A/N: I went back and forth back and forth wondering if I should make this a short story, a ficlet or a one shot. I decided to keep it as a one shot. I apologize if it's too long to be a one shot. I just didn't think I would have the patience to divide the chapters and even know how to upload. So, here is a one shot and it does coincide with a story I have in the works once A Secret Service is completed. Thank you all for your reading, reviews, and support. Hope you enjoy.
"It's over Russ! It's been over for a month now. It's time you move on because I have already."
Olivia's three-year toxic relationship with Russell was over. She cried about it for a few days. She drowned her sorrows in pizza and binge watched crime shows for two straight days. Abby and Quinn stopped by a few times to get her out of her apartment, but she was fine using her own self-pity. It didn't last long.
She didn't love Russell, never did, never will. It was fun for a bit. The sex was good, not great, but Russell did nothing for her heart. She wanted life changing, extraordinary love and it wasn't going to happen with him. They broke it off when she turned down his engagement proposal. He only did it because he felt he was losing her. He thought the ring would impress her, the proposal would melt her, but it didn't. It only made her realize more how she needed a change in direction of her life.
She was on the phone with him now for the 3rd and final time today. "Russ, I'm changing my phone number today. I'm moving in a few days to a different state and I am going forward with my life, without you. It's time you do the same. Good-bye Russell."
Just for one night, she wanted out. She wanted to feel nothing. She wanted to be someone else and just have a good time. She didn't want to be Olivia Pope for just 24 hours. She looked down at the device in her hands. This is where it starts, she thought.
Her phone she spoke to Russell on just two minutes ago darkened and buzzed off, never to be turned on again. She tossed the useless device into her bag. The number would be disconnected by morning. Maybe she would keep the phone as a reminder of her past.
She picked up her new phone from the lone box left in her place. The bright screen illuminated the darkened room. Within ten seconds, the buzzing started. Only a handful of contacts had made the transfer onto the new device. Those were the only contacts that had this new number also. Even Olivia didn't have the number memorized. It was hard to get the old number out of memory. She would learn it when she reached her new destination. Right now, the old number was branded in her brain's memory, and it's her memory of her old life she wants to forget for a while.
She looked down at her new phone. There were six texts from Abby, four from Quinn, and a missed call from her new cell provider. She needed to call the girls. She knew they were either on their way or would be there any second.
Before she made the call, Olivia looked around her now empty apartment. She took a deep breath in and thought of the memories she made there. This was it. These were her final days, her final hours, in her Florida apartment she had called home for six years. Her BA finished, her master's finished, graduation done, and Abby and Quinn ready to move with her. They were leaving Florida to DC. Huck, her good friend from childhood was in DC.
Huck had purchased office space. He called her and said, just come live here, we will figure it out when you get here. The office is gigantic. I just bought it, and now we need to do something with it. Abby and Quinn were on board, and it was a way to leave this life behind. Her new life was waiting, but for this final weekend in Florida, the girls were going to party.
They had Friday night, Saturday night, and all-day Sunday. They would return here and leave on Monday. The U-Haul was all packed with everything from her apartment and the apartment Abby shared with Quinn. They all would be starting over. She was entitled to have her harmless fantasy, even if it was only for two nights.
The rapid knocks on the door startled her out of her daydream. She didn't know why the two knocked on the door. They were being stupid as usual. After the knocks, and before she could even proceed to the door, it swung open and there stood the two nut cases Abby and Quinn.
Abby, with her gorgeous red hair, would stand out in any crowd. She was funny, sarcastic, and loyal. All three ingredients for a best friend Olivia wanted. Quinn, a brunette with the perfect body and tough as nails, she was a challenge for Olivia, but all three loved each other dearly. There wasn't anything one wouldn't do for the other. Their loyalty never questioned. They would gladly go "over a cliff" for each other, as Abby once said. "HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY CAROLYNNNNNNN!", they chimed in unison.
Olivia laughed while closing the door. "HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY AMANDAAAAA AND LINDSEYYYYY!" They were all going to be different people this weekend. They weren't going to be Olivia, Abby, and Quinn. Quinn walked rapidly over to Olivia and in the same breath as her movement, "get her Abby" and they both scooped Olivia up. They each had an arm under each of her knees.
"WTF are you doing?" Olivia laughed. "I need to grab that box and my purse." Abby scooped up the purse and told her the box will still be there on Monday.
"We're kidnapping you Olivia, before you change your mind about this weekend. Your overnight bag is already in the car. There's nothing you need" Abby knew her friend a bit too well and she didn't want anything to change Olivia's mind. Abby had her heart, and her sex drive in getting to her destination. I want to be in bed tonight with a hot Navy officer and you aren't going to ruin that. "
"Right!" Quinn agreed. Let's go get drunk find some piping hot Navy guys we can torture." The three of them left the apartment, never putting Olivia down until they were in the elevator.
They chartered a car service for the 2-hour drive to Pensacola. There was a Naval Base there for future Navy pilots. There was also a popular bar for Naval officers and for civilians. Olivia wasn't keen on going there, but Abby had a thing for men in uniform, especially military uniform. This place was out of the way far enough, and she was hoping for a no commitment one or two nightstand with the hottest Navy guy she could find.
