Here comes part 2 of the upcoming battle against our villain Graviton. I do not own anything in this story.
Nick Fury feels his body getting pulled into the air and grunts in pain at the force that the man in the blue jumpsuit was using to pull him. Fury finds himself staring straight at the man that was freed from his prison and pulls his blaster out ready to pull the trigger. The man moves his finger pushing the gun from Fury's hand getting it to fall into the water. Fury turns his head to see the gun fly away then turns his head glaring at the man with hatred. "What do you want Hall?" Fury asks.
"Oh, I think you know." Hall says putting his arms down to the side. "I want to treat you with the same KINDNESS that you showed me! I'm going to take years off of your life!" He starts using his gravity powers to squeeze Fury's body getting Nick to cry out in pain as his body starts to feel compressed from the force. "On second thought, I'll take them all." Hall squeezes his hand shut forcing the gravity to push harder onto Fury's body. He laughs at seeing Nick Fury's pain and struggle but stops when he hears something in the distance. Hall looks up and sees a hammer fly straight towards him and is unable to defend himself when it hits him straight in the stomach.
Hall loses his concentration getting Nick Fury to fall towards the water along with the prison where his men were boarding the chopper. The hammer flies back towards the man who threw it, and Wasp flies down toward Nick Fury grabbing the back of his jumpsuit. Nick hears a grunt and turns his head saying, "Wasp…"
Jan makes an uneasy face as she tries to keep her hold on Nick Fury to fly him away from the area. "No time for small talk, we got to move." She says as she flies them away from the area. The helicopter gets off the landing pad and flies off just as the prison is about to hit the water. The impact of the prison creates a big ripple that causes a wave to come up near the two adults, but Jan continues flying away from the area glancing behind her to see the wave. 'Wish I had Danny's phasing ability right now.' She thinks as she heads to land while the wave crashes behind them.
Thor flies straight towards the villain and stops when he sees Hall stopping a few feet above him. "Your power is impressive, for a mere mortal. Stand down now, and you may yet walk away from this."
"Fury called me Graviton. Fury…he knows I can control gravity. I can do anything!" Graviton says putting the emphasis on his power. Thor levitates there as he listens to what the man has to say. "I'll crush Fury. I'll crush you; then I'll show the world the power I have!"
"I think not villain." Thor grins at the idea of a good fight. He spins his hammer around and yells, "Have at thee!" He flies straight towards Graviton intending to stop the man from hurting innocent lives.
Wasp gets Fury onto the docks and grows back to her normal size. She walks over to Hank while Fury stares out at the scene in front of him. "Is there something you want to tell us Fury?" Hank asks not really expecting a forward answer.
"Not really." Fury answers before putting his finger on his com link. "Shield command, this is Director Nick Fury. I am declaring an Omega level emergency. Every Shield agent, every Hulk buster unit, the U.S. armed forces, they are all now under my direct control."
Jan worryingly looks at Hank and says, "Wow, Nick Fury is actually worried."
Hanks glances at Jan then looks at Fury feeling curious on who this person is. "Who is he?"
"Dr. Franklin Hall…" Fury answers deciding not to give any more information.
"The physicist?" Hank walks up to Fury hoping to learn more about how it came to this. "No one has heard from him in years not since he joined Shield." He deactivates his helmet allowing his head to be completely free from the metal and for the others to see that he was worried about the man. "What happened to him?"
"That's…"
"It was a lab accident gone wrong." Everyone turns their heads to see Aelita and Danny walking up to them. Aelita stops next to Hank with her right hand on her hip while Danny stops next to Jan with his arms crossed. "The man was hired to create super soldiers, but things went south when he started to do experiments that were causing too much risk for everyone."
"Why am I not surprised?" Hank mutters glaring at Fury who turns around to look back at the scene in front of them.
"You need to stop peeking into things where you don't belong Aelita." Fury says getting the girl to glare at him. "But you are right. He was hired for one thing to create super soldiers, but he wouldn't listen when we told him to pull the plug. He became unstable that had to be put down."
"If you mean unstable, then you did a good job putting him to sleep making him believe that you staged the accident." Phantom says getting Fury to grunt knowing that Danny made a point.
"This happened ten years ago when things were a little simpler. He disobeyed direct orders believing he had everything under control. Of course, like most scientist, we took a risk with something that we shouldn't have done. Now it has come back to bite me in the butt." Fury admits getting Aelita to roll her eyes.
"Do you know anything about his powers that we should know about?" Aelita asks deciding to get to the point.
"He can manipulate gravity, but we don't know the exact amount he can put out."
"Looks pretty big to me." Phantom remarks getting everyone to look up and see Thor getting pushed back by Graviton. Thor flies straight back at Graviton swinging his hammer hitting the gravitational force field Graviton has set around him.
Jan balls her hand up and says, "How much longer are we going to talk about his powers? It doesn't look like Thor can handle the situation."
"If Thor goes down, then he'll have a chance to go into the city if we don't help." Phantom says agreeing with what his cousin was saying.
"Don't you think I know that you two." Fury says narrowing his eyes at the cousins.
"Jan…" Hank starts putting his hand on her shoulder.
