Hello Everyone and welcome back to Something More! I hope you're all enjoying your christmas break. Now this chapter… well just read the chapter title and the rest should be pretty self explanatory.
Enjoy!
And I do not own 'Adventure Time'. I think I forget to add that last chapter but who the hell actually cares, I'm not even sure why bother doing it.
Chapter 12
Fiona the Lost Human of Aaa (part 1)
Finn gave a yawn when he awoke the next morning, he tried to rub the sleep out of his eyes but he couldn't move his arms. 'What's going on, and why am I so cold?" Finn blinked open his eyes and saw that he was frozen in a block of ice up to his midsection.
"What the hell?!" Finn tried to break free from the ice to no avail.
"Oh good you're awake, now we can get started!"
Finn looked in front of him and saw Ice King sitting in his ice easy chair, he had a book in his hands and a grin on his face. It was then that Finn realized he was in the Ice King's home. "Ice King? What's going on? Why do you have me frozen here?" he demanded.
"Let us go this instant Ice King!" Finn turned his head and saw Princess Bubblegum in her nightgown to his left frozen up to her neck, she looked furious. Finn looked to his right and saw Jake completely frozen with a look of shock and anger on his face.
Ice King giggled with glee. "I brought the three of you here for a special surprise." he held up the book. "Behold! The greatest fanfic I have ever written! It is, dare I say, my masterpiece."
Finn raised an eyebrow. "You kidnapped us just so you show us your fanfiction?"
Ice King giggled. "I wanted it to be a surprise."
Finn was about to comment further but he heard a voice coming from the entrance. "Hey everybody!" It was LSP, next to her floated Marceline wearing her grey tank top with a pair of blue sweatpants.
"Hey hey, glad you guys could make it!" said IK.
"LSP! Marceline!" Bubblegum shouted. "Get us out of here!"
Marcy floated over to PB and rested an arm on her frozen shoulder with a grin. "Oh I would Bonnie, really I would. But I feel like if I were to do that, then it would just put a damper on this fun little get-together… so…"
"MARCELINE I WILL CREMATE YOU IN THE SUNLIG-" Ice King froze PB's mouth over before she could finish that threat.
"Sorry sweetie, but it's for the sake of the shindig." IK said apologetically. Bubblegum responded with an angry muffling and a look that could kill, much to Marcy's amusement.
LSP took a seat on Finn's waist high ice block. "So what's up Ice King? Why'd ya call us over?" she said as she leaned back against Finn's chest.
"Yes Ice King, please tell me why I am in this predicament." Finn said flatly.
"I already told you Finn, I'm gonna read you all my newest and bestest fanfic." Ice King responded.
LSP let out a long raspberry of disappointment. "You brought us all here to read us your fanfic?! You actually write fanfiction?! That is like, the lamest thing ever!" ;)
"Hold on now, I got a feeling you're all gonna like this one." IK said. "And besides, I've got snacks and refreshments." Ice King whistled and a few penguins waddled over carrying trays of canned sodas and bags of chicks and trail mix over their heads.
LSP grabbed some trail mix. "Oh okay, if you're handing out free snacks and drinks then I'll stay for as long you want."
Marceline grabbed a red soda can and drained the color out of it. "Yeah me too, keep the red stuff coming penguins! You want anything Bonnie?"
Bonnie replied with muffled screaming.
"Yeah I didn't think so but I thought it was only polite to ask."
Finn sighed in defeat and grabbed a grape soda off one of the penguin trays, the label on the can read 'Super Porp'. "Okay Ice King, let's hear your fanfic."
"You got it! Is everybody comfortable?"
A penguin placed a bag of chips on top Jake's frozen form and PB continued her muffled yelling.
"Okay great!" Ice King cleared his throat. "'Fiona the Lost Human of Aaa'. Written by the Ice King."
"Wait a minute, it this just a gender swap version of my-"
"Hold all questions and comments until the end of the story please. Anyway, Fiona… Finn what's your last name?"
"...Campbell."
"Fiona Campbell was a bright, purehearted girl who lived on an island governed by her robot dad. But one day, things took a turn for the worst."
Fiona woke up with a headache, she rubbed her head and sat up with some difficulty. "Uuuugh… what happened?" Fiona looked around and fear took her as she realized that she was floating on the ocean aboard a large piece of driftwood. No land could be seen more miles.
Fiona's headache was soon forgotten as panic took hold of her. "Oh no, no no no no." she looked around frantically for any sign of her island, all Fiona saw was ocean. Fiona shut her eyes tight as the tears began to flow, she balled one hand into a fist and slammed it on the driftwood. "Thanks alot mom!" she screamed.
Fortunately, it was a calm day for the seas. Fiona floated leisurely on her driftwood, with only the smallest of ocean waves moving her about. After letting the tears flow, Fiona recomposed herself and stood up. She took a few breaths to help her relax. "Alright, let's take it from the top: Your no good mom got you sent off overseas on a piece of driftwood with no provisions, you have no way of contacting your dad or anybody else on the island and this just sucks so hard!" Fiona rubbed her temples. "No, no, don't lose yourself Fiona. Let's just see if we're alright."
