Hello, chapter 3's rewrite has made it here for you guys to read, and it has been majorly improved from last time. The beginning will seem the same since it is a crucial part with the episode for obvious reasons. I do not own anything in this story.
Out in the country there was a party going on at a small fast food restaurant. Staying away from the party and being on the deck of the restaurant was a brown-haired girl with a white stripe on her front bangs wearing green and black long sleeve shirt and pants. She looks at the party then turns around leaning on the railing bored out of her mind. She sighs and closes her eyes. "Body-snatchers that is the only explanation man." The dark-haired jock tells his blond-haired friend. The blond guy sees the girl leaning on the ledge and stares at her making it known that he has a crush on her. "My good buddy Cody is now a pod person. Gone in an evening from bad to sad, flame to lame. Nurse, he's coded! Personality Paddles, stat!"
Cody moves out of his friend's grip and says, "Oh, come on. I'm just, you know, picking my moment. Taking it slow."
"Cody, I've seen glaciers move faster than you. There she is. The girl you've been staring at all week. Please tell me you at least know her name." He turns to look at the girl then moves his eyes back at Cody who shrugs with a sheepish grin. Cody's friend hits his forehead saying, "You lame-o! This ends now! Come on!" He grabs Cody and brings him outside to talk to the girl.
The girl hears them walking towards her and turns around asking, "Can ah help you?"
Cody smiles nervously and rubs the back of his neck. "Uh...dance. I mean, would you like to? With me that is together..." Cody asks stumbling over his words
"Ah'm really just hanging out here and..." She notices Cody getting upset and sighs deciding that it would not hurt to give the man a benefit of the doubt. "Aw, hey, why not? After all, where is the harm in one dance?" The girl walks to the building with Cody smiling in relief. He walks after her and high-fives his best friend as they head inside the building.
In a one-story house, a woman is sitting in her house waiting for her daughter to return when her mutant power gives her a vision of Cody about to grab the girl who was lying on the floor. "No! Don't touch him! Oh, my dear child!" The woman says fearing what will be happening to the girl she has been protecting people from for the past few years.
Inside the restaurant, the girl and Cody are having a good time dancing together when Cody's friend whispers, "Get closer. Make your move." Cody's friend gives Cody a little shove which accidentally makes Cody fall right on top of the girl.
Cody gets up while the girls gets up on her knees and says, "Hey, I'm sorry." He reaches down and grabs her arm wanting to help her back up but feels something happening to him just as he makes contact.
Cody and the girl feel something weird happen at the touch, and Cody falls to the ground while the girl rubs her head from the sudden flash of memories. "My head. All these images." She gets up and sees Cody passed out on the floor with his eyes wide open. "What's happening to me? What am I? Who am I?" She asks trying to understand what was going on with her.
Cody's friend leans down and starts shaking Cody. "Cody? Cody! What's wrong?" He turns to the girl asking, "What did you do to him?"
The teen runs away and pushes herself through the guy trying to block her from leaving. "Whoa, I thought only Cody had moves like that." The guy comments surprised that she pushed past him just like his football buddy.
Back at the house the blind woman was on the phone talking to someone important. "That's not what I said. I see pathways, probabilities. I predicted what form her mutant powers would take, not when they would manifest. Yeah, I did take precautions. The phony skin condition, the way she dressed, but she's a teenage girl. I couldn't keep her in isolation." She sighs, "Of course you're coming. I know. And the others? Xavier's team? They're coming too."
The woman hangs up the phone and sighs, "Why would the master of time come visit a woman like me?"
"Now Destiny, you should know why I'm here." The man says as he walks out of the shadows.
Destiny leans back on her chair and sighs, "I'm finally going to see him. I'm going to see the guy who makes a difference for her."
"I wouldn't say 'see.'"
"You know what I mean Clockwork!" Destiny yells gritting her teeth. "Your power can do so much for our kind, yet you rather watch people and stay away from most of our kind."
"Ah, the abuse of power is such a strong suit for so many people who cannot understand the situation." Clockwork says giving Destiny a smile.
"Don't you start talking in puzzles Clockwork. I'm a bit on edge with what is happening to my daughter."
Clockwork chuckles, "Ah Destiny, you should know that she's in good hands."
Destiny grits her teeth knowing that Clockwork was getting on her nerves. "Will she be happy?"
"Yes."
Destiny sighs, "I guess that is all I can ask for then."
Logan, covered in black stealth clothes and face mask, moves through the vents and exits them landing on the floor. He sniffs around the area and catches a scent when someone says, "Impressive, you got past the automated defenses by using the air vents, but you won't get past me." Storm walks out into the open and makes the wind blow hard into the room, but Logan jumps back into the air vents putting the vent back into place. Storm looks up at the vents getting Storm to smile. "Testing me, Hmm? Alright then, it's time to remember why they call me Storm!" She makes clouds appear above the building and has it rain into the vents getting the water to rush through them straight towards Logan.
