It was a another average day in Imp City, but for a certain group of imps, particularly a certain tall imp, it was a day to be very excited about.
" Sir, do we really need to go to such lengths to just welcome a new employee? " A average sized imp wearing a red bowtie asked with an annoyed tone.
" Oh come on Moxxie, this is exciting, we're going to finally get a new addition to the team! " A female Imp said excitingly in a southern accent.
" Exactly Millie, we're going to be welcoming a new member of the family, so we gotta show them that we value them as such. " Blitz said as he was tapping one end of a big sign to the back wall of the breakroom.
" Loonie could you get the other end of this for me dear? " Blitz asked as he looked over to the room's table, where a dark grey a white female hellhound sat in a chair looking at her phone.
" Huha, sure whatever. " Loona said with a groan, getting up from her seat and slowly walked over to the other end of the sign and lifted it up, while still looking at her phone.
" There, our welcome party preparations are all done! " Blitz said happily with a satisfied smile as he looked over the decorated breakroom.
The breakroom now had a big white sign on the back wall that said " Welcome to I.M.P! ", in big bold black letters with red glitter around them.
There was also a cooler stocked with ice and sodas on a counter, and two bowls of chips and dip were placed on the breakroom's table.
" Oh I can't wait to meet them, when's they suppose to get here Blitz? " Millie asked excitedly as they all left the breakroom together.
" Hmm, won't be long now, they told me they'd be show up a few minutes before 1:30, so until then it's business as usual, . " Blitz said with a smile as he looked at the time on his phone.
" About that sir, you haven't told us much about them, it would nice to know what they look like at the least. " Moxxie said with annoyance as they all walked to the waiting room
" Don't be such a #$%&ing wet blanket Moxxie, that'd ruin the surprise, and where's the fun in that?" Blitz asked while smiling as he playfully patted Moxxie on the head and ruffled his hair.
" Alrighty everyone, I'll be in my office for a bit doing stuff, when they do get here let me know. " Blitz said with a smile as he headed into his office.
" Augh, great now what do we do when they show up, we don't how are we even know their name. " Moxxie said with an annoyed groan as he fixed his hair.
" We'll just have to wait till they get here, so don't worry too much about it hun. " Millie said sweetly as she helped her husband fix his hair.
As the blood red shy darken as the day reached the afternoon in Imp City, a Amy drove her motorcycle into the parking lot of a large, tall, office tower.
As the motorcycle was parked and the engine was turned off, the hellcat got off and looked at a nearby tall monochrome office tower with horns curiously.
" This is looks the right place and address, the card says their office is on the 7th floor, hopefully the elevator here works. " Amy thought as she looked at the office tower as she headed to the building's front doors.
As she went into the building through the glass double doors, she entered a lobby with gray tile floors, walls, and black and white furniture.
She then quickly headed to one of the two elevators in the lobby, pressed the call button, and quickly got in and pressed the 7th floor bottom.
As she stood in the back left corner of the elevator leaning on the wall, she held and looked at theI.M.P business card in her left hand.
" Hmm, wonder how many employees are here, and how many I'll be working with in the field. " Amy thought, wondering what her new workplace and the people there would be like.
" I don't have much experience working in a team, I've mostly worked solo, so I hope this goes well. " Amy thought, putting the card back in her wallet as she saw her floor was coming up.
* Ding! *
" Well here I am, and with twenty minutes to spare, now where's their office at, ah there it is. " Amy thought after she steep out of the elevator, seeing the company's logo on a door on the right side of the hallway.
She looked through window and saw a waiting/reception room, with a light gray carpet floor, light and dark chocolate colored walls, and a couple of chairs and a couch.
" Hmm not bad, looks a lot better than some other places I've seen, looks pretty welcoming. " Amy thought, as she looked the room's interior from the hallway.
And as she was looking over the layout of the room, she saw a reception desk, where a female hellhound was sitting.
" That hellhound, I feel like I've seen her before, and that fur color, wait is that, is that Loona?! " Amy thought, her slit eyes becoming round as saucers as she looked at the hellhound.
" It is Loona, I haven't seen her since that day at the orphanage, I never thought I'd see my best friend here of all places. " Amy thought, amazed and happy at seeing the hellhound she grew up with.