Quinn and Olivia spent many years with Abby always doing for them, it was the least they could do for her. So, now they were off in a car service with a full bar and fake names. The two-hour drive would be spent drinking before they got to the actual bar. Olivia chose tequila, and off they went.
Rear Admiral Fitzgerald Grant was less than a year shy of becoming a three star General in the Navy. He just entered his cabin in Pensacola, located just off the Aviation Base. He began to unpack his small supply of clothes he brought for the brief trip. He had his casuals, his uniforms, and his fatigues. He brought two pairs of boxers and two Navy t shirts to wear to bed. He looked around the small cabin and just chuckled. It wasn't too long ago he was a student here, now he's here for a two-day lecture and to give training to the up-and-coming gifted pilots in the program.
Fitz moved quickly up the ranks in the Navy. He was as gifted a pilot as they came. The Navy called on him to do this training this weekend and it was the last place on Earth he wanted to be. This was a step closer to earning his General stars and that was the only reason he was there.
Known for his arrogance, Fitz couldn't think of a more boring way to waste his skills. Besides the General stars, his father's long-time friend from the Navy called and asked him for this favor. Not wanting to have to hear from his father, he accepted.
Three days, two nights. He can do this. Nothing some Scotch at the bar couldn't fix. Of course, he would never do this drunk, but he wanted to drink enough where he could forget where he was for two nights. He could use a good, peaceful, drunken state sleep.
He should really call it all a blessing anyway. He had told all three women from the town outside his Corpus Christie base to be at the same bar tonight. He knew he wasn't going to be there, but he was tired of the three of them calling him. Trisha, Lillian, and some blonde. He couldn't remember her name right now and he didn't care. They would eventually see themselves all waiting, and they would figure it out. It would make the three of them angry enough so he wouldn't hear from them again. At least, that is what he was hoping.
He laughed a bit thinking about what their expressions would look like, as he placed one of his Navy t shirts on the bed and the other in the top drawer. He's sure they will all gang up on him, have a few drinks, and bad mouth him all night. He did leave the bartender there an OK for the huge tab and told him to let the ladies have what they wanted since they couldn't have him.
Fitz didn't like doing that, really. He couldn't help the looks he was born with. He got tired of requests for dates, dinner, and settling down. His father wanted him to settle down more than anyone. He even went as far as sending Melody Sinclair to the base. That didn't go over too well. He and his father hadn't spoken for over two months now because of that. No matter what, Fitz was not going to be a puppet in his father's political games. His service and loyalty were to the Navy. That is what he is focused on.
He didn't want to just settle with any woman. Did he long for love? Of course, he did. He was lonely, yet so popular. At the end of the day, though, he had to come to terms with himself. There hasn't been a woman he has been with longer than three months. No woman completed him the way needed to be completed. He wanted to belong to someone, to exist for her. That's a fantasy he didn't believe would ever happen. Truth was, he was broken inside, seeing his father use women and toss them aside. The last thing he wanted was to please his father and marry a woman that was chosen for him.
Fitz was successful. He didn't use women. He truly tried dating, but there was always an emptiness in his heart. Rather than drag out a relationship, he broke it off, and moved on. This is why he was so alone, and he was keeping it that way.
He walked to the bathroom. He turned on the shower, grabbed his shaving supplies, and could taste the scotch he would be ordering at the bar in less than an hour. He was looking forward to the night ahead where he would get some peaceful sleep.
Just up the road at the civilian bar Fitz would be walking into shortly, three gorgeous women opened the door. As the loud ding of the bell seemed to echo through the dining area, all heads turned. The girls looked a bit nervously at each other. Right now, it seemed they were outnumbered. There were about five other women in the place, and they were all in a uniform or fatigues. Some of the Navy men, in casuals, in fatigues, and in uniform liked what they saw when the three walked in.
The girls made their way through the dining area and found a place at the bar. It didn't take long for the bartender to ask what they were drinking and there were enough offers from the gentlemen in the place to buy them a drink. They had enough on tab to drink until the bar closed at 3 a.m. They looked at each other, smiled, as they were already quite buzzed, and ordered away. Quinn was the first to get up and start making her way around the room, finding a group of fatigues to laugh and talk with.
Abby asked Olivia how she was feeling. Olivia certainly wasn't feeling any pain, but she was also cautious. She didn't want to get too drunk where she would forget her evening. Before she finished speaking, a mid-sized, slightly muscular pilot walked over to Abby and sat opposite side of her. They started chatting and suddenly Olivia felt alone.
She was looking around the room. Each time she caught the eye of a guy, he grinned and held his drink up. They would gesture for her to come to them, but she had no intentions of moving. The two guys that did approach her were nicely told she wasn't interested, and they graciously left. She guessed the word would spread that she wasn't as eager as her two friends.
So, for what seemed like an hour, the bell kept dinging and the crowd kept getting bigger. Abby was dancing with the guy she started talking to an hour ago and Quinn was playing pool with her bunch. Amanda and Lindsey, Amanda and Lindsey and you're Carolyn. She was whispering this to herself. She had to remember they were playing pretend this weekend. "Carolyn Perkins, Carolyn Perkins, she whispered over and over."