Jan pushes his Hank's hand off her shoulder and continues, "We're talking millions of people." Jan starts shrinking into her smaller form determined to fight Graviton. "I'm not going to let that happen." She flies off ignoring her boyfriend's cries for her to stop.
"Could have tried to come up with a plan at least." Aelita mutters. She turns her head to Phantom only to see that he was gone. "And he's gone as well."
"Do you have a plan to begin with?" Fury asks getting her to glance at him. "I'm all ears if you have one."
"Do you have any spare robots meant for distractions?"
Cree runs at Maurice and swings her leg out hoping to finish this quickly. Maurice jumps over Cree and kicks her on the back getting her to land on her hands and knees by the sudden force. Cree pushes off her hand and swings her leg out at Maurice's legs getting him to jump back to avoid falling to the ground. Cree gets back on her feet and mutters, "Don't make me mark you as a traitor Maurice."
"That's a bit hard to do since the KND call you and all other teenage operatives are marked as traitors as well." Maurice remarks. He spins his holster on his guns and fires a blast of air from each pistol.
Cree feels the push of air on her and slides back a few feet almost losing her footing by the surprise attack. She looks at the guns in Maurice's hands then looks back up at his determined face. "How did you do that?"
"I wish I could tell you." Maurice spins the holster for the gun in his left hand and fires a blast of air from his right pistol.
Cree moves out of the way from the blast and runs toward Maurice deciding to ask him questions about his weapons later. She cocks her left fist back getting ready to swing it at her crush when he points his left pistol at her. Her eyes widen when a stream of water shoots out blasting her away to the other side of the roof. She pushes her body up to her feet and glares at Maurice. "What kind of weapons are those?" She mutters unsure if she should keep herself away from Maurice or charge at him again.
Maurice slowly walks towards Cree. "This could have been avoided Cree. Nick Fury has barely been able to keep a tight lid on the crimes the Teen Ninjas have been doing. Why do you think I'm stuck doing this? Do you really believe I want to fight you?" He asks narrowing his eyebrows at his childhood friend.
Cree grits her teeth as her anger clouds her mind of what Maurice was saying. "You chose to go against us."
"I chose to save you guys from going to jail!" Maurice argues back getting frustrated that Cree was making the situation way harder than it needed to be.
"You still could have told us what was going on!" She runs at Maurice swinging her right fist back.
"You're right." Maurice blocks the fist with his pistol and sticks the other one against her stomach. "I could have."
Cree pushes the pistol away from her stomach with her left hand and swings her leg out making Maurice fall onto his back. She jumps onto Maurice's stomach and swings her fist down at him. She hits Maurice's pistol and grunts at the force of her hand hitting the metal. She knocks the gun out of his hand but gets blasted by a gust of air from the other pistol. She lands on her feet and runs at Maurice who jumps onto his free hand pointing the pistol at Cree.
Maurice pushes off his hand getting back on his feet barely avoiding the fist Cree swings at him and spins the wheel of his pistol. He fires a blast of electricity getting her to duck down onto the roof looking up in surprise. "What was that?!" She yells at him.
Maurice picks his other pistol up and spins the wheel having it stop on the ice symbol. "Electricity." He fires the ice blast from the second pistol getting Cree to roll to her right avoiding the ice now covering the spot where she was.
Cree looks at the ice in horror and turns her head to Maurice who was pointing the other pistol at her. "Are you trying to kill me?!"
"Relax Cree. The elemental attacks are not harmful to the human body. They made sure of it." He fires another blast of electricity and watches Cree dodge again. 'Of course, this would be way easier if you stopped dodging my attacks.' He thinks not wanting to fight his childhood friend.
Graviton blocks Thor's hammer and punches Thor on the back getting Thor to fly away from the force. Graviton stops Thor's movement and pulls him back to punch Thor in the face. He watches Thor fly back even further from the punch and stops the Asgardian with his control over gravity. "Can your brutish mind understand what I am telling you?!" Thor grits his teeth at the pain Graviton was forcing on him. "I control one of the four fundamental forces of reality! I can remove gravity's effect on you sending you hurtling into space or can increase it a thousand-fold. Like this!"
Graviton sends Thor straight into the water multiplying the gravitational force onto the Asgardian. Graviton turns his attention off Thor and flies straight to his intended target when something smacks him in the face. "Dr. Franklin Hall, you normally don't seem the type to do something like this." Graviton hears getting him to look around carefully.
"Who are you?"
Phantom makes himself visible behind Graviton and says, "I'm just a Phantom."
Graviton turns around and get a blast to the face from Phantom's ecto-ray. Graviton flies back a bit and glares up at Phantom when Wasp gets up in his face. "One chance Franklin, surrender, or I'll blast you."
Graviton laughs, "Are you joking with the power at my disposal?"
'Can't say I didn't warn him.' Wasp thinks before blasting him with her wasp sting.
"Ow!" Graviton yells feeling the sting. She continues blasting him annoying him of the stings when Phantom throws an ecto-ball down at the physicist. He feels the stings stop and looks at Wasp who smirks at him and points up getting him to look up. Graviton reaches up and pushes the ecto-ball back at Phantom who raises his hand and absorbs it before it could blow up. "Did you really think I would fall for such a minor trick?" He pushes a huge force of gravity making Phantom and Wasp fly away and fall into the water from the force.