She saw Loona was lazily sitting there, looking at the desk's computer with a bored look, as she watched whatever was on the computer screen.
" As much as I want to, I can't just reveal who I really am yet, I've got to keep it cool, act natural, and wait till I get her alone to do so. "
" Maybe she'll recognize me like this, I don't look that different from how I really look like. " Amy thought as she calmed down, opened the door, and walked inside.
As she entered the waiting/reception room, she casually approached the reception desk, while the hellhound not even looking away from the computer screen.
" Hello, I'm here for a job. " Amy said casually as she stood before the reception desk, causing the tall hellhound to shift her attention from the computer to her.
" Yeah, yeah, give me a sec. " Loona said in a bored dismissive manner, as she picked up the desk's phone and pressed a button on it.
" Guess she doesn't recognize me, well it has been several years since we last saw each other, still makes me feel a bit sad though. " Amy thought as she kept a straight face as she waited.
" Hey Blitz, got a client out here, alright. " Loona said in a bored tone, before hanging the phone up a moment later.
" Head through that door over there. " Loona said as she lazily pointed to the office door near her desk, before returning to watching the computer screen.
" Okay, nice style by the way. " Amy said casually as she looked over to the hellhound's attire.
" Thanks, you too. " Loona said as she genuinely smiled from the compliment, while she looked over the hellcat's attire as well.
Amy smiled back at the hellhound, then made her way to the office door and silently entered the office to meet her employer.
As she entered the room, she was met with a peculiar sight she was not expecting, Blitz sitting at his desk, playing with a toy horse figurine.
" Ahem. " Amy fake coughed loudly while she awkwardly stood near the door, trying to get the tall imp's attention.
" Oh hello Amy, odd was expecting a client, wait did you use to be human? " Blitz asked as he quickly put away the horse figurine in a desk drawer.
" Nope I'm a native, your receptionist just mistook me for a potential client, it's no big deal. " Amy said nonchalantly as she stat in the chair in front of Bliz's desk.
" Oh that would be my dear daughter Loona, she's such a sweetie. " Blitz said with a happy smile as he thought of his adopted hellhound daughter.
" Wait what, Loona was adopted by this guy, well he seems nice, and genuinely sounds like he cares about her. " Amy thought, happy that things turned out well for the hellhound.
" Anyway, since your here now, let's go and introduce you to the rest of the gang of I.M.P, shall we? " Blitz asked excitedly as he got up from his chair.
" Sure, I'm excited to meet the rest of your crew I'll be working with. " Amy said as she got up from her seat as well.
" Great, give me a sec to call them. " Blitz said as he opened a desk drawer and pulled out a megaphone
This confused Amy, then she quickly pressed her ears down tight against her head and covered her ears with her hands, realizing what the imp was planning.
" Hey gang, gather round in the lobby, our new employee is #$%& here! " Blitz yelled excitedly through the megaphone, oblivious to the Hellcat's discomfort as he made his announcement.
" Ugh, think I could feel my eardrums buzzing, don't you have an intercom system? " Amy asked as she flicked her ears in annoyance.
" Huh no, that's what this is for, anyway lets introduce you to the crew, their all excited to finally meet you. " Bliz said with a happy smile as he walked out of his office with the hellcat.
" Hey Loonie, I want you to meet our new employee, well you've already met her, her name is Amy. " Blitz said with a smile as he walked over and introduced the hellcat to his adopted daughter.
" Hey again. " Amy said with a friendly smile and a lazy wave.
" Hey. " Loona lazy said as she looked at the hellcat, before looking back at computer screen once more.
A moment later, Amy's right ear twitched slightly, hearing the sound of two sets of foot steps in the distance coming from behind her.
As she turned around, she saw two average sized imps entering the lobby, a male wearing a red bowtie, black pants, and coat with red buttons.
The other a female imp, who wore a crop top with black shoulder straps and gold buttons, torn black pants, and fingerless gloves.
"Hiya, so your our new addition to the team, it's nice to meet ya, my name's Millie, and this fella here, is my husband Moxxie. " Millie said with a big happy smile as she introduced herself and the other imp.
" Hello there, nice to meet you. " Moxxie said a bit nervously as he greeted the hellcat, feeling like he was being sized up under the feline demon's gaze.
"I't's nice to meet you both as well, I'm Amy, . " Amy said with a smile as Millie and her shook hands, while looking the two imps over with curiosity.