He looks back just in time for the water to come at him. 'Ororo is really enjoying this.' The water pushes him through the vents and blasts him out into the Danger Room. 'Let's give those kids a good show.'
"You looked a little flushed, and the forecast isn't good." Logan gets on his feet and looks up to see Storm looking down at him from the control room. He jumps just for the room to shoot ice foam at him basting him straight to the wall away from the control room.
Logan lands on the ground and gets up on his feet as the ice hardens around him. "Now that was cold." He tells her as he breaks out of the ice.
"I'm just warming up." She replies pressing a button allowing a laser gun to come out of the wall below the control room.
Logan jumps and pulls his metal claws out as the gun starts shooting at him. He lands on top of the gun and sticks both of his claws into the gun hitting the electrical wires. The electricity flows through his body with the gun exploding a couple seconds later blasting Logan back to the wall. Logan stops from hitting the wall by landing on his feet and looks up at Storm with a serious expression ignoring the destroyed pieces of fabric on his body. "Got to connect first. Got any more party tricks?" He asks when a machine activates behind him. He turns around to see a big machine with three metal claws that are twirling popping out of a large circular device. He ducks just as the first claw goes by him. He jumps over the second claw and moves back avoiding the last claw. He jumps at the machine ducking under the claws and sticks his claw into the machine slicing the mechanism.
"Stop! It is, at the moment, as much as we can afford, Wolverine." Xavier says as the machine comes to a stop.
Wolverine takes off his mask saying, "Hey, when I give a demo, I give a demo."
Scott looks out at the Danger Room not really sure if Logan's demonstration was an actual demonstration. "Is that demo as in demolish or demonstration? What was the point?" He asks turning his attention to Ororo as she puts in the commands to have the Danger Room's security testing phase turned off.
"The point, young cyclops, was to teach you about finding weak points in sophisticated security systems." Storm says as she moves to another panel to finish switching the security in the Danger Room.
"Heh, you have to get the memo Scott. I figured that out just by watching Logan do that." Danny says giving Scott a cocky grin. "Plus, out of all everyone, I'm the only one who can go through every security undetected. Maybe I should give it a go."
"Yeah right, Ghost. The moment we let you do a security breach alone will be the time we get desperate not to mention highly unlikely." Wolverine says as he enters the control room.
Kurt, who is hanging off a pipe with his tail while holding a bowl of popcorn, looks over at Logan. "Zat was tight. I give it two thumbs up." Kurt says dropping his popcorn onto the floor to give Logan two thumbs-up. Jean rolls her eyes at Kurt's way to give Logan a good job.
"I think I can handle it well. I am the mutant of the supernatural." Danny says giving a knowing grin at Wolverine.
"Don't push your luck kid." Logan warns Danny getting him to sigh in defeat. "The vents were easily breached. Gonna need to fix that. Maybe electrify them or install poisonous gas sprayers." Logan suggests as he looks up at the video feed that Storm was organizing on the screen.
"Wolverine..." Storm says with some edge in her voice.
Logan crosses his arms and relents on his suggestion. "All right, all right, knock out gas, then."
Kitty shivers, "Is it just me or is anyone else seriously creeped by all this?" Everyone stares at her minus Danny who was thinking of ways that he could pull off a security heist. "Oh, right. It's just me? Great." She mutters crossing her arms.
Kurt waves at Kitty saying, "Relax Kitty. You'll be fine." He teleports himself right next to her giving her a genuine smile. "We're right beside you." He teleports to the other side of Kitty lying on his back and holding the popcorn with his tail. "Popcorn?" He offers her with a smile noticing her quick reaction when she moves away from him. Kurt frowns at her reaction realizing that she was not use to mutant powers. "Whoops. Heh heh sorry." He jumps off the table offering a sincere smile. "Next time I'll honk before I 'port."
"Whatever." Kitty crosses her arms and looks away still feeling uneasy of her new status. "Uh guys if it is no biggie to you, I'm going to like drop out." She says phasing through the floor leaving the others to worry about her state of mind.
"And Kurt strikes out again." Danny says making everyone look at him. "What? He keeps on trying to get her to notice him in a different way. I mean, sure she still needs to get used to everything, but Kurt isn't really lucky when it comes to charming the ladies."
"Sure make a joke out of it." Kurt mutters shaking his head. "At least she accepts you."
Danny raises an eyebrow, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Kurt sits back on the counter and grabs a handful of popcorn. "If you seriously don't get vhat I mean, den you are clueless dude." Kurt stuffs the popcorn into his mouth getting Jean to smirk.
"Now Kurt, you can't blame all of it on Danny." Jean says getting Kurt to look confused.
