If you are reading this for the first time, this chapter was rewritten a second time to fit in more with the later part of the story. I do not own anything in this story.

In the home of a small family, a young teenage girl was moving around in her sleep slightly whimpering at the dream her mind was creating unconsciously. She keeps moving around in her sleep feeling like she was flying through the air. Unfortunately, her flying was actually her fazing through the bed, and she falls out of the ceiling to the basement and hits the ground screaming in fear unaware of what just happened to her. She wakes up immediately from her dream turn nightmare and notices that she is in the basement immediately. She hears the door open and sees her parents running down to her in worry.

"What happened? Where you sleep walking?" Her dad asks as he and her mother run up to her in surprise.

"No, I-I fell...I fell through the ceiling." She allows her mom to put her arms around her in comfort as she start crying in fear.

Suddenly an alert sign came up at the Xavier Institute. "Discovery mutant signature." Cerebro said. It brought up a map and continued, "Second detection in this vicinity. Extrapolation complete. Identity confirmed. Name: Kitty Pryde. Residence: Northbrook. Age: 15."

The scene changes back to Kitty with her parents in the basement. Kitty is still crying while her mother talks. "Now dear, I'm sure you were just having a nightmare." Kitty's mom says trying to calm her daughter down.

The father looks up and says, "I... don't think so." The mother looks up and sees the blanket and pillow hanging inside the ceiling of the basement.

Kitty looks up at the two things hanging in the ceiling. "What am I? What's happening to me?" Kitty asks feeling really scared about the situation.

"I think that we should talk about this is the morning Kitty." Her father says getting her up with her mother. The family heads back upstairs and tries to go back to bed, but it takes nearly an hour for Kitty to calm down before sleep takes over her mind. The parents head back to their room and go to sleep thinking about what had just occurred with their daughter.

Danny lies down on his bed looking at the small green orb being held between his index finger and thumb with his right hand. 'What kind of power are you?' He thinks raising an eyebrow at the small ball of green energy. 'The Professor said that the accident unlocked my mutant power from the X-gene, but this is a bit much for power.'

Flashback

Danny stares at the television feeling bored out of his mind not really listening to what was playing on the screen. Kurt teleports into the room and jumps onto the couch in excitement. "Alright time to watch some…Vhy are you watching da news for?" Kurt looks at Danny wondering why his friend was watching the news. "Vhat about our cartoons man? Zere's got to be something on."

Danny glances at Kurt sighing at the situation he was put in. "Normally, I would be switching the channels, but Logan destroyed the remote." Danny pulls the destroyed remote up and tosses it over to Kurt who gasps in surprise at the claw marks left on the front of it. "Yep, we got nothing to change our television with."

"Den why are you still here?"

"Do you want to go to the library with Jean and Scott or go to the Danger Room with Logan?" Danny asks sarcastically.

Kurt sighs in defeat knowing that Danny's question was asked because of the situation. He glances at the remote then at his friend. "Would your new power be able to fix da remote?" He asks curiously.

Danny shrugs his shoulders then glances at the remote. "It's worth a shot." He snatches the remote from Kurt's hands and makes his free hand glow green. "Here goes nothing…"

(30 secs later)

"Duck in cover!" Danny yells as he and Kurt jump out of the living room.

'BOOM'

Danny and Kurt slide on the floor then glance back at the green goo on the ceiling, floor, couch, chairs, walls, and all the other furniture in the room. "Well, it couldn't get any worse." Danny mutters happily

"I wouldn't be too sure about that." The two look up to see Ororo standing over them with her arms crossed over her chest. "What do you guys have to say for yourselves?"

"We didn't do it?" Kurt says in a questioning manner with a sheepish smile.

'We're screwed.' Danny thinks keeping a mental note that his powers cannot fix anything electronic.

End Flashback

'The only good thing out of that was getting a new television and that new couch.' Danny chuckles at the thought.

Jean, Danny, I have a little mission for us to go on. I need you two to get ready for we are going to pick up a couple of mutants. Xavier telepathically tells his two students.

We'll be on our way professor. Jean replies back getting Danny to groan.

"My life just had to be an interesting life. I don't even know how to convince people to join our ranks though." Danny mutters as he absorbs his green energy and transforms into his ghost form. He gets off his bed and stretches his back to get the knot he built up from lying on the bed. "Well, I might as well be going now." He walks through the door and turns to his left to see Jean standing there with a raised eyebrow. "What did I do this time?" He asks not really liking the look Jean was giving him.

