Beacon Academy, 9:11 PM, Wednesday, RWBY Dormitory
Where is her team? Weiss isn't as rebellious as the average teenager, not to mention the times she is... she's the lazy kind of rebellious. Blake shouldn't have run away again; she has nothing to hide from the rest of her team now. And the fact that Yang's not here either is even more worrying! Usually, her team ends up returning back at 8PM unless they decide to go out together. In which they didn't invite Ruby. Likely due to the age difference. Being seventeen in Vale means one can do more stuff at night, compared to a fifteen year old.
After a couple of minutes of not seeing any note... Ruby is worried. She sat down on Weiss' bed. Thinking about where the heck they would go to. The Central park building across the CCT? Nah, JNPR's decorating in there. They wouldn't go to a nightclub, for obvious reasons involving Yang. Yet again, doesn't stop Weiss and Blake. Oh boy the variable that they're not all at one place just overwhelms Ruby.
And that's when Ruby found a note.
Hey Rubes, couldn't find you, but we're heading out! We'll be back in an hour or so. - Yang
Well at least they left on their own terms. But the fact it's late is concerning, grimm... and vampires are more active around the time of night. What if they were captured? Ruby didn't want to hesistate and went back outside to the city and headed to look for her team.
City of Vale, 9:15 PM, Wednesday, Uptown
Uptown first, because it's closest to Beacon. Ruby is in nevermore form for this... hopefully her team doesn't shoot her and end having to explain to her team to why she can turn into a grimm. Because that would inevitably lead to her spouting up 'vampire'.
Speaking of vampires... If the vampires have captured her team, what would they do to them? Use them as leverage to get Ruby to join their fold? Keep em as cattle? Or turn them to vampires like Ruby? All of those scenarios are unpleasing to think about. So, she just focusses on finding her team. So far around the area near Beacon... nothing. But she continues and does a double check on the area. It's best to check Uptown first since it's the safest. But yet again... perhaps someone else should know where her team has gone.
She finds an alleyway to hide to and turn back into her human form. She than walks out of it in search for someone to ask to where her team went to.
It's best to stay on the sidewalk. Last thing Ruby wants is to be hit by a car and die for good. Or as Nora seems to predict, wake up in a cart with a blonde man announcing that she woke up. Like that would ever happen. But that's not on the point, the point is she's looking for her team, and she needs to ask someone to help her find them.
Oh... here's someone now.
"Hey, excuse me? Have you seen one of my friends? Black-haired, wears a bow? Or perhaps Yellow haired, purple-eyed, short tempered. Or silver haired-blue eyed?" Ruby asked.
"Are you describing one person or three?" The person asked.
"Three."
"Well, kid. Last I checked, I saw three women heading to the central park, I don't know much beyond there."
"Well, thank you."
That person than walked past Ruby. At least she has a good idea to where to look next. Central Park. Hopefully she can find something from there. Out of force of habit, Ruby activated her semblance, creating a fast wind of speed, and leaving behind a trail of wilted rose petals. But Ruby doesn't really care at this point. Not like anyone could connect to random rose petals to Ruby in the middle of night. Sure, it's a bit reckless, but Ruby feels more so herself using her semblance than her vampire powers.
JNPR is likely at Central park decorating the area for the Dance. So, if they are there, that means they are more than likely safe. If not, and if JNPR is still there, that means they'd know where her team went... right? Hope so. Because Ruby doesn't want to end up Repeating her first year because the rest of her team went MIA or worse.
City of Vale, 9:45 PM, Wednesday, Central Park
Ruby ended up landing near the observatory, AKA: the place where the dance will be held, and the place across the CCT. Ruby walked in and thankfully JNPR is here. Although Ruby better need to do some explaining to why she's in the observatory at this hour though.
"Ruby, what are you doing here?" Jaune asked.
"Just looking for my team." Ruby said.
"They didn't tell you where they went?"
"Nope."
"Well. They did stop by here for some reason, although Blake was very reluctant though. Weiss wanted to see the decorations put up." Nora said.
"Did Weiss ask you out?" Ruby asked.
