It started pouring as soon as we got back into town, if that wasn't an omen I don't know what is. Scott wanted to drop off Malia and Kira before going to Deaton.

"Are you crazy?" I asked "What if he wakes up? We don't know if it's him in a younger body, or if he's just younger…or…or I don't know, but this is not the time to be chivalrous!" Scott looked at Stiles who just shrugged.

"Hey dude, we've been in a car for 10 hours with too many people, I don't think that stopping by Deaton's first is going to be that big of a deal," Stiles said which thank goodness someone here could see sense.

We were all a little grumpy. The girls were tired of seeing me turn around to look in the trunk at Derek. I was worried, he hadn't opened his eyes all on the way here, hadn't even made a sound.

Lydia and I jumped out of the jeep as soon as we pulled into the Animal Clinic, we held the doors open as Scott threw Derek over his shoulder and carried him in. Stiles helped him lower him onto the metal gurney.

Deaton looked a little shell-shocked "Wow."

"Wow? Wow as in, "I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do," kind of wow? 'Cause that's the kind of wow we were hoping for," Stiles asked

"I think you might be overestimating my abilities,"

Lydia touched his hand "He's cold. Really cold," I looked at her worriedly and pulled the blanket around him tighter.

Deaton took his hand and checked his pulse. Scott asked, "Do you think this is permanent?"

Deaton shined a penlight into Dereks eyes "I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate. This is well beyond my experience," Well I had been saying that ever since I met him, finally we agreed on something.

"So what do we do with him?" Stiles asked.

"Until he wakes up. Probably not much. It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here," Deaton told us.

"You mean from Kate?"

"If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate," We all nodded.

Lydia rubbed her forehead "Why would she want to do this to him?"

"Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be any good for anyone but her," Deaton replied.

Stiles scoffed "And bad for everyone else,"

"You guys should probably go home. He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night... And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again," Deaton cajoled.

"Well I'm not leaving," I told them as Derek unconsciously squeezed my hand " My grades are fine... Despite missing a few classes. Plus it makes sense for me to be here,"

Stiles was protesting for some reason, Lydia grabbed his shoulders and gave him a little push towards the door "Let's go guys," Stiles was still protesting

"Text us if anything happens," Scott told us flipping up his hood. He nearly carried Stiles through the door.

"Do you have any hot water bottles or anything?" I asked turning towards Deaton "I'd like to get him warmed up.

That had him scurrying around and getting them for me. I made sure the water was hot before filling each one, careful to not put them on his bare skin but all around him. It worried me more feeling how cold he is because my Derek always ran hot.

Deaton brought me a chair, I sat down and laid my head next to his. Why was this happening?

I woke up a little while later and sat up as I heard rustling. Deaton was standing over Derek checking his heart rate "How is he," I asked blearily.

"His heart rate is alarmingly high,"

"He's a lot warmer now, at least," I told him.

"Arielle, I'm going to try something. I want you to keep holding his hand if that's okay,"

I helped his hands but protested when he cut Derek's arm "That looks like it healed really fast,"

"Unusually fast,"

"What does it mean? Also, don't do that again," I warned

"I'm not sure. Let's try something else. Grab me a five-milliliter syringe. Top drawer,"

"Um no, what did I just say? This isn't an excuse to experiment on him, not without his permission," I protested. He pleaded with me to see reason, that it may help him. We turned from our argument to see Derek standing up.

"Derek?" I asked trying to see his face.

"Derek, are you all right?" Deaton asked. Then proceeded to say his name again.

"Stop talking," I whispered to Deaton "He's overwhelmed,"

Deaton ignored me which resulted in Derek slicing at him with his claws. I grabbed Deaton out of the way which caused us both to fall. Before I could get up again Derek was gone.

We met with Scott and Stiles when they were out for lunch "I don't think he's just younger in body. I think he's younger in his mind too," Deaton told them.