Fiona patted herself down, checking for any injuries. Her white bunny hat was still on her head, her blue shirt and matching blue skirt were undamaged as well as her mom's old jean jacket. Surprisingly enough, Fiona didn't have a scratch on her. "Huh… seems like my luck just might be turning around." she said with a smile.
Fiona's stomach rumbled and her face turned green. "Ooooooh, spoke too soon."
Fiona passed out after the seasickness emptied out her insides. A wave of salt water woke her up, it was dark and the night sky was filled with stars and a full moon dominated the heavens.
And she was on land.
Fiona looked around and realized that she had washed up on a beach, Fiona belly crawled off the driftwood and onto the sand. She gave a small, slightly crazed laugh before her head plopped down into the sand. Fiona groaned in misery, her head and stomach were tag teaming her. "Uuuuuuuuuuugh… God… Allah… Jove… Satan… Bon Jovi… any one of deities who mankind used to blindly worship… kill me now." Fiona reached her hand up and pulled her bunny hat off of her head, letting her rich, golden hair down. She folded her hat up and placed it under her head as a makeshift pillow, after much moaning and groaning, she fell back to sleep.
Fiona awoke the next morning in a fishnet hammock, much to her confusion. Fiona tried to get up but it was a chore just to move, she was tired, hungry and thirsty. Fiona was resting under a palm leaf cabana that looked like someone had made it themself. Her bunny hat was laying on her stomach and her long, golden hair practically acted as a mattress. "Hmm, maybe dad was right, maybe I do need a haircut." Fiona thought out loud.
"Nah, I think your hair is nice."
Fiona turned her head and saw a pale boy her age with messy, black hair grinning at her. "Sup."
Fiona yelped in fear and scrambled out of the hammock, she fell face first into the sand. The strange boy chuckled. "Rise and shine blondie, didn't mean to scare ya but I really don't regret it either. That was kinda funny." The boy had an arrogant and smug voice and his eyes shone with mischief. He was wearing a red and black buttoned up flannel with a pair of blue jeans and sneakers. His skin was unnaturally pale and his hair was as black as the night sky.
Fiona spit the sand out of her mouth and glared at the boy. "Shut up. Who are you?"
The boy shrugged. "Which one do you want; me to shut up, or me to tell you who I am?" he asked.
Fiona stared at the boy in annoyance before letting her head fall back into sand. "I don't care, just go ahead and kill me if that's your plan." She muttered miserably.
"Geesh girl, if I did want to kill you then you certainly managed to suck the fun right out of it. But no, I'm not gonna kill you." the boy said.
"Oh yeah, then whaddya want?" Fiona asked bitterly.
"Uh, to help you, genius." the boy said, a bit of aggravation had creeped into his tone. "You can't even stand up, you need my help whether you like it or not." Fiona gasped in shock as the boy floated off of the ground and flew over to her. He picked her up like she didn't weigh anything and held her bridal style. Fiona couldn't keep her blush at bay. 'Man he's strong… and kind of hot… wait what?"
Fiona shook her head clear and stared at the boy. "Who are you?" she asked incredulously.
"Name's Marshall, Marshall Lee." the boy responded. He leaned his face a little closer to Fiona's. "And you are?"
Fiona's blush returned in full. "I… I'm Fiona, Fiona Campbell." Fiona tilted her head. "If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you?"
Marshall grinned, revealing two white fangs. Fiona also noticed the bite marks on his neck. "Take a wild guess."
Fiona's eyes widened and she gasped when she realized it. "Your a-a-a-a-"
"A-a-a-a… a vampire ya dingus. Look you don't need to freak out, I-"
Fiona headbutted the vampire in the mouth before he could finish. Marshall shouted in pain and dropped Fiona, who instantly crawled out of the shade of the cabana and into the morning sunlight. Once she was in the protection of the sun, she laid in the sand and panted in fear and exhaustion.
Marshall still had his hands covering his mouth. "OW! Right in the fang! Dammit those are sensitive!" Marshal glared at Fiona but dared not leave the cabana's protection from the sunlight. "What the blood is your problem?!"
"You're a vampire! You were gonna suck my blood and make me your zombie servant or something!" Fiona shouted.
"Don't flatter yourself." Marshall Lee pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned in annoyance. "Listen. I am not going to hurt you. If I did want to hurt you then I probably would have done it already, wouldn't I? You need my help. Otherwise, you. Will. Probably. Bite it." he explained slowly.
Fiona stared at the vampire for a while, she then struggled to her feet and walked back over to Marshall. Once she was in the shade, Fiona collapsed into Marshall's arms. "Woah, woah, you need to take it easy." Marshall's tone had gotten surprisingly soft. "Let's get you back into the hammock." Marshall carried Fiona back to the hammock and laid her down, he then picked up her bunny and handed it back to her.