" I'm looking forward to working alongside you and the others. " Amy said with a cat like smile has she shook Moxxie's hand.
" Alright now that we're done with the meet and greet #$%&, let's move to the breakroom, we've setup a welcoming party for our ya. " Blitz said happily as he directed everyone to the breakroom.
" Wow, ah thanks for this. " Amy said in surprise as she followed the imps and entered the breakroom, seeing the decorations and set up.
" No prob, now who wants cake, cause I #$%& do! " Bliz said excitedly as he went to the breakroom fringe and retrieved a cake box from it.
The cake was a round shaped classic vanilla cake, with fluffy white frosting paired light yellow frosting, and in the middle of the cake written in blue icing, were the words " Welcome to the team! ".
After everyone got a slice of the cake, a cold soda from the cooler, the members of I.M.P and their new addition sat at the breakroom's table.
After everyone took a seat and got settled, it didn't take long for the imps to began asking questions about their new member of the team.
" So Amy, now that ya part of the team, mind us asking a few questions about yourself? " Millie asked with a smile, eager to get to know her new co-worker.
" Sure I don't mind, though I can't say I'll answer something that feels too personal, hope you can understand. " Amy said with an apologetic smile before she opened her soda.
" Of course, we all just meet an all, so how'd you and Blitz meet anyway? " Millie asked curiously as she ate some of her cake.
" Ah, well we meet just yesterday actually, I had just got done with a job to kill a gang that was hanging around and pestering a club and its employees. "
" And while I was standing at a crossing walk waiting, I saw Blitz running down the street on the other side, being chased by a big bull demon guy. " Amy said, before taking a sip of her soda.
" Ugh what a #$%& jerk he was, that roided out $#%& head made me get dirt on my cloths. " Blitz said as he voice his annoyance at the memory of the incident.
" Oh yeah, you mentioned that yesterday when you told us that we were getting a new team member, what'd this fella want with ya anyway Blitz? " Millie asked curiously as she looked at the taller imp.
" Well turns out the big guy was former human target of ours, remember that gang member we killed three months ago? " Blitz asked after he took a drink of his soda.
" Oh yeah I remember, his name was Bruce Macklyn, I also keenly remember the absurdly long stackeout we had to do for that job. "
" Because somebody, didn't find out the time the target was suppose to show up at the given location. " Moxxie said with barely masked annoyance as he glared at Blitz.
" Oh quit #$%&ing Moxxie, it wasn't that bad. " Blitz said dismissively while he was pitting whip cream on his slice of cake.
" Sir, we had to wait in a filthy room, in a abandoned rundown motel, for more than half a day. " Moxxie said with mild annoyance.
" Yeah, and I had to cancel my trip to Stylish Occult because of that, and sit at the office for hours past closing time. " Loona complained while looking at her phone as she ate her slice of cake.
" Now hang on, Blitz has already apologized to us all for that, he even gave us a few extra days off because of that as well. " Millie said as she tried to calm everyone down.
" So, who hired you all to kill Bruce when he was alive anyway? " Amy asked curiously, trying to change the subject to something else.
" Oh the client was his ex-girlfriend, because he killed her after she tried to leave him, after finding his drug stash in his house. " Moxxie said, recalling the details the client gave them.
" How did ya run into him anyway Blitz? " Millie asked curiously, having not run into any of their previous targets before.
" Well, while I was out window shopping, the big muscle head just came out of nowhere and tried to clock me, then chased me down the street. "
" But we won't have to worry about him anymore, Amy took care of him nicely, real skilled killer this one here " Blitz said smiling as he recalled the scene with delight.
" By the way Amy, Blitz mentioned your a freelance assassin, and that you work as a bounty hunter as well. "Moxxie said, recalling what Bliz had previously told the about the hellcat.
" Yeah, I do both to make more money, only difference between the two jobs is sometimes I need to bring the target back alive. "
" It occasionally makes the job a bit more challenging, but that makes it more fun for me, and pushes me to be more creative. " Amy said with a smile before she ate a life of her cake.
" Interesting, and how long have you been doing that, I don't mean to be rude, but you seem pretty young. " Moxxie said, curious about how much experience the hellcat had.
" So, what if I am? " Amy asked with clear annoyance in her voice as she raised an eyebrow.
