Author's Headnote: Night time again, which means Ruby will no longer have her aura burned out when being outside! I tried searching up fanfics for the name of that ship name I don't know, I can't believe the Yang/Sun Pairing is that rare (yet again, they rarely share screen time in canon so...), ya. Now as for our little fledgling, we'll be seeing what she'll be up to this chapter. Now just sit down, relax, and enjoy the chapter.

End of Main character status report
Beacon Academy, 8:04 PM, Tuesday, Launching Cliff.
The launching cliff, where Jaune almost died from his overconfidence. It is here where Beacon students begin there first year, although Ruby and Blake are not here for it's intended purpose. Instead of being launched into a forest with more cameras than a movie studio, the fledgling plans on climbing downwards to the ground.
"Ruby, do you have any Idea how you killed those people last night?" Blake asked out of serious concern.
"From the looks of the photos, it appears I've mauled them with my bare hands. But my nails aren't that sharp!" Ruby responded, taking out her left hand and flicked it, only for it to end up taking a more... literal grimm look. The hand is wider, covered in black and white grimm. The ends of the fingers contain sharp claws, as if it belonged to a hybrid of a beowulf and an apathy. Blake on the other hand was intrigued seeing this.
GAH! HOW DID I DO THAT!? WHY DID I DO THAT!?
Ruby, all in Vain is in an attempt to shake off the grimm from her hand.
"GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!" Ruby keeps screaming!
Blake grabbed a hold of Ruby, in an attempt to calm her down.
"Quiet down Ruby, you want to draw attention and have people see your hand like this!?" Blake quietly yelled.
"Ohh... sorry. I was too distracted at the fact that I have a literal grimm hand!" Ruby said while shaking her grasper, clenching it into a fist. Ruby than unclenched it as she realized the tips of those claws are sharp and that she stabbed herself four times! Thankfully, it didn't damage her aura since it's grimm.
"At least that explains the mauling. You had your hands turn into grimm when you went crazy."
"I didn't even know how I did that! I want to undo it. I can't walk around in public with a grimm hand, people will think I'm possessed!"
Ruby flicked her left hand again, the claw compressing back into a more human shape. Her hand returned to it's normal form.
"So... it's motion based?" Blake asked.
"I guess? I wonder if I can do the same with my right hand." Ruby responded.
And before Ruby even thought about moving her right hand, it expanded into a grimm shape, similar in pattern to the one her left hand was.
"Ruby, your hand." Blake stated.
Ruby lifted up her left hand. "What about it?" Ruby asked obliviously.
"Your other hand."
"What about it- OH STRAWBERRY FLAVORED ICE CREAM I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I DID THAT!" Ruby quietly screamed.
The fledgling calmed down and thought about her hand being human... as soon as the thought comes in, her right hand compressed back into it's original form.
"How did you do that?" Blake asked curiously.
"I don't know, I just thought about my hand being normal and 'poof!' It's back to what it was." the scythe-wielder answered.
"Perhaps you have more powers you don't know about. Too bad you can't use any active ones; they may be useful given the circumstances."
"I don't need them anyway; Grimm claws aren't that impressive compared to Crescent Rose! And any new powers I'd end up discovering wouldn't be as cool as my semblance!"
"That's one way of thinking about it Ruby. You're quite optimistic given your circumstances."
"I wanted to be a hero like in those old fairy tales. I knew the real world wasn't like those and I know that there will be hurdles to overcome, but I didn't expect being a vampire being one of them!"
"I wouldn't either."
"I didn't even know vampires were real until yesterday. I only learned I was one when I went and looked at my reflection at the mirror back at the catacombs."
"Huh, vampires have reflections. You learn something new everyday."
"Or every night in my case." Ruby awkwardly laughed.
"You plan on liberating those people and stomping out those vampires in the catacombs anytime soon?" Blake asked out of curiosity.
"I'd like to, but I'd basically need a team for that. And I don't want to potentially lose my friends for goods, there's stopping a conspiracy to take out Beacon, then there's stomping out a nest of vampires. They'd likely enthrall or turn you and have you attack me!"
"So, you're doing nothing?"
"No, I'm not doing nothing, I'm getting stronger. I can't just charge in there unprepared, those guys likely have centuries more experience than all of us!"
