Alright, so some mixed reception for the last chapter. I'll be addressing that later. All I'll say now is that I forgot a fundamental rule of writing. Let's see what really changes from here on out. Always remember none of this is mine, so support the original creators.
Chapter 13: Our Dreams
The rush of the Calvary Battle was gone and students began to calm down, as they grouped up with friends.
Uraraka didn't seem very happy with Iida. "You've been holding out on us. Why didn't you say you could do something like that?"
Iida held up a hand with a serious face. "I apologize, but I believed withholding such information would allow me to overcome those like Midoriya."
Uraraka let out an exasperated breath. "You're always trying to one-up him."
Tokoyami countered. "We all wish to surpass him. It's why I joined his team and it's why Iida didn't."
Yaoyorozu let out a tired breath. "I hope Midoriya doesn't hold anything against me. Todoroki approached me with a solid plan, and I knew he'd make it through. Still, it was closer than I expected."
Iida gulped remembering what he saw. He then said something quietly. "He was holding back."
Uraraka and Todoroki were confused.
Yaoyorozu nodded as she remembered the image of the Royal Knight in her mind. In that instance, it felt like he could have obliterated them. She then noticed something. "Wait, Where is Midoriya?"
The other three had then noticed that the topic of conversation was indeed missing.
Izuku now stood in a tunnel of the stadium and looked at the one who brought him there. "I'm here. So, what did you want to talk about?"
Todoroki only looked back with a frozen glare.
Izuku then rubbed his eyes. That last move he made in the cavalry battle left him with a huge loss of energy. "We should eat soon. We'll both need our energy for the finals after all."
Todoroki only continued to glare silently.
Izuku didn't know what to do. Todoroki was intimidating in a way he had never confronted before.
Todoroki then spoke. "I was afraid."
Izuku let out a small gasp in surprise.
Todoroki then continued. "And it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago." He then looked at his left hand. "My team Iida, Yaoyoyrozu, and maybe even Kaminari. I'm sure they felt the same. In that moment we saw your true power staring down at us. It was overwhelming."
Izuku was still confused. "Ok? Is that all?"
Todoroki's look only seemed to become more intense. "He held back. He could have attacked us directly if he wanted to, but he didn't. That means he held back. Was it for the sake of the game? Was it a strategy? I don't know." He then placed his hand into his pocket. "Midoriya, you know the finals are always a one-on-one match, so I want to make something clear. I don't want to fight you or any of your other Knights. I want to fight Omegamon."
Izuku's confusion only grew. He and Omegamon countered each other directly. "Why? Why would you want something like that?"
Todoroki then began to give his answer. "My father is the hero Endeavor. You must have heard of him Which means you know that he's the number-two hero. He's an ambitious man. He aims for the top. He used his power to rise the ranks of the hero world, but he was never able to best All Might. The Symbol of Peace is living proof of his failure. He's still at it, though, trying to take down All Might. One way or another."
This didn't clear up anything for Izuku. "But what does that have to do with me? What does it have to do with Omegamon?"
Todoroki looked at Izuku unflinching. "Have you ever heard of quirk marriages? They became a problem in the first few generations after superpowers became widespread There were those who sought out potential mates solely for the intention of creating powerful children. Many people were forced into relationships. They were simply viewed as old-fashioned arranged marriages. But, clearly, it was unethical. My father has not only a rich history of accomplishments but plenty of money to throw at his problems. He bought my mother's relatives to get his hands on her quirk. And now he's raising me to usurp All Might. I refuse to be a tool for that scumbag."
Izuku gasped in shock. The gravity of the situation now fully reveals itself to him.
Todorki wasn't done though. "In every memory of my mother I see her crying." He then began to bring up his left hand to place it on his scar. "I remember she called my left side unbearable before she poured boiling water on my face. The reason I want to fight Omegamon is because he has the same power as me. So if I beat him with only my right side I'd show him that reject his power, and I can take first place without using it."
Izuku looked to the ground now with answers to his question. He felt conflicted. Todoroki's life was more difficult than he could have imagined. The boy was burdened not by his power, but it what it meant to have that power.
Todoroki then began to walk away. "I hope now you understand why I need you to do this. If I'm to carve to the future I want then I'll have to destroy his future with only my right side."
Izuku watched Todoroki walk away in silence. It's not that he had nothing to say, but rather nothing he would say would change things. Not now at least.
Within the Digivice the Knights all had their own reactions.
Impmon slammed his fist in rage. "Dammit! That monster! How could someone do something like that to his own family?!"