"Did you really decide to transform into your ghost form?" Jean asks him

Danny shrugs, "I'm tired Jean. The professor is taking us somewhere during the night leaving Scott and Kurt with the others. I just hope that they don't get into trouble, and by trouble I mean Kurt pulling off pranks on Wolverine." They walk down the hallway and meet the professor at the Blackbird.

"Kurt is not that…" Jean stops her statement making Danny raise an eyebrow at her. "Ok, you win this one."

Danny smirks, "That's good to hear. If you would have continued, I probably would have pulled the Scott card."

Jean glares at him. "You wouldn't dare." Jean sees the gleam in his right eye and groans feeling frustrated that Danny was messing with her mind. "Danny, I got other things to worry more about than Scott."

Danny shrugs nonchalantly and says, "Ok, whatever you say Jean, you better hope he doesn't find out about the picture…" Danny stops talking when Jean puts her hand over his mouth getting him to smirk under her hand. I win again.

You are a cruel friend.

You still like having me around. The two continue their walk to the Blackbird but in total silence.

"I'm glad you two made it. Now we must be off. I'll explain on the way." Xavier tells the two teens before boarding the Blackbird. The two students nod and board the Blackbird as Xavier puts in the coordinates to the location of the newest mutant. "I know that this sudden you two, but our timing is crucial with this."

"Am I going just to be punished from the accident that Kurt and I caused last week?" Danny asks Xavier.

Charles glances over at Danny who sits down on the pilot seat. "No, this trip will be a learning experience for you to learn how to talk to other mutants and how you should handle things when it comes to the recruitment."

The next morning Kurt runs to school trying to eat the breakfast burger he bought before school. He looks down at his watch and gasps, "Ah late again." He stuffs the rest of the burger in his mouth and looks around the area before teleporting himself near the school where no one was around. He sighs in relief glad that he made it to school with no one around and walks to the front doors only to see the principle standing there. "Ah, Ms. Darkholme!" He says surprised to see the principle standing there waiting for someone like him.

The principle grabs his wrist and looks at the watch enjoying the fact that she gets to mess with Xavier's students. "Hm, watch isn't slow. It must be you. Another tardy Mr. Wagner, and I am enrolling you in my after school group."

Scott walks through the front doors making it before their principle could continue tormenting Kurt. "Hey, light a fire under it kid. Your teacher sent me to look for you." He walks up to Kurt and puts his hand on his shoulder and pushed him to the front door. "Ms. Darkholme." He gives the principle a respectful nod to her and enters the school with Kurt leaving their principle alone outside. "Stopped off for another breakfast burger at Gut Bomb didn't you?" He asks when they were at a safe distance from their principle.

Kurt shrugs his shoulders as they walk through the hallway. "What can I say? It's an addiction."

Scott sighs at Kurt's excuse and waves it off before Kurt could come up with another lame excuse. "Come on. We need to get to class."

Kitty finishes packing up her backpack and sighs not liking the idea of staying home. "I hope mom and dad don't like get mad at me for doing this." She mutters as she puts the bag over her shoulder. She glances outside her room and leaves her room shutting the door behind her.

Kitty walks down the stairs and looks around carefully making sure the coast was clear. She tip toes to the front door and opens the door hoping that neither of her parents notice her leaving. "Dear, I thought that we agreed that you were staying home today." Her mother says getting Kitty to groan not liking the fact that she was caught leaving for school.

Kitty turns around to give her mom a counter argument. "Yeah, well what's the point you know? You guys don't want to talk about it, and I'll like totally go crazy sitting around here." She flips some of her hair with her hand being a little dramatic about her situation.

"But should you really be at school?" Her mother asks not loving the idea of something bad happening to her daughter.

"Kitty! Honey where are you?" Her dad asks catching their attention.

Kitty turns her attention back to her mom worry clearly seen in her eyes. "Please mom? Dad will make me stay." She pleads not wanting to stay cooped up in her home.

Her mom sighs when she sees the look her daughter was giving her. "Alright go on." Kitty gives her a blow kiss and waves goodbye as she leaves the house. Her mom waves worried about the things that could happen to her daughter. 'Be careful.'

Meanwhile in the Blackbird, Xavier finishes his explanation on what they will be doing for this trip not getting positive looks from Jean and Danny. "Why just us? Why couldn't all of us come?" Jean asks not liking the fact they left the rest of the team at Bayville.

