This chapter should wrap up a good chunk of the depressing parts of the story we have been going through. You might enjoy it for all I know. I do not own anything.
Marinette rides the back of her boyfriend's bike with her arms around his waist. "Thanks for giving me a ride home Luka. I know it's kind of sudden for me needing to get home." Marinette thanks him as he takes them to her home.
"It's no problem at all. Stuff like this happens." Luka says sad that Marinette's sudden need to leave but happy that he gets to spend time with her while taking her home. "Why do you need to go home suddenly?"
Marinette sighs, "A friend of mine decided to make a quick visit and told me that he's coming to see me."
Luka glances at her. "You sound a little upset about this."
Marinette looks away not wanting to show her feelings about the situation. "He rarely makes any visits since he lives out of the country. Last time he didn't even tell me he was visiting and just showed up at the park without any warning in front of everyone."
"Were you glad to see him?"
"Not really, his surprise visit was him trying to pry into my personal life."
"Really?" Luka makes a mental note to see if he could talk to this guy about Marinette.
"Yeah, we argued for a bit, but we did come to an understanding of the situation."
"Do you know why he's here this time?"
Marinette shakes her head. "I wish I did know, but we haven't talked for a couple weeks so his sudden appearance is a little nerve racking." 'He also might be here to get me to talk about my hero life again, but I can't exactly say that out loud.' She sees her family's bakery up ahead and notices Randy walking out of the door with Alix right behind him. "What is Alix doing with him?" She asks not realizing she said it out loud.
"Wait, that's your friend?" Luka gives Randy a close look over wondering how Marinette met this guy.
"Yeah, that's him, but I never heard of him meeting Alix."
"Guess we both learned something new." Luka jokes getting Marinette to lightly glare and puffs her cheeks at him. "Lighten up, he probably met her by coincidence his last visit or this one."
Marinette raises an eyebrow as she sees her two friends sit down at a table with each of them holding a pastry. "Knowing Randy, he met her by coincidence by doing something stupid."
"Guess we'll find out then." Luka hits the breaks on the bike stopping them a few feet from the two snacking teens.
Randy and Alix look at Luka and Marinette and wave at them. "Well, look at who decided to show up Randy. Marinette showed up just as you predicted. Though I will admit that I'm confused on why Luka is here."
"Are they a couple or something?" Randy asks feeling curious of Marinette's relationship status.
"Nah, she would have told us that she…" Alix trails off when she realizes that she has noticed Marinette hanging out with Luka way more recently. "Actually, they might be, but she never told me."
"Looks like we're about to find out." Randy gets off the chair and smiles at the couple coming towards them. "Hey Marinette, how's it going?" He takes a bite of the pastry and groans happily. "Your parents are great cooks by the way."
Marinette smiles feeling appreciative that Randy was eating her family's pastries. "I know they are." She says as she and Luka walk up to the table. "Why are you even here Randy, and how do you and Alix know each other?"
"Uh uh uh, he asked first." Alix waves her index finger and points at Randy.
Marinette lightly glares at Alix who smirks in response. "I was doing fine until you sent me that text."
"So, you guys are together." Randy summarizes getting Marinette to blush deeply and Luka to chuckle and rub the back of his neck.
"Fell into that one." Luka admits.
"Here comes the sputtering mess in 3…2…1…" Alix counts down and points at Marinette who shakes her head and starts waving her arms around nervously.
"N-N-Now let not get ahead of o-ourselves here. T-T-T-There is a perfect logical explanation to…" Luka puts his hand on Marinette's shoulder getting her to stop and look at him.
"You need to relax." Luka tells her getting her to take a deep breath to calm her nerves. "Wait, have you told anyone that we're together?"
Marinette smiles shyly, "Not really, I was waiting to make sure that our relationship was actually considered official."
Luka chuckles, "Seems official to me now."
"Aw!" Marinette kisses Luka's cheek getting Alix to chuckle and shake her head.
"As much as I want to see you two act all 'lovey dovey,' I only came here to show Randy Marinette's place since he wants to talk to her." Alix says deciding to answer Marinette's first question.
Marinette turns her attention to Randy and asks, "And why did you come see me?"
Randy takes a quick glance at Marinette's boyfriend and decides to mention something other than his real reason. "A friend of ours lost her parents a couple days ago." He answers.
Marinette gasps and Luka's eyes widen at those words. Marinette immediately connects the dots knowing that they only have one female friend amongst their secret hero group. "How did it happen?" She mutters as she looks at him worryingly.
Randy looks at their surroundings. "You got somewhere we can talk privately about this? I don't want to be somewhere out in the open for others to hear." He says giving cautious looks to the people around them.
"We can talk about it in my room." Marinette turns to Luka and smiles sadly, "Luka, I…"
"Relax, this is important." Luka says understanding that this is a situation he does not need to be involved with. "I'll talk to you later, ok?"
Marinette smiles happy that her boyfriend is understandable of her privacy. "Thanks Luka."
"Whelp, I better get going to then." Alix gets up and tosses the last of her pastry into her mouth. "I'll see you guys later, and hopefully we can hang out soon with the others Marinette. They're starting to feel a little left out." Alix hits her heals together getting the wheels to pop out of her shoes and skates away waving 'goodbye' to everyone.
Luka smiles at Marinette. "I'll be seeing you later as well."
"Yeah, I'll call you when we're done." Marinette assures him. Luka nods and leaves Marinette alone with Randy. She watches him get on his bike and ride away and sighs, "Ok, did you say that to get them to leave, or did you actually mean what you just said?"
"Both." Randy admits his look becoming totally serious. "Where do you want to talk?"
"Meet me at the balcony to my room. I'll let you in through there." Marinette answers before entering her family's pastry shop.
'She didn't even tell me where it's located.' Randy glances at his surroundings and jumps onto the building and takes a couple leaps to the top. 'Ok, probably got a couple minutes until Marinette gets up here to let me in. Wait…' Randy looks at the view and raises an eyebrow at the view of the city. "Ok, this is actually a nice view." Randy jumps onto the lawn chair and puts his hands behind his head to relax. "Might as well enjoy it until she shows."
Luka rides his bike down the sidewalk and sees Alix come into view as she skates ahead of him. He watches her take a turn down an alley and raises an eyebrow. 'What could she be doing?' He thinks deciding to follow her. He comes to the alley and stops seeing that it was empty with only one way to go through. "Huh, guess she uses it as a short cut." Luka shrugs and rides off not finding the situation weird at all.
Alix moves her head up from behind a trash can and frowns, "Sheesh, almost transformed in front of Luka."
"Told you it was too early." Fluff says flying out of Alix's hat as Alix gets on her feet.
"Yeah, I get it. We should be safe now."
"You actually going to do what older you said or just keep slacking off?"
Alix shakes her head. "I need to go get the kids back to the present; then I'll continue watching that woman." She pulls her Miraculous out and smiles assuringly at Fluff. "Fluff, clockwise!"
"Are you sure that Jan said that they found Captain America?" Angelic Code asks as she and Phantom fly to the Avengers' mansion.
"Yeah, Jan said that they're on their way back with Captain America frozen in ice." Phantom answers not completely believing it himself.
"How can someone even survive being frozen for so long? I barely even know much about this guy, but no one should have been able to survive crashing a rocket into the ice during World War II."
"Well, he was fighting Hydra, and you got to remember that he's the only person who successfully became a super soldier because of the serum that our scientists made."
Angelic Code nods, "True…wait, a super soldier serum? How did they even come across something like that?"
"No idea, I never was interested enough to look into it. I always looked up to the man though." Phantom admits as they see Avengers' mansion come into view.
"Did he inspire you to be a hero?" Aelita asks curiously.
"He might have a small part in it, but…" Phantom thinks for a second on how he should tell her. "I guess it sparked after I tried to save Rogue from Mystique or after saving you from Hydra. I'm not entirely sure which though."
Angelic Code's glances away as her cheek light up slightly feeling happy that she might have helped him want to be a hero. "Oh, that's nice to know."
"Yeah, I feel like it might have been rescuing you, but I can't shake the feeling that I hope it was with Rogue."
Aelita frowns internally upset. 'This is going to take a long time.' She thinks hoping that his obsessive behavior of Rogue will end. "What kind of feeling is it?" 'Why ask him that?!'
Phantom smiles sheepishly, "Ok, it's more of wishful thinking."
Aelita sighs, "Danny, do you think you're being a bit overzealous about Rogue?"
Danny looks at her confusingly, "What do you mean?"
"Whenever we're alone you tend to somehow always bring Rogue up in a conversation even when she's not really involved with it."
Phantom scoffs, "No I don't."
"You brought her up while we were studying for our history test yesterday that she's not even in."
"One time…"
"When we were sparring two days ago, you wondered if it was possible to train with Rogue so you guys can get back together."
"Ok, two…"
"Don't even get me started with the incident in Italy when…"
"I get it!" Phantom remarks getting what Angelic Code was telling him. "Ok, so I bring her up a lot. What is the big deal about it anyway? It's not like we're dating or have feelings for each other."