Veemon was angry too, but not as explosive. "Impmon, calm down."
Impmon didn't approach that response. ""Calm down"?! How am I supposed to calm down?! Guilmon, back me up here."
Guilmon had an intense look of anger, but his eyes were filled with contemplation. 'Todoroki. You're so angry, and have no way to let it out.' In a way, he could sympathize with that.
Dorumon though entered the conversation himself. "Impmon, being angry won't do anything."
Impmon didn't like being ganged upon. "You've got to be kidding. We can't sit here and do nothing."
Dorumon then raised his voice. "And what can we do?!"
Impmon flinched. He then opened his mouth to speak.
But he was cut off by Dorumon. "You wanna fight him? Do you want us to obliterate him? What then? What would we do next? What would Izuku do?!" It was now clear to see that Dorumon was angry himself. "Besides you aren't the one under the most stress." He then looked at Agumon and Gabumon to emphasize his point.
Gabumon was trembling terrified. "It felt like his eyes berried themselves into me. Like he wants to kill us."
Agumon's face was filled with great anger but also deep sorrow. "Todoroki..." It saddened him to know the truth, and because of that, he didn't want to fight the boy.
Impmon began to calm down seeing this. Dorumon was right, getting worked up would be pointless.
The area was no longer its usually cheerful space. Now it was filled with rage, sorrow, and fear.
Izuku had made his way to the cafeteria in hopes to get things off his mind. Once he entered he heard the voice of his friends calling for him. When he looked he saw a long table where his friends sat with Asui. The table itself also had several empty seats. He then went to the table and sat next to the empty seat next to Yaoyorozu and the several empty seats next to him. "Hey, guys." He then let out a tired yawn.
Asui then stated the obvious. "You look tired Midoriya. Is it because of your quirk?"
Izuku gave a small nod. "Yeah. I need to get ready for the finals though."
Yaoyorozu then looked confused. "Then shouldn't you go get some food?"
Izuku then grabbed onto the Digivice that hung around his neck with a small smile. "Believe me, I will. Everyone?" After asking that a bright flash appeared around him and when it faded all his Knights appeared in the row of seats. "All right guys, you know what to do."
The Knights then nodded and went off to where the food was.
Everyone was confused, everyone in the room was confused. He was allowed to do that, but why?
Before anyone could ask Izuku he let out a powerful yawn and then fell asleep on the table.
Uraraka could not contain her confusion. "Ok, what's happening?"
Dorumon was the first Knight to come back, as he arrived with a tray full of food balanced on his head. He then sat next to Izuku and began to eat.
Everyone was still very confused.
Iida expressed it first. "Dorumon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't your forms become unstable when Midoriya is asleep."
Dorumon shook his head while he chewed. He then swallowed to explain. "Think of Izuku as the battery of a phone and we're the phone itself. When the battery is drained the phone doesn't work, but if you're charging the phone while using it, it slowly regains charge."
That explained things to a degree. The other Knights then arrived and began to dig in. Six mouths, six portions, one stomach.
Yaoyorozu then realized why. "I see. While Midoriya sleeps you all eat to get as much energy as possible."
The knights all nodded.
Agumon then revealed that this was the plan. "This was something we called "The Feast of Victory"."
Uraraka then let out a small laugh. "You guys really like to name stuff, huh?"
Veemon gave a nod. "Izuku says it helps to organize stuff."
Tokoyami was curious about something himself. "Dorumon, why didn't you directly attack Todoroki?"
Everyone turned to the knight curios.
Dorumon let out an annoyed breath. "Did you want us to lose?"
Everyone only became more curious.
Dorumon could see that. "Alphamon is strong, very strong. If I had attacked, I could have knocked them down, and Midnight would have disqualified us."
Veemon then got a little big-headed. "Yeah, and then I wouldn't have been able to score us the win."
Guilmon then popped it. "You didn't even know."
Veemon responded with a small whine. "Please, let me have this."
Impmon would have burst out laughing if there wasn't food in his mouth.
The group's peace was broken by the approach of someone new.
Specifically Agumon's peace. While he was scarfing food down his mouth, which could be mistaken for the singularity of a black hole, was suddenly held from behind and lifted by a stranger like a child hugging a toy.
The culprit's voice then got anyone who didn't see to look. "Oh my gosh! You are so adorable!" The voice came from a girl with wavy dark moss green hair.
Her sudden appearance managed to scare Gabumon and confuse everyone else.
