Author's Headnote: HA! You thought you'd be rid of me and this story, but I was working on the cover art! It's a work of progress when I made this headnote, so if you see a terrible doodling when I upload this, don't come crying to me. Anyways, let's see how Ruby hides her vampirism from her sister and the girl the RWBY Fanbase wants her to make-out with.

End of Main character status report

Beacon Academy, 5:30 AM, Tuesday, RWBY Dormitory

Ah, morning. Ruby used to be delighted when the sun rises, now she hates it because she'll burn into a crisp if she dares step outside during daylight hours without covering up her head. But she won't let the wretched daystar ruin her day, oh no! She'll be spending time with her team, all of which are asleep. Which is why Ruby is making a large breakfast for her team which will take around 1 hour, 15 minutes to complete. Sure, it was Blake's turn to cook today, but Ruby thinks she won't object to a complementary 6:45 grand breakfast. Ruby's culinary skills got her second place in beacon's first semester cooking contest, first place being Ren (nobody can deny he's the only person who has ever made black licorice and gravy taste good together). Ruby's cooking up pancakes (due to their absorbent properties, so she could put some blood in it and pass it as strawberry syrup), Along with a degree of bacon, tuna, and eggs (Over-easy, Yang loves over-easy!), she is also preparing cooked apples and hash browns. Ruby would make pancakes for herself, but she doesn't have a vial of blood she could pass as 'Ruby's special strawberry syrup: DO NOT TOUCH'. Instead, Ruby would lie and state she already ate earlier. Weiss' tastes are well more 'highbrow', so her pancakes would be made independent of Blake and Yangs, as blueberry rosemary pancakes. Yang prefers spicy food, so her pancakes are made of savory potatoes mixed with some chili peppers. Ruby and Blake didn't spend much time with one another before Ruby's... changes, but she knows Blake likes apple cinnamon pancakes.

3 pancakes for each of them. Whilst the pancakes are being made, Ruby prepares to make sandwiches for each of them. Weiss, isn't much of a sandwich person so she gets a breakfast salad instead, it's mostly apples, lettuce, onions, and deviled eggs (Ruby never liked the taste of deviled eggs, and likely never will). Blake gets a simple tuna melt, which will be heated up with the standard sandwich heater. Yang for some reason when asked what's her favorite breakfast sandwich, she always answers 'breakfast burrito'. Is a burrito a sandwich? Sure, she may understand Yang's arguments on why a hotdog is a sandwich, but a burrito is just beyond her. Ruby just prepares it anyway.

Since Ruby showered and got changed ahead of time, the rest of the team went on and prepared to shower on the first thing in the morning, after responding to nature's call that is. Since Ruby is a vampire, her undead body doesn't need to pee, and thus uses the bathroom less often, only for bathing and showering to keep the 'vampire smell' at bay. Her teammates shower 1 at a time, sure they're all girls, but that doesn't mean throw modesty out the window. This is why Ruby is making a 1-hour breakfast, not a 30 minute or 15 minute one, so by the time her whole to is clean and clothed, they'd be ready to eat.

I hope Blake won't mind taking a break from the chef's hat today.

The entire grand breakfast is ready, just need to time to cool off aaaaaand... Nora is eating the pancakes, even Yang's Savory spicy ones. How did she even get in here? The doors check the students identity to open dorm doors, the only way Nora could suddenly enter the RWBY dormitory is if she was let in or if she some how broke in!

"Nora?" Ruby asked, confused.

"Ruby? Where did you get that bandanna? It's covering up your cute smile!" Nora asked and said in a very energetic manner.

"I got it from a- WAIT! Don't try to derail me! How did you get in here?"

"You forgot to lock the door to your dorm."

"I thought it locks automatically!"

"It usually does around at 8PM, until someone opens it on either end. Ah well, one mystery at a time!"

"Wait, what mystery?" Ruby asked again, confused.

"Ya know, the mysterious 'Beacon Blackout'! Since you left to get those contact lenses for Yang, Jaune decided that Team JNPR will become the youngest team to crack down a mystery and save the world!" Nora stated in an energetic, positive, and serious tone!

