Chapter Title: Harper's Habit

Chapter Summary: A place to put a collection of poetry pieces, too short to get their own chapters like Ballad of Mourning. Might be a reoccurring piece, might not. We'll see how the mood takes me.

Title: Drum Report

Summary: Harpers make do.

Prompt: Tool

Drummer, report

Quick words

On the heights

Of dragon flights

Which the Bronze

That sires Blues?

Which the Bronze

And Queen that flew?

Title: And Menolly, Spiderclaws Too

Summary: Safe - secure container of precious things

Prompt: Safe

An acrostic poem, written for the fan_flashworks prompt safe. I figured it fit in here, with the rest of the harper scraps, rather than a blink and you'll miss it standalone chapter.

Safe in her cave and

Air filled with Thread Menolly

Feeds firelizards spiderclaws

Earns their love too

Title: Dragons Must Fly

Summary: A varient on the theme I noted a chapter or two back.

Prompt: fire + comet

The middle rhyme, as you will notice, is the title of another entry in this collection. It got stuck in my head.

Can be read as circa Morea's Ride, but it works with whichever Fall you prefer.

Firestone flies

And dragons ride fall

Quicker through the turns

Pern's holds call

Dragons must fly

Or Pern will die

Writhing grey, threadscore burns

Till no life is left at all

Under untended skies

Title: Gone Away

Summary: Ramoth's egg is gone. Taken.

Prompt: egg

I'd forgotten until rcently hoe fun acrostics are. That said, I don't think this has quite enough rhythm to count as a Harper work, but it is once again too short to go on its own.

Every inch of the cavern searched, but heated sands reveals only

Glaring absence of sand, gleaming egg

Gone, though the clutch rests untouched

Even the greens hold their calls

Greens, as vocal as fire lizards are as silent as

Gold in grief and queens in mourning