"No, sadly..." Jaune said.
"Did they tell you where they went?"
"Well... Blake said she was going somewhere south-east."
"South-East? Like how far south-east?"
"I forgot... all I payed attention to is south east."
"So... like near the agricultural district?"
"Well... I wouldn't know that for sure... without a map."
"Of course, you wouldn't know that."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"She's saying you have a bad sense of direction." Nora said.
"My sense of direction is not that bad." Jaune said.
"Didn't you get lost on the first day of school?"
"I was following Ruby!"
"What about the time you walked into a deathstalker's cave?"
"That was one time!"
"Actually, that happened twice!"
"Shush!"
While Jaune was getting embarrassed by Nora, Ruby just went left and decided to head south east, which means Blake is likely heading to Mountain Glenn to rush things. Despite this, the both of them agreed to go there on Monday with the rest of the team. Yet again, she may be approaching the border of mountain glenn and not find anyone.
City of Vale, 10:15 PM, Wednesday, South-East Gate.
The gate to ensure that no one is stupid enough to wander into Mountain Glenn. Although not directly leading to Mt. Glenn, there was a path from the gate that lead to the city. They built this after a student huntsman wandered there one time and got their entire team killed. The surviving teammate dropped out and was never seen or heard from again. Tragic. And this is the place her team would inevitably end up going the day after the dance... whether following the escorted huntsman or huntress or not. Mountain Glenn was a project to expand the city of Vale, but due to poor management, grimm overwhelmed the area, leaving no survivors. Ever since than, the city district was sealed off... although the initial security was not good enough due to the well... incident involving a training team that got killed at Mt. Glenn after roaming there, only than they re-enforced the gates.
The young vampire didn't see her team anywhere near it though. And from the looks of it, there's no conceivable way to get in. Security around the gates are tight around night. It's to ensure nobody ends up dying in there. The entire place is full of grimm. Older grimm too.
So that means Blake wouldn't have broke in and the rest of the team followed, because there would be evidence of violent force around the outer-gates.
Ruby asks around to see if anyone has seen her team. Ruby's really concerned about where they may be. Then someone said something about three girls causing a ruckus in downtown. Dang, Ruby was just at Downtown around a couple of hours ago. And now she has to come back there.
Jeez... walking back and forth, back, and forth. Well, running and semblancing, and the occasional flying. It would exhaust Ruby if not for the fact that she can't get tired... because she's a vampire. But it doesn't matter, she has a lead to where her team may be. They may be in a ruckus, and from the sound of it, it sounds like they started it. Hopefully Ruby can get them out of any issue they are in... if they are in one.
City of Vale, 10:37 PM, Wednesday, Downtown
Ruby showed up back at downtown. And now she's spending her time looking for her team here. She started by checking the docks. Knowing the criminals, they like to operate at the coast. Although for reasons unknown. Maybe because of something with boats. Pirates perhaps? Nah, not enough coastal cities for Pirating coasts to be practical. But Ruby finds it weird.
She doesn't see her team here though. Better go more inland and check from there.
Ruby went on and eventually found her team near the downtown entrance to Old Town... apparently, they got caught in a fight with those vampires Ruby knocked out. Well. Guess that whole hour searching for her team was her fault. But no matter, guess Ruby has to help them fight those vampires. How did they get through all of that anyway?
Character Change: Ruby Rose - Blake Belladonna
Beacon Academy, 7:20 PM (3 hours, 37 minutes until the present), Wednesday, RWBY Dormitory
That was a filling dinner. Ruby must have made those meals for Weiss and Yang to make up for their lunch detention with Oobleck. And must have used up a lot of fridge budget. Ruby must have headed out somewhere to get more bloodpacks.
"Hey, wanna know what we should do? Just like, hang out somewhere." Yang said.
"Anywhere in mind?" Weiss asked.
"Nah, just go out chill in like locations and stuff."
"Should we wait for Ruby to come back first?" Blake asked.
"Normally, yes. But she has the tendency to go out at the middle of the night recently. So, I don't really know where she would be." Yang said.