Fiona took the hat. "Thanks." she said before putting it back on her head and tucking her hair underneath.
"How do you fit all that hair under your hat?" Marshall asked.
"Ya gotta fold it a certain way, plus I just have really awesome hair." Fiona answered.
Marshall chuckled. "Nice. Listen, I can't go anywhere because of the sunlight obvi, but I can call over a friend to bring you something to eat. Cool?"
Fiona smiled. "Cool. Thank you Marshall, sorry about headbutting you in the fang."
Marshall smiled back. "Ah don't worry about it."
After Marshall made the call, Fiona decided to ask him about her whereabouts. "Hey Marshall? Where am I exactly?"
Marshall looked over at Fiona. "You're in Aaa."
Fiona raised an eyebrow. "Aaa?"
"Yeah I know, sounds dumb. This used to be where all the humans lived, before the war… before everything." Marshall's voice became somewhat mournful.
Fiona's eyes widened. "Wait… for real?! This is our old homeland?!"
"Oh yeah, and things have changed drastically let me tell ya. You think I'm an oddity? Girl you ain't seen nothing yet." Marshall looked out across the beach and smiled. "Here comes a pretty good example."
Fiona turned her head towards the beach and saw something weird headed towards them. It looked like a purple, lumpy, floating meatball with arms and no legs. When it got closer, Fiona saw that it had a golden star in it's forehead and a wispy mustache. "Hey Marshall Lee, I got the stuff!" The thing raised a grocery bag in the air and spoke with a loud, high pitched but manish voice. It's eyes went wide when it noticed Fiona. "Woah. Who dis?"
"LSP this is Fiona. Fiona, meet my friend Lumpy Space Prince. LSP for short." said Marshall.
Fiona stared at LSP in bewilderment. "Ummmm… hi?"
"Whaddup girl?" LSP replied with a flirty smile. "You doing anything later? I could take you back to my place if you're free."
Marshall Lee rolled his eyes. "'His place' is just his hobo campsite out in the woods."
"Hey! I put effort into my place! Actual effort!" LSP shouted.
"Fine whatever. Ya got the stuff?"
LSP grumbled and pulled a thermos out of the bag, he handed it to Marshall who unscrewed the top and poured some of the contents into the lid. The vampire brought the cup to Fiona's lips. "Here drink up, it's chicken soup."
Fiona drank the broth greedily, she drained the cup in seconds. "More please."
Marshall refilled the cup. "Slow it down Fiona, you'll get sick if you drink it too fast." Fiona heeded his warning and drank the soup at a slower pace, pretty soon she finished off the whole thermos. Fiona laid back in the hammock. "I feel… so much better." she stated.
"Your welcome girl." LSP said. He pulled out a bottle of water from the bag. "If you're like, still thirsty, I got some H2O for yo."
With some minor difficulty and some support from Marshall, Fiona got out of the hammock and walked over to the Lumpy Space Prince. She took the water bottle and treated herself to a drink. "Man, water has never tasted better. Thank you Lumpy Space Prince."
"Ah, call me LSP." the prince said with a modest wave and a light blush.
Fiona smiled, but when she gazed out across the sea her smile was replaced by a sad frown. Marshall Lee took notice of this. "Hey what's wrong?" he asked.
A tear escaped from Fiona's eye, she wiped it away in frustration and turned to her new vampire friend. "I'm fine Marshall, I just… I'm worried I'll never get back home. My island is… pretty far out there from what I can tell."
Marshall's gaze was full of sympathy. "Well… I could make a few calls and see if I can't find you a way home." he offered.
Fiona looked up at Marshall with hopeful eyes. "You can?"
Marshall smiled. "Sure thing girl. I could call Crab Prince, that guy still owes me a solid."
LSP shook her head. "Nah Marshall, we should take her to go see Prince Gumball. He'll know how to get her home."
Whoever Prince Gumball was, the mention of his name seemed to bother Marshall. "We don't need that smartass, he's got other stuff going on anyway." the vampire stated. "As if he's gonna go out of his way just to help Fiona."
Fiona raised her hand like she was in class. "Um hey, yeah uh, who's Prince Gumball now?"
"He rules the Candy Kingdom." LSP explained. "Prince Gumball is like, a total wet blanket, but he's like, super into science stuff. He should be able to get you home no problem."
Marshall scoffed. "My advice?, ask anybody else. Gumball ain't gonna help you if he's got nothing to gain out of it."
Fiona thought for a minute, if this Gumball guy was a scientist then he would most likely be able to contact Creator's Island. "I need to see Prince Gumball." she declared.
Marshall sighed. "Alright fine, we'll take you to Gumball." he said reluctantly. "Let me grab my umbrella and we can leave right now if you want."
Fiona smiled. "sounds good." 'See you soon dad.'
Marshall and LSP led Fiona through the forest, Fiona was actually enjoying the walk. The forest was peaceful and full of life, Fiona giggled as a butterfly tried to land on her nose. "No free rides ya bum." she told the little insect in a joking manner.
