A/N: I am so sorry it's taken me so long to update this story! I know where this story is going but it's a bit slow since I'm doing everything on my phone. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 2

Lena's POV

Days passed and everyone seemed to notice I had been in a better mood. I always treated my employees well but, because of my brother, they were guarded around me. Now, they aren't as much. Instead of a fake smile in the hallway, they were real ones. "Jess, I'm having a lunch meeting with Ms. Danvers from CatCo today. Could you hold all of my calls after she arrives?"

"Of course, Ms. Luthor. Should I allow her to enter right away?"

"Yes, please." As if on cue, the perky reporter exited the far elevator. Her step faltered when she saw me. A slight blush tinted her cheeks. "Ms. Danvers, I was just talking about you. Please, come in." Allowing the woman entrance, I could feel Jess' knowing smile. Closing the door behind us, I took the to-go bag from Kara. "It's good to see you. What was this amazing news you wanted to tell me?"

Green eyes flashed upwards. "Uh…Do you remember my aunt that I told you about?"

What was she looking at? "Yes, you said she was gone." Setting the bag down, I took a seat on the leather couch.

"Well long story, that I can't fully tell you now, short, she's alive. She's currently living with me." Kara was nearly bouncing with excitement.

"That's amazing news. I'm so happy for you." I'm glad she has another family member who survived.

"Thanks! Oh, I totally forgot."

"Forgot wha-oh..." Reciprocating the surprise embrace, I let my chin rest on the blonde's shoulder. This is nice. I had forgotten what it felt like to be hugged by someone.

"You smell nice." My heart started to race as Kara nuzzled her face into my hair. "And I'm making you uncomfortable." Pulling back, she looked away ashamed. "I'm sorry." A soft blush covered her cheeks again.

"It's okay." Placing my hand on the woman's knee, I gained her attention. "I'm not used to being hugged or complimented for that matter. It will take time to get used to."

"Okay. I just didn't want to act all girlfriend-y around your secretary."

"Thank you for that. However, I believe Jess already knows. Or suspects. My employees have seen a change in me the past few days. Jess knows more than any of them because she keeps up with my schedule. She's trustworthy and just wants me to be happy."

Unloading the bag, Kara spread out our lunch. "Happy boss, happy life?"

"Exactly." Opening the container, I began eating my grilled chicken salad. "Tell me more about your aunt. Will she be fighting crime by your side since she's also Kryptonian?"

"We haven't discussed that yet. She is helping keep Earth safe though. So, in her own way, yes?"

"That's good." I know Kara doesn't need protection but I want her to be safe.

Silence fell between us as we ate. Something was on Kara's mind. "Why do you ask? I can protect this city."

"I have no doubt that you can fully protect National City on your own. Please, don't think I meant anything else by that. It's just," I paused realizing how needy I was about to sound. "I want you to be safe. I know we've not known each other very long but I care about you. A great deal."

A slow but beautiful smile made its way to the reporter's face. "Lena," taking my hand in hers, she squeezed gently. "I'll be safe. I promise. I've waited decades to find you. I'm not going to leave you anytime soon."

Somehow her words weakened the ache in my chest. "Promise?"

"I promise." Leaning back, Kara laughed nervously. "On a lighter note, I'd like you to meet her. She's kept an eye on the city and everything that's happened. She wants to meet you since I told her you were at the end of my string. She's seen your T.E.D. Talk but it's not the same as actually meeting you. I, also, want you to meet my friends eventually."

"Isn't that a little backwards? I thought you were supposed to meet friends first then family."

"What about our relationship is normal? I'm an alien from a different planet who was destined from ten years old to be with a human from this planet. Besides, you already met my sister."

"I wouldn't say that too loudly." I chuckled. "Dinner with your family sounds lovely. Should we have it at your place or mine?"

"I'd say yours but I know you've never seen my apartment. Besides, I do have a table for four. When you meet James and Winn during a game night, we might need to have it at your place. The boys will love playing video games on the huge flat screen in your living room."

"And a larger table for all of us to sit at." I added.

"That too. Most of the time, we eat in the living room so we can watch movies or whatever series we've started."

"That sounds nice." Hopefully I'll be added to some game nights. It sounds fun.

