amazed by it and Goku jumped up again. He rebounded off a vertical support beam before continuing his way up. Everyone down below was really amazed by it. Even Chase, who was supposed to be keeping the crowds back, had turned to watch. Some people gathered and were murmuring amongst themselves. As Goku leapt to another vertical support beam, a construction worker's eyes widened and shouted, "Watch out! That one's loose."

"Huh?" Goku asked as he glanced down. His foot touched the beam and he only applied a little force to it. But it seemed to be enough to push it out of place. Everyone and the Saiyan put on a worried face when it tilted to the side. Goku quickly jumped away from it as it started falling. Goku then thought as he kept going, I better hurry up and get to those guys.

When he reached the top, Goku looked around for the remaining construction workers. He could see them hanging on to a few beams. Goku looked down and saw that there was only one beam that allowed him to get to them. Taking a tentative step, Goku stopped when he felt the building really starting to shake. Removing his foot, the building temporarily calmed down a little. An idea came to Goku and he said to the construction workers, "Hang on, guys. I've got an idea."

He placed his index and middle finger up to his forehead, Goku concentrated for a second. Then in a flash like before he was gone and then reappeared in front of all twelve guys. Making sure that everyone was there, Goku then told them, "Two of you place your hands on my shoulders and the others hang onto them as well."

Seeing as they didn't have much of a choice, plus the floor boards started creaking under them. They placed their hands how Goku had told them. When they were all doing as they were told, Goku then repeated his steps from earlier and performed the Instant Transmission technique. The Saiyan and the construction workers vanished and reappeared back on the ground with the others. Each of the construction workers looked to around before giving a sigh of relief that they were now safe. Each of the construction workers grabbed both of Goku's hands and started shaking it and saying, "Oh, thank you. Thank you."

"Uh, you're welcome." Goku said as they continued to shake his hands. Marshall came up and asked, "Anyone hurt?"

"I think we're good, Marshall." One of the construction workers reassured him. Ryder then said, "Since there all down and safe, we can start getting the site back on track."

"And we'll be able to help out too." The lead construction worker said. Goku then asked, "So where do we start?"

"I suggest you guys should start with that." Chase said from the side. They all looked to where the German Shepard was pointing and could see a giant, metal beam. The construction workers all let out gasps and Goku quickly moved underneath it. Holding his hands up, he caught the piece and slightly bent his knees when it came down. Everyone had looked away in case the worse had happened, but when Rubble looked back he smiled and shouted, "He's okay!"

Ryder, Marshall, Chase, the crowd and the audience all looked and saw a smiling Goku holding up the metal beam. Goku looked to them and asked, "You guys still need this, right?"

All the construction workers behind Ryder and the two pups fell onto their backs with their legs up in the air. The Paw Patrol started laughing while Goku just stood there. The lead construction worker got back up and said, "Uh, yeah. We still need that."

"We'll just need to strap it to the crane to lift it again." Rubble said. Ryder looked to the construction guys and said, "You might want to give Goku a hard hat, just in case."

"Right." One of them said as they moved out to get their job back on track. One of the construction workers placed a hard hat on Goku's head while guiding him. Goku made sure to watch where he swung the beam in his hands to avoid hitting someone. The construction worker then pointed to the crane and said, "Now just stand right there."

Goku did as instructed and stayed still while some of the others came with cables attached to the crane. But as Goku stayed perfectly still, a he felt a sudden energy somewhere close by. Glancing around, Goku couldn't see anything except construction materials, the workers and his friends. When the metal beam had been removed from his hands, Goku walked away for moment. He could feel the energy coming from behind the fence, but when he started looking around the wooden barrier, the energy suddenly disappeared and dropped off somewhere else. Goku looked down both sides of the street to see if anything was out of the ordinary. But before he could get any further, a voice said from behind, "Hey, Goku!"

The Saiyan looked back to see Rubble walking up to him. Deciding to put the odd energy at the back of his mind for now, Goku then said, "What's up, Rubble?"

"Some of the construction guys are needing a little help to keep something heavy in place. Could you please help them?" Rubble politely asked. Goku nodded with a smile and said, "Sure."

Goku followed the Bulldog to where he was needed and saw a few construction guys trying to lift a beam. When they saw the two coming, one of them asked, "While we get it attached, could hold it up for us?"

"No problem." Goku said before moving towards them and getting a good grip on the beam. When he had it and they moved it into place, Goku nodded to the construction workers. They quickly began attaching the beam to the support. When it was finished, they gave the all clear. Goku let it go and took a step back. The boss then informed, "We're gonna need a few holes dug so we can start placing a few new beams. And after that we'll call it a day."