"Because you're the one who can connect with this girl, and Danny might be able to convince Lance while we are there." Xavier explains as Danny drives the Blackbird to the airport.

Jean glances over in Danny's general direction and raises an eyebrow, "Are you sure that's the only reason?"

"Sure, go ahead and drop hints about the accident with the living room. I shouldn't have to remind you that Kurt and I were seeing if my powers could repair things." Danny counters not liking the fact that Jean was trying to get one over him.

"That's enough." Charles orders Danny and Jean getting both teens to drop the argument. "Lance Alvers will not be an easy mutant to convince to join our group, but Danny needs the experience talking to other mutants. This should hopefully give you the experience you need for future recruitments, and I say that because we do not know what we will be facing in the future."

Danny shrugs his shoulders and gives Professor Xavier an uneasy smile. "You're putting too much confidence in me Professor. I can't even do that well in school." Danny reminds him.

"Don't start selling yourself short Danny." Jean says getting the teen to sigh getting a feeling where Jean was going with that statement. "You're good at many things. Sure school isn't your strong suit, but you learned how to control your powers a lot faster than the rest of us have. I doubt we can control our powers as much as you can now."

"She's right Daniel. Your control is progressing rather fast which is good for mutant to have…"

"I don't really care Professor." Danny interrupts Professor X surprising both occupants in the Blackbird. "I know the others want to be able to control their powers as fast as I am, but I feel like I'm missing something. I just wish I knew what it was."

"Maybe we can help you find it after we finish the mission." Jean suggests.

Danny gives Jean a small smile grateful she was willing to help him with his feeling. "Thanks Jean."

"Once we get to the airport we're going to need to focus on the current task. You remember what you need to do Daniel?" Charles asks Danny.

Danny sighs not liking the fact that he was doing his first recruitment alone. "Yeah, I'm going to find Lance Alvers and try to convince him to join us." Danny answers which got a small grin from the other two passengers. "If he turns out to be a punk and believes something else about us, then you should not count on me convincing him to join us."

"Daniel…"

"I'm just saying Professor. I might talk with Todd back at our school, but not all mutants think like we do."

"Yes, but every mutant deserves a chance even those who don't deserve it." The Professor explains.

Danny sighs in defeat and see the airport up ahead for them to land. "We're about to make our decent. Let's hope everything will go over smoothly."

"He does know this won't go smoothly right?" Jean asks as she was pushing Professor Xavier's chair to their destination.

"Yes, but hope is something all of us will need even if it is just a little bit." Charles explains to his student.

"I see." Jean mutters as she walks up to the Pryde's home.

"Just let me do all the talking Jean. We do not know how shaken up the family will be because of Katherine's recent mutant development."

"Yes Professor."

Once the two reach the front door of the Pryde's house, and Jean rings the doorbell standing on the Professor's right side. They hear the door open and see both parents standing at the door. "Hello, is there anything we could help you with?" The father asks not wanting to be rude to the surprise visitors.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Pryde, if it isn't too much to talk about, I would like to talk about your daughter Kitty." Professor Xavier decides to open the conversation with

"What are you talking about? How do you know Kitty?" The mother asks worryingly.

"Please may we come in for a moment? We'll answer all your questions and anything you need..." Jean starts to explain when the father puts his hand up anger showing in his eyes.

"Excuse me miss you can talk to us out here." He tells them not liking where the conversation was going.

Xavier leans forward on his wheelchair sighing mentally. "Very well, I think you know Kitty is going through a very unique transition. We simply want to help her through it. Why don't you tell us about last night?"

Kitty's parents widen their eyes in surprise by the question. The father feels his wife put a hand on his shoulder and glances back at her to see his wife's worried look. He turns his head back to Xavier and says, "Last night is none of your business. Please just leave us alone." He walks back into the house with his wife and slams the door in front of the two.

"Huh, next time let's just call and get hung up on. Well I guess that we need to rely on Danny now." Jean says as she pulls her phone out.

"Yes, but you will be going there to get to know Kitty as well. Danny will focus on Lance or should focus on the boy." Xavier tells Jean.

"He is good at getting distracted." Jean mutters as she puts the phone up to her ear.

"Hello this is Danny." Danny answers

"Hey Danny, it's Jean."

"Well, how did it go?" Danny asks as he walks through the hallway of the school.

"Not well I'll be seeing you at the school. Did you meet either one yet?" She asks as she walks off the porch to the school while Charles follows her.

