After learning of how Steven Rodgers, how died and his courage to help everyone, and how devastated it had left both Sarah and Joseph, Anakin did not have the heart to leave. On his second night with the Rodgers he told himself, just one more night he will stay around. One day turned into one week, which in turn turned into a month, then soon after a few months. Sarah had told Anakin the other day it has been six months. In the last six months, he had been staying here with the Rodgers. He would sleep in the small room across the restroom, but he now had more clothes to wear. He had stopped wearing his Jedi clothing, people often stared at him when he did, so he just decided to keep it in the back of his closet.

The first few weeks he spent most of the day with Sarah, she taught him a lot about this world their customs, how to read their letters, although he was still getting use to their format. She taught him what she could about their money, money here seemed to be the equivalence of credits, so he picked that up pretty quickly.

On his second month with the Rodgers' he told Joseph he wanted to work, he felt so useless and wanted to be able to give something back to the Rodgers' for the hospitality they had shown him. At first Joseph refused to let him work, but Sarah knew this could be a learning experience for Anakin. Giving his an opportunity to become accustomed to this world's traditions and how everything operates. So after alot of convincing, Joseph finally agreed to let him work.

So at the beginning of April 1932, he began working at the market just two blocks from Rodgers' apartment. The manager gave a job to Anakin, since the Rodgers' had been loyal customers since the day they first moved to their apartment over ten years ago. Anakin worked under their son alias Steven Rodgers, at the store. It was there he met a friendly boy that lived across town, James Buchanan Barnes. James, or as he often went by "Bucky" was friends with everyone but Anakin did not know him till a Tuesday night, two weeks after he started his job.

That one night Anakin was taking out the trash, when two teenagers were waiting out back, they began throwing trash cans on the floor. Anakin had tried to ignore them, seeing as they were bigger than him, but one hit caught him off guard, and enraged Anakin so much that before he knew it he was punching the tallest of the teenagers. There was complete silence after the sound of his fist connecting with the other boy's face, that Anakin felt proud of himself for standing up to a bully. He however, did not think that the situation would escalate, and before he knew it was on the floor, being kicked and punched all over. He wasn't sure when they were going to stop until he heard a shout at the end of the street. " Hey, leave him alone!."

"Oh, yeah what are you going to do about it?" the second boy said.

"Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" the boy on the other side of the alley yelled, before running forward and was able to beat up those other teenagers within a minute.

"Hey, you alright?" the boy said.

"Yeah, Thanks. I had that by the way." Anakin responded.

"Sure, you did." The boy laughingly said.

"You're Steve right?" The boy said slowly walking back toward where he had first come from. He stopped a few steps ahead, waiting for Anakin to catch up. "Yeah, I am, and you are?" Anakin asked.

"Bucky, nice to finally, be able to meet you Steve, I heard you just started two weeks ago. Sorry, I have been away the last two weeks, on a school trip, that's maybe why you haven't seen me around the store." Bucky finished off.

"Oh, well it's nice to meet you Bucky, Thank you again." Anakin said.

After that night they become fast friends, oftentimes sharing the same shift. Bucky taught Anakin a lot, but sometimes Anakin felt bad that Bucky only ever knew him as Steve. But Joseph, Sarah and Anakin had agreed that it was best to keep his origin a secret for now. Agreeing that it would scare a few people. So, he kept his past a secret, only ever talking about today. It was through Bucky that Anakin learned that kids here went to school, so after a few weeks Bucky questioned him, of why he never saw him at school. Anakin asked Sarah and Joseph if he too could go to school, they readily agreed, thinking it would help him start living a normal life in their society.

However, since school was almost out they decided to enroll him till the next school year.

So when summer came, Anakin had shared the news to Bucky that he would soon be transferring to Bucky's school. All summer Anakin spent most of his time with Bucky at the park when they weren't working or even at the local diner.

He could not believe how much his life had changed in the last nine months, since he first arrived at this strange planet. Anakin did start to feel like he belonged here, with his job, his new buddy, with Sarah and Joseph, and with the start of the new school year.
