This is where it begins. The Sports Festival is here! I'm going to try so hard here! Character arks will be arking. Games will be plaid. Victories will be claimed. Symbols will be created. Now one thing to say real quickly. I will announce what happened to the poll. Spoilers, hindsight was right. Oh well, wouldn't have known if I hadn't tried. Always remember that I do not own most any of this. Any credit for that should go to the original creators.
Chapter 11: Rising
Night had dawned and many were sleeping peacefully. Even in the Midoriya household.
Izuku was resting his body for the day to come and even his knights were "sleeping".
Knights were able to enter a state of rest to wait out time or heal damage.
Gabumon was sleeping on top of Agumon and Veemon and Impmon were using the two as pillows.
Still there was one of them who couldn't sleep.
Guilmon looked out to the void of this empty section of cyberspace. Even after almost two weeks his mind could only focus on what he now knew resided within him.
A voice then caught Guilmon's attention. "Can't sleep, huh?"
Guilmon turned around to see Dorumon walking up to him.
Once Dorumon made it to Guilmon he then sat down next to him. "What are you thinking about?"
Guilmon should have expected Dorumon to be direct, but his mind was too focused on something else. "About what I am."
Dorumon pretended like he didn't understand. "A knight?"
Guilmon knew what Dorumon was doing. "Dorumon, you know how we work."
Dorumon nodded. "That's right, I do. We are made using a special coding language made by Izuku and what would be called our "core processor" is a single line of code called the Code of Life or the CoL. It's capable of rearranging and adding new parts to us. It's what enables digivolution."
Guilmon nodded. "Yeah. and mine? It put something there that shouldn't exist."
Dorumon understood. "The Digital Hazard?"
Guilmon nodded. "Izuku said it's like a localized virus that reacts to my mental state. Similar to the CoL. He said the virus' prime directive is to take over. My anger made a monster." He was sad to say it, but it was the truth. If it wasn't for his envy then this wouldn't have happened.
Dorumon wouldn't let Guilmon talk like that. "So what?"
Guilmon was confused by that. ""So what"? What does that mean? I've doomed myself and if I'm not careful then I'll hurt everyone. You became a Royal Knight I became a beast."
Dorumon had a new question. "Do you know how I became a Royal Knight?"
Guilmon was caught off guard by that. "Of course not."
Dorumon offered his thoughts. "If I'm being honest I'm not completely sure myself. Still when I chose to fight in that moment knowing others had my back it felt like I was fighting against a darkness inside of me, but there was more than that. My blade of light wasn't a sign that I had destroyed it, but rather it meant that I could shine regardless of it. What I'm trying to say is that you can overcome this. You just need to find your answer."
Guilmon didn't have a response. Dorumon couldn't give him the answers he wanted, but he gave him what he could. "Thank you Dorumon."
Dorumon now had to do what he had to. "You're welcome. Now go to sleep."
*The next day...*
UA was filled with energy like the rising sun as people from all over came to see the Sports Festival. Many heroes had also come, some came to scout for potential sidekicks and others were working security.
Now though the students were still preparing.
In Class 1-A's waiting room one voice spoke with disappointment that voice came from Ashido. "Aw, man. I was hoping I could catch the crowd's attention by wearing my costume" She looked down at her gym uniform disappointed.
Ojiro tried to find the silver lining. "At least everyone'll be in uniforms. That'll keep things fair right."
Sato was sitting at a table and he felt himself become nervous as the minutes ticked by. "I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round."
Tokoyami sat nearby and gave his thoughts. "No matter what they've prepared, we must persevere."
Shoji nodded in agreement. "Right."
The door then opened to reveal Izuku with an announcement. "Alright everyone, get ready! We're gonna go soon!"
Some students now really began to mentally prepare themselves, but one went straight for the door.
Todoroki had begun walking up to Izuku. "Midoriya."
Izuku turned his attention to his fellow student. "Yeah, Todoroki. What's up?"
Todorki then expressed what was to him a truth. "From an objective standpoint, I think it's fairly clear that you have the strongest quirk here."
That caught Izuku off guard. It also caught several of the students.
Bakugo clearly didn't like to hear that.
Still Todoroki would get to his point. "Regardless of that, there's something I want you to know. I will beat you."
Izuku's eyes widened. He didn't understand what Todoroki was doing, and he couldn't tell what he was thinking behind the boy's cold eyes.