Over the next hour, Kara and I discussed when we would have this family dinner and game night. It felt nice to be included in her personal life. We've only known one another for a few days and yet I already feel so loved. I can only hope she feels the same way. "I hate for this to end, but I have a meeting coming up."

"Of course. I didn't realize your lunch break was almost over. I need to get back to CatCo. Otherwise, Ms. Grant will have my head."

"We definitely don't want that." Throwing everything away, I met Kara at the door. "See you tomorrow night." Cupping the woman's cheek, I kissed her softly. "Have a good rest of the day."

Humming, Kara beamed. "You too."

Kara's POV

"I'm so nervous." Pacing back and forth, I waited for Lena to arrive. "I know everyone will get along but still."

"Kara, I've already met your girlfriend. She's a badass." Alex tried to lighten the mood but failed.

"I think she's more nervous about Lena and I meeting. I've told her countless times that we'll get along. She's a woman of science and cares for Kara. Those two things alone will assure us getting along." Stepping in front of me, Astra held my shoulders. "Look at me, Little One." The taller woman waited to continue. "As long as you're happy and she treats you well, I will like her. Eventually, we will need to talk about giving her the Zor-El coat of arms."

"Astra!" My voice squeaked. "I've only known the woman for a week! I can't think of that yet." Oh gosh. I need to stop blushing before Lena gets here. Otherwise she'll ask what we were talking about and I am not ready for that conversation.

"What was that?" Alex's brow rose. "Kara's never squeaked like that before. What am I missing?"

"When a Kryptonian gives someone their family crest, it is a marriage proposal."

"Oh, really?" Jumping from the couch, Alex rushed to the kitchen. "I think Lena beat her to it." An evil grin made its way to my sister's face.

"How so?" Astra was genuinely puzzled.

Rummaging through the cabinet, Alex brought down my newest mug. "Kara came home with this the other day. It has the L-Corp logo on it. So, basically, Lena's symbol."

"How did you know about that?" Snatching the mug, I placed it back in the cabinet.

"I needed a wine glass and saw it." Leaning against the counter, Alex continued. "It's cute how in love you are."

"Alex! Shhhhhh! She's here and might hear you!" My face is going to stay this color.

"That's not a no." Wiggling her eyebrows, Alex opened the door before Lena could knock.

"Oh, hello." The businesswoman blinked as her hand slowly moved back to her side.

"Kara heard you. Come in." Ushering Lena inside, Alex smiled. "Good to see you again."

"You as well. Hopefully, I don't have to shoot anyone this time." Entering cautiously, Lena smiled when she saw me. "Hello, Kara."

"Hi." Grinning like an idiot, I tried to string a longer sentence together. She's so pretty I can't even. "Uh, words."

"They normally help, yes." Hanging her coat, she stood awkwardly.

"Oh golly, that was out loud. I'm sorry." My face started burning all over again.

"Oh, Lord…"Alex did what she could to stiffen a laugh.

"It was, yes. No need to apologize." Crossing the room, Lena came to stand before me. "You look lovely as always."

"Oh, God." Alex scoffed. "Ms. Luthor, you might need to take it easy on Kara."

Turning her gaze to Alex, the shorter woman spoke. "Please, call me Lena."

"Will do. Since you're dating Kara, call me Alex. Since said sister can't speak at the moment, let me do the introductions. Lena, this is Astra, the tongue tied one's aunt. Astra, this is Lena Luthor. The cause of Kara's stammering. Everything is ready and on the table. Let's eat before it gets cold."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Luthor."

"You as well. Kara has told me a lot about you and Krypton. It's fascinating how advanced the technology was. If you ever want to work with Earth's technology, I can always make an opening at L-Corp."

"Hey! Hey! She's my brilliant alien!" Alex pointed the carving fork towards Lena. "Back off." She smirked jokingly. "We really should eat before Kara gets hangry. That is a side of her you do not want to see."

Chuckling, Lena took a seat beside me. "This is a lot of food." Placing her napkin into her lap, she waited for everyone else to sit.