"Well, then." Olivia's head turned and there was a tall, muscular, blue eyed dream standing next to her.
"Hi….Carolyn" this gorgeous specimen said to her.
"Hi" she said, just staring at his chest and his biceps . She looked up and said "wait, what did you call me?"
"I said hi Carolyn. I asked your name and you repeated three times that it was Carolyn Perkins."
The bartender brought over a tequila and placed it in front of Olivia. "I didn't order a tequila", she said pushing the drink back towards the bartender.
"Gentleman", and he nodded up at the blue-eyed dream, "asked what you were drinking. This was the last drink you ordered, so I brought you over another. It's yours, do what you want with it."
"Come on, Carolyn, have a drink with me." He held up his scotch glass for a toast. Olivia picked up the glass, toasted to him, sucked up the salt, sucked the lemon and downed her tequila.
"I'm Admiral Thomas." Fitz said as he watched in shock how quickly, yet eloquently she downed that drink. He signaled to the bartender for another. In wanting to keep up, he downed his scotch, and raised his glass to the bartender also.
He didn't use his real name. He was known as a playboy and he didn't want this woman to think he was interested in anyone but her. He'll tell her in due time.
He sat down and waited for the beautiful woman to say something more to him. He couldn't help but stare at her, but he didn't want to scare her away either. Her skin was something out of a magazine. It looked as smooth as glistening ice that hasn't been touched. Her eyes were paralyzing brown pearls. He looked at her neck and he imagined his lips on there as she ran his fingers though his hair. He couldn't control this feeling of anticipation he had inside. This was new to him. It was probably just the alcohol he told himself.
Olivia turned to him. "Hello Admiral. Why aren't you in uniform?" She looked at him up and down. He was in a Navy t shirt that had his chest stand out. It was gray with thick black letters across the chest that simply read NAVY. He was in faded blue jeans, and his ass looked as fine as a cold drink on a summer day. Olivia lost herself when she looked up and him. His hair was magnificent. Thick light brown curls in the back that she just wanted to touch. She made eye contact with him, and she swore she could see the ocean calm in his eyes as he stared back at her. Suddenly her heart began to pound, and she had to look away. What just happened? she asked herself.
"Because I am an officer off duty right now."
Olivia saw the bartender place another tequila in front of her. She held her hand up again, and the bartender looked at Fitz again as if to say blame that guy. The bartender also placed two scotch glasses in front of Fitz.
"Really, sir."
"Admiral is fine, I get called sir enough around here. You're obviously not in the Navy", Fitz said as he eyed the black v neck cut short dress she was wearing. "You don't have to call me sir. Admiral is fine for now."
Olivia smiled. Fitz felt his heart thump looking at that smile. "Ok," Olivia said with a nod. "Admiral, you don't have to get me another drink, I think I have had enough for the night."
Fitz's eyes pleaded with her. "Come on Carolyn, two more drinks with me, then I promise I'll leave you alone."
When he spoke, his voice sent a vibration through Olivia. She wanted to pull him down and taste those lips. She took in a deep breath to calm herself. "Fine, two more drinks, but you don't have to leave me alone. We can still…"
"Caro win, my bestest friend in the whole world today tomorrow and today, no wait yesterday." Abby was completely drunk. She put her arm around Liv's neck and whispered in her ear. "You have the most wanted man here." She thought she was whispering, but she could be heard by anyone within a ten-foot radius. "He is an Adermal…I mean and Ameral….and admril…"
Liv stopped Abby. "Amanda, this is Admiral Thomas. Admiral Thomas, this is my very best friend Amanda."
Fitz nodded to Abby. "Pleased to meet you."
Abby looked at Liv. "OMG Cars…. his voice." She turned back to Fitz, "you have the most amazing voice, like the most amazing…wow cars…if Russ could see you now."
"Amanda….." Liv said. "I don't think the Admiral wants to hear about Russ." Olivia looked up and was relieved to see Quinn coming their way. She seemed like she was coming down from her alcohol buzz. She had switched to beer and Quinn was one who could control her liquor.
"Everything ok?" Quinn said with a confused look.
"Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy LINDSEY". Abby nudged Fitz. "This is Lindsey." She tried to say, but it came out Linny.
Olivia shook her head; she couldn't help but laugh. She looked at Quinn with a "take Abby to the hotel look." Then she turned to Fitz. "Admiral Thomas, this is my other best friend, Lindsey."
"Hello Lindsey."
Quinn had to take a swallow before speaking. "Pleased to meet you Admiral." She turned to Liv widened her eyes and mouthed "holy shit". "I was just coming over to see if you two are ready to get going. "She said out loud.
"Go where Linny? See him over there, that's Captain David." Quinn looked over to the guy Abby was dancing with since she got here. He gave a wave. Quinn walked over to him, said a few words, handed him a piece of paper, and shook his hand.
While Quinn was briefly gone, there was an awkward silence between the three of them. Abby finally said, "You know Adermeral…your shirt makes your chest look hot and really really big."
