A big time Jump

A Lot has happened since Anakin's first year in 1932 he had begun High School that year. He was known by everyone as Steven Rodgers. At school, he struggled a lot, everything was so different. He tried his best to keep up the alphabet was so different, but he kept pushing forward. Bucky, his first friend in this new world, was always very helpful, he tutored him alot. Anakin was bullied most days at school, especially when Bucky was not around. Most made fun of the hard time he had reading or writing, or even his size. As Bucky had jokingly commented one day, "It's like you are growing in the opposite direction." Maybe it was true, he had shrunken about six to eight inches since he first got here. He was shorter than Joseph, compared to when he first got here when he was a few centimeters taller than him. Sometimes he stayed up at night thinking of how life would be now back at his home. How was everyone, his mom, his dad, his sister, what about his brothers? Were they all right? Did his parents still live on Coruscant or had they moved to Corellia, where his father always wished they could live? Were Jania and Jacen Jedi masters or were they still training? What about Bail(his younger brother) was did he truly not have the force ability as he once thought, or was he a late bloomer? But he tried not to think of them too often, after he could not do anything else to try to get to them, so why dwell on something that can not be?

Soon the years passed and before he knew it had been four years since he had first got here. He graduated high school after four years, however, that year held a more significant meaning. As it was the year he had lost his father figure, of this world, Joseph. It had happened one summer night, a robbery gone bad. He was shopping at the local grocery store, the one where Anakin had once worked. The robbers pointed their gun at the cashier demanding the money. While, the cashier freaked and opened their box, as fast as he could. Joseph, always being his helpful self, tried disarming the criminal, but unfortunately the attacker was stronger than Joseph, and once getting loose of Joseph grip shot him twice. He died on the scene. After that Anakin had a hard time believing that the man that had once took, him in was gone. He saw how much it affected Sarah, since Steven lost, Joseph had been the only one holding her together so after his loss Anakin could see her demeanor change so much. so decided to stay at home and not leave for college, at least until Sarah had recovered from the loss of Joseph.

After three months it had seemed, as Sarah spirits were being lifted, Anakin tried to help her where he could and he thought she was getting better emotionally. One day she woke up a little under the weather. One day turned into a few days. A week into her illness, is when Anakin finally thought it was best to take her to the hospital. It was there they found out she had tuberculosis, and would properly not survive her condition. Anakin could not just accept that fact he had hope in him, that she would survive, she had to. So for the last few weeks, Anakin would come with Bucky to visit her, every day after his and Bucky's shift at the warehouse. He could see how the disease was eating away at her spirit and how she kept losing muscles on her arms and even on her face. But everytime she saw him he could see how she would replace her suffering with a bright smile, not trying to worry Anakin about her health.

"Are you sure you ok, Mom?'' Anakin asked as he walked into Sarah's room. Anakin would call her mom anytime they were in a public setting just to avoid getting caught up in a lie.

"Yeah, I'm Ok"

"You sure I could try asking the doctor to give you more …"Anakin.

"NO, I'm fine. Just a little tired, how was your day" Sarah asked.

"Fine, like every other day." Anakin answered. knowing she needed a distraction.

"How are you doing Bucky, how's your mother and her new berry bush? " Sarah asked

" I am fine Mrs. Rodgers, and my mom is doing alright her bush was attacked by a raccoon the other night, so she's pretty upset but says it just gives her an excuse to be able to plant some other things instead."

"Well I am glad she was able to see the bright side of such a dark tunnel." Sarah answered him with a smile. "It is always important to have hope even when everything seems lost, because one must remember there is always a way out of that dark tunnel" she said the last part looking at Anakin.

Anakin just kept looking down at the floor lost in thought, trying to hold back his tears. Was hope even real Anakin thought to himself. He finally decided to sit on the bed, by Sarah's legs, grasping her hand in his two, he could feel her bones through the small skin that was left of her hand. He was about to ask again how she felt, when she broke off in a cough. Anakin quickly stood and grabbed the cup of water that sat on the stand next to her bed, while Bucky grabbed a napkin for her as he realized what she was coughing up. After quickly grabbing the napkin Bucky had offered her, she covered her mouth and cleaned the liquid off her lips before Anakin could see. But it was too late, he had seen. He saw the blood on the napkin, he felt as if the world started to spin a bit more slowly. But he needed to be strong for her, he could not show how much it was affecting him. How her slow demise was affecting him. He knew it would destroy the little spirit she had left. So he grabbed the napkin for her and cleaned the little blood that was left on her chin.

"Thank you" she told Anakin.

Anakin nodded solemnly.

"Let me go get the nurse, I think they need to know about the blood." Anakin said while standing up once more. When suddenly Sarah grasped his hand stopping him.

"Don't be scared Steve, I'll be alright, I'll always be with you, I can take the pain, I can do this all day." Sarah said weakly but with a bright smile.

Bucky saw Steve slowly unraveling so decided he would be the one to alert the nurse just to give

Steve, a few minutes to collect his emotions.

"Let me go get the nurse." Bucky said.

The nurse did a few examinations on Sarah, and passed her notes to the doctor. The doctors only gave her only a week, but she strived for another 10 days. Before tuberculosis finally took her life.
