Episode 3: Ruins
The initial shock quickly wear off when Emily ran to Mike's arms and both of them hugged with Mike hiding his face on her neck meanwhile, Kira approached Conner slowly but he smiled and raised his hand towards her, allowing her to understand that even in his stage, he could see her.
Kira walked towards him and hugged him then, she grabbed his face and looked at him. Conner's eyes were closed, a scar crossing one of them.
-Did I become ugly now, my love? -asked Conner.
-No… no, of course not. -said Kira, smiling through her tears-… I thought I lost you.
-I thought I lost you too, thankfully, there were ways to revert what was done. -said, Conner.
Not far from them, Mike touched Emily's face, smiling down at her and letting their eyes talk until she hugged him again, crying Mike looked up, to his teammates, there, he could see Mentor Ji was looking at the sword on his waist.
-It is Masamune, Mentor Ji. -said Mike, in their heads-… I am sorry, I lost my voice but I was trained to be able to communicate using telepathy.
-As you can see, I am blind. Is not a problem because we were trained to overcome our disabilities in a fight. -said Conner, raising his cane to point towards hologram Jake-… he did record it after all…
Mike smiled as the hologram Jake waited, with his arm crossed. He seemed to know what was really going on but then, he looked to the side and Mike and Conner spotted Sky and Syd that all this time have been trying to remain respectful.
But it was hard.
-Come on, son. Don't you want to give a hug to your old dad? -asked Conner.
-You too, princess… it has been a long time. -said Mike on their mind.
Sky and Syd looked at each other and then ran to their fathers, hugging them at the same time Kira and Emily now sightly surprised saw the two SPD Rangers hugging their father sobbing as they grabbed their jackets.
The scene was touching but Bridge remained close to the hologram of his dad as if that could keep him close to Jake. When they broke the hug, Conner and Mike did their best to remain calm and Conner pointed towards Bridge that walked towards them and hugged them both.
-I'm so happy you two are here…-whispered Bridge.
-We are too, kid. -said Conner-… I'm sorry about your dad.
-Is not over yet, Bridge, believe that. -said Mike on their minds.
Bridge nodded and stepped aside when they saw Alpha 5 walking towards the Mighty Morphing Rangers and Megaforce Rangers presenting his respects before he got Jake's old morphers, one for his father and the other one for Gia.
-He wanted you two to have them. -said Alpha 5-… you raised a great warrior, Jason, and a great man. He led us to victory with strength and gave us new hope.
-Is he dead, Alpha? -asked Jason.
His voice was above breaking but he remained as stoic as possible, behind him, the Megaforce Ranger hold their breath as Alpha looked towards Kat but neither of them answered, no, it was hologram Jake who had the answer.
-By now my dad and Gia probably pick up that something is wrong with me and the truth is, yes, something did happen but I will tell you when the time is right, for now, you have to know this story is far from over and I would like for you to hear everything before you get to my current state. -said Jake-… but first of all, I would like for Conner and Mike to explain who is the Death Ranger and why you have slept for the past eleven years.
Conner and Mike walked towards the chairs close to Kira and Emily and sat down, with Cruger now standing beside Conner, there, the two Rangers took a deep breath before they raised their heads to look at the Rangers.
-The Death Ranger was once a Ranger, like all of us. He was the first Ranger Zordon ever trained and his most trusted friend, unfortunately, the desire for power overwhelmed this Ranger and he tried to convince Eltar to attack Rita Repulsa before she attacked them. When they ignored him and followed Zordon's advice, he became full of rage against him. -explained Conner.
-The Death Ranger thought the only way to prove his worth was to fight and win against Rita Repulsa and her army but… it didn't go as he planned. He was captured, tortured, and ultimately killed horribly. -explained Mike.
-Ay, ay, ay…-said Alpha 5, sadly-… Rita Repulsa keep his bones and feed them with hatred for months until he came back alive, long after she was gone. He promised revenge as he believes Zordon is guilty of his death. That's why he planned a first attack where Zordon as Bastro, Firebird, and Wolf managed to seal him again, centuries ago.
-But when the seal broke, between Zordon's death and rebirth, the Death Ranger got more powerful. That's why Zordon came back as Bastro and asked me to help him defeat the Death Ranger for once and all. I accepted, not knowing the Death Ranger would come to you all first and steal your energies before I could get a chance to get him. -said Jake, looking down-… that was a mistake I was sure never repeat because what he did with your energies was to bring back all your past enemies and that's why we needed the three morphers.