Olivia bit her bottom lip and rolled her eyes. Without even thinking, she picked up the lemon, licked the salt, sucked and downed the drink that was in front of her. She just wanted to slip under the table. She loved Abby dearly, but she clearly was trashed, and they needed to go.
"Hey Carolyn, you ready? Amanda babes don't worry about the Captain, I gave him your number…you'll hear from him again. Put the glass down…..time to get some rest….we can do this all again tomorrow."
"ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh kayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Linny." She took one last look at Fitz. "Linny is my other best friend, not like cars here, but the goodest." Fitz couldn't help but smile. Quinn looked at him, took Abby's hand, and told the Admiral it was nice meeting him. She turned to Liv, "we'll wait in the car."
"Wait", Fitz said. Even when the word came out of his mouth, he couldn't believe he said it. "Uh, Lindsey, I'll get Carolyn back to the hotel." He looked at Olivia who was gathering her things together.
She stopped when she heard his words. She looked at him. She didn't' know if it was the tequila, but this man did things to her. She looked at Quinn who was waiting for her approval.
"It's fine Lindsey, I'll get to the hotel."
"Call me if you need anything."
"byeeeee you fiiiiiine Adermal…." Abby said as she hung on to Quinn to exit.
"That was exciting." Fitz said looking amused at Oliva. "Cars?"
"It's Amanda's drunk nickname for me." Olivia just shook her head slightly embarrassed but more amused. Abby meant well. She was right, he was fine, and she could feel all the stares from the Navy guys. She was off limits with him talking to her.
"So, what do you do. You seem important", she asked as she was scoping the room.
Fitz looked around with her. As soon as he did, all the guys looked away. Now it was Fitz's turn to be embarrassed. "I do a little flying, a little training, a little commanding, you know all different Navy ish things. What about you, what do you do?"
Liv turned towards the bar, saw the bartender with the drink. He looked at her again. "I know," she said, "it's his fault, but this is the last one, I don't care what he's paid you." The bartender shrugged and walked away.
"Just one more,", Fitz said. "Let's down this one together. "
Liv nodded, licked the salt, sucked the lemon, and in sync their two heads went back as they downed the drink. They both looked at each other and for the first time their stare magnetized. Their eyes drew them to one another. Fitz backed away first.
He reached out and touched her hand. Olivia felt goosebumps run up her arm. His touch was electric. He rubbed his thumb on the top of her hand. "I know this may sound inappropriate, but my cabin is right up the road, would you…" then he stopped, and she felt a wave of disappointment. Then he started again. "I'm sorry, I am not like that. I just want you to know, I am not a…I just…."
She felt her thumb go to the top of his hand. "It's fine, Admiral, I trust you. When I have a gut feeling about something, I am usually right. My gut tells me you're a nice guy. You were saying about your cabin?" Olivia looked side eyed at him.
"It's right up the road, walking distance, we can go there. It's quieter, and I don't have any liquor there." He smiled.
"Ok, then Admiral, let's go to your cabin. I am just sending a text to Lindsey, so she doesn't worry."
Fitz was making a run to the bathroom while she sent the text.
She took her phone out and realized she left her new one in the car. She turned this one on, but the screen was blank. It had already been turned off. "Shit," she said out loud. She asked the bartender if she could use his phone. She sent Quinn a quick text.
"Going to his cabin on the Base. This is the bartender's phone, left my new one in the car. Don't wait up. Q….This man is fine AF. Don't text back"
She deleted the message and the number before handing the phone back thanking the bartender. He leaned over. "You're the talk of the base little lady. You may have landed the most eligible bachelor in the Navy. He's head over heels for you." Liv smiled and saw Fitz coming back towards her. She met him halfway and he interlocked his hand with hers as they walked out of the bar together without letting all the eyes on them bother their moment one bit.
During the short walk, Fitz looked down at her. "I really don't want you to think I am asking you to my cabin for anything other than to get to know you."
Olivia smiled to herself. She swung his hand forward and answered him. "Good, because I plan to let you get to know me." She felt a numbness overcome her, and she couldn't wait for his cabin door to be closed. She could feel nothing but desire for this man and couldn't wait to feel what he can do to her.
They approached his door. Before he opened it, they both turned and looked at each other. "Carolyn", Fitz began.
"Admiral, open the damn door, please." Olivia pleaded with him.
As soon as the slam of the door closing was clear he had her up against the door. Just like she imagined, her hands went straight for his hair and she was feeling all around the softness. They started with one beautiful, passionate kiss, and his tongue felt divine. It sent an explosion through her body.
Just as he imagined, as her hands were messing his hair, his lips made it to her neck, and he let out a small moan as he felt her smooth skin. He had never had such desire for a woman as he had with her.
He stopped and took her hand and walked with her over to the bed. They stopped momentarily and Olivia lifted her dress over her head and tossed it on the floor. In the same moment, Fitz took off his shirt and Olivia had to control her gasp. This man was beyond gorgeous. She looked at him from chest to toe. Not only was he gorgeous, he was ready for her.
"I am on the pill. I have been for quite some time", she looked up at him. "You know, in case our talking takes us further."