Angelic Code's right eyebrow starts twitching at that comment. She flies in front of Phantom and stops getting him to stop in front of her noticing the angry look. "My point is that you're obsessed. You are obsessed about her like the breakup was a bad idea. I know you're upset that she ended all of it, but you need to move on!"
"Aelita…"
"I hate seeing you like this." Angelic Code admits. "You don't hang out with the others as much as you used to, and you almost never want to do anything with the others unless she's involved. You act like an obsessive love dog that wants what was taken from him." Phantom looks away uncomfortably as Angelic Code takes a deep breath to calm her nerves. 'Oh no, I screwed up! I told him how I felt about him talking about Rogue, and this could ruin our friendship. No wait, that might be a bit much, but I might be…'
"You're right."
'…able to… wait what?' "Huh?"
Phantom sighs hating the way he has been acting. "I don't know if it's something inside of me, but when Rogue and I got together, we had an understanding relationship. We did so much together whether it was homework, getting together behind everyone's backs when she worked with Mystique, or hold hand and go out on dates like normal couples do." He admits look off into the distance. "It was one of the best times in my life, but everything started to fall apart when you and I decided to use our powers to protect people."
"Right, she was always worried you never come back." Angelic Code admits know what he is talking about.
"So, I thought maybe I could convince her to join us for just a day to see how it goes, but Ninja showed up, and we know where that went." Phantom gives her an unamused look getting her to shrug.
"Can't trust what you don't know."
"Well, one event after another involving him, some villains, Ladybug, and a couple other people, I barely made time for Rogue, and it got to her."
"She was too scared about losing you that she broke it off."
Phantom nods looking away in defeat. "She was my first girlfriend."
"And Jeremy was my first boyfriend." Phantom looks at her a little surprised by that drop of information. "I'm still having a hard time believing he's gone Danny, but I'm trying to move on. My mother leaving didn't exactly help with the situation either."
"I see what you mean…sort of."
"My point is that you'll get past this." She puts her right hand on his cheek. "You just have to give it time."
Phantom smiles appreciatively, "Thanks Aelita."
"You're welcome. Now, how much longer will they be until they get here?"
"According to Jan, a few minutes give or take."
Aelita smirks, "Then we better not keep them waiting."
At the Institute, Logan, Max, Charles Xavier, and Stacy are in Charles' office discussing the recent news that Danny gave Max and Aelita before taking off with her to Avengers' mansion. Logan glares at Max growling angrily, "This isn't time to be making jokes Max."
"I wish it was a joke, Logan." Max responds calmly. "Danny said that the Avengers have Captain America, and he is alive."
"Under normal circumstance I would agree with you Max." Charles says not honestly believing it himself. "But the chances of someone surviving crashing a missile and freezing in ice have never been heard of. You have to believe that it sounds farfetched." Stacy takes a glance at the television and walks to it curious if Captain America would be showing up on the news.
"Then tell that to Danny. I'm just relaying a message he told Aelita before they left." The men hear the television turn on and look at Stacy as she changes the channels with the remote.
"What are you doing?" Logan asks.
"Seeing if this will come up on the news." Stacy answers without looking back at the adults.
"If the Avengers just found Captain America, do you really think it would show up in just a few minutes?" Logan crosses his arms giving Stacy a stern look.
Stacy shrugs, "Wouldn't be the first time something happened a lot sooner than we thought."
"Good point." Logan grunts deciding to leave it at that. He looks out the window and sighs not wanting to believe the situation.
"You alright Logan?" Charles asks his friend.
Logan takes a glance at Stacy and shakes his head getting Max and Charles to understand that he did not want to talk about it around Stacy. Stacy notices the silence and asks, "Do you want me to leave?"
"No, I just need some time to think." Logan walks away getting Max and Charles to watch him concerningly.
Stacy sees him leave the office from the corner of her left eye and waits to sigh after he leaves the room. "Does he like to keep things secretive from his students?" She asks the other adults as she gets the news to come up on the television.
"I will admit that Logan has his trust issues, but he doesn't keep them secretive without reason." Charles answers.
"Logan has been through a lot, Stacy. You can't just expect him to come out and tell you things." Max points out getting the girl to look at them.
"Oh, I get that. I meant more like he was acting like he had some kind of history with Captain America, but that would be impossible since he's from the early 1900s, and we're in the early 2000s." Stacy summarizes unaware of how close to the truth she is. Stacy shrugs, "Either way, Captain America being alive is some major news no one even saw coming." She turns back to the television and starts flipping through the channels again.
Max and Charles give each other a look starting to come to the same conclusion with Stacy's statement. "Yes, it does seem that way." Charles mutters not sure if it is believable.
"I better go check up on the students." The three hear an explosion outside getting Max to sigh. "They never make things easy."
Charles follows Max wanting to make sure that the situation was not severe as it sound leaving Stacy alone with the television in his office. Stacy finds the news channel and widens her eyes as she sees her country's American hero, Captain America, standing near the Statue of Liberty with the Avengers. "He's actually alive." She mutters disbelievingly. She turns around feeling excited to tell Max and Charles only to find herself alone in the room. "Can't say I didn't see that coming." Stacy mutters distastefully. She looks at the television and smiles excitingly, "Oh, Ginger is going to enjoy this!"
Marinette walks into her room closing the hatch behind her and groans angrily, "Ugh, Randy and his random appearances. This is the second time this month."
Tikki flies out of Marinette's purse looking at Marinette concerningly. "Why are you upset, Marinette? Randy came and told you that your friend just lost her parents."
Marinette sighs, "I know Tikki, but it doesn't help that he drops this on me expecting me to drop everything I'm doing to come see him. He could have called first instead of texting me about his arrival."
"He probably figured this would be better said in person than over the phone. I know you're not happy with him and the others knowing your secret, but you can't keep pushing them away."
"I'm not trying to push them away Tikki. I'm…"
"Then why do you get upset when Randy shows up? You never got upset when Angelic Code and Danny needed your help." Marinette lowers her head in defeat. "I know you want to keep your life of a hero separate from your everyday life, but Randy and the others are your everyday life Marinette. You can't keep them separate."
"I know Tikki. It's just…" Marinette sighs not wanting to be mean to Randy but finds the situation not to her liking.
"Marinette…"
"I wish I could have just told him my identity instead of having some outside forces have us learn each other's identity." Marinette admits finally getting out of her system.
"Yeah, I can't argue with that." Marinette gasps and turns around to see Randy walk down the stairs above her desk. "With everything going on, I forgot that was out of our control back then."
"How could you forget that?" Marinette raises an eyebrow curious of how he could forget.
"Eh, when you got yourself chasing after villains, helping friends, and making sure your best friend doesn't get himself expelled from school, you tend to focus on all of that instead of the past event of how we learned each other's secret." Randy reaches the bottom of the stairs and glances at Tikki as she stares at him surprised that he came in without them noticing. "Also, you never mentioned that your Miraculous had a little magical animal that came with it." He adds deciding to lie about not knowing what a Kwami is.
Marinette widens her eyes in horror realizing the one secret of her heroic life was just found out by someone she did not want to know about it. "Uh surprise?" Marinette lamely says getting a dull look from Randy.
"We might not have hung out much Marinette, but you expect me to believe that's a surprise?"
Marinette hangs her head down in shame. "It was worth a shot."
"What are you anyway?" Randy asks directing the question to Tikki.
"I am Marinette's Kwami, Tikki. I'm her partner and magical holder that gives Ladybug her powers."
Randy smirks, "Cool, nice to meet you, Tikki. I bet you had to help Marinette from getting herself into trouble at times."
"Ah, it was nothing. Marinette doesn't usually get into trouble much unless it involves her clumsiness."
Randy chuckles, "How clumsy does she get?"
"I rather let you see it instead of having me explain it." Tikki responds getting a pouting growl out of Marinette.
"Don't start talking like I'm not here you guys." Marinette grumbles getting a giggle from Tikki and a smirk from Randy.
"Sorry Marinette, but you make it a little easy." Tikki apologies getting Marinette to smile appreciatively.
'At least she has someone to talk with about her situation.' Randy thinks a little relieved that Marinette has someone helping her through the rough times of balancing her split lives. "Anyway, how has everything been going since we last talked about your hero work? You able to work out that situation with your classmate?"
Marinette looks away feeling guilty of the situation that happened to her friends. "No, in fact Hawkmoth used her against us and got her to reveal everyone's identities to him except for me and Chat Noir." Randy's eyes widen realizing how dark the situation has turned.
"Oh man, that's just wonk."
"It gets worse." Tikki says noticing that Marinette is getting more uncomfortable with the situation. "The old guardian of the box was captured by Hawkmoth and gave guardianship to Marinette, before Hawkmoth or his allies could get their hands on the box."
"Oh boy, so Marinette is in charge of protecting these magical items?"
Tikki nods, "Yes, but giving her the power of guardianship came with a price."
"What kind of price?" Randy asks skeptically.