" W-Wait I didn't mean anything by it, I was just curious. " Moxxie said nervously as he tried to realized how his words could be interpreted.
" More like being a judgemental #$%&. " Loonie said as she as she looked at her phone.
" Look, I'm twenty one just so you know, and I've got a lot of experience as an assassin, I've done a lot of jobs solo, and racked up a lot of kills. "
" But I can understand your concerns, so when we go on our first job together, you can see for yourself how I do, alright? " Amy asked nonchalantly before taking a sip of her soda.
" A-Alright. " Moxxie said with a nod, feeling glad to move on from the topic.
" So Amy, what's your specialty? " Millie asked with a smile, curious how the demon feline fought.
" My specialty? " Amy asked, confused by the imp's question.
" You know, what your good at doing, like how you fight and kill. " Millie said as she explained what she meant.
" Oh, well I'm good with a variety of guns, like my pistol here, it's a bit bulky, butt it's fire power makes up for that. " Amy said as she reached into the interior of the right side of her jacket.
She then pulled a large pistol from a hidden gun holster in her jacket, it was jet black with intricate, beautiful gold engravings across the whole gun.
" That's a desert eagle pistol, one of the most powerful pistols there is. " Moxxie said with slight surprise, instantly recognizing the type of pistol it was.
" Wow, now that's a #$%& fine looking piece. " Blitz said with a smile, impressed by the sight of the decorated pistol.
" It certainly looks cool. " Loona said as she looked up from her phone to the pistol as well.
" Thanks, I use steel tip full metal jacket bullets, so when a bullet hits a target, it hits them hard. " Amy said, recalling the damage her gun could do to someone.
" But I mainly prefer getting up close and personal, can't beat the thrill you get in the heat of close combat, and when ripping and tearing someone apart . " Amy said with a smile as she put her pistol away.
" Oh it's so true, it's such a wonderful feeling when the adrenaline is pumping through your veins, so what you use when brawling?" Millie asked excitedly.
" Oh I use knives and other weapons, but I primarily use my claws and fangs when I fight the most, I'm also skilled in martial arts. " Amy said, before taking a drink of her soda.
" Well sounds like you'll do great here, glad to have ya on our team Amy. " Millie said with a happy smile.
" Thanks. " Amy smiled, as she and everyone else went back to enjoying their cake and casually chatting.
" Alrighty now, let's show you around the place, you've already seen the lobby, breakroom, and my office, so I'll show you the rest of the place. "
" And when we're done, I'll show you and where your office space will be so you can settle in. " " Blitz said happily, taking Amy on a tour of the I.M.P office now that the party was over.
" Wow, I get my own office space too, now that's neat. " Amt said with a smile as she followed Blitz down a hallway.
" Yeah, everyone here has one, I'll show you where yours is last, now come on let get this tour on a roll. " Blitz said with excitement as he lead and showed Amy around.
After half an hour of being showed around the entirety of the I.M.P office, Blitz lead Amy down a hallway, and stooped at a blank black office door.
" And lastly on our tour of I.M.P is your office, hope you like it, I think I picked out a nice spot for you. " Blitz said as they arrived at a black office door.
The office room was as big as Bliz's, it had grey carpet flooring, a window on a wall, a black wooden office desk, and a couple of file cabinets.
It also had a small couch, a black office chair like the one in Blitz's office had, and a modern computer that sat on a stand on the desk as well.
" This is nice Blitz, thanks for this, and you know, hiring me in the first place. " Amy said with a smile after she looked the office over.
" Oh don't sweat it, and so you know, the lovebirds share an office down the hall on the right, and Loona's is in the lobby. " Blitz said as he told Amy where everyone's office was.
" Anyway feel free to decorate this place how you want, and make yourself at home, if anything comes up like a job, I'll call you. "
" Oh and before I forget, there's a yellow sticky note on your computer with the company's password so you can use our internet. " Blitz said, before leaving the office room.
" Well this was more the I was expecting, I have a real office now, I didn't bring much with me so I don't have anything to add to this office, for now at least. " Amy thought as she looked around her desk and office.
" Well since I'm not busy right now, I hopefully can find Loona and talk to her, the sooner the better. " Amy thought as she left her new office to find the hellhound.