Graviton turns around just in time to have Ironman fly in with his fists hitting Graviton right on the chest. Ironman opens his palms and blasts Graviton into the water just as Wasp flies out of the water. Wasp flies around Ironman getting him to turn his attention to her. "Hey Janet, I knew we traveled in some of the same social circles, but I didn't know you had parties like this." Tony jokes. "So, who was that guy?"
"Some crazy physicist that has something to do with Nick Fury." She looks around the area and asks, "Did your armor happen to see where my cousin land? He should have been out of the water by now."
"Sorry, still can't trace Phantom's signature while he's in his other form. Even with the new security, I can't track him." The two adults fly over the water and stop when they hear someone coming out of the water. They turn around to find Graviton floating above them with his gravitational force field around him.
"Warning: Gravitational field on target is in flux. Extreme caution advised." Jarvis warns Tony.
"Jan the energy he is putting out is in comparison to a black hole. This guy is trouble." Ironman warns his friend realizing the danger that they are facing.
"You're right." Graviton says activating his powers on Ironman.
"Ah!" Ironman yells as he flies off into the sky surprising Jan by the sudden action.
"What are Graviton's upper limits?" Hank asks Nick Fury as he watches Tony disappear from his vision.
"We've been studying him for years, and as far as we can tell, he doesn't have any." Nick answers glancing at Aelita briefly before looking back at Hank. "What do you think you're going to do? Talk him down?"
Hank turns his attention to Graviton and says, "No, it is far too late to do that." He pushes the button on his belt and grows over sixty feet tall and walks into the ocean pulling his arms back as Wasp distracts Graviton with her wasp stings. He wraps his hands around Graviton just as Wasp flies away from the villain.
Wasp flies up to Giant man and says, "Hank, you went big."
"Janet, get out of here. I'll handle Graviton." He tells her.
"What, no, we're in this together."
"Huh?" The couple turn their attention to Hank's hand and get blasted by Graviton's power making Hank crash right onto the docks with Jan landing somewhere near him.
Fury watches the two crash and turns his full attention to Graviton. "This is between us Hall. Do whatever you want with me, but no one else has to get hurt." Fury says trying to get Graviton to leave his focus on him.
"No, you wanted me to create a super soldier, but I have become so much more. I am beyond human now." Graviton explains wanting people to fear what he has become. "I'm going to crush you then show the world their new master's power. Destroying the city will be a good demonstration." His eyes glow from the power, and Graviton grabs Nick Fury's body. "Goodbye Nick Fury!" He squeezes Fury's body and watches the body break apart only to realize what he was destroying a robot. He removes the head and removes the mask from the machine angrily growling in frustration. "Fury!" He squeezes the head destroying it getting Fury to take a small glance from his hiding spot.
"That could have gone better." Fury glances at Angelic Code who was moving codes and pictures around on two different holo-screens. "Did you get anything useful out of that?"
"Quite a bit, but most of it is useless for us to use." Angelic Code answers not taking her eyes off the screens. "His energy output is deadly, but he has barely touched the surface of his powers."
"That's a scary thought." Fury mutters not liking the information she was giving him. "Any weaknesses?"
"Yeah, do you know anyone who is strong enough to resist gravitational force?" She asks glancing to her left at Fury.
"Just one, but he's not someone who willingly comes out to help people."
Angelic looks back at her screens and sighs, "Then you better hope the rest of us can take him down, or you can say 'goodbye' to all of New York City."
"I didn't know Hank could grow like that." Feline says as the four teens watch the battle from the other side of the ocean.
"Makes you wonder if we're really needed." Ronin remarks.
"We're following Aelita's orders, Ronin, but I have to agree with you there." Shadow points out and agrees with his friend. He winces when he sees Nick Fury's robot gets destroyed into a junk of scrap metal. "I take that back."
"You guys must be pretty good friends, if you her trust her judgment this much." Matt says over the coms.
"Comes with knowing her for the couple years." Ronin says with a soft smile.
"Cool, but our target is moving closer to the city, and he's…oh no."
The four teens look at Graviton as he raises a specific part of New York City. "Feline!" Kunoichi yells.
"I'm on it!" Feline flies off to the floating island.
"The good news is that no one is hurt, but it won't be long until someone will be if we don't get them to a safer area." Matt tells him.
"That's why we got to trust in Phantom and the others to take care of things. Wish I could join in on the fun though." Feline jokes with a small smile on his face.
Graviton looks up at the ground he pulled up with part of the city on it and hears someone coming out of the water. He turns around to see Phantom and Thor floating there with the water falling around them. Thor pulls his hammer back, summons lightning into his hammer, and swings it getting him to fly and hit the gravitational field around the villain. Thor swings his hammer again and forces the impact of his hammer to push Graviton straight into the dirt and rock under the city.
"Nice shot." Phantom says.