Marinette looks down sadness shown in her eyes. "My…my master lost his memory by doing it." Marinette admits not seeing why she should be hiding it from Randy.
"Oh man…that's…"
"I know. He knew what would happen and didn't tell me before handing over guardianship to me."
"Marinette has only been guardian for a day now, and I know she will be great at it." Tikki says as she flies to the right of Marinette's head.
"Only a day? Wait, this fight happened 2 days ago?!" Randy asks looking at Marinette in shock.
Marinette nods not looking at Randy and walks to her desk getting Tikki to look at her worryingly. "Hawkmoth was able to learn the identities of all of her teammates except for her and Chat Noir." Tikki explains sadly.
Randy shakes his head. "Ok then, so what?"
"Huh?" Marinette lifts her head in surprise and looks at Randy. "What do you mean 'So what?'" Marinette gets off her chair and glares at him. "Hawkmoth knows all the identities of my team, and all you have to say is 'so what?'"
"Well, I mean…yeah. I would think of this a learning experience. What did he do with the first person he learned the identity of?"
"He…" Marinette's glare dissipated as her brain starts to realize what Randy is saying. 'Hawkmoth used Chloe against me because I didn't trust her. He knew Chloe wouldn't be trusted by me and sent Chloe over the edge to go against us.' "I pushed her away and made everyone else have their identities revealed." She mutters realizing she brought her teams downfall of their secret identities.
"Ok yes, that did happen." Randy admits. "On the other hand, it just means you can't push the rest of your team away."
"Why would I push the others away?" Marinette asks finding his statement dumb.
"Did the first teammate ever betray you when she fought alongside you?"
"Well, no, but…"
"Did she do anything to Ladybug to cause you to keep her out of the battle?"
"Yes, she revealed who she was before she even started her hero life and took the Miraculous never telling me or Chat Noir that she had it."
"Did she prove she can help?"
"Well, yeah, but…"
"Did she follow orders?"
"Of course, but…"
"Then I fail to see why she couldn't be a hero if she was willing to follow your lead."
Marinette looks at Randy speechless unaware on how he turns the conversation against her. "Because she is a snively evil girl who uses her power as the mayor's daughter to get whatever she wants." Marinette points out.
Randy raises an eyebrow, "And you didn't think having her on the team could change her attitude to everyone and make her a nicer person?"
Marinette's eyes widen as she realizes what Randy just said. Tikki looks between them unsure if she should side with her partner or the guy who has pointed out what Marinette could have done. "I-I-I…"
"I know that I don't know your past Marinette, but it looks like you screwed things up when you let your worry and hate for this teammate cloud your judgement of her being a hero."
Marinette lowers her head realizing the truth. "What can I do now? Hawkmoth could use her against me again, and she will most likely do it too."
Randy shrugs, "Don't know, but if you want to fix it, you will need to stop judging her from how she has always been and try to get her to become someone better."
"Easier said than done."
"Chloe is really stubborn about everything going her way, and when it doesn't, she tries to make it go her way." Tikki explains getting a nasty look form Randy.
"Sheesh, and I thought Bash was bad." Randy remarks. "Either way, you'll come up with something to help her. It'll probably take some time to regain her trust, but you shouldn't have a problem doing that."
Marinette looks at Randy giving him an appreciative smile. "Thanks Randy."
"Hey it's no problem. I'm just that bruce of friend you need."
"Don't ruin the moment."
Randy raises his hands in surrender. "Ok, so where is this magical box that you are protecting?"
Marinette gives Randy a dead stare. "I'm not telling you."
"Ah, why not? I can keep a secret." Randy complains as he walks to her near her desk.
Marinette shrugs, "So? I might be able to understand our situation better Randy, but I am nowhere close into believing I should tell you all of my secrets."
Randy chuckles, "Ok, fair enough, but…" Randy reaches behind his back and produces a red and block spotted oval-shaped box, "…this doesn't happen to be the box, right?" Marinette gasps in surprise and looks at her bag still resting on the desk like it was never touched.
Marinette turns back to him and glares, "How did you do that?"
"I'm a ninja Marinette. Something like this is easy for me to get without trouble."
"Give it back!" Marinette jumps and reaches to grab the box, but Randy moves to the side getting Marinette to crash on the floor.
Randy makes a thinking pose. "Hm, I wonder if I should do that." He leans back a bit getting Marinette to fly by him again and crash on the ground. "I mean I know this thing is valuable and all, but I fail to see why you should keep this secret from us."
"That's none of your business." Marinette gets up and tries to grab the box again only to find her face landing right on his left hand.
"Look Marinette, I know this is important, but you need to relax, ok?" Randy walks forward releasing Marinette getting her to crash onto the ground again and sets the box down on the desk.
Tikki flies over to the box and asks, "Was it really necessary to do that?"
"Nah, but a guy needs to have fun every once in a while." Randy admits as Marinette gets back on her feet. Randy looks over the box and wonders what would happen if he pushed the ladybug symbol on the top. He reaches to push the button only for Marinette to swipe the box from the desk before he could do anything.
"I am not letting you mess with the Miraculous box." Marinette puts the box behind her back protectively glaring at Randy.
"Sheesh, you really should learn to take a joke." Randy remarks finding her anger a little off. "It wasn't like I was going to do anything without your permission."
"You were about to press something, and that's all I need to know." She remarks walking to her bag to hide the box again.
"Ok, but you can't say that you are not curious about the button on the top of that box."
Marinette stops and looks over the Guardian box. "Button? What button?"
"The ladybug."
Marinette looks at the Ladybug curiously and notices what Randy is talking about. "I didn't think this thing even had a button on it." She mutters finding it a little interesting. She walks over to her computer and sits down setting the box to the side.
Tikki and Randy glance at each other then back at Marinette. Marinette looks over the box curiously while grabbing a pencil a piece of paper from her notebook and starts sketching the box. "How long do you think this will take?" Randy asks Tikki.
"It should only take a few minutes before she starts asking me questions." Tikki answers knowing where Marinette was going with her current movement.
"Huh, should I just leave or…?"
"Sit on the bed over there and touch nothing." Marinette orders before Randy could finish his question.
Randy blinks and looks at Tikki questioningly who smiles nervously. "Maybe an hour at most." Tikki admits.
"What the juice did I get myself into this time?" Randy mutters finding the situation a little odd.
"You are seeing it here ladies and gentlemen. It would seem the Avengers have found Captain America, but is he the actual hero? There have been multiple reports in the past…"
Aelita snaps her fingers turning the television off as she does not want to hear the news trying to deny that Captain America is alive. "I can see why Logan hates the news." Aelita remarks dryly.
"Can't blame the guy. Probably has some bad dealings with them too." Danny shrugs as he sees the Avengers Quinjet approach the mansion. "They're here." He tells her feeling excited to meet an American hero.
Aelita smiles, "You ready to meet your hero?"
"Totally."
Aelita smiles and brings up the cameras to the command hangar and the Assembly Hall. "Alright, time to see when…" Aelita frowns as she sees someone, she does not recognize at the supercomputer in the Assembly Hall. "Wait, who is that?"
Danny looks at the screen of the Assembly Hall and squints as he sees the figure. "I don't know, but we better find out before the others get inside." Danny turns intangible and flies to the designated room as Aelita brings up all the cameras inside the mansion.
"Time to see what he's up to."
Phantom phases into the Assembly Hall and turns tangible quietly behind the figure noticing the images of the Avengers. 'Ok, no idea who this guy is, but it's time to act professional.' Phantom raises his hand and activates his ecto-energy in his right hand. "Hello stranger, mind telling me why you're using our supercomputer there?"
The man gasps and turns around to find Phantom's hand aimed at him. The man narrows his eyes behind his mask and thinks, 'It's too early for a proper confrontation with any of them, but if Phantom is here, then so is Angelic Code.' He glances up at the camera hidden in the dark and mutters, "I see. I got a little careless with you and Angelic Code."
"Careless? Yeah, I say you did, but it doesn't answer my question."
"You'll find out soon enough." The masked man runs off getting Phantom to groan and chase after him through the ceiling onto the roof.
Phantom gets on the roof to see that the masked man was already gone. Phantom looks around carefully and mutters, "You got where he went Angelic Code?"
"He hasn't left the mansion. I can tell you that much, but I don't have a specific spot as to where he is." Angelic Code replies as she watches all the cameras carefully.
"Did he even leave the room?"
"He went through the roof like you saw, but even I'm confused as to how he left the room with no trace of being noticed by the cameras on the roof. Unless…" Aelita zooms in on the glass windows in the Assembly Hall and sees the window that the masked man left open. "He went out the side window, and if he never left the mansion's vicinity, I guess that means I might be able to get his location if he still has technology on him."
"Make it quick then. I don't want our new team to end up disbanded because we can't handle intruders."
Aelita brings up all the tech in the building and looks through all of it quickly. "Found it. He's hiding on the third floor, and it seems that his tech is from…Wakanda? You ever heard of Wakanda?"