"Unfortunately, when I arrived, a couple of athletic girl hit on me and gave me their numbers. I got a glance of both, but I haven't been able to talk to either one yet." Danny explains while tossing the numbers into the trashcan. "I was going to give them to Kurt, but I got other things to focus on right now."

Jean chuckles, "I don't know if the girls or Kurt would like that joke."

Danny shrugs his shoulders, "Doesn't matter now. I threw them away."

"Those poor girls…"

"I'll see you when you get here Jean." Danny interrupts before hanging up on her. He looks around the school and stops when his eyes catch the teen heading to class. 'There she goes. I better go hide and wait until class is over.'

Logan wipes his motorcycle down making sure it was cleaned up for him to use and stops when a familiar scent hits his nose. He sniffs the air again and mutters, "Sabretooth." He puts his X-men costume and his helmet intending to find his enemy/rival. He starts his motorcycle up and drives off passing Kurt and Scott not caring that they saw him leaving.

"What's up wid Logan?" Kurt asks as they watch Logan leave.

"Wow, that man is packing some serious attitude." Scott says surprised by Logan's sudden change of attitude.

"Vant to follow him?" Kurt asks turning his head to Scott.

Scott grins. "Let's go!" The pair runs to the garage, and Scott opens the garage for them to see all the vehicles parked and ready to be used.

"Should we take the X-van?" Kurt asks while pointing at the black armored van

"Uh a lower profile I think, and cooler besides." Scott runs into the garage and hops into his red convertible. "You coming?" Kurt nods his head and teleports onto the passenger seat of the car.

"Hit it." Kurt tells Scott as he puts his arm on the back of the seat. Scott starts the engine and drives off with incredible speed hoping that they would catch up with Logan.

Danny hears the bell ring and mutters, "Well, I wonder how much time is left before they are let out." He gets out of his hiding spot and walks down the hallway to see Kitty putting some of her books away in her locker. His gaze turns to the two blonde girls that were looking and giggling at Kitty and realizes something bad was going to happen. He was about to go stop them when he realizes that no one knows who he is. 'That shouldn't matter. I don't know how Kitty will react when she sees people like her.'

"World closing in on yah Kitty." The blond girl says laughing at her cruel joke along with her friend. The walk away leaving Kitty alone in her locker.

"Hey, let me out you losers. Open this door." Kitty says as she pounds on the door. "Somebody, open this door." She growls getting frustrated that those girls did this to her. Danny looks around carefully to make sure no one was around and decides to go help her when the door to the boy's bathroom opens. Danny turns invisible not getting seen by the brown hair teen and watches as the guy pulls out a can of spray paint.

'Yeah, that's definitely not subtle one bit.' Danny thinks rolling his eyes at the wannabe punk.

The brown hair teen shakes the spray paint and starts walking down the halls spraying the lockers and whistling innocently. Kitty hears the whistling and asks, "Huh? Hey, who's out there? Can you hear me? Let me out!" Kitty accidentally activates her fazing power and goes through the locker landing straight on the guy.

Danny raises an eyebrow finding it a bit interesting that she could go through things. 'At least we have a relatable power, but would she be willing to talk? I highly doubt it if her powers are still new.'

Kitty looks down at her body realizing what she just did was like what happened to her during the middle of the night. 'This is getting too unreal.'

The teen looks up at Kitty on his hands and knees and points at her saying, "Hey, did you see what you just did?"

"What? I-I like just fell out." Kitty says trying to play it off like nothing important happened.

"Yeah man, right through the door." The teen looks back at the lockers a big grin growing on his face. "That is so cool." He tells her bumping his fists in excitement.

"You're crazy." She says trying to get away but was stopped when he grabs her wrist.

"Wait a minute; I'm the one guy around here who gets the beauty of it. 'Cus you are just like me." He tells her while pointing at himself. "Really?" Kitty gives him a look that shows she does not believe what he was saying. "Alright then," the teen glances around carefully, "check this." He reaches his hands out and activates his mutant power allowing him to start shaking the school ground. Kitty watches in fear as she feels the tremors and gasps when she sees the lockers open from the force as some books fall out. She looks back at the teen who stops using his powers to catch his breath. "Getting the picture?"

"No, you are just like some freak." He grabbed her arm. "Leave me alone!" She got out of his grasp and ran towards the gym lockers.

The guy smiles evilly as he watches her leave his view. "You can run, but you can't hide, because I'm going to rock your world."

