Sonic DX Adventures
Author's note: Welcome to another Sonic fanfic. I know I still have others to finish, but I just couldn't keep this waiting any much longer. Especially with ideas I want to get to but to do that I needed to do something to make it match first. Plus this story is the prequel series to the Sonic and the Werehog Universe based on the games and the Sonic X anime, with the Archic comics on the list, a bit of the SATAM, and a stash or two of the IDW comics.
So here's the first episode!
I don't own Sonic the Hedgehog. All rights belong to Sega. I only own the OCs.
Episode 1: The Blue Blur Comes to Town!
The world of Mobius, a planet that is home of humans and anthropomorphic animals called Mobians who live in peace and harmony, except for quite a few villains who seek evil goals. One of them is the most dangerous threat of both kinds and even to non-anthropomorphic animals the Mobians call Mobini to avoid confusion.
That threat is an evil human name who goes by the name of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Yet like all stories, where there is evil, there is a hero. That hero is a Mobian blue hedgehog who goes by the name that many would know: Sonic the Hedgehog, the hero of Mobius who was born with super speed and is known as the fastest thing alive. Since the age of eleven on his home island of South Island where he grew up with his parents Jules and Bernadette Hedgehog, having lost his beloved uncle Sir Charles "Uncle Chuck" Hedgehog who vanished five years earlier, Sonic has confronted and defeated Robotnik with his incredible ability and has saved the planet. Since then, Sonic has been on many adventures, meeting friends along the way, some that were fun, some with a misunderstanding.
Miles Prower, a young fox who was born with a mutation of having two tails instead of one, and high intelligence for a young child, despite his young and very kind personality. As a result, he earned the nickname "Tails", but he has been picked on by many, until at the age of four, he first met Sonic who arrived on his home island of Westside Island, and unlike many others, the blue hedgehog saw the natural gift of his abnormal tails and intelligence, seeing the potential and very kind heart. The two became friends and soon brothers ever since.
Amy Rose, a pink hedgehog who's past was quite lonely and a bit of a mystery. She was first met on Little Planet at the age of eight when Sonic discovered that Robotnik was up to no good again. Since that time and rescuing her from both the evil scientist and taking her with him back to Mobius, she instantly fell in love and(to his dismay despite liking her as a friend and sister), now dreams of marrying the blue hedgehog.
Finally, there's Knuckles the Echidna, a guardian of the legendary Master Emerald which controls the power of the just as legendary gems known as the Chaos Emeralds, residing on the giant floating island known as Angel Island since at the early age who is the last of his kind. His meeting with Sonic wasn't a good one as, despite being born with powerful strength and takes his duties seriously, is also gullible and naive which makes him an easy target to be tricked by Robotnik since the age of twelve, which resulted in Knuckles to fight Sonic until the blue hedgehog and Tails made him see the truth. Now despite their rivalry and still being tricked by the evil scientist, the red echidna would aid Sonic whenever the situation called for it.
Now Sonic's journey takes him to a place where new adventures, old and new friends, and both old and new enemies, are about to begin.
On a lovely, sunny day in the fields of Floral Forest Village, a beautiful peaceful place where very kind Mobians lived, a little Mobian Rabbit girl was happily picking flowers near a path that lead to her village. She wore an orange dress with matching shoes and white gloves, about five years old, coming up to six, and was humming to herself. With her was a small light blue creature with a yellow bobble on it's head, big eyes with yellow hands, tiny wings and a red bow in the front called a Chao, a rare species that aren't seen much in the world.
This little girl was named Cream, and she named her Chao friend Cheese, who is her very best friend.
"I think we have enough flowers to make Mama's crown. Don't you think so, Cheese?" Cream sweetly said as she stood up with an arm full of the beautiful and colourful flowers.
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese cooed in agreement with a bright smile.
"You're right. Let's go home and make the flower crown before she comes back. She'll love it." The little five year old said happily, and with that, she and her Chao hurried back to her house to prepare for making her mother, Vanilla's, crown as a special surprise to show how much the little girl loved her.
A few hours later after returning home, Cream was waiting patiently with Cheese in the living room, standing with her hands behind her back in excitement. They then heard the promising sound of the door opening and beamed happily when a crown Mobian rabbit in a long dress, a splitting image of the child, come in with a basket full of groceries. She had just set the supplies onto the table when her daughter greeted her.
"Hello, Mama." Cream said sweetly.
"Hello, dear. Did you have fun today? I hope you didn't get into trouble." Vanilla greeted back kindly.
Her daughter shook her head and said. "Cheese and I were out in the flower fields, and I made you something very special."
Cream then withdrew her hands and revealed a beautifully well hand-crafted crown made out of the flowers she and Cheese collected earlier, as she proclaimed. "Surprise!"
"Oh, Cream. Is this for me?" The elder rabbit asked, gratefully surprised as she bend down to her daughter's height level.
"Mm-hm! It's to show how much I love you. You can wear it whenever you want, Mama." Cream replied sweetly and happily. "Would you like to put it on?"
"Yes, of course." Vanilla nodded happily, and allowed her sweet child to carefully place it on her head and over her ears. She then hugged her daughter who hugged her back. "Thank you, sweetie. It's the most beautiful crown I've ever seen. I love you so much."
"You're welcome, Mama. I love you so much in the whole world!" Cream replied, nuzzling into her mother's chest with Cheese joining in, cheering on.