"No, wish I did. It would make this a bit easier." Phantom phases down into the third floor and looks around carefully. "Exact location?"
"He's on the run right now. Your best bet is to outsmart him."
"Yeah, that's easier said than done."
"So much for meeting your hero right away."
Phantom winces, "Yeah, so much for it." Phantom flies off after the man who is running and hiding inside the mansion.
Aelita connects with the Supercomputer in the Assembly Hall and brings up everything the masked man was going through. She sees the files of the team come up and frowns, "All he looked up was our team's individual abilities and info, but why was he after that? I blame Tony for painting a big target on our back. Better us than the town though."
The masked man crouches down on the floor behind a plant just in time to see Phantom go by. He looks around carefully and jumps onto the ceiling just as Phantom stops going forward. 'It seems Phantom is a little more perceptive than I thought.'
"He still on this floor Angelic Code?" Phantom asks getting the masked man's eyes to widen behind his mask.
'Of course, Angelic Code is tracing me because of my tech. Her biography mentions how good she is at tracing and hacking into foreign technology.' The man thinks realizing how Phantom can stay on his trail. 'It looks like I have to confront these two away from the others, but first…'
The man moves across the ceiling carefully to hear Angelic Code from Phantom's communicator. "He's close by your spot Phantom. It says he's right above you."
Phantom looks up to find the masked man on the ceiling. "Well, Tony is going to a field day when he finds this place destroyed already." Phantom mutters.
"Then how about we avoid having to fight at all." The masked man responds getting Phantom to glare at him.
"You expect me to believe you want to talk after running away just a minute ago?" Phantom asks rhetorically.
"Hm, you make a fair point." The masked man drops to the ground in front of Phantom to find the teen raising his glowed hand at him.
"Then I guess I'll ask again. Why were you using our supercomputer back there?"
"He was getting information on the Avengers."Aelita answers from the communicator. "He hasn't used anything else from what I see."
"Why would you need to come here to get that info?" Phantom asks finding it a little strange. "You could find most of that on the internet. I should know; Tony loves showing off."
"Indeed, but unlike most of your team, information is vague when it comes to you, Angelic Code, and Thor." The masked man explains.
"I can understand Thor since he's from another planet or whatever he calls Asgard, but it doesn't explain why you are doing this in the first place. What purpose does it serve that you need to gather info on the Avengers?" Aelita asks getting right to the point.
The masked man sighs and removes his mask getting a surprised look from Phantom. "Have you ever heard of Wakanda?" The man asks them.
"Not until today." Phantom remarks.
"I learned about its existence just a minute ago because of you. What is Wakanda, and why are you asking?" Aelita asks.
"Wakanda is my homeland and my kingdom." The man answers getting a surprised look from Phantom. "My name is T'Challa, and I was the king of Wakanda."
Irma groans as she zips her suitcase shut. She sits down on her bed next to the suitcase giving her room a good final look. "I'm going to miss this place." She mutters sadly.
"We might be able to come back." Will says as she zips the other suitcase for Irma's little brother.
"When will we? After we take what we'll need, you think there is going to be any good reason for us to come back?" Irma looks at her friend questioningly.
"I mean, we do still have our aunts, uncles, and cousins who live in the country."
"Do they even know what happened?"
Will frowns and turns around crossing her arms. "I don't know."
"Should we tell Yan Lin about this? I doubt she's going to be happy to find out her son and daughter-in-law are dead while her granddaughter is in a coma from other people." Irma explains hating how it came out of her mouth. "Ugh, that didn't even sound good."
"Wish you were wrong though." Will pulls out the communicator and asks, "Should we hand these suitcases over to Ninja then go to my place or just go to my place?"
"First option, I rather not have extra baggage on us to worry about while packing your stuff."
Will nods, "True, should we pack for the others just in case?"
Irma sighs, "Honestly, I would rather avoid doing it, but if we have to, I rather not have them stink when they wake up."
"Among other things." Will pushes a couple buttons and taps on the screen of the communicator getting it to ring.
"What is that?"
"Yo Will, you guys ready to go?" Ninja asks as he appears on the screen.
"Eep!" Will and Irma hear a crashing sound in the background.
"What was that?" Irma asks as she walks over to Will to look at the screen.
"That was Ladybug falling and crashing into her desk." Ninja answers.
"Is she alright?" Will asks a little worried for her friend.
"I'm fine Will. Thanks for asking though." Marinette says as she transforms into her hero persona Ladybug.
Irma looks at the screen to see Ninja sitting down just as Ladybug sits down next to Ninja. "Anyway, we're going to need you to pick up the suitcases and take them to Dr. Strange so we can get the other suitcases packed."
"Will do. I'll be there in a sec." Ninja turns the communicator off leaving the two Guardians alone.
"You think he'll be here in an actual minute?" Irma asks her friend.
"If he explained everything to Ladybug, then he should." Will puts the communicator back in her pocket and moves the second suitcase onto Irma's bed next to the other one.
"How did you guys meet anyway? I don't remember you ever mentioning him to us before a few weeks ago."
Will widens her eyes realizing that she never told her friends about the time travel fiasco she had a few weeks ago. "Uh… you know. We met…in a not-so-subtle fashion." She finishes lamely getting a dull look from Irma.
"Really?"
"Actually, how we met wasn't normal."
"Do we even do normal in our lives anymore?" Irma asks sarcastically not liking how Will was trying to avoid the conversation.
"Fair point." Will sits down on the bed and sighs, "It involved time travel."
Irma tilts her head and raises an eyebrow, "That's it?"
"We were chosen to do a mission against our will. That's how we officially met."
"Against your will? How could that even be possible?"
Will looks Irma in the eyes. "We were warped through time when we least expected it to happen. Only one of us was told what we were to expect and try to stop it. Time User showed up, and the next thing I know is that I'm on the side of a street with no one around except for three other people. So yeah, it was against my will."
"Sheesh, didn't even try to ask you to help?"
"Nope, she was there, and I was in North America the next second." Will explains as she still finds the situation bizarre.
"What did you guys even do there?"
The girls hear a rip and turn their heads to see the portal finish opening with Ninja and Ladybug exiting the portal. "Told you it would be fine." Ninja says.
Ladybug rolls her eyes. "Fine, you were right. Just don't push me into the portal next time." She tells him before turning her attention to Will.
"Well, this is a little surprising." Will mutters as Ladybug walks over to her. She blinks a couple times before Ladybug hugs her. "Er…" Will is unsure of how she should react to the sudden hug from her friend.
"I just found out about your family." Ladybug says quietly.
Will puts her arms around Ladybug and smiles sadly, "Thanks Ladybug."
"Sheesh, and I thought sitting in Phantom's lap was weird." Irma remarks then thinks for a couple seconds. "Actually, that one still wins."
Ninja gives Irma a strange look. "What the juice is that supposed to mean?"
Irma smirks, "You would have to be there to understand."
"Uh huh…" Ninja tosses the Golden Tiger Claws to Irma and gives her a stern look. "You able to go to the Sanctum Sanctorum with your suitcases and come back without any trouble?"
Irma nods and crosses her index and middle finger under the Shen-Gong-Wu. "Of course, you can. I can handle that, but why are you not coming?"
"Who said I wasn't?" Ninja grabs the suitcases off her bed getting her to realize what he is talking about.
"Oh…" 'There goes my chance of a small thrill ride.' Irma thinks sourly. 'You screw up once, and he thinks you're going to mess up again.' "Golden Tiger Claws!" Irma opens a portal with the claws and smiles at Ninja who raises an eyebrow at her. "You want me to go first?"
"Uh, duh?" Ninja remarks back getting Irma to roll her eyes.
"Fine." Irma jumps into the portal with Ninja following her.
Ladybug pulls out of the hug and sits down on the bed. "I'm sorry I couldn't be there to help you guys." Ladybug starts.
"Marinette, you didn't know what would happen." Will admits not liking that her friend was feeling guilty for being absent from the battle.
"I know, but Randy could have gotten me to join."
"He said you were busy fighting another villain, and he didn't know how much time we had until we fought them."
"I know." Ladybug gets up and shakes her head. "Unfortunately, I had something happen to me the following day too. I wouldn't have been able to handle it as I did if I helped you guys fight."
Will frowns, "What happened?"
Ladybug becomes a little uncomfortable talking about the situation. "Hawkmoth set us up and tricked one of my teammates to work for him." Will's eyes widen. "From there, he tried to take something my mentor was protecting." Ladybug starts trying to find the right words.
Will sees her friend's uncomfortable face. "Marinette, you don't have to explain everything that happened."
Ladybug gives Will an appreciative smile. "Thanks Will, but you deserve a small explanation." She takes a deep breath to calm her nerves. "Hawkmoth was after the Miracle Box. This box is where I originally got my Miraculous, and my master gave it to me and Chat Noir. Hawkmoth found out who my master was and used my old teammate against me by having her control everyone in Paris."
