Summary: Roger/Mimi, Roger's thoughts in Santa Fe. How many times can I use the word eye? How many sentence fragments can I get away with?

Her eyes find me in the car. I'm on my way out of New York. I'm leaving her behind. Leaving my friends behind. And trying to leave myself behind.

Her eyes find me when I reach New Mexico. Eyes filled with laughter like the night at the Life Café after the riot. Our first date. The night I realized I still had a life worth living.

Her eyes find me in Santa Fe. This time her eyes are bright with tears. The same way they looked at Angel's funeral. Eyes that make me want to comfort and consol.

Her eyes find me at the motel. Full of pain, like when we fought. When I walked away from her again. She haunts me. Her eyes refuse to leave me alone.

Her eyes find me when I sell the car. Eyes that see right through me. Eyes I saw when I left the final time. Eyes that knew I was running scared.

Her eyes find me in a little diner. Eyes full of mischief, asking me to light her candle, even as she blew it out again. Eyes I hope to forget. Eyes I pray to remember.

Her eyes find me when I buy a new guitar. Eyes filled with passion. A passion that touches and burns my soul. A passion I thought gone, never to return.

Her eyes find me on the street. Eyes filled with friendship. The way she looked at Angel, Collins, Maureen, Joanne, and Mark. Eyes that smiled and loved and understood. Eyes that make me miss my friends more than ever.

Her eyes find me as I sing for money. Eyes full of awe. She often looked at me like that when I sang. She loved my voice. Always wanting me to sing to her. I used to sing her to sleep as we lay in bed. Eyes I miss.

Her eyes find me at the bus stop. Eyes full of need. Eyes that tell me she needs me, needs my love. Eyes that I have begun to write about. Eyes that have become my inspiration.

Her eyes find me on the bus back home. This time full of life. Eyes that made it okay for me to laugh again. Eyes that found the joy in everything. Eyes that embodied the 'No day, but today' ideology.

Her eyes find me at night. Eyes full of love. Eyes that continue to haunt even though she has vanished. Eyes I long to see again.

Her eyes find me as I sing my song. My song about her beautiful eyes. They focus on me, this time full of everything, yet dull and tired. Eyes that mean everything. Eyes that brought me back. Eyes that gave me life. Eyes that gave me love.

The End.