Vanilla could only hug and smile, very happy to be blessed with such a wonderful daughter she taught well, and that Cream loved her to have made such a beautiful gift.
Unfortunately, the moment of happiness was soon to come to a terrible end as suddenly there was a loud noise coming from outside, alarming the two rabbits and little Chao who looked up and looked at the window nearby. The sound was followed by the ground shaking slightly and the loud tinkering of metal, quickly frightening the trio.
"M-Mama? What is that?" Cream asked, nervously as she clinged onto her mother in fear.
"I don't know." Vanilla replied, holding her child more tightly to try and keep her safe.
Then they heard it. The terrible sound of explosions from outside, the ground shaking even more and causing the young family to scream in fear as did Cheese who flew into both Cream and Vanilla's arms, afraid of what was happening. Outside of their home, robotic machines began terrorizing the once peaceful village with many families including children running away in fear, but the animals, the Mobini, couldn't escape in time as they were all captured by grabbing nets shot out from the robots, they chirped and tweeted in fear, before being dragged right into the machines, trapping the helpless Flickies inside.
Leading these robots along with men with deadly rifles that were modern with human technology, was a tallish man with ginger hair and a thick mustache wearing a dark green and black suit with glasses, who was round and a bit egg-shaped, but with a large toothy grin that made him resemble to Dr. Robotnik, only his front teeth were bigger and he looked just as terrifying. He was known as Julius, a man of absolute terror.
"Bwahahahahaha! Yes, my lovely creations! Bring me as many Flickies as possible, and find the ones who are keeping the special Chao!" Julius commanded, muttering darkly with an evil grin. "I'll overthrow even the biggest threat of Mobius."
Everything was turning into burning ashes and ruin, save for the house of Cream and her mother and Chao who, hearing the commotion outside, feared that they would be next. Then, knowing what she had to do, Vanilla came to a heart-breaking decision. She scooped up her only child and Cheese and hurried to the basement, opening the door and gesturing them inside.
"M-Mama?" Cream asked, worriedly.
"Chao?" Cheese echoed.
"Please, Cream. You both must stay in here and don't make a sound or come out. Understand?" Vanilla whispered, her voice cracking with her eyes full of tears, knowing that as long as her daughter was safe, that was all that mattered.
"But what about you?" The little girl asked.
"I have to make sure you are both safe." Her mother replied, shocking the child as she knew almost instantly what was about to happen.
"No! Please, Mommy! Don't go!" Cream begged, beginning to break down into tears.
"Don't worry, sweetie. I'll be alright." Vanilla nodded tearfully, kissing her daughter on the forehead. "I love you, Cream. Remember, be a good little girl, be brave and be safe."
Cream could only begin to cry as she clutched Cheese into her arms, muttering that she loved her mother too, before the older rabbit closed the door. The young five year old and her Chao could only try to remain silent while whimpering in fear and dispair, just as the noises from outside frightened them. They heard the door and windows smashed open, robots coming in, Vanilla's shocked cries before she grunted and screamed...then after what felt like hours, it all fell silent. Cream and Cheese dared not to make any noises until about half an hour later, it all too quiet.
Nervously, the young rabbit girl stood up and hesitantly opened the door, peering out at the remains of her home. The front has been smashed half open, and Cream and Cheese were left of the sight of almost complete destruction that was once the happy and peaceful place of Floral Forest Village. The villagers were gone, the animals were nowhere in sight, almost everything was burnt to ash and were still on fire.
Cream and Cheese were all alone. The last ones left.
"M-Mom? Mommy?" Cream called out, stepping out of her destroyed home, with Cheese floating out of her arms and looked around at the devastation the place was left in.
Then the little Chao cried out in dismay and flew over to the ground which caught his friend's attention. To her horror, her best friend had found the wrecked remains of the flower crown she made for Vanilla, torn and shattered, the flowers all wrecked and shredded into nothing. Cheese could only look up mournfully at Cream who gasped before tearing up in devastation. She immediately knew the truth almost instantly.
Her mother was gone. With only the flower crown gift she presented to her being the only thing left. Heart-broken and all alone with only Cheese by her side, Cream fell to her knees and cried. Cheese could only hover over and try to comfort his friend despite that he too was heart-broken as his owner's mother was a mother to him as well. The two cried and hugged each other for a good hour until the young child was left with a sniffle.
She could remember the last things her mother said to her. To be a good little girl, be brave and be safe. But Cream felt frightened, she didn't know what to do.
Until she thought of an idea, and despite her mother's wishes, she knew what she had to do. Even though she was scared, Cream knew, there was only one hope left.
"Come on, Cheese." She began, determination filling up her very kind and pure heart and on her face as she stood up, confusing Cheese who stared at her. "We're going to find a way to save Mama. We have to find Mr. Sonic the Hedgehog. He's our only hope in finding her. We have to go to the nearest town. Mr. Sonic might be there."
Despite that this was a startling idea, Cheese saw that Cream was right. Sonic the Hedgehog, the world-famous hero of Mobius, was their only hope in saving Vanilla and finding out what was going on. The Chao nodded and flew into the girl's arms, before they began walking away from home, to begin their long journey.
Unaware that their lives were about to continue to change forever.
Meanwhile, on South Island...