"Yeah, it's not Danny's fault he's dense." Scott says pointing his thumb back at Danny.
"I'm not dense." Danny mutters in frustration not seeing why they are picking on him.
"X-men we have an emergency." Xavier says as he enters the control room from the elevator. "Scott, get the Blackbird ready to launch and since it's a weekend assemble the whole team."
"Yes sir, what's the mission?" Scott asks wanting to know what the team is going to get themselves into.
"Cerebro has detected a new mutant in Caldecott County, Mississippi. My mental impressions from the scene indicate a highly disturbed individual. Our mutant is a danger to herself and possibly others as well." Xavier explains while the girl runs through the city completely confused as to what was going on.
She runs onto the street and stops when she sees a car coming at her. The man swerves the car away and crashes into the lamp posts. "Hey! What are you nuts? Crazy kid!" The car driver yells as she runs from the scene.
"X-men, we have a Rogue." Xavier warns them.
"That's not good." Danny mutters.
"We'll go suit up Professor." Scott says before leaving through the elevator with Jean.
"Do you happen to know what our mutant's powers are?" Danny asks Charles Xavier.
"Unfortunately, I do not, but what I do know is that she is extremely scared and confused which means that we got no time to waste."
Charles, Logan, and Ororo look at Kurt who dumps the rest of the popcorn into his mouth. He swallows the food and turns his head to see the three adults staring at him. "Vhat?" Kurt asks feeling confused on why they were looking at him.
"You're supposed to be getting suited up for the mission." Logan says giving Kurt a dangerous look.
"Oh, my bad, I'll go get ready zen." Kurt teleports out of the control room leaving the three adults and Danny.
"That means you too Ghosty."
Danny shrugs, "Yeah, yeah, I'm going." He turns intangible and phases through the floor crossing his arms over his chest. 'You would think that they would remember that my uniform is on my other half.'
Everyone boards the Blackbird with Kurt in the driver's seat. Scott starts the Blackbird up, and Kurt flies the jet out of the hanger to their destination in Mississippi. "Stealth mode is stable. Leveling off at 10,000 feet." Kurt says after having the Blackbird in the air for a few minutes.
"Steady. Now hold it right there and... you've got it." Scott says giving Kurt a nod of approval. "Nice job Kurt. You'll make a pilot yet"
"Zanks." Kurt says leaning back on his chair grabbing the steering wheel with his feet.
"Or maybe not." Scott mutters not liking the idea of Kurt putting his feet on the steering wheel. He shakes his head deciding that it was not important to dwell on. "I logged our flight plan with the FAA. We're clear through to Jackson. We'll take the van from there." He turns to Charles Xavier wanting to hear what Charles would say.
Xavier smiles, "Good. You're picking up logistics quickly, Scott."
"Show off." Danny mutters rolling his eyes at Scott's behavior.
Kitty leans forward on her chair to talk to Jean and whispers, "Scott seems so, like together. So cool, and he's kind of cute." She leans onto her hand to get a good look at Scott.
"Cute? Uh, stiff maybe. Exactly definitely, but..." Jean looks at Scott from a specific angle and mutters, "Hmm, you know from a certain angle."
"But Danny has such a way with danger." Kitty says directing Jean's attention from Scott to Danny. "It's like he'll risk his life to do anything even if it kills him." Kitty looks at Danny with a curious look in her eyes. "He risked his life to save me, and it makes me wonder what kind of person he will be as a boyfriend."
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves." Jean says not sure why Kitty was thinking like this. "Sure, Danny did save your life, but you need to remember that does not make anyone boyfriend material."
"True, but it is cute that he acts oblivious to me flirting." Kitty gives Danny a flirtatious smile.
'That's not an act.' Jean, Scott, Logan, and Ororo think.
"Why do you believe he's acting?" Jean asks curiously.
"You're, like, joking right?" Kitty asks raising an eyebrow. "He risked his life to protect me from Lance. He made me feel safe, and his power is so incredible. It makes me wonder what he plans to do with that kind of power."
'He probably didn't think about the risks to begin with.' Logan thinks chuckling softly at Danny's protective nature. 'He's a natural protector.'
"A risk taker? I'm not so sure about that, but he does have a protective nature for his friends."
"You know what I mean." Kitty remarks leaning closer to the older teen. "He feels like the perfect boyfriend that I want."
Kurt raises an eyebrow at that statement. 'How can Danny catch her attention so easily?' He wonders feeling a little upset with the situation. 'He risked…that's it.' Kurt smirks and teleports out onto the nose of the Blackbird.
Scott looks at the chair then outside in surprise while Danny sighs. "That idiot." He mutters shaking his head at Kurt's stupidity.
Kurt waves at everyone with a big grin on his face feeling that he was making a big accomplishment. The wind and the movement of the jet make Kurt lose his balance and fly straight to the window. He teleports into the Blackbird and crashes right onto Kitty. "Kurt strikes out once again with a crash to the girl he finds cute." Danny mutters with a small chuckle escaping his lips.
