Kihaku Mori: The Sound of the Rain

I love the sound of the rain.

Unfortunately, it's not so easy to hear it anymore.

My apartment walls won't let me listen.

So I just wait… and wait...

And the rain would fall.

And I would stand outside to listen…….

I sat outside, soaked, but not caring how wet I was… Listening… To the falling rain.

'Mother,' I thought, ' Are you giving me this gift? For my birthday? Are you the angel that helps pour out the rain, mother?'

"Kihaku…" My orphanage friend begged, "come inside. You'll get the flu and die if you stay out there."

"I want to be with my mother," I said, spreading my arms to the sky, "and I am. The rain is my second mother. Not Arimai. And I will not leave until it stops."

"But, Kihaku…"

"I'm tired of losing things. And true joy is one of them. Don't go away, Omoi. Do you promise, Omoi? To not leave me? To not ever disappear, or leave me, like my family did?"

"No. I don't want…" She ran into the rain with me, "to lose anything else, either. I'm not going anywhere, Kihaku." Omoi hugged me and we both sat there, in an embrace for hours…

Until the rain finally began to slow.

"Remember, Omoi. Remember, that no matter where we are, I'll never leave you until we forget. Until we forget. To not be afraid of the darkness, and use the precious memory of each other to light up our heart, our joy and a candle."

"I won't ever forget. I'll always remember you as the soul of a forest."

A/N: Will EVENTUALLY turn into a Kingdom Hearts Story. Maybe I've had too much of a Kingdom Hearts overdose... 20 hours in a week... And, skrew it, STILL haven't beaten Ursula II, yet! gr... XD