Blake sighed. Ruby can feel anger, fear, worry, sadness, and doubt.
Ruby grabbed onto Blake and hugged her, comforting the cat faunas and consoling her emotions.
"It's okay Blake, I don't want anything bad to happen either. If something really bad were to happen to you, I wouldn't know what to do. You're my friend Blake, my teammate, my..." Ruby couldn't find the word she was looking for, she would be sobbing if it weren't for her vampirism. What? Vampires don't cry blood, that's just ridiculous.
"I don't want to lose you either Ruby, I'm just worried that those vampires that took you would take you back and brainwash you. That'd they'd get a hold of you and... and..." Blake didn't finish her sentence. Her negative emotions are spiking and dwindling as the hugging goes on.
"I won't become like them. I wouldn't have come back to Beacon if it were otherwise."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
The two stopped hugging and smiled, Ruby could feel the negative emotions from Blake dissipate, except doubt. Ruby's actions had to speak for that, not her words.
"Now as for why we're sneaking out of Beacon, we're looking for supplies for the operation Sunday night, before the second semester starts." Blake briefed Ruby.
"Right, now what are we looking for?" Ruby asked.
"Well, for us we'll be looking for 2 White Fang uniforms our size. For Jaune and Nora, he says he'll need 50,000 Lien."
"50,000 Lien? That's 10,000 more than the price of that bizarrely shaped ping-pong table!"
"The one from that weird store somewhere in midtown?"
"Yes, that one!"
"That place has some weird stuff."
"That it does."
"Now to get back on topic, Ren will need a small hard drive. He can't use his scroll because that would raise suspicion."
"Oh ya... breaking into the CCT is illegal. But it's for a good cause..." Ruby laughed awkwardly...
"I'm not happy about that either Ruby, but we don't have a lot of options." Blake said in a much more serious tone.
"Well, let's not waste anymore time Blake, the night is young. This is the only time of day where being outside doesn't drain my aura! I have a lot of pent up energy!" Ruby snapped impatiently.
"Very well Ruby, go ahead." Blake said.
Ruby grabbed Crescent Rose and put it in sniper rifle form and jumped down. Before reaching the ground, she fired a bullet into the ground, the recoil slowing her fall. Blake soon followed, jumping down and using her semblance to make a shadow clone to take the fall while she jumps back and lands safely on her toes. Ruby folded her scyfle back and put it away. The two than sneak out of the Emerald Forest outskirts into Vale's uptown.
City of Vale, 8:09 PM, Tuesday, Uptown
Uptown, the nicest and most luxurious part of all of vale: home to various luxury apartments, hotels, nightclubs, and other high-brow venues. It is also home to the Valean royal palace. Sure, Vale's royalty holds no real political power anymore and are merely ceremonial, but they are loved and respected by the citizens of Vale (even outside the capital). Marianne II, the queen of Vale is 94 years old. Her heir, prince Calixto being 73 with 3 kids of his own. Because of this, the police tend to patrol uptown at night to keep criminals from coming here, and to protect the queen and her family from assassins. Ruby and Blake are the former unfortunately. And this is troublesome for both of them since they'd have to sneak there way out and in here. They'd get arrested when caught, although worst case scenario they'd be put on probation and confined to school grounds with the exception being supervised missions.
Blake takes the lead on the stealth, since she's better at sneaking around the Ruby. Ruby could learn a thing or two about stealth from hanging around Blake, she'd likely need it in the future... wait, why would she sneak around at night? Ruby's a good girl, she wouldn't do something so rebellious like this... oh wait, that's what she's literally doing right now. The fledgling scythe wielder lost her train of thought for a moment. Ruby rushed to catch up with Blake after that bizarre moment of distraction. It was hard for Ruby to sneak around this time due to her change in attire. Blake mostly wears black with some white around it. Ruby typically wears a black combat dress with red details, but currently she's wearing a red combat dress with black details (although the cloak is unchanged of course), much more noticeable.
The security patterns were analyzed and Blake took full advantage of it, Ruby was following Blake quietly without alerting any of the guard. Although, there were a few close calls. Sneaking on ground level is a pretty bad idea in hindsight. They'd end up getting caught with so many police patrolling uptown for some reason. Most criminals hang around downtown and the industrial district, what are they doing here?