Danny watches the teen walk away not caring about the mess he made earlier and pulls his phone out. He pushes a few buttons before putting the phone into his right pant's pocket. 'I'll leave things up to you Jean. Lance might be one of us, but he's not cut out to join us.' He thinks before wondering off to see the school while still invisible.

Jean opens her phone and reads the text Danny sent and sighs when she reads it carefully. "Well, I guess this recruitment mission is just for Kitty. I hope this Lance guy is not going to be a bad influence on her."

A couple hours later

Danny walks through the wall and looks around noticing the props lying around the room. "Huh, how did I end up in the theater?" He mutters not sure how he walked into the area. He shrugs his shoulders and walks down the isle walking up to the stage. "You would think this school would be looking better, but all I've seen here is what represents my old school and my new one. Bullies are still ruining people's lives, the school cares more about the publicity than what should be important, and the nobodies are still nobodies." He walks onto the stage and looks at the props not really interested in what he was seeing. "Glad I never got into theater."

He hears the back door open and close and turns invisible just in time to see Kitty walk onto the stage anger shown in her eyes. Kitty walks over to the table and kicks the closest chair away in frustration. She sits down on the table and accidentally makes the table lose it balance allowing the stuff on the table to fly up into the air. Kitty immediately turns around afraid of the stuff breaking and tries to catch the bowl only for it to go through her hands. She watches the bowl hit the ground then looks at her hands as she tries to understand what was going on with her.

Jean, let me talk to her. I have a feeling that I might be able to connect with her better than you can right now. Danny tells Jean telepathically.

Jean, who was about to enter the theater, stops her hand from grabbing the door handle and debates whether she should let him talk to Kitty. I don't know Danny.

I know you have your ideas on how you should approach this, but if she can phase through solid objects, I would have a better chance connecting with her.

Be careful then. Jean warns him.

When have I never been careful?

Do you really want me to answer that right now?

Spoil sport… Danny cuts his mind off from Jean unaware of what he just did and watches as Kitty moves her hand through the bowl. He decides to keep his mouth shut as she grabs the bowl with both of her hands and sets it down on the table. She moves her hands away from the table and looks down at her hands worryingly. 'She's scared and has no idea what is truly going on.' Danny thinks sighing mentally.

"What is happening to me?" She asks quietly.

"You're getting powers." Danny says but stay invisible as he watches her a few feet away from her on stage.

Kitty turns around to see who said that. "Who said that? Who's there?"

"There's no need to be frightened Kitty."

"H-How do you know who I am?" Kitty asks starting to get a little frightened.

"Maybe I should start with something else." Danny makes himself visible getting Kitty to stare at him with wide eyes. "My name is Danny Fenton, and I understand what you are going through."

Kitty stares at him fear starting to creep into her mind. "W-What do you mean?"

"I'm talking about your mutant power to phase through things, and the thought process of what other people would think of you when they see what you can do." Danny tries to explain but accidentally rushes it a bit.

"I don't know what you are talking about." Kitty says trying to play it off.

"Are you really going to ignore the fact I was just invisible a few seconds ago?" He asks raising an eyebrow that gets Kitty to smile sheepishly.

"Sorry, but I'm still new to all of this stuff."

"You're fine. I'm just trying to mess with you." Danny says waving off her apology. "I am curious though." He walks past Kitty who watches him unsure on how she should be reacting to him. "What do you plan to do with this power?" He asks as he reaches down and grabs the fake apple off the floor.

"What do you mean exactly?" Kitty asks raising an eyebrow at him.

"I know you're new at the idea of having your power," Danny sets the fruit into the bowl and turns his head to her, "but you don't know how it will work, and when you do finally know how it works, you could do anything you want with it."

"Do you mean like saving lives or something?" Kitty asks as she lets Danny's words settle in her mind.

"Something like that, or you could help teach other people like us on how to learn to control our powers."

"Is there even a place that could help me learn to control my power?"

Danny gives her a small grin. "Yep, it's known as the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters, and I happen to be a student there."

"Is it really possible to learn there?" Kitty asks liking the idea on learning how to control her power.

Danny nods his head. "Yep, I've learned a lot on how to control my powers." He tells her as he accidentally makes his pants intangible. Kitty glances down at Danny's pants as they fell to his feet. He sees her staring and looks down to see his pants not covering his legs and waist. He gets down and grabs his pants smiling sheepishly. "I still need to learn how to stop doing that though."