"Yes, I'm sure you've noticed Kara eats more than a human does. Kryptonians burn hundreds of calories a minute because of your yellow sun." Astra began serving the brisket. "How much would you like, Lena?"

"I'll take the other end. It's one of the best parts. Thank you." After serving herself salad, Lena put some on my plate. "You might burn calories much easier, and I kind of despise you for that, you're still eating something green."

"Just not kale. Please, no kale." Passing the bowl to Alex, I noticed her snicker. "What?"

"You hate vegetables. Lena comes along and BOOM you eat them."

"They're not that bad…" I mimicked Lena's table manners by placing my napkin on my leg.

"Kale is a work in progress. We'll start that next week." Flashing an award-winning smile my direction, I found myself agreeing to the horrible substance.

"Damn." Alex shook her head. "Just damn."

"Lena," Astra began. "We all know Little One's red string story. What about yours? If you don't mind sharing."

"Kara wasn't joking. You do get straight to the point." Lena paused with a crease in her brow. "Little One?"

"It's a nickname I always called Kara. She's more of a daughter to me than a niece. It just stuck as human's say."

"It's cute. As for my story, around my eighth birthday, a red string appeared on my finger. It always pointed to the sky and never moved. I told my older brother about it one day and he said that only special people are destined to meet their other half. They were connected by a red string that only they could see. Around eighteen, it descended a little. I suppose that's when Kara became ready for a soulmate since she had been here for a while. Six years later, Kara walks into my office and I see her at the end of my string."

"Knowing where our planet was headed, I was certain Kara's soulmate wasn't on Krypton. I always knew she was meant for greater things. Things that weren't on Krypton. I'm not glad our race is down to three people, but I am glad that Kara was sent here."

Placing her hand on mine, Lena squeezed gently. "I'm glad as well."

"I'm going to barf." Alex deadpanned.

After dinner, while Alex and Astra cleaned, I gave Lena a quick tour of my apartment. It was nothing like hers, but I felt comfortable showing her around. "You have a lovely place, Kara." Taking a seat on the small couch, Lena smiled softly as I joined her. "I've had a great time tonight." Both of us did our best ignoring the fact that my sister and aunt were listening to every word we said.

"I had a nice time too." I tried not to roll my eyes when Alex and Astra snuck into the other room giving us privacy.

"Do they think we didn't notice them?"

Glancing towards the cracked door, I shrugged. "They're trying to be nice. I know they're listening to us."

"No, we're not. Please, proceed with any human bonding rituals."

"Astra!"

A genuine laugh vibrated the brunette's throat as I turned a deep shade of crimson. "They really care about you. I wish I had a family like them."

The words came before I could stop them. "You have a family like that now and there's no getting rid of us."

"Not that I would want to. Thank you, Kara." Gently, Lena tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "That means a lot."

This is so awkward! We can't talk like normal because of Alex and Astra. "Hey, want to get out of here?"

"It's nearly ten. Most places are closed or closing by now. Where would you like to go?"

"Anywhere that my family isn't listening to every word we say. I know they're probably sitting by the door playing cards or something."

"Ha! Take all the cards, Astra! Oh…shit. Uh…carry on."

Snorting, I shook my head. "See?"

"I think I have an idea of something we could do."

Lena's POV

As Kara told her aunt and sister goodbye, I quickly texted Marcus asking if I could use his bakery. Knowing that I secretly loved to cook, he agreed and told me where the spare key was along with the security code. Smiling, I waved as Astra and Alex exited the guestroom. "It was nice meeting you, Astra. Hopefully, I'll see you at game night soon?"

"Of course." Holding out her hand, the older woman waited. Taking the offered hand, I shook it firmly. "I'm sure that Little One and I will be fighting to have you on our team."

"Well, just know, whatever team Kara is on, is the team I'll be on."

"Spoken like a true girlfriend." Alex kidded. "Good to see you again, not shooting someone this time. Have a good night."

"Bye, guys!" Sliding into her coat, Kara allowed me to exit first. "So, where are we going?"

"It's a surprise. Just a short walk." The first block was in a comfortable silence but I could tell Kara was debating whether or not to take my hand or lace her arm through mine. Not saying a word, I brushed my hand against hers answering the unspoken question.

"You sure?"