Ruby and Blake sneak up behind one of the few alleyways in uptown Vale, relaxing themselves from the pressure of sneaking from the police. They were trespassing, but backwards. Ruby doesn't know what it would be called of course. They both sighed in relief since they are in a location where the police won't be for some reason.
"Phew, I thought I'd get caught, a few seconds off and we'd be done for." Ruby whispered in relief.
"Believe me, neither of us want to get caught right now." Blake whispered in response.
"We can't just sneak from the ground. We'd get caught eventually, what are we going to do?"
"It's our best option since climbing buildings would leave evidence of our presence!"
"Oh ya, fingerprints and such. I know that you would leave fingerprints, but I'm not so sure for myself because of my... condition."
"Let's just focus on sneaking out of uptown for now. We can go back to Beacon by sneaking around, just to avoid sneaking our required items along with ourselves out of uptown."
"Right."
The two ceased their discussion, and resumed the task of sneaking. Albeit it was stressful to avoid getting caught, but now they learn not to sneak directly to uptown next time they pull this stunt. And than they realized the entire security patrol was sleeping, Ruby and Blake now feel dumb for not realizing that earlier. Although It would explain why they haven't been caught yet. They still walk quietly so they don't wake up security, in a manner that they'd leave uptown. Sure, uptown had a lot of money, but more people would have noticed it missing, and even than stealing is wrong! The two head out to downtown to snoop out any straggling White Fang mooks, and of course take their clothes.
City of Vale, 8:25 PM, Tuesday, Downtown
Downtown does not bring a lot of recent pleasant memories for Ruby, since this is where not only, she was turned, but also had her first 'feral blackout' according to the Vampirica Encyclopedia. She'll also have to come back here for Yang's contact lenses around the same time on Thursday. But Ruby needs to concentrate and use her negativity senses for any White Fang around here. They tend to produce a lot of negativity, yet they don't attract grimm, Ruby's curious to why that's the case. Blake explained after the first semester ended that the White Fang used to be a peaceful organization that seeks equal rights through non-violent means. But after the previous leader stepped down, they've gotten more violent. She also believes the branch in Vale has gone rogue from the other 4 branches of the organization.
Ruby picks up a strong sense of negativity, to a degree it's making it harder for her to think clearly. It must be from someone in the White Fang. Ruby than seeks for the source of the negativity in hopes of finding who it is. She runs, but doesn't use her semblance because it would raise some red herrings for the investigation the police are on. The source of negativity is inside an abandoned building, likely where the White Fang are planning to establish another hideout. By the time Ruby showed up, she texted Blake her location. She waited a couple minutes before Blake finally caught up to Ruby.
"The source of the negativity is just in that building." Ruby stated quietly.
"Are you sure? It doesn't look like anybody's been there." Blake whispered.
"Just take my word for it Blake, I'm not gonna try and turn you just to prove a point."
"Hey, I'm just making sure, senses can be deceiving sometimes."
"Whatever, let's just get inside."
Ruby takes the lead and attempts top open the door... only for it to be locked. Ruby wasn't surprised that it would be locked. The building is abandoned (or merely appearing to be so according to Ruby's negativity senses). Ruby can sense annoyance from Blake after that. Ruby out of desperation uses the same strategy she uses to break out of her cell back at the catacombs. She shakes the knob of the door, twisting it, at an incredibly fast speed. She goes on doing this for 1 minute before finally...
CRACK!
The lock on the door breaks open, allowing free entry to the building. Lockpicking? Who needs that? Ruby has whatever she did there. She wasn't even sure if it was strength or speed that made her do that, since she didn't activate her semblance when doing so. She pulls the door open, allowing Blake to see she unlocked it.
"How did you... you know what? I'm not going to question it." Blake stated in confusion.
"It's okay, I don't know how I did it either, it's actually how I escaped the vampires back in the catacombs actually." Ruby said.
"Let's just head inside and knock out those mooks."
"That's the plan."
The duo walked into the building; it was dark but both of them had night vision so they can clearly see everything. There was in fact, evidence of White Fang activity in the building. But something was off to her, why would the first floor be unguarded? Unless... she sees grenades being slid onto the floor, likely going to be knockout of explosive grenades, either way Ruby runs the heck out of there, Blake soon followed. This is real life; she's not going to wait until the grenade to detonate to escape. She hears the grenades being detonated inside the building, from the sounds of the after-effect, it was knockout gas. Blake would have been KOed if she ended up there. Ruby decides to enter the building, and at the same time, stopped breathing.