Kaminari was both confused and nervous. "What's with all these declarations of war lately?"
Kirishima tried to mitigate the situation by walking towards the two. "Yeah, what's the big deal?" He then placed his hand on Todoroki's shoulder. "Why are you pickin' a fight all of a sudden? And right before we get started..."
Todoroki cut him off by elbowing Kirishima's hand off his shoulder. "We're not here to be each other's friends. Don't forget that out there we'll be on our own." He then tried to walk past Izuku.
Izuku wouldn't just let it end like that. "Hold on, Todoroki."
Todoroki stopped to listen.
Izuku then continued. "I don't really know what's going through your head or why you think you'd need to tell me that you'll beat me. Just know you can't focus on just me. Whether or not I'm the strongest I'm not the only one you'll be going up against. The other courses made it clear that they'll try to get to us too. I'll be going for the top too, so don't keep your eyes on me for too long or else someone might pass you without you even realizing it."
Todoroki understood the message. Izuku wasn't denying him, but rather he's telling Todoroki that he can't let himself become distracted. "Right."
A shock had hit the class, but it would only push them further. This was their chance to show who could make it to the top and there was no chance to hesitate.
*A few minutes later...*
A screen shone revealing the hero Present Mic who showed some intense energy. "Make some noise, all you rabid sports fans! Get those cameras prepped, media hordes! This year we're bringing you some of the hottest performances in sports festival history, guaranteed! I've only got one question before we start the show: Are you ready? Let me hear ya scream as our students make their way to the main stage!"
From a tunnel leading into the stadium, footsteps echoed and out came the students of 1-A.
Present Mic then introduced them to the world. "This first group are no strangers to the spotlight! You know them for withstanding a villain attack, the dazzling students lighting up your TVs with solid-gold skills. The hero course students of Class 1-A !"
Izuku looked up at the crowed becoming nervous at the sight of them. "Oh man.. I didn't know there'd be so many people."
Within The Digivice an opposite sentiment was had by Impmon. "Oh man! Look at all those people! This is our chance to wow them!"
Back in the real world Iida was optimistic though still rather nervous. "I hope we can give our best performances, even though all these eyes are watching us. I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero we all have to learn to get used to."
Kirishima was looking at the crowd smiling with a drop of sweat rolling down his cheek. "Present Mic sure did talk us up a lot. Kinda makes me nervous. How you feelin', man?"
Bakugo grinned excitedly at this opportunity. "I'm not worried. Makes me wanna win this thing even more."
Behind them more groups of students were entering the field and Present Mic was happy to introduce. "These guys haven't gotten nearly as much screen time, but this next group is still chock full of talent! Welcome hero course Class 1-B! Next up, general studies classes C, D, and E! Support classes F, G, and H! And finally business classes I, J, and K! Give it up for all of UA's first-year contestants!"
A boy in general studies didn't look very happy over his situation. "I get the feeling we're all here to make the hero student look better."
The girl next to him shared similar thoughts. "I can't wait for this to be over with."
A flogger was then raised to silence the crowd. A woman's voice then rang around the stadium. "Now, the introductory speech!"
Many of them male heroes moved their gazes to the woman who spoke, one of which stated what was obvious to the rest. "This year's chief umpire for the first years is the R-Rated Hero, Midnight!"
Midnight herself was a very curvaceous woman with sky blue eyes and long dark purple hair with downward spikes. She wore a breastless black leathered leotard over a skintight white body-suit. She also wore a pair of black thigh-high garter stockings.
Many of the male heroes didn't hide how pleasing she was to the eye.
Kirishima was fairly uncomfortable. "Uh, someone should talk to Ms. Midnight about what she's wearing."
Kaminari nodded. "Yeah. That costume should come with a warning."
Tokoyami even shared his thoughts. "Is that really appropriate apparel for a high school game?"
Mineta had no qualms.
Midnight was ready to move on. "Silence everyone! And now for the student pledge, we have Izuku Midoriya!"
Izuku was shocked to hear this. "Wait, me?!"
Kirishima had an idea as to why. "I guess it's because you placed first in the entrance exams."
One of the general students sighed in response to hearing that. "Only for the hero exams."
Izuku was apologetic. "Uh, yeah..." He then felt a hand on his shoulder. When he turned he saw Yaoyorozu expecting something.
