Author's Headnote: Soooo... ya... Here we are, beginning Thursday class with this chapter. I intended for the previous chapter to be longer, but I didn't want anyone to think I died. Anyways let's answer the question.

Ruby will be able to achieve other shapes, but not now. And the Silver eyes will be an important part of the story, so no fret.

So, without a further ado, let's get into the chapter now, shall we?

Bullhead, 11:00 PM, Wednesday, From Vale to Beacon

Ruby sat her team down on some chairs on the bullhead. And woke them up. Sure, they were in a grumpy mood, but they need to get prepared for bed on their own, and Ruby doesn't want her sister getting an eye infection.

"Ruby, who were those guys?" Yang asked.

"I don't know them personally, but they're bad people. Only hang around at night, I spend my nights dealing with them." Ruby half-lied.

"Like... killing them?" Weiss asked.

"What? No! There are lines I won't even cross Weiss!" Ruby answered.

"Well thank goodness, although why did you wake us up?"

"I didn't want to get all three of you in bed on my own, and I don't want Yang here getting an eye-infection."

"That's nice." Yang commented.

"Hey, I don't like waking you either." Ruby replied.

"Whatever, just wake us up when we get back to Beacon." Blake complained.

"That's fine, Weiss and Blake can have a brief nap, but not Yang! Her contacts are still on and I don't want her getting an infection!" Ruby stated.

"Aren't I'm the one supposed to be the motherly sister?" Yang questioned.

"You passed out fighting two people, and I was worried as hell when you didn't show up when I came back at 9!" Ruby said. "Where were you three?"

"Well, we went out to a karaoke bar." Yang said.

"Awww... you went to do karaoke without me? Now I'm sad and worried!"

"Cheer up, you'll attract grimm!"

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

Beacon Academy, 12:00 AM (Oh boy they are not going to have a good morning), Thursday, RWBY Dormitory

The rest of her team went to sleep. Surprised they didn't ask how Ruby managed to get herself out of there alive. Or how she defeated them no less. They may bring up it in the future though, so Ruby likely jinxed that for herself. Go figure for that.

Given that they'll have less hours of sleep than they normally would, they would be grumpy when they wake up. So, Ruby decides to do her homework, and forge her teammates handwriting and do their homework as well. Sure, it's cheating, but she doesn't want her team's grades to suffer after all. Although a couple of questions will be answered incorrectly on purpose to avoid suspicion.

Handwriting forgery is a simple trick. It's something Ruby picked up when she was ten whenever Yang forgets to do her homework. It was pretty simple really, just had to practice at first. It's not something Ruby would have a flashback to, no. Because why would anyone flashback to the time they learned how to copy someone's handwriting? But that doesn't matter, she has to four copies of homework to answer.

And after she's done with all that, she'll need to shower. Along with cooking up something energizing for her team. To make up for the smaller amount of sleep they had because of the fighting against two vampires for who knows how long.

But they're asleep now. And Ruby's done with her team's homework. And now to go shower because she doesn't want to smell like the dead... even though she actually is dead. Clinically. Although she doesn't really feel alive either. Yet again, why would she? She's a vampire! One who has to conceal it to everyone save for Blake and other vampires. She can't be out in the sun, has to drink blood, and hide her mouth! She basically has a limited window to spend time with her small circle of friends. Maybe she'll feel happier when she attends the dance.

Ruby got out of the shower and put something on. But not the bandana, she needs to wash that. Since she can't put it in the washer nor could she be seen without it. She went to the kitchen and hand-washed her cloth carefully using the dish soap. Sure, it's not good for the cloth, but it's quicker than going to the washer downstairs at the dormitory and then pick it up at 6 AM (When the sun would be up).

While she was doing that, she may as well load the dishwasher and run it, almost no one remembers the run the thing anyway, not even Ruby. Besides, it's overdue for something, the dirty dishes are stacking on the counters because the sink is full. It's something that needs to be done, for awhile.

Although she can spend this time to learn about her vampiric condition. And it's only been over one week since she was turned. May as well read into chapter eight of Vampirica Encyclopedia. Although they did spell the title of the book wrong on chapter seven.

Vampirica Encyclopedia, Volume 1, Chapter 8: Protection from the sun.

This chapter focuses on how vampires can protect themselves from the sun. Well, it's simple, be inside all day without any openings to let raw sunlight in, right? Correct. However, if a vampire does need to be out during the daytime, continue reading. If the vampire reading this has no aura or has no interest going outside during the day, stop reading the chapter unless one is curious. Especially if the reader is not a vampire.

Being covered from head to toe in clothing could theoretically reduce the amount of damage a vampire's aura has to endure. Of course, simply ensuring no part of the skin touches sunlight is also a way to reduce sun damage. Keyword being reduce, because complete negation is pretty hard to do. Unless one would travel in a box or a coffin from place to place during daylight hours, but this would require a mortal, and one that is willing to help the vampire for some reason.