"He didn't recognize either of us. Although it was hard to tell because he looked like he was scared out of his mind," I added. I was trying not to hold it against him for not knowing me, since that wasn't a rational thought for this situation. Then again, none of this was rational.

Stiles looked at Scott "So if you're a teenage werewolf and you're scared, where do you go?"

"A wolf goes back to its den. But Derek lives in a loft,"

"Not when he was a teenager," Stiles said shrugging.

I agreed "So he would be at the Hale House?"

"He wouldn't remember the fire. It wouldn't have happened yet," Deaton added.

"Hold on. If we do manage to catch up to him, what are you going to say to him? That his whole family is dead?"

"I guess I'm going to have to," Scott told us.

"Yeah, right," I said "What if I call Peter?"

"He doesn't know Peter how he is now," Stiles said "But, she's probably right. Maybe you shouldn't. You know, at least until we figure out how to get him back to normal,"

Scott shook his head "I can't lie to him,"

"Okay, I'll do it," Stiles said easily. He probably thought that would be fun.

"I don't think any of us can. Remember, he can hear a heartbeat rising. When we find him, we tell him the truth,"

"If he gets to the house first, you won't have to," Deaton warned.

I remembered that I left my car at home when we went on our little road trip. I turned toward Deaton and flashed him a smile "I'm going to need your keys,"

Stiles protested saying we could all go in the Jeep but seeing as he was nowhere to be found and I was already getting out of the car I would say I was right to leave them. I heard shouting from inside the fence and got there in time to see one of the officers, who I believed was named Haigh grab Derek and haul him up.

"Hey!" I shouted angrily and ducked under part of the open fence. I could hear Jordan trying to get him to calm down, then that jerk tased Derek.

"Haigh, stand down!" He shouted. I was ready to rip into him. Jordan saw me "Arielle?" I launched myself at Haigh and Jordan caught me around the waist "Arielle I've got this I promise. I'll make sure the kid is safe. Why don't you follow us to the police station,"

"We should be arresting her too, she just tried to assault a police officer," Haigh grumbled dragging Derek up.

"She was trying to help the kid, and I am not going to let her get punished for that," Jordan looked at me "Meet us at the sheriff's station," I nodded trembling with anger.

I got into Deaton's car calling Scott on my way there "Change of plans, we're going to the police station. Derek just got arrested,"

"He already sounds back to normal," Chirped Stiles in the background. I hung up on them.

I paced in the lobby watching and making sure Haigh didn't go anywhere near Derek. Derek seemed confused why I was watching him, and Haigh kept glaring at me. I saw Jordan walk to Derek and kneel down.

"The other deputy thinks I'm an idiot for even asking, but I have a feeling if I take these cuffs off, you're going to be okay?" Jordan asked calmly taking one cuff off of him at his nod "And I think you'll help us figure out what happened to your family so that we can get you out of here. Am I right?" He asked slipping the next one off.

"The other deputy's the idiot," Derek told him rubbing his wrist.

Jordan laughed "I can't argue with that,"

There was a commotion about how he kept coming back as Derek Hale. Sheriff Stilinksi kept looking close at Derek's face and then going back to the picture. Derek was looking at him like he was stupid, which he was sort of looking like if I was honest.

Stiles and Scott ran in and started waving at him. He pointed to his office and said "I'll handle this," to Jordan and Deputy Haigh.

I ignored Haigh's glare he shot me when I sat down next to Derek "You alright?" I asked quietly looking at him. He eyed me and nodded. It made me smile because it looks like he is just as nonverbal as a teen as he was an adult. The smile made him relax a little. Until the Sheriff called us in.

"Why would I go anywhere with you?" Derek asked after Scott explained that the Sheriff was willing to release him into our custody.

"There was an accident. You lost some memory, but we can help you get it back," Scott told him and confirmed that he had lost a lot of his memories. "But you can trust us," Scott told him getting on his level and flashing his eyes.