"Don't you want to get even more finished?" Rubble asked. But the construction boss just shook his head and said, "Not today. This accident was kind of a scare for me and my men. I think we might need a little time to calm down. But we should be able to pick up again in two or three days."

"Okay." Rubble nodded as he understood. Turning to Goku he asked, "Want to help me dig some holes, Goku?"

"Sure." Goku said. The construction workers then led them to where they needed the new holes. Rubble got started by barking at his pup pack, "Ruff! Shovel!"

The pup pack obeyed by the back extending out and a miniature backhoe shovel extending. Goku then asked, "How do I help out, Rubble?"

"Uh, do you know any techniques that might help you dig holes?" Rubble asked, as he hadn't thought of how Goku was going to be able to help here. Goku snapped his fingers and said, "I think I might have an idea." Turning away from the Bulldog, Goku then said, "Remember when I told you guys when I buried Vegeta on Planet Namek?"

Rubble nodded and Goku said, "It went a little something kind of like this."

Then gathering enough Ki into his palm, Goku punched the ground it sent enough dirt flying from the spot. Rubble had dropped to the ground and covered his head with his paws. When he looked back up, he saw a hole in front of Goku. Getting up and walking over to it, Goku asked him as he looked down, "Think that's deep enough?"

"Oh, that's plenty deep, Goku." Rubble said with an impressed grin. Ryder, Marshall and Chase all walked over to them and the leader asked, "Hey, guys? How's it going over here?"

"Pretty good, considering that Goku's got one hole already dug." Rubble said as he continued to gaze down into the hole. Marshall and Chase came to the edge and looked down as well. Both pups were amazed and said, "Whoa."

"Maybe Chase and Marshall can help out too." Ryder suggested. The four smiled and Rubble said, "That's a great idea. We might not get done as quick as Goku, but with us all pitching in we'll be able to get a lot done."

"Sounds good to me." Goku agreed. Ryder then said, "I'll check in on you guys in a bit. I want to talk to the boss about what exactly happened here." He looked a little puzzled as he gazed about, "A construction site falling apart at this magnitude just doesn't seem like a coincidence to me."

"Maybe it has something do with that strange energy I felt earlier." Goku added while preparing to repeat his earlier action. Ryder and the pups all looked to him and the boy asked, "Strange energy?"

"Yeah…" Goku said before punching the ground again and another large hole appearing. He looked to the four and said, "While I was helping out with that metal beam, I sensed an odd energy coming from behind the fence.

"But when I went to go see what it was, it had vanished." Goku finished as he moved to another spot. Ryder thought about it and said, "I'm still gonna go and talk to the boss and see if he's seen anything."

"We'll keep working over here, Ryder." Rubble said as he, Chase and Marshall all got to work on digging one of the holes. The sound of the ground exploding not too far from them made them all look to Goku as he had dug another hole.

It took a little time, mostly for the pups, and the holes had all been dug out. Goku, Rubble, Marshall and Chase all stood side by side and were covered from head to toe in sweat and dirt. Ryder walked over and saw their progress, "Wow. You guys sure did such a great job."

"Thanks, Ryder." All four said with grins. Ryder then told them, "I just finished talking with the boss and he told me that nothing looked to be out of the ordinary when the whole thing started."

"So, what could have caused a construction site to go weirdly out of control?" Goku asked, really confused about it. Placing his hand to his chin as he thought about it, Ryder then said, "I don't know. But we'll have to keep an eye out for more odd occurrences."

The construction boss and his workers all walked up to Goku, Ryder and the pups. The leader of the group then said, "We all want to thank you guys again. You Paw Patrollers sure saved us."

"It was no problem." Ryder said with a smile. Goku handed one of the construction worker's his hard hat and received another hand shake. Then he said, "Whenever you're in trouble, just yelp for help."

They all chuckled to this. Ryder then said to his friends, "Come on, you guys. Let's go home."

"Right." They all said. But as they were leaving, a set of eyes was watching them from a roof across the street. The owner of the eyes gave a small cackle before disappearing back into the shadows.

Author's Note: I know that Goku and Rubble didn't really interact all that much in this chapter, but I'll do better next time and with the next pup. Hope Goku's ready to do some recycle work, 'cause he's going to need it. And since I ended the chapter like I said I would, I'll start the chapters the same way too. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