Kitty pushes Kurt off her getting upset with him. Kurt gets on his feet and tries to apologize, but Kitty give him the cold shoulder. "Just like stay away from me." Kitty gets off her seat and walks to the front of the Blackbird.
"Kids." Logan mutters hating the fact that these were people that he needs to train.
"What would you expect from us? You used to be our age at one point." Danny points out making Logan to grunt in agreement but says nothing back to further Danny's point.
A jet lands at the airport and stops a small distance from a limo where Destiny was leaning against waiting for her friend. Raven 'Mystique' Darkholme walks off the plane to see Destiny enter the limo. Mystique walks down the steps and follows her friend into the limo. "You made good time Raven." Destiny says as the door shuts behind Mystique.
"Our organization's mysterious founder has certain resources, Irene." Mystique says transforming herself to her original blue skinned form. "What happened? I left the girl in what I thought was your safekeeping."
"At the school dance, her mutant powers manifested, and she accidentally made physical contact with a local boy." Destiny tells her friend.
"Absorbing his memories and physical abilities. Wonderful. We keep her hidden away in this backwater for the better part of five years, and in five minutes it all falls apart." She looks at Destiny. "We cannot lose her, especially not to Xavier. She possesses the potential for limitless power." She backs away from her. "You can see the future, Irene. Where would she go?"
"Home...or what she thinks is home."
Danny stands invisibly outside the closet waiting for his friend to finish changing her clothes. Jean, could you finish changing your clothes and get to the mission. I doubt the others can stay waiting outside. Danny tells her through telepathy.
I'm almost done.
Just hurry it up. Danny nods but stops when his body stiffens when a shiver goes up his spine and a puff of blue smoke comes out of his mouth. He fails to notice the blue smoke coming from his mouth, but he turns his attention to the feeling that he has something to do. He walks away forgetting the reason why he was at the hospital and heads to his destination.
Jean walks out of the closet and looks around noticing that Danny was nowhere to be seen. Ok Danny let's go talk with Cody and find out where this Rogue is. She waits for him to reply but gets making her feel a little confused. Danny…Danny, where are you? She gets no reply and starts worrying as to why he was not answering. Professor, Danny isn't replying back telepathically to me.
That is odd, but it isn't the first time. I'll see if I can get him. You continue on trying to go through Cody's mind and finding out where Rogue is. Charles tells her before looking at Kurt. "Nightcrawler, do you have your phone on you?"
"Yeah, why do you ask?" Nightcrawler asks curiously.
"Danny isn't answering Jean's telepathy, and that is a little worrying." Charles puts his hands on his chin in thought.
"Have you tried contacting him yourself?" Wolverine asks.
"I would, but if Jean can't get a reply from Danny, what are the chances that I might be able to." Charles summarizes while Nightcrawler reaches into his suit to grab his phone.
"Don't bother. He left his phone in my car again." Cyclops says getting Nightcrawler to stop.
Wolverine looks back at Cyclops. "Why didn't you grab it and give it to him?" He asks with a little edge in his voice.
"He leaves it in the car, so he won't forget to bring it to school." Cyclops answers truthfully shrugging it off. "Danny tends to leave it behind without realizing it since he barely uses it to begin with."
Logan sighs knowing that Cyclops was not wrong. "Well, at least he has a good reason." Logan mutters accepting the excuse. "Which reminds me; we need to get him his own set of wheels."
"Why do we need to do that?" Cyclops asks curiously raising an eyebrow at Wolverine.
"It will help him learn responsibility, and Phantom wants to get a truck." Wolverine say smirking at the idea. "The kid has a good idea for a good first set of wheels, and it would help him learn from this, so it doesn't happen again."
"Oh, can I come and help him pick out his ride?" Kurt asks excitingly.
"We'll see." Wolverine says smiling at the idea of getting Phantom his own set of wheels.
"That doesn't seem to help with our current situation with Daniel, Logan. It only will complicate things." Charles reminds his friend.
"Well, he'll probably take care of it a lot more than Cyclops does with his car." Wolverine shrugs while Cyclops shakes his head muttering about how it wasn't his fault that his car wrecked.
"How are we going to get in contact with Danny then?" Kitty asks curiously looking at Xavier then at Logan.
Charles sighs, "Truly, I don't know. Daniel has been slowly developing a mental block, but I doubt he even realizes it. I have been meaning to talk to him about it, but it is or was only a minor problem until now."
"Zat doesn't sound good." Nightcrawler says hoping nothing bad would happen to his friend.
"We'll just have to trust Daniel's judgement right now. He only wonders off if it is important." Charles tells them making everyone frown.