Kitty giggles at his little mishap. "I guess you're not good at controlling your powers as you think. What's your name?"

"I'm Danny Fenton, and yeah, you're right about my control. It's a work in progress." He admits as he puts his pants back in place around his waist.

Kitty smiles then glances over at a clock to see what the time is. She sees the time and sighs, "Oh man, I have to go."

"Do you want to meet up after school to talk about your situation?" Danny asks before she could walk away.

Kitty gives him a curious look and shrugs, "I don't see why I can't, but I need time to think about all of this."

"Ok, I have some interesting stories to tell you about the other students if you want to hear about them." Danny suggests getting the brunette to chuckle in response.

"I might actually take you on that offer. I'll see you around, Danny." Kitty walks away and leaves the building through the way she came in unaware that her negative thoughts on her powers were never thought of during their short conversation.

'Worked like a charm.' Danny thinks happy to get her thoughts to think positively about he mutant power. You can come in now Jean. He hears the door open and close at the front of the theater and turns his head to see Jean walking up to him.

She walks on stage with her arms crossed over her chest. "How did it go?" She asks him as she hides the urge to look through his mind.

"It went fine if I do say so myself." Danny gives Jean a victorious grin at his accomplishment. "I was able to distract her from freaking out about her mutant power by talking to her about learning how to control it."

Jean nods her head and gives Danny a soft smile. "You actually used your head for once."

"Don't start Jean. Let's just be serious about this, or I'll bring up Scott." He warns with a smirk growing on his face.

Jean puts both of her hands up in a mock surrender and says, "You win. I won't bring up your cluelessness, and you won't make fun of my relationship with Scott."

'I'm not clueless.' Danny thinks rolling his eyes not sure why people called him that. "Anyway, here's the plan I just thought of…"

Kitty walks up to her locker and opens it up putting her books away from her recent class. 'I might as well be talking to Danny instead of going through these classes. Those girls actually believe I had something to do with that little attack from Lance Alvers.' She thinks bitterly as she found out who he was from hearing a couple boys whispering about him. 'Those two idiots mentioned him and test scores. I bet that 'incident' was him 'helping' me.' She sighs mentally and starts grabbing her books for her last class. 'Easy Kitty, you only got one more class then you can go meet Danny and accept his offer to join this institute.'

Kitty feels a hand on her shoulder and glances back to find the teen who 'helped' her during gym class. "Can I help you?" She asks with little emotion not really caring for an answer.

Lance winces knowing that tone and removes his hand from her shoulder. "Sorry for earlier, I got a little excited when I found out you are like me." Lance apologizes while rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand.

Kitty hears the sincere words and sighs, "Ok, I accept your apology, but I've been through a lot today. All I want right now is to be alone."

Lance watches her walk away and groans mentally, 'Great, I need a plan and fast.' "Look I know what you are going through…"

"And I have an idea on what you want me to do." Kitty counters getting Lance to flinch in surprise. She turns back around to face him with anger in her eyes. "You were planning to use me to steal those answers to the midterms!"

Lance realizes his plans were now in complete jeopardy when she said those words. 'Shoot, there goes being the 'good' guy.' Lance narrows his eyebrows and asks, "What were thinking I was trying to do, huh? I finally meet someone like me, and you would rather hang out with that guy I saw you talking to in the theater, and it just so happens that he's like us. Well, you can forget it then. If you value the school and the people, you will meet me an hour after school outside the office, and you better come alone." Lance turns around and walks away leaving a frightened Kitty.

'He's going to hurt everyone in the school!' She thinks bitterly. Her mind goes back to the conversation with Danny and goes through the incident with his pants. "I need to find Danny after class." She mutters sadly before walking off to her last class.

Scott pulls his car down near the parking garage, and Kurt starts looking around trying to find out where Logan was at. "Ah, I lost him." Kurt says smacking the car door upset that he lost Logan.

"Hey, hey, watch the door panel. It's smudge resistant not dent resistant." Scott says not wanting to pay for any damages to his vehicle.

Kurt gives Scott a neutral look then looks up to see Logan standing on top of the parking garage. "There."

Wolverine looks back and forth looking and waiting for the person who he smelled earlier. He hears the motorcycle and turns his head to the noise just in time to see the bike come off the roof of the adjacent building. Logan jumps out of the way avoiding the person on the motorcycle and watches as the rider turns around and looks at Logan with his helmet still on. "Unfinished business runt." The man on the bike tells Logan.