Yaoyorozu wouldn't let Izuku get cold feet now, as vice representative of their class, she couldn't allow it. "What are you waiting for Midoriya? As representative of not only our class, but our year you have earned this opportunity to stand out. So show them who you are."
Izuku was surprised. He hadn't realized Yaoyorozu cared so much. He nodded. "Right." He then made his way to the stage step by step. He could feel his nerves making him tense, but he couldn't deny something. This was an opportunity he couldn't pass on.
When Izuku was in front of the microphone he looked up at the crowd anxiously. He was expected to wow them, but whether or not he could wasn't at the front of his mind. Instead it was everything that led him here. His growth, the growth of his friends, and the challenges they face together. Then what Todoroki said flashed into his mind giving him the material he needed. "I want to be a hero. And I'm not alone on that. I know there are others here with something more driving them, but some of us are here to rise to the top, and to do that you'll have to beat me too. Hero course, General studies, Support, Business. Those divisions won't matter! I won't be holding back, and I expect everyone to do the same! That's why I'm here. That's why so many of us want this. Don't look away." He then raised his hand and pointed to the sky. "Because I'll be rising as far as possible!"
Then, silence.
Izuku stood still now sweating.
Then a clap echoed one after another, and before long the crowd was cheering to the boy's speech.
Present Mic's voice then echoed through the microphone. "Do you hear that? Izuku Midoriya has made himself the one to beat folks! Let's see how far he gets! Or as he would put it, let's see who rises highest."
Izuku walked back to his class and let out a stress filled breath. He felt a hand pat his shoulder and he turned to see Iida on the verge of tears. "Wow! Iida are you ok?"
Iida then wiped his eyes. "That was well worded Midoriya. Truly inspirational."
Izuku scratched the back of his head with a nervous chuckle. "Uh, thanks Iida."
Yaoyorozu had come next. "Well done Midoriya, but I think you just made yourself a target."
Izuku just gave another a dry chuckle as a response. "Yeah, I did do that."
The students then heard a beeping noise coming from a large screen. They then turned to see it say "First Game".
Midnight then got things moving. "Now, it's time for us to get started! The first game will be a qualifier! Now for the game in question!" A holographic screen appeared behind her with a rolling slot in the center. The slot then stopped, revealing the first game.
Izuku looked up at the screen already making a plan in his head. "An obstacle course."
Midnight then began to explain the rules. "All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest. The track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium." She then raised her flogger upward. "I don't want to restrain anyone at least in this game." She then licked her lips. "As long as you don't leave the course, you're free to do whatever your heart desires! Now then, take your place contestants."
The students were then taken to a large red gate which led to a long stretching black hallway.
Izuku looked up at the three lights on the gate then to the hallway. His mind was already racing with plans and ideas. Some simple, others less so. 'I have to be smart about this. I need to conserve energy, but I can't hold back.'
One of the lights on the gate then faded.
Izuku's expression only became more serious. 'To win this I'll have to do everything I can.'
The second light then faded. Then in a final moment of thought the last light faded and Midnight confirmed its call. "Begin!"
In an instant thoughts become action as students begin to run forward, all of them wishing to grasp victory.
Present Mic then began his commentating. "And we're off to a racing start!" He then turned to the man sitting next to him. "How 'bout some colorful commentary, Mummy Man?"
The man in question was Aizawa, still wrapped in bandages. "How did you talk me into this?"
Present Mic ignored the question. "What should we be paying attention to in the early stages of the race?"
Aizawa had a simple answer. "The door."
As Aizawa had said, the students became trapped in a sea of each other's bodies.
Izuku found it immediately difficult to move forward in this situation and he began to understand. 'I get it; They're testing us, seeing how well we get through. I have to do something.' As a plan formed in his mind the Digivice began to shine.
A cool air then surrounded the area and in an instant ice covered the feet of many students. The culprit was Todoroki who was now running ahead While still making ice along the floor. "Apologies."
Still many were advancing.
Bakugo was blasting his way forward.
Kirishima had leapt before the ice hit him.
Aoyama used his naval laser like a jet engine.
Yaoyorozu was using her quirk to create a pole that pushed her. "Nice trick, Todoroki!"
Todoroki turned to look, and saw a very angry Bakugo. "I won't let you get away so easily."
Bakugo then prepared for a larger explosion. "You icy-hot bastard!"