"How long has she been doing this?" Weiss asked.
"As far as I remember, since the Blackout at Beacon."
"Do you think something happened to her to make her more of a night person?"
"Like what? It's just Ruby. I doubt she'd be into something dark and broody."
"That's not what I meant."
"Oh?"
"Do you think she's in a cult?"
"Didn't we already have this discussion, Ruby's not in a cult." Blake defended Ruby.
"Is it bad to be concerned about our leader's mental health. She's sleeping through the day, and up at night. We haven't seen her eat anything since she came back on Tuesday." Weiss objected.
"Sorry Blake, but Weiss has a point. Ruby's been acting a bit out of the ordinary." Yang said. "I haven't even seen her use her semblance save for tactics class, and that's concerning me."
"See? And let's not get onto why she's been wearing the bandana!"
"What's with you Weiss? Why are you so investigative!?" Blake asked.
"And why are you defending her? You two barely even talked to each other until after she came back on Tuesday!" Weiss objected.
"And you have been spending a lot of time together with her." Yang followed.
"maybe she just wants to spend time with the one teammate she spent the least amount of time with." Blake said.
"In a secluded area at lunch time? You're hiding something!" Weiss objected.
"I am not hiding anything!" Blake said.
"You're hiding your cat ears with that bow." Yang said, trying to be funny.
"Wow, real clever Yang." Blake said with sarcasm.
"So? What is it? Do you have something we should know about Ruby?" Weiss interrogated.
"How about we go out to the central park? See what JNPR is doing with the dance!" Blake averted the topic.
"Good Idea! I need to know if we're gonna have fog machines!" Yang said.
"Doilies are better." Weiss argued.
"Let's just go." Blake said.
"Hold on, let me write something to Ruby, she'll get worried if we leave unannounced." Yang said.
"We have scrolls, should we just... use them?" Blake asked.
"Nah."
"Very well than."
The three decide to take a bullhead to central park. To see what JNPR is up to, only to keep Weiss distracted from trying to figure out about Ruby's condition on her own. She'll need to tell her team eventually; Ruby can't hide her condition like this anymore at this rate. But at least Blake is good at delaying their suspiciousness. But Blake doubts that would she could delay them forever. They'd need to know, and Blake promised Ruby that she wouldn't tell them. And she's going to keep on to this promise.
Beacon Academy, 7:50 PM (3 hours, 17 minutes until present), Wednesday, Central Park
The three of them arrived at the central park. And headed to the observatory. Blake knew Weiss had a lowkey crush on Jaune, just she's very not great with romance. Well, given that the priorities within right now, Blake needs to focus on preparing to get into mountain glenn, because no doubt no sane professor would let a bunch of first year students go there. Not after what happened to the last lot of first years. But Blake promised to Ruby, wait until they get a mission there.
Blake was just watching as Weiss flustered and passively aggressively talked to Jaune. The Decorations look a bit... mismatching. Yellow, Purple, Orange, Green, and Brown. Well, at least it's creative. But Blake has to acknowledge the fact that it looks a bit ugly. Thankfully she's there to give some helpful tips... or Yang is doing so already, thankfully she's telling them to stick to one or two colors. She's also suggesting Fog Machines, and which Weiss than heard and went about saying that they should have Doilies.
The Conversation is just too bothersome for her to pay attention to. Not like she is going to the dance after all. Sure, she's not wasting her life trying to look for it, but she could use the time to study and train for the mission. It is after all the first mission. No need for mishaps.
"So... are ya going to ask me something?" Jaune said to Weiss.
"No, no... nothing at all. Just want to remind you that I was starving all afternoon thanks to you!" Weiss responded.
"Since when did you become all passive-aggressive?"
"Does it matter?"
"Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't."
"Well why are you being passive-aggressive!?"
"Because you are being passive-aggressive!"
"I am not passive-aggressive!"
"Yes, you are!"
"Come on Yang, we're heading somewhere south east!"
"Do you have anywhere specific in mind?" Yang asked Weiss.
"I'll tell you once Jaune can't hear us!" Weiss answered.