"Enjoying the nature walk blondie?" Marshall called over his shoulder.
Fiona speedwalked to catch up to the floating boys. "Aaa doesn't seem like all that bad of a place." she commented.
"Oh I know what you mean girl." said LSP. "I left my crummy dimension just to live it up in this place."
"You're from another dimension?" Fiona asked in wonder.
"Lump ya I am. I was the prince of Lumpy Space." LSP stated proudly.
"Now he lives out in the woods and spends his days crashing parties or breaking into people's houses." Marshall added.
"Don't judge my life choices!" LSP shouted.
"I wasn't judging, I do the exact same thing."
Fiona decided to change the subject. "So what's Prince Gumball like?" she asked.
Marshall Lee grimaced, his grip on his umbrella tightened. "Gumball is a talented scientist, he created all of his citizens in addition to creating his entire kingdom. But he's close-minded and quick to judge, an arrogant asshole who thinks he knows best."
Fiona tilted her head. "Okay, I take it you're not a big fan of Gumball. Did you used to know him or something?" she asked curiously.
The question seemed to take Marshall by surprise, he looked away before Fiona could read his face. "A long time ago." was all he said. It wasn't bitterness or anger in his voice that Fiona heard, it sounded more like sorrow.
Fiona looked to LSP for help, but he only shrugged at her. She then realized that the trees were no longer green, but pink. "Why do the trees look like cotton candy?" she asked.
Marshal looked up at the pink foliage. "We're almost there." he pointed out.
The trio emerged from the cotton candy forest into a field of green. The Candy Kingdom stood before them. Fiona's eyes went wide and starry. "Wooooooah." she said in her mesmerized state, it was the most beautiful thing Fiona had ever seen.
Marshall smirked. "You like what you see huh?, how about a closer look." Fiona yelped as Marshall scooped her up and flew over the kingdom walls.
"Bye Fiona! Good luck!" LSP shouted. "Call me when you get the chance!"
The Candy Kingdom looked even more impressive from above, Fiona clung tightly to Marshall as he carried her over the sweet smelling city. Down below she saw candy people strolling down the candy streets past the candy buildings. "By the Creator's… this is incredible."
Marshall smiled at Fiona's childlike wonder. He kept his umbrella up to protect him from the sun as he carried her. "Yeah Gumball put a lot of hard work into this place, I'll give him that much." Fiona rested her head against Marshall as she took in the sights, causing the vampire to actually blush a bit. "I'll… I'll just take you to the castle." Marshall flew Fiona to the cake shaped castle, they flew in through a window to avoid confrontation with the odd looking banana men patrolling the castle.
Once inside, Marshall put the awestruck girl down on the pink carpet floor and folded up his umbrella. Fiona looked down the corridor, she wanted to take a bite out of everything. She instead turned to Marshall Lee and asked "Where can we find Prince Gumball?"
Marshall shrugged. "On any other day?, cooped up in his lab working on a science experiment in solitude. But today?, follow me." the vampire boy drifted ahead and Fiona followed. They eventually made it to a large pink double door guarded by a pair of banana guards, shouting could be heard on the other side of the door.
"Halt, who goes there?" one banana guard said. Fiona gave a small giggle at the banana's naive voice and funny appearance.
"We're the entertainment for this afternoon." Marshall lied. "I believe his royal hiney is expecting us."
The banana who had spoken rubbed his chin. "Aren't you Marshall Lee the Vampire King?" he asked.
Marshall grinned. "Yeah that's me, ya want an autograph my banana bro?"
"Um, no thank you. Also you need to leave immediately, you're on the 'Don't let them in' list." the banana guard explained.
Marshall snickered. "The 'Don't let them in' list? Oh that's cute." Marshall floated up and placed a hand on each banana guard's shoulder. "Listen to all that shouting in there guys, sounds like it's really going down huh?"
The banana guards both looked at the door then back at Marshall Lee.
"Yeah."
"I guess so."
"And do you either of you know what would really help lighten things up in there?" Marshall asked.
"A nightlight?"
"Helium?"
"Hah, I like the way you guys think. But I was talking about music, my fine fruits."
The guards tilted their heads. "Music?" they asked.
"Well yeah, of course." Marshall floated back to Fiona's side. "Here me out guys; if you let us in, then me and my friend here will calm everything down with our unquestionably awesome music. And you know who everyone will thank?" he pointed at both the guards. "You guys. You'll be remembered as heroes after this."
Both the guards' eyes shone with excitement. "We'll be heroes?" they asked in unison.
"Heck ya. So whaddya say, will you guys let us in?"
The banana guards moved aside. "Go right on in!"
"Thanks guys." Marshall opened the door and Fiona followed him through. They emerged inside a sugary auditorium of some kind, the pink seats were filled with all manner of bizarre creatures. Fiona beheld the strange beings in both wonder and fear, the majority of them wore crowns on their heads signifying royal status.