Ojiro had avoided the attack by using his tail to leap over it. "You froze me in place once before and I won't let it happen again."
Mina used the holes underneath her shoes to shoot out acidic liquid and using it like ice skates.
The thing that caught Todoroki's attention was the sound of cracking ice. When he saw the cause his eyes widened.
Izuku had summoned Raidramon and was riding him.
Raidramon used his lightning to break through the ice and carve a path letting him run at his maximum.
Todoroki couldn't react before the two passed him.
Izuku looked at Todoroki. "Like I said, I'll rise as far as possible."
Todoroki didn't expect so many people to escape his attack, especially those of other classes. Then a new noise caught his attention.
Minetta was making it through the ice by using his quirk to bounce off it. "You think you're so cool, but I've outsmarted you! Ha! How pathetic, Todoroki! Now, take this! My special attack! Gra..."
Before he could finish something hit Mineta's side, sending him away.
Izuku looked back having heard the commotion and saw three of the robots from the entrance exam
Present Mic then spoke to explain. "Ooh! Enemies have shown up out of nowhere! I bet we're in for a treat here! A test of strength and cunning! It's a Robo Inferno"
Izuku was confused by that title.
Raidramon wasn't as he stopped running. "Uh, Izuku. You might want to look at this."
Izuku looked forward and his confusion disappeared. "Oh, I get it now."
Many other students stopped running as well, as they looked up in shock.
Denki thought aloud what everyone's minds had echoed. "Are those the zero-point villains from the practical test?!"
Todoroki looked up at the machines as well. There had to be dozens of them. "So this is what the others faced in their entrance exam."
This was also Yaoyorozu's first time seeing them. "Where does the school even get the funding for these things?"
Raidramon was getting some cold feet. "How the hell do we fight that?! Do we get someone else to do it?"
Izuku had to conserve energy, but he had to get through. "We don't fight. They're big and slow. We just need to be faster." Izuku then made motions with his hand. "Activating: Increase Program!"
Raidramon was then enveloped by a red aura. "Alright. I can work with this!" He quickly dashed forward maneuvering through the large machines.
Close behind was Todoroki who saw that one of the machines was going to attack him. Todoroki responded by cooling the air around him. "They obviously went through a lot of trouble, but I wish they'd prepare something a little more difficult." He then placed his hand onto the ground which generated a coil of ice. "Especially since he's watching." He then launched his hand forward which caused the small mound of ice to erupt forward and coat the machine in ice. Todoroki then continued forward to catch up with Izuku.
Many of the students saw this and thought of an opportunity. They began to move forward in hopes of going underneath its legs.
Todoroki then looked back with a warning. "Careful, now. I froze it while it was off balance. on purpose."
As he spoke the zero-pointer began to break apart and fall to the ground.
Present Mic then gave the crowd an introduction. "Those are Midoriya and Todoroki from Class 1-A pulling ahead to early leads with displays of speed and power! Amazing! Those are the ones we should watch, it almost seems unfair! Thoughts?"
Aizawa then gave his own commentary. "Midoriya used his mobility to navigate around the obstacle instead of powering through it while Todoroki used an attack that was both offensive and defensive."
Present Mic was quick to comment. "No wonder one is the year's representative and the other got in on recommendations! Todoroki had never even fought those robots before, but they didn't stand a chance against his chart-topping moves! Now he's after the one to beat!"
Some students began fearing for their lives, as some had seen another student get crushed by the zero-pointer.
But the plated surface of the broken machine then burst open to reveal Kirishima. "I'm alive!"
Present Mic then gave another introduction. "Kirishima from Class 1-A! What a hardcore debut for this rookie!"
Kirishima wasn't exactly appreciative of what had happened. "Todoroki, I can't believe you pulled something like that. Jeez. Anyone but me would have been killed!"
Nearby more of the robots plating was being torn apart. "Class 1-A really is full a' jerks!" From inside burst out the gray haired boy from Class 1-B, but this time it looked like his body was made out of steel. "I'll smash that ice guy when I get my hands on him."
Once more, Present Mic gave the introduction. "Tetsutetsu from Class 1-B was also stuck underneath! What are the odds?"
Tetsutetsu then let out a small breath. "Ya know, anyone other than me woulda been killed!"
Kirishima then went running, almost crying. "Our quirks are practically the same! How am I supposed to stand out now?"
Tetsutetsu ran next to him more angry than sad. "You damn copycat!"