Agumon struggled before giving Gabumon one last request. "Gabumon. Save my lunch."
Gabumon tightened his fist as tears threatened to spill from his eyes. "Of course, I will."
Uraraka was dramatically confused. "Hold on. It's not like he's gonna die."
Dorumon had an almost bored response. "Let them get it out of their systems."
Yayorozu then attempted to navigate the situation. "Uhm, excuse me but can you put our friend down."
The girl then snapped out of her excitement and looked at Yaoyorozu. "Wait, friend? I thought they were just a quirk." She spoke with fascination.
Agumon then spoke with some pride. "We aren't just any quirk. We're Knights. And can you put me down?"
The girl quickly did so. "Oh, I'm sorry. You're just the cutest dinosaur I've ever seen."
Uraraka kind of agreed. "He is adorable."
Asui then asked the obvious question to the girl. "Who are you?"
The girl then looked at Asui with a smile. "I'm Setsuna Tokage from Class 1-B. Nice to meet ya"
Uraraka was shocked by something. "Wow, someone in 1-B who doesn't hate us? That's a relief."
Tokage then gave a life. "Yeah, sorry that's the impression you have of us, but don't worry some of us aren't holding a grudge."
Iida gave a nod. "Relieving news to be sure, though I wish to apologize for our class representative's preparation methods."
The focus then shifted to the still sleeping Izuku.
Tokage was curious. "He seems to be a heavy sleeper."
Dorumon then spoke. "Yes, and when he wakes up he'll be able to call on our power in ways you wouldn't see coming. The finals are always one-on-one matches after all." The words he used along with the threatening aura he was giving off managed to give everyone goosebumps.
Yaoyorozu gulped as she got her answer. It could be taught and Dorumon was the teacher.
The rest of the Knights had a different reaction. They knew Dorumon wasn't actually being threatening rather this was how he showed his excitement. This was the energy he expected to see in the finals.
After that, the group would notice Mineta and Denki approaching. Something they were willing to wake up Izuku for.
*Several minutes later...*
After eating, sleeping, and threatening to unleash the power of a small sun Izuku was ready for the finals which would be a fighting tournament.
What happened before drawing lots to see who would fall in what bracket was both sad and inspiring, as Ojiro and a student of Class 1-B forfeited their spots.
After the matter was settled Izuku wasn't very excited that he'd be in the first match, less so when he realized that if he won his next opponent would be Todoroki. 'No offense to Sero, but he doesn't stand a chance.' He was also on edge because of his opponent. Hitoshi Shinso. When Izuku looked at him he quickly realized that he was the General studies student who had declared war.
Soon after it was time to begin. Izuku had something of a plan in his head and was doing his best to get himself ready. He was so close to winning, he just had to reach a little further.
A voice then broke Izuku out of his thoughts. And when he turned around he saw All Might in his deflated form.
All Might approached with some excitement. "Sorry I haven't been here to watch you. I hear you're doing great though. I'm sure Togata will be happy to hear that too."
Izuku wasn't even expecting to see All Might at all. "Yeah. How is Togata doing?"
All Might wasn't too surprised by Izuku's response. "He's doing great. In the final round like you."
Izuku gave a smile. "Well, I hope to see him at the top."
All Might now was surprised. To see the confidence in Izuku assured him. "Then go get 'em."
Izuku gave a ready nod. He then turned to face the challenge before him.
Present Mic then announced the event. "All right, audience! Let's cut to the good stuff and not delay these finals any longer. Welcome our first fighters. The one to beat with a kingdom of Knights. It's Izuku Midoriya from the hero course versus Hitoshi Shinso from general studies, Who seemingly appeared out of nowhere. The rules are simple. Immobilize your opponent or force them outta the ring. You can also win by getting your opponent to cry uncle! Bring on the injuries, 'cause we've got our very own Recovery Girl waiting on standby! So put your morals to the side and don't worry about playing dirty! But of course, don't put each other's lives at risk. Real heroes use their power to throw villains in jail, not kill them."
Izuku let out a ready breath to fully steel his nerves.
Shinso though spoke. "So you can just give up, huh?"
Izuku then looked at his opponent confused. "In a way, this is a test of how strong your spirit is. If you know what you want your future to hold for you, you can't worry about what other people think."
Present Mic's voice then pierced the boy's word. "Ready?
Shinso continued regardless. "That monkey was goin on about his pride earlier."
Present Mic then gave the go. "Begin!"
Shinso then got to the point. "But I just think he's an idiot for throwing away his chance like that."