-We had to fight them all, there was only one way of giving our energies back. -said, Conner.
-And that's what we did, starting in Eltar. -said Mike-… by the time we came back, the planet was under attack.
Bridge smiled, touching his father's device.
-Is also the first time we saw each other. -said Bridge.
Eltar (Year 2014)
Jake, Conner, Mike, and Alpha 5 came back to Eltar only to find the planet under attack, running, they managed to arrive at the room where the Council was giving orders but as soon as they came in, the Council turned around, their calm demeanor surprising the Rangers and Alpha 5.
-You are back… that's good news. -said the man-… unfortunately, the Death Ranger has sent his plan in motion and you cannot stay here any longer.
-What? -asked Jake-… where is he? What did he do?
-He revived powerful enemies the Rangers had during the years and he is sending them back to Earth, Aquitar, Mirinoi, and several other planets you need to save. -said the woman.
-We can start here…
-No, Eltar is too far gone at this point and there other planets that need you more than we do -said a man-… don't worry about us. We will always come back.
Jake was about to protest when they heard a noise and turned around, seeing a young kid around 10 years old crying. He had his favorite stuffed Yellow Megaforce and a blanket on his hands and he looked dirty as if he was running from something.
The kid ran towards Jake and grabbed his leg, surprising him and the other Rangers. Alpha 5 quickly moved towards him and analyze him before raising his head towards the Rangers.
-His name is Bridge. 10 years old. His father managed to get him out before the house exploded… he is all alone…-said Alpha 5.
Jake knelt in front of the kid and saw the fear in his eyes. He more than anyone knew what it was like to lose a parent and he was lucky because he had his whole family behind.
He couldn't let this child alone.
-Hey, my name is Jake. -said Jake, pointing at the Yellow Megaforce toy-… do you like the Yellow Megaforce?
-Yeah… she is my favorite- said Young Bridge, showing the dirty toy to Jake.
He also saw his blanket had the Super Megaforce Rangers and smiled, extending his hand to Bridge as he smiled down at the boy.
-She is my favorite too. -confessed Jake and Bridge smiled, allowing Jake to understand Bridge was comfortable with him-… Bridge, this planet is being attacked by bad people. I need you to come with us to Earth so we can prepare and defend ourselves.
Bridge looked back and saw the destruction and people screaming, running, or falling in slow motion then, he looked at Jake and nodded, allowing Jake to grab him in his arms before he turned around and looked at the Council.
-Are you sure you don't want us to stay and fight? -asked Jake.
-No, Jacob. We will be fine but you need to get back to your planet and defend it from all the Rangers he hurt before. -said the woman-… when you defeat his army, the energy will return to your Rangers, slowly and you will be able to save them.
-What is she talking about? -asked Conner behind Jake.
Jake turned around and looked at his two friends, sadly.
-After we defeated Mavro and his Armada the Death Ranger appeared and stole the energies from all the Rangers except us three. -explain Jake-… the other Rangers are sleeping, protected by a small part of the Zeo crystals but for them to wake up, we must defeat the army.
-What!? You mean someone stole Kira's energy!? And the others!? -screamed Conner.
Mike didn't say anything but his expression was pure fury at least until Jake looked at them putting one hand on Mike's shoulder since he was holding Bridge.
-I know what you feel, before Bastro explained I thought they were dead. -said Jake-… but we know what to do and we can do it, together. We need to defeat them and him to save our family… are you with me?
Both Rangers looked at each other before they looked back at Jake and nodded. They were in this together. Suddenly, an explosion near them almost made the Palace crumble and the Council raised their hands, teleporting Jake, Conner, Mike, Bridge, and Alpha 5 back to Earth.
-Good luck, Rangers…. Be the light of new hope.
And just like that, the Rangers, Bridge, and Alpha 5 turned into white lights, flying towards Earth in hopes to save the planet and maybe the universe.
SPD Headquarters (Year 2025)
Bridge looked almost embarrassed as he looked at Gia, he didn't remember the part of him holding a stuffed Yellow Megaforce Ranger or the blanket but Gia quickly took his embarrassment away when she got up and hugged him, making Bridge let out a breath of relief.
