The Return to Phantomile

~ VISION 1-3: An old friend ~

Halfway across the grassy plains of Phantomile on their way straight to Jugpot, the stars finally began to settle in across the night sky. Kio stopped running out of how tired he was.

Kio: S-stop... Stop!

Klonoa then stopped himself and looks back at Kio as he was heavily panting, he seemed a bit confused.

Klonoa: Huh? But... I'm not tired at all yet. We could make it to Jugpot in one go.

Kio: H...How about we just call it a day for now? Today's been a bit more rough than expected...

Klonoa: Well, okay. But.. Right here? What do we do then? Sleep against a tree?

Kio, despite still being a bit tired, confidently points back at himself.

Kio: Heehee, I said that I came prepared when it comes down to a journey!

Kio put down his giant backpack, opened it up and pulled out two foldable matresses with bed sheets, as he started to put them down comfortably.

Klonoa: Whoa... so that's what you meant with supplies? That makes things a lot more easier then.

Kio then looks back at Klonoa as he was still preparing the two beds.

Kio: Gather me a pile of wooden sticks, will you? I'll prepare the beds as good as I can.

Klonoa: Hm? Wooden sticks? What for?

Kio: Can't have a camp without a fire. There should be some by a tree around here.

Klonoa: Okay.

Klonoa then walks away from Kio to find a tree and spots a lone one in the distance. Klonoa noticed a couple just scattered around, and started to pick them up one by one while kneeling down for them all.

Klonoa: I hope these will be enough...

As Klonoa picked up the last of the bunch scattered around the tree, he got back up, and walked back towards Kio with the beds as he was dusting the pillows.

Klonoa: Do you think this is enough?

Klonoa then held out the pile in the front of Kio so he could inspect them. Kio stopped the dusting of the pillows and began to count for a bit up close... Eventually he stopped nodded his head and got back up, moving the beds more apart from each other.

Kio: Mm, more than enough. Just drop them here.

Kio then pointed in the direct center between the beds. Klonoa kneeled down and carefully put the pile of sticks on the ground, as Kio properly made teepee layout with the sticks, and dusted his hands off.

Klonoa: So... what now?

Kio smirked a bit after hearing Klonoa ask that.

Kio: Let's make a source of fire from nothing but wood...

Kio then grabbed a box of matches from his backpack, picked up one match and lit it... Then he carefully dropped the lit match into the pile of sticks from above. The pile of sticks became a campfire.

Klonoa: Whoa!

Kio: And that... is how you set up a camp.

Klonoa: Oooohhh... interesting. You are great at this!

Kio: O-oh, just some survival tricks my dad learnt me... Just like playing the flute.

Klonoa: You play music?

Klonoa began to sit down at his own mattress, looking back at Kio from there.

Klonoa: Now i'm curious to hear it. I've always enjoyed enjoyed hearing something from others.

Kio then grabbed a silver flute out of his bag next to his own mattress, and began to sit on it with the flute in his hand.

Kio: Well... this song was stuck in my head since my childhood. I think I must've heard this melody from somewhere, but i'm not sure.

Klonoa: That's fine. As long as you can play well.

Kio: Okay... Here goes...

Kio took a deep breath, and began to play a melody... It sounded really familiar, as it began to echo throughout the plains. The first few "La la la la la"s ran through Klonoa's head, as he knew it sounded like something he heard of once before... He then gains a brief flash of the past...

The young Klonoa was standing alone on a cliff in a dead-looking Phantomile, as a portal suddenly appeared behind him... while a diva was singing the exact same melody. The young Klonoa turned around, as he slowly started to slide towards the portal.

Young Klonoa: But... I don't want to! I don't want to! !

Klonoa then suddenly snapped back to it... as Kio was finishing up the melody. Klonoa seemed a bit sad now.

Klonoa: I... I think i remember where that song came from.

Kio put away the flute, and seemed a bit confused.

Kio: Hm? You do?

Klonoa: That is the Song of Rebirth from Lephise... A diva who lives in the Kingdom of Cress, way above the land. The song was what sent me away from here.