From the crowd of students Bakugo quickly blasted into the air with his explosions. 'No way am I letting those two beat me.' He can't rocketing up, and even dodged an attack from the machine before landing on its head
Once more, Present Mic thought it important to introduce this one. "Class 1-A's Bakugo is rocketing over the obstacle! Clever!"
Bakugo wasn't the only one who thought of that. Sero had used his tape to reel himself up. "I figured you'd just blast your way through these things with your quirk. I'm impressed."
Tokoyami had done something similar with Dark Shadow. "My shadow will take me through this obstacle."
The crowd continued to cheer with excitement as the students moved forward.
Aizawa had made an observation. "Class 1-A's learned not to hesitate.
Present Mic was confused by what his fellow teacher said. "Huh?"
Aizawa continued. "They've seen what the real world is like. They've felt the fear of facing villains. Yet they fight on, trying to overcome that fear. They've grown. All of them. And they know that they have to act quickly if they want to stay alive."
Izuku was now nearing the next obstacle and deactivated Increase.
Present Mic decided to acknowledge that. "For those of you who thought the first obstacle was 's see how ya feel about the second one."
Raidramon and Izuku looked down with wide eyes.
Present Mic then introduced the next obstacle. "If they wanna pass this test, they'll have to get creative. It's "The Fall"!"
Raidramon looked down in surprise. "When on Earth did they find time to build this?!"
The Fall was a large hole with several pillars peaking through the darkness with ropes connecting them.
Izuku looked back and was surprised to see that the zero-pointers had been taken down, and the students were approaching. Especially Todoroki. He had to find a solution, but everything he thought of wasn't as efficient as he liked. He had to make a choice. So hesitantly he gave out an order. "Raidramon. Jump."
Raidramon was shocked to hear that. "What?! Are you crazy?!"
Izuku didn't have a lot of time to explain. "I need you to trust me, alright?" He then brought a finger to his earpiece to focus on it. "And I need you to get ready Dorumon."
Raidramon grumbled looking forward. "You better know what you're doing." With one last breath he then leapt forward, something that looked like a suicide move.
Izuku, with little hesitation, jumped off of Raidramon. "DoruGreymon!"
In a bright flash of light one knight was traded for another.
When the light faded the crowd cheered as the large DoruGreymon took flight with Izuku on his back.
Present Mic was quick to match the crowd's energy. "Holy moly! Midoriya just changed his lightning dog for a dragon! How does that happen?!"
Aizawa had an answer. "That's how Midoriya's quirk works. Its sheer versatility can be overwhelming."
As DoruGreymon flew, Todoroki wasn't far behind, as he began to use his ice to skate on the ropes.
Soon after students began to arrive many of which seemed very hesitant.
Izuku looked out to see his competition, and noted three things. Todoroki was moving quickly, Bakugo was catching up with his explosions, and someone had made some ground with some interesting tech. "Is that support gear? Maybe I should get some more for my costume."
DoruGreymon spoke to keep Izuku's mind focused. "Pay attention. We're almost through."
Present Mic had something new to say. "In the world of heroes it can be hard to get popular without a flashy quirk. Right, Eraser Head?"
Aizawa wasn't amused by that comment. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Soon after, DoruGreymon finished flying over the pit and kept going with his trajectory.
Present Mic acknowledged this. "Looks like Midoriya is still soaring above the competition."
Izuku looked back to check on Todoroki and Bakugo, and he quickly realized a confrontation was inevitable. He just hoped he could make it to the next obstacle before then.
Many of the heroes had begun analyzing the students, especially Izuku. "The kid in first place is so far ahead."
Another pro had a developing thought. "His quirk is really powerful, but it seems kinda lazy"
A third pro was thinking something similar. "Yeah. He hasn't really done anything for himself. Makes him look cheap. The guy behind him is the opposite. I mean, don't you know who his father is? The Flame Hero, Endeavor"
The first hero seemed surprised to hear that. "Wait, for real? That guy is second only to All Might himself."
A fourth pro made an obvious claim. "Everyone will be fighting to have him as a sidekick for sure."
DoruGreymon was now approaching a stretch of dirt with several lumps.
Present Mic was glad to explain. And now, we're finally approaching the last obstacle. Everyone had better tread carefully. You're stepping onto a minefield! If you look carefully you can see where those bombs are buried, so keep your eyes on the ground, folks. By the way, those land mines were designed for the games, so they might be loud and flashy, but they're not all that powerful. Just enough to make you wet yourself!"