Izuku was shocked to hear that and was ready to talk back, but his better judgment stopped him, and he chose to stay quiet.
Shinso was surprised to see that and tried to stoke Izuku's temper again. "What? Don't want to defend your friend? Some hero you are."
Izuku once more kept quiet.
That's when Shinso realized what was happening. "I see what's happening. That monkey told you about my quirk. I should've seen it coming."
In the stands, Ojiro smiled at the field. "Alright. He didn't fall for it."
All Might was confused as he watched. "Why isn't he doing anything."
Present Mic expressed his confusion through the microphone. "Wai, what aren't they doing anything? The first round should start off with a bang."
Aizawa had something of an explanation. "Be patient. It seems that Midoriya is aware of Shinso's quirk and is getting ready to make his move. Shinso's quirk is very strong, but knowledge of it is his weakness. Honestly, it's just another example of how our practical test is completely irrational since he couldn't use it against machines."
Shinso was starting to get frustrated. "Damn. You have no idea how blessed you are Izuku Midoriya? To have all that power wrapped around your face. I'm kind of jealous of you. What's it like to be so admired?"
That last question struck a chord in Izuku. He almost even slipped, but instead, he grabbed onto the Digivice. He then pulled it over his head and placed it on the ground.
Everyone in the area was shocked to see this and Present Mic had to express it. "Wait, what?! Midoriya has taken off the Digivice and decided not to use his quirk."
Shinso was both shocked and offended. "What? Do you think you're giving me a fair fight by not using your quirk? Isn't that a spit to the face? You're so lucky to have a heroic quirk. It'll be so easy for you to accomplish your dream! Well, what about someone like me?!"
At that Izuku rushed at his opponent silent and angry and landed a solid punch on Shinso's face.
Shinso took a few steps back from the shock while grabbing onto his face.
Izuku then finally spoke. ""Cheater", "lazy", "pathetic", "cheap", "attention thief", "slaver"."
Shinso fell back down to earth as Izuku spoke.
Izuku then explained himself. "Those were the words people used to describe me. Because of my quirk, anything I did was ignored. No one thought I deserved to be a hero. That's why we have to fight Shinso. To prove them all wrong. So stand up straight and fight me!"
Shinso was shocked. Midoriya was so strong he already looked like a hero, but this changed that. In a way, Midoriya was seen the same way he was. But could they really relate? That didn't matter. What he said was true, they had to fight. He pushed onward and threw a punch.
Izuku dodged with a backstep. He then grabbed Shinso's thrown arm and moves it to get an opening and punch Shinso in the gut.
Shinso then took more steps back from the pain.
Present Mic expressed surprise. "Who knew Midoriya could fight this well?"
Aizawa had a response. "That's not just what it is. Midoriya's quirk has allowed him to see several fights up close. The movements, technique. He's studied it all thoroughly and compared to that Shinso must be insanely predictable."
Shinso tries to grab Izuku to push him but receives a knee to the face.
Izuku then began to push Shinso to the edge of the ring.
Shinso responds by punching Izuku in his face.
Izuku took a step back and gave an unexpected response. "You have to hit me harder! Push yourself!" He then lands another punch on Shinso's gut.
Shinso hoped to get one last hit in but feels his knee buckle as Izuku stomped it.
Izuku then finishes it by giving Shinso one last push out of the ring.
And Midnight calls it. "Shinso is out of bounds! Midoriya advances to the next round!"
Izuku then raised his finger towards the sky to call on his own victory.
Present Mic then presented it. "After that unexpected brawl, we have the first winner of the final round. Class 1-A's Izuku Midoriya!"
His classmates were excited for Izuku's victory.
Tokoyami nodded. "So Midoriya will advance. That's one step closer to our encounter."
Uraraka was filled with awe. "Those were some crazy moves."
Iida gave a small smile. "Surprising us with a new skill, classic Midoriya."
Yaoyorozu nodded. "He truly is amazing."
Bakugo though didn't like it. Deku couldn't fight. He's weak, right? That's how it's always been. He'd prove it. He'd show them all whos really the best.
Present Mic then gave the two students a send-off. "Alright! I'll admit that was a boring match, but that's not what matters so let's show some love, everyone!"
The two boys had something else on their minds. The words spoken throughout the match echoed in their minds.
Before Izuku spoke. "Why do you want to be a hero?"
Shinso just turned to walk away. "You can't help what the heart longs for."
Izuku resonated with that. To him being a hero was his biggest dream, and to see someone like Shinso made him wonder what life would have been like without his quirk. Would he have been just like him? That didn't matter since nothing he'd say would do anything.