Kio: Whoa... wait, Cress actually exists?

Klonoa decides to lean back a bit, as he tries to think it through a bit more.

Klonoa: Yeah... But... who was it that I was actually talking to...? Was I really talking to myself that day...? It couldn't be... That just wouldn't make any sense...

But as he was brainstorming, a few dark portals suddenly appeared around them... As through the dark, Kio noticed there were three iron armored foes with blue ears sticking out, two unarmored foes with red ears, and tiny claws, as they unarmored foes wielded spears and the armored ones wielded shields. Kio immediately started to shiver.

Kio: M...M-m-m-m-m-m-

One of the unarmored red foes began to yell at Kio.

Red Foe: Moo!

Kio: MONSTERS ! ! ! !

Klonoa: What?! They followed me? ! ?

Klonoa immediately got up out of defense, thinking they were the Nighty-Knights. But as he saw the foes, he seemed relieved and wiped the sweat off of his head.

Klonoa: Oh thank goodness, they're just Moo's...

Kio: WHAT DO YOU MEAN JUST MOO'S?! Those are the same kind of monsters that trapped me into a bubble all those years ago ! !

Klonoa: No worries, no worries... I won't let you get harmed by such foes as this!

Klonoa grabbed the Wind Ring attached to his belt, and aims his Wind Ring right at one of the regular Moo's.

Klonoa: WIND BULLET! !

Klonoa tried to fire the ring out of instinct... but nothing happened, at all.

Klonoa: Again?!

Then the Moo tried to stab Klonoa with the spear, but he dodged by rolling to the side.

Kio: What happened? And what do you mean 'again'? ! ?

Klonoa: I keep forgetting the Wind Ring has to be powered by spiritual energy to work... Nrgh, i should've thought this one more through!

Kio: Oh no... we're gonna die here, aren't we?

Klonoa: Okay, i got it! Kio... just focus for a moment. You have to help me out if you want to live through this. Try to disarm one of the Moo's spears while i'm distracting the rest of the horde!

Kio: I can't believe this... Grrr, fine! Let's do it!

Klonoa began to pull the attention of one Moo with a spear, and the three armored Moo's by spinning his head around to taunt them. They seemed a bit mad, and began to give chase to Klonoa specifically. Meanwhile, Kio then quickly runs up to the Moo with the spear and tries to rip out the spear from the hands of the Moo. The two were really struggling, with Kio almost losing the upper hand... as the tip of the spear swiftly cut his cheek a bit, causing blood to drop from the cut. But Kio then uses all his remaining strength to push back, and then rips it right out of the hands from the Moo.

Klonoa: Now, attack him!

Kio: Attack him?! B-but...

Klonoa: Don't let their appearance fool you. They're still nightmare creatures!

Kio: B-but... They look so innocent... I can't just stab them...!

Klonoa: Remember how they captured you all those years ago?! They came to us! We're defending ourselves! !

Kio then firmly grasped his spear, and pulled back with no remorse as he turned furious.

Kio: G...Grrr... Alright, alright, ALRIGHT! DIE YOU FOUL NIGHTMARE! !

He then stabs right through the Moo... Killing it. He then tried to catch up with his own breath from what just happened, panting a bit...

Kio: I finally did it... wow...

As Klonoa stared while Kio pulled the spear out of the Moo, he noticed something though...

Klonoa: Hmmm... Why didn't the Moo pop though...?

Then an Armored Moo tried to bash Klonoa with the shield in his hand, to which Klonoa immediately jumped back and began to dodge their attacks.

Klonoa: Whoa!

As Kio slowly grasped his spear, Klonoa noticed the other moo with the spear trying to attack Kio from the back... He immediately yelled towards him.

Klonoa: KIO! BEHIND YOU! ! !

Kio then quickly turned around and slided across the grass with a bit of a furious look on his face, as he dodged the stabbing of the Moo with the spear. Kio then attempts to immediately stab him right back, as the Moo attempted to block out the attack of the spear with his own spear, but being too late... The spear goes right through the Moo, as it pops in a small explosion. Klonoa seems happy.