"Thank you young one, but it seems we got other things to worry about." Thor says noticing the land falling because of the earth's normal gravity. He flies under the giant pile of rocks and dirt holding the buildings and tries to lower the impact of the ground as it heads straight down back to where Graviton pulled it from.
Phantom watches from the distance and glances up at the city to see Feline directing people away from the destroyed buildings. 'It might not make much of a difference. If Graviton…Oh no!' Phantom flies above the city just as it goes back into place on the ground. He flies into the city and watches for anything different about to happen. He sees a huge chunk of street break open and heads straight to Graviton swinging his fist back activating his ecto-energy. He sees Graviton and turns intangible avoiding all the debris as he nears Graviton. He makes his hand tangible and smashes it into Graviton's face.
Graviton flies into the street and slides across the concrete getting Danny to wince. "Yeah, I do not want to be the clean up crew." Danny mutters not liking the idea of cleaning up this kind of mess.
Graviton turns his head to Phantom who glares down at him and gets up on his feet. "Do you really want to try my patients, kid? You're nothing compared to my power!" He reaches his hand out and throws Phantom into one building getting Phantom to groan at the impact.
'Really need to turn intangible faster.' Phantom thinks deciding to brush the pain off.
Graviton smirks and moves his hand getting Phantom to smash into another building only for Phantom to go through it. Graviton frowns and lets his power go unaware that he has freed Phantom from his gravitational control. "What was that? Ah!" Thor's hammer flies right on Graviton's head getting him to hit the ground head first again.
The hammer flies into Thor's open hand, and Thor looks down at Graviton with a glare. "I recommend you stay down, mortal!" He tells the villain.
Graviton get back up and turns to Thor. "You think you can stop me. I beaten you before, and I can do it again." He opens his hand gets ready to send Thor flying, but he yells in pain when a giant energy beam hits him straight on making him fall back onto the street.
Thor turns around to see Ironman coming down with the blast coming from Ironman's chest. Ironman stops firing the blast and flies next to the crater with Thor following him. The two adults look down in the crater, and Ironman says, "You should really listen to the man."
A giant foot lands behind Graviton making him to look behind him to see Giant-man standing there looking down at him. "You're sick Franklin. You need help." Hank says hoping that he could get through to the man.
Wasp flies around Graviton and points both of her hands at him. "Or possibly more zapping." She says feeling confident on how things were turning out for them.
"No, no, the power I…" Graviton looks down to see his feet getting covered in ice. "What is this?!" Graviton exerts major force of gravity getting the four heroes to fly back and the ice to shatter from the pressure. He flies up into the air and looks around carefully. "Why are you hiding from me kid?! Are you scared to face me head on?!"
"Not really but turning you into an ice cube while staying invisible a really fun." Phantom says flying straight through Graviton giving him a big chill through his body.
Graviton sees Phantom become visible and stops Phantom from punching him in the face. "You're crafty, but you lack true strength." Graviton push Phantom into the building and grins evilly. "Out of everyone here, none of you can understand what it means to be strong or powerful. No one can beat me in strength because I'm the strongest one there is!"
Everyone hears something crash onto a building getting them to turn their attention to their newcomer. "You sure about that?" The big green beast asks with a smirk on his face. The beast jumps off the building, grabs Graviton, and takes him over to the ship containers while punching the villain in the face a couple of times.
The five heroes gain their bearings and turn their attention where the beast took Graviton. "We got no time to lose." Ironman says before taking off to the shipyard full of metal crates.
Thor and Wasp follow him in the sky while Giant-man follows by foot. Phantom gets back on his feet and puts his hand on the commlink in his ar. "Angelic Code, please tell me that was the Hulk." Phantom says.
"It is, and he's the opening we need in order to take Graviton down. I'll be on my way to help in just a moment." Angelic Code replies.
"Ok then." Phantom says before flying off after the other heroes.
Maurice stands above the rubble staring down at the unconscious Cree. He slides down the debris and pulls Cree out from under the destroyed building. He notices a few cuts and bruises but does not see anything out of place or broken getting him to sigh in relief. He picks her up and puts her on his back muttering, "That was too close for comfort."
Flashback
Cree jumps over Maurice and swings her foot down only for Maurice to drop his weapon and grab her ankle. He slams her onto the roof and freezes her legs onto the ground with his other pistol. "It's over Cree!" Maurice says picking his other pistol up and pointing both guns at her. "Surrender!"
Cree growls, "I'll never surrender to a traitor like you!" She reaches down and tries to pull her feet free only for them not to budge from their spot. She looks up at Maurice with a glare and mutters, "Why are you doing this Maurice? Is it so important that you have to betray the teens for what those snotty nose little kids have done to us?"
"The kids didn't do anything to us. They are following procedure for is supposed to be done to all of us." Maurice answers getting Cree to widen her eyes in surprise.
"You have your memories." Cree mutters in surprise.
Maurice sighs, "Yeah, I do. I was able to regain them a few hours after leaving the Kids Next Door, but unlike you, I was given a better purpose."
"What do you mean?" Cree asks fearing what Maurice was about to say.
