Here we go again! This will be what is essentially my first wholly original chapter. Lots of the others had original content, but they still had a lot of stuff from canon. I really hope you all like this just because I want this to be good. Also the poll is still up and only four people have voted. I don't want to make a decision off of four people, but if no one else votes I'll get the message especially when the next chapter is ready. Always remember that I don't own a lot of this stuff, so remember to credit the original releases.
Chapter 10: How We Fight
In a large, almost empty space, six students walked in eager to ready themselves.
Izuku was in the front wearing his gym uniform and his digivice. He let out a sigh. "Man, we sure are lucky. Students from all over were booking training grounds faster than I thought they would. It's already been a week."
Yaoyorozu was behind in her gym uniform. "I suppose that's because of the Sports Festival."
Tokoyami walked beside her and nodded. "Yes. Everyone is trying to get stronger as fast as possible."
Iida came behind him, and swung his arm upward. "We should expect nothing less from the students of UA."
Uraraka walked beside him, and shared similar sentiments to Izuku. "Yeah, but that just shows how lucky we are, right?"
Tokoyami agreed to that. "Yes. We are lucky to have gained access to this space. We will use it to further progress our abilities."
That's when an obvious question came to Yaoyorozu. "Speaking of which. What is this place?"
Izuku was quick to answer. "Well since we're all gonna train together I figured that we'd need a special place since there were so many of us, so I looked throughout the school grounds to find the right place. This is the place I chose Gym Beta. It's one of the gym's made specifically with Cementoss' quirk in mind. The difference with the other one-" He then pointed at the bleachers at one end of the gym. "-is that there's a place to sit here."
Iida placed a hand on his chin in thought. "I see. I suppose the means you planned for us to do this in turns, yes?"
Izuku nodded. "Yep. And now that you mention it Iida. I thought you should go first."
Iida was a little surprised. Not only did Izuku take it upon himself to reserve a spot for them, but he also had a plan set for them. "You truly are a natural leader Midoriya."
Izuku was a little confused by that. "Huh?"
Yaoyorozu then explained. "I think he's referring to how you plan things out even when they don't have something to do with your knights."
Uraraka agreed. "Yeah. You're kinda like a big brother."
Tokoyami somewhat agreed. "You've taken the burden of leadership and ingrained it into your very being."
Izuku was caught a little off guard. "Wait, hold on. I don't. Well I guess I, but I'm."
Yaoyarozu giggled then tried to refocus the boy. "Come on class rep, let's get things started."
Izuku then came down to earth. "Right. Let's go."
Within the Digivice Impmon sighed. "Come on dude! Why is he still so nervous?"
Dorumon excused the boy with his own thoughts. "Remember Impmon, he practically raised us. He's used to being confident around things he knows inside and out."
Veemon then pointed out what was important. "Hey at least he's got human friends now. I call that progress."
The students walked to the bleachers and while many took their seats, Izuku and Iida held back.
They left some distance between them and the others.
Iida found himself getting a little excited. "Well Midoriya, who have you chosen to be my opponent?"
Izuku had something to say first. "Hold on. I'd like to establish something first. Some knights will also view this as important training, so they'll start at the Champion level. If the training isn't really pushing either of you then there's no point."
Iida nodded. "I understand."
Izuku then went into action. "Veemon."
In a bright flash the named knight appeared. He seemed fairly shocked. "I'm still not used to being called on like that."
The three students at the bleachers were fairly confused.
Uraraka voiced it first. "Wait, Veemon? I know he fought Bakugo, but is he the one for the job?"
Tokoyami then reminded the girl of something important. "Think back to that moment. Veemon surprised all of us."
Yaoyarozu had a similar idea. "I see. That means he's hiding something."
To their expectation, Izuku activated a program. In his hand then appeared Raidramon's armor. Something that shocked the students.
Iida was fascinated by this. He was ready to fight Flamedramon, but an unknown may push him further.
Izuku handed the item to Veemon and began walking away.
Veemon looked down at the armor with new found familiarity. He could feel the power flowing through it. "Veemon armor digivolve to..." With that the armor was engulfed in lightning that then covered his body. When it dissipated his new quadrupedal form showed itself. "Raidramon!"
The other students were left stunned.
Tokoyami spoke of the new found pattern. "First fire and now lightning. It's almost as if he's meant to be a beacon, defeating and saving others with his light."
Uraraka sweat dropped. "I guess that's one way to look at it."
Izuku had gotten out of the way. "If you guys are okay with it I'll be the referee. Are you ready?"
Iida nodded. "I am ready."
Raidramon was also prepared. "Yeah."
Izuku then initiated the battle. "Begin!"