Klonoa: Wahoo! You're doing great, Kio! Let's keep this up!

Klonoa then quickly began to run to where Kio was, and grabbed the other spear that the Moo just dropped. They readied their spears and began to stand right next to each other.

Kio: This may get rough against armored foes like that... Did you ever use a spear as a weapon?

Klonoa: Well... no. But i've got my skills for aiming.

Kio: I've never really used a weapon either... So this is all frightening to me...

Klonoa: We'll have to give it our all either way. It's the only way to survive. Don't worry about hurting yourself, we just have to beat their armor!

Kio: Might as well call it a suicide charge with a dangerous situation like this... This will be the end for both of us... Their armor is way too strong...

Klonoa: ...

The three Armored Moo's started to jump at Klonoa and Kio from above, ready to attack them... Klonoa with all his strength, attempts to throw the spear right through one of the Armored Moo's, as Kio just tried to hold the spear as far as he could while yelling, hoping it would stab through the armor.

Kio: Dad! Help me! I don't wanna die here! !

Klonoa: Magya...!

And just before any side attacked the other... A blue boy with a black cape and a bit of dark-brown hair appeared from the side and slashed through the Armored Moo's with a green energy rapier created by himself in the middle of the air.

Blue Boy: KLONOA! ! ! !

The armor broke from the Armored Moo's as the blue boy dropped to the ground along with his cape, just as the three Moo's did... then all the three Moo's fell over and popped out of existence. The blue boy tried to catch up with his own breath.

Kio: Huh...? How does he know who you are?

Klonoa then turned towards the blue boy as he was slowly getting up... Klonoa scratched his head a bit out of confusion.

Klonoa: Wait... who are... ...!

The blue boy slowly turned towards Klonoa, and within an instant of seeing his face, Klonoa gains a barrage of quick flashes, until it stopped at one final and long one which goes through his mind...

The young Klonoa was sitting on a cliff in Breezegale with the blue boy, who was also younger. The young Klonoa looks at him.

Young Klonoa: How are your wounds, Huepow?

Young Huepow: Oh...

Young Klonoa: You should take it easy. Besides, there's no more Nahatomb to worry about.

The young Klonoa then turned his head towards the young Huepow.

Young Klonoa: Huepow... Are you going back to the Moon Kingdom?

The young Huepow seemed quiet, and not leaving any response... so Klonoa turned quiet too. But eventually he smiled back up towards him.

Young Klonoa: ...But we can see each other soon, right?

The memories start to fade, as Klonoa snaps back to reality...

Klonoa's neutral look slowly disappeared as he dropped his spear. He seemed a bit bitter.

Klonoa: ...I know I forgot about something... Huepow...

Huepow then walked up a bit towards Klonoa, still trying to catch up with himself. He seemed rather astonished.

Huepow: I-I... It worked... you made it back here! !

Klonoa: Oh... so you were the one who called me back here?

Huepow: Yes... I tried to reach out towards you again so many times, but then i lately sensed something odd. I tried for years but it finally worked!

Klonoa: How did you even find us here...?

Huepow: I heard this familiar melody in the distance, and i figured something that something must've been there... I searched for you all over the land, running for hours just to find you!

Klonoa: ...I see how it is... so you need my help again just like last time?

Huepow: Hm?

Klonoa: It must've been fun living years in peace without having to worry about a thing, hasn't it? To return back to your family without a care in the world since that day?

Huepow: Wait, what are you imply-

Klonoa: Just why did you reach out to me again? For what purpose?

Huepow: Klonoa... I just couldn't leave you after what i had to confess to you back then...

Klonoa: Then why did you manipulate me into believing a lie?! Why did you lie about your true self? ! ?

Huepow seemed a bit worried as he turned his head away from Klonoa.

Huepow: W-well... Well, i just could not-

Klonoa: Why did you keep the truth of it all from me the whole time?! Why did you lie about being my friend?! WHY?!