South Island has been in blissful peace since Sonic's first heroic adventure in saving it from Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Especially the Green Hill Zone, the birthplace of Sonic the Hedgehog himself. Speaking of the heroic blue hedgehog, he was back for a visit even though he has his own house while living with his best friend and adoptive little brother Tails. But right now, the now teenage hero, fourteen years old, with his fifteenth birthday in several months to come, was in his childhood home visiting his parents Jules and Bernadette who were happy to see their son.
Though this was the last day of Sonic's visit since he would be leaving again, but he was also itching for another adventure, to a new place where he's never been to before. Which was why he was lying on the couch reading the Mobius World Map while trying to figure out where to go to next, with a bored expression.
"Okay, lesse. Been around South Island a few times, Westside Island is a no-go since the people there are still rude and cruel, can't visit Angel Island since I have no idea where it is right now and I doubt Knucklehead would like me visiting, Little Planet already left, I went to Mobotropolis more times than I can count...and there are still so many other places to go to I have no idea where I wanna go next...!" Sonic grumbled, before he placed the map away and stared up at the ceiling, one arm behind his head.
The teenager groaned, complaining as it has been months since Robuttnik's last attack and things have been quiet lately. "I'm bored."
"Hey, Sonic. What's the problem?" Jules, Sonic's father, greeted as he and his wife, Bernadette, approached. Jules was a blue hedgehog resembling to the younger hedgehog, only his eyes were light blue, he had a brown-gray tuff of hair on his head, and he wore white gloves, a red-brown vest with dark boots. He also had the same personality as his son whom he inherited from and like the older male hedgehog when he was young, the same confident and cocky attitude before Jules had matured over the years since marrying and then Sonic came along.
Bernadette was also blue, but with yellow hair on the front curled up, wearing a purple dress with dark grey gloves with purple shoes. Her eyes, however, were Emerald green which Sonic inherited.
"Dad, it's my last day staying with you guys and I really wanna go somewhere tomorrow. But I can't for the life of me figure out where I wanna go to since I've been to every place I've been to so far." The teenage hedgehog groaned again. "It's driving me crazy! If I don't go somewhere that's new soon, I'm gonna be running around like a lunatic!"
"Now, Sonic. There's no need to go into a stressful meltdown." Bernadette told her son, smiling as she knew that her only child's personality was exactly that as Jules when the older hedgehog was Sonic's age.
Sighing, Sonic knew that his mother was right. He sat up and muttered. "Sorry, Mom. It's just there's so many other places I haven't been to yet, and I have no idea where to start exploring. Plus, it's not like I can just randomly run around in a new place without hearing a bit about first. Not to mention that Ro-butt-nik hasn't made a peep since six months ago. I'm dying to find a new place for some excitement and action."
His parents shared a glance, wondering how they would help the fourteen year old with this problem, until an idea formed in Jules' mind, one that brought back memories of when he was younger. Despite that it also reminded him of his late brother and Sonic's late uncle Sir Charles Hedgehog, or Uncle Chuck, it was one of the best memories he had and it might be a good place for his teenage son to explore.
"Well, if you want to check out a place you haven't heard of, I know just the city that might be to your taste, son." Jules suggested.
"Really? What city?" Sonic asked, looking up at his father in interest.
The older hedgehog smirked. "Station Square, a mostly human capitol that Mobians visit from time to time."
"Station Square? A human populated city?" The cobalt hero asked, turning fully to face his dad in growing excitement. Sure he has encountered a few humans before, but never had the hero of Mobius actually got to see many humans in his life.
"Yeah." Jules nodded. "Not only it's a city with lots of entertainment, similar to Mobotropolis, it also has forests with a lake, a desert, another forest known as the ancient Mystic Ruins, the Emerald Coast Zone, and Mountains with beautiful fields of flowers and canyons surrounding it in far places, which for you, isn't far at all."
Sonic's face lit up with pure excitement. A city with a lake, forests, deserts, beaches and mountains and canyons all in the one region? Now that sounded like a fun place to visit. "COOOL! The more I hear about that place, the more I actually wanna live there for a while. Where is it?"
Seeing how he got his son's undivided attention, Jules smiled as did Bernadette before the older male hedgehog got hold of Sonic's map and marked the exact region, titled the United Federation.
"It's at the North-West from here. The only way to get there is by flight, but I'm sure you can get there in no time." Jules explained.
"Now we're talkin'!" Sonic cheered, standing up excitedly. "Then it's settled! I'm going to Station Square for my next adventure!"
"You really know how to make our son happy, don't you?" Bernadette giggled knowingly to her husband who shrugged.
"What can I say, Bernie? Nothing can keep our son to stand still for long. Plus, it's been years since Charles and I been there." Jules shrugged sheepishly.
That caught Sonic's attention as he asked, which the mention of his late uncle, who up until when the teenager had only been six years old, had been like a second father to him, made him sad on the inside but hearing the stories both his father and uncle's adventures always seemed to cheer him up.
"Dad, you and Uncle Chuck been there?" The fourteen year old asked, shrugging slightly.
Jules nodded, smiling sadly. "Sure have. When we were kids, our parents took us there for vacation and it's a great place. It took them hours to get us to come home since your uncle and I didn't want to leave. We occasionally visited, and, well, your mother and I went there as it was one of the places for our honeymoon."
"It seems like only yesterday." Bernadette replied, blushing over the memory of their honeymoon.
"Wow..." Sonic murmured, and while he felt a little bit on edge as it was a place that his uncle went to, Station Square really was a place he didn't want to pass up. He already made up his mind and he was still going. "Now I really wanna go, especially since you guys and Unc' went there before."