The two quickly sprung into action dashing toward each other. They moved too quickly and ended up passing each other. The two then quickly turned to face each other again.
Uraraka was surprised by how fast they were. "Woah. That was fast."
Yaoyarozu was already making her analysis. "It seems that Raidramon is built for speed. That's opposed to Flamedramon's more power based structure."
Tokoyami had his own thoughts. "He's becoming a jack of all trades. What makes me curious is if one day he may become a master."
Iida once more dashed at Raidramon.
Raidramon's mouth then filled with electricity. "Thunderbolt!" A bolt of lightning shot out from his mouth.
With impressive control Iida managed to drift out of the way. When He made it to Raidramon he used his quirk to deliver a powerful kick into Raidramon head.
The strike managed to knock away Raidramon a few feet.
Raidramon shook his head to numb the pain. "Yep, you're faster than Garurumon."
That filled Iida with some level of pride. Since the beginning Izuku's knights seemed indomitable, but this was his chance to truly see where they could stand next to him.
The three protrusions on Raidramon's back were then covered in blue lightning. "Blue Thunder!" The lightning then shot out and merged into one large orb of electricity.
Iida knew an attack like that was difficult to avoid, but he wasn't going to let himself lose. He dashed forward and before the attack got too close he jumped above it and angled his feet to jet towards Raidramon.
Raidrmon stopped his attack and aimed his horn at Iida. It then became covered in electricity. "Lightning blade!" Then in a vertical arc lightning shot upward.
That forced Iida's mind to find a solution. Which he did by moving one of his legs to shoot him towards the side.
Raidreamon was surprised by that. He remembered how even Mirio had a hard time with him, but Iida's simpler yet efficient technique had caught him off guard.
Iida's feet slammed into Raidramon's back. Then he leapt back by using Raidramon as a springboard.
Raidramon fell onto his stomach.
The match was over and Iida had claimed victory
The students all had their own thoughts of what had happened.
Uraraka was impressed by the display. "Woah! Did you guys see that? It all happened so fast."
Yaoyarozu had finished processing. "There seems to be an adjustment issue. Iida was able to adapt quickly against Raidramon, but Raidramon's adaptability was lacking in speed and efficiency."
Tokoyami had interpreted Yaoyarozu's words. "The beast of lightning has not yet learnt how to claim his prey."
Izuku walked up to Raidramon and knelt down. "You really have been improving, though you did seem very hesitant to me."
Raidramon looked at Izuku. "It's still pretty hard to aim some of those attacks, so I wasn't using my maximum output."
Iida came up to the two breathing deeply. "I wouldn't have known."
The two turned to look at the student a little confused.
Iida explained. "The magnitude of your attacks made them difficult to avoid, so I actually had to push myself to win."
Raidramon was surprised by that. He smiled as he stood up. "Thank you. You've shown me where my weaknesses are. I'm sure we'll both improve."
Iida nodded with a smile of his own.
Izuku smiled at the two. "Alright. Let's get to the next match."
Iida nodded and made his way to the bleachers.
Raidramon came up to Izuku. "This was good for me."
Izuku almost laughed. "I remember how much you used to hate losing."
Raidramon snickered. "Yeah? Well Impmon's the only one who has to stay a child." That was half the truth. While he had matured it was something simpler to him. Now he can finally feel the progress of his training. To him it finally felt like losing was a step of the process.
Izuku laughed. "Yeah, I guess that's true. Now let's get going."
In a flash of light Raidramon returned to the Digivice.
Izuku then walked behind Iida.
When the two got to their classmates Uraraka sprang up. "That was amazing you two! That finishing move was super cool Iida."
Yaoyarozu nodded. "Yes. I can see the hard work you've put into your training."
Tokoyami agreed. "To defeat a knight with so much conviction shows how much your own is."
Iida brought his flat hand to his chest. "I am honored by your praise."
Izuku gave Iida a smile. "You both really did great." He then turned to the rest. "Well Uraraka it's a good thing you stood up because you're next."
Urarak jumped in place. "Wait, me? Really?"
Izuku turned his head a little confused at the question. "Well, yeah. It's why we're here."
Iida tried giving his classmate some encouragement. "That's right. We are preparing for a truly momentous opportunity. You need to make sure you are ready enough to succeed."
Yaoyarozu nodded. "We all want to win, don't we?"
For a moment Uraraka looked down, hiding her face. When she looked at Izuku her face became intimidatingly serious. "Alright. Let's go!"
Everyone was silent for a moment.
Izuku then turned around nervously. "O..k..." He then walked away from the bleachers.
Uraraka then walked behind him and away from everyone else.
Yaoyarozu let out a breath. "I hope this isn't a common occurrence."