"We're National City's Power Couple, aren't we?" Smiling, Kara took my hand in hers. There were a few scoffs along the walk but each time I would squeeze the reporter's hand telling her it was okay. "We're here."

Stopping in front of Homestyle Pastry, Kara became more confused as I felt around the door for a loose brick. "What are you doing?"

"Opening the door." Making sure no one was paying attention, I took out the brick to retrieve the key.

"You own this place?" There was an adorable amount of hope in the woman's voice.

"No, but I'm associated with the manager. Come on." Closing the door behind us, I entered the alarm code. "When I first came to National City, I came here a few times a week for coffee. Eventually, that turned into monthly orders for employees. About a year ago, the owner, Marcus, got into some financial trouble and almost had to close the doors. I refused to let that happen because this place is his livelihood, and his baking is excellent, so I became an investor."

"You helped him stay open with your own money?" The look of astonishment Kara had was incredible.

No one has ever looked at me like that before. Not even Marcus. "Yes, I now own twenty-five percent of the company. To repay me, my personal orders are on the house." Entering the kitchen, I turned on the lights and threw Kara an apron. "Little known fact about me is: I love The Great British Bake Off. I taught myself to cook but I'm nowhere close to being good enough for the show. Not like I'd have time to compete anyway."

"Maybe one day you can. I mean, anything is possible. Look at us. No one would have thought we would end up together."

"That is true." Chuckling, I helped Kara tie the apron. "What would you like to bake? Marcus told me you come here every morning and get a sticky bun. We can always start there."

A sheepish grin tugged at the blonde's lips. "They're so good. I can't help it."

"They are but, unlike you, I can't have them daily. Tonight though, I'll make an exception." Flipping through a recipe book, I found one for sticky buns. This looks more complicated than I thought. Especially making the biscuits from scratch.

Peaking over my shoulder, Kara looked at the book. "Something wrong?"

"If we were to make everything from scratch, we'd be here well after midnight. Not to mention clean up."

"We can always make something else." The blonde swayed foot to foot and chewed her lip. "Honestly, it doesn't matter what we do. I'm just glad we're spending time together. Especially when we don't have to worry about other people listening in."

Closing the book, I tilted Kara's chin to meet my gaze. Without a word, I kissed her softly. "Thank you, Kara. Hearing that means the world to me."

"You're welcome." Her voice was soft. "What's your favorite kind of cake?"

After some thought, I answered. "Red Velvet. However, my recipe is a little different than Marcus'. Instead of milk to make the batter, I use red wine. The alcohol cooks out but still leaves the cake moist." I couldn't help but grin at the disgusted look on Kara's face. "What?"

"Out of the entire English language, that is one of the words I hate the most. I understand that in this context there's not another word you can use but-" The blonde shrugged.

"I hate the word too. I also hate the word "panties." Just say "underwear" or "lingerie." Anything but that."

"Yes!" Kara exclaimed. "English was difficult to learn. It's vastly different from Kryptonese. Especially when you write."

"I'm sure. You'll have to show me sometime."

"Definitely." Kara paused. "Clean up won't take long. Since it's just us, and you know I'm Supergirl, I can speed clean afterwards."

"In that case, Sticky buns or Red Velvet?" Flipping through the pages, I waited for the blonde's answer.

"Hmm. Red Velvet." She paused. "Even if it doesn't have wine in it." Chuckling, I found the recipe and started gathering the ingredients. "I can't believe I didn't think about that earlier."

"You speed cleaning?" Glancing over the page, I pre-heated the oven to 350 degrees.

"Yeah."

Kara's POV

An hour and many dirty dishes later, the cake was done. Finishing the last dish, I stole a glance at the businesswoman. She's so beautiful, talented, and brilliant. How did I get so lucky to be destined to be with her? My life is perfect. I can protect people as Supergirl, I have my sister, Astra is back, and now I met the person who I've wondered about since I was a young girl on Krypton. This is definitely not how I saw my life back then but I wouldn't change it. "All done."

"Perfect timing. I just finished icing the cake." I felt my entire body heat when Lena sucked the leftover icing off her index finger. "What?"

Reo. "N-nothing…" I stammered, my cheeks heating up. I shouldn't be thinking like this.