Although there are reasons to be out during the day. But they must remember to stay inside as much as possible during the day. So, no outdoor activities during the day. Even if one is going out during the day, it is only to move from one building to the next. This is completely dumb to do unless said building is pretty near the current location of the vampire.

Overall, the best protection against the sun is the indoors. If one needs to feed during the day, just lure them inside.

And if a vampire must really need to go outside during the day for long periods of time. They'll need two things: an aura and to be covered from head to toe. Although this will only slow down the rate of the aura depletion. But it's enough for a vampire to last thirty minutes outside in the sunlight. So, if a vampire needs to outside, bring the timer. And it doesn't reset because aura does not recover on it's own. So, it's pretty risky to do so.

There are some rumors however, that an elixir from

Ruby stopped reading because she was only re-reading what she was reading back at night one of her... condition. That and an elixir that could shield her from the sun? That's the dumbest thing she'd ever read. Although it would be convenient to have. Why she decided to re-read it again is beyond her. But that's not the point. The point is she's just reading this while the dishwasher is running, and her bandanna is drying. It's going to be awhile before she has to go cook something for her team or get ready for Thursday class, so may as well read up on a chapter. Even if she did skim it back at night one.

After a while, she than unloads the dishwasher and than re-loads it again... and runs it again, because the dishes were far from done after one run of the dishwasher.

Guess now she has a time to prepare a high-energy breakfast for her team. She knows a couple of recipes. Nothing too complex of filling, just something to get her team filled up with energy to make up for the lack of sleep they had. Especially on Yang's part. For someone who's nearsighted she really has a bad choice in bedding. Sleeping on the top bunk? Well, she managed to cause minimal damage when preparing. Although not being able to see past 6 feet is a real inhibiter.

Thankfully she's preparing meals that don't need to be heated up so she can have her team eat it at anytime. So, after all that's done preparing the meals and all. Ruby relaxes and grabs a couple of bloodpacks to drink.

After a whole week and a half, Ruby thinks she's getting a hang of the vampire stuff. Now she just has to keep her condition hidden. Speaking of, now she has to put her bandana back on, being that it's clean and dry now. Along with her uniform for Thursday. Just today and tomorrow until the weekend and the dance.

Ruby leaves a note that tells her team about the breakfast and that she's already entered the school building, so don't worry about her. She left somewhere that everyone on her team would look.

Beacon Academy, 5:30 AM (2 hours, 30 minutes until class starts), Thursday, Cafeteria

Ruby was sitting down by herself of course. She set an alarm, put on her headphones to take a small nap. This course of events is going to be very uninteresting for Ruby. So may as well sleep though it.

From over across the entire week and a half, she mostly spent time hanging out with either JNPR, Blake, or by her lonesome. And even than, those were for more business intentions. Although Blake is getting a bit closer to Ruby. She also wonders what Blake would look like wearing a dress. Like something formal and stuff. Maybe she would find out once Ruby asks her out. May as well ask Blake because clearly Blake's in no rush to ask Ruby.

Although many would joke that Ruby would take her scythe as her date. Well one, Crescent Rose is a weapon. Two, Ruby doesn't really like weapons in that sort of fashion. Sure, she's a weapon's fanatic, but she wouldn't take a weapon with her to the bedroom. Because that's not only dangerous and unhygienic, but it's also disgusting. And even than, school rules even apply outside of school grounds when it comes to events like that, so she really couldn't bring her scythe with her anyway.

And with her newfound strength, she could theoretically beat Yang in an arm wrestle, but she would let Yang win to keep suspicions down, unless Yang knows about Ruby being a vampire. In that case, Ruby would need to ask her how she figured that out.

She knows she can't use her powers in public, or at all. And if anyone found about her additional powers, she and her team would be disqualified about the Vytal tournament for sure. Assuming she's not being killed for being a blood-sucking monster. Ya, it's bad enough that there are people out there who want faunas to suffer, just imagine the public once they found out vampires are real. Oh boy, Ruby's going to have a target painted on her back.

With the exception of her semblance, like she knows. But she really can't use it often because the rose petals are different, and people are going to be suspicious.

And during all this thinking in her sleep she's-

"Ruby? Are you alright?"

Ruby than let out a gasp and than went behind her... oh, it's just Yang.

"Yes, I'm alright Yang. I just took a small nap, that's all." Ruby said.

"It's 6:45." Yang answered

"And I took the nap at 5:30"

"Wait, hold on. My scroll clock is an hour slow. It's 7:45!"

"What? But I set the alarm to..."

"Yours got an hour slow too?"

"Obviously."

"Get to class Ruby, I don't want to be at detention with Cardin."

"Alright, alright, I'm going!"

Ruby rushed and went to Ooblecks class. Since now Ruby has to deal with all the rushing people who don't want to be late for class and end up in detention. Of course, she was lucky yesterday. Today may not be the case this time. Can't use her semblance for multiple reasons.