"You're an Alpha." Derek stated, "Okay, who are you?" He asked and then got frustrated "And who is he? Who are you?" He asked Stiles.

"Oh, we're the guys keeping you out of jail," he said unhelpfully. Derek said no to Scott's next plea "Okay, dude, you almost tore apart two cops back there. You need to listen to us. And that starts with no fangs, no claws, no wolfman. You got that?" Stiles demanded, "You coming with us or not?"

"You want me to trust you?" Derek asked, "Where's my family?" Where's my mother?" He pleaded. I reached out to rub his back, he unconsciously moved toward the comfort.

"There was a fire. And... They're not here anymore. They're fine. Just had to move out of Beacon Hills. And we're going to take you to them as soon as we figure out how to get your memories back," I shot Scott an incredulous look. He had said he was going, to tell the truth. I gave him a look but Stiles shook his head at me.

Derek sighed "Okay,"

Stiles and Scott talked in hushed tones, and I lightly chatted with Derek who seemed much more at ease. "And where are you going?" Stiles asked out loud as Scott opened the door to the office.

"I'm going to go talk to the guy we should have gone to before,"

"You mean like I said hours ago?" I scoffed and followed him out.

"Wait you're going to leave me here with him?" Derek asked slightly alarmed at the prospect of being one on one with Stiles.

I smiled "Don't be too worried. You'll terrify him when your older," It made Derek smile, and Stiles sputter in protest.

"Thanks for that, and oh yeah, I hate that guy!" Stiles called after us.

"Oh and Sheriff, later I would like to lodge a complaint about an officer," I told him before we walked out.

"Parish and Haigh were only doing what they thought was best," Sheriff Stilinksi said placatingly, I could see Haigh in the background glaring at me again and Jordon looking deflated.

"Jordan is not the problem," I told him and looked at Haigh right in the eye.

"We'll talk later" the Sheriff let me know.

Scott followed me to the animal clinic where I dropped off Deaton's car and got on the back of Scott's bike. We got off to find Malia standing in front of us like she had been waiting.

"What are you doing here?" Asked Scott.

"I heard you were coming to talk to Peter. And since Lydia tells me he's basically Satan in a V-neck, I figured you shouldn't be alone," I laughed at that description.

"I can handle Peter," Scott assured her.

"Then why is she here?" She asked not even looking at me. Well, rude.

Scott sighed "She can handle him better than anyone," which made me smile.

"Well, you can handle him better with me," She told us and walked in like she owned the place. I mean she could technically inherit it one day, so who cares? She looked at Scott curiously "What's wrong with you?" He denied anything "Your heart's pounding like crazy. Are you nervous?"

"He's just bad at introductions," Peter called not looking up from his book. He looked fantastic.

Scott sighed "Peter... This is Malia," he looked like he would give anything to not be in this situation. Stiles would be so mad later.

He snapped his book closed and looked at her in awe. Man, he was giving himself away. He looked at her curiously as he walked up "Beautiful eyes. Did you get them from your father?"

"Mother," Malia said confusedly.

"Interesting," He seemed to remember himself "Anyway, I'm sure they've told you a lot about me,"

"The homicidal killing spree came up,"

"Well, we're all works in progress," Peter said cheerfully which made me smile just a little.

Scott and I watched them banter back and forth "Well when you progress to your next killing spree, why don't you try and make sure they all stay dead?" Oh. and we've hit this subject hard.

Peter was confused by the change in direction "What is that supposed to mean?"

"What do you know about people being turned by a scratch?" Scott asked him reluctantly.

"Did you scratch someone, Scott?" He asked curiously, I could practically feel Scott roll his eyes "Don't worry about it, the claws have to go pretty deep,"

"But it's possible?" I asked.

"Like if you clawed out someone's throat?" Scott hinted heavily.