Iida sat down with his own thoughts. "While I commend the dedication, I do hope she can learn to express it in a more tamed manner."
Tokoyami then shared. "I just don't like how loud she gets."
Izuku and Uraraka were now a safe distance away from the others.
Uraraka was getting antsy. "Alright Midoriya, who's it gonna be?"
Izuku then called on his chosen knight. "Gabumon."
In a flash of light the named knight appeared.
Gabumon tried to look at Uraraka seriously.
Uraraka's own serious look intensified.
Gabumon looked back with a failing glare from behind Izuku's legs.
Izuku let out a sigh. "Gabumon, what's wrong?
Gabumon responded cautiously. "I... don't like the way she's looking at me."
Izuku was worried this would happen. "Gabummon, she isn't going to try and steal your pelt."
Gabumon looked up at Izuku. "Are you sure?"
Izuku gave the knight a small smile. "I promise you."
Gabumon then stopped using Izuku as a hiding place and stepped forward.
Yaoyorozu was a little confused. "Why did he do that?"
Iida had an answer from recollection. "Gabumon is very attached to the fur pelt he wears. I believe he feared that Uraraka may try to take it."
Yaoyorozu was a little surprised by that. "I hadn't expected one of the Knights to have such an irrational fear."
Tokoyami nodded. "Yet that only shows how brave they can be."
The other two agreed.
Gabumon was now ready. He was then enveloped in light and began to expand. "Gabumon digivolve to..." When the light faded the form revealed was one the students had only seen once. "Garurumon!"
Garurumon now glared at Uraraka with newfound bravery.
Izuku got himself far enough to watch safely. "Are you guys ready?"
Uraraka already felt ready. "Yeah."
Garurumon nodded.
Izuku then initiated the next match "Begin."
Uraraka then immediately rushed forward. She knew that if she could just touch him once that would mean victory.
Garurumon saw this and stood still. He waited until Uraraka got just close enough to swing her hand forward.
Garurumon responded by leaping above Uraraka.
When Uraraka turned around to look at her opponent she was knocked to the ground, as she was whipped by Garurumon's tail. She fell onto the ground.
Garurumon took a step back. He was a careful knight. He wouldn't take his eyes off a target unless he knew he had won.
As predicted, Uraraka began to get up. She looked at Garurumon, still determined. She then attempted to rush him again.
Garurumon showed his teeth, and cool air streamed through the gaps . "Ice Cannon!" Out of his mouth an orb of ice shot out slamming into Uraraka.
The battle was swiftly won.
Garurumon walked up to Uraraka. "Are you alright?"
Uraraka sat up scratching the back of her head. "I'm fine." She then looked back now with her arms crossed. She shivered as she looked at the orb of ice. "I didn't know you could do that."
Izuku walked up to the two. "That's the idea. Since we won't know what everyone is capable of in the festival we need to get used to fighting people with unknown powers." He then stretched his hand to help Uraraka up."
Uraraka took his hand and got up. "Yeah. I get it. Thanks for the match Garurumon." She then came up to the knight and patted his head.
Garurumon looked away. "Please don't do that." Despite his request, the tail of the canine revealed the truth as it waged.
Izuku giggled at his knight's situation. "Let's get to the others."
Uraraka nodded. "Alright"
In a flash of light Garurumon returned into the Digivice and the students walked back to their friends.
Inside the Digivice Gabumon was now at the mercy of the mischievous knight.
Impmon laughed at the blushing mess that was now Gabumon. "For a coldblooded reptile you sure love the doggy treatment!"
Veemon patted Gabumon on the back. "Good job winning your fight. Way to represent us."
Gabumon smiled at Veemon. "Thank you."
Impmon had now generated a complaint. "Hey! I wasn't done teasing him yet!"
Impmon then felt something nudge his back. When he turned around a shiver crawled up his spine, as he saw Dorumon using The Serious Face. "D-Dorumon! What's up?"
Dorumon looked at Impmon with shivering intensity. "Lose your match and I will literally break you next time we train."
Impmon gave a shaky salute to his leader. "Yes sir."
Guilmon wasn't paying attention.
Agumon looked at Guilmon confused. "Are you sad that we won't get to fight today?"
Guilmon's face physically refocused as he turned to face Agumon. "No. I am not sad because I won't get to fight."
Agumon nodded his head like he understood. "Ok, but are you sad?"
Guilmon slowly blinked. "Agumon. How do you do it?"
Agumon was now more confused. "How do I come up with questions?"
Guilmon was astonished by his fellow knights' thought process. 'No, how do you get by without a brain?' He then spoke his true query. "No. I want to know how you made it so far so quickly. You and Gabumon weren't even made that much longer before me, but you guys jumped ahead. Farther than I could go."