"Oh boy…"
Ladybug nods, "Yeah, Hawkmoth learned the identities of my team except for me and Chat Noir." Ladybug looks out the window a far away look in her eyes. "My master made the choice to hand the Guardianship to me so Hawkmoth would be unable to locate the box, but by doing that, he lost his memories connected to the Miraculous."
"So, you don't have a master or mentor anymore?"
The tears start escaping Ladybug's eyes. "I don't. He's still alive, but he sacrificed his memories to protect the box."
"I get that Marinette." Will gets off the bed and pushes Ladybug's head to look at Will. "If he's not dead, then he's not officially gone. You'll still be able to talk to him later."
Ladybug smiles feeling a little assured by those words. "Thanks Will, but the situation with Hawkmoth has gone south now that he knows the identities of my teammates except Chat Noir."
"You're worried for their safety."
"That obvious?"
Will chuckles, "Trust me. I was always worried about something when it came to my duty. Whether it was grades or my job as a Guardian, I always had my friends to pull me through."
"None of my friends know though." Ladybug points out.
"Yeah, but we know. Danny, Randy, and I know you are busy Marinette, but we're still there to help you." Will starts understanding why Marinette was barely talking about her heroic life. "Do you not trust us?"
"You and Randy learned about my secret when Time User brought us back in time. I was upset that you guys learned about my secret without my consent. I never got over that until earlier today when Randy and I talked about it." Ladybug admits looking at Will apologetically.
"You were upset that we knew your secret, yet you still told us your story when we went to eat." Will points out.
"Yeah, I didn't want to tell you guys. So, I made an abridged story of my heroic life and left out specific details."
"Like what?"
"Well, I left out Chat Noir and I fighting against Hawkmoth who wants our Miraculous to make some wish or something like that, and he uses the negative emotions people give off to cause terror in the city by turning them into monsters we call Akumas."
"I meant your heroic part. What did you leave out of that?" Will asks getting Ladybug to sigh realizing that Will caught her trying to move the other part of her job.
"I left out that my Miraculous has a magical partner called Tikki, and she is the one who allows me to transform into what you see now."
"And?" Will encourages Ladybug to continue.
"That literally the only people who knew were Danny and Master Fu, my mentor."
Will makes a surprised face. "Wait, Danny knew about this?"
"Well, he knew who I was and about Tikki, but he didn't know anything else."
"Did you feel upset about him knowing?"
Ladybug closes her eye and crosses her arms. "I was, but he figured it would be nice to have someone to talk to about hero work. I agreed since he made sense, and it was closer to the start of our hero careers."
"How long has he known?"
"About ten or eleven months now." Ladybug admits. She looks Will in the eyes and frowns, "I know I've been a bit selfish keeping you guys away from knowing my secrets Will, but my mentor was always specific on having no one learn my identity. I never told him that Danny knew or about the time travel event that got you and Randy to know."
"Then why did you?"
"Because I was scared about being betrayed!" Ladybug yells getting Will to flinch at the sudden noise. "I was scared for nearly two months when Danny revealed our secrets to each other. I became even more scared when you guys were forced to learn about it as well. You can't expect me to let my guard down about this!"
Will takes a calm breath and frowns, "Guess I'm being a little harsh about it." 'Especially since I did start the same way.'
"I'm sorry for yelling Will, but this secret is very important to me…"
Will holds her hand up getting Ladybug to shut her mouth. "I get it Marinette."
"You do?"
Will sighs, "Yeah, before I moved to Heatherfield, my old friends and classmates were talking ang thinking bad things behind my back. I thought it was just the mood and will go by in a few days, but it only got worse over time. I guess it was to force me to join with my team as their leader, but I can't stop and help think about how I was treated before I became who I am today."
"I guess that makes us a bit more relatable, huh?"
Will snickers but smiles at Ladybug. "Yeah, I guess it does."
"Do you forgive me?"
"I do." She pulls Ladybug into a hug and whispers, "Do it again, and the three of us are going to have a nice 'chat' with you though."
Ladybug smiles nervously, "Understood."
"Good…" Will takes a second when she realizes that Irma and Ninja are not in the room. "I wonder what's taking them so long to get back."
Ninja stares at the tied Irma on the floor. "You going to try and sneak off again?" He asks her.
"Could I get a rain check on that question?" Irma asks hoping to avoid the question.
"No."
"Darn it."
"You think we should trust him?" Aelita asks as she and Danny sit in the kitchen thinking about their conversation with T'Challa.
Danny grabs his glass of water and shrugs, "I don't know. On one hand we know nothing about this kingdom called Wakanda, but he also could be lying to our faces. I feel like he's telling the truth about his kingdom and wanting to test the Avengers, but it feels like he is leaving things out."
"Duh, he doesn't need to tell us everything, and if he is leaving out specific details, it might mean he doesn't know all of them." Aelita counters getting a nod from Danny.
"That could be true." Danny gulps down his drink when they feel the mansion shake. Danny drops his glass and looks up. "Earthquake?"
"No sir, it seems that we have gotten another unwanted party guest. This one being a giant unstable blob of 'goo' as you would put it." Jarvis answers getting a dull look from the teens.
"And you didn't tell us earlier because…?" Danny asks curious as to how their unwanted guest has entered the building.
"You two were busy talking with our other guest. I figured it would be better to let Miss Wasp know instead. If you must know, the others are at Liberty Island taking care of the threat."
"Thanks Jarvis." Aelita says as she and Danny transform into their hero forms. "Where is it now?"
"The visitor is going through the main halls now with Wasp and Captain America on route to meet it."
"Then we better take care of that thing first." Phantom says determined to stop this intruder. The teens fly through the ceiling and into the middle hallway of the second floor just as the blob turns the corner. "Ok, I have no idea what to call that thing other than Gooey."
"You really think it's time for that?" Angelic Code asks sarcastically as she brings up her scanning screen. She reads the scan of the monster and raises an eyebrow. "Huh, evidently it does have a name. Doughboy."
"Doughboy?" Phantom raises an eyebrow at the name. "It fits…I guess."
"Yep, and it was designed to withstand almost anything coming at it."
"Even high energy and cold temperatures?"
"Seems like it."
Phantom looks at Doughboy as it slowly moves at them. "Well, time to test that…"
"Guys!" Wasp yells as she flies between the teens and stops looking at Doughboy in disgust. "Ew, is that our intruder?"
"Yep."
"Good thing it's slow then." Wasp looks at Angelic Code. "You going to activate the defenses and take it out?"
"It'll probably eat that up or shrug it off." Wasp gives her a confused and disgusted look. "It's made to withstand almost everything."
Wasp smirks, "Then it's a good thing we're the lower percent of something that could hurt it." Wasp make her hand glow and starts firing her stingers as she flies at the monster.
Angelic Code watches as the monster gets hit a couple times and roars in pain. 'She hurt it?' She thinks finding it a little odd that Wasp hurt the monster in front of them.
Wasp watches in surprise as the monster starts moving faster and continues her barrage of stingers at the monster. "Ok then, I take it back." She moves to the left, down, then up to avoid the monster as it slams into the wall, ceiling, and floor trying to attack her. "Not slow." She stops firing and flies around the monster avoiding it frontal assault.
"But it is going to be cold." Phantom says as he punches Doughboy in the side only to find his fist get stuck. The monster stops and looks at Phantom with an evil grin. "I would think twice before looking at me like that." Phantom gets slammed into the wall before he could activate his ice.
"Phantom!"
Captain America jumps on top of the monster slamming his fists hard onto the top getting it to squish down a bit before it retaliated by pushing Cap right into the wall leaving a small indent. Wasp shoots forward and fires her stinger rapidly getting the monster to roar in pain and chase after her releasing both males from its hold. Cap grunts from the force and falls from the hole, and Phantom groans phasing out of the wall landing on the ground next to Captain America. Wasp continues firing her stingers repeatedly at the creature when two pink orbs fly at the monster's open mouth and enter it. The monster stops chews on the orbs and frowns not feeling any satisfaction from eating the orbs.
Everyone watches as the monster starts glowing pink from the inside then explodes into multiple pieces covering Wasp completely in the goo while Phantom grabs Captain America's shoulder and turns them intangible while Cap puts his arm up to block the goo from hitting his face. Cap waits for the sound of the goo to stop and lowers his arm a little only to be surprised to find his body looking different. Phantom removes his hand getting Cap to look at Phantom as they became tangible.
"What was that?" Cap asks Phantom.
"I made you intangible." Phantom answers getting a raised eyebrow from the man. "I touched you and allowed the goo to go through you instead of on you. My intangibility allows me to phase myself and anyone I am touching through things. Saves time from having to take multiple showers a day."
Cap nods getting an idea of what Phantom is telling him. "That sounds pretty useful."
"By the way, where is you shield? I thought you had it when you came in with the others."
"I left it behind with the others when we got back. I'm still having a hard time believing all of this." Cap admits as he looks at the mess.
"We'll worry about that later. The others are fighting more of these at Liberty Island, and I doubt they're having much luck fighting more of these."
"You're right."