"Well, yeah, it's possible," He rolled his neck "It's also beyond rare. We're talking one in a.." Oh, and there is the look of regret and realization." ...million," He growled out the last part. I felt heat flush in my cheeks, I do love the growl. He gave me a little warning look before turning and gripping his desk tightly. Now he was just showing off. I shook my head to get focused. "Can't someone in this town stay dead?"

"I think they were hoping you would," Malia said frankly, I snorted then covered my mouth in embarrassment when they looked at me.

"Do you have any idea why Kate would turn Derek into a teenager again?" Scott asked trying to keep this conversation on track. Peter asked what color his eyes were, they were blue which meant it was after Paige died.

"Which could mean around the time he first met Kate," Peter said thinking hard.

"Derek and Kate knew each other?" Scott asked having a hard time believing him.

Peter gave a chuckle turning to us and looking me right in the eye "Biblically," Then focused on Scott "That's right, Scott. You weren't the first wolf to climb into a hunter's bed,"

Well, now I wanted to turn Derek back so I could murder him. I stopped myself, it was before me it doesn't matter. Breath in Breath out.

"Okay, Derek went to the site of the house thinking it was still there, right?" Peter asked us.

"Yeah. But he doesn't remember the fire," I said thinking back to the shock I saw on his face when he was looking at where his home had been.

Peter thought a little longer pacing "But if he doesn't remember the fire, then he doesn't remember that it was Kate that set it,"

"So what does that mean?" Malia asked probably as lost as I was.

"Kate didn't just take him back to being a teenager. She took him back to the age where he still knew her," he told us smirking "When he still trusted her,"

Scott called Stiles, and he confirmed that Kate took Derek as Scott had called. Peter grabbed his jacket, he and Malia ran for the door.

"Wait," Scott called out.

"For what? Kate's out there twisting her way into Derek's head yet again. We need to find her," He told us urgently.

"All we need is a scent," Malia seemed excited.

"That could take hours. If we want to get ahead of her, we need to figure out where she's going," Scott told them shaking his head.

My phone rang. "It's Lydia," I told them and put it on the speakerphone. She told us how she was called to a gas station where she found a man who had been ripped apart. Scott asked her to take pictures. We all were surprised at the level of mutilation. "So why?" I asked them. I couldn't think of a single reason why she may have done this.

"I don't think she could help it. This was done in a frenzy. It's not murder. It's a symptom," Peter said shaking his head at the pictures.

"Of what?" I asked alarmed "Some weird were disease?"

"No. She can't control the shift,"

"Derek said he had the same issue on the full moon," Scott told us "That he was still learning,"

Malia looked at him "Kate's still learning?"

"She wants to learn," Peter confirmed

"So she wants Derek to teach her?" Malia assumed.

"No. She wants the Triskelion,"

"What does that mean?" I asked Peter.

"There's no time, they are headed to the vault, the Hale vault,"

()()()()()()()()

We were running up the steps of the school when Malia paused and started turning around in circles.

"Did you catch a scent?" Scott asked looking around

"It's the same one. The same one as Mexico,"

"What is she talking about?" Peter asked me as they talked it out.

"Uh we ran into something big in Mexico, and it hurt her pretty easily. Oh, and that it smelled like death," I told him "Which means it could be pretty much anything,"

A hollow growling sound filled the air. I could see Peter tense "Oh, I've heard that sound before. Did it have an animal skull? A human wearing a skull over its face?"

"I didn't see it," I said at the same time that Malia told him, "I think so,"

"What are they?" Scott asked looking at him.

I stepped closer to Peter "Berserkers," He sighed. Then he was grabbing Malia and pulling her back as she had tried to go after it "Are you crazy?"

She looked way too excited to fight "There's just one of them,"

"And that means we have a chance," He warned.

"To beat him?"

"To survive," Peter said then turned around and ran the opposite way. We all paused in surprise looking at each other and then scrambling after him.

Malia was fast, but I almost slid into her when she stopped abruptly. There was a Berserker in front of us. The one at the bottom of the stairs couldn't have gotten here that fast.

