Grace Potter stood at the kitchen counter stirring her tea. She was going to take it out to watch the Muggle television before going to bed. Even though her husband insisted on having the thing in the house, which Grace thought was a ridiculous contraption at first, she had to admit she actually grew fond of it. Her husband was upstairs, sleeping
It was blizzarding outside, and Grace liked it because it always gave her a sense of warmth and coziness. Grace left the kitchen and went to sit in her favorite easy chair when there was a sudden knock at the door which made her jump. Grace set her tea down on a table that was beside her chair and went to answer the door.
She opened the door and someone collapsed right into Grace. She was shocked, but even more so when she realized who fell into her.
"Eliza!" Grace showed complete surprise at seeing the daughter she hadn't seen in nearly a year.
"Mum." Eliza said quietly.
"Mum, I'm so sorry, I need help." Eliza said, and Grace could tell she was fighting back tears.
"What's wrong, honey?" Grace cooed as though Eliza was a six-year old that had a bad dream.
"This." Eliza said. Just then, Eliza stood up so that Grace could see her properly. Eliza was very obviously pregnant.
"Eliza!" Grace said very shocked.
"I think it's my time, Mum." Eliza blurted out, and Grace saw that Eliza didn't look well at all. She was pale, looked as though she hadn't eaten in days, Grace was once a healer, but found the job to be way too stressful.
Grace pulled Eliza in, thinking that they should apparate to St. Mungo's.
"Eliza, what happened? Where have you been all this time, and who is the father?" She asked, looking at Eliza's very pregnant midsection.
This was still shocking to Grace, Eliza had been working a rather mundane job at the Ministry for the last five years. She never seemed to be completely happy ever since her boyfriend ran off on her, and she was always in the same place, never advancing, never changing. Eliza then took off suddenly, leaving nothing but a note for her parents, and quitting her job at the Ministry, and Grace was very worried about her daughter, and now she turns up in the middle of the night, pregnant and obviously quite famished.
"Eliza, tell me, what's going on? What happened?" Grace said sternly now. She wanted answers.
Eliza began to cry. "Oh, Mum, it's terrible, I don't know what to do." She blurted out through tears. "I'm so sorry, I'm in so much trouble, I don't know where to start." Eliza said through her tears.
"Well, Eliza, start at the beginning." Grace said calmly.