"This mission might become pretty bad if he wondered off already." Cyclops mutters making the Kurt and Kitty gulp at the thought.
The limo with Mystique and Destiny pulls up to the house where the teen girl was, and Destiny asks, "Now what? You won't hurt her, will you?" She puts a hand on Mystique's shoulder. "After all Raven she's your..."
"I know, Irene. I know." Mystique says making Destiny pull her hand off Mystique's shoulder. "Trust me; she will come to us willingly, given the right incentive." She transforms into Wolverine smirking at the plan forming in her mind.
The brown-haired girl with a white streak in the front looks at the picture in the yearbook trying to understand the memories inside her mind. She flips the page and says, "All this is, uh, me...mine." She closes the book and sets it down on the bed as she gets off the bed. She walks up to the mirror as memories of her life and Cody's life were going through her mind. "Which me am ah?" She angrily pushes all the trophies and pictures off the dresser feeling frustrated with her mind. She hears the door slam open and turns her head to see 'Wolverine' standing there. "Who-who are you, and what do you want?"
"You girlie...I want you!" The claws come out of 'his' hands, and 'he' jumps at the girl swinging his foot at her. She dodges the kick coming at her and watches 'Wolverine' crash through the closet. "Stand still, and I'll make it quick." Mystique says coming out of the closet still as Wolverine. "You're dealing with the X-men now, and you ain't got a chance."
The girl picks up a board and asks, "X-men? Ah don't understand. Ah just want yah to leave me alone!" She hits 'him' with the board and runs out of the room. 'He' gets up and goes after her.
She runs down the stairs and hears a howl but keeps running away not wanting to get hurt by 'Wolverine.' 'Wolverine' get to the top of the stairs and says, "One more turn of the screw," Mystique jumps off the stairs and lands on the ground transforming back to her original look then into Storm, "and you'll come running into my arms."
"Why does that sound so wrong in so many ways?" Someone says making 'Storm' look around confused.
"Who's there?" 'Storm' asks narrowing her eyebrows.
"Oh, you know…I'm just your favorite mutant protector." The voice says before blasting 'Storm' to the other side of the building. "I would love to stay and chat, but I got a mutant to protect."
'Storm' gets back on her feet and mutters, "Xavier, who have you brought with you this time?"
In an alley, Wolverine leads Nightcrawler and Shadowcat around hoping to find their rogue mutant. "So does this, like, bite or what?" Kitty asks unsure of what to say.
"The prof says the girl's mind is confused and difficult to pinpoint." Wolverine says then looks behind a dumpster. "So keep looking." He looks inside the dumpster while the other two are just staring at him a little scared.
"Now I wish someone would have gone with Danny. He's lucky to work by himself." Shadowcat whispers to Nightcrawler.
"I totally agree wid you..." He starts to agree when he sees Wolverine sniffing. "Was? Got a scent?"
Wolverine glances at Nightcrawler and says, "Yeah, I smell fear."
Danny flies out the back door staying invisible and watches the girl climb over the fence. 'Better get to work.' Danny thinks as he flies up to see where the girl will go
The girl lands on the ground and looks up to find her caretaker standing there. "Rogue, it's me Irene. Try to remember." Irene says wanting to get her surrogate daughter to remember who she was.
"Uh, who? Wait...Irene. Yes, but...Ah'm so confused." Rogue puts her hand to her head trying to put her memories together. She starts shaking her head. "Strange thoughts in my head...people chasing me."
"Easy, easy honey. The police are coming. The X-men will not risk a confrontation." Danny watches the conversation above the two and turns his head to see his friends coming down the alley.
"Just great, this girl is in trouble, and I don't have time to warn the others." He whispers knowing that if he reveals himself that getting Rogue on their side will fail.
"The X-men?" Rogue asks confused on what Irene meant.
Irene stretches out her hand for Rogue to grab. "Yes. Mutant hunters, now hurry! I have a friend who can help you. I'll take you to her."
Rogue grabs Irene's hand saying, "Ah don't know. All this is happening so fast. Ah don't..." She turns her head to see Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Shadowcat running towards them from the alley. "It's him!" Rogue gasps in fear looking directly at Wolverine. "The one who attacked me. Run Irene run!" Rogue runs off losing one of her gloves in Irene's hand.
The three mutants run after her. "That's got to be her." Wolverine tells them as they run past Irene.
"Please let me be." Rogue remarks as she jumps over the fence. Danny takes his chance and flies down to go after her. He notices Kurt stopping Wolverine and continues flying after her. Danny lands on the ground behind her getting her to say, "Ah just want to be..." She turns around and sees no one. "What?" She looks around carefully when Danny makes himself visible.
"Hi."
"Ah!" Rogue jumps back in surprise by Danny's sudden appearance.
Danny's eyes widen immediately realizing what he just did. "Ah, sorry, forgot that you're all new to this."