Aizawa still wasn't amused. "Sit down."
DoruGreymon had a small smile. "Good thing we won't have to deal with that."
Izuku looked back once more and his eyes widened. "I wouldn't say that."
Approaching was the sound of explosions and screaming.
Bakugo grinned as he approached. He was almost there. "Finally! It's over!" With one last push he made an explosion that boosted him to be next to DoruGreymon. He could now look Deku right in the eye. "That bastard. His declaration of war was to the wrong person!" Bakugo then threw his hand at the knight and released a powerful explosion pushing DoruGreymon.
This was worth talking about to Present Mic. "Bakugo is now ready to fight for the lead! The media here is going crazy! There's nothing they love more than an upset! Hey, hey, hey! The rest of the competitors are catching up, too!"
Like Present Mic said, several students were making their way through the minefield.
DoruGreymon repositioned himself and got ready to attack. "If this guy wants a fight, then he's got it!"
Before the knight could do anything though his form was then encased in ice.
Izuku managed to not get frozen and looked down at Todoroki who had been freezing the ground he was walking on to avoid the mines.
Once more, Present Mic used the event for greater excitement. "Todoroki has got Midoriya pinned. It looks like the lead could go to anyone now folks."
Izuku looked at Bakugo and Todoroki advancing. 'I can't let it end like this.' He looked down at the frozen ground and the mines around it. A plan was forming in his mind. A very stupid plan. "Agumon get ready."
DoruGreymon looked back to see what Izuku was thinking and began to panic when it looked like Izuku was gonna jump off of him. "Again?!"
Izuku looked back at DoruGreymon with a nervous smile. "Again." Then with less hesitation than before Izuku jumped off the knight. "Greymon!"
Once more in a flash of light one knight was exchanged for another.
The knight Izuku now stood on was similar to MetalGreymon, only the mechanical parts were all absent. He was also fairly smaller and the helmet he once had was replaced by a rhinoceros beetle-like skull.
Greymon had Izuku on his head and was now falling quickly. "Izukuu?!"
Izuku looked down, ready to move. "Blast as much of the ground as possible!"
Greymon quickly acted. He aimed his mouth to the ground. "Nova Flame!" Only a few meters off the ground Greymon released a plume of flame that stretched and melted the ice it touched.
Most importantly was the chain reaction it caused. Many students had to shield their eyes from the bright flash of the pink explosion as dozens of mines were triggered all at once. The resulting explosion was so large the crowd couldn't look away.
Present Mic shouted in confusion. "What's with that huge explosion? That was way more powerful than it should be!"
Aizawa had something of an answer. "Because it wasn't just one."
The large column of pink smoke was breached by the existing form of Greymon and Izuku who held onto the knight's horn for dear life.
Izuku was glad to be moving ahead, but the g force was crazy.
Greymon had an important question. "Izuku! How do we land?!"
Izuku wasn't done with his insanity. "We don't! This is a three step plan!"
Bakugo and Todoroki looked up in shock. Neither of them had expected Izuku to pull something this insane.
If Bakugo was being honest he should have seen this coming. "Dammit Deku!"
Izuku then prepared to repeat the past. "Alright, time to go again." He then leapt off knowing how repetitive things were gonna get. "DoruGreymon!"
In a flash of light another trade was made.
As DoruGreymon flew he believed he was catching on. "You need me to fly close to the ground?"
Izuku put a hand on his head. "I need you to fly toward the ground."
DoruGreymon then looked at the ground. "I think I got it. Can you handle it one last time"
Izuku looked forward determined. "They're right behind us, so I can handle the headache."
As Izuku predicted, Todoroki and Bakugo were fast with their approach.
Todoroki didn't expect Izuku to use his trap as an advantage.
Bakugo was just pissed. How the hell was Deku ahead of him again? How did this keep happening?! He wasn't going to tolerate it anymore.
Present Mic wasn't gonna let this chance for commentary to slip by. "Holy smokes! Midoriya is relentless in his pursuit of first place!"
The crowd roared in excitement.
Aizawa then finished a thought he had started earlier. "That's how his quirk works. Its versatility can be overwhelming, but ultimately it's his mind that makes it so effective."
With DoruGreymon's speed and trajectory they had already moved passed the minefield.