"Just be careful while you're there, alright?" Jules told him.
"Don't worry, Dad. I'll be fine. I promise." The youngest hedgehog promised with a wink. "From the looks of it, I'd better get ready for my trip. It's been fun hanging out with you guys again, but when there's adventure calling, I'll come running."
"Have fun, dear, and please be very careful." Bernadette added, and Sonic smiled at her and Jules before the family of three shared a hug.
With that, Sonic waved a goodbye as he said. "I'll stop by to say goodbye before I leave South Island. See you guys later."
He then sped off out of his parents' house to head back to his own to first inform Tails via phone-call(and reluctantly Amy), then get whatever he needed like money which he can easily find during a few volunteer jobs by helping out, and whatever else before his trip to Station Square.
However, what Sonic didn't realize was that his next adventure was going to be more than he would expect.
Station Square.
The next day, after sharing his goodbyes to his family and friends, Sonic made a plane-trip from South Island to the continent that connected to that of the United Federation. Despite that he would've preferred Tails doing all the flying, the blue hedgehog opted to do so himself and flew his father's plane, the Tornado which was gifted to him after his first adventure, to there before making sure it was secure and safe. He then raced the rest of the way down the road and across the main bridge that was the entrance and exit of the city itself.
Sonic then leaped and jumped from the highest parts of the bridge and being the daredevil that he was, leaped really high before Spin Dashing onto the roof of a really tall building. It was already in the middle of the night and as he stood there, he took in his new surroundings and gaped in awe. It was huge; the buildings were more modern than in Mobotropolis, most were towering skyscrapers. The lights were on and the city was just full of life despite the lateness of the hour.
People were walking around in their usual daily lives of tropical beach resorts, people chatting or doing late-night hour works, cars driving in the roads, train stations here and there, it was a place that was bustling with life itself. And as far as the eye could see, Sonic saw that his father was right; it was indeed a human populated town, with a few odd movements of Mobians, but all in all, it was 98% a human terrority.
"This is so cool!" Sonic said after whistling. It was much better than he had imagined. No wonder Jules and Uncle Chuck never wanted to leave when they were kids. "I'd say it's way better than Mobotropolis. Wonder why Mobiains wouldn't wanna come live here?"
Wanting a closer look despite that he should find a hotel, cheap or not, to spend his first day in the new place, the blue hedgehog raced and hopped down on the walkpath that was the clearest without hitting into people, though a few bystanders that were approaching that area paused to a stop, startled by his sudden entrance. Smirking as he liked to make a scene, the hero of Mobius then raced his way through in a controlled 'normal' pace, excusing himself as he passed by the stunned humans.
"Did you see that?" One human man exclaimed in disbelief, just after Sonic passed him and a human woman.
"It's a blue Mobian hedgehog! I've never seen a blue hedgehog before." The woman said, surprised.
"He looks like he's a kid, too. But where did he come from?" Another man remarked, eyes wide in disbelief.
Sonic didn't mind the comments the people were making even though he did feel a little uncomfortable, but chose to ignore them. He figured that since not many Mobians lived here and it was a tourist attraction, it was still a surprising thing for the humans that did live here. Plus he figured that these people were the similar age to his parents and uncle or even younger that they never noticed them being blue either. But the teenager turned his focus on taking in the sights of the towering 'giant' buildings that seemed to be cramped together but the lights made up for it.
"This place is amazing! There's so much of it!" The fourteen year old exclaimed in awe, running backwards as he sped up to his own normal speed which was still faster than anybody else in the world. He spun around again to see where he was going and skid to a stop when he reached the street lights, waiting for the light to countdown to when it was his and everybody else's turn to cross the road, cars driving by in the late night.
As much as he wanted to get a move on and keep on exploring, the young hero knew that he need to find a place to spend the night and as the place was huge, he didn't want to get lost and he had no idea where the forests were in the dark, otherwise he would've opted to sleep on a tree branch. He was about to ask someone where the cheapest hotel was when Sonic heard police sirens fill the air and helicopter propellers from the sky. Confused, Sonic gaped in surprise as police cars drove past him and the other pedestrians who all wondered what was going on, with a couple of helicopters flying overhead.
Then there was a loud boom from a small distance somewhere in the city which was rocked by the vibration of an explosion.
"Whoa!" Sonic yelped as he and the people tried to keep their balance. "What the!?"
Plumes of smoke could be seen rising in the sky, and while the humans demanded what was going on, fear reaching into their hearts and the hearts of the few other Mobians who were also visiting or on business for work, the blue hedgehog felt and instantly that there was trouble. He couldn't help but smirk as excitement filled his veins.
"Looks like trouble, and where there's trouble, that's my cue to investigate!" The hero of Mobius said to himself, knowing that he had to find out and see if he could help with whatever was going on. He had a hunch he knew, which annoyed him, but if Robotnik was at it again, and a coincidence that the evil scientist would be here, for what, Sonic didn't know, then the teenager would be kicking his butt once again.
Nodding to himself, Sonic changed his course and sped off to his left to follow the police and the helicopters, leaving a trail of blue blur behind which those who hadn't heard of him were stunned at how fast he was. He ran up a building and followed to get a better view and idea before reaching the center point near a Casino or in front of it. The cobalt Mobian skid to a stop and stood on top of a mail box for a better view as the police cars surrounded the place.