"Who are you?" Rogue asks taking a couple steps back in fear.
"Danny Fenton, a human born with special abilities just like your own." Danny jokes getting Rogue to raise an eyebrow not sure what she should say. "That get your attention?"
"Yah appearing out of nowhere got mah attention." Rogue remarks getting Danny to chuckle.
"Yeah, you got me there."
She keeps her guard up planning to run from him as she asks, "What do you want?"
Danny scratches the back of his head. "To be honest my friends and I just want to help you make a right decision. You have a powerful gift, and if you keep on running and touch random people you will be more confused than you were. I just want to help you not to be confused." He says smiling nervously.
"Are you a part of the mutant hunters?" Rogue asks narrowing her eyebrows at him.
Danny raises an eyebrow. "I never heard anything about mutant hunters."
She calms down a bit and lowers her suspicion on the white-haired teen. "Why do you care then?"
"I also have special powers." He made a small green ball be created in the palm of his hand. "My team and I are known for taking people in that need help understanding their powers." Rogue looks at the green ball of ghost energy not sure what she should say. "I know that you are confused, but my friends can help you understand everything going on."
"Ah don't know." Rogue mutters as Kurt teleports behind Rogue in his human disguise and sees Danny talking to Rogue. "Ah know that ah need help, but ah'm being chased down by some people. They call themselves the X-men."
Danny glances at Kurt who nods his head when he sees the look in Danny's eyes. "The X-men are not bad."
"Why should Ah believe you?"
"Ve only want to help not hunt you down." Kurt says getting Rogue to gasp in surprise.
Rogue quickly turns around and widens her eyes at Kurt. "How did yah get behind meh?" Rogue asks unconsciously moving a bit closer to Danny.
"I'm a teleporter." Kurt says teleporting to the swings making her sigh a bit in relief at the answer. "I can teleport to any place I can think of if I can see it."
"Ok…" She turns her attention back to Danny and asks, "How can I be sure I can trust you guys?"
"If you are not sure right now, then you don't have to." Danny says making Kurt raise an eyebrow at him. "All that would matter is putting your trust in the right people."
"Now zat is something we both agree to." Kurt remarks giving Rogue a genuine smile.
"Half pint, I'll show him." Kitty mutters as she phases through the fence. She looks at Rogue not noticing that Danny and Kurt were getting through talking to her. "She doesn't look that tough to me." She runs straight at Rogue and tackles her to the ground catching both guys by surprise.
"Kitty no!" Kurt yells at Kitty's sudden involvement. Rogue pushes Kitty off her and gets onto her feet to have Kurt grab her wanting to calm her down before she will lose control. Rogue struggles in Kurt's hands and hits his watch trying to get him to let go, but her fist causes the watch to malfunction and turn Kurt back to his normal form.
"Kurt, let go!" Danny yells fearing what is about to happen but is too late.
Rogue gasps and pushes his face with her bare hand wanting to get him away from her but is unaware that she is absorbing Kurt's energy. Kurt lets go from the sudden drain, and Rogue takes a few steps back from the sudden rush of new memories. She gasps and teleports herself out of the mess in just a few seconds of everything that just happened.
Danny grabs Kurt's body and sets him down on the ground next to Kitty who recovers from Rogue pushing her and turns her head to see Kurt's eye closed. "Kurt?" She asks worryingly.
"He just had his energy drained." Danny says getting her to gasp in surprise.
"Will he be ok?"
Danny glances at Kitty and gets back on his feet. "I don't know." He turns his back to them and says, "Keep an eye on him. Hopefully, this should only last for a few minutes."
"Danny, I…"
"Don't try to apologize to me." He interrupts getting her to lower her head. "I'm not the one who got hurt from your decision." He flies off leaving Kitty alone with an unconscious Kurt.
Kitty looks at Kurt's unconscious form. 'I screwed up, and Kurt paid the price.' She thinks closing her eyes. "I'm so sorry." She mutters sadly hoping Kurt wouldn't hold her against what she has done.
Rogue appears at the cemetery landing on her feet and is surprised by the sudden change. "What just happened?" She asks trying to regain her thoughts. "Where am I? And ich verstehen deutscher (A/N still no clue if that is spelled right.) I can speak German?" She puts her hand to her throat surprised that she spoke a language that she has never learned before. "The fuzzy one...Kurt's his name. I'm him. Like I was Cody. I think I'm catching on now." She looks at her hands then looks around. "But how did I?" She teleports onto a roof of one of the small buildings in the graveyard. She closes her eyes at the sudden movement and teleports multiple times across the graveyard. She starts laughing as she enjoys the idea of teleporting to multiple part until she falls when she appears on a bench that brakes beneath her. She lowers her head and sighs, "When is this all going to end?"
"I'm afraid it might not end." Rogue looks up to see Danny standing a few feet away from her.