"I…" The building starts to shake surprise both teens. They look around noticing that the building was starting to crumple from the pressure. Maurice turns his head to see Cree falling to the ground getting him to yell and jump after her. "Cree!" He hears more of the building crumble behind him and jumps off some rubble and continues moving to avoid getting the debris to land on him.
End Flashback
'I wish it didn't have to go like this.' He thinks sadly. He hears something land behind him and turns around to see a small kid-crafted ship opening. He watches as his other friend, Abigail Lincoln, walking out of the aircraft and sigh in defeat.
"I came as soon as I saw you two fighting on the radar." Abby says as she looks at her childhood friend and her sister. "Abby also saw the building fall on top of you guys as well."
"We're okay Abby, but I can't tell you how long your sister will be unconscious."
Abby lowers her hat and sighs, "You're right Maurice." She reaches up and grabs her older sister from Maurice. "I'm sorry for putting you through this Maurice."
Maurice puts his pistols into their holsters and turns his back to Abby. "Just go before I start thinking about what could have happened to us."
"I'll…see you later, Maurice." Abby says deciding that this was not the time to talk with her old friend. She boards her aircraft and leaves the area before anyone could see her there.
Maurice looks up and sighs in defeat. "Might as well see if anything else…"
"Maurice!"
Maurice turns around to find Feline flying his way on the Overboard. "Feline!" Feline reaches Maurice, and the two reach their hands out grabbing onto each other's hand. Maurice flies and lands on the Overboard asking, "What's going on out there?"
"Angelic Code is having the team do damage control and make sure that no one is harmed from the villain's attacks to the city." Feline answers keeping his eyes in front of him.
"Do you know what's going on though?" Maurice asks hoping to be caught up.
"There was a massive jailbreak from all the prisons that Shield built, but only one of those villains is attacking the city. Angelic Code is having us protect the people to make sure no one gets hurt from the attack."
"You mean killed."
"That too, but I'm trying to stay on the positive side of this." Feline points out getting Maurice to nod at the idea.
"Do you know where they are now?"
"I was told that they are at the shipyard with all the metal crates. That place should be empty right now…"
"Which leaves us to take care of the part that was attacked." Maurice finishes catching everything of what was happening. "Let's get moving then."
"I'm already on it."
Hulk smashes into the ground with Graviton and stares down at the villain with an angry stare. Graviton get up and moves back barely avoiding Hulk's fists but flies back from the force of Hulk's fists smashing into the ground. He jumps after Graviton punching the man to the machine used to transfer the metal crates onto the boats.
"I did not realize that there were ogres on Midgar." Thor says as he and Ironman fly onto the scene at the shipyard.
"That's not an ogre." Ironman mutters getting a confused look from Thor. "That's the Hulk, and truthfully, I have no idea why he is here."
Graviton puts up a gravitational field around him to block the Hulk's fists, but Hulks smashes into the field even harder and makes them go straight to the ground. Graviton tries to get away, but Hulk jumps after the villain and smashes the man back onto the ground. Graviton puts the gravitational field back around him and quickly acts by putting Hulk into the ground and making the ground sink around him.
"Take him down!" Ironman orders flying straight towards Graviton with Thor following his lead.
Graviton sees the two coming and adds gravity to their bodies getting them to crash onto the ground. He turns his head to Giant-man and Wasp and does the same thing to them grinning that he was able to stop them from doing a surprise attack. He looks in another direction to see Phantom flying towards him with Angelic Code close behind him. He sees their hands light up green and pink and add the gravitational force to them making them fly straight into the ground in surprise.
"How can his power reach this far away?" Phantom says trying to move his body up.
"His power has no limit. We're going to need Hulk to get him up or a distraction to get us out of this." Angelic Code answers hoping that the weight of the gravity was not affecting her Lyoko form's life points.
"Look at you fools. I possess the power of the universe, itself!" Graviton yells trying to prove that he was undefeatable. "I am power!" Graviton starts to float up into the air when a giant hand comes out of nowhere and slaps him onto the ground.
"Yeah, and I'm annoyed that you interrupted my television show." A blue person says as she makes the giant hand made of water transform into a fist.
Graviton stops in midair and glares at the woman not letting his power go that he has on the heroes. He turns his attention to the woman and notices that she was floating there with a pair of water wings and with her arms crossed. "Why does everyone deny me my want of ruler?"
"Because no one likes a dictator, I guess." The woman answers with a shrug. "I'm only here because I find you on the screen really annoying."
"I'll show you annoying!" He pushes a huge amount of gravity onto the woman only for the woman not to move from her spot. He watches in surprise when nothing happens to the woman. He tries his powers on her again only for nothing to happen to her. "What is going on? Why isn't it working?"
"Your control over gravity?" The woman asks raising an eyebrow at him.
"Yes!"
The woman shrugs, "My body automatically adjusts to the weight of gravity on every planet. Your power only has my body readjust to the weight you add to it."
"But that's impossible!"
The woman shrugs and moves her right hand getting the water to blast straight at the villain. Graviton puts up his gravity field holding the blast of water from sending him back, but he gets punched into the air by Hulk unaware that Hulk was even moving. Graviton regains his balance in midair and looks down at Hulk with a glare. He puts major force on the ground getting Hulk stuck between the rocks, but Hulk pulls himself out with some difficulty getting Graviton to growl at the beast.