-It seems it was destiny for us to meet, son. -said Gia, smiling.
-Son? -whispered Bridge.
-If you want… since you are Jake's son I would love for you to be my son too. -said Gia, smiling-… Bridge Noah Scott Moran. What do you think?
Bridge looked at her, almost as if he couldn't believe it, and slowly, nodded, a smile forming on his lips as he finally found himself at home. His father always told him that Gia would love him but he never quite believed him, not until now.
Gia looked at him and then pointed at Emma.
-We did get a handsome young man, don't you think? -asked Gia.
Emma nodded and then Gia looked at Z, who was staying behind Bridge. She grabbed her hand gently and put it with Bridge's hand, smiling at both of them as the memories of her moments with Jake plagued her mind.
-Whatever happens, trust each other. God knows how much your father drove me crazy but I knew at the end of the day that he would do anything to come back to me and even if I don't know what happened to him yet… I know he will keep the promise he made to me. -said, Gia.
Bridge and Z nodded and Gia took a long breath, needing to feel Jake by her side not having him was driving her crazy but at least he had Bridge and the other Rangers. She had to wait, her heart was telling her not everything was lost… not yet.
After a moment of silence, Jack took a step forward, taking control of the room when he started the device again.
-Jake, Conner, Mike, Alpha 5, and Bridge came back to Earth but not to the Command Center or the cave where Bastro teleported you all when Jake left, no… they and you came here, to Newtech City.
-This city existed for real? -asked Damon.
-It was not as prosperous as it came to be but it was a location for Eltarians to take refuge in case Earth was attacked. -explained Jack.
-In fact, several civilians took shelter here during the Armada war -said Bridge-… this was the last present the Council gave to Zordon and the Rangers and from here, they transformed it into the city you see now.
-Also made it the Time Force Academy predecessor. -said Syd, smiling at the Time Force Rangers-… your influence here was big but it wasn't only you. Noah's project and Ethan's all were taken into account, of course, giving the credit to both of you.
Noah and Ethan both got up at the same time and Jack chuckled, taking a step forward to show the Rangers the Delta Blasters quickly, he combines to form the Delta Blasters Combo Mode that Noah quickly recognizes by rising his arm.
-I remember this! I dream about Jake telling Dr. Manx about this! This is how I got our weapon! The one we use with combining our keys! -said, Noah.
-Exactly. Jake had the original design and asked Dr. Manx to modify my Delta Blasters so I could do the Combo Mode. -said Jack-… in a few months, the rest of the team will have these weapons with their colors.
-Awesome.
-On our side. -said Conner, smiling-… I knew you had an ongoing project for the Silver Guardians so I explained Wes' board situation and they gave it to us. They also helped to build the city as it looks now.
-Wow…-whispered Ethan.
-On my side, went everything got settled, I went to visit several masters from the Ninja Academy, our families, and Pai Zhuq masters so they could prepare our cadets. -explained Mike-…Jake got this idea that since the current Rangers were down and we would likely face another war, we needed people to defend Earth, and boy… we had a lot of applications the Death Ranger was not only our problem.
-I see… so you three started this Academy-said Jayden, looking proud at his friend.
-They did and Dr. Manx and I were their very first students…
The Rangers looked to the side, where they saw Anubis Cruger smiling at them. Conner chuckled and Mike smiled as they remembered, even if Cruger's situation wasn't good, their meeting was something they could hardly forget.
Cruger pressed the device. He knew this part was going to be complicated for him and Kat but instead of images, Jake appeared again, this time he had taken off his jacket, and his white shirt without sleeves allowed the Rangers to see his arms, a lot more muscular and covered with little scars.
The hologram sat down, beside Gia and took a deep breath. He seemed tired and one of his hands went to his chest but he raised his head, looking directly at Cruger.
-Seems I'm not in shape anymore, Commander. -said Jake, breathing heavily-… I will never regret leaving you in charge, Anubis, you showed bravery, and honor and gave us a chance to bring your people back and offer them a better life.
Cruger got serious. He didn't want to show his emotions but he knew when Jake recorded this he already had his injuries but he keep fighting, fierce and unstoppable.