Oddly specific, but understandable. From what Blake knows, Weiss is not a huge fan of detention, especially the kind that won't let her eat at lunch time. So, her being mad at Jaune is way more than reasonable when it comes to this stuff. Although she is following the rest of her team, mostly out of boredom. So far, this event is much more eventful than the opera night Ruby planned. God that show was boring. Not all Operas have to be musical numbers people.
City of Vale, 8:20 PM (2 hours, 37 minutes until present), Wednesday, The One Karaoke Bar Yang Didn't Get Banned From
It was a karaoke bar. And one where Yang wasn't banned from. Apparently, Yang has a habit of getting banned from Venues like these. But it doesn't matter, Blake's just sitting reading her book, being her typical self whilst Weiss and Yang are partaking in a Karaoke competition.
Weiss had just finished; her reputation of a great singer is not overestimated. Hopefully nothing happens to that voice of hers. She just sang a popular song that she's currently into. Weiss sat down next to Blake to hear Yang sing, whilst Yang got onto the stage, and is selecting a song. Weiss meanwhile is also ordering a drink to refresh her voice.
And guess what she picks? Well...
"MOVE FAST BABY, DON'T BE SLOOW! STEP ASIDE! RELOAD! TIME TO GO-O! I CAN'T SEEM TO CONTROL ALL THIS RAGE THAT'S INSIDE ME!" Yang sings.
Well... that's an interesting song to pick. But her singing is like well... Mediocre, not bad... but not good at all. And it's also loud... and surprisingly her semblance isn't acting up and activating on it's own. Is there some sort of weird set of rules her semblance follows? Sometimes it activates, sometimes it doesn't... it's very inconsistent. But her singing is loud and irritating enough to distract her reading. Why exactly did Blake agree to accompany them? Oh, so that they don't get any ideas that Blake is in some sort of cult with Ruby. Eventually they're gonna confront her about her strange change of habits.
Yet again, If Blake didn't head out and search for Ruby, she would have found at the first Thursday at longest. She's not as subtle as she thinks she is. She slept with her arms crossed until Blake reminded her not to do that. Her non-usage of her semblance is an out of the ordinary trait, and pretty sure people won't mind the difference in color and quality of the rose petals, even though it's a bit suspicious... yet again, using her semblance would mean people would investigate why it's like that, so it's actually pretty clever for her not to do that... she's got a good point there.
There's also the fact that she doesn't eat anything, even if it is to keep up a ruse. Guess she doesn't have an appetite for anything for anything other than blood. But eventually someone's gonna piece things together that Ruby is not what she seems to be. A cute, sweet, innocent, living little girl. Instead, she's a cute, sweet, semi-innocent, undead blood-drinking vampire chick. Well, not the way that Blake worded it in her mind, they're gonna see her as a monster.
"PULLIN' SHOTS, AIMIN' DOTS! YEAH, I DON'T MISS! BRANDED BY FIRE! BORN IN THE ABYSS! RED HOT TEMPER I JUST CAN'T RESIST ALL THIS VENGENCE INSIDE ME!" Yang sings.
The instrumental part of the song kicked in. Ya, this is not a good choice for a karaoke song. But at least without Yang's singing she can read a couple of words until the chorus kicks in. So far... she's doing worse than Weiss according to the karaoke machine score. Which is not surprising, given that Weiss does have a reputation for her voice. Well at least the other patron's don't mind. Nor do they like it either, they're just kind of meh about it. Ruby would not be happy that the three of them went to a Karaoke Bar without her.
Although Blake is only here reluctantly, as mentioned earlier. But she wonders what Ruby is doing during all of this. Although she does have an idea. Being that's she's a vampire, she's most likely looking for something to drink. Since Blake can't feed her for a bit. Hopefully Yang didn't write an overly vague note so Ruby would be worried about the whereabouts of the rest of her team. Even than, they'd be back at Beacon by 9:00 PM.