Agumon then sat down next to his friend. "Well I don't know how it works, but I just did what felt natural to me. Being me just felt like it was enough."
Guilmon wasn't fully satisfied. "But it clearly wasn't for me. Just how did it feel when you became Omegamon?'
Agumon then looked away with a finger under his chin. "Hmm. That's a good question. I guess I felt complete. Like I was ready to do anything. When me and Gabumon got up it just felt like we were letting go of something."
Guilmon wasn't fully satisfied, but this was something. "Thanks I guess"
Agumon was once more confused. "For what?"
In the real world the students were discussing the battle.
Yaoyorozu had a new question. "Midoriya, are you sure you can handle using your quirk this much?"
Midoriya was able to reassure. "Oh, it'll be ok. A huge part of my training has been keeping as many knights as possible out at the highest level. A lot of Champions are pretty easy now."
Uraraka had a thought of her own. "Hey, how did you figure out who we should go up against?"
Midoriya seemed fairly proud to discuss his analysis. "Oh, well I just looked at the strengths and possible weaknesses of your quirks. For example Iida's quirk has obvious strengths, but speed like that needs the right kind of reaction speed. That means if someone can get close to his speed then it'll challenge how fast he can react."
Iida then began to jump off that thought. "I see. Since Uraraka's quirk relies on touch you put her against someone who'd be difficult to keep track of."
Yaoyorozu was fascinated. "I see. Now I'm curious about what you think of Tokoyami and I."
Izuku had a productive way to reveal that. "Well then I guess it's a good thing you're next Yaoyorozu."
Yaoyorozu nodded and got up to follow Izuku.
Uraraka placed a finger on her chin. "I wonder how this will go."
Tokoyami had some ideas. "With the range they have, Midoriya using only one knight will show itself to be a hindrance."
Iida had a similar idea, but a counter point also arose. "Maybe but Midoriya's analysis has been critically sound. Perhaps he's already pinpointed a precise weakness."
Once Izuku and Yaoyorozu got far enough Yaoyorozu began to undo her shirt.
That caught Izuku off guard for obvious reasons. "Y-Yaoyorozu! What are you doing?!"
Yaoyorozu looked at Izuku, not understanding the question. "I'm preparing myself. My quirk relies on exposed skin after all."
Izuku was trying his hardest not to look. "O-oh. Ok. That makes sense." He then cleared his throat to focus. "Dorumon." In a flash of light his chosen knight appeared.
Yaoyorozsu saw this and her mind went straight to work. 'Dorumon? His Ultimate form is DoruGreymon. Large and powerful with wings to fly. His form after that is Alphamon. A Royal Knight. A title like that alone shows how much power he possesses. I may be fighting him at the Champion level, but I can't let my guard down against someone so experienced.'
Dorumon looked at Yaoyorozu with his own thoughts. 'Those eyes. She's analyzing me. Reminds me of Izuku. He may have had the same thought. This is a test of quick thinking isn't it?' Dorumon knew Izuku a little too well. He then decided to stop wasting time. He let himself be engulfed in light, as he grew into his new form. "Dorumon digivolve to..."
When the light faded his body had become a far bit larger. His body was covered in black fur with purple lightning-like stripes. His legs had become larger and his arms became longer, each had three long red claws. A saurian tail replaced his bushy one and large wings had grown. The fur around the base of his neck, chest, paws, snout, the inside of his wings, and the end of his tail were white. He also had two pointed ears with purple tips.
This was the only form of Dorumon the students hadn't even heard of, and he announced his prescience. "Dorugamon!"
Izuku had taken his place as before. "Are you two ready?"
Yaoyorozu nodded. "Yes"
Dorugamon starred with intensity. "I am"
Izuku then initiated the third battle. "Begin!"
Dorugamon went straight into action, as he charged forward.
Yaoyorozu saw this and responded by making a shield. 'An onslaught. This was what I was expecting. I just need to guard myself and I'll get through.'
Dorugamon saw this and launched his first attack. "Cannonball!" A metal ball then shot out of his mouth striking Yaoyorozu's shield, breaking her guard.
Yaoyorozu responded by making a second and using it to guard from Dorugamon's first attack. She then used both to protect herself from the flurry of attacks.
Dorugamon knew this wasn't going anywhere, but he had a new plan.
Yaoyorozu felt the attacks stopped and immediately dropped one of her shields to hold a newly made staff. When she saw Dorumon standing farther than she thought she became worried. 'Wait. What is he-'
Dorugamon wouldn't give his opponent time to think, as he put his plan into motion. "Power Metal!" An metal orb once more shot out of his mouth with more force than the last one.