-Kat, you are a wonderful and capable woman that managed to grab the projects Noah and Ethan had and turn them into the technology I hope someday they can use with you. You are also a wonderful doctor and I know you will take care of everyone here for me, that's why I left you a small present with Bridge. -said, Jake.
Kat Manx looked over Bridge and the young Rangers smiled, giving her an SPD morpher, surprised, Kat grabbed it and looked at it. The letters were orange but it was the same morpher the SPD Rangers and Cruger had.
-I heard what you said and I know how much you want to help, in so many ways you remind me of Noah I had to create this for you, using your standard procedure but adding a small touch from me, that is the Kat morpher, which means only you can use it. Good job, Dr. Manx and thank you, Kat.
Kat looked at the morpher and nodded with a lone tear running down her face as the image of Jake disappeared and now, the image of the SPD Academy appeared in front of them.
SPD Academy (Year 2014)
Appearing in that building was confused for everyone except Alpha 5 that quickly started to put everything online while Mike and Conner looked around and Jake hold a now sleeping Bridge in his arms.
While Alpha activated everything back, Jake got a message and he looked towards one of the doors, walking towards it, he quickly was followed by Conner and Mike that opened the door, and what saw there left them speechless.
The Rangers that got their energy stolen were there, sleeping under the protection of the Zeo crystals. Conner ran to his team and Mike towards his while Jake walked towards his team and put a hand on Gia's crystal, looking around and seeing Troy, Noah, Emma, and Orion.
He took a deep breath, reminding himself they were only sleeping, and then looked at Bridge, kissing his hair before he looked back down at Gia.
-This is your favorite Ranger, Bridge. She is also the girl I love and we are going to work hard to wake her up. She will teach you to stand up for others, to be brave, and fight for what is right. -said Jake, moving him toward the rest of his team-… this is Uncle Noah, he is smart and I'm sure when he wakes up, he will teach you a lot of science stuff I don't have a clue about and you will become super smart like him.
Then he walked towards Troy and smiled.
-This is Uncle Troy. He will teach you to fight and defend yourself, he may be stoic but he will stand by you through anything. -said Jake, then looking at Emma-…and this is Aunt Emma, she will teach you to love nature and photography and this guy is Uncle Orion, our friend from planet Andresia. He will teach you how to pilot a ship, this time without crashing it.
Bridge was still sleeping but he smiled and Jake smiled looking at him before he went back to Gia's crystal and touched it.
-I will fix this, Gia. I promise…
Jake waited, almost expecting an answer that never came when the alarm went off and the Rangers looked at each other, running back to the control room where Alpha -5 was moving from one side to the other.
-Ay, ay, ay! Rangers… The Death Rangers are attacking one of Eltar's allies, planet Sirius is being attacked! We have to help them! -said Alpha 5.
-Do you know where the planet is located? -asked Jake.
-Yes and there are attack ships here. You can use…but wait, that would take too long… oh wait, there is also a teleporter… I can teleport you there! -said Alpha 5.
Jake nodded. He put Bridge on the sofa and cover him with a blanket, placed on the sofa then, he moved back in front of Conner and Jake and raised his morpher, with them doing the same while Alpha 5 activated the teleporter.
-Ok, guys… this is where everything starts… we are going to need our news powers so when you activate the morpher, scream the animal of your morpher and then activate it! That will allow you to use your new suits and powers. -said, Jake.
-Got it! -said, Mike.
-Let's do this! -said, Conner.
Alpha 5 turned towards them and nodded while Jake raised his morpher and the three of them, at the same time, called for their news powers to appear and give them the push they need.
-Lion Morpher! Activate! -screamed Jake.
-Firebird Morpher! Activate! -screamed Conner.
-Wolf Morpher! Activate! -screamed Mike.
While Jake morphed into his Lion Ranger suit, Conner's was a mix of red with gloves and boots orange while on his chest he had the image of the Firebird in attack and his red helmet had the form of the bird with the visors being his orange eyes. He also had wings on his back, fire red. Mike's suit was light green, samurai style with armor covering the spandex in dark green, on his waist, and a belt where he hold his sword, Masamune. His face was covered by a helmet with the form of a Wolf and his visor was Wolf's grey eyes while in his armor, at the chest, the image of a wolf attacking appeared.
-Lion Ranger! Ready! -screamed Jake.
-Firebird Ranger! Ready! -screamed Conner.
-Wolf Ranger! Ready! -screamed Mike.