He leaned down and stopped her mid-sentence with another heart melting kiss. Olivia couldn't control the moan that came from the back of her throat. She tasted his scotch mixed with her tequila and it was such a turn on. She drove deeper into the kiss and unzipped his pants as she pushed him towards the bed.
Before he sat down, he lowered his pants. There he stood naked in front of her. Olivia was impressed with the size, but she wasn't sure it was at full capacity. She looked at him, licked her lips and unhooked her bra. She let it fall as he lay back on the bed. He wasn't expecting her to, but Olivia took him in her mouth. Just as Olivia suspected, he grew inside her mouth. She took it all in.
Her lips were warm and wet, and it felt amazing. Fitz reached out and touched one of her beautiful, shaped breasts. Her skin was so smooth. She didn't stop, not even for a breath, she was making him unravel. He was able to look down and see him fully in her mouth, and it turned him on more than he ever imagined it could.
He started breathing rather heavy, never getting as close to climaxing this fast ever. He gave a hard swallow and said "Carolyn, stop, please. Just give me a minute."
That's who Olivia wanted to be. She wanted to be Carolyn. She didn't want this beautiful man to know her as Olivia. She wanted to be a stranger. Even though she felt things for him she never felt before, she wasn't ready to come back to reality.
She stopped. His head went back on the bed as he tried to calm himself. She took the moment to take off her panties and when she saw he had calmed a bit, she climbed up and mounted him.
Before she could get it inside of her, he was quick enough to move his fingers to feel her. "God Carolyn, you are so wet."
"That's for you baby. You did this to me. You. Are. One. Fine. Man. Admiral." She welcomed his fingers and he felt around her warmth waiting for him. His other hand made it up to the back of her neck and pulled her down towards his lips. His tongue slipped deep in her mouth and she returned her tongue into his mouth. She could kiss him all night.
She pulled back. "Admiral Thomas," she whispered seductively. "I hope you don't mind if I kiss you like that all night." He smiled and pulled her back down to his mouth.
He finally pulled his fingers out of her and she used her hand to slip him inside her. She felt him push deep inside, and once she was satisfied it was deep enough, Olivia started rotating her hips. She looked down to see his deep blue eyes staring at every inch of her body. It was then she realized the true effect this man was having on her. She felt drops of sweat cover her body as she started to pant heavily feeling him so deep in her, as she rubbed his chest.
Fitz just let her take control. He was always in control when he was with a woman, but not this time. Once he was inside her, he felt the fire. The good, burning sensation as she drew him in. He was so deep inside her and once she started to pant, the feeling went beyond sexual. She was making him feel something that started inside her and found it's way through to his body. Finally, he had to take control.
He grabbed her ass cheeks and rolled on top of her, never releasing himself from her. He started to thrust and stopped. She looked at him, curiously. "This ok?" He wanted to know if he was taking it too far.
She rubbed his chest, "please Admiral, don't stop."
She braced herself for his weight on top of her as he began to slowly thrust himself in and out of her. It wasn't rough, it wasn't soft, it was just right, and Olivia didn't know how much longer she could hold on. She felt a drop of his sweat from his hair fall on her chest. She rubbed his hair again, despite the sweat and moaned in pure delight. The next thrust from Fitz was her undoing, and she felt her body arch as she moaned louder without restraint. She couldn't help it, he felt that good. She felt weak under his body and he kept thrusting.
Within minutes, his moans grew, and his head faced the ceiling. Then he looked down at her. Her eyes were closed, and she was weak from her climax. He couldn't help it. He put his lips on hers and opened them with his tongue as he slowly emptied himself into her.
Her hands wrapped themselves around his back as his head fell weakly into her neck. "Jesus, that was amazing." He looked at her, and she met his stare. "It really was", she agreed. This time, she pulled him down into the kiss.
He rolled off her, and she was exhausted. He could see that, and he lifted his arm for her to place her head on his chest. "Come here."
She put her head gently on his gorgeous chest. He caressed her hair then her face. Before Olivia could even speak, she fell into a comfortable sleep, in the arms of this beautiful stranger.
Fitz heard her breathing slow down and realized she had drifted off into sleep. He needed to know more about her. His heart had never felt this full. This woman did things to him no other woman has ever done to him. "Carolyn Perkins, who are you?", he whispered as he caressed her hair. He felt himself suddenly crash into sleep as this beautiful mystery lay soundly in his arms.
Olivia stirred a bit before she opened her eyes. She had to blink a few times to realize where she was. She remembered the bar, she remembered the cabin, but most of all she remembered him. She opened her eyes, and he was there facing her. He was asleep, and just as gorgeous sleeping as he was awake. She stared at him. She felt something ache in her core, and she had the urge to want him again.
She turned to face the ceiling, thinking of her years with Russell and never once having a feeling like she had with this man. She never felt a connection like this, and yet she couldn't find the courage to tell him her real name. She just wasn't ready for another heartbreak. Maybe they would meet again tomorrow night, or later, she didn't even know what time it was, but it was still dark. She wasn't going to make this out to be more than it was. She was just feeling anxious about starting over. This is just a lust thing, sex for tonight, and maybe tomorrow. She put her arm over her eyes. God, he felt so good. His soft lips, his delicate hands, his…and she felt him.