Dark brows furrowed. "Something has you flustered. No one turns that red for no reason. You almost match the cake." Looking down at the now clean digit, my reaction dawned on her. "Oh…"

Swallowing hard, a nervous laugh escaped my throat. "Y-yeah. I…um…" Turning away, my mind started racing. I shouldn't be thinking about that kind of stuff yet. We're only on our first date. Is this a first date? I think it's a first date. Oh, golly. What if it's not and I'm reading this whole thing wrong?

"Kara." Strong hands took hold of my shoulders. Turning me gently, Lena tilted my chin, forcing me to meet her gaze. "Breathe." Soft green eyes searched mine. "It's okay. Whatever you're thinking about, it's okay. Tell me."

"N-no…I can't. Not yet." My face got redder. "It's not…"

Studying me for a moment, Lena spoke softly. "I already know you've never dated a woman before but have you ever dated a man?" Nodding, I bit my lip. "Okay." Another pause. "Your thoughts weren't just about dating, were they?" Ashamed, I tried pulling away. Just hfor Lena's grasp to tighten. "Kara, that's normal."

"To think about…that…on a first date?"

"Nothing about our relationship is going to be "normal." I'm not complaining. It's just a fact." Taking my hand, she laced our fingers. "We were destined to be together our whole lives. Some thoughts might be sped up a little bit. I already met your family. Normally, that happens after I meet your friends."

"That's true." Letting my guard down, I smiled. "Thank you, Lena."

"You're welcome." Cupping my cheek, a warm smile reflected mine. "When it comes to other thoughts, we'll discuss those at a later date. Yes, we both feel drawn to the other, but I don't want to move things too fast. Especially since this is your first time with a woman."

"S-so you've been with a woman before?"

It was Lena's turn to turn a pale pink. "That's one hell of a question for a first date." She laughed. "Yes, I have. I've also been able to date more than you."

"Y-yeah. When you have super strength and can't tell people you're an alien, the dating pool is pretty small." Grinning, I continued. "Besides, with that against you, what's the point when it's not the person you're supposed to be with?"

"When we do decide to take that step, we'll need to figure something out. The only thing I know that weakens you would be kryptonite and I'm not using that on you."

"Too bad you can't just recreate a red sun's rays."

A dark brow rose. "Challenge accepted." Mischief twinkled in green eyes. "Now, let's try this cake." A comfortable silence fell between us as Lena cut us a piece. Handing me a fork, the businesswoman motioned towards the dessert. "Dig in."

I waited with Lena until her car arrived. "I've had a really good time tonight." I want to kiss her again.

"I have too." Cupping my cheek, the businesswoman caresses my cheek with her thumb. "A pretty good first date, I'd say."

Leaning into the warmth, I hummed. "A really good first date." Seeing a car pull up, I pouted. "Your car is here. Text me when you get home safely?"

"I will. Goodnight, Kara." Closing the gap between us, Lena placed a gentle kiss on my lips.

"Goodnight, Lena."

Xxx

"Kara!" Ms. Grant's voice rang through the office.

"Yes, Ms. Grant?" I placed a stack of files and a coffee on the woman's desk.

"Do you know anything about this?" Opening a file, Ms. Grant turned it towards me. "Lena Luthor is seeing someone." She paused. "Or she's up to something. I want to believe she's seeing someone since she made that whole deal about renaming L-Corp." Leaning back into her chair, Ms. Grant met my gaze. "Has she said anything to you?"

"No…why would she?" I tried keeping my voice steady.

"You've been seen at her office a few times. Even after you tagged along with Clark Kent for his article. And you went to the renaming ceremony together. I thought the two of you were becoming gal pals or something."

Or something. "No." Keep your answers short and she may not know you're lying.

"Either way, I need you to read over the articles for next week's issue." Turning back to her paperwork, Ms. Grant continued. "Keep an ear out though. I'm curious now." Turning to leave, it stopped hearing Ms. Grant add, "I know you technically work upstairs now but thank you for helping down here. Since I fired Snapper, it's been a bit crazy."