Kio: G-guys...?

As Huepow heard this, he finally clenched his fist and turned his head back with a bit of anger.

Huepow: You don't understand! You don't know how much i wish i could've changed things!

Klonoa: Of course i don't! But how could you do this to anyone you would consider your 'friend'? ! ?

Huepow: I did not choose to do any of this... If we could've saved Phantomile by ourselves we wouldn't have called you in! !

Klonoa: But you all seemed fine without me! You could've just left me behind and have easily have done it yourself! You beat Nahatomb... You powered my ring... YOU DIDN'T NEED ME! AND JUST CALLED ME IN FOR NOTHING! ! !

Huepow within an instant, furiously drops his energy rapier and then frustratingly began to tackle Klonoa harshly onto the ground. As Huepow attempts to punch him right in the face while standing, Klonoa quickly rolls away and furiously kicks Huepow right in the stomach to down him, causing him to spit out a bit of blood.

Klonoa: JUST WHY? ! ?

Huepow: Hrrgh...!

Klonoa then gets back up immediately and starts to punch him the face once. Huepow however then blocks it and throws Klonoa with a slam to the ground face-down, breaking his nose and causing him to bleed from it. They both then slowly tried to get up... Klonoa goes in for a headbutt to immediately down Huepow to the ground and causing him to bleed from the head a bit.

Klonoa: Grrrr...! ! I trusted you...! I considered you a great friend...!

Huepow: Nrrgh...!

Klonoa then starts to harshly beat Huepow in the face with both hands, bruising his cheeks from both sides... As Klonoa slowly started to tear up and cry... Huepow then manages to block his punch... Tears rolled down Huepow's face as he seemed absolutely broken.

Huepow: You are right... You didn't need to be here. But... I was alone. You seemed alone. I'm incredibly sorry that i did all of this to you. I just wanted a real friend for once... You were one of the only friends I ever had and still have...

Klonoa: H...Huepow... I...

Klonoa then dropped his guard, as Huepow slowly gets back up and started to hug him while tears were still rolling down his face. Klonoa then tried to wipe away his own tears as he was still hugging him while looking sad.

Klonoa: I'm sorry i lashed out like that... You could've not saved me from my fate as a Dream Traveler...

Huepow: K-Klonoa... It's okay...

Klonoa: I know that feeling of being alone myself...

Huepow smiled up a bit as he hugged him tighter.

Huepow: Thank you... Thank you for forgiving me...

Klonoa, then slowly began to softly smile as well. Meanwhile Kio stared a bit in awe for a few seconds, as he then snapped back to it and prepared another air bed...

After a couple of minutes, Huepow pulled away his hand from Klonoa's nose, as it was properly set right. Huepow looks back at Klonoa while they were sitting in front of the firecamp, as did he.

Huepow: Sorry for those injuries back there, Klonoa... You would probably still feel a bit weird in your nose for the night, but it would heal overnight.

Klonoa: Y-yeah... Sorry for doing the same to you.

Huepow chuckled a tiny bit, as he showed his forehead's bump where the head wound used to be.

Huepow: Hehehe... You really did a number on me.

Klonoa and Huepow both laughed it off a bit, as they briefly sighed. Klonoa's stomach then growled a tiny bit, as he seemed confused.

Kio: So... anyone else hungry? I mean I definitely am!

Huepow: Now that you mention it... Running all over the plains for hours...

Klonoa: I mean... i feel kinda weak in my stomach, but...

Huepow: Wait a moment Klonoa, are you saying you never, ever felt hungry in your life?

Kio: To make it worse, he didn't even know what food was!

Huepow: He didn't?! I mean I know we journeyed throughout the plains together years ago, but you never actually had food before or since?!

Klonoa: Well... no.

Huepow: That is strange... really strange.

Kio: I know, right?!

Huepow: Kio, do you have some food with you?

Kio: ...I got some ingredients and extra boxes of food, but i was thinking on saving the boxes for the long haul... Maybe something rather quick to make wouldn't hurt... Such as apple and mushroom mix...?