The one speaking at the podium in front of the audience was the one who caught Fiona's attention in particular, another humanoid boy like Marshall but the two of them looked to be as different as night and day. The speaker had light pink skin and pink, gummy hair set in a neat hairstyle. He wore a fancy purple collared pink tunic with purple sleeves and a pair of hot pink pants. A small gold crown sat on his head.
'By the Creators he is cute.' Fiona thought as she stared at the pink boy giving his speech. Marshall Lee just rolled his eyes. "He's giving a speech so this may take a while." he muttered to Fiona. "Come on, let's take a seat in the back." Fiona did as Marshall instructed and sat next to him in the back of the audience, no one appeared to have noticed them.
"So that's Prince Gumball?" Fiona whispered to Marshall.
Marshall scoffed. "Yeah that's him, giving a speech for like, the fifth time this week. The guy never shuts up until he's sure everyone's heard him."
Fiona looked at Marshall curiously. "Why do you hate him so much?" she asked.
Marshall turned to Fiona. "I don't hate him, I just…" he turned away. "Forget it."
Fiona gave him a curious look before returning her attention to Prince Gumball, who continued his speech to the crowd of royals. "In conclusion my fellow princes of Aaa, I urge you all to support my campaign to remove the Ice Queen from her position as the warden of the Lich Queen's prison!" He spoke like a true prince, with dignity and authority but not without kindness. "The sorceress of ice and snow simply can not be trusted with this task, surely you understand this."
"And let me guess, you wish to pick up the mantle once again as the Lich's warden." a voice from the crowd spoke, Fiona couldn't tell who from her seat in the back.
"Of course." Gumball responded. "I have all the proper equipment to make sure the Lich never escapes."
"Oh yeah, like that worked out so well last time." The same voice spoke out, this time the speaker stood up from his seat, revealing himself to be another boy who appeared to be literally made of fire. His skin glowed orangish yellow and his mohawk was made of red flames, revealing pointed elvish ears. He wore a sleeveless, orange and red tunic with a ruby decorating his chest complimented by orange trousers stuffed into charcoal black boots. Red bracers covered his wrists and a red diamond adorned his forehead in the place of a crown.
'By the Guardian, I just might consider moving here.' is what Fiona thought when she saw the fiery boy.
"The Ice Queen has held the Lich prisoner for five years now with no fowl, what right do any of us have to stop her from doing a good job?" he also spoke with authority but his voice was etched with annoyance, like he was sick of having this argument.
Prince Gumball's brow furrowed. "Flame Prince, you battled the Lich, you saw the carnage she wrought, the Lich killed the great heroine Millie right before your very eyes. You truly believe the safest course of action is to just leave Aaa's doom in the care of a senile madwoman?"
Fiona heard Marshall give a small angry growl next her, but kept her focus on the two princes.
"I believe we are all safer if you decide to stay out of it." Flame Prince replied. "What good has ever come of your interference?" His eyes narrowed and his fire intensified. "The last time you decided to do what you thought was right, it cost me my childhood."
There were murmurs amongst the royals after Flame Prince was done, a sentient ball of slime with a crown spoke up. "I believe your intentions are noble Prince Gumball." he said. "Your desire to protect Aaa is truly admirable in my opinion. However, I also believe that now that the Lich is once again imprisoned then we dare not disturb that hornet's nest. It has been five years now since the Lich broke out, five years of peace since the bloodshed. I beg you Gumball, let it go."
Gumball looked out across the crowd of princes. "So do none of you agree with my trepidation?" No one responded, Gumball sighed. "Very well, this meeting is adjourned. I thank you all for attending. Please help yourself to as many snacks and drinks as you desire before you leave." he gestured to the snack table off to the side of the auditorium.
The Princes of Aaa exited the room after each grabbing something from the snack table, after they all cleared out Marshall got up and motioned for Fiona to follow. The two of them made their way to Prince Gumball, who remained at the podium rubbing his temples in aggravation. "Can't they see the danger we're all in?" he asked himself.
"I think it just burns you up that they trust the Ice Queen more than they trust you." Marshall said.
Gumball finally noticed Marshall, he looked surprised to see the vampire but then that surprise turned to annoyance. "Marshall? What are you doing here?" he demanded, he then turned his attention towards Fiona and looked at her curiously. "And who is this?" he asked perplexed.
Fiona stepped forward and rubbed her hands together nervously. "Um… greetings your highness." she began, earning a snicker from Marshall. "I came here to see if you could help me find a way home."
Sympathy mixed into the prince's look of curiosity. "Is that so?"
"Yes. You see, I come from a far away island and I was told you could help me get back home."
Gumball rubbed his chin and looked at Fiona in thought before smiling. "Well then, I would be happy to help you get home miss…"
"Oh uhhh, Fiona." she responded with a blush. "Fiona Campbell. My dad is the leader of our island, he would reward you greatly for bringing me back."
Gumball raised a hand. "I ask for no reward Miss Campbell, truth be told I could use a distraction from…" he looked off to the side. "Current events."
