A/N: Don't bother flaming me. I know that all of the Weasleys are pureblood, including Ginny, but what if? Isn't that the point of Fanfiction?

Squib

"Molly! It's a girl!"

"A girl? Really?"

Ginevra Molly Weasley. The very first female Weasley.

The pudgy, crying baby had a full head of red hair, just as Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ron had, but the pudgy, crying baby was a girl.

A girl. Molly had always wanted a girl. Somebody to be able to teach about boys and periods and whatnot. Arthur had obviously been the one to show all the sons about the ways of the world, and now it was finally Molly's turn. After six boys, she had begun to doubt she would ever have a girl, but here was Ginny.

Ginny, like her older brothers, had her very own Babybook from Flourish and Blott's that wrote everything down as it happened. First smile, first word, first step, first sign of magic—except that.

Ginny hadn't shown any signs of magic.

A feverish Molly Weasley rushed her daughter into St. Mungo's.

"Doctor Mangrove, Ginny hasn't shown any signs of magic and she's already fourteen months old!"

"Calm down, Mrs. Weasley. She's probably just a late bloomer. My daughter didn't do anything magical until she was three years old." The kind old doctor said.

But Molly was not satisfied, not one bit. All of her sons had had magical "accidents" by the time they were one year old. Why was Ginny different?

It became apparent that Ginny was not a witch on her 6th birthday. A few weeks later, Ginny was getting her DNA tested for magical abilities. The test came back—

"Negative? You mean she's a—"

"A Squib, yes. But all is not lost. She will probably still be able to perform simple spells. She can still attend Hogwarts. If she tries hard enough, she could be a fair student."

Molly could not believe her ears. Probably be able to do simple spells? The Weasleys were some of the oldest wizarding families around. How was her poor daughter going to cope with the fact that she was a Squib, while her brothers were already doing spells at the age of seven at least?

I hope you liked it. When you think about it, having a Squib born into the family must be like giving birth to a mentally retarded child—it would be devastating, right? Sorry this one was short. As I've said in previous stories, I like to keep the first chapter short and get feedback.