To his shock, the humans had surrounded heavily armored men and a bunch of robots that did resemble to Robotnik's designs, but looked much different. And they had a hostage; a human girl around eight years old who was held by one of the armored men who had his arm around her waist. Sonic felt sick to his stomach as the police had their guns aimed, but the strange army had more and from the looks of it, the authorities didn't look like they had a chance.
"Whuh-oh...That's not good." Sonic whispered to himself.
"You have yourselves surrounded! Put the girl down, lower your weapons and put your hands up!" One of the officers commanded.
"Hah! You think those puny little trinklets can beat our supreme weapons? This brat is coming with us, and then we'll be finding her little flying pet to find the rest our leader wants." One of the mysterious bad men scoffed, as the girl squirmed to get out and began to cry. "Any false moves, and this kid's history. Not that she'll be living once we're through."
That instantly horrified and disgusted the police, but it impacted Sonic the most as he heard everything that was going on. Whoever these people were, he couldn't imagine Robotnik to go that far down into being that murderous, but then again with Ivo, it was hard to tell. Still, to threaten, kidnap and then later kill an innocent child was just too low.
"Now, if you will excuse me." The armored man chuckled, slowly backing away with the frightened child as he made his way towards one of the robots. "My men and I will be taking this kid back home, and pretty soon Station Square is nothing but rubble."
"Stop!" The Officer shouted, but he was ignored.
"Men, take these chumps out!" The armored man ordered, with the army and robots ready to fire back.
Instantly knowing what he had to do, Sonic narrowed his eyes with determination and immediately jumped off the mailbox and used his speed to dash towards the bad guys, and the next thing the humans knew, the girl was gone and no longer in the man's arm which stung a little and felt lighter. Blinking in surprise as he also wondered where the blue blur had come from, the Armored man looked down and gaped in shock that his jaw dropped to the ground figuretively to see that his hostage was missing.
"WHA!? Where'd she go!?" The man exclaimed, bewildered.
"I don't know what's going on, pal." Sonic's voice began from the enemy's left and the police officers' right and saw the blue hedgehog stand on top of a lamp post with the stunned and now safe girl cradled in his arms. "But threatening and kidnapping kids is way too low."
"Huh!? A blue hedgehog!? Who the heck are you, Mobian!?" The armored man demanded.
The blue hedgehog smirked, "Name's Sonic; Sonic the Hedgehog. Maybe you heard of me."
The bad guy's eyes narrowed behind his helmet, gritting his teeth as he grunted. "I know you. You're that annoying blue brat who's the so-called hero of Mobius, who defeated Dr. Ivo Robotnik, the stupid scientist."
"Huh. Funny, I thought you guys and those Badniks were with Ro-butt-nik, but I guess you're with a new bad guy causing nothing but trouble." Sonic remarked, admittedly surprised. Though when he mispronounced Robotnik's name on purpose, the little girl, who was stunned in awe for being saved by the blue hedgehog, couldn't help but giggle at the nickname.
"Nevermind. Give back that girl, you rat or he'll regret it!" The armored man demanded.
"You'll have to catch me first!" Sonic challenged, immediately leaping off the lamp post and raced away to the crowd of people not too far off but also far away from unnecessary danger, stopping in front of the stunned people which one of them being a woman who shed tears of relief when she saw the girl in the teenager's arms.
"Sophie!" The woman cried in relief.
"Mommy!" The girl, Sophie cried happily, as Sonic gently placed her into her mother's arms and the two hugged each other tightly in relief.
"Here you go." Sonic said, before asking. "You alright, kid?"
"Mm-hm! Thank you for saving me!" Sophie said, sniffling but happy to be back with her mother.
"Oh, thank you so much for saving my baby. You are so brave." The mother tearfully said gratefully.
The blue hedgehog just smiled with a thumbs up and wink, replying. "It's what I do."
After telling the people to get to safety as this situation was dangerous, Sonic immediately raced back while the police, now with the girl out of harms way, opened fire which made the blue hedgehog wince, but the armor on the men and robots only had dents on them. The man in charge of the enemies just grinned and was about to order them to fire back to kill the authorities, when the hero of Mobius sped in and around, and the next thing the evil men knew, their rifles were gone and to the police forces' shock, they were now holding them as Sonic had grabbed the weapons and passed them onto the good guys.
"Huh!? What in-!?" Another police officer exclaimed.
"Just thought you guys would be locking them away later!" Sonic stated as he stood on the roof of one of the police cars, stunning them and the armored men once more. He turned back to the men who growled in anger, with the robots about to fire at will, before kindly saying to the stunned and slightly fearful police. "Excuse me."
The blue hedgehog then used his speed to Spin Dash into the men, sending them flying backwards and crashing on top of one another like bowling pins, before the police retreated for safety just in case the robots opened fire. The fourteen year old wasted no time in dodging the firelines of the robots who tried to catch him with their nets, but failed before an idea formed in his mind.
"Hey, Bot-heads! Catch me if you want!" Sonic taunted, and chuckled as the nets were fired. But he leaped out of the way at the last second and the nets caught the evil men, trapping them on the ground.
"No! Not us! Get that hedgehog!" The leader of the group shouted as he and his men struggled to free themselves, but were stuck.
"Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah!" The blue hedgehog stuck his tongue out while wiggling his fingers in front of his ears at the robots that tried to either shoot or catch him, but both attempts failed as the teenager was too fast for them.