When Yaoyorozu tried to block it her arm was pushed away by the force. 'This attack. It's much stronger than the last one.'
Dorugamon wouldn't give Yaoyorozu a second to react, as he leapt at her, tackling her to the ground.
Yaoyorozu's arms were pinned, and there was no way for her to get out. 'I can't escape like this. I...' She lost.
Dorugamon then got off. "Are you alright?"
Yaoyorozu sat up. "I'll be fine."
Izuku came up to the two. "Are you guys ok?"
Dorugamon nodded. "I'm fine."
Yaoyorozu got up on her own. "I'm alright." A part of her wasn't though.
Izuku then clapped his hands with a smile. "Great. Then let's get back and discuss the match."
Dorugamon nodded and in a flash of light he returned to the digivice.
Izuku and Yaoyorozu walked back to their friends.
When they arrived Uraraka was the first to call Yaoyorozu's attention. "Hey, Yaoyorozu. Are you ok?"
Yaoyorozu gave a small fake smile to her classmate. "I'm alright. Just a little disappointed."
Iida got up and chopped the air with his hand. "Don't be! Each knight was especially chosen to challenge us. To expand our abilities and cover for our weaknesses."
Tokoyami nodded. "Failure is a natural part of the process. It gives us what we need to grow and overcome."
Izuku was glad they understood. "That's right. I picked Dorumon because out of everyone else he's the one who takes the most after me. Think of him as a quick thinking analyzer. Like you. I believe the only real difference is experience."
Yaoyorozu was starting to feel a little better. "Thank you. I have learned how important it is to humble myself a little, and I'm sure looking back on that battle I can learn much more."
Izuku smiled. "Right. Now are you ready Tokoyami?"
Tokyami nodded then got up. "Let us begin."
The two students then left the group to prepare.
Once they were far enough Izuku was ready to call forth his chosen knight. "Impmon."
In a flash of light Impmon appeared as ready as he'll ever be. "Alright! Let's do this!"
Tokoyami looked at Impmon for a moment. "I see. So we will fight because both of us walk between the light and darkness."
Impmon looked up at Tokoyami confused. "I-what?"
Izuku was also confused. "I guess that's another reason why."
Tokoyami nodded. He then made some distance to begin.
Izuku didn't look away from Tokoyami, but he spoke to Impomon. "Uh, you should get ready."
Impmon nodded. "Yeah. I'll do that." He then took a few steps forward and began to glow. "Impmon digivolve to..." He began to grow and when the light faded his new form was revealed. "Wizardmon!"
Tokoyami had thought of something new now having seen his opponent's new form. "Your light reveals a new darkness. I hope to see how it challenges mine."
Wizardmon still didn't understand what he was hearing. "Uh. Ok." 'Izuku please start the match. The more he talks the less I understand.'
Izuku had gotten far away enough to be safe, but this was the match he was the most worried about. Wizardmon was wildcard. 'The most talented knight, but the biggest ego. I'm hoping that you'll learn more from this than Tokoyami.' "Are you two ready?"
Tokoyami nodded. "I am ready."
Wizardmon gripped his staff excited. "Let's do this!"
Izuku was unsure of what could happen, still he knew that he had to do this. "Begin!"
Tokoyami went straight into action. "Dark Shadow!"
As an immediate response the creature that was Tokoyami's quirk shot out to attack Wizardmon. "Got it!"
Wizardmon responded by taking aim with his staff. "Thunder Cloud!" Lightning then shot from his staff striking Dark Shadow.
Dark Shadow recoiled from the attack, pulling back to Tokoyami.
Wizardmon kept up the heat. He charged up more electricity into a point in his staff forming an orb. "Thunder Bomb!" The orb then shot out towards Tokoyami crackling with stored power.
Tokoyami gave Dark Shadow the command to dodge and Dark Shadow responded by grabbing onto the ground and flinging Tokoyam into the air before pulling back to him.
Wizardmon's attack then hit the ground and exploded as the contained energy ruptured from the impact.
The students watching on were surprised with how much power the attack had.
Iida was the first to express his thoughts. "I see. We've only seen the powers of Ultimates and Megas, but a Champion level knight can show the same kind of power."
Yaoyorozu had a theory. "Or maybe they're more human than we realized."
Uraraka didn't understand that comment. "What do you mean?"
Yaoyorozu then elaborated. "I'm taking into consideration the randomization of human ability. Some people have talent and maybe this is something similar."
Tokoyami now had to take action. "Dark Shadow. Move us to the side." He couldn't let Wizardmon get a good aim on him. The light from the knight's attacks were already starting to wear down on Dark Shadow, so he had to keep moving.