"Of course." Exiting her office, I got back to my desk and started editing. I need to tell Lena before she finds out someone photographed her and rumors are probably going to start. Pulling out my phone, I sent her a quick text.

Someone snapped a picture of you getting into the car last night. Cat asked me if I knew anything. I said no because we're not talked about a plan yet. I wanted you to know before you heard it somewhere else. -K I tried not to fidget as I waited for Lena's response. Glancing towards Ms. Grant's office, I jumped feeling my phone vibrate.

Thank you for letting me know and waiting to tell Cat about us. She's keeping an eye on me. I never expected anything less. -L

Should we tell her together? -K

Do you want to tell your friends first? Or would they understand why you needed to tell Cat first? -L

I'm really not sure… -K

We'll figure it out. I need to go. Meeting. Talk on your lunch break? -L

Sounds good. Have a lovely day. -K

Lunch time came and I went to the roof. It was one place I knew I'd have privacy. Can you talk? I'm on break? -K

A few minutes passed and Lena's face came across my screen. "Hey, how has your day been?"

"It's been well. Meetings, paperwork, phone calls, the normal stuff. How has yours been?"

"Other than the panic from this morning, good. I think Ms. Grant knows I lied." I paused remembering the other times she's caught me in a lie. "She has a sixth sense about these things."

"That's not surprising. She's a powerful woman who worked her way to the top. Do you think she knows about…" Lena's voice trailed off.

"SG? I think so but she'll never admit it. Last year, she swore up and down that I was her. I quit my job trying to prove that I wasn't. With the help of a friend, I was able to have SG and myself in the same room. She dropped the subject and rehired me." The sun today feels amazing.

"I'm glad you got your job back." A soft chuckle vibrated the speaker. "I can assume from the humming that you're outside soaking up the sun."

"Yeah." Finishing my sandwich, I packed the empty containers. "Maybe I can have James and Winn over tonight to tell them. Then tomorrow we can tell Ms. Grant? I want you to be with me when I tell her. Would you like to be there tonight when I tell my friends?" A few minutes passed and I became nervous. I can hear her breathing. It's not changed. "Lena?"

"I'm here." She paused. "I've not been in a serious relationship in quite awhile so I'm trying to let my guard down."

"We can wait if you need time." Now my heart is racing. Maybe we should keep this quiet for a while.

"No, no. I want your friends to know about us. I should be done here around seven and free by eight. Is that too late to have them over? I'll bring pizza."

Xxx

Lena's POV

Hearing Kara's laugh set me at ease. "They'll love you right away if you bring pizza."

"Then it's settled. I'll be at your place by eight thirty with a few pizzas." Seeing the call light flash on my office phone, I sighed. "I hate to cut this short but I have a call waiting."

"Okay. I need to head back downstairs. See you tonight."

"See you then." Ending the call, I swiveled towards the windows of my office. This is moving a bit quicker than I thought it would. Granted, I'm a Luthor. Of course I'm followed by cameras at all hours of the night. Glancing towards the red string, I took a steadying breath. Everything is happening how it's supposed to.

Before taking the call that was on hold, I called Jess into my office. "Yes, Ms. Luthor?"

"Would you place an order for eight tonight? Three large pizzas. One pepperoni, one cheese, and one meat lover." I gave Jess the name of the pizza place Kara mentioned was close by.

"Of course. Is that everything?"

"Yes, thank you." Pulling out my credit card, I gave it to my assistant. "Add a pizza or something for yourself. My treat."

"Thank you, Ms. Luthor. Would you like me to have it delivered here or somewhere else?"

"Here is fine." With a nod, Jess let herself out. Picking up the phone, I answered. "Thank you for holding."

The order arrived as I locked my office door. The delivery man tipped his hat. "Evening, Ms. Luthor."

"Good evening." Before he started to leave, I spoke. "Don't you need to keep the warming bag?"

"No, ma'am. Since you paid extra for it, I can leave it. Have a lovely evening."

"You as well." I watched as the man made his way towards the elevator. Once we were alone, I turned my attention towards the bag and my assistant.

"I know you're heading across town. I didn't want the pizzas to get cold." Jess grinned knowingly.

"Mmhmm." I smirked. "How exactly do you know I'm heading across town?"