She felt a movement and then, like magic his lips were on hers. She didn't even pull away. She just gave a smile and pulled her arm off her eyes. He was looking down at her. She swore his eyes were blue, but now they almost looked grey. "Hey beautiful." He said as he smiled back.
"Hi", she said.
"Hi", he said. He looked over at his alarm clock. "It's 230 am. You want something to eat. The mess hall is open with vending machines."
Liv shook her head. "I am good. I think I really need a shower. You mind if I use your bathroom."
"I do mind if you use the shower without me. It's kind of small, but I can hold you in my arms while the hot water beats down on us", his eyes were begging her to say yes.
"I will call you in when I am ready", she said with smiling eyes.
She grabbed his NAVY shirt and put it over her. She grabbed her underwear and headed to the bathroom. He watched her every move and when the door closed, he whispered…."Fitz, tell her who you really are." He rubbed his hand through his hair.
Her friends said they were going back to the bar tonight, later. He'll meet up with her there and tell her. He was just enjoying her, this, everything about her. In all fairness, he didn't know too much about her, and it's time he questions her who Russ is.
He heard the water turn on and the door open. "I'm ready if you are", she called. He walked over, with just his boxers on.
"I like it hot", she said with a smirk. The steam was already rising from the water. She stepped in the standing only shower, it wasn't even a tub, and he joined her. He wrapped her in his arms, and it felt so good to feel her skin so wet against his body.
She rested her head on his chest and let her hair get wet. "I love your curls", he said as his hand caressed her hair.
"I can say the same for your curls, Admiral.", Liv reached up and grabbed the shampoo. She put a small squirt in her palm and reached up to his hair. He leaned down a bit as she massaged the liquid to a foam on his head. It must have felt good because she felt him expanding down below.
"You like that, Admiral?"
"I do, Carolyn, I like that a lot. In fact, I love when you touch me. It doesn't matter where."
With those words, she grabbed his erection in her hand and gently started stroking him. She turned so his back was to the water and he put his head under to rinse the shampoo out of his hair. Olivia never let go of him, and he pulled her close to him as she continued.
Not to be outdone, he reached down and inserted two fingers into her entry, and she moaned with pleasure. They were both relentless in letting the other one go, but Olivia lost control first, as his fingers came out and rubbed outside. He felt her starting to shake and held her close. Even after she climaxed, she kept stroking him until he finally came undone. They stood letting the water beat down on them for several minutes, and they started washing one another.
Back in bed, all dried off and cleaned, Olivia wore his NAVY shirt with only her underwear underneath. He asked about Russ and Liv froze for a moment. She realized what Abby had said in the bar.
"The past, that's who he is. We had a relationship, but it's been over for a month now. What about you? Married? Divorced? Taken? Wanted?"
"Hmm…no, none of the above. Although I hope to someday be wanted."
He was holding his head up with his elbow, looking down at her. "I have to leave early in the morning. You're welcome to stay here if you want. I won't be back until early evening though. Can we make it a date now to meet back at the bar?"
Liv shrugged. "Sure, I don't see why not. I'll call an Uber when you leave in the morning."
"Why don't you sleep in a bit? I will get someone from the Base drive you to the hotel."
"Ok". She saw him stare at her. "What."
"Can I just….I just want….to…I just have the urge to kiss you again."
"What are you waiting for then?"
They locked their lips together and continued the onslaught of their tongues for several minutes. Olivia then cuddled up close to him and fell asleep.
Olivia woke up to some knocking at the door. The bed was empty. She glanced over at the clock reading 930. She noticed a note under the clock, but she didn't get a chance to read it. She walked towards the door, noticing one of the Admiral's uniforms were gone. A young soldier stood at the door.
"Ma'am, I was instructed to take you to your hotel, would you like me to come back?"
Olivia told him to give her ten minutes. She walked back to where the note was.
"Carolyn, I look forward to seeing you later at the bar. Thank you for making my heart full." There were two pictures. One was an empty heart that read before Carolyn, one was colored in that said after Carolyn. She put the note in her purse, along with his Navy shirt, put her dress over herself, and headed out.
Lieutenant Cyrus Beene greeted Admiral Fitzgerald Grant as the approached the training session. The twelve Navy pilot soldiers stood saluting as Fitz walked to the front of the chairs. He saluted back and signaled for the soldiers to sit.
"Welcome Admiral. Thank you for agreeing to the training session. The soldiers are looking forward to learning from your knowledge."
Fitz shook his hand. Cyrus has been friends with his father for a very long time. He was the reason he agreed to come on board with this. He wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible. It wasn't because he didn't want to be here, he wanted to be back in his cabin, with her.
"Pleasure to be of service, Cyrus. Thank you for reaching out to me. I love to help the young pilots. Shall we begin?"
As one of the trainees was presenting a summary of what Fitz had just taught, Fitz was lost in thought. He couldn't stop thinking of feeling her in his arms, the smell of her skin, the closeness of the shower. He was completely lost in his daydream when Cyrus tapped him on the shoulder.