"What do yah mean?"
"We're humans born with special abilities, and I have never met someone who could make us lose our powers. Normal humans don't even know we exist." Danny runs his hand through his hair. "Truthfully, we didn't know we existed until we got our powers. Living in fear is not fun for anyone."
Danny reaches his gloved hand out, and Rogue accepts it allowing him to pull her back up onto her feet. "Why do yah have to live in fear?" She asks cautiously.
Danny sighs, "My parents rejected me for who I am. They didn't like the fact that I had powers, and my father attacked me for it." Rogue gasps in surprise. "I know, but I was found by those who were like me, and we became like a big family to each other."
"Is it nice there?"
Danny nods his head. "It is, and I know you'll enjoy being there." Danny puts his hand on his chin when a thought came to mind. "Just out of curiosity, was that your mother you were talking to before you ran off into someone's yard?"
Rogue nods, "Yeah, well…Ah always thought she was mah mother."
Danny nods and turns his back to her. "I'll go talk with her real quick. I would have you come with me, but I have a gut feeling something bad could happen if you do."
"Don't be long." Danny smiles warmly at her before flying off leaving her alone.
Danny flies across the sky and starts looking for something familiar that will allow him to find Irene. His gaze stops on a familiar vehicle where Irene was leaning against waiting for Mystique to return with her daughter. Danny lands on the ground a few feet in front of the woman and says, "I'm guessing you're Rogue's mother."
Irene hears Danny and sighs not wanting to have a conversation with him. "Is that what Xavier is calling her?" She asks deciding to make sure Danny does not ask the questions she does not want to answer.
Danny shrugs, "Eh, we don't know her real name, and I doubt she would be willing to give it to anyone after this situation is over."
Irene sighs seeing no point in arguing. "I can't argue to that, but how did you find me?"
Danny points up at the sky not realizing the woman was blind. "I flew here. It also help that I saw you talking with Rogue earlier."
"What do you want then?"
"Who is after her?" Danny asks narrowing his eyebrows.
"I don't know…"
"Yes, you do." Danny interrupts getting her anger to grow. "I'm not an idiot. You called my team a group of mutant hunters. I wouldn't be surprised that you guys work together.
"Why should I have to tell you anything?" Destiny counters narrowing her eyebrows.
Danny balls his hands up and mutters, "Really should have thought this one through."
"You should have. Now if all you're going to do is bug me, I am waiting for my friend to arrive, and you have nothing to do with it."
"Fine, but I got one more question. What is your reason for you guys to get mutants to join for your team?"
"That is none of your business." Destiny remarks not liking that Phantom was asking personal questions.
Danny grits his teeth and turns his back to her. "Fine, I'll leave, but I'll tell you one thing. The X-men will stop whatever plans you guys will make, and Danny Fenton will make sure it goes through." He flies off leaving Destiny alone with the limo.
"I already know that you will." Destiny mutters looking up at the direction he was leaving. "And I know who you will become, Phantom."
Rogue shakes her head in frustration hating the fact that she does not feel like she can trust anyone. She holds her breath when she hears someone entering the room. She feels someone tap her shoulder and jumps and spins around in fright. She swings her fist but stops when she realizes she was about to punch Danny. "Sorry, are you okay?" He asks putting both of his hands up fearing that she was going to punch him. 'Nice going Fenton.'
Rogue relaxes at his voice and sighs in relief. "When did yah get back? How did you even find meh?" She asks him quietly.
"You're looking at the guy who can walk through walls, disappear, and fly, but right now, is not a good time to explain what powers I have though." Danny mutters glancing around the area. "What happened?"
They hear 'Cyclops' jump into the room and look at him. "Thought you could escape us, did you? The X-men don't leave loose ends." 'Cyclops' tells her. He knocks over one of the statues and walks over to the two.
"Hey man, I think you need to calm down." Danny fires one of his ecto blasts at 'Cyclops' and watches 'Cyclops' fly back into the wall. Danny flies at Cyclops swinging his fist back but gets kicked right in the chest making him fall onto the ground. Cyclops grabs Danny's jumpsuit and pulls him up turning around to slam Danny into the wall. Danny grunts at the impact and says, "Rogue run."
She watches 'Cyclops' slam Danny onto the wall again getting him to grunt in pain. "What about you?" She asks worried that something bad will happen to him.
Danny shakes his head, "Don't worry about me. Hurry!" Rogue nods reluctantly and runs out the front entrance. Danny phases out of 'Cyclops' grip and kicks the man to away from him. "Now, who are you, and why are you doing this?"
'Cyclops' chuckles and transforms back into her original look. "Now Danny, that's no way for you to act around your superior." Mystique says with a smirk growing on her face.
Danny dusts the dirt off his shoulders. "You, my superior? I find that hard to believe." Danny counters glaring at Mystique.