"Bring it on pops. Bring it on." Wolverine brings his claws out and keeps his guard up. The man pushes the gas and drives the bike straight at Wolverine. Wolverine moves out of the way and slices the front part of the bike off. The man drives for a second when the front wheel falls off along with the metal that holds it in the place. The man drives it off the building, jumps off the bike, and grabs the building swinging back into the parking garage on a lower level.

Scott and Kurt see the motorcycle coming towards them and grab each other in surprise. Kurt teleports them out of the car right before the bike crashes onto Scott's car. The two reappear right next to the car, and Scott looks at his car in surprise. "My car!" Scott yells hating the idea that he would have to send it to the shop.

Wolverine waits for the man's attack and feels the ground rumble. A car comes up under him making him fly up and hit the ground hard. A second car comes through the ground hitting Wolverine right on his back and has him fall onto some loose rubble. He falls through the rubble trying to get a grip to stay on the roof but falls onto the ground of the next floor. He lands on his feet and looks straight at his opponent who pushes a car right at Logan trapping the man between it and a support beam of the parking garage. "One should fall by the other's hand. Our destiny, we can't change it."

Wolverine tries pushing the car out of the hold his opponent has put him in and says, "I didn't know you went for that… philosophy mumbo jumbo."

"Hey hairball, I got you destiny right here." Cyclops yells sending an energy blast from his visor.

The man turns his head just in time for the blast to hit him in the chest. He flies back and crashes into a van while Wolverine pushes the car away getting free from his entrapment. Nightcrawler runs and teleports right in front of the man preparing to attack, but he crashes onto the man's chest allowing him to fall to the floor with a thud. "Typical." Nightcrawler mutters discouragingly.

The man reaches down to grab Nightcrawler but was tackled by Wolverine sliding right into the elevator. The man kicks Wolverine out of the elevator and closes it behind him seeing Wolverine coming at him. Wolverine claws his way through the elevator doors making a big hole but was too late as the elevator starts moving down with the man saying, "The taste of things to come Wolverine." The group watches the elevator drop to the bottom floor deciding to let the guy leave.

"Hah, ve showed him. We are ze X-men." Nightcrawler says crossing his arms in victory.

Wolverine turns his attention to the two and say, "I don't fight your battles. So, don't fight mine." He walks away leaving the two confused on why he did not appreciate the help.

"Ah, he loves us." Kurt says smiling at Scott.

"Oh yeah, big time." Cyclops says sarcastically crossing his arms.

"Are you certain she will meet you here?" Jean asks as she watches Danny stare at the school waiting for Kitty to show up.

"I'm certain she will." Danny answers truthfully. He glances back at Jean and asks, "What is the Professor doing right now?"

"He's getting Kitty's parents since I told him that Lance might do something bad to Kitty because of us interfering." Jean explains getting Danny to sigh.

"You got to love being a mutant." Danny remarks sarcastically. He sees Kitty walk out of the building and mutters, "You better go. We don't need to scare her off before we get her to join the institute."

Jean nods her head and walks away heading to Professor Xavier. You be careful Danny.

Aren't I always careful? Don't answer that. Danny hears Jean giggle in his mind and shakes his head hating how he walked into that. He watches Kitty as she looks around the area and stops when her eyes land on him. He smiles and waves at her. He notices her nervous smile and frowns when he sees the worry in her eyes. 'Why do I get the feeling that something bad is about to happen?'

Kitty walks up to Danny and says, "There's something you need to know."

"What's going on?" Danny asks curiously.

"It's Lance. He's another person who goes here with powers, and he's threatening to destroy the school unless I do what he wants." Kitty explains fearing what could happen even though she told Danny the truth.

"Why am I not surprised this came up?" Danny mutters bitterly.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I'll explain later." Danny tells her deciding that she does not need to know about the negative parts of being a mutant. "When are you supposed to meet him?"

"I'm supposed to meet him in a few minutes."

Danny runs his right hand through his hair and sighs, "I guess there's only one thing we can do."

"What are we going to do?"

"You're going to learn how to go through things." He tells her simply.

Kitty puts her hands up in surprise. "Whoa, how can I learn in such a short time? I barely know how to use my powers."

"Exactly, you can faze through things, and unlike me, you can do it without anyone knowing that your powers are active."

"I-I-I'm not sure about this."

Danny gives her an assuring smile. "Don't worry about anything. All you must do is keep an eye on him. I'll take care of the rest."