As Shinso walked toward his tunnel he stopped when he heard one of his classmates say something.
"You were awesome out there, Shinso!"
Shinso then stopped and looked up to see others.
One waved her hand to catch his attention. "We're proud a' you!"
Then another spoke. "You didn't tell us you were that good."
And even another. "Yeah, you're the star of our program!"
Then one gestured to the heroes. "Listen to them."
When Shinso looked up he saw the heroes talking about him.
The heroes were giving Shinso nothing but praise. Even expressing that his being in General studies was an oversight.
His classmates then continued. "Shinso, you hear that? They think you're incredible!"
Shinso then looked forward and spoke to grab Izuku's attention. "Depending on the results they might transfer people into the hero course. Remember that. Even if it didn't work out this time, I'm not giving up. Next time I'll hit harder. With everything I have. Then I'll win and be a better pro than anyone of you."
Izuku then gave a small smile and nodded with acceptance and respect.
Shinso then smiled and turned. "Remember now that you beat me you can't go and lose and make me look bad."
Izuku's smile grew saying everything he needed to. He then walked back to his tunnel.
All Might came up to him. "I heard the things you two said. It sounded harsh."
Izuku nodded. "Yeah, but if anything it just gave me more reason to push further."
All Might smiled at the boy. At first, he thought that he was expecting too much from the boy, but both he and Togata have been surpassing those expectations.
Izuku then made his way to his class and heard his friends call out to him.
Izuku then looks at Ojiro who has a smile and raises a fist. Izuku smiles back and makes his way to his friends. He sits next to Yaoyorozu and Uraraka.
Yaoyorozu then speaks up. "You did well Midoriya. We were all surprised by your skill."
Izuku then realized that everyone saw that. "Oh, yeah. Everyone saw that. Well, when you see so many fights happen you pick up on a few things. Besides
I'm not even that good. And your first round is gonna be way more impressive, your fighting Tokoyami after all."
Yaoyorozu's face then seemed distraught. She didn't know how to respond. That cloud of doubt still loomed over her head. "That's true..."
Izuku noticed the look Yaoyorozu had. She made it this far and still had doubts. "Hey, don't worry too much. If you remember your training and give it your all then you both can show each other what you're made of."
Yaoyorozu turned to look at Izuku and saw his determined smile. Even though she doubted herself it didn't seem like Izuku doubted her one bit. It made her smile in return. "Right."
Present Mic then spoke to start the next match. It would be Sero against Todoroki a match that in Izuku's mind had a definite winner.
When the match began Sero had wrapped Todoroki in tape and tried to fling him off the ring, but in an instant, everyone stopped and stared as the ground shook and the air froze.
Freezing Sero in place was a gigantic iceberg that came up to the stands above Izuku and it even stretched above the stadium itself.
Sero had lost by an avalanche and all the crowd could do was try to make him feel better.
Within the Digivice Agumon and Gabumon held each other terrified while trembling.
Gabumon was on the verge of tears. "He is gonna kill us!"
The other knights were in awe at that tremendous power. What would Izuku's plan to fight back be?
Izuku didn't know what to think. He felt a measure of awe, but he was filled with worry. Todoroki had practically tried to freeze hell over, but where did all that come from?
Todoroki then took time to freeze the iceberg and as the steam rose Izuku could see a piece of the sadness freezing the boy's heart.
The next match wouldn't be as fast as the last one, but it would be swift.
This time it would be Kaminari against a student from 1-B Ibara Shiozaki. A girl with dark green eyes and long vine-like hair.
When the match began Kaminari's immediate move was to shoot as much lightning as possible but Shiozaki just turned around and shot her hair into the ground creating a wall of vines. Soon after more vines sprouted out of the ground and trapped Kaminari. The match was over in two seconds.
Izuku had taken t his habit of writing things down in his notebook, but he brought his habit of mumbling under control this time. He started doing it when he was young, but after Guilmon he learned to get it under control.
Next up was a match Izuku hoped would go well Iida vs Hatsume.
What actually ended up happening was Iida being turned into an advertisement for Hatsume's creations for about thirteen minutes.
Most were very disappointed or mildly entertained, but Izuku found himself engrossed by the support gear. All that technology made him go into analytical overdrive and a storm of ideas for costume upgrades bellowed in his mind.
Hatsume ended it by stepping out of bounds giving the win to Iida like it was an exchange.
