Let Me Love

You say my skin is the wrong colour

That I am from the wrong creed

You say my race is evil

You hate that we've been free'd.

But does life seem that free to you

When I'm surrounded by your walls

My brother killed by your anger

Your guns caused him to fall?

I say our skin is the right colour

If we were stood up strong

Come; let me wash your feet

Let us prove them wrong.

-

You said my daughter was abnormal

That she never quite fit in

Bit of a swot and geeky

And in the end she let you 'win'.

But I have a question on my heart

My daughter took her own life

Was 'winning' really worth it

When it caused us all more strife?

I say that we all lost really

But if we stood up strong

We could stop the emptyness

We could prove them wrong.

-

You always used to hit me

You said I was no good

The bruises on my body hurt

But not like your words could.

I only tried to please you mummy

I tried and tried, I did

Instead you left me on a doorstep

Since then, from me you've hid.

I thought we both were bad then

But now I stand up strong

I still will always love you Mum

And I will prove them wrong.

-

You all say we are different

That we can never live together

You say the world is evil

There will never be peace - never.

That's never seemed quite right to me

When I'm surrounded by it all

Hatred, rape and murder

There is always love an'all.

Well JESUS came to save mankind

So that we can stand up strong

Join our hearts together

And prove the evil wrong.

-

So brothers, sisters; let me serve you

Let me love with all my heart

Only GOD can grant forgiveness

But I can make a start.