The woman shoots another blast of water at Graviton getting him to fly off and crash into metal crates getting all the heroes to lose the weight added onto them. She watches Hulk jump out of the crater and land next to Graviton and chuckles at the villain's expense. "This has to be entertaining." She mutters with a small smile gracing her lips.
Graviton looks up and gets smashed into the ground by Hulk getting to groan in pain. He puts up his gravity field and growls angrily. He pushes Hulk into the sky with his powers and flies up a few feet pulling up multiple metal crates along with him. He throws the metal crates at Hulk while the heroes fly to the battle to help Hulk. Ironman and Angelic Code fire multiple energy blasts from their hands while Wasp flies over to help Hulk. Thor summons lightning through his hammer and shoots it at Graviton while Phantom turns invisible getting ready to give Graviton a distractive chill.
Hulk feels the hold of Graviton's power disappear and starts falling at the shipping crates. He punches the first two away and sees Wasp fly up next to him shooting her stingers from her hands. Hulk watches the metal crate break in half and turns his head to Wasp in surprise. "You're…you're helping me."
"Yeah, now hit him!" Wasp says getting Hulk to smirk.
Hulk runs and jumps across multiple metal crates growling as he readies his fists to hit Graviton. Phantom hears Hulk's voice and chuckles as he flies straight through Graviton's gravity field. He flies through Graviton getting the man to feel the chill go up his spine not noticing the Hulk coming at him until last second. Hulk smashes against Graviton's field and brings them straight to the ground getting the others to refocus their attacks to Graviton.
Graviton forces a huge part of earth straight up with Hulk on it but stops when Wasp starts shooting her stingers at him. Wasp hears something behind her and glances back to see Ironman getting ready to fire an energy blast from his arc-reactor. She moves out of the way, and Ironman shoots the blast hitting Graviton dead on. Graviton pulls up a big chunk of earth blocking the blast and tries to use it to create a wall for cover. Giant-man walks through the water, picks up the giant boat in the water and throws it at Graviton hitting the villain dead on as the boat explodes upon impact.
"Time for the finisher." Phantom mutters flying high into the sky. "You guys better move!" He yells getting Wasp to widen her eyes.
"Oh no." She mutters flying away from what Phantom is about to do.
Thor and Ironman follow her not sure about what Phantom is about to do, and Angelic Code flies above Phantom making her hands become covered with her energy fields. She pours energy into the two energy fields and throws them down at the big explosion where Graviton is. "It's all yours, Phantom!" She tells him.
Danny takes a deep breath and lets out his ghostly wail causing everyone to cover their ears. The ghostly wail causes the two energy fields to blow up causing a big explosion around Graviton making the man feel pain all over his body. Phantom releases his ghostly wail and starts to breath hard. He starts falling to the ground lacking the energy to keep himself up, and Angelic Code flies after him wanting to catch him before he hits the ground. Just as she reaches him, the blue woman catches Phantom by both of his arms getting Angelic Code to sigh in relief.
"That was pretty cool." The woman tells Phantom as she floats to the ground with Phantom catching his breath.
"Thanks." Phantom mutters grateful that she was able to catch him before he hit the ground.
The three reach the ground, and Angelic Code watches Phantom starts relaxing his body. She looks at the woman and asks, "Who are you anyway?"
"My name is Lapis Lazuli, and I'm a gem." Lapis tells the two surprising the teens.
"A gem?" Angelic Code asks unsure on how she should be processing this information.
"Phantom!" Wasp yells getting the three to look at Wasp as she flies up to them with the others walking up to the group. "Are you alright?"
"My energy is coming back, but other than that, I'm actually fine." Phantom answers as the others except Hulk stop to make sure he is fine.
Hulk walks past the group and looks down in the big crater where Graviton was on his knees in pain from all the hits he has taken. "Hmph, who's strongest now?" Hulk asks with a grin on his face.
Giant-man walks up next to Hulk and looks down at Graviton. "You had the power to anything, and you chose to put millions at risk for your own personal idea." He says as he shrinks back to normal size.
"Pretty sad." Wasp remarks as she flies up next to Hank. She fires a wasp sting and watches as the man gasps in pain unable to make a noise and falls on his side passing out from the pain.
"At least I can go back watching my regular programming." Lapis mutters as she looks down the hole along with the other heroes.
Thor looks up at the others and smiles, "Come, let us celebrate." He pulls Hulk, Hank, Ironman, and Phantom into a hug happy that they were victorious from the fight.
"I rather go back home after all of this." Phantom mutters getting a chuckle from Ironman.
"Can't argue with you there." Ironman says getting a grunt from Hulk.
"Freeze!" Everyone stops and turns their attention to the Shield agents as they surround the group of heroes pointing their guns at the Hulk. "Step away from the Hulk. He's a fugitive from the Cube." The agent leading the army orders the heroes.