Dark Shadow shot back to the ground and tried to do what he had before as a landing.
Wizardmon wouldn't allow that. He aimed his staff at Tokoyami and a cool breeze surrounded it. "Blink Breeze!" A cool wind shot out of his staff pushing Tokoyami back.
Dark Shadow couldn't pull Tokoyami in. All he could think of was holding. "I thought his whole thing was lightning!"
Wizardmon had a pride filled response to that. "You'd think so, but no. I'm different from your average knight. Even as a Rookie I have more abilities than I know what to do with."
That's when Tokoyami realized why Wizardmon was his opponent. Tokoyamin couldn't expect the average flight from him, so he had to be just as unpredictable. "Dark Shadow! Coil around me!"
Dark Shadow didn't understand the command until he took a closer look. He then pulled Tokoyami towards him by wrapping around the student like a roll of tape by using the push of the wind.
When Tokoyami made it to Dark Shadow a plan was starting to form. "Stay wrapped around me. I have an idea."
Wizardmon was still confident. "You guys are gonna try some trick on me? Well, good luck." An orange light then began to emit from his hand. He then raised his free hand above his head. "Magic Game!" Then as if phasing into existence another Wizardmon appeared next to him. Then another, and another. More kept appearing until there were 10 Wizardmons in the battlefield. All ten of them then spoke in unison. "Since it'll be hard to find the real me."
Uraraka was utterly shocked to see this. "Wow, what?! He duplicated himself?"
The other two didn't understand it either.
Iida was curious and concerned. "How will Tokoyami respond?"
This also made Izuku worry. It's not that he wanted Wizardmon to lose, he just wanted the knight to come back down to earth. It's very easy to see at a first glance how great Impmon's pride is and Izuku fears that it may get in the way of his growth. It was harsh but Dorumon and Guilmon helped him see that being tough on someone like Impmon would be healthier than letting his ego rise.
Tokoymi looked at his opponent seriously. "So am I supposed to believe that at the Champion stage you are the strongest?"
The Wizardmon's all smiled and spoke in unison. "That's right! I may not be the most durable, but when it comes to power the others can't keep up."
Tokoyami then asked the next logical question. "What about the Ultimate stage?"
The Wizardmons didn't like to hear that. "Shut up! I don't need to digivolve to be strong. I'm not like Veemon and I'm not like Guilmon either! I can be better!" They all then aimed their staffs at Tokoyami. "Thunder Cloud!" The electricity all shot out all at once.
Tokoyam thought this would happen. "Dark Shadow!" In response the creature that had coiled around him shot downward like a spring which resulted in Tokoyami being shot upward. This time however he was also shot toward the Wizardmon's. Dark Shadow had also quickly returned to coiling around Tokoyami.
The Wizardmons looked up at the student heading toward them confused.
That's when Tokoyami fully set his plan into motion. "Now. Ouroboros!" Dark Shadow then shot out around Tokoyami like a spiral colliding into the Wizardmons as he came back down.
The curious part was that as each Wizardmon was hit he vanished. That's when the students saw the truth.
Uraraka was still confused. "They're disappearing now."
Iida realized it quickly. "I see. So they were illusions. A powerful technique nonetheless."
Yaoyorozu nodded. "And Tokoyami has made a good counter." Something that began to bury itself into her mind.
Wizardmon felt his gut be hit hard as him and his illusions were caught off guard by Dark Shadow's attack.
When Tokoyami noticed this he let out another command. "Dark Shadow, grab him!"
Dark Shadow followed the plan as he grabbed Wizardmon's back. He then rushed upward then back down.
Wizardmon felt his body hit the ground hard. 'N-no. How could he...'
Dark Shadow then quickly lifted himself up before looping back to the ground.
Wizardmon could feel his strength fading as he dropped his staff. 'He beat me...'
Tokoyami panted. Even though he was the victor Wizardmon gave him a greater challenge than he expected.
Dark Shadow then let go of Wizardmon and returned to Tokoyami. "You ok Fumi?"
Tokoyami nodded. "I'll be alright."
Izuku came up to Wizardmon and knelt down. "Wizardmon, are you alright?"
Wizardmon slowly raised his head off the ground but didn't look up at Izuku. "I'm fine." He lied.
Izuku corrected himself. "I don't mean physically Wizardmon"
Wizardmon was more hesitant to respond. "I-I know."
Izuku knew how important winning this fight was to Wizardmon. It was his chance to prove how strong he was and he literally got slammed into the ground. "Wizardmon it's ok you lost."
Wizardmon raised himself more, but still only kept looking at the ground. "Is it though? I don't just want to be stronger. I want to be the strongest. I don't know why, but I just have this feeling that I have to be."