"It's both of them," Malia called out while we inched up the stairs keeping an eye on it "They're both here,"

"Where the hell's Peter?" Scott asked us.

"I don't know. He just took off," Malia called out as we turned and ran up another set of stairs.

"Which we really should have seen coming," I called out before another one blocked our way. I looked at Malia "You go left I'll go right," She nodded at me, we both jumped and did a cat leap to get up onto the halfway above us. Scott lept straight up and pushed himself up to meet us. They followed us. Scott and Malia got the bright idea to start clawing at them. Scott got smashed into the column and thrown while Malia got slashed in the leg going down and trying to push herself away from it. I ran for the one in front of Malia kicking the back of its knees.

It went down but was getting back up again. I couldn't even do anything about the second one right now, they were just so large. Kira was next to me when I looked over. holding her katana. I kneeled as she lept over me and forward starting to attack them. They were staggering back, I was up on my feet ready to help if I could.

Nothing can be that easy. Kira had been doing so well but she paused to make sure that Scott was looking at her. I stepped past her grabbing one of their arms and using my momentum to stop its punch and turning him around. The other one knocked her down hard. They were now both advancing on me. Well crap. I skipped backward dodging punches. I tried to flip one using its mask but it was just solid muscles, it flung me back like I weighed nothing "Ow,"

I was getting up again when there was a blur of motion. Young Derek was fighting just like the adult one would have. I was mesmerized for a second before I saw him get pushed into the lockers. I shook off the feeling and kicked another back of the knee move to get it down for a second. Derek got punched down, I swore his face shifted which distracted me enough to get punched in the gut, luckily I was so short or I would have gone over the second-story railing. Derek flipped over one of them landing in a crouch and howling. The Berserkers for some reason ran away.

"Derek?" Scott called out

He slowly turned around, his eyes flashed yellow. "Der?" I asked walking up to him and searching his eyes for any hint that he knew me. His eyes turned back to their normal green, he smiled tiredly "Derek!" I called out happily and crushed him into a hug. He lifted me up kissing me easily. I pulled away to look at him just to go back to peppering his face with kisses.

"Not to break this up but we should find Peter and Kate," Scott called to us. I pulled away from him sliding my hand down to hold his, not willing to let him go just yet. Derek led us to the vault where Peter was kneeling in front of a safe. He was mumbling something quietly.

I let go of Derek's hand to walk past Lydia and Stile to kneel next to him to see if he had gotten hurt, assuming he got in a fight with Kate. "He's fine," laughed Stiles "He just got robbed," He was very clearly amused at the situation.

"Somebody planned this," Peter growled gripping my hand on his shoulder tightly. At least he was talking, I had been worried he was catatonic.

"How much did they take?" Lydia asked curiously.

He stood up to face us, I stepped back till I felt Derek's hand on the small of my back. "117... "

"Thousand?" Stiles asked impressed.

Peter turned to look at the safe, shoulders falling and sighed "Million,"

Holy Shit.

Back at Derek's I finally pulled myself away from his lips to rest my head on my palm "Your eyes, they were yellow," I told him.

"What do you mean?" He asked sitting up and pulling a sheet around his waist protectively.

"I mean, when you turned back into you….your eyes were yellow instead of blue," He got out of bed moving to a mirror. He flashed his eyes. I could see he looked overwhelmed "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything," I felt awkward, I wondered if I should grab my things and let him be alone. I stayed still instead, waiting to see what would happen.

"What did she do to me?" He asked in a whisper. Looking at me he seemed a little lost so I opened my arms. He moved into them pulling me in for a kiss and then resting his forehead against mine "I'm so glad I'm back,"

"Do you remember everything that happened?" I asked him.

"I think so, there are things missing, but most of it yeah. I can look back and I knew I didn't know you. It's a weird feeling,"

I nodded "So, what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to find Kate,"