Marshall Lee raised an eyebrow. "Wow, no strings attached or anything? Man Bartholomew, you've gotten soft."
Prince Gumball glared at Marshall. "It seems you still know how to wear out your welcome with a single sentence Marshall Lee, you may leave now."
That seemed to upset Marshall, he looked like he was about to retaliate but Fiona stepped between them. "Woah woah, settle down guys. Listen your highness, Marshall saved my life. When I washed up on the beach exhausted and out of batteries, Marshall helped me get back on my feet." she explained.
This seemed to surprise Gumball. "Okay fine." he said begrudgingly after giving it some thought. "He can stay."
Fiona smiled. "Thank you your highness. Now, you mind if I go eat the leftovers at the snack table? I'm hungry enough to eat the snack table."
Gumball's smile returned. "Go right ahead Miss Campbell, later this evening you can join me for supper if you like."
Fiona blushed. "Uhhhhh okay bye." she ran to the snacks as soon as that last word passed through her lips and began devouring everything the princes left behind.
Marshall Lee smirked at Gumball. "You've known her for like, three minutes and you already invited her over for dinner? You've gotten bold too Barry."
Gumball ignored Marshall's teasing and looked at him curiously. "I have to ask Marshall, why are you helping Fiona? I'm actually impressed by your willingness to aid her."
This seemed to catch Marshall off guard, a faint blush formed on his cheeks even. "She washed up on the beach seasick and shivering, what was I supposed to do, leave her there for the whywolves?"
Gumball's eyes widened and a small smile formed on his lips. "You're still a sour candy with a sweet center it seems."
Marshall Lee groaned. "Please do not use candy metaphors to describe me. Look man, she needs to get back home with the rest of the humans and well… I guess I'm just picking up where I left off by helping her-"
"Woah woah woah, hold on. She's a human?!" Gumball asked in astonishment. "I thought she was some rabbit girl!"
"Nah man, Fiona's a human. They're not extinct, she's from an island full of them." Marshall replied.
Gumball looked over at Fiona, who was now lying on the table in bliss after eating all the snacks. "So the entire land of Aaa… is completely foreign to her." he summarized.
Marshall nodded. "And she's all alone, alone and afraid."
Fiona let out a happy belch over on the table.
"Well… not afraid at the moment but you get the idea." Marshall's expression turned serious. "She's on her own in a world she doesn't know, you and I both know what that's like."
Gumball looked away, grimacing in remembrance of past hardships. He looked back at Marshall. "Alright look, she needs my help to get home and she already trusts you. Getting her home will be my task, and making her feel at home here will be yours. Deal?"
Marshall shrugged. "Sure thing Barry, I got a place she can crash if you can't find her a place here in the kingdom."
Gumball gave another small smile, before he could say anything else though a crashing sound drew the two boys' attention towards the snack table. They saw Fiona lying on the floor in a pile of broken table and snacks. The embarrassed girl looked over at the two boys. "Uhhhhhhhh… your table broke."
Marshall Lee chuckled. "This is gonna be fun."
That evening, Gumball, Marshall and Fiona were seated at the castle dining table for supper. The candy chefs came and presented a plate of spaghetti for the still hungry human, a plate of spiced candies for the prince and a bowl of tomatoes for the vampire. Fiona wanted to just devour her food but decided to show some etiquette in front of the prince.
Marshall sucked the red out of a tomato. "So Barry, what's the game plan to get blondie here home?" he asked.
Gumball picked at his food in thought. "If Fiona has no knowledge of the coordinates of Creator's Island as she calls it, then I would have to survey the ocean as far as my scanners can reach. However, Fiona's island must be extremely far out there to have avoided contact with Aaa for so long."
Fiona swallowed a mouthful of spaghetti. "Yeah we're pretty reclusive, plus a gigantic robot keeps any and all intruders and monsters at bay."
Gumball rubbed his chin. "You wouldn't happen to have any way of contacting your island would you?"
Fiona's eyes widened. "Oh shoot!" she reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a pink phone. "I have this, but I don't think you'll get a signal."
Fiona handed the phone to Gumball, who studied the device curiously. "This could actually be of incredible assistance. I just might be able to locate and even contact your island."
Fiona smiled. "Awesome!"
Just then, a butterscotch Candyperson walked into the dining room wearing a butler's outfit. "Prince Gumball, Cake the Cat has arrived." she said in a thick scottish accent.
"Oh wonderful!" said Gumball. "Go ahead and show her in Butterscotch Butler."
"Yes your highness." the candy replied before leaving.
Fiona looked at Gumball curiously. "Cake the Cat?"
"A friend of mine I called over earlier ago." the prince explained. "I was hoping she would volunteer as your guide here in Aaa."
Marshall raised an eyebrow. "I thought that was my job?" he asked.
"Well Marshall let's be honest, Cake is far more… favorable to the people of Aaa than you are. You are however, more than welcome to accompany her to keep her safe." Gumball explained.
Marshall grabbed another tomato and sucked the red out of it. "So I'm her bodyguard slash insect repellent huh?, with me around no one would dare mess with her."