Kio then looked around the plains hoping to see at least some mushrooms, but found nothing. Although he noticed the dead Moo was still lying there on the grass.

Kio: Hey, um... Have any of you ever tried to taste... one of those?

Kio then pointed at the Moo, as Klonoa and Huepow look at it.

Huepow: That nightmare monster didn't pop and disappear...? But how?

Klonoa: Hmm... why didn't the Moo pop? That's a bit strange, but... I guess I am curious?

Huepow: You'd actually think of eating one?!

Kio: Well, don't you? I was thinking it would taste just like regular meat, but... that is just a guess.

Huepow: What if they're actually poisonous? Or perhaps just taste terrible? We don't know! Besides, I do not really enjoy eating other creatures.

Klonoa: What even is meat?

Huepow's stomach then started to growl a bit as well, as Kio smirked.

Kio: Come on, you know your curiosity wants to try it...

Huepow: Ngh... Alright, fine! Let's hurry up and eat something!

Kio then ran on over to the dead Moo, and dragged it along to the campfire. Noticing he has a bit of trouble dragging it, Klonoa and Huepow help out. As they put the Moo down, they just stare at it for a while.

Klonoa: Soooo... what now? Do we just push it in the fire or something?

Kio: Stand back, and let me handle it. I remember my dad used to do this with a few small animals before. This may get a bit gruesome to see from the front...

Klonoa and Huepow went back to their own mattresses, as they sat down. Kio stretched his arms, began to sit on his knees, and started to reach the inside of the stab wound from the Moo, as he begins to pull his arm in...

After a while as the two were still staring in shock from what Kio did, Kio then pulled his arm out, with various raw meat parts.

Kio: I got them all!

Kio then turned around, and kicked the light Moo with his feet, sending it flying a couple of meters, and eventually popping and disappearing entirely. He then turned back around to both Klonoa and Huepow, noticing they were still staring in shock from Kio gathering the raw meat parts.

Kio: Emm... sorry for that. Usually we don't do that often.

Klonoa: I-I see... Anyway, what now?

Kio: Very simple.

Kio picked up a nearby stick with his other hand, pricked a piece of meat on it, and then started to roast the piece of meat in the campfire.

Kio: You just prick a bit of meat on the stick, and then you hold it into the fire for a while!

Kio held the piece of meat in the fire for twenty or so seconds, and then it was completely grilled. Kio then immediately pulled the stick with the meat out, showcasing the grilled meat to the two.

Klonoa: Oooohhh...

Kio: This is what you call grilled. Grilled food always tastes better. And raw is... well, not really hygienic.

Klonoa and Huepow then both grabbed a stick, pricked a piece of meat on it and then started to grill it... after thirty or so seconds, they both pulled out. First, Huepow takes a bite. His face lightened up a bit, but then went back to normal.

Huepow: It's good, but... still kind of disturbing to me to eat the meat of another creature.

Klonoa: So... meat comes from other creatures? Well... that sounds oddly depressing to eat something from a creature that has to die first...

Klonoa then slowly took a bite of his own piece of meat, as he seemed shocked, and stared in awe.

Klonoa: ...But if it doesn't taste amazing. Goodness this is great!

Kio: I know, right? It's so goooooodd~

Huepow: Well... different strokes, for different folks.

Both Klonoa, Kio and Huepow laughed it off, as they started to eat piece by piece of the meat... as a bit of time passed and they were eating, Kio spoke up a bit.

Kio: So, uh... anyone wanna start a discussion now that we're more fueled up? Usually campfires make for some interesting conversations.

Klonoa: Conversations? Umm...

Huepow: No worries, i'll start... So Klonoa knows me well, but you don't, so i'll fill you in quickly. I am Huepow, the prince of Cress. We actually saved Phantomile together. It was against my duty to leave the Moon Kingdom back then and now. My mother wants me to suit the manner of the 'Prince of Above'. But... I needed Klonoa with me.