Angelic Code watches Wasp cough and wipe the goo off her face. "Ugh, I do not recommend getting eaten." Wasp remarks spitting out the little bit of 'goo' out of her mouth. "I'm going to be needing a shower after this."
"I see your point." Cap remarks to Phantom getting a nod from the teen. "We're still going to need to help the others first though."
"Just turn me intangible and get this gunk off me before I actually start puking." Wasp begs before getting shot by a laser making the come off her with her flying back and hitting the ground hard.
The others turn their attention to the person who fired at her and glare at the man in his purple HYDRA baron suit, a tight mask, and yellow boots and gloves. "Hello Captain America, it has been a long time." The man says pointing his pistol at Cap.
Captain America narrows his eyes at the man in front of him. "Zemo." Cap runs at Zemo avoiding the shots Zemo shoots at him. Cap jumps and kicks the gun out of Zemo's hand then kicks Zemo onto the ground landing with his left foot on the man's chest.
"Excellent, I was worried you wouldn't be as I remembered you." Zemo says getting Phantom and Angelic Code to narrow their eyes at the man. "I wouldn't want you to be anything less than perfectness!" Zemo grabs Captain America and kicks Cap away getting the World War II hero to slide a few feet away in a battle stance. Zemo pushes off his hands and lands on his feet. Zemo moves his foot under his rapier and kicks up catching it by the handle. "All these years, I thought the Red Skull had defeated you." Zemo swings his sword getting ready to finish his enemy for many years. "Now, now I can have my revenge!" He jumps at Cap pointing his sword at him, but Cap blocks the blade from cutting him. Zemo kicks Cap away from him, and the two men start circling each other waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
"We need to help him." Angelic Code tells Phantom.
Phantom glances at his cousin groaning on the floor who is only slightly unconscious then at Captain America. "Get Wasp out of here and help the others at Liberty Island." Phantom orders Angelic Code.
"What will…"
"Don't worry about it. Our team needs help, and you already know how to handle the monsters. They're going to need all the help they can get."
Angelic Code nods, picks Wasp up, and flies away from the scene leaving Phantom along with two long time war enemies. Phantom sees Cap take a hit from the rapier and realizes that Cap did not have his shield. Phantom raises his hands and fires at Zemo's hand as it moves to hit Cap again. The blast hits Zemo's hand knocking the rapier out of it getting the man to glare at Phantom. "You should learn to stay out of personal business child." Zemo warns the boy.
"And you should learn to keep your eyes on your surroundings." Phantom remarks just as Cap punches Zemo away from him. "Where's your shield at?"
"I left it on the computer table thingy in the room where we left the plane." Cap answers with no hesitation.
"I'm on it!" Phantom flies away to the Assembly Hall knowing exactly where Captain America is talking about.
Cap glares at Zemo as the man gets back on his feet. "You really want to keep this up Zemo?" Cap asks as Zemo grabs his rapier.
"You should stop asking such obvious questions dear Captain." Zemo taunts pointing the weapon at Cap. "One of these days you will learn that I'm going to be the one who will finally be the one who killed Captain America!" Zemo charges at Captain America and swings his rapier, but Cap stops it with his arm again then kicks Zemo away.
"I might not know how you evolved your body Zemo, and my old team might be gone, but there is one thing that I do know." Cap runs at Zemo and sees Phantom come out of the ceiling landing behind Zemo. "I got some new people who are still willing to back me up." Phantom throws the shield bouncing off Zemo's back and right into Captain America's right hand. Cap slams his shield into Zemo's head making the man fly back into the wall.
Zemo shakes his head trying to ignore the pain and spinning that Captain America's shield did to it but realizes the situation he is in when he sees Phantom floating next to Captain America. 'I know when it's time to count my losses.' Zemo thinks hating that he was unable to get the one-on-one fight with his long-time enemy. "You might win this one Captain America, but I will be back to have your head."
"And how exactly are you going to leave this place?" Phantom asks raising his right hand with his ecto-energy covering it.
"Simple." Zemo pulls out a small bomb and throws it across the room. He pushes the button on his belt getting the blow to explode covering the whole room in fire and smoke catching the heroes off guard for him to leave the premise without them noticing.
Phantom goes intangible to avoid the blast of the small bomb, and Captain America blocks the blast with his shield only moving back a few feet from the impact. They turn their attention to where Zemo was only for him to be gone. "He used the explosive as a distraction." Cap says not liking the fact that an enemy from his past is on the loose.
"You want to chase after him?" Phantom asks.
Cap looks at Phantom and frowns, "No, we got other things to worry about." He looks around noticing that the women are gone. "What happened to Wasp and the other one?"
"They're heading to the island to help the others."
Cap nods, "Then we better go and help them any way we can."
Phantom smirks, "Good thing I know how to fly the Quinjets."
Bunnyx smiles as she sees Captain America and Phantom head to the hanger and moves the screen forward stopping it right as the Avengers defeat the monsters on Liberty Island. "Saw that coming. Most of them are going to need showers after that." She remarks walking away to a different screen. She stops and changes the scene to Marinette and Alya talking to each other while watching over the three children. Bunnyx sighs as she sees the boy and girl still unconscious on the bed. "So much has happened, and this Marinette is still before she became the Guardian. Glad I didn't give her the children after she told Alya. They already have a lot on their plate as it is." Bunnyx takes a deep breath calming her nerves just wanting to get this over with. She walks through the portal and sees her friends look at her with surprised faces.
"Wow, that was fast." Alya says not getting much time to watch over the children. "We only had them for ten minutes when you last came."
Bunnyx smirks, "Good thing I know when to leave and come back at the right time."
William, who is sitting in Marinette's lap trying to grab her pigtail, stops and looks at Bunnyx. He yells happily and reaches out to her getting her to smile at him. She walks to William and leans down. "Gah." William says trying to grab her.
"Looks like someone is happy to see me." Bunnyx says as she takes William from Marinette's lap. William smiles happily and starts reaching for Bunnyx's ears getting a giggle from the girls and a small smile from Bunnyx. "Why am I not surprised?"
"He's been reaching for a lot of things around here since you left those two here." Alya says pointing to the unconscious kids on the bed. "By the way, are you able to carry all of three of them at once? It looked like you had a hard time carrying two of them last time."
"She's not doing it alone." Everyone looks as Future Bunnyx walks out of her Burrow getting surprised looks from Alya and Marinette. "What's with the surprised look? Did you actually think mini-me would be doing this herself?"
Marinette starts looking between the two freaking out inside her mind, and Alya looks between the two pointing between the older and younger Bunnyx unsure of how she should comprehend the situation. "Wait, how can there be two of you from different times…" Alya starts and realizes the answer just as she asks it. "You're from the…" Older Bunnyx covers Alya's mouth before she could finish her sentence.
"Look Alya, I know your need to be a reporter for the Ladyblog is big and all, but I would like it if you don't blurt it out that someone from the future is here in Marinette's room while her parents are downstairs." Older Bunnyx reminds the teen.
"She does like keeping that up to date." Younger Bunnyx says getting William to look at her confusingly as his hands hold her right ear.
Both Bunnyx look at Marinette to see her panicked look getting them to glance at each other. Alya notices the exchange and looks at Marinette seeing the panicked look on Marinette's face. "Oh boy, she's going to blow." Alya remarks.
William looks at Marinette seeing her panicked look and starts laughing at her face getting everyone to look at him. William claps his hands happily getting a random bubble to surround Marinette's head surprise Alya and the younger Bunnyx. Marinette screams in the bubble bringing her hands up to her face and stops as her hands stop on the orb surrounding her head looking around seeing the confused and amused looks on their faces. "W-w-why are t-there two Bunnyx in my room, and why is there a bubble on my head?" Marinette asks only for no one to hear her.
"Anyone understand what she just said?" Younger Bunnyx asks.
"Gah!" William yells happily only getting younger Bunnyx's attention as he claps again getting the bubble to disappear.
"Ah!" Marinette yelps and falls back with her chair hitting the ground with only her head.
"What just happened?" Alya asks.
"I don't know." Marinette groans as she gets up. She wipes the dust on her pants and looks between her two guests. "I don't think I can take any more surprise visits right now."
"Marinette, is everything alright up there?" Marinette's mom asks getting Marinette to freeze in surprise.
"That's our cue to leave." Older Bunnyx says as she jumps onto the desk then onto the second floor where the bed is. She creates a burrow and picks up both children while Young Bunnyx runs up the stairs.
"I'm ok mama!" Marinette yells.
The two Bunnyx leave through the burrow and ignore what was happening between Marinette and her mom. "Were we really going to get caught by her mom?" Young Bunnyx asks as she follows her older self.
"Nah, I just didn't want to be stopped by Alya and asked multiple questions about our power and hero life." Older Bunnyx admits giving her younger self a smirk.
Younger Bunnyx chuckles, "Nice." William looks around the burrow finding all the different circles and white room interesting.
"Anyway, we'll need to drop the kids back after Randy takes Marinette home."
"So, Randy took Ladybug to see Will and Irma then." Young Bunnyx summarizes not finding it surprising.