"You know, I can hold my own in a fight." Fiona said. "I beat up bullies and thieves all the time."
"Who's beatin' up bullies and thieves?, I want a piece of that action!"
The three of them turned their head to see a cat run into the dining room. The cat was white with cream patches of fur. Fiona marveled at the unique feline. "Kitty!" she exclaimed.
The cat crossed her arms. "Who you callin' 'kitty' girl?" she asked with a sassy voice. "I'll have you know I am a-" she noticed Marshall in the room and let out an angry hiss. "What's that bloodsucker doing here!" she then grew to the size and bulk of a troll. "Not today ya cretan!"
Gumball raised his hands. "Cake calm down, Marshall Lee is a guest here!"
Cake raised an eyebrow. "You serious?"
Marshall, who hadn't even flinched at the cat's anger, sucked up another tomato. "'Fraid so Cake, geez I said I was sorry for giving you that heart attack what more do you want?"
Cake growled before shrinking back down. "I've got my eye on you ya overgrown mosquito." she said with narrowed eyes.
Fiona watched the whole thing with wide eyes of excitement and wonder. "How did you do that?" she asked.
Cake looked at the human. "Oh you mean this honey?" she raised a paw and her hand morphed into the shape of her own body. "Just a little something I can do." hand-Cake explained smugly.
Fiona's eye's sparkled. "Woooooah."
Gumball cleared his throat. "Cake, there's a reason I called you over here." the prince explained Fiona's entire situation to the cat. Once he was done Cake looked over at Fiona with sad eyes.
"Oh you poor baby." the cat stretched over to Fiona and crawled onto her lap, where she lied down and got comfy. "Go ahead and pet me girl, I'm your temporary support animal. Scratching behind the ears is particularly enjoyable."
Fiona scratched the cat behind the ears as instructed, resulting in a happy and content purr. "Oooh that's the spot. You and I are gonna get along just fine honey."
Fiona smiled at the Cake, then looked back up at Gumball. "Okay so… what now?" she asked.
It was Marshall that spoke. "Now… we get you a place to stay."
Later that night, Fiona, Cake, Marshall and Gumball were standing in front of a large treehouse. Fiona thought the place looked incredible, like something a fairy tale elf would live in. Gumball looked at the house with a thoughtful look on his face. "This old place? I'm surprised you kept it in such good shape Marshall, I figured you and your girlfriend would have torn it down by now." the prince commented.
"Ex-girlfriend, thank you very much." Marshall stated. "And yeah, I took care of the place. I prefer the cave though, so I don't really come here often." he turned to Fiona. "The place is all yours blondie, keys are on the table inside… I think."
Fiona looked at the vampire in shock. "You're really letting me stay here?"
Marshall shrugged. "Sure why not?" he responded nonchalantly.
Gumball walked up to Marshall's side. "I hope your stay in Aaa is a pleasant one Fiona, I promise I will have you home before you know it." he said a smile.
Fiona stared at the two boys for a bit before rushing them and wrapping an arm around both their necks in an embrace. She hugged them tightly. "Thank you both… for everything." she said.
Gumball and Marshall both blushed at the girl's affection, Fiona clung to them for a bit longer before releasing them. "Either of you guys… maybe wanna stay the night?" she asked bashfully.
Gumball rubbed the back of his head. "I… I would love to, but I should get to work on finding your island." the prince gave Fiona a smile. "I'll see you tomorrow I hope." and with that, Gumball left for the Candy Kingdom.
Marshall rubbed his shoulder. "I would but there's someon-something, I need to check on." he said. Marshall Lee floated up into the air. "Later Fiona." he said before flying off.
Cake turned to Fiona with a grin. "Well how's about that. You got the hots for Prince Gumball and the Vampire King?"
Fiona blushed fiercely. "What?! No! That… that's stupid, I…"
"Oh alright, that's enough." Cake said. "Tell you what Fiona girl, I'll bunk with you tonight and in the morning I'll make you some breakfast. How does that sound?"
Fiona smiled at the kind cat. "That sounds pretty good actually."
"Ah yeah baby!" Cake exclaimed.
When it was time to call it a night, Fiona lied down in the animal skin bed wearing some pajamas she found in the wardrobe. Cake decided to sleep in one of the wardrobe drawers.
Cake let out a yawn. "Goodnight Fiona girl."
Fiona stared at the ceiling. "Goodnight Cake." She responded.
"And hey don't worry, we'll get you home no sweat. You just wait and see." Cake added.
Fiona didn't respond right away, she just kept her gaze on the ceiling. "Hey Cake, can I be real with you for a second?" She suddenly asked.
Cake raised an eyebrow. "Sure girl, go ahead."