He jumped, a bit startled, and looked at Cyrus. The look on his face was serious. "Cy, what is it?" Fitz looked down as Cyrus handed him a cell phone. On the other end was Lucinda, their long-time housekeeper and employee in Santa Barbara. She was trying to reach Fitz. He needed to come home immediately. His father had suffered a debilitating stroke and it didn't seem like he would make it through the night.
Fitz felt a bit of numbness as he handed the phone back to Cyrus. Cyrus ushered him to a car they had waiting. "Sir, your cabin has been taken care of, your things are in the car."
Carolyn had been long gone he figured by the time they got his things. He searched through his bag, for a note, for anything, but there was nothing. With the thought of his father and then the thought of never seeing her again, Fitz just sunk down in the back seat of the car as he headed to the aircraft that would take him home.
Olivia entered the hotel room and covered her nose. She almost vomited from the smell coming from the room. Both Quinn and Abby were passed out on the beds. WTF is that smell? She shoved Quinn a bit to wake her up. Quinn jumped up from the bed.
"QUINN. What the hell is that smell? Geez, I am going to frigging vomit!"
Quinn took a second to get her surroundings. She whiffed the air and said, "Oh shit, that's foul."
They followed the odor to the bathroom and noticed there was vomit all over the floor. Olivia pointed to it. "I guess you didn't hear her get sick during the night?"
They went to check on Abby, who was out cold, but breathing. Olivia took a cloth, wet it so it was damp, not freezing, and rubbed it along her forehead. Abby started to stir around. Quinn felt Abby's skin. It was clammy. Abby tried to speak, but her speech was still a bit slurred. Having been an EMT, Quinn figured Abby had a case of alcohol poisoning.
"We have to get back, Liv" Quinn looked at her with some remorse. "She needs to get to a doctor."
"Of course," Liv didn't hesitate. "Let me just get into something comfortable and clean up the bathroom a bit." She was a bit upset about not being able to see the Admiral again, but she would just call….she can't call him, she never got his number. Ok, she will call the base and get a message to him. They will meet again somewhere; she was certain of it. She began cleaning up the mess in the bathroom, got dressed, helped Quinn get Abby dressed and called for the car service.
Olivia left Pensacola behind with the thoughts of the night overloading her brain. All she could do was feel him inside her, feel his arms around her, and feel his curls in her hands. She couldn't stop thinking about him.
"Spill it, woman." Quinn sat up while Abby lay with her head on her lap, in and out of grogginess. Olivia did, she spilled it all to Quinn, and Quinn told her the obvious when it was all said and done. "Liv, you just fell in love overnight."
Olivia sighed and looked out the window for the remainder of the ride. Maybe she did fall in love, but wouldn't it be nice if whom she loved knew her real name and where she was going?
Two Weeks later:
Fitzgerald Grant the Second held on for another week. There wasn't much left of the man Fitz knew as his father. He lay in a hospital bed hooked up to machines that kept him alive. When Fitz made the decision to disconnect the machine, his father still hung on. During this time, Fitz spent his days putting together his father's belongings and getting the house in Santa Barbara in order. He didn't have much time to think about anything else.
His father, being a decorated Veteran would be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Knowing he was going to Washington DC; Fitz made some arrangements. He wanted a change in his life. He inquired with some of his friends from the service. He found out there was an opening in DC for the Chief of Naval Operations Staff in the Naval Air Warfare Program. This program deals with the Naval Aviation capabilities, a field that was right up Fitz's alley.
He made a few more calls stating his interest in the position. In the whole time span up until the day before leaving for Arlington, he found out he had indeed qualified for the position and could start immediately after his father's burial. With that promotion, he would be awarded his three stars. With all the good happening, despite the sadness of burying his father, his heart was empty again.
He had everyone he knew could help try to find Carolyn Perkins. The woman did not exist. Everyone by that name was not the woman he was with in Pensacola. He started to believe he dreamed her. It was just a dream that he woke up with to the news of his father's death.
He hadn't slept in days, and his heart was aching. He arrived at the Arlington National Cemetery ready to say his final goodbye to the man he loathed his whole life. Once the burial was over, many of his fellow Navy officers asked Fitz if there was anything they could do. He was going to head to his hotel sleep for the remainder of the day and meet up at the Pentagon tomorrow to begin his new position.
He was left standing alone at the burial site. Everyone had finally left and the quiet was serene. He looked up at the clear blue sky and noticed a white dove fly over the Cemetery. It was cue to Fitz. He needed to be at peace. No more hate for this man, he couldn't hurt him anymore.
Before he turned to leave, he heard a familiar voice behind him, and he actually had to blink a few times to make sure he was awake.
"My condolences on the loss of your father Admiral Thomas." Olivia stood behind Fitz and saw him spin completely around. He looked so good in his full Naval uniform. As soon as Olivia saw his eyes again, her body grew numb. It was the same feeling she had when she first met him.
Abby, Quinn, and Olivia arrived safely in DC three days after Abby was cleared to travel. They met Huck in a tremendous office located blocks from the White House. The four of them sat for days thinking what they would do with such enormous space. They decided they would work first on community work and take it from there. Olivia was the first to find an apartment, followed by Abby and Quinn. Huck was making the office his living space for the time being.