"Did you add that last part?"

"Yep!"

"Figures, Jaune has been taking my advice on being more of an assertive leader, just he was never the ambitious 'put statues of me in front of town square' kind of way."

"mmm... what's that- Nora? What are you doing here?" Yang asked in a surprised tone.

"The door was unlocked." Ruby replied.

"She came in at around 1 AM, Yang. She likely forgot to lock it while she was sneaking her way back in without waking you two up." Blake defended Ruby.

"I didn't try to peel off information off her, I trust Rubes." Yang said to Blake

"There were pancakes, Yang. You think I only eat Ren's pancakes, even though Renny's cooking is the best!" Nora stated and answered Yang's question.

"I'm standing right here you know!" Ruby shouted.

"Right, can we eat our breakfast now?" Yang asked, being hungry and all.

"Go ahead, I'm gonna get back to my dorm to plan the investigation with Jaune now, bye!" Nora stated as she blitzed out, although she only was normally running. Nora did not have a speed semblance like Ruby.

As Team RWBY (Minus R) was eating breakfast, the R in Ruby was a bit more distracted on the thought. The sudden blackout in Beacon, how did that happen, and who would want to disrupt the power supply in Beacon? Is it an accident, or was it sabotage? Even criminals would see the importance of huntsmen and huntresses, they keep the grimm at bay, nobody likes grimm. But than it hit Ruby, perhaps it was the vampires? She did overhear them saying they needed a vampire to infiltrate Beacon, was that the task she would have been assigned to if she had not escaped? Obey the orders of some elder vampire and betray her friends? Never! The White Fang is a plausible candidate too, just because Torchwick is leading them, doesn't mean she can't rule them out or Torchwick himself, that man has an agenda. One that requires a lot of dust! And beacon is powered by dust converters! So Torchwick is not off the hook for this!

"So... Ruby, why didn't you make some food for yourself? and you must have been so tired making this for us! Go catch some rest." Weiss asked and offered.

"I'm not hungry, I ate out while I was away. And I don't feel tired." Ruby replied.

"Not tired? That's the dumbest thing I've heard come out of your mouth Ruby." Weiss stated angerly

"For once, Weiss is right-" Yang said before being interrupted.

"Hey!" Weiss said angerly

"You've been up for almost 24 hours Rubes, you're gonna need to hit the hay, we can hang out tommorow!"

"But but..." Ruby said... mumbled? Whatever, those noises were made by Ruby.

"No Buts! Go to bed!"

"Fiiine. I'll go to bed Yang!" Ruby gave in to Yang's demands, although she isn't tired (likely because vampire's can't become tired from what she knows), she goes into the bathroom and changes into her pajamas. Modesty first! Even if Ruby swings for the home team!

After getting her pajamas on, Ruby climbed up to her bunk, put the sheets out under her, crossed her arms, closed her eyes, and stopped breathing. Since Ruby's a vampire, breathing's only needed to talk and speak, she does it anyway to make herself more human, even if there's no actually respiration occurs, the air doesn't change going in or out.

Character Change: Ruby Rose - Blake Belladonna

Beacon Academy, 7:15 AM, Tuesday, Beacon Courtyard

Blake needs to get some blood for Ruby, because she'd likely be thirsty once she wakes up. Which will be around 4:30 PM, still daylight, but it's the perfect timing so Weiss and Yang won't ask questions. Blake's still wrapping her head around Ruby of all people being a vampire, she's nice and sweet, and wouldn't harm a fly (unless the fly was attacking someone). But from she told and showed Blake, she wasn't always one. Who knew vampires have expressed colors on their lip veins? Blake took out her scroll and looked up at the news.

INSERT NEWS MUSIC HERE!

"Good Morning Vale. Lisa Lavender here to report on an arbitrary grimm attack last night." Lisa lavender said in a generic newscaster monotone voice.

"Police Investigators and Professional huntsmen local to Vale investigated the scene. There were 5 bodies found in an alleyway, 4 of which didn't show to have any blood on them."

"Four of them belong to radical Faunas rights organization, the White Fang. one of them is a woman named 'Burgundy Belle' we at VNN send regards to her family."