When Izuku stopped taking notes he looked to his sides and noticed that everyone was gone. "There matches are starting soon, so I should have seen that coming.
Next were Ashido and Aoyama.
Izuku had worked out how either could win, but it all depended on one assumption.
The fight would boil down to Ashido dodging lasers before getting close enough to melt Aoyama's belt and land a clean hit.
The fight had played out according to Izuku's assumption of Ashido's flexibility. The next fight made him anxious. Friend vs friend.
Present Mic wasted no time. "Now, for the sixth match. Offense and defense in one! The darkened warrior and darker shadow! From Class 1-A, Fumikage Tokoyami! Versus. The Great Creator. She was admitted based on recommendations and I think we can all see why. Also from Class 1-A, Momo Yaoyorozu!
Ojiro leaned forward to talk with Izuku. "How do you think this one will end?"
Izuku had a broad answer. "It depends on timing and execution."
Ojiro was curious now. "How so?"
Tokoyami was stone-faced as he awaited the beginning of the match.
Yaoyorozu was trying to think of a plan. With what she knew about Tokoyami he was almost unreachable. She had to find a way to defend herself and fight back.
Present Mic wouldn't give time for anything. "Sixth match... begin!"
Tokoyami went into immediate action. "Go, Dark Shadow!"
Dark Shadow then boosted out of Tokoyamis's chest. "I've got her"
Yaoyorozu quickly made a shield to block and was pushed back by the force. She hoped to counter, but Dark Shadow quickly dived back in to attack. She had to make something anything. What exactly wouldn't matter if she lost. She aimed her free hand at the fast-moving Dark Shadow and made the first thing that came to mind.
Dark Shadow's approach was stopped when suddenly a net shot at him causing him to miss Yaoyorozu.
Tokoyami wasn't too surprised by this. He had expected Yaoyorozu's reflexes to be honed.
Yaoyorozu then went into immediate action as she dashed for Tokoyami to attack. Making a staff in her free hand intent to swing.
Tokoyami then gives an order. "Dark Shadow, spin!"
Dark Shadow did as instructed after throwing away the net and spun in the air while dashing toward Yaoyorozu.
Yaoyorozu saw the creature approach her from the side. She pulled up her shield to defend, and when Dark Shadow made an impact his forward and rotational force pushed against Yaoyorozu causing her to go flying.
Midnight then called the match. Yaoyorozu is out! This match goes to Tokoyami!"
Present Mic then gave his commentary. "While not fast that was an overwhelming victory. Is it possible that Tokoyami's Dark Shadow is one of the greatest quirks ever? I think so!"
Yaoyorozu stood up now allowing the loss to sink in. "Even after all that I lost..."
Izuku was surprised by how quickly Tokoyami had thought to do that. " He's getting stronger. His original plan was to focus his attacks on her shield, but when she made an advancement he stuck to it with more power. Something he's been getting better at."
Ojiro gave a small nod. "Yeah, it looks like it. Maybe he didn't wanna hurt her. I bet she's really upset about how that went down. I feel bad for her."
Izuku looked down at Yaoyorozu as she walked with her head held down. He could see it now. He couldn't be sure, but doubt was unmistakable.
The next match would start soon and it was one Izuku was curious about. A winner was hard to discern.
"Ah, Midoriya so no one else has gotten back." Iida had returned after returning the gear he was "lent".
Izuku looked up at him as he walked down. "Oh, Iida. Yeah, Yoayorozu and Tokoyami just finished their match and Uraraka will be up soon."
Iida took a seat next to Izuku. "I see. Who won?"
Izuku looked a little saddened. "Tokoyami one and it looked like Yaoyorozu didn't even stand a chance."
Iida picked up on this. "I see. I hope she takes the loss well."
Izuku hoped for the same thing.
The next fight then soon began with the rock man Kirishima versus the steel man Tetsutesu.
The fight was just a fistfight between the two with their quirks.
It wasn't the flashiest fight, but Impmon was having fun.
As he watched the punch he seemed to cheer for both of them. "Yeah, that's right! Sock im in the jaw! But your back into it! Beat him into the ground!"
Veemon was confused. "Who are cheering for?"
Impmon had the most unsatisfying answer. "How can you not tell? The strong manly one duh."
The fight only ended when both competitors ended up knocking each other out with a final punch.
Impmon's excitement never died down. "Oh man, he's so cool!"
Veemon was still confused. "Who were you cheering for?!"
Tokoyami and Yaoyorozu had both returned. Tokoyami sat next to Iida while the still distraught Yaoyorozu sat next to Izuku.