City of Vale, 9:10 PM (1 hour, 47 minutes until present), Wednesday, Downtown
That Karaoke duel between the two of them had took longer than expected. But thankfully the three of them managed to get bored of singing songs and decided to head back home to actually do their homework and go to sleep. Ruby would arrive at around 10 PM anyway after spending the night searching for blood to consume or bloodpacks to store in the fridge. Which is not actually a good place for them because Weiss and Yang could go open and search for something in the back and whoops, she'd need to fess up on her vampirism.
They were heading back, only to see a bunch of unconscious folks near the Old Town gate.
Weiss and Yang went to try and help them snap back to consciousness, and that's when they got up. And of course, they had to be vampires. Dangit Ruby, she had to stick by her no-kill rule for vampires of all things?
"Weiss, Yang get back!" Blake warned.
"Why?" Weiss asked.
"Just trust me!" Blake stated.
The two of them went away from the vampires, although they didn't know that vampires existed so they've hesitated a bit first before realisng Blake was in the right. And right when they were halfway done. The two of them stopped moving, they were in place. Blake had to help them. Blake went in and use the bow on Gambrol shroud to grab the leg of one of the vampires and trip them. Followed by shooting the leg of the other one.
While in most cases that can incapacitate anyone, these vampires were a lot more durable. If this was any other mook, she would have won by now. But at least Yang and Weiss could move again.
Which is good, hopefully the numbers advantage could resolve this conflict quickly.
Character Change: Blake Belladonna - Ruby Rose
City of Vale, 10:57 PM (back at present), Wednesday, Downtown
From the looks of it, this fight has been going on for almost two hours, and her team is looking a bit worn down. So, Ruby intervened trying to save her team! She burst in, rose petals and all to attack the vampires. Although since she's not sneaking up on them are interrupting them, they dodged her attacks.
Looks like any tactics that involve them going one by one is not going to work. Looks like Ruby's going to need a field test some of her techniques.
Well, given that Night vision doesn't really cover for fog-vision... She needs to get them unfocused.
"Freezerburn!" Ruby yelled. Let's see if they remembered this move.
Although they are tired, and Ruby understands that, but they perform the move. Weiss freezing the ground and Yang punching it... creating the Fog... but from the sound of it, the two are fully worn out. Because the both of them, along with Blake fell asleep. Guess Ruby has to carry them for the fight.
She really can't do any more combo moves with her team in this condition, fighting for a whole hour. And Now Ruby has to fight two vampires outnumbered.
Hopefully the Fog and the Frozen road is enough of an advantage Ruby can use. Ruby uses her semblance to Blitz one of them across, knocking them on the wall.
Now she needs to focus on the other one. Said vampire activates their own grimm claws. Ruby can't be on the defensive against the vampires, she needs to stay on the offensive. But going in charging at the vampire is suicide... but than she remembers. Dodge and than strike. Guess she'll just have to be on the defensive. For she'll give her little new tactic a field test. She drew Crescent Rose, but doesn't make a move... yet.
She waits for the other vampire to strike in, and than she dodged the attack, used her semblance to move behind them, and than made a strike with her scythe. Dealing a severe blow to the vampire, however not incapacitating them in one hit. This one's got fight in them, and Ruby's got to incapacitate them for they take her team to the catacombs.
The second vampire snuk up behind Ruby, but she briefly turned into bird form to get the grasp out, and than back into human form to strike them down. So now it's one on one. Ruby loads Crescent Rose with Wind rounds, and prepares to deal with the other vampire, she uses the recoil from the bullet to strike down the other vampire in one blitzing hit. Now she just has to get her team back to Beacon.
Ruby picked her entire team up. And jeez, they're heavy... even for Ruby's enhanced strength. And made her way to the nearest bullhead station. Because now she just needs to get her team back to their dorm... and forge their writings to do their homework, because chances are, they didn't do their homework, not even Weiss this time around.
Author's Footnote: And that's where I'll end it for now. Since Ruby has found her team, and saved them. I had alternate Ideas that were too over or anti-climatic so I went with this one. The song lyrics of "Devil Trigger" are owned by Ali Edwards and CapCom. And no, I do not intend for this to be a crossover. Any questions, comments, suggestions, criticisms, please leave in the reviews.