As Amy left her office and made her way into the lobby, she saw Loona getting up from her desk, heading straight for the breakroom.
" Hmm, looks like this might be my chance to talk to her alone. " Amy thought, as she headed for the breakroom as well.
" Augh, where are they, I know there in here somewhere. " Loona grumbled as she looked through the breakroom's refrigerator.
" What're you looking for in there? "
Suddenly, Loona swiftly stood up to her full height upon hearing a voice right next to her, quickly spotting the dark blue and white hellcat standing near her.
" Oh it's you Amy, I'm a getting a snack, what do you want? " Loona asked as she relaxed and resumed her search through the fridge.
" Oh nothing, I was just walking and looking around, getting familiar with the place, you on break right now? " Amy asked as she watched the Loona rummage through the fridge.
" Yeah, ahh finally found them." Loona said triumphantly, retrieving a beer bottle, and a pack of large beef jerky sticks from within the fridge,
" That beer? " Amy asked curiously as she eyed the dark brown glass bottle beverage, labeled Drunken Bard Imperial stout beer.
" Yeah, what about it? " Loona asked defensively with an slightly annoyed tone and glare.
" You got anymore in there, cause I could go for one too. " Amy said casually in a friendly manner.
" Yeah, here you go." Loona said with a small smile, getting another beer bottle and handed it to Amy.
" Thanks, mind if I join you and chat for a bit? " Amy asked as she took the offered beer bottle, gesturing to the breakroom table with her tail.
" Sure, I don't mind. " Loona said with a shrug, as she and Amy sat across from another at the table.
" You know your pretty light on your feet, didn't even hear you enter the room, and I've got really good hearing. " Loona said as she ate a few her beef jerky sticks.
" Yeah sorry if I startled you, I sometimes forget how soft and quite my footsteps are, happens more often than I care to say. " Amy said with a chuckle as she twisted the cap off her beer bottle and took a drink.
" It's no problem, you know something, I had a hellcat friend who said the same thing to me when we first meet. " Loona said softly with a bit of sad tone at the end
" Huha, I knew a hellhound who happened to have fur colors like yours, identical shade of color too, have we meet before?, " Amy asked curiously as she leaned back in her chair.
" Uhh no, at least I don't think so, though now that I think about it, you do oddly look familiar, did we meet at a store, or concert maybe? " Loona asked, trying to recall where she may have meet Amy before.
" Huha no, we first met in an orphanage, where we grew up together a little over 9 years ago. " Amy said casually before taking a drink of her beer.
" Huh, what are taking about? " Loona asked as she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
Huha, my fur color and height may be a bit different now, but I thought you'd of all people would recognize me, Loonie. "Amy said, her voice now lighter, and had a light Italian sounding accent.
" What, what did you, wait your voice. " Loona said, her face full of shock as she looked at the hellcat stunned.
Seeing this, Amy smiled with a cat-like grin, then suddenly the hellcat burst and was completely engulfed by dark crimson flames
A second later the flames disappeared, and there sitting across from Loona, was now a completely different looking hellcat.
This hellcat still resembled a tabby cat, but was now taller, minus her ears, she stood at the same height as Blitz with his horns.
She had a short, spiky, dark amethyst half a foot tall spiky Mohawk, and had honey gold eyebrows and honey gold eyelashes.
She had fluffy black dark purple fur, with honey gold patches across her body her ears, and had honey gold tips, and light gold fur lining the inside of her ears.
She also had honey gold fur on her hands and feet, going up a bit past her wrist and ankles, and at the end of her fluffy tail.
" Recognize me now, Loonie? " The hellcat asked curiously with a playful smirk and flick of her tail.
Upon seeing the Hellcat's new appearance, Loona became a deer in headlights, staring at the hellcat with a shocked and dumbstruck look.
" Lily! " Loona said happily after she recovered from her shock a moment later.
She quickly for up from her set and grabbed the hellcat up from her chair, and into a tight hug.
" Yeah its me Loona, long time no see, glad you still remember me after all this time. " Lily said with a happy smile as she happily returned the hug.
" Of course I would, I'd never forget my best friend. " Loona said with a happy smile as she put the hellcat down and let her go.
" It's so good to see you again Lily, where the #$% have you been all this time, and what's with the disguise and fake name? " Loona asked curiously as they sat back down in their chairs.