Olivia had called the Naval Base while Abby was being examined by the doctor. She was given the run around quite a few times, being told there was no Admiral by the name of Thomas on the Base. After several failed attempts, she finally gave up. She figured what they had was only meant to be for one night. She traveled with her friends to DC figuring she would never see the man of her dreams again.
They were all sitting around the large wooden table in the conference room of the office when Abby screamed at the TV. "LIV, LOOK!" Olivia couldn't believe what she was seeing. On the screen was a picture of "Admiral Thomas", but his name was listed as "Admiral Fitzgerald Grant". "Turn it up, Abby yelled.
"Popular Navy Admiral Fitzgerald Thomas Grant the Third will make his way to Washington DC tomorrow. Although he is arriving on solemn reasons, burying his father at Arlington, the Admiral will be starting his new position at the Pentagon as early as Monday. The Admiral's father, former Senator and Governor Fitzgerald Grant the Second died after complications from a stroke he suffered a week ago.
"The Admiral, who is known as one of the Navy's most eligible bachelors, will reside in Washington DC and serve the Navy in his new position. He is a decorated pilot, having earned many awards and honors throughout his Navy career."
Huck immediately got all the information Olivia would need about the burial and about Fitz. All three of her friends wanted to accompany her to the Cemetery, but she wanted to go on her own. She owed him that much.
"It's General now", Fitz smiled and looked down. He kicked a bit of grass, squinted in the sun and looked at Olivia. "Actually, it's Lieutenant General now, three stars. Good to see you again", and he tilted his head at her, "Carolyn, is it?"
She shook her head in a bit of shame and a bit of embarrassment. "Olivia, Olivia Pope."
Fitz put his hands in his pockets. He looked at her "Olivia, that's as beautiful as you are. Liv, Livvie, I like Livvie. How about this, I can call you Livvie, if you call me Fitz."
"Fitz, you want me to call a three star General, Fitz?" Olivia said with a chuckle.
Fitz grabbed her hand and walked towards the exit of the cemetery. "Actually, a wife doesn't normally address her husband by his military ranking."
Olivia froze in her tracks with those words. "What do you mean?"
Fitz tilted her chin up for her eyes to meet his. She weakened immediately as he brought his lips down to hers. He kissed her, softly, a gentle lip lock that soothed her insides. Her hand immediately reached for his curls and she slowly wiggled her fingers through hair.
They both pulled back, breathing deeply. "Olivia, Liv, I couldn't stop thinking about you. I thought you were a dream I made up in my mind." He couldn't stop staring at her, couldn't stop caressing her cheek.
Olivia leaned into his touch. "Same here, Fitz. The only way I fell asleep at night was pretending I was in your arms. Sometimes I thought that night never happened at all, like it was something I made up to ease away some pain. Now what did you mean about a wife and her military man?, she asked as she fixed his collar.
"I mean, come back to my hotel with me Olivia. Come with me, get to know me, stay with me even if it's just for a minute. I want to belong to you, I want to exist for you. After we talk, we can take it from there. But, I will tell you now, I never want to lose you again."
She looked in his eyes that mesmerized her, and he looked helplessly into hers. This time she saw emptiness and sadness, and that needed to change.
Olivia couldn't decline such an offer. "Fitz, I... talk...get to know one another, ok, let's do this."
Six years later (present day)
"And you lived happily ever after?" Five-year-old Brielle said with a squeal.
"No, we are living happily now my sweet little princess warrior." Fitz loved addressing his daughter as a princess and a warrior.
"Daddy tell me the story again. I want to know why Mommy didn't know you were her Prince when she met you."
"I think you had enough story telling for the night my beautiful angel. It is time for you to go to sleep and dream about your own happily ever after. "
Brielle looked at the doorway "Mommy, come say good night with us." Fitz turned to see Olivia standing at the door.
"Hey, Livvie, how long you been standing there?"
"Long enough to hear the kid version of the story of when we met. but to think back to the true version. That's a memory I'll never forget."
"Did I do it justice, Carolyn?" His mouth smirked up in a smile.
"I think you did its justice perfectly, Ameral, Admirl, Adermeral Thomas."
She sat next to Fitz on the bed. She covered their daughter as she cuddled into her pillow. Brielle laughed, "Aunt Abby is so funny." She looked at Olivia.
"Mommy, why didn't you tell Daddy your real name when you met him?"
Olivia looked lovingly at her always curious daughter. She caressed her soft cheek as she spoke to her. "Well, you know when Cinderella lost her slipper and the Prince had to go and search for her?"
"Yes, he didn't stop until he found her. He didn't stop because he really loved her."
"Exactly Brie, he didn't stop, and your daddy didn't stop either. He found his Princess because he loved her very much, and his Princess was waiting for him, just like he wished."
Fitz leaned over and gave Olivia a gentle kiss on the cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too", Olivia said as she hugged him.
Brielle jumped from under the covers and wrapped an arm around both of their necks. "And I love both of you the most."