"I wouldn't bother about it." A guy says getting the two to turn their attention to Lance as he walks up to them with an evil grin. "I'm just going to say this once. You leave Kitty with me, and no one will get hurt."

"You sure need to work on your wording, because Kitty is not going to join a school punk like you." Danny says getting in front of Kitty.

Lance chuckles, "What are you going to do then? Are you going to attack me while being invisible? I saw that power, and it isn't going to do anything to help you against me."

"It doesn't have to." Danny makes his right hand glow green along with his eyes and asks, "Do you believe in ghosts?"

Lance raises an eyebrow at the sudden question. "What does that have to do with anything? Ghosts aren't…"

Danny blasts his energy right at Lance and smirks as Lance flies back a few feet into a tree behind him. "Allow me to show you what my real abilities are." Danny says as white rings appear around his waist.

Kitty's eyes widen in surprise as the rings appeared around Danny's waist. She watches as they go around his body making his original clothes disappear with a black jumpsuit, white gloves, and white boots. She looks up to see that Danny's hair was now white instead of black and that his eyes were glowing green instead of being their usual blue. 'How powerful is he?' She thinks as she looks at him in a new light.

Lance looks angrily at Danny and puts his hands out wanting to shake the ground around Danny's feet. "I'm not going to be beaten by some guy who can transform trying to look cool!"

"Who ever said I was trying to look cool?" Danny asks sarcastically. He moves a few feet up into the air getting Lance to stop his attack and stare at Danny in surprise. "I just happen to have a lot of power."

Lance turns around and runs off knowing that the person in front of him was someone on a different level of power. He runs off in the distance thinking, 'I'm screwed!'

"I might have overdone it." Danny mutters as he watches leave his vision. 'I wasn't expecting him to run off, but I'll take it.'

Kitty smiles when she sees Lance run off but frowns when she hears something falling behind her. She turns around to see the school's theater crumbling. "Danny, why is the theater breaking down?" She asks him.

Danny glances at the school and sighs, "He got the last laugh." He and Kitty watch the building crumble in surprise while Lance watches it fall from a distance.

"I might not be able to fight you one-on-one, but I did what I warned Kitty about if she didn't do what I told her to. I'll take that as a win." Lance grins in victory and turns around to see a woman standing there with her left hand on her hip. "Who are you?"

The woman chuckles, "You could call me your recruiter since you did destroy your chances at this school." Lance watches as the woman transforms into a blue skin woman with red hair. "My name is Mystique, and I have much to teach you my young Avalanche."

"The school is partly destroyed, Lance got away, and Kitty has joined us here at the institute." Danny summarizes as he sits down on the couch next to Kurt. "I don't know about you Kurt, but recruitment missions are never as easy as they sound."

"Says da guy who vent wizout me." Kurt replies with a small grin. "Also, zis Kitty, do you zink she vould be interested in me?"

"I doubt it." Danny answers with no hesitation getting Kurt to blink in surprise. "She's not your kind."

"I beg to differ. I am a…you're really funny." Kurt mutters grumpily when he realizes what Danny meant.

Danny grins back at Kurt shrugging in response. "Eh, after she warms up to you she might be interested, but you better not get your hopes up."

"I'll get my hopes up as much as I vant to. I'm going to go see her right now and introduce myself." Kurt teleports away leaving Danny alone in the living room.

"He's doomed to fail." Scott says as he walks into the living room.

"I don't doubt it. It's almost like you and your car." Danny jokes.

"Ha ha, it's not my fault a bike crashed on top of it." Scott mutters angrily. He shakes his head deciding to put the incident behind him. "Anyway, what do you think happened to the other mutant?"

"Don't know. Don't care. If I do see him try to threaten one of us again, he'll be in for a round of pain."

"Then you'll have us back you up." Scott says getting Danny to give Scott a raised eyebrow. "X-men have to stick together."

"AH! Who are you and why are you in my room?!"

Danny and Scott look up at the ceiling then back at each other. "Unless it is Kurt trying to pick up a girl." Danny remarks.

"Agreed."

Ah, now this is looking way better than it was when I did rewrite it the first time. If you read this chapter for the first time, then please be gentle for the next few chapters since my writing did not improve until a few months ago.

Kitty has officially joined, and Kurt has already gotten rejected. Danny learns that it is way more complicated to recruit someone to join the institute. Wolverine fights Sabretooth for the first time, and Scott and Kurt get some hands-on experience.

I hoped you guys enjoy the chapter and the rest of the story. R&R