Ruby enters the building while the smoke is still in the air, she could see through it, but they weren't planning on taking her down while she was awake now, would they? The smoke cleared up, revealing ten White Fang mooks, although one of them is larger. Ruby unfolds Crescent Rose into her Scythe form, preparing for a fight.
The nine normal sized mooks all open fire on Ruby, she knew they'd all attack at once since mooks don't have chivalry in the real world. She jumped barely in time to dodge some of the attacks, albeit some bullets managed to scrape her aura. She than uses her semblance to blitz at one of the mooks, pouncing them and knocking them out. The mooks continuing the fire, constantly damaging Ruby's aura, the beep in her scroll states it's dropped under 75%.
Gotta take them out quickly I'd have to... kill... NO! I am not a murderer!
With her aura below the green zone, she's finding it harder to think straight. She'd have to feed off one of the mooks to get her aura back up, Blake won't mind if she feeds off of someone else. She fires Crescent Rose back with a standard bullet, using the recoil to launch herself at the herd of mooks, taking 3 of them out with one physics powered swing! She looks behind and sees that she shot one of them 2 inches right of the heart, no fatal injuries. 5 incapacitated mooks, 4 active ones all firing at Ruby at once. Her aura is taking a lot of hits from her standing still, now it's below 60.
Just 4 more mooks and I can... blood. Blood for bloo-NONONO! I will not lose control to some grimm inside of me!
Her aura's approaching 50%, And as her aura is getting lower, the more her thoughts are being clouded. She rushes at the remaining firing mooks and starts to slash them with her scythe, of course they are firing at her when they do. She manages to incapacitate 1 of them in a single hit, but the remaining 3 are still putting up a fight. Looks like the White Fang is actually using some of their more higher-up mooks for whatever task is needed here. And before she could reach them, they knocked out Crescent Rose out of her hand and across the room. Her sweetheart across the room and aura nearing 50% is not a good place for her to be in, in normal scenario's she'd be screwed like a lightbulb. But than Ruby has an idea. She grabs a mook and uses her semblance to ram them across the room, knocking them out. She does this for the remaining armed mooks, knocking them out. All that leaves is the big guy, he's large, muscular, and wields a giant chainsaw.
Oh shoot, forgot about him! Wait, what the heck is Blake doing during all of this?
No doubt her improvised tactics wouldn't work on him, he's too big. She checks the sense of negativity to see if there's more people, so far, it's just him. Everyone else is in the building's unconscious. As soon as he grabs wields his plans to strike with his chainsaw, she dodges it. The would-be scythe wielder than goes up and tackles him from behind using her semblance, knocking him unconscious. After all that fighting, Ruby resumed her breathing, albeit it's effect is superficial.
Ruby opened up her scroll to check her aura, it was at 51%. She panicked when she saw that number, 51%. It's stagnating at the yellow, she'd have to feed from one of the mooks. She'd ask Blake for some blood, but Ruby doesn't want to drain her dry. She looks at the mook she shot, with a dry feeling on her tongue. The fledgling thought about the consequences of what would happen if she drank from any of these mooks, sure less thugs to deal with later, but they are still people. These criminals likely have family who cares about them, or don't. Ruby removed the glove from the mook, and lifted up their sleeve, exposing their sleeve. Ruby than took a bite down on the wrist and began to drain blood from them. After a brief period, she lifted her fangs from the thug's wrist, and put their glove back on, making it look like nothing happened.
Ruby went back outside, only to see Blake sleeping. Faunas may have night vision, but their internal clocks aren't typically nocturnal after all. Blake was no exception, although to give her credit, she was up since 5:30 AM, so she likely was a bit more tired than typical. Ruby decides to let the faunas sleep for now and goes back to remove the clothing from some of the female White Fang mooks, since chances are their uniforms would be Blake and Ruby's sizes. Ten minutes of clothing removal of pants, shirts, hoods, masks, and armor took place. Ruby now has 2 sets of White Fang uniforms, albeit from 4 different people. Ruby carrying 2 sets of clothes than proceeds to try and wake up the cat faunas.