"We now go live to professional huntsman, Grimm Expert, and Beacon Professor Peter Port, at the scene of the grimm attack!"

"It's an honor being part of this investigation Ms. Lavender." Port stated.

"This Grimm attack is unlike anything I've seen before, the bodies were all killed differently, most grimm don't have the intellectual capacity to be creative with their killing! Not to mention sneaking past the Grimm alarm on Vale."

"At first glance it looks like the ordinary beowulf attack, but here's where a true huntsman would track down! Beowulves are pack grimm, yet there is only evidence of one grimm in this scene!"

"As you can see, the claw marks show that they don't belong to a beowulf either, the marks are smaller, and thinner, and they dug deeper into the body. The grimm would have to have taken some sort of humanoid shape! And look here, 3 of the bodies have shown to have bite marks on them, all of which are on the neck! Clearly the grimm attacking these poor individuals were only interested in the blood, not the rest of the body unlike most grimm. This is remarkably fascinating!"

"This last one has 2 additional bite marks, one on each leg. It's evidenced that this grimm can comprehend the negativity of their victims, and enjoys them. Since this one appeared to have witnessed suffering before he passed away."

"A Truely remarkable specimen, I'll relish the day I finally capture and study it!"

Huh, so that's Ruby's incident when she blacked out, and it looks more brutal than she described it.

"Thank you, Mister Port." Lisa Lavender montonely stated.

"Now on to the main report from yesterday, a Blackout at Beacon Academy. A surprising event that has shocked the students of staff of this prestigious academy."

"Apon investigating the dust capacitor for Beacon academy, the main dust battery was removed, and the CCT relay has shown evidence of sabotage, blocking off every student inside Beacon walls from using their scrolls. Vale's Chief of Police, and lead officer of the Kingdom's law enforcement, Paul Blue is currently having police from all corners of Vale on this case. Although the law enforcement does not have a prime suspect, they insist on investigating everyone, teachers and staff included on this case and will identify a number of prime suspects to see who was responsible for this case!"

"This is a great security breach on our kingdom, we cannot stop until our people are safe from the villain who wants Vale to collapse and it's people with it! Every single person who visits, attends, and works with Beacon will be placed as a suspect; we cannot allow bias to threaten security. We'll investigate every nook and cranny in that school. We cannot let this villain get away with this crime against Vale! I want my daughter to walk these city walls safe from criminals, Sure I understand we cannot stop crime altogether, but I can make sure it cannot threaten the lives of everyday citizens!" Chief Blue stated, his speech shows a lot of pride for Vale.

Blake shut off the news reports. with the police investigating every single location in Beacon, it'll be a lot harder smuggle blood for Ruby to drink. It'll be a lot harder to sneak out as well, she'll likely need to be removed as a suspect before leaving school grounds, same with the rest of Blake's team. They'd likely place Sun as a prime suspect just because he's a student from Haven, not Beacon. But Blake knows he's more of a gold-hearted rogue, not some dirty saboteur who would increase his team's chance in victory. Blake would know if the White Fang is behind this, the saboteur would have to be faunas. But what if it was the vampire's? What if they somehow actually plotted this just to turn a beacon student into a vampire and bring them back as a mole whose true loyalty lies with them. That wouldn't make sense since that would mean they needed someone on the inside in the first place to reach the dust capacitors.

"Sup Blake, I see you're still wearing that bow of yours." Sun said. Sun was a nice guy, pretty chill, him and Ruby were fast friends once they met. If Ruby was attracted to men instead of women, the two would have likely been dating!

"I like people to see me for who I am Sun, not what I am." Blake responded. Of course, this will lead into a long and dull conversation about her being ashamed of her faunashood or something, she's just waiting for someone, ANYONE to show up and derail the conversation.

"Fine fine, you do you. I'd just hope I'd get to see your ears more often." Sun said, this was obviously him flirting with Blake, sure he's nice, and all. But Blake wasn't interested in romance at the moment.

Ugh... we've had this conversation 3 times now!

"Sun. We're not having this conversation, especially not in public where Everyone can hear us!" Blake said.