"Your doubt shows how much you really know." Mystique remarks.
Danny narrows his eyebrows and asks, "Who are you?"
"Xavier never told you about me? I'm shocked, but you can call me, Mystique."
"Mystique…Sounds more like a code name than an actual name." Danny remarks getting Mystique to chuckle.
"At least you catch on quick, but you don't deserve to learn my real name." Mystique transforms into Charles Xavier on his feet. "He always did choose some proper students."
Danny makes his hands glow green and mutters, "Don't you dare try to mess with my mind."
"You can relax, Danny." Mystique turns back to her blue skin look and gives Danny an assuring smile. "I'm not here to fight you."
"No, but you are after Rogue and are trying to confuse her by making us the bad guys." Danny counters getting the woman to chuckle. "Slamming me into the wall does not help prove your words either."
Mystique shrugs, "True, but you X-men don't know when to quit." Suddenly, the wind starts to move past them getting them to look outside. The two mutants look out the window to see Rogue in the air with an uncontrollable storm going on around her. "Well, it looks like I might win after all." Mystique says before transforming into a wolf and running off leaving Danny alone.
Danny retracts his energy and mutters, "We'll see about that." He flies through the building and turns intangible avoiding the debris flying around from the uncontrollable wind. "Rogue! You need to control it!" Danny yells hoping that she can hear him.
"Ah can't!" Rogue yells as Jean gets Scott and Storm out of the water just in time when an electric tower hits the water. "Ah need help!"
Danny grabs Rogue's arm and feels her teleport them to another area. He looks her in the eyes and mutters, "Trust me Rogue. You do have control. You only need to calm down and not let the fear take over your mind."
"Ah'll try." She says taking a calm breath trying to calm her nerves of the storm going on around them. The storm cloud start disappearing, and Danny notices the area around them calming down. He looks back at Rogue who starts floating to the ground with a calm smile on her face. "Thank you." She hugs him which makes him smile.
"I only got one question for you, and I'm certain this will make some sense when I explain it." Rogue moves out of the hug and looks at him in confusion.
Jean lands Scott and an unconscious Ororo safely on the ground. Scott and Jean see the others minus Danny walk up to them. "What do you think happen to the Rogue?" Scott asks Xavier.
"Uhh, she's gone...somewhere. Her mind is a jumble. I can't trace it." Charles says not liking the situation. "But I strongly suspect the hand at work here."
Logan sniffs the air and says, "Mystique. She can change her body but not her scent."
"Then we have to go after her." Kitty says getting ready for a fight.
"There's been enough damage done today, and the girl must come of her own free will or not at all. We must first tend to our own. Let's just hope Danny had more luck talking to her than we did." Xavier tells them as Storm and Nightcrawler start coming back from their unconscious states.
Kurt rubs his head and gets out of Wolverine's arms as he starts to realize what was going on. He looks around saying, "Looks like I missed quite a party." His gaze stops on Kitty, and he notices the giddy look on her face.
"Kurt, you're all right!" Kitty says as she walks up to him happy that he was awake. She catches him as he almost faints onto the ground again and says, "Easy you fuzzy elf, everything is going to be just fine."
He looks at Scott who mutters, "Fuzzy elf?"
The next day Rogue arrives at her school and walks into the principal's office unsure of what to make her situation. Principle Darkholme greets her saying, "Welcome to Bayville High...I'm sure you'll be very happy here...happy and safe."
"Sure, thank you." Rogue says before walking away not trusting Darkholme's words. Rogue exits the school and turns her head to see Danny standing against the wall with his hands in his pockets. "Are yah sure this is a good idea?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest. "Ah don't trust yah team, but Ah'm not exactly a fan of being a spy either."
Danny looks at Rogue and smiles, "No, but I do want to see that smug smirk wiped off her face when she finds out." Rogue walks up to Danny and sighs in defeat. "Plus, even if you did join my team, Mystique would try to manipulate our team into you joining them since you don't trust them."
Rogue sighed, "Ok, Ah'll stay with her for a while, but yah owe meh a date."
Danny removes the glove on Rogue's left hand and intertwines his fingers with her fingers. "I think I can do that sometime."
Rogue stares at their intertwined fingers for a bit then smiles, 'Ah'm glad a friend like him came to help meh.' Rogue thinks happily. The two teens smile at each other before going their separate ways to their teams.
Just to be clear Danny had gotten his powers when he was sixteen not fourteen. I changed the age for a good reason. I'm not telling you guys why though. I also hope you guys enjoy the chapter and the changes put into it. Yep, Rogue is going to spy on the Brotherhood of Evil instead of joining them officially. Charles Xavier is the only one who knows about it too since Danny would have told him about the situation, but he must act like he doesn't know. I hope everyone enjoyed it so far. R&R.