"There's only one person you know who eats meat lovers pizza."

Narrowing my gaze, I tried to keep a stern look but failed. "What's the current story?" The blood drained from Jess' face. "We're the only ones here. I'm not going to fire anyone."

Shrugging, the woman took her pizza. "That you're dating someone or at least having some needs met."

"Clearly you have a theory of your own." I motioned towards the delivery bag.

"I just want you to be happy."

"That's appreciated." Taking the bag, I started for the private elevator. "Have a good night, Jess."

"You too, Ms. Luthor."

Placing the bag in the passenger seat, I drove down the levels of the parking deck. "Text Kara." I waited for the beep. "Heading your way now."

The closer I got to Kara's apartment, the more anxiety I felt. Everything is going to be fine. Kara's aunt and sister already like me. Now I just need her friends to as well.

Before I knocked, I heard James Olsen speak. "Why are we here? Not that I'm complaining. It was just sudden."

"I want to informally introduce you to someone." Footsteps neared the door.

"Is this person the reason you've been so bubbly recently?" A second voice asked. I know that voice. I just can't place the name.

"I'm always bubbly!"

"Not to this extent." He mumbled. "Why do I smell pizza?"

The door opened and I held up the bag. "Delivery for Kara Danvers and Super Friends."

"Hey, come on in." Taking the bag, Kara ushered me inside.

"Good to see you again, Astra." I hung my coat and purse on the rack.

"You as well." The super smiled with a head tilt.

"A-again?" The dark haired man looked between us. "Super Friends?" He scoffed. "I don't know…"

"She knows, Winn." Kara came to join me.

"How does Lena Luthor know about The Super Friends? And how does she know you're Supergirl?"

"That's a pretty big thing to keep from someone you're dating."

"Dating?!" James and Winn spoke in unison.

"I wanted to tell you guys before it came out in the press." Taking my hand, Kara continued. "I also wanted you to know before she joined us on game night."

"If you would like, we could have some nights at my place. Kara said you would love video games on my flat screen."

James and Winn shared a glance before looking back at me. Winn's eyes narrowed. "What kind of pizza did you bring?"

"Guys…" Kara warned.

Feeling triumphant, I answered. "One pepperoni, one cheese, and one meat lover. I went with the safer options tonight."

"She's in!" He threw his hands into the air. "Welcome to the club."

"Thanks. Let's eat before the pizzas get too cold."

Kara smiled, getting paper plates. "If they did, we have two Supers in here who could warn them up."

"True." I keep forgetting she uses her powers at home.

After everyone got settled with a drink and food, the actual introductions and questions began. "Lena, this is James and Winn we met at CatCo. James, Winn, this is Lena."

"Didn't the two of you meet like a week ago?" Winn turned his attention to Kara with a grin. "You lied to me last year."

"I didn't know then!" A soft blush tinted the Super's cheeks. "It's a long story but yes we just met recently."

Astra beat me to the question. "What was the lie?"

"Before Kara told me she was Supergirl, I thought she was coming out to me. I thought she was a lesbian." Looking back at us, he continued. "What's the long story?"

An unspoken conversation happened when Kara met my gaze. Giving a reassuring nod, she decided to tell it. "When I was ten years old on Krypton, a red string appeared on my finger and pointed towards the ground. It never moved until I landed on Earth. A week ago, I found the other end and it was connected to Lena." Confusion was clear on the men's faces. "In some belief systems, two people who are destined to be together are connected by a red string. Some are lucky enough to find the other end. But only the two connected can see the string."

Now it's my turn. "I was eight when I first noticed the red string. I told Lex about how it always pointed to the sky. He was the one who told me about The Red String Legend. Years later, it shifted but was never parallel to the ground. The day I was interviewed by Kara and Clark is when I saw the other end."

"Thank goodness it wasn't connected to Clark." James mumbled.

"Yeah." Winn agreed with a chuckle.

There's something they're holding back. More than Clark being with Lois. Turning my attention towards Kara, she tried not to squirm. "Kara? I know Superman is your cousin but…" The glasses. "Ah. Yes, I'm glad I was tied to you and not Clark." I paused. "Why do the glasses work to disguise you from most people?"