"Sup Blake, hey, who's the cute guy you're talking with?" Yang said, where did she come from. And she's not wearing her glasses. Blake can see she still has them with her, just not wearing them at the moment.

Yang... well, bumping into the courtyard fences is funny at first, but after awhile, It gets sad.

"Did Weiss tell you to go out and talk more? If so, I believe your glasses should help." Blake responded.

"Glasses? What glasses? I don't wear glasses!" Yang said, facing the lamp post.

Really Yang? That card?

"I'm over here Yang, that's a Lamp post. Put your glasses on."

Yang turned toward Blake's voice.

"I'm waiting for Rubes to get my contacts, okay? she hasn't brought me them yet."

"Because she doesn't have them yet, she has to get them back on Thursday."

"Thursday? Greeaaat."

"Yang, put them on, I know you have them on you. Think about Ruby, do you think she'd want her sister bumping into objects and talking to lamp posts?"

Yang paused for a moment, and than put her glasses on. Relieved that she can see clearly, but a bit embarrassed about wearing them.

"Hey, I didn't know Ruby had a sister!" Sun said. Apparently, he just remembered he was there instead of continuing to stand there like an imamate object.

Dangit Sun.

"Yes, she does. I'm Yang Xiao Long, her sister, and the 'Y' in Team RWBY. Normally I would be wearing contacts, but they broke when the blackout happened." Yang stated.

"I don't know why you don't like wearing them, I think you look kind of cute in them." Sun said, going on to flirt with the blonde brawler. Blake is relieved he's not flirting with her this time.

"I... I do?" Yang blushed, as if she was kind of embarrassed by that statement, that or the flirt landed on Yang.

"Yes, I've always had a thing for girls with specs. Ruby told me a lot about you."

"Like what?"

"That you've taken care of her since her mother died when she was only 2 years old." Sun started.
"Taught her social skills, helped with her homework, all that motherly big sis talk."
"She also told me you've managed to take on an entire bar filled with criminals on your own, that's pretty badass."

Yang Blushed some more when he said that.

"She also told me about the time you tried to learn to cook and set the fridge on fire."

"She isn't allowed in the dorm kitchen without supervision from me or Ruby." Blake commented.

"Shut up Blake!" Yang replied to the comment, red eyes and all.

"I'd figure the two of us could spend some time together, what do you say?" Sun offered to Yang.

"I-I-I'd love to." Yang accepted, her eyes going back to Illiac.

Awwwwww...

"Who knew that the 'Golden Dragon' would be soft and mushy just by a pair of glasses?" Blake said rhetorically.

Yang's eyes turned red again from hearing that. Apparently she hasn't lost her rough edge.

"What? This scene is interesting to me, you two look like you're in the sixth chapter of a long romance novel."

"Of course you'd know what romance cliché's are like." Yang responded.

Sun and Yang head off to the Bullhead, only to be blocked off by a police officer.

"Sir, Ma'am, you two aren't authorized to leave Beacon, you two are currently under suspicion for causing the Beacon Blackout!" the officer said.

"What? I was at the gym when tha-" Yang was interrupted.

"Save it for the detective, my job is making sure no one enters or leaves the academy."

Blake was angered by this, apparently this potential blooming couple can only go on a date in Beacon's cafeteria. Sure, she understands the means for the investigation, but knowing the law enforcement in Vale, Team JNPR would do a far better job capturing the crook, heck, Jaune by himself would be better at it.

Well, I'll need to find a way to deal with him for Ruby's sake. Having someone blocking your way out of and into Beacon is an obstacle. Even than, all the Bullheads AP are disabled. I guess I'll just let Ruby bite me, I did offer to be her personal blood doll, after all.

Author's Footnote: AND now you see why the Blake Tag is on there now! I write her horribly, yet again, I've spent 5 chapters revolving around Ruby, and I can't exactly use her right now since she's sleeping, So I flipped a coin. Heads is Blake, Tails is Jaune. It landed on heads so you get the Blake perspective! Jaune might have been easier to write, but would have been more boring to be honest. So, I apologize again for making you read this! See you next chapter!