Izuku was getting ready. Mentally and physically. 'Just one last time.' Izuku leapt off of DoruGreymon to make one last swap. "Raidramon!"
In a bright flash the Ultimate was changed for the Champion, as he made one last dash.
Present Mic just had to keep talking about it. "In a stunning move Midoriya uses his starter to bolt his way to the end! That's not all though. Todoroki and Bakugo are still in a relentless chase! Eraser Head, your students are amazing! What the heck are you teaching them?"
Aizawa had a pretty modest response. "This has nothing to do with me. Each of them is powered by their own drive to succeed."
As the three in the lead entered the final tunnel, Present Mic continued. "There ya have it folks. Eraser Head is a terrible teacher."
Aizawa didn't like that response. "I'm what?!"
Present Mic kept going without giving an answer. "Who would have imagined at the beginning of this race that the climax would be a non-stop mega-mix of surprises?!" He then made the big announcement. "The first to make it back to the stadium is the first place winner! Izuku Midoriya and his mighty steed are our champions!"
The crowd erupted into cheers for the boys victory.
In the Midoriya residence Inko couldn't stop the tears that poured out of her eyes. "Oh, my baby Izukuuu!" Although she called out for her son she was proud of her entire family.
In a dark room Shigiraki watched the boy's victory, annoyed. "It's that brat again.
A man sat alone looking at a screen, and let out a long breath and smiled with pride.
Izuku got off Raidramon and looked up at the crowd cheering for him and what he had done. He clenched his fist tightly, and with tears forming in his eyes raised it upward and began to point to the sky. This was a victory and this was his symbol. He would rise further and further. And he wasn't alone. This wasn't just his victory, but one to be shared. They would all rise together until they made it to the top, and when they're there Izuku will still be pointing to the sky.
Yeah! Victory! Not related to UlForceVeedramon though. Kinda sad. Ok, I know what you're thinking. "Why did this take so long". Well you see. I didn't have power for three and half days straight. So yeah, this chapter was supposed to come out like last Thursday. Now lets look at the chapter. The Sports Festival has started and I'm very anxious. I already said that I really want this chapter to work out, so I am very hopeful. I hope you guys like Izuku's speech and his now more openminded application of his intelligence. "There is no great genius without a touch of madness" - Aristotle. That is the logic I ran with. Now Izuku isn't actually insane, but he is going to have some ideas that make him look insane. Also I hided two pieces of foreshadowing that weren't in cannon. One was obvious while the other was subtle. Do you have an idea for which is which? Any way I hope you guys find that last part to not be stupid because I had so much trouble trying to figure out how I wanted to do that. I made three versions for it. Moving on I guess I should talk about the poll. Uhm. Six people voted on it. Four said yes, two said no. Now that makes me want to say "oh well that count, guess I'm doing it", but my better judgment is telling me that's dumb for reasons I'll explain later. First, questions.
Now there aren't many this time, but the first question was made by Kingkong101.
"This was not a good idea for a story why'd you make the Digimon so weak?" I didn't want make a power fantasy. If the Digimon blow through everything like it's nothing then I probably would have started the story with all the Knights. Also I am very vocal in the belief that if you want to see it done differently then you can make it yourself.
Next question is from MewMaster89
"when will Izuku make his next knights?" Later. Very Later. I want all the Knights to go through miniarcs before they become Royal Knight, and I want to complete a set before I move on. You're free to guess who could be in the next set though.
Last question was posted by SparkySparkpaw. Nice to see you again man.
"do you plan on having izuku get a second Veemon for the place of UlforceVeedramon?" I think you're the first person to ask that. I can't remember exactly, but I think every time this type of question has been aske it's been like Veemon becoming more than one Royal Knight. Regardless you got the right idea.
Now what's that thing I wanted to talk about? Oh, yeah. This story has 300 favorites and like 370 followers. That might not seem like the most important milestone, but to me that means a lot. Honestly it makes me feel bad that this chapter took so long. And the reason that there are so many of you and still only four of you care for a server I don't feel like that's good enough. Now I might return to the idea in the future, but for now the poll will be brought down and those two votes. That's a joke it's a mix of those votes and hindsight. On the good news I'd like to say that many of your theories are true. A Royal Knight will be arriving in this arc. Obviously not next chapter, but soon. So look forward to that. Now I sleep. Goodbye!