"Yeah, he also sped Marinette's interest in finding out about the secrets to the Miracle Box." The Older Bunnyx stops at a burrow and starts fast forwarding through the time stream.
"So how long until she accidentally frees the Kwamis?"
"Luckily, it won't be until after the New York trip."
Young Bunnyx frowns, "Oh yeah, forgot we entered that competition."
Older Bunnyx stops moving the time stream on the burrow and glances at her younger self. "Yeah, you'll be in for a surprise when you guys visit." She looks back at the circle and continues going through the time stream.
"Good thing I can check it out…"
"Don't!" Younger Bunnyx flinches getting William to look at her then at the Older Bunnyx. "Trust me when I say that this is one event you do not want to watch."
"Does someone die again?" Young Bunnyx asks feeling dread in her stomach.
"Gah." William starts wiggling in Young Bunnyx's arms getting her to look at him noticing that he is pointing at a specific circle far away from the Older Bunnyx.
"No one dies this time." Older Bunnyx admits getting a sigh of relief from her younger self. She stops moving time again and looks at them as she adjusts her hold on the two kids. She sees William looking at a specific screen in her burrow and looks at the screen frowning when she sees that it is his birth mother. "Probably should have covered his eyes from seeing any of the screens." She mutters sadly.
"Who is that…Oh…" Young Bunnyx sees a younger Will come onto the screen and winces realizing William was looking and reaching at the screen. "Life just loves reminding me of the choice I made." She looks at William and walks closer to the screen her older self was at. "What point in time are we going to?"
Older Bunnyx stops the screen and nods her head as she sees Ninja and Ladybug leave the Sanctum Sanctorum. "This one." Older Bunnyx opens a burrow getting Will, Irma, Wong, and Dr. Strange to look at the burrow. The two Bunnyx exit the burrow with the children in their hands getting Will and Irma to smile as they see their brother.
"William!" Will runs to her little brother who turns and looks at Will. Will takes her brother out of Young Bunnyx's arms. "Oh, it is so good to see that you're ok." Will kisses her brother's cheek getting him to giggle. "You must have been so worried about me these past couple days."
Irma walks to the Older Bunnyx and stares at her brother. "How long has my brother been asleep?" She asks the older woman.
"He's been asleep since mini-me got him out of the Galactic Kids Next Door base a couple days ago."
Irma's eyes widen. "He's been asleep for almost 3 days?!"
Older Bunnyx shakes her head. "Nope, mini-me took them into the past for someone to watch the kids the past couple days while you guys recovered. He's only been asleep about fifteen or twenty minutes."
"Wait," Will starts trying to understand, "you mean to tell us that our siblings have not seen us for only a few minutes while it has been two days for us?"
"That's exactly what I'm telling you."
"How can something like that be even possible?" Irma asks finding time travel confusing.
"Time travel works in mysterious ways." Older Bunnyx remarks as she walks to an empty room in the builder. "Anyway, I need to lay these two down and get back to my time."
Everyone watches her leave getting everyone except William to be surprised on how calm she is. "How much experience does she have traveling through time?" Dr. Strange wonders.
"One with her power would think twice before going through time." Wong muses finding it to be odd as well. "The number of outcomes for meddling with time can create multiple timelines without even meaning to."
'Don't want to tell them I already know that I'm doing that.' "Well, she is older me. She already knew I would need help bringing the kids back to the present." Bunnyx says getting everyone to look at her.
"Yes, but one should not be using her powers so much to alter the time stream that…"
"Save it for someone who actually knows very little about time travel." Older Bunnyx says as she walks back to them.
"We're just saying…"
"I know Dr. Strange, but I've been time traveling for years. I don't need people to tell me how to do my job."
"Yeah, we can take care of things just fine." Young Bunnyx adds.
"You still need training." Older Bunnyx remarks getting the Young Bunnyx to give her a dull look. "Don't give me that look. If it wasn't for me, you would be dead…again."
"How many times have I died?"
Older Bunnyx shrugs, "I lost count after twenty."
"Just twenty?" Irma asks raising an eyebrow.
"I meant million, twenty million. It's probably over thirty now." Everyone's eyes widen at the calm expression on Older Bunnyx's face.
"How are you even sane?" Will asks as she looks at the older women worryingly.
"We're not." Young Bunnyx admits closing her eye and sighing. "I had to stop after seeing myself die almost twenty times. It didn't help that I saw you two die a lot either."
Will and Irma eyes widen in horror. "Pretty sure mini-me already explained that to you guys." Older Bunnyx says getting the girls to remember their talk with Bunnyx after their parents died.
Bunnyx sighs and looks at Will with a serious look. "I never told you what my power is, and truthfully, I barely had time to explain it to Phantom." She glances back at Phantom who nods for her to continue. "I…I can travel and see things going to happen through time."
"Travel through time." Irma mutters as her mind wakes up to hear Bunnyx's explanation.
"I saw multiple things happen in specific part of time, and there was not a single one where your families survived." Bunnyx balls her hands up.
"They never made it?" Will mutters her anger lowering when she hears that explanation.
"The worst part was that there was only timeline where all five of us survived." Bunnyx continues wanting to finish this explanation with explaining it to them again. She shakes her head. "I saw each of us die so many times that…" Bunnyx grits her teeth. "I never wanted to believe that this was the only choice, but my future-self told me that I needed to watch it. I watched fifty timelines, and there were millions of events where things could wrong and not just kill us but the whole city."
Will balls her hands up as Irma's eyes start leaking tears. "What are you getting at?" Will asks hating what she is hearing from Bunnyx's explanation
"They wanted us to be responsible for blowing up the city. They wanted your siblings to join their cause and kill everyone else in the city, but their primary targets are you and your team Will." Bunnyx answers deciding not to leave out the details. "They captured your families, rigged their bodies with bombs to blow up the city, and wanted to make sure that they got you and your team involved in it."
Will's hands start shaking as her mind starts getting clouded by rage of the situation. "They wanted us gone…"
"She did tell us." Irma mutters sadly. "Why does everything have to be so bad recently?"
"Why do you think I tried to get the best outcome?" Young Bunnyx remarks distastefully. "You never had to watch yourself and many other die repeatedly. I tried to see if there was a way to save them, but the ending just never changed. I hated it, and I still do." Young Bunnyx walks away wanting to be alone.
William watches Young Bunnyx disappear and starts wiggling around wanting to make sure she is ok. Will feels her brother's movements and looks at him asking, "What's wrong bro?"
"Bun." William says pointing to where Bunnyx walked away to.
Older Bunnyx walks to William and blocks his view of where her younger self went. "I'm sorry little guy, but mini-me needs to be alone this time." William looks up at her worryingly. "She'll be fine in no time though."
Later that night
Alix stares out the window of her room as she mindlessly cleans the wheels of her roller skates. Fluff just watches her partner from the nightstand as she nibbles on the carrot in her hands. Alix's door slams open getting the pair to jump in surprise. "You done mellowing in self-pity?" Adult Alix asks as she enters the room closing the door behind her.
"Why are you here?" Teen Alix asks raising an eyebrow at Adult Alix's sudden appearance. "I'm pretty sure you didn't need to show up for no reason."
Adult Alix chuckles and sits down next to her younger self as Fluff comes out of vest and goes to eat carrots with the present Fluff. "I know you, mini-me. You're not getting out of this conversation."
"What do you want me to say? That I'm still disturbed about seeing myself and the others dying multiple times? We both know I am."
"True, it is not something you can get over in a short time." Adult Alix admits.
"Then why bother trying to get me to say something?"
Adult Alix gives Teen Alix a smirk, "Because our friends will know something is up, and we're supposed one of the coolest Miraculous wielders out there."
Teen Alix chuckles, "Ok, you got me there. I just hate being reminded of those events."
"Then don't think of the events as a negative thing." Teen Alix gives her adult self a confused look with a raised eyebrow. "Think of it as a motivator to make sure that you will fight to save our planet and our friends from the people who want to destroy them." Teen Alix blinks thinking about those words. "Plus, if we think negatively, then we will not succeed in what we need to achieve."
"What is that?"
Adult Alix jumps and lies down on the bed putting her hands behind her head. "That mini-me is something you're going to have to find out on your own."
"Not much of a motivational speaker."
"We never were." Adult Alix admits getting Teen Alix to snicker. "Besides, I can't tell you everything. It'll spoil the fun."
"Like telling Marinette that I know she is Ladybug?"
"Exactly, she has to be the one to tell you about her secret. If you tell her first, then we can find ourselves in a situation you do not want to be in." Adult Alix explains as she relaxes on the bed. "Either way, the best things that happen are never the things we expect."
Teen Alix looks at Adult Alix with a raised eyebrow seeing the smirk on the woman's face. "If you say so…"
Ladybug stares at the view of Paris from the roof of a random building as her partner, Chat Noir, jumps onto the roof with a small grunt. "Well, this is a pleasant surprise." Chat Noir jokes as he walks to his partner. "You don't normally call me to hang out. Did something big happen that made you think of me?"
