The Engagement:

Alison Cameron got out of her bed quietly, trying not to disturb the man in her bed. The man in her bed was Richard Martin a fellow doctor in the hospital she worked in. The two doctors met and fell in love, last night was their four-year anniversary and they decided that they were finally ready to sleep with each other. Alison knew she loved Richard, but she couldn't help but think about Chase. Robert Chase was a man she worked with the previous job, she always had feeling for him but never admitted it. She remembered the time when she and Chase had made love. She loved him, but she tried to shake that feeling away. That's why she transferred to a new hospital.

She took an extra blanket and wrapped it around her body as she walked to the bathroom. While she was taking her shower the only thought that reached her mind was 'What would have happened if I stayed with Robert'. She shook her head to take the thought out of her mind. When she got out of the shower she was surprised that nobody was in her studio apartment.

"Honey, are you……" she saw a note, which immediately shut her up.

The note read…………………

My Dear Allison,

I'm sorry I left so quickly, but I had to take care of something. I won't be at work today either. If any one asks you, just tell them I had a family emergency I had to take care of. See you tomorrow.

As Allison read this heart sank. She was hoping he would be alright. She walked to her silver Nissan 350z, the car Richard had bought her for her birthday. She hopped on to her car and went straight to work. When she reached the hospital her best friend, Jessica, was standing in the front door with two cups of coffee.

"Good morning Ally. You know I didn't think that you would come to work today after what you did last night." Jessica joked while handing Allison the other cup of coffee in her hand.

"Ha-Ha, very funny. Well I did go to work, but Richard didn't." Allison said.

"Why?" Jessica asked.

"That is a secret" Allison said, leaving it at that.

The rest of the day was a typical day of work. By the time she reached her door she was ready to fall asleep but couldn't, because she was too hungry to sleep. As she opened the door she noticed that there were flowers and candles everywhere. The nice scent of roses surrounded the room as she entered.

"Hello" she yelled.

As she walked to the balcony of her apartment she noticed that her table was looked exactly like the one in her favorite restaurant. She figured that Richard had set this amazing candle-light dinner for her. She sat on one of the seats and before she could blink Richard came in with a large cart, not a store cart a dessert cart, containing many bowls and plates. It was one of the best dinners Allison had ever eaten. They had a nice juicy steak with clam chowder, which they washed down with red wine, and they finished their dinner off with a slice of tiramisu. Just as Allison was about to put the last piece of tiramisu in her mouth, Richard took her hand and took out a beautiful solitaire diamond ring. Allison put her hands above her face.

"Allison, I love you very much. I've I wanted to ask you so many times. And I finally gathered enough energy to ask you. Allison Cameron, will you marry me?" Richard asked her.

Allison couldn't believe that he actually just proposed. For a moment Chase popped inside her head again, but she tried to forget about that.

"Yes" Allison answered.