"Psst. Hey, Blake. Wake up. I have the articles of clothing we need." Ruby said slightly loudly to wake up Blake.
"Errr... Ruby? Go back to bed, I'm trying to sleep." Blake said, not knowing about her surroundings.
"Blake, you're outside, sleeping on the grass. And you know why I'm not asleep at night!"
"I do? Oh, I do. How long was I asleep?"
"I don't know, but I took care of the mooks, and took some of their clothes. I've also gotten myself a snack from one of them."
"Did you kill any of them?"
"Nope, at least I hope not."
"Well it's good to see you didn't blackout while I was asleep. Let's get these back to Beaco-"
"WAIT! I FORGOT SOMETHING!" Ruby yelled, rushing back inside to grab her sweetheart, Crescent Rose. Oh, the thought of abandoning her in this place would just give Ruby daymares on end. The scythe wielder folds crescent rose and places her back where she belongs, with Ruby. Not on the cold, ground floor. Although the lockers would still be applicable. The fledgling is relieved that her scythe is back with her, now she goes back outside and picks the clothes back up. She also picked up and disposed of the wilted rose petals left behind in the commotion.
"You got what you need Ruby?" Blake asked Ruby.
"Yep, I wouldn't want to abandon Crescent Rose. The thought of it would give me daymares." Ruby responded back.
"Daymares?"
"Y'know? Nightmares, except during the daytime."
Blake just giggled.
"What's so funny?" Ruby asked.
"I just remembered that you and Yang are related." Blake replied.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, nothing."
Ruby and Blake continue to walk the streets of downtown and decide to take a shortcut to Beacon through Old Town.
City of Vale, 8:44 PM, Tuesday, Old Vale
Old Town, where the Vale Catacombs (and thus, the vampire lair) resided. Cars never go through here because the roads were made before automobiles were invented and Old Town's architecture is preserved to help Vale maintain it's pre-war history. So, it's safe to walk on the roads. Much of the architecture resembles the older buildings found in Patch, some of the buildings were even older. One of the more notable pieces of history here is Castle Autumn, the original capital building for the city. Many of the buildings rely on older technology for lighting and plumbing, since modern plumbing devices never reached Old Town, and modern dust powered electricity never reached Old Town either. If the entire city had a blackout or a plumbing malfunction, Old Town would be unaffected because of this.
Being obsolete through the ages obviously has drawbacks though. Almost none of buildings have glassed windows, and are just holes in the wall, so rain could get in (or much worse in Ruby's case). Another drawback would be maintenance, since Old Town's infrastructure is made of older materials, it's harder to keep up maintenance in this part of Vale.
Ruby and Blake continue to walk down on Old Town when they were stopped by two thugs. Both of them are human, their eyes are dilated as if they were influenced by external injections, and are armed with revolvers with knives taped onto them. Clearly these two were amateurs, but since Ruby's hands are full of Sunday night's laundry, she kicked one in the shin, then the other and then went about her night. The muggers both were on the ground, unconscious.
I have no time to deal with petty muggers. I am holding a White Fang uniform from various mooks and I'm carrying it to Beacon for goodness sake!
After that run in with the two muggers, the two huntresses continue their walk into Old Town.
"That was anticlimactic." Ruby said.
"You're the one who kicked their shins." Blake stated.
"I didn't expect them to be knocked out in one hit."
"Neither did I, actually."
"Let's just get these back to our dorms. Weiss and Yang are likely worried about us."
"Or sleeping."
"Ya, that too. Say, why were you asleep?"
"I'm not sure, some of the gas must have gotten outside and I passed out."
"I didn't expect an ambush either. Those guys reduced my aura to 51%!"
"What is it now?"
Ruby checked her scroll. "72%."
"We'll refill your aura when you wake up in the evening, if Weiss doesn't change your alarm again." Blake said.
"So that's why I woke up at 1 PM."
"Let's just get these back to Beacon, we'll obviously need to hide these until Sunday. It'd raise suspicion to why two Beacon students have White Fang uniforms, even more so since people will likely have me take off my bow and you your bandanna."
"Obviously we're going to get rid of them after this, right?"
"Right, no need to carry a dark part of my past with me."