"Because most can't fathom a superhero working amongst them." James offered.

"That makes sense."

Topics became lighter as the night went on. By the time James and Winn left, most of the pizza was gone. Astra decided to turn in for the night after we cleaned the kitchen.

"James and Winn seem to really like you." Kara snuggled into me as we sat on the couch.

Wrapping an arm around the taller woman, I let my cheek rest on her hair. "I'm glad. So, we'll tell Cat tomorrow?"

"Yes. I'm not sure how to though."

"I can bring you lunch or pick you up once you're done for the day and we can get some dinner. Do you want the office to be full or empty?"

"I'm sure Ms. Grant will have questions and want to write a piece on us. Dinner would be better."

"Dinner it is."

Kara's POV

The entire day I was anxious about telling Ms. Grant. I look up to her and care about her opinion. Since she knew of Lena and kept an eye on her, it would be interesting to see how she would react.

Seven came and everyone but myself and Ms. Grant had left. Hearing a familiar heel click, I smiled. I was about to meet Lena at the elevator when Ms. Grant spoke. "While I applaud your dedication, why are you still here?" Before I could respond, the doors opened and Ms. Grant turned to see who it was. "Ms. Luthor, to what do I owe this visit?"

"Kara, actually." That smile will be the death of me. "May we speak in your office? As a top ranking journalist, you're going to want this scoop. I can assure you that." I shivered, feeling Lena's hand on my lower back. "Hi." She whispered.

"Hey." I squeaked.

Entering Ms. Grant's office, she took a seat at her desk as we sat on the couch. Curious eyes lingered seeing how close I sat to the businesswoman. "What is this about?"

"I dove more than once." I started. "I took your advice and not only chose to be a reporter but also to not hide from myself." Meeting Lena's soft gaze, I smiled before continuing. "I wasn't honest with you yesterday when you asked about the picture."

Folding her arms, leaned forward on her desk. "Are the two of you a couple now?"

Taking my hand, Lena nodded. "We are, yes. Kara wanted to tell her friends before we let you drop the story."

Intrigue and confusion washed across Ms. Grant's face as the new information sank in. "Half of me was expecting this but the other half, not so much." She paused. "Thank you for letting me drop the story. I'm not sure how other news outlets would cover it."

"Exactly. While I'm not ashamed of being with Kara, I know others want to paint me in a negative light because I'm a Luthor. As a powerful woman in a male dominated field, you understand that and wouldn't try to tear me down without reason."

"So," picking up a pen, "how did this come about? The two of you only met just over a week ago. That's pretty quick."

"I saw something in Kara when she and Clark Kent came to my office. After that, we talked a bit at the renaming ceremony and went from there."

"A few lunches and dinners later, Lena took me on a spontaneous date."

's eyes flashed towards me. "What was the date?" I met Lena's gaze and she gave me a small nod. "What? What are you silently talking about? Look, I respect both of you enough to not give out certain information if you ask me. However, I do need some details."

"Fair enough." Leaning back into the cushion, Lena crossed her legs. "A friend of mine owns a bakery in National City and since I helped him keep the doors open, he gave me a key and the alarm code if I ever want to escape the corporate world."

"You like to bake?" There was genuine surprise in my boss' voice.

"Yes, anything in the kitchen really. Not many people know that. I know Kara loves food, so it made sense to take her there."

Cat jotted a few notes down. "How did you help keep the place open?"

"Off the record?" Lena asked.

"Of course." Placing her pen down, she listened.

"I became a silent partner. His food is great. I didn't want to see him go out of business if there was something I could do to help."

"How nice of you."

"I'm nice to those who deserve it. If you don't, then I'm a L-"

"Force to be reckoned with." I finished. I hate the self hatred she has.

"Sickening." Ms. Grant deadpanned. "So, don't name the bakery but do say that you enjoy cooking when you can?"

"I think that's reasonable." Lena glanced at her watch. "Do you have any other questions? We have a dinner reservation soon."

Flipping her notebook closed, Ms. Grant stood. "No, I believe that's it. The story will be published in next week's issue. I'll have James take some cover shots. Once I know when, I'll be in touch."

"Perfect."