Conner and Mike looked at his hands and new armor, they were strong, heavy, and perfect for this fight while Jake moved towards the screen as Alpha 5 finished the calculation to send them there, once he was done, he raised his head and looked at Jake.
-Is ready, Jake. I will take care of Bridge and continue activating this building, you guys need to save as many as they can. -said Alpha 5.
-I will contact you when we are done, Alpha. Thank you.
Jake ran towards the teleporter, followed by Conner and Mike and the three of them stood there, not moving when Alpha 5 activated the device and in a matter of seconds, they disappeared towards their very first mission as a team.
Planet Sirius
When Jake, Conner, and Mike arrived on the planet, they could see the army of the Death Rangers attacking the civilians and the guards of the planet. The White Lion's eyes turned to gold as he scanned the area, looking for something or someone that could give them a location.
That's when he felt his power and saw him. The Death Ranger.
-Rangers… quick, find out where the refuge is and guide as many as you can. -said the White Lion.
The Firebird and the Wolf nodded, jumping one to each side of the planet while the White Lion ran, using his newfound speed, and saw the Death Ranger, fighting someone. He had the face of a dog but fought like a real warrior. He already had a scar on his eyes but the warrior didn't stop fighting and managed to push the Death Ranger off of him, using his sword.
The Death Ranger relaxed and raised his hand, making the warrior levitate while the White Lion ran and jumped, pushing the Death Ranger to the ground then, the White Lion managed to get the warrior and lay him on the ground, gently while the Death Ranger got up.
-Are you ok? -asked Jake.
-Who are…? Wait, this energy…-said the warrior.
-Yeah, I'm Jake… Jake Scott. -said, Jake.
-Anubis Cruger…-said the warrior-… careful!
Jake barely had time to turn around when the Death Ranger pushed him to the ground but Jake roll on the ground and got up when the Death Ranger tried to stab him with his sword. Jake used his hands to stop the sword and felt the burning blade on his skin but refused to give up.
-Zordon… -whispered the Death Ranger.
Jake was forced to knelt as the Death Ranger pushed the sword down, to stab him but suddenly, Jake felt a presence inside him. It was his White Lion, Bastro/Zordon.
Jacob…focus on your energy to repel the attack. -said Bastro/Zordon-…your power is strictly connected to your emotions, use them to fight him!
Jake could feel the power coming to him and did his best to relax, Bastro/Zordon was right. He always felt his energy every time his emotions were involved and now was no different… he only had to focus. He closed his eyes, focusing his energy on pushing the sword, and then, he felt his white aura surrounding him a moment before he pushed the Death Ranger and his sword to the ground.
Jake got up, looking at his hands when he saw Anubis coming to him and raising his sword but the Death Ranger moved his hand, throwing him to Jake's feet before he got up.
-Interesting…
The Death Ranger raised his hand, retrieved his sword, and ran towards Jake, to attack again when Jake got another message.
Call for the Ancestral Lion Sword, Jacob. That is your rightful weapon.
Jake raised his hand and called for it mentally, he saw a white and gold sword appear in front of him. The Ancestral Lion Sword, his weapon. He grabbed it and prepared, blocking the first attack from the Death Ranger while Anubis got up, looking at the two swords clashing and sending sparks around the Rangers.
-Incredible…
Jake and the Death Ranger continued clashing their swords until Jake managed to bring the Death Ranger's sword down and tried to quick him but the Death Ranger grabbed his feet and turned him around, luckily, Jake put his free hand on the ground and kicked the Death Ranger with the other feet, freeing himself from the Death Ranger's grasp.
The Death Ranger took a few steps back as if he was surprised and laughed before he looked at the White Lion Ranger, raising his sword.
-I will make sure you regret this day, Ranger…-said the Death Ranger-… see you soon.
Before Jake could run to him, the Death Ranger called for his Zord, a giant death dragon, and left the planet, leaving his army there to finish the job. Anubis hit the ground while Jake ran towards him and helped him up.
-We still have lives to save. -said, Jake.
-He killed my wife! A Ranger! How could this happen!
Jake could see how distraught Anubis was but the soldiers were still running around them and he needed him focused to understand what was going on and what could they do in this situation. He knelt in front of Anubis and grabbed his shoulders, shaking him to get his attention.