Ladybug turns around and gives her partner a sad smile. "Yeah, something did happen…multiple things, and I thought it was about time I let you know some things that happened the past few weeks that didn't involve us as a team."
Chat Noir jumps and sits down on the ledge of the roof getting her to sit down next to him. "I'm all ears My Lady."
Ladybug smiles, "I guess I should start when I first met Phantom…"
Danny sits on his bed in his room staring at the picture of him and Rogue holding each other and sighs missing that they are no longer together. "I know you're upset that she ended all of it, but you need to move on!" Aelita's words flash in his mind again. "I wish it was easy to move on." He mutters sadly. Someone knocks on Danny's door getting him to groan since h did not want to be bothered. "Come in!" Danny turns his head to the door as it opens revealing Odd Della Robbia at his door. "Odd? What are you doing here?"
"Believe it or not, I came here to ask Aelita something, but she seems to be cleaning up some mess she and Stacy made earlier." Odd answers finding the situation a little funny. "I never thought I would see the day Aelita loses her cool and destroy a room while living here."
Danny chuckles, "Yeah, can't argue with you there. Why are you here in my room then?"
"Needed someone I could talk who I could trust without Fury or Shield listening in on the conversation." Odd remarks shutting the door behind him.
"What makes you think they wouldn't have anything on this place?"
"Aelita doesn't trust Fury or Shield after she caught him using Rachel, Maurice, and David to explore the destroyed Hydra building in France." Odd explains getting to nod understanding the reason. "She tell you about that?"
"Yep, she did. She's not happy with Rachel right now, but she's moving past it." Danny admits as Odd walks and sits down on the office chair. "Plus, we got other things to worry about more than Fury trying to hide information about the virtual worlds and Aelita's father."
"Yeah, I heard about Captain America being alive." Odd smirks, "Is he as cool as the news says he is?"
"He is." Danny smirks remembering the recent events he had earlier today. "He never lost his edge when it comes to fighting."
"Awesome! I definitely can't wait to meet him." Odd says fist pumping excitedly. "On another note, I met with Hawkeye earlier." Danny sharply turns to Odd giving him a stern look. "I didn't go to him this time. He came to me privately, honest."
"What happened?" Danny asks cautiously.
Odd leans forward in the chair. "Well, I was watching over the machine on Lyoko that will restore Aelita's dad when he showed up in the room."
"Wait, Hawkeye knows where supercomputer is?" Danny asks not sure if that is a good thing.
Odd winces, "Yeah, he does, but please let me explain everything before you say anything, ok?"
"Fine." Danny crosses his arms and moves to lean against the wall by his bed. "Continue."
"I let him use the supercomputer…"
"Odd!"
"I'm sorry, ok?! I let him use to find any evidence on the woman who framed and got him into this mess."
Danny rubs his nose with his index finger and thumb not liking what Odd is telling him. Danny sighs and shakes his head unsure of what he should say. He gets off the bed and runs his hand though his hair. "I hope you know what you're doing Odd. While I agree his sudden betrayal doesn't make sense, we can't risk something like this to get out."
"I know. Hawkeye told me not to get involved."
"Then don't."
Odd gets off the chair and glares at Danny. "Look, I hate that my mentor is going through all of this, yet I'm stuck doing absolutely nothing while he is out there on the run. If I'm going to help, then I can't do it alone."
Danny looks at Odd cautiously. "You want Aelita's help."
"Yep, she's one of the smartest people and the best hacker I know. I need her to hack some satellites and…"
"Odd, do you even hear yourself?" Danny asks interrupting Odd's explanation. "You want Aelita to hack satellites?! If she does that, she can find herself going to jail Odd! Fury can only do so much, and if that gets out to the public, Aelita's image could be ruined forever as a person. You really want to do that to help a mentor who could probably gather the info he needs better than you?"
Odd lowers his head understanding what Danny is telling and sighs sitting back down on the chair. "You're right." Odd mutters realizing what he was about to have his friend do. "Oh man, this is what they were talking about the last time I tried talking to my mentor. I almost took things a bit too far."
Danny sighs, "Odd…"
Odd puts his hand up before Danny could say anything and get off the chair. "I can still try to have Aelita try to get video proof, but I guess trying to have her go for some of the bigger things from Shield might not be a good idea."
Danny sighs, "Who are we kidding, Aelita probably has Shield on speed dial with her hacking skills."
Odd chuckles, "True, but you're right. I guess my mind started to take another turn on my way here." Odd shakes his head. "That's probably why he told me not to get involved. I still want to help…"
"You will. We might not know how, but you will find a way. I bet you never things like this stop you before."
Odd chuckles, "Oh man, you have no idea. I always was the man ladies loved back at the Kadic Academy."
Danny raises an eyebrow, "Really?"
Odd smiles proudly, "Yep, you're looking at the guy who dated over twenty girls in that school!"
"How many were longer than a day?"
Odd frowns, "Ok, that was harsh, but I'm…" Danny gives him a look getting Odd to sigh. "Fine, only a couple were serious since the others couldn't handle my coolness."
"I could always ask Aelita how bad it was."
Odd make an unamused look. "Very funny, I know your relationship with Rogue went for a while, but you can't expect all relationships to be like that."
Danny looks at the picture of him and Rogue on his nightstand and frowns, "I guess not."
Odd winces, "Ooh, sorry, that's still sensitive subject, huh?"
"A little bit, yeah."
"I mean; you can look at the bright side." Danny gives Odd a strange look as he smiles back. "There are still other people out there that you could date, and if it helps, you might end up getting back together with her in a couple years. Anything is possible, and I doubt this will be the worst breakup you will ever have." Odd blinks a couple times registering what he just said. "I said that wrong. What I meant to say was…"
"I get it Odd, but thanks for trying."
Odd smiles widely and puts his arm on Danny shoulder. "Hey, its no problem, but on a serious note you'll get over her in time. I doubt Rogue will be the only girl you ever date. Aelita is still upset with losing Jeremy, but she's getting past that, and you should too."
Danny snickers but smiles softly. "That's probably the best thing you've said all day."
"There's the smile you needed." Odd remarks not finding Danny's words offensive at all.
"Don't ruin the mood."
Odd puts his hands up in mock surrender. "Sorry, but anyway, I might as well wait until Aelita is done cleaning. You got any video games or music to listen to?"
"I might got us a few games we could play."
Odd smiles, "Cool, show me what you got ghost boy."
"Another base has been destroyed sir." A voice says.
The leader sighs and waves the person away. "Thanks for letting me know. You're dismissed."
"Sir!" The person salutes and leaves the room leaving the leader alone.
"Good thing it's only two bases and not ten. I honestly thought they would be targeting them and taking them down quicker." A person says into the earpiece the leader is wearing.
"I did too, but it seems they're playing it carefully, a little too carefully if I'm honest."
"Definitely, we know they have information on their locations. Its only a matter of time until they start getting rid of the other bases."
"True, but they still won't be prepared for us. Have any of the teams been successful in getting opposing forces from being able to join?"
"Unfortunately, the second base failed in killing the Guardians, but they failed because of an outside force we didn't know about until then. Luckily this force took down three of the five targets. They hoped to defeat the other two, but their friends stopped them from going into the trap."
The leader growls, "Figures, teens always look out for teens and don't care about anything unless it involves family."
"Looks that way to me too. Fortunately, Kim Possible has lost almost all interest with her past deeds as a hero. Only two more weeks and she will stop caring about her past heroic deeds completely."
"Good. What about the mutants?"
"The Xavier Institute is a no go. They got too many mutants that know about us and could tell if we try to get in at all."
"Guess we have to go for plan D or E for that one then."
"None of our team has found Magneto either. Man is hiding too well for us to find."
"Magneto was a low shot anyway. It's better that we didn't get involved with him and his magnetic powers."
"Agreed. Our team in Tremorton is almost ready to infect that robot, XJ9, with a virus that will cause her to go on a rampage to destroy the planet."
The leader lowers his head and mentally sighs, "Ok, keep me posted when that plan will move into action."
"You got it Numbuh 1. Oh, I better go before I'm spotted. I'll send the rest of the updates through the T.E.N.T. Talk to you later."
"Same to you." Numbuh 1 says as the conversation ends. Numbuh 1 sighs, "This is starting to get a little ridiculous. I'm against teens and adults ruining kid lives, but…" The kid shakes his head. "When did the Galactic Kids Next Door start taking things to the extreme? Innocent kids could die from that virus infected robot, and hundreds if not thousands of innocent kids could have died from those bombs. Maurice was right about the invasion. I should have called it off when I had the chance." He feels a pain in his mind and hisses, "No, everything is going as planned, and the leader of the Galactic Kids Next Door will get the new recruits he needs to end the adult tyranny."
Well, that is one way to end the chapter. This should wrap up the Guardian's Destruction Arc, and yes, I came up with the name now. Next Arc will focus on the New York trip, and it will be major Marinette, Adrien, and Alix focused along with others joining for the ride. R&R