" Huha, it's a long, and complicated story. " Lily said with a long tired sigh as she slouched back in her chair.
" Your not in any trouble, are you? " Loona asked with concern as she looked at the hellcat worriedly.
" No, like I said its complicated, for now just know that the "Amy " disguise is necessary for me, I'll tell you all about it after work." Lily said before taking a drink of her beer.
" Sure, I know a good bar downtown where we can hangout and chat up, I think you'll like it. " Loona said with a smile, while her tail was slightly wagging.
" Sounds grea-
" Hey Loona, Bliz says he has a job for us all, wait who's this? " Moxxie asked as he suddenly walked into the breakroom, and saw Lilly out of her disguise.
" Oh #$%&. " Lily said in a soft flat voice that only Loona heard, as she stared at Moxxie with a wide eyes full of shock.
" This is, a friend of mine that came by to visit me. " Loona said with a slightly nervous tone as she tried to play it cool.
" A friend of yours, you've never brought a friend here before, or mentioned anything about having friends now that I think about it " Moxxie said as he pondered aloud.
" Why the #$%& would I, my social life, and who's my friend, is none of your #$%&ing business. " Loona said irritability as she glared at the imp.
" Well you know you shouldn't be bringing your friends here and slacking off, or drinking during work hours. " Moxxie said with annoyance as he folded his arms in disapproval.
" Oh shut up Moxxie, one bottle won't effect me, and I'm not slacking off, I told Blitz I was going on a break, so #$%& off." Loona said irritability as she glared at the imp.
" Sorry I didn't know, anyway I'm Moxxie, I'm an employee here. " Moxxie said as he politely greeted Lily.
" Oh I know, we've actually meet already. " Lily said with a faint smile now she had recovered from her shock of being discovered.
" Huh? " Moxxie said as he scrunched his eyebrows in confusion,.
" Well, you know me as Amy. " Lily said as she got up from her chair.
As she did, crimson flames engulfed her, then she reappeared as the dark blue and white tabby hellcat after they vanished a moment later.
" Though my real name is Liliana, and this is how I really look like. " Lily said as she gestured to herself after changing back into the black tabby hellcat.
" Wha, how are you? " Moxxie said as he struggled n to form a sentence, as he stared at the hellcat dumbstruck after seeing her changing her appearance.
" Well by shape-shifting of course. " Lily said simply with an amused smile at seeing Moxxie's shocked and confused state.
" But, why use a disguise and fake name? " Moxxie asked as Lily sat back down in her chair.
" I have my reasons, anyway whatnt was it you came here to tell us? " Lily asked curiously, wondeYeah why the imp was here.
" R-Right, Blitz says he wants everyone to met up in the conference room in 5 minutes, we've got a job to do. " Moxxie said, already mostly over his shock of seeing the Lily's ability.
" Seriously, ugh I'm still on my break. " Loona said grumbled, as she took a big drink of her beer.
" Alright, give us a a bit to finish our drinks, and we'll be there shortly. " Lily said as she took a drink of her beer as well.
" You really shouldn't be drinking during work hours to bein with. " Moxxie said with a frown as he watched his co-workers drink their beers.
" I'll be fine, not my first time drinking a bit before a job, and I have a high alcohol tolerance, this much won't even effect me. " Lily said confidently.
" If you say so, just don't take too long, and your going to tell everyone about, this right? " Moxxie asked, gesturing to Lily's true form.
" Yeah, I'll explain everything at the conference room. " Lily said reluctantly with a tired sigh, not liking the fact she was going to have to do that.
"Alright, and make sure to not be late." Moxxie said, before he turned and went to leave the breakroom.
" Sheesh what a #$%& uptight stickler, . " Lily said once the Moxxie had left the and she couldn't her his footsteps anymore.
" I know right, he's always hassling me about something, annoying #$%& little prick. " Loona said with annoyance as she ate a beef jerky sick.
" Anyway, are you sure it was a good idea to reveal yourself, I could have covered for you. " Loona said as she looked at Lily.
" Yeah, though I'm not happy that it happened, but it did, I have myself to blame since I was caught off guard. " Lily said with a long and tired sigh.
" I should have heard his footsteps too #$%&, sorry for distracting you. " Loona said in frustration, feeling ashamed that she was caught off guard as well.