Sonic then sped forward, easily dodging the attacks and used a new skill he practiced with for months; jumping and spinning, forming what he called a Homing Attack, hitting each robot with ease, hitting and smashing them, now destroying each one until there were none left, which were about only five in total, but were large and tough. Though since he had the experience of smashing robots in the last three years, Sonic took them out with ease. He landed on the ground with style once the robots were defeated and stood straight with a smirk, rubbing his nose.
The people who witnessed his heroic rescue and battle then all began to cheer and applaud to the young teenage Mobian, even the Police were stunned by Sonic's bravery even though some of them felt rather left out, but amazed none the less.
"I think we have our jobs cut for us." One of the police officers commented.
"The way how he handled it makes us look like a bunch of slackers." Another one slumped a little.
"I'm jealous." A third officer muttered, as the rest of the police, seeing the evil men trapped by their own methods done by the blue hedgehog tricking their robots, hurried over to make sure the men do not escape.
As Sonic watched the men be taken away by the police, the leader of the police force approached him, saying. "While it was a reckless move to jump in like that without authority, the way how you fought these men after saving an innocent child's life, and destroying these robots without too much damage, I'll give you a clear and a thank you for helping us."
"Don't worry about it. I help out people all the time. Perks of being a hero." Sonic responded, smirking.
"So the rumors are true." The Officer said, stunned. "You really are Sonic the Hedgehog like they say. What brings you here to Station Square?"
"Vacation, exploring, going on another adventure, and running for fun." The blue hedgehog listed. "But I never turn down on anybody needing to be saved, and what those creeps tried to do to that girl was just wrong in so many ways. Which reminds me, do you know anything about them and who they are?"
"I'm afraid not. But we'll be investigating on that. For now, I think you should leave the rest to us. While we appreciate your help, young man, this is very serious. You should find a hotel to spend the night. There's one across the road a few miles within the city." The Officer replied.
While Sonic wanted to know more about what was going on, he didn't want to land himself into trouble himself and, being in a city full of humans, he felt it was probably best to not get too much involved unless he had to in his own way. Thanking the officer for the directions, and being thanked again, the blue hedgehog left in high-speed, but no one noticed that a stray evil soldier was watching from around the corner, or rather, it was a robot who had recorded most of what has happened.
Though as soon as Sonic left, the main Officer dialed in to report what has happened. "Chief, we have the situation under control, but it has been dealt with by an unexpected young teenage Mobian."
"A blue hedgehog did what?" A man in a racer-like suit, red with an impressive car asked, stunned. He listened in onto the situation before smirking. "Got it. We'll see what it takes to round up our little friend and have him join us."
Hanging up on his mobile phone, the man turned to other men in the group, calling out. "Speed Team! Get ready to roll!"
Once the Speed Team, lead by the man named Sam Speed, got his fancy car away, he and his crew hopped into their respective vehicles and went out fast on the high-way with the sirens blaring, with a new mission to find Sonic the Hedgehog for a little questioning.
Despite that he tried to find the hotel, Sonic was annoyed that it was so late that it closed for the night and he had to make a booking early. So he opted to find a forest to spend the night, but found himself lost and eventually made his way to the high-way. The teenager sat on top of a lamp post and gazed up at the sky, with the stars and full moon out. He had fun so far, but something was bugging him.
"Station Square's a really cool place. And I've never seen so many humans in one city before." Sonic thought to himself, before thinking back of those mysterious men who had tried to capture an innocent little girl. He frowned in concern. "But those guys with the robots...I guess Buttnik isn't behind whatever's going on. Who are they following though? What would they want with kids? Little flying pet? What does it mean?"
Could they mean Flickies? No, that didn't sound right. It wasn't any kind of birds, and the blue hedgehog ruled out Tails since he was a fox that can fly. But he wasn't that little. Whatever it was, Sonic had a feeling that trouble was close by and it was right here in the heart of the human populated city.
"Well, guess it's a good thing I came here after all. Looks like I'll be hanging around for a while." Sonic decided, smiling as he stood up. "For now, this hedgehog needs some sleep."
But as he hopped down from the lamp post, the sounds of the police sirens approached and, when he looked, five squad cars pulled up. The blue hedgehog looked confused as they seemed to be looking for him.
"Uh-oh. Did I do something wrong?" Sonic muttered to himself. He thought he'd done a good deed tonight. But did the police think that his heroics made him suspicious to the point that they wanted to take him in for questioning? Maybe he should head back to his plane and sleep there instead.
From the leading car, Sam Speed stepped out, putting the teenager on edge as he stood trying not to be defensive but not lowering his guard either. "Hi there. You're a hard one to keep up with."
"Uh...Hiya?" The blue hedgehog waved back, a bit confused. "To make this short, am I in trouble?"
"Well, apart from that you should be sleeping right now, not really." Sam replied, taking off his helmet to reveal his short ginger hair and blue eyes. "We don't get fast company often, let alone heroes who dealt with a bunch of creeps in one day. In fact, I'm glad you showed up."
"You are?" Sonic asked, blinking.
"Well, yeah! This place is way too peaceful. Over the last 12 months apart from what happened this evening, I've only made one arrest. Some joker got it into his head that he was a hot-shot driver. Had his own Formula-One car and everything. I guess he thought he'd give me a run for my money. But it was all over in a minute. It took me longer than that to suit up!" The racer-like policeman said.