Fiona took a breath. "Everything happened so quickly, my mom trying to use me to escape the island, the Island Guardian sending me across the ocean, ending up in this weird place. I've been trying my best to play it cool, but the truth is…" A tear fell from Fiona's eye. "I'm scared Cake, I'm scared I'll never see my dad again, I'm scared I'll never see Kevin or Sidney or Crazy Woman Willow. For the love of the Creators, I'd do anything just to see Dr. Clean again. You, Marshall and Prince Gumball have been super nice to me, and I can't thank you guys enough for that. But, I still can't shake away the feeling that I'm doomed to die here in Aaa."
The tears were now flowing freely, Cake was watching Fiona's distress with the affection of a mother cat. The feline crawled over to Fiona and leapt onto her chest, without saying a word Cake lied down and snuggled up against Fiona and went to sleep purring happily.
Fiona stared at Cake's sleeping form on her chest, she wiped away her tears and smiled. She laid her head back down and closed her eyes. 'Who knows?, maybe I'll like it here.' was her final thought before falling asleep.
Ice King closed his book. "End of chapter one, chapter two coming soon." the mad wizard looked around gleefully. "So what did ya guys think?, pretty good stuff huh?"
Finn gave him a weird look. "I'm curious as to how you got a lot of that information, like how do you know about Old Man Willow and Sarah?"
Ice King tilted his head. "Who are they?"
"Your characters in the book Fiona mentioned, Crazy Lady Willow and… you know what?, forget it."
"What the lump was up with Lumpy Space Prince! You made him basically the exact same as me!" LSP complained.
Ice King raised his hand defensively. "Hey don't get mad at me, I sometimes forget that you're actually a girl."
LSP narrowed her eyes. "Your days are numbered Ice King." she said darkly.
Marceline was looking at Ice King curiously. "So Ice King… does Marshall Lee have a messed up past or something?"
Ice King nodded vigorously. "Oh yeah he's got a really tragic backstory, but I don't wanna spoil anything."
Marceline continued to give him a weird look but remained silent.
"Hey Ice King, ya mind unfreezing us now?" Finn asked, Bubblegum's muffled scream sounded out in agreement.
"Oh yeah, sure." Ice King snapped his fingers and the ice holding Finn, Jake and Bubblegum shattered into pieces.
Jake collapsed on the ground and glared at the Ice King. "Ice King, what the flimflam is wrong with-ooh snacks!" Jake instantly forgot about being frozen and grabbed a few bags of chicks and a soda from a penguin.
Princess Bubblegum smoothed out her nightgown and glared daggers at the Ice King. "I swear to glob, if you didn't keep Ooo's demise in your basement I would…" she took a breath. "Never mind. Jake, would you kindly give me a ride back to the castle?"
Jake finished his snacks and downed the rest of his soda. "Sure no problem princess, you need a ride Finn?"
Finn looked at Marcy, who was watching Ice King argue with Gunter about his book. She had an odd look on her face, it almost looked like longing.
Finn turned back to Jake. "Nah I'm a good man, I'll just walk back no big deal."
Jake tilted his head. "Okay man, if you say so." he said uncertainly. Jake inflated himself so he could carry PB and the two of them took off.
After they left, Finn walked up to LSP, who was flirting with one of the penguins. "So tell me… you ever made out with royalty before?" she asked the penguin with a flirty smile.
The penguin just waddled away.
"Well fine, as if I'd wanna hook up with someone half my lumpin' size!" LSP shouted after the penguin.
"Hey LSP?"
LSP turned to Finn. "Oh hey Finn, what's up?"
"I just wanted to ask you something." Finn responded.
LSP's face expression turned hopeful and excited. "Yeah?"
"Well… it might not be either of our business, but…" he pointed to Marcy, who was now holding IK back from attacking Gunter. "What's the deal with those two?"
LSP's hopeful look deflated. "Oh… well that's disappointing. Anyway, I like, have no idea either Finn. Marcy has just always had a soft spot for the sad, old weirdo."
Finn raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Yeah it's like, the weirdest thing. Marcy won't tell me what the deal is, but she's always been pretty protective of the Ice King." They both looked over at Marcy, who was now comforting the Ice King, letting him cry into her shoulder as she rubbed his back affectionately.
Finn remembered Marceline telling him how the Ice King became the Lich's warden, it was Marcy that called over the wizards to help him. And when Ice King and Flame Princess went head to head it was Marcy that saved him from the princess' fury. "Do they have a history or something?" Finn asked.
LSP shrugged. "Lump if I know. I wouldn't bring it up with Marcy if I were you though, she like, gets all moody whenever I ask her about it."
Finn looked back at Marcy, she was tucking the Ice King in bed with Gunter cuddled up next to him. The vampire was singing the deranged, old wizard a lullaby, she had a beautiful singing voice and didn't seem to notice or care that Finn and LSP were still there.
Finn looked at the two of them curiously, then he returned his attention to LSP. "We should go."
Finn and LSP left the Ice King's home, leaving the two living remnants of the past behind.
Badda Bing, Badda Boom. I'm gonna throw a Fiona chapter into this story every now and then, figured it would be fun to write. I hope you guys liked it. In the next chapter, Finn goes to the Fire Festival.