It generated a new kind of awkward air.
Until Izuku spoke up. "Hey Yaoyorozu."
Yaoyorozu lazy turned to look at Izuku without much care in her eyes. She then became confused by what she saw.
Izuku was pointing to the sky like he had before but he kept his hand down. "Were rising as high as possible and when fall we can always find our way back up."
Yaoyorozu was starting to lift herself up and then her eyes widened as she saw the Iida and Tokoyami were doing the same. They were telling her it wasn't over. This was only the beginning. A smile came to her face thankful to have friends like these and someone like Izuku pushing them all forward. "Thank you."
The group then saw Uraraka walking out of her tunnel toward the arena.
Her friends were all anxious. She was facing Bakugo and Izuku especially knew how hard he'd hit.
Present Mic then began to announce the match. "The eighth and final battle of the final round matches. He was kind of a hotshot in the middle school, and just look at that determined face!" A face that could be described as an arrogant scowl. "From the hero course, Katsuki Bakugo. Versus. The one I'm personally rooting for, from the same class, Ochaco Uraraka!"
Both competitors readied themselves one with everything she had.
Bakugo then asked a question. "You're the one who screws with gravity. Right, Pink Cheeks?"
Uraraka was confused by the name. "Pink Cheeks?"
Bakugo continued without an answer. "Well if you're gonna give up do it now. 'Cause I'm not holding anything back."
The two then looked at each other only more intensely.
Iida was both curious and worried. "Midoriya. Do you think Uraraka stands a chance at winning against Bakugo?"
Izuku looked unsure almost doubtful of that outcome. "Kacchan's so strong. When it comes to close combat, he almost never has any openings. And the more he moves, the more he sweats, which just makes his quirk more powerful. He's even good at aerial combat thanks to those explosions. But if Uraraka is able to touch him, then she can catch him by surprise and push him out of the arena."
Present Mic finally brought it to a start. "Let the eighth match begin!"
Uraraka then quickly moved forward with her upper body low. "Giving up isn't an option for me!"
Her friends became hopeful. If she could just touch him then maybe just maybe.
Bakugo then reared his arm back and released an explosion too big to dodge.
This made the group worry.
Uraraka was pretty alright, as she protected her eyes from the smoke. "Stupid. Saw it coming and I still couldn't get out of the way."
Bakugo wasn't impressed. "You should have dropped out of the match." He then saw the girl's uniform coming out of the smoke. "There's no way you can beat me!" He then blasted it to the ground realizing it was just a jacket.
Uraraka then came out of the smoke behind him. She was right there. It was her chance.
Bakugo then quickly turned to send a huge blast across the ground knocking the girl away.
That's when the class truly couldn't deny how skilled Bakugo was. His reactions and reflexes are so fast and accurate how could Uraraka get close?
Once more Uraraka attempted her charge and Bakugo sent a large explosion in response that even broke apart parts of the ground.
Then again. And Again. Each time she'd face her challenge with determination and was met with only raging blasts. Again, and again as she kept low to the ground.
Present Mic would be lying if he said he wasn't worried. "Looks like she's not resting between attacks despite being exploded. The poor girl."
Everyone kept looking worried. Uraraka just kept taking one explosion after the other. Still, two people noticed something was off. Izuku and Monoma.
Soon a hero had begun to heckle Bakugo and the crowd was now booing him.
Present Mic commented. "The crowd is now booing Bakugo! And honestly, I kinda agree with what they're sayin-"
He was cut off by an elbow to the face from Aizawa. "Who started this uproar? Was it a pro? If so I suggest you go home and hang up your cape. Bakugo's actions are an acknowledgment of his opponent's strength. He knows she deserves to have made it this far, so he's making sure that he does whatever it takes to keep her at bay and come out on top."
Bakugo was acknowledging something. This girl refused to go down. That means he wasn't done yet.
Uraraka let out heavy breaths now having what she needed. "I think it's about time. Thank you Bakugo for keeping your eyes focused on me."
Bakugo was confused by that. "What?"
Izuku then gave a small smile. "Good job Uraraka. You made the sacrifice play by allowing Bakugo to attack you relentlessly and in turn, kept his eyes on you and away from what you were doing with all that rubble he was making." He then looked up and other's eyes followed to see rocks floating above the arena. Many, many rocks.
With this Uraraka touched her fingertips together causing the rocks to fall all at once creating a meteor shower.
Uraraka then dashed forward once more knowing that no matter what happened there had to be an opening.