Klonoa: I'm sorry I couldn't have been there for you sooner, Huepow...

Huepow: No no, it is alright. I managed to improve my abilities over the years since. So... whatever made me able to summon you back to Phantomile, I will fight alongside with you as hard as I can.

Klonoa: Thank you.

Kio: A-A Prince from the Moon Kingdom?!

Kio then immediately bowed down on his knees to Huepow out of respect.

Kio: Pardon me! My name is Kio, sir! I am a Breezegale resident who has lived there all my life and sells fish!

Huepow and Klonoa stared at each other in a bit of confusion as silence arose, and they both looked back at Kio afterwards.

Huepow: No worries, just be yourself. I honestly would rather just be treated like any other local resident.

Kio: R...Right...

Kio then slowly got back up and started to sit on his own mattress again.

Kio: But... You two saved Phantomile together, hm? Interesting... I wonder why i only really saw you though.

Klonoa: Well, he was hiding in the Wind Ring and powered it.

Klonoa held up his Wind Ring to Kio so he could see it a bit better.

Kio: Ohh, that explains it. Huepow needs to power the thing, right?

Klonoa: Exactly.

Huepow: How did you manage to come by without me, though?

Klonoa: Hmm... well... how did I come by...? I remember there was someone else... but...

Then Klonoa's mind quickly snapped back to the past, gaining another flash in his mind that was more recent...

The young Klonoa was standing over a tall seaside cliff with a priestess girl that had blue eyes, somewhat large ears, long ginger hair, and a tail. She was wearing the standard priestess outfit that consisted of a pink hat, a pink short-sleeved dress, a green wing brooch in the upper center of her dress, black leggings, gold bracelets on her wrists, and brown/pink-ish shoes. The priestess softly spoke up.

Priestess: I need to work hard, too. This time, i'm going to reach the rank of a priestess on my own.

The young Klonoa seemed a bit confused, as he noticed her hat was missing something.

Young Klonoa: You gave up your title as a priestess?

Priestess: Uh-huh... But don't worry!

The priestess then with a bit of confidence turned back to the young Klonoa.

Priestess: I'm not giving up. I'm going to keep trying, even if I will fail.

The priestess then smiled and closed her eyes.

Priestess: After all, I mustn't give the King of Sorrow a reason to cry again, right?

The young Klonoa slightly nodded his head to her, as he looks up to the ocean in the distance, and says...

Young Klonoa: Lolo, I know you can do it. I have faith in you...

The young Klonoa attempts to take a step away from the cliff and to head back. He then heard Lolo try to reach out to the young Klonoa, but she stops herself mid-sentence.

Lolo: So... this is goodbye then...?

The young Klonoa disappointingly nods his head a bit as he had his back turned towards Lolo. She started to sound a bit more sad.

Lolo: Of course it is... Lunatea isn't your world. You have to go home soon, right?

The memories start to fade, as the young Klonoa with a slightly concerned look on his own face turned back around towards her...

Back to reality, Klonoa was staring a bit in oblivion, as both Kio and Huepow were talking a bit to each other. He seemed a bit worried.

Kio: But couldn't he just power the ring himself?

Huepow: He does not have any energy control to power it, so... how could he?

Klonoa slowly looked back to both, as they seemed to have lost their focus, while they were still eating.

Kio: I dunno, maybe his giant ears or something would power that?

Huepow: That sounds really weird and unlogical.

Klonoa then slowly spoke up.

Klonoa: ...A priestess from Lunatea.

They both stopped, and immediately turned back towards Klonoa.

Kio: Hm?

Huepow: Lunatea? I heard of that place as a myth, but... I never knew it actually existed. Tell me, what was it like?

Klonoa: It was... well, it's kind of hard to describe. Their world is divided by the kingdom of emotions.

Huepow: Kingdoms based on emotions, hm? Interesting...

Kio: Yeah, but what about this 'priestess'? Now that grabs my attention! What is she like? Is she cute? Or perhaps even... pretty?