Hulk grits his teeth and glares at the agents getting ready to fight and flee again when Angelic Code gets in front of him. "I rather if you guys just lowered your weapons. Hulk just all of your lives, and you point a rocket launcher at him as a result." She says getting Hulk to look down at her in surprise. "True, I didn't do much during this fight, but he just saved everyone meaning he's a hero just like the rest of us." Everyone except Lapis moves in front of Hulk surprising the big beast and stands their ground in front of him.
"Stand down!" Fury orders getting the agent leading the group to lower his weapon and move to side for Nick Fury and his second-in-command to walk in front of his team. "We got bigger problems than the Hulk." Fury starts walking around the crater and continues his speech. "Seventy-four super villains are now on the loose all across the country maybe the world by now."
"How did this happen Fury?" Ironman asks not liking the idea of so many criminals out in the world.
"I don't know, but we can find out together." Fury says getting Hank to narrow his eyebrows. "Come work for us. As Shield agents you can make a real difference."
"Are you certain you should be asking us that Fury?" Angelic Code asks as the director of Shield and his second-in-command were almost close to them.
"Of course, he would ask us, but he was the one who created all this mess in the first place." Hank says getting everyone to look at him as he walks up to Fury. "Shield created Graviton, and whatever you had Hall doing changed him. You kept it under wraps, and this happened." He finishes glaring at the director.
"Fury's right." Ironman says getting everyone to look at him in surprise except Lapis who only raises an eyebrow.
"What?!" Wasp cries out in surprise. "You of all people are going to work for Shield?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest and while looking down at Ironman.
"No, he's right about us making a difference, together." Ironman explains getting everyone to listen. "One on one we can each take down a villain or two but seventy-four. None of us can do it alone. Together, we have a chance. What we did here can change things. The world needs us but not as Shield agents but as a team on our own. Together we can avenge the wrongs done by all these villains."
"We can be Avengers." Wasp says liking the idea of making a hero team.
"Huh, good name." Hulk says liking the idea.
"So, you guys in?" Ironman asks curious if they were up to it.
"I'm in." Wasp answers immediately.
"I'm not too sure on how this will all work Stark, but I'll come along to see how this all goes." Hank says not completely sure if it was a good idea to make a hero team.
"I'll join." Thor says feeling this as an opportunity to learn more about the Earth and the people he fought alongside with.
"Count me in." Hulk answers pointing at himself.
Phantom and Angelic Code look at each other then at the others. "Let's be honest, Tony." Phantom starts getting everyone to look at them. "Angelic Code and I don't live around here."
"Which is why we'll build a base of operations…."
"Let me finish Stark." Ironman shuts his mouth and gestures for Phantom to continue. "Angelic Code can build the stuff we need to be here in a flash which wasn't the problem, but thanks for pointing it out."
"What Phantom is trying to say is that we're in, but we have our other job to teach the mutants at the Institute." Angelic Code finishes before Danny could explain more about their situation.
"Fair enough." Ironman says not going to push them into moving further into the city. He looks over at Lapis and asks, "What about you?"
Lapis shrugs and walks into the circle. "I'm going to have to refuse. I appreciate the offer, but being a hero is not my kind of work." She answers.
"Why did you come here to help us then?" Wasp asks raising an eyebrow at the gem.
"The news took over what I was watching, and it was getting on my nerves for how long it was on. I wanted to know why it was taking so long and just acted because I wanted to." Lapis answers not really caring that she helped them take down the villain.
"Is that it?" Angelic Code asks feeling like there was more.
Lapis glances at Angelic Code and mutters, "Yeah."
"Ok, we won't force you." Ironman says.
Lapis nods appreciating that they are not pushing her to join and spreads her water wings out. She takes off into the sky and flies off leaving the others behind on the ground. "You're not really letting her go, are you?" Hank asks Tony.
"Not really, but I'm not going to force her to join either. Wouldn't want someone like her as an enemy." Ironman answers getting Hank to nod.
"Can't argue with that logic." Hank mutters agreeing with his fellow genius.
That Night
Danny, Aelita, and Matt walk into the Institute through the front door to find Professor Xavier, Max, and Ororo waiting for them at the front of the stairs. Danny shuts the door and walks in front of his two friends staring down at Professor Xavier. "Do you want to talk about it tonight, or do you want us to go to our rooms?" Danny asks.
Xavier sighs, "Aelita isn't the one in trouble this time so she doesn't need to be here."
"I think I'll stay anyway." Aelita says crossing her arms over her chest.
Max puts his right hand on Xavier's shoulder and says, "I got this." He walks out and puts his hands on his hips. "Why did you take Matt with you to the danger zone? You should have known how dangerous it would have been to bring him along."
"In his defense…" Matt starts but stops when Danny puts his hand up.
Danny sighs, "I don't know why I did it, but something was telling me to do it." This gets the three adults to raise their eyebrows. "I don't even know why I was being told to do it, but I was, and I chose to listen to it despite the consequences."
Aelita shuts her eyes and looks away with a sigh remembering her conversation with the strange man earlier this afternoon. 'Right, I have to tell him.' She thinks deciding that Danny deserves to know.
"We decided to have Matt direct Aelita's friends through the city to protect people. To our knowledge no one died during the fight, and Matt was able to lead them through the city saving multiple lives." Danny conclude putting his hand on Matt's shoulder getting the teen to smile and laugh nervously.