Izuku looked at Wizardmon and felt useless. If he just told Wizardmon that he doesn't have to be the strongest then that'd just damage his pride instead of bringing it back under control. If he told Wizardmon he was strong then Wizardmon would just doubt him. "I-"
Tokoyami then cut through the conversation. "You are strong Wizardmon."
Wizardmon and Izuku looked up at Tokoyami and Dark Shadow.
Tokoyami then continued. "You pushed us to do things we would have never considered. The raw power you have pushed us."
Dark Shadow then supported the claim. "Yeah. You've got enough powers to make anyone look like a schmuck. Didn't think we were gonna win at some point." He seemed to then look very proud of himself. "Still thanks to our team up we got the upper hand."
Wizardmon looked up at the two unsure of what to think. He lost to them so what could he think?
Izuku did though. He stretched his hand out to Wizardmon. "Hey Wizardmon. Let's make a deal. Let's make sure you get as strong as you want to be together."
Wizardmon then finally looked at Izuku. He wants so badly to be strong, but still a shadow of doubt surrounded him. It made him feel weaker than he already did, but maybe that's because he never tried anything different. He was always lazy, but this could be the start of his own path of strength. He then moved his hand forward and grabbed onto Izuku's. "Alright. Let's do it."
Izuku gave the knight a smile and nodded. "Right." In a bright flash Wizardmon returned the Digivice. Izuku then got up and turned to Tokoyami. "Thanks."
Tokoyami nodded.
The two students then returned to their classmates.
Within the Digivice Wizardmon was faced by the looming force of the eclipse armored Royal Knight. "A-Alphamon. Heeey..."
Alphamon looked down at his fellow knight as if ready to deliver on his threat. "Well done out there." But he knew that he'd been through enough. Alphamon then walked away to give Wizardmon some space.
Wizardmon then let out a breath. "Oh man! Ok!"
This gave fuel for Veemon to laugh at his fellow knight. "I actually thought he was gonna kill you. That's great."
That snapped Wizardmon's focus away from the threat. "Shut up!"
Alphamon looked back at the knight with a thought. 'Wizardmon. You may not realize it, but you remind me of myself. I used to believe I'd only need myself to be strong. I'm glad to see you're moving past that.'
When Izuku and Tokoyami returned to the student Iida gave his compliments first. "Well done Tokoyami. Glad to see that more of us can still match the knights.."
Uraraka nodded in agreement. "Yeah. It's inspirational to watch."
Yaoyorozu agreed even if it felt discouraging. "You did very well."
Tokoyami bowed his head. "I thank you for your praise." He then looked at Izuku. "And I thank you for this experience."
Izuku scratched the back of his head. "It's alright. This helped all of us get stronger."
The other students agreed, but it made Iida curious about something. "Say Midoriya, if you don't mind me asking, why did you come to UA?"
Izuku looked at Iida a little surprised. He didn't expect the question, but he could answer. "It's because I want to save people. I want to bring comfort to people with a smile on my face. When they see me and my knights together they'll know their safe. I know that sounds like a fantasy, but it's what I want to be. The hero who can save everyone."
The other students could feel how much Izuku meant that. To him he wanted to be a hero for the nobility of it.
Tokoyami nodded. "I see. My motivation feels rather small by comparison."
Izuku was confused by that. "Huh?"
Tokoyami then elaborated "I have simply been surrounded by figures of inspiration my whole life. I suppose you can say that this is me using that motivation to push away the darkness heroes battle against."
Iida found both students' reasons to be inspirations of their own. "How incredible. With such drive we're sure to push ourselves to victory."
Uraraka felt a little embarrassed by the reason of her fellow students. She felt selfish for her own, but it still mattered to her and that was important.
Yaoyorozu felt something similar. She was a recommended student and she couldn't stand as an equal to them, but the sports festival could be her chance to change that.
Uraraka then had a new idea. "Hey guys. Maybe we should try hanging out casually sometime."
Izuku was caught off guard by that. "Like meet up somewhere?"
Tokoyami nodded. "I believe that is the intent, yes."
Iida saw the good that could do. "Yes. I do believe us meeting in a more casual setting would be very relaxing and it would open up the possibility for all sorts of activities."
Uraraka was excited that Iida was catching on. "Yeah! We can do something after the Sports Festival to celebrate regardless of how we place."
Yaoyorozu was also getting excited. "Yes..." She whispered.
The others turned to Yaoyorozu not having really heard her.
Yaoyorozu then sprung up to her feet with a light in her eyes. "Let's do it! After the Sports Festival we can all meet at my residence for a little celebration,
The other students were caught by surprise. Not only was Yaoyorozu on board, but she was also offering up her own home.