That made Sonic interested as he smirked, placing his hands on his hips. "Really? So you're a police officer and a racer, huh? The guy must be desperate if he wants to be a racer like you."
"Kid, you have no idea. He never had a chance. Of course it's our own fault, this town's dull mainly because of us. You see, we're the high-speed pursuit unit, the S-Team. And I'm the leader of the team. They call me the 'Highway Star.' Real name's Sam Speed." Sam continued, jerking a thumb at myself.
"S-Team? Sam Speed?" Sonic replied, before snickering. "Dude, if you wanna see real speed, I'm the fastest thing alive! The name's Sonic, hero of Mobius."
Sam smirked, "I thought you looked and sounded familiar. So you took out those punks that tried to kidnap a girl all on your own, huh? I wish I was there to see it in action and arrest those guys."
The blue hedgehog shrugged. "Sorry."
"Well, at least they're already handled. But even so, if you think you're the fastest thing alive," Sam said, before narrowing his eyes with a frown which startled the fourteen year old Mobian. "Think again!"
The blue hedgehog gasped in surprise, mentally gulping as he felt that now was a time to get going. 'Okay, now I'm a little scared.'
"Wait! I didn't do anything wrong, I swear!" Sonic protested, holding his hands up in defense.
Realizing that he may be scaring the teenage Mobian a little, the human man softened his expression. "Sorry, got a little carried away. Tell you what, if you can beat me in a race, I'll let you go. But when I win, you're coming with me to join up."
Despite the little scare, Sonic realized the meaning of it and relaxed a little. So he smirked again as he heard the 'when' when Sam said about his victory. "You mean if you win? Well, I was gonna find a decent place to sleep tonight since the hotels are closed, but I wouldn't mind a small race."
"We'll see about that." Sam smirked.
After the man hopped back into his car, Sonic stepped aside and stood in position. While the rest of the S-Team Squad waited, the blue hedgehog and the Team leader were ready after the teenager did a couple of stretches. When Sam Speed reered his super car, Sonic took off at the same time as he did, except that the young hero was faster, and the other four cars giving chase.
'Run fast, hedgehog. I wanna be the one to catch you!' Sam thought to himself.
'Man, these guys mean business.' Sonic thought as he saw that the race was actually a trap while he ran down the highway, though he had no idea what he was in trouble for. Maybe it's because they saw how fast he was, or how he smashed the robots. Either way, he smirked while he joked. "Ha! The S-Team, huh? The S must stand for slow motion."
He didn't want to get into any further trouble than he already found himself in, so the blue hedgehog sped up to avoid in the cars catching up to him. One of them out of the other four, a guy named Hector, was attempting to catch up to the hero of Mobius.
"Hey, you! You're landing yourself in even more trouble! This is dangerous!" One of the S-Team members shouted. "What happens if kids start trying this?"
Sonic blinked, before breaking the fourth-wall and wisely told the viewers/readers. "Kids, don't use Fomula-One race cars to chase hedgehogs!"
He took off quickly in faster speed, and despite that he was in trouble, the blue hedgehog was really enjoying himself.
Hector growled before shouting. "You're not gonna treat the S-Team like chump! We'll teach you a lesson! Boost all wings 3.5 degrees and let's get him!"
"Roger!" Another one of the men cried out in response, as the team pushed a few buttons on their vehicles, to which Hector's car expanded wings which made him faster. Sonic looked over his shoulder and spun around, running backwards once more.
"Huh!? This full throttle and that kid's playing with us!" Hector cried out.
Sam was picking up with speed as he had been ahead, but when he saw that Sonic was determined to win the race, the man was now angry that the blue hedgehog may be right. "Playtime is now officially over! Attention all units, open the center line!"
Hector and the other squad did as they were told, moving out of the way for Sam to move through, muttering to himself. "I didn't think I'd have to do this, but I have no choice. I will not have anybody, faster than me, on my highway!"
Activating the Super Nitro, Sam sped past his unit and straight towards Sonic, who gasped in shock, seeing how the car was moving at 400 miles per hour and catching up fast. The blue hedgehog narrowed his eyes as he turned around to run forward again and moved out of the way. He then knew what he had to do.
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha! The only way he can beat me is if he can go super sonic!" Sam laughed in victory.
"Sorry, Sam but Super Sonic is my special ability!"
"Huh-what!?" The racer gaped, his eyes widening behind his helmet as he saw Sonic right next to him with a smirk, going into his boost mode.
"It's been a fun race, but this hedgehog's gonna now find a place to sleep. Later!" Sonic gave the man a two finger salute before speeding off.
Sam was unable to believe his eyes. No wonder the blue hedgehog was called Sonic. He was moving in a sonic boom! At his team's warning, he pulled to a stop just as the teenager went up ahead as they were coming up to the end of the road. When the hero of Mobius saw this as well, he picked up his speed and then jumped, letting the winds make him fly a little as he past the edge. The squad leader could only emerge from the car and stare out in shock and awe, before smirking a little.
"Well, as a man of my word, you're off the hook for now, Sonic the Hedgehog." Sam muttered to himself.
The teenager may have won this time, but the S-Team leader was determined to race him again sometime soon. Very soon.
As he flew over from the road, Sonic found that he was flying over the city which looked more spectacular with all the lights on. It was beautiful. He loved it here despite the people being strange to him.
"Whoa. It's huge." Sonic whispered, smiling.