City of Vale, 9:00 PM, Tuesday, Uptown
Ruby and Blake are back at uptown, sneaking around here will be a lot harder now that they have clothes to carry along with Ruby and Blake's only large size. It appears all the patrols have left, which is a sigh of relief for Ruby and Blake, but at the same time, curious. Why would they leave uptown in the first place? This is part of Vale that's closest to Beacon Academy, so whatever has caught their attention, it must be something critical.
Using this time of insecurity to their advantage, Ruby and Blake rush towards the opening in the Vale wall. For some reason of all places there's an opening to sneak in and out of Vale, it's in uptown. Although Ruby almost dropped pieces of the White Fang uniforms, she managed to get it to the opening. Blake did too, don't worry about her.
"Wonder why the cops left uptown." Ruby said.
"I'll find out on the morning news and inform you after you wake up and take care of your essentials." Blake stated.
"That sounds like a plan, it's better than being kept out of the loop."
The two eventually just take a casual walk back to the bottom of the launching cliff site, where they'd get themselves up. Ruby was relieved that she wouldn't have to carry a load of clothing for very long.
Beacon Academy, 9:04 PM, Tuesday, Launching Cliff
At the bottom of the launching cliff, typically one would not drop down from the launching cliff and into Vale. most would take a bullhead to go to the Emerald Forest or Vale. Even than, and there is a pathway back to campus grounds from the cliff, but that pathway is guarded by grimm. So, the two had very limited options.
"So... how are we going to get back up?" Ruby asked.
"I did say we could climb up using weapons, but it appears our hands are full." Blake said, looking at Ruby's hands.
"Why are you looking at my hands like- NO! NONONO! I am NOT using the claws to get us up there. Besides, my hands are full too Blake."
"do you have any better options Ruby?"
"We could wear some of the articles of clothing as we climb up, then take them off after we get back up from the top of the cliff."
"What if anyone sees us?"
"Same could be said about the claws."
"Fair point. We'll go with your plan Ruby." Blake said in defeat, Ruby senses Blake's embarrassment.
"Hey, it's okay Blake. We all have those moments." Ruby said to console her.
"I suppose that's true." Blake responded.
The huntresses put on the uniforms haphazardly. The armor and some of the over-clothing are being worn by both of them. With Ruby wearing the armor, hood, and shirt, along with pants on top of the hood, making her look silly. Blake wore only the hood and shirt, along with only wearing the armor loosely. Neither wore the mask because that'd be inappropriate for the context. So, Ruby's only carrying the mask, and Blake's carrying the mask and pants.
"good, now let's get climbing." Ruby said enthusiastically.
Ruby unfolded Crescent Rose and jumped in the air, followed by a fire from her scythe, increasing her airtime. With practice comes perfection, and she knows how to perfect a pseudo double-jump using her weapon. Ruby of course landed on the top of the cliff. Ruby than folded Crescent Rose back into her box shape and put her away. Blake on the other hand, Ruby hears her using the ribbon of Gambrol Shroud and contracting it, using it as a grappling hook. It's a pretty clever tactic. Blake gets to the top of the cliff, albeit with no stress at all.
Both girls are removing the White Fang outfits from themselves afterwards. The white fang uniforms now removed from the bodies of the girls (although they are still wearing their normal clothes).
The two sighed in relief... and are walking back to their dorm carrying the White Fang uniforms.
Beacon Academy, 9:09 PM, Tuesday, RWBY Dormitory
Ruby and Blake show up at the dorm, although they quietly closed the door and kept any lights off. RWBY and JNPR's dorms were extra-ordinarily larger than other dorms, hence why they are the only ones with living rooms. Guess there is such a thing as favorite students after all. The two hide the Uniforms inside the empty cabinet that was there for some reason. The two sighed in relief as everything is going smoothly. All that they have to do is relax aaand...
"There you are! Where have you two been?" Yang's voice can be heard as she enters the room.
Author's Footnote: This is likely not the best of my chapters, but hey, it's done. Sorry it took so long; real life stuff and distractions get in the way. I've also watched that new DeathBattle on Monday, and I've been listening to the OST while writing this and doing my tasks. Anyways, you're not here to read me complain about my life's story. You're here about this Ruby's story, so no more excuses on my end. If you have any questions, comments, criticism, suggestions, etc. leave them in the reviews. Until than, enjoy that little Cliffhanger I left ya.
