Seruhiko often noticed that Niita got loose lipped when he was even faintly buzzed. Often paired up with him during events and usually with drinking as well, Seruhiko had a better view of the older man than most people did. Niita was known as the Ogre for his strict behaviour and strong sense of right and wrong. What most people didn't know was that he had quite the history of teaching.
"… and then Kobe-kun went and brought his girlfriend to class that day," grinned Niita as he waved his arm expressively. "And then we were all in a panic when she suddenly passed out and then Kobe surprised us all by solving a question that I chose for him to do on the blackboard."
Niita often wove tales of his previous teaching jobs before coming to Mahora. This one however, he hadn't heard before. He knew of the person that Niita referred to, Hitoshi Kobe, a young teenage genius who created an Artificial Intelligence and for some reason, the three years or so of events cumulated into a big smack down that was broadcasted world-wide.
"… Kobe-kun, he had this sister I taught before," said Niita as he sipped some more on his drink. "They were like night and day I tell ya. Then she shows up just before the entire world nearly went boom against that super virus that could materialize into the real world."
"Is Niita-sensei all right?" asked Negi Springfield, the little ten year old teacher from Seruhiko's side.
"He's just a little buzzed, that's all," said Seruhiko.
"And then there was my position at Tokyo University," chuckled Niita as he offered another drink to the pair. "Did you know I was the test admin for none other than Urashima Keitaro? Get that! One of the most famous archaeologists known to man!"
"Really?" exclaimed Negi, surprised and wide eyed. "I remember reading about him in Time magazine!"
"It's true, it's true," grinned Niita. "Negi-kun, you should meet him some day. The most amazing guy I ever had the chance to test before. And then I taught him for a year! Now that was something else."
"Aaah, for the good old days," said Niita, taking another drink. "Now here, it's all wild. I'm surprised nothing important has happened thus far."
"Well I guess Mahora can be tame at times," said Seruhiko as he and Negi shared a grin.
"Not talking bout that," said Niita dismissively. "I'm surprised nothing blatantly magical's happened. You two are mages and all and what, half the campus?"
"DWAH!" echoed Seruhiko and Negi. In the background, a whole table of girls collapsed in shock.
"Don't get me wrong, I love teaching in places that're weird," said Niita. "But maybe you should give me some idea on what's going on, instead of keeping me in the dark. I did teach Kobe-kun and Urashima-kun anyhow so I know what weird is all about. Maybe I should get Seta here as well…"
Seruhiko and Negi shared a glance and Seruhiko picked up a glass. "Sweet sake, Negi-kun? I think we're going to need it."
Negi nodded, taking a drink. "No time like the present. Eh, Niita-sensei, can you tell us more about your favourite students?"
"Of course!" exclaimed Niita as he took a drink. "Let's see, there was this one time that Kobe-kun went and dragged the whole class into a situation that involved giant pickles…"