But as he prepared to make a safe landing on the ground, to his horror as he was reaching it, he face another problem, and in his case, deadly. Because the first thing he saw and where he was about to land was just in the backyard of a large mansion...with a swimming pool.
"A-A- Pool!? Uh oh..." Sonic chuckled in fright, before running to run in the opposite direction but was unable to stop himself. He then turned to the viewers/readers once more and waved. "See ya...!"
Screaming, he landed in the middle with a big splash. He attempted to reach the surface but quickly sank to the bottom. Holding his breath and terrified as he didn't want to drown, Sonic looked for a way out before he ended up dead. The blue hedgehog then noticed a ladder and made to run towards it, but because water was his weakness, it stopped him from going fast, and even moving because he just ended up floating a bit before sinking, but he kept on trying.
Little did he know, the huge splash awoke a young human twelve year old boy who sat up, startled. Wondering what was going on, the child, with ginger hair and blue pajamas, sprung out of bed and headed to his balcony, where he saw that something or someone crashed into his family's pool. Seeing that whoever it was wasn't resurfacing, he grew worried and despite the rules of not swimming during the night, the boy raced out of his room and downstairs to go and rescue whoever it was that couldn't swim.
Back at the bottom of the pool, Sonic continued to try and get to the ladder, but in the end he hadn't moved from the spot and finally just gave up. He sat there with his arms crossed with an annoyed look, yet deep down he was terrified, and very upset. Not even one day in the human city, and already he was about to die. The knowledge of never being able to see his family and friends again, that he wouldn't be able to see the world, or stop Robotnik or any other evil villains broke his heart. He wished he'd been more careful, but he landed himself into trouble and put himself into a self-death sentence.
Just as Sonic thought this was the end of him, he heard another splash and looked up, surprised to see a human boy swim towards him. The boy reached out and grabbed him by the wrist, and, too shocked to do anything but look, the blue hedgehog simply allowed his unexpected rescuer to pull him to the surface. They both made it back up and the boy carried the teenager who gasped for air the moment their heads were above the water, to the edge and pulled both of them out and onto the edge of the pool.
Sonic coughed to get water out of his lungs and air back in, on his hands and knees, while the boy gently rubbed his back as he sat next to him.
"That was close." Said the boy in concern, as he waited for Sonic to get the hold of breathing again. "Are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah." The blue hedgehog replied with his eyes closed, breathing in and out once the coughing fit stopped. He was utterly relieved to still be alive, before the teenager opened his eyes and gazed at his savior, smiling a little. "Thanks a lot."
The boy looked at him in surprise. "You're a blue Mobian hedgehog. I didn't know there were any."
"There's a few others in my family. We don't just come in brown colour, you know." Sonic replied, his smile never faltering.
"Wow, that's awesome." The boy stated in awe, before introducing himself. "My name's Christopher. A lot of people call me Chris. What's your name?"
"My name is Sonic the Hedgehog." The fourteen year old answered.
Chris' eyes widened in further awe, unable to believe what he was hearing. "You're...You're Sonic? The famous hero of Mobius?"
Sonic chuckled, giving the boy a thumbs up and a wink. "The one and only!"
"Whoa! I've heard a lot about you! I never thought I'd get a chance to actually meet you in person." The twelve year old exclaimed in excitement.
The blue hedgehog chuckled, liking how he always managed to excite people. "Well, I guess this is your lucky day."
Before either one could say anything further, Sonic felt his nose tickle before he quickly moved his head to his right and sneezed before rubbing his nose.
"We'd better get you all dried off before you catch a cold. Do you have a place to stay for the night?" Chris suggested, helping Sonic to stand up.
"Well, I was gonna go into a hotel, but they're all closed for the night. My other two options were either a forest or head back to my plane." Sonic sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck with a shrug.
Seeing the dilemma despite how Sonic got here via a plane, Chris had a thought before an idea formed and offered. "If you like, you can stay here for the night. I'm sure my grandpa, Ella and Mr. Tanaka won't mind having a guest."
"Really?" Sonic replied in surprise, and when Chris confirmed it, the blue hedgehog smiled at such kind generousity. "Wow. Thanks, Chris."
Fifteen minutes later after the two newly bonded friends headed into the bathroom to find a towl for Sonic to dry himself off, they headed into Chris' bedroom where the teenager decided to sleep on the balcony's railing, much to the boy's surprise.
"Don't you want a blanket and a pillow, Sonic?" Chris asked, curiously.
"Nah, I'm fine. I'm used to sleeping like this." The blue hedgehog replied, his hands behind his head and one leg over the other.
"Well, okay. Goodnight, Sonic." The twelve year old boy replied.
"Night, Chris." Sonic replied, and watched as his new friend retreated back into his room to go back to bed, leaving him to gaze up at the sky as he had unexpectedly and luckily found a place to stay for the night. Who knows, maybe a bit longer.
'Man, what a day. This has turned out to be quite an adventure. I fight off new bad guys, rescued a kid, had a race through a misunderstanding, and I've been saved by a really nice kid, and made a new friend out of him. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.' Sonic thought to himself, relieved that things have turned out okay despite a few mishaps.
As he wondered what tomorrow would bring in his first day in Station Square, Sonic soon drifted off to sleep, finally relaxing and he couldn't wait for what new adventures would await him.
But what he and Chris didn't know was that tomorrow was the beginning of the new dangers that lied just ahead.