Kio with a smug grin, slided on over closer to Klonoa and nudged him a bit. Klonoa seemed a bit flushed and quiet.

Kio: Come on, spill it out big 'Dream Traveler'.

Huepow: Hey, if Klonoa doesn't feel comfortable, he shouldn't have to answer to such an abrupt question. So please quit it!

Klonoa then sighed a bit, and turned back to Huepow.

Klonoa: Don't worry, i don't mind...

Klonoa then slowly turned his head upwards and looks up to the starry sky, pondering to himself a bit while he started to talk.

Klonoa: She is... insecure and shy, but... she always attempts to put her all in it. We traveled through Lunatea together in order to stop a King.

Kio: Now I need to know who she is...

Huepow: Quit it, Kio...!

Kio: Aww, come on. I won't tell anybody else. Your secrets are safe with me!

Klonoa: ...Lolo.

Huepow: Lolo...?

Klonoa: Yeah... She is just... i don't know.

Klonoa turns his head back to the campfire.

Klonoa: I care for her safety, and I honestly miss her. I want to be sure she's been doing well since i've been gone... I just... don't know how else to put it into words.

Kio: Ooooohhh... do i sense some affection?

Klonoa: Affection...?

Huepow then slightly smacked Kio in the back of the head, as Klonoa was still pondering a bit to himself. Meanwhile, Huepow ate the last piece of meat they had while looking right at Klonoa.

Kio: Oww...?!

Huepow: But regardless... How long have you been gone from Lunatea?

Klonoa: I'm not sure... It feel like it has been only a year, but that is just a guess.

Klonoa then puts his hand in his pocket, and looks at the small, dark blue and shiny triangular crystal, as he seemed a bit sad.

Klonoa: I just wish... I could go back to Lunatea, even if it's just for once. Just to see her again.

Huepow then noticed the crystal in Klonoa's hand.

Huepow: Hey, Klonoa...

Klonoa then snapped back to it, and turned his head back to Huepow.

Klonoa: Hm?

Huepow: Do you mind if I take a look at that crystal?

Klonoa: Oh, no problem. I'm not sure where it came from myself

Klonoa then carefully handed over Huepow the triangular crystal, as he carefully investigated the thing. Eventually, Huepow stopped and slightly shrugged.

Klonoa: So... do you have any idea?

Huepow: No clue... But I sense some mysterious energy coming from it... Almost as if it's ancient.

Klonoa: Ancient?

Huepow: When did you first ended up with the crystal?

Klonoa began to deeply ponder a bit to himself.

Klonoa: I heard you call to me to return to your world after leaving Lunatea... then I immediately ended up in this mysterious dark fortress. I escaped via a mysterious portal, and then ended up back here.

Huepow: A portal like the one from when you left Phantomile?

Klonoa: No, It was more... ominous. There were mysterious streams of green and blue coming from this portal as opposed to a black void that sucked me in...

Huepow: Strange... I definitely called you back from the top of Cress just like I did back then, but never with a portal like that...

Klonoa: Hmmm...

As the two were starting to ponder a bit, Kio then heavily began to yawn.

Kio: Well, i dunno about you guys but i'm pooped. Too much that happened today.

Huepow: Well, I agree. I need some rest after my rather long journey across the plains...

Klonoa: Sleep? But... I still feel pretty awake.

Huepow: But your body could use the rest.

Klonoa: Well... alright.

Kio: I'm going to prepare some food early in the morning for the journey up ahead, so... don't worry about the gathering of meat or something else like that.

Huepow: Sounds good. We'll discuss our route further up in the morning.

Klonoa: Okay...

Klonoa then grabbed his blanket from on the mattress, as did Huepow and Kio. They all one by one went under their blanket on the mattresss, turned their head around, closed their eyes and began to try and sleep.

Klonoa: G...Goodnight, Huepow... Kio...

Kio: Night...

Huepow: Good night.

As Kio and Huepow quickly fell asleep, Klonoa pondered a bit to himself while trying to sleep... Thinking back on the past.

Klonoa: Hmmmm...