-I'm so sorry this happened Anubis but we need to keep fighting… -said Jake, taking off his helmet with only thinking about it-… the Death Ranger took the energy of my family, my friends, and the girl I love, I know what you are feeling but if we give up now, then no one will be able to stop him and more will suffer, is that what you want?
Anubis raised his head, slowly and looked at Jake. Both the Ranger and the warrior got up and Anubis sighed, looking around as he cleaned his face from the blood, the anger, and the pain.
-You are right… I have to focus and he will pay. -said Anubis-… Jake, our Palace is our refuge, but I'm not sure if we can save all my people… the survivors went there but…
Suddenly, they heard someone flying over them and raised their heads to see Conner, using his winds to fly while he fired fire arrows with his red/orange bow. Not far from them, Mike used his sword, Masamune, to slash soldiers in quick movements then, he jumped back and threw Masamune at another group of soldiers.
With a quick movement of his hands, Mike created six swords, with Masamune in the center and they went to their target, the soldiers that were defeated quickly. Jake nodded, proud of his team before he looked down at Anubis, putting a hand on his shoulder.
-See? We can save as much as we can, Anubis. We can give them the chance to see a new day. -said, Jake.
-How? This planet is lost… there is nothing for us here…-said Anubis, looking at the destroyed planet.
-In Earth. We have a place… there is more than enough room for everyone and we could plan there… create our army of people that can help us bring down the Death Ranger. -said, Jake-… I know is crazy but if we work together, I know we can do it, Anubis.
Anubis looked at Jake for several moments. I was crazy but at the same time, there was something that told him that it could happen, is not the first-time aliens and humans worked together to defend the universe, and this Ranger… was a threat to everyone.
-You may be right, Ranger. Save my people and I will help you on this quest. You have my word.
Jake nodded and both Ranger and warrior ran towards the palace where they hoped to get enough people to save to teleport them to the city on Earth and start working together in a way to stop the Death Ranger before the universe collapsed into his power.
SPD Headquarters (Year 2025)
-As you can see, Jake managed to keep his end of the deal and I did the same. -said Cruger-… after coming here. We started to plan how to proceed and created the SPD Academy, where we would train at first, my people and then, the rest of the world.
-The goal of the Academy is to defend Earth and the Universe from threats like the Death Ranger. SPD means, Space Patrol Delta and is in memory of the guards and officer that died in Sirius, defending us from the Death Ranger before Jake, Conner, and Mike appeared. -explained Kat.
-Jake thought it was the best way to honor them and remind the Death Ranger his actions would come back to haunt him. -said Conner, relaxing against his chair-… of course, we had no idea back then of what would happen.
The Rangers each other, worried as Conner's expression was serious as he played with a pen. Mike looked at Jason.
-It took three months for the Death Ranger to launch his full plan, of course, all that time we tried to look for him but he had ways to hide from us, at least at first. -said Mike, in their minds-…It was March of 2015 when the real war began.
The hologram of Jake appeared again, this time, Jake was wearing the SPD Uniform with white stripes but his jacket was longer like the one Cruger was wearing now so the Rangers assumed Jake was the Commander. He looked exhausted but still smiled.
-The process to create the SPD Academy wasn't easy. We had to work between attacks but thank God we had Alpha 5 and that make the work easier, he also was a great babysitter. -said Jake, smiling-…by the time the real attack started, Bridge was already my son and the more I knew about him, the more I loved him. He is great, his powers are still hard to control since he can read auras but he is working on it. The Ninja Storm master Mike brough gave him mental peace and then he takes Samurai classes with Mike, taking meditation to another level.
Jake sat down, this time beside his father and for the first time, Jason could see his son had a scar on the lip, where hair never grows. Jake looked to his side and smiled, taking something from his pocket. He start to play with it before he could show what it was and when he did, Jason felt his mouth hit the ground.
-March 20th of 2015 was when the first attack was launched and since he stole your energies to bring back your enemies, you can figure out who was our first enemy. -said, Jake-… Rita Repulsa and her putty patrollers. She thought it was going to be an easy fight…
Conner and Mike chuckled when they heard the fun in Jake's voice.
-He fought Rita Repulsa? -asked Billy.
-Yes but to be honest, none of us knew Jake could use the power he had. -said Conner-… the real power of the White Lion's morpher.