Bakugo looked up at the falling debris and lifted his hand as Uraraka got close and let out an explosion so fierce and powerful that it blew apart all the debris and Uraraka with the shockwave. It was so powerful those in the stands could feel it.
Uraraka then began to slowly get up from the ground.
As the smoke cleared she saw a now imposing Bakugo. "I figured you'd have some stupid plane to beat me. You are friends with that damn nerd, after all."
Uraraka was filled with dread. "It took him one shot."
Everyone was shocked to see this immense display of power. It was like Todoroki all over again. Izuku wasn't shocked though. If anything he worried more about when something like that would happen.
Still, Bakugo wasn't untouched. He could feel his wrist screaming in pain from the pushback of the explosion
Uraraka didn't know what to do know. Her plan had failed. But she could still stand so she did. She could still fight so she would.
Bakugo then gave an excited smile. "All right then. Time for us to get serious. Uraraka!" He then dashed forward toward Uraraka.
Uraraka knew she couldn't give up. Not like this not yet. She had to push just one last time!
As they got close Bakugo could see the fire in Uraraka's eyes. Neither were ready to call it over. Once they got close he let out one final explosion expecting to hear that his opponent was knocked out of the ring, but he wasn't prepared to see a hand coming at him through the smoke. In that moment of surprise, of weakness Uraraka got him. He felt himself become weightless and saw that Uraraka was just as surprised as he was.
This was Uraraka's chance she just had to push him. That was until she same him move one arm behind him. With just one explosion Bakugo blasted at her slamming her with so much force she felt her knees giving out. She had hit the ground several feet back shocked that even her one chance was fruitless.
And with that Midnight called it. "Uraraka is out of bounds. Bakugo advances to the second round!"
Like that it was over. The first round had passed in a way no one had expected. The next round would only be filled with more battles of those who refuse to fall. Those with purpose. Those with dreams to chase after.
And there it is. The first round of the tournament. I had to skim through the stuff that didn't have major changes to it, but other than that yeah. I hope you enjoy what changes were there. The next chapter is gonna be so intense. Ah, I'm so excited! Izuku vs Todoroki oh yeah! Man, I'm absolutely ecstatic! Now to address something very important. I have received my first piece of criticism. Which was poorly worded. I'm sorry if that's mean, but for those who don't understand let me explain. (Note: These Authors' notes are literally me just rambling, so if I come off as mean I'm sorry I don't mean to.)
First, megakdre100 said. "To tell you the truth when are you gonna stop nerfing the Digimon because it getting really annoying how much your trying to stick to canon cmon get creative let your imagination go wild" Which is a claim I don't understand fully. First, you make it sound like the knights have been getting progressively weaker when they aren't. Did no one notice that they absolutely stomped Todoroki and the only reason he was in first place was because Flamedramon missed? I don't really see how that's a nerf it just happens sometimes. Second, Your claim of me sticking to canon while not being totally inaccurate does ignore some of the things I have done separate from canon. Like, say whole chapters that didn't exist in canon. However I'm not unreasonable. I've heard your demand and kinda agree. I should do more that diverges from canon and while this chapter isn't the best example I have plans. Lots of plans. The Hosu Incident is going to be fun. So thank you for the criticism.
Next is, and I didn't want to do this, ThunderBasilisk said. "Now I feel like the knights have been nerfed to much. Also hope the thing with Hatsume doesnt become common." Ok, where do I start here? Let's start with uhm the part I already discussed. The Knights were absolutely dominating in the last chapter they stopped Todoroki dead in his tracks. They just didn't have a lot of time left and couldn't attack him with too much force. That would have been risky. The other thing is did I write Hatsume badly? I am unsure. I thought I did her fine, but if I didn't I expect all of you to tell me. I won't improve unless I'm criticized. Again ThunderBasilisk did I write Hatsume wrong, or do you just not like her, or was it a joke? Man, I'm so confused.
Now for the only question I got which was from yurilatten57. "Great chapter are the dracomon are going to be like twins born at the same time but blue and green variant that would be cool to see" Well they won't be different colors in that form, but ye.
Now then tell me things. What did you like about this chapter? What didn't you? Did I write Setsuna properly or do you think I misrepresented her character? How do you think Izuku will approach his battle with Todoroki? Have you realized who I'm shipping Izuku with? Let me know. I have a lot of fun reading through reviews even if I don't understand them. It's nice. Well, I'm gonna go to bed now and since I won't be able to post for it happy early mothers day!