Uraraka seemed just as excited as Yaoyorozu. "Really? That sounds like fun."
Iida had a more calm response. "It's good to have a place planned so soon, so I will accept your invitation."
Tokoyami was more hesitant, but his parents would agree that this could be good for him. "Then I will come as well."
The most hesitant was Izuku because well... 'A girl just invited me to her house. A girl just invited me to her house! I don't-I can't, but I. SYSTEM ERROR SYSTEM ERROR. USER INPUT LOST.'
A voice did manage to snap Izuku out of his thoughts though. "Well what about you Midoriya?"
Yaoyorozu had come up to Izuku with a smile across her face and excited light in her eyes.
Izuku reeled back with a blush. "Uh. Yeah, ok. I'm down for that."
That got Yaoyorozu all the more excited. "Perfect! I must tell Mother and have her open up the hall!
That caught the students by surprise again.
Yaoyorozu wasn't going to slow down though. "What kind of tea are you all partial to? I'll see to it that we're stocked."
Uraraka and Izuku had similar thoughts on that part. 'You don't have to.'
Yaoyorozu still kept going. "My family tends to drink Harrods or Wedgwood, but if you have your own preferences please let me know. Oh, we're going to have so much fun!"
The students were left confused for several reasons. Was Yaoyorozu bragging? Was she being modest? Unaware? The only one who could understand was the well off Iida, but even he was swept up by the vice representative's sudden burst of energy.
Most of all Izuku was finding himself thinking something odd. Maybe it was because he was caught off guard or maybe it was because he wasn't used to seeing this, but he found Yaoyorozu to be cute. Something he'd ponder about later.
Within the digivice Agumon, Gabumon, Guilmon, Veemon, and Impmon found themselves being crushed by Alphamons hug?
Alphamon had tears streaming down his eyes as he had also realized something. "Our Izuku is becoming a man."
Gabumon breathlessly said what they were all thinking. "Alphamon, we can't breathe."
As the day ended the students were left to think about what could come in the sports festival. New inspirations and insecurities. All of it to come together in one day. Then it's time for students to do what they do and have some fun.
This took way to long to make! I swear these last few weeks have sucked. I had a bit of writers block, I then got sick for almost a week straight, I had a molar removed, and then I had my wisdom teeth removed! Not my finest moments. Still I'm back! I hope you enjoyed this chapter it took a while for a reason. Anyway the next chapter should come out soon since it's the beginning of the Sports Festival. Exciting isn't it? How do you think things will go? I know I'm excited. Let's talk about a few things now. First this chapter was mostly used as set up for future character arks if you couldn't tell. Second, Agumon is too precious for this world. Third, Tokoyami has a new attack named after the symbol of a dragon eating it's own tail, Oruoboros. Also I will say it again the poll is still up, but hindsight tells me to get rid of it once the next chapter is ready, so if you do wanna vote go to my account and check it out. Now for the easy part answering questions and curiosities.
This first one is from Digihero2001.
"If izuku did inherit one for all and then in the future pass it on to the 10th holder what would happen if the tenth unlocked izuku's quirk?" Then that depends. If Izuku were to retire before the quirk is unlocked then he'd do what I like to call "Initiative New Kingdom" which would be him passing down the Royal Knights. Now if the user makes more digimon then that's up to them.
Next is from SparkySparkpaw, well next three.
"Will Vermont gain access to all the digieggs or just the ones used in the anime?" Vermont is a state. There's an anime about Vermont? I'm just kidding. Veemon is only gonna get the ones that matter.
"Will Izuku and Guilmon Biomerge to become Galletmon/Dukemon?" No. If Alphamon and Omegamon don't need it then neither does he.
"Will any of the royal knights gain access to any of their extra forms?" Maybe. Depends on how the story developes.
Next is a question made by kiyomos.
"will impmon be more than one knight? given that he's is the base of almost half of them?" I actually did some research on that second part to see if it was true and it is not. Through all his evolution lines Impmon can only become two Royal Knights, and for the sake of the story he only becomes one.
Next question is from a guest.
"What pairing do you have in mind for the story?" Wouldn't you like to know?
Last question is from dustellion
"I know that gallantmon will be coming (hopefully soon) but do you have any plans for grani? if not than will there be anything like him for gallantmon crimson mode?" I do not have plans for Grani, no. Nor do I have plans for Crimson Mode. I've been thinking more about X evolution for long winded reasons that border on being spoilers.
Now please be a little patient with me. The Sports Festival is one of the three arks I'm the most excited for, so I really wanna do it right. Like I said this ones gonna be out real soon, so look forward to it.