"Come on Danny. You're giving me too much credit." Matt says not sure how he should take the praise.
Charles closes his eyes and sighs knowing what Danny was trying to do. "Ok, Matt won't receive any punishment from this incident, but you, Daniel, will be training the students in the Danger Room for a month without using your powers."
"Oh man…" Danny mutters not liking the punishment.
"Now off to bed you three. We'll talk more about this in the morning before school." Xavier explains getting Danny to groan.
"Yes Professor." The three teens walk past the adults up the stairs leaving the three teens behind.
"Why did you let them off so easily?" Ororo asks Charles.
Charles puts his hands together under his chin and says, "For the first time in five months Danny's mind was open for me to read, and I just broke one of my own rules to see if he was telling the truth."
"Oh boy…" Max mutters not liking where this is going.
"He was, but the part I heard wasn't about the events. I heard the voice he was talking about, and it sounded oddly familiar." Charles explains trying to decipher the voice.
"Do you know who it was?" Ororo asks him.
"No, while I recognize the voice, I cannot create the face or the name of the person who spoke to Danny."
"So, we're dealing with another mutant or… a time traveler." Max concludes not liking the idea of a time traveler going inside one of the student's mind.
"Don't start making crazy assumptions Max." Ororo says crossing her arms over her chest. "Time travelers do not exist."
Max turns around and sighs, "I've been through a lot over the summer Ororo, and I truly mean a lot, but one thing I was unable to be a part of was an event where Ben told me how he met his future self along with his cousin. While I can't say that these events happened, my grandson doesn't joke around when it comes to do the right thing."
"You mean his transformations." Charles summarizes knowing what Max was talking about.
"Exactly, if people are trying to reach out to Danny, then our mutant is going to be heading off into something that we cannot control." Max concludes getting the others to think about Danny's situation.
Danny enters his room and stops when he sees Rogue sitting on his bed with a serious expression on her face. He sets his backpack down on the floor and sighs, "Alright, how much trouble am I in?"
Rogue stares at Danny and gets off his bed. "Danny, Ah can't keep doing this." She says.
Danny blinks feeling confused on what she was saying. "What do you mean, Rogue?" He whispers not sure on what she means.
Rogue takes a deep breath and says, "Ah can't keep seeing you going out and risking yah life. Every time Ah see yah leave Ah start worrying about you, and Ah can't keep thinking like this if you don't think about what you are doing."
"What are you trying to say?"
Tears start pouring out of her eyes when she says, "Ah'm breaking up with you."
Maurice looks out at the remains of the Helicarrier as it was being pulled out of the ocean. He hears someone walk next to him and says, "She's been taken by the Kids Next Door to have her memories removed."
"Good, this will make it easier to take down the Teen Ninjas and stop them from becoming real criminals." Fury tells Maurice.
"Wish it would be that simple."
Fury nods his head and says, "Can't have everything easy for us Maurice. Today's battle proved that. Good job at joining Aelita's friends and protecting civilians."
"Thank you, but what do you plan to do with the Teen Ninjas?" Maurice asks as he pulls a quarter out of his pocket.
"You'll find out soon enough."
Maurice glances at Nick Fury and sees the man walking away. "I guess I will." Maurice mutters flipping the coin into the air and catching it.
Stacy looks at the destroyed targets then down at the water needles resting between her fingers. "Out of all the weapons, this is what feels right for me." She mutters staring at the needles between her fingers. 'At least these are not meant for killing.' She thinks sighing in relief about not needing to worry about killing someone with something sharp.
"Your body strength is unable to use anything else properly, and I doubt you'll take the time to increase it." Logan says as he walks over to the damage she has done. "On the bright side, the needles are easy to use and should take almost no time at all for you to create. Your shuriken on the other hand…" He glances over at the five four-pointed star shuriken embedded in the wall behind the target. "…are going to need a little work, and by little, I mean a lot."
"You don't have to rub it in." Stacy mutters with a dead-panned look.
"I call it as I see it, waterworks." Logan waves off her facial expression. "Pick up all of the water then head to bed. I'll worry about everything else."
Stacy snaps her right hand and gets all the water to fly off the walls, the target, and the ground and go into her hand. "See you later Logan."
"Don't let the door hit you on the way out." Logan remarks without looking back at Stacy as she leaves the Danger Room.
Stacy heads upstairs and walks past multiple rooms only to stop in front of Danny's room. She was about to knock on the door when the door opens allowing Stacy to see Rogue exiting the room with tears on her eyes. "Rogue, is…" Stacy gets shoved to the side by Rogue and watches the woman run away completely ignoring Stacy. Stacy turns to Danny's room and notices Danny's hair covering his eyes as he sits down on his bed. "Danny, what just happened?" She asks cautiously.
Danny looks up at Stacy then back at lap. "She dumped me Stacy." Stacy's eyes widen in surprise and horror at those words. "My relationship with Rogue is over."
"All as it should be."
I worked hard on this chapter, and now is the time for Danny to start expanding on things I want to focus on in this story. I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, and please give me what your thoughts are on the breakup.