Beacon Academy, 7:53 AM (In class, on time, thank goodness! Daylight warning.), Thursday, History Class (In session)

Ruby rushed into her seat and managed to be spared from the detentioning, Yang too. And it appears that Blake managed to get on time as well. In fact, chances are she was here early. Guess those high-energy breakfasts did a lot to boost them for the day.

Ruby waited until the class started, and the immense boredom she feels across the class doesn't help.

Eventually class did start and now she starts the infamous Oobleck detention counter.

Oobleck Detention Count: 1

Oobleck was out for checking attendance. Which he does in the average time of five seconds. And after that he went in and made his regular announcement.

"Good morning class. Today we'll resume our lecture from yesterday. About Vale's most infamous King, Valencon IV. We've already discussed his early life, or all that history recorded of it. Valencon's childhood was not accurately recorded because he was mostly kept away from the outside world and was tutored directly by his- Ah. Miss Schnee, Mr. Arc. You two will see me after class. Again." Oobleck lectured before interrupted. Guess Jaune and Weiss are going to have detention again. Ruby can feel the annoyance and anger coming from Oobleck.

Oobleck Detention Count: 3

"Back on topic. Valencon's childhood was not accurately recorded because he was mostly kept away from the outsi- You four! Detention!" Oobleck yelled. Anger getting louder. Thankfully that's basically everyone in the class now. So, the detention count will be lower compared to yesterday's. And Ruby's fine with it. That means Oobleck can get on with class now.

Oobleck Detention Count: 7

"Anyways. Valencon's childhood was not accuratley recorded because he was mostly kept away from the outside world and was tutored directly by his father. He was not allowed outside or play with other kids. By the time Kristoff II died from falling down a flight of stairs, Valencon IV became the next king of Vale. Although at the time, he was a bit young. And he was suspected to push his father down the said flight of stairs. Likely because Kristoff II was likely an abusive father, and was rumored to beat young Valencon when he was younger.

By the time he was old enough to rule. He was coronated like normal. But than started his reign. He initially ordered the execution of his mother and step-mother, but his most trusted court advisor and later first headmaster of Beacon. Oliver Zacharry Pennil insisted on letting the two live. So instead, he had their tongues cut off and had them marry off to less-powerful duchies in the kingdom. This is completely messed up, and outraged the two duchies. And had violated the non-aggression pact. Ivorygrove and Bloodshire had both broken off from Vale. Valencon than came in and razed the city of Ivorygrove first. Bloodshire was a lot harder though.

Whilst in Vale, he started the construction of three structures in Beacon that is notable to this day. One, the Catacombs. Two, the Clocktower, and three. Beacon Academy. Although at the time it was to be called Vale School for huntsmen. And it was a lot smaller. You may have noticed some older stairways that lead into the main city, that was part of initial construction of the Academy, and one of the few original parts of the school. The stairs are not to be used for they are to be preserved for historical reasons. But most people arrive to Beacon through the bullheads in modern times, and rarely take the stairs there. Mostly because the climb is incredibly high.

During his reign he started an iron first regime. Being that no one was to go out at night. Anyone caught outside would be arrested and taken to the catacomb prison. During the destruction of Ivorygrove, Bloodshire seceded from the Kingdom and went to invade Vale directly as a result from this. Lead by their Duke." Oobleck lectured.

A picture of the duke of the duke is shown across the class.

The man in the picture resembles the man who bit Ruby. It's possible that they're the same person. What is she thinking? Of course, it's the same person! He's a vampire, and so is Ruby. But as far as the public is known, the Duke is dead, and Ruby's fully among the living.

"He sought to invade and overthrow Valencon IV to rule himself. Given the vast actions too vulgar to say in a classroom he had done to those who defied his rule. Many of the other minor powers in South eastern Vale have joined the duke. This event is known as the Valean civil war.

At first it looked like Valencon was about to lose. With the Duke ever closely approaching DC. That is until he brought out a mysterious Silver-bladed Battleaxe." Oobleck lectured.

"Uhh... Isn't silver a bad choice for weapons?" Ruby asked.

"That's a fair argument. And in hindsight I should have been more specific. There are two types of silver. The much more common Silver that's used in decorative weaponry and old coin-based currencies. And than there's the rare grimmsilver. Grimmsilver appears almost identical to common silver, but unlike it's more common counterpart it's much more potent than steel and is easier to forge than said steel. Grimmsilver also has a special property that allows weapons made from it to cut through grimm and grimm-armor like paper! There's also rumors that it burned any grimm who touched it. However, there are almost no deposits of this metal, much unlike dust. The only weapon made from it is Valencon's weapon, Ivory's Wrath. Since it was forged for his father by Ivorygrove smiths. Ironically he used that very axe to destroy the very town where the smith came from."

"Where is the axe today?" Pyrrha asked.

"Good question, It is said to be buried with Valencon IV in an unmarked grave, so that no one would try to destroy his axe. Although it's crazy to think that anyone would destroy an axe that could kill a Wyvern with ease. The Duke invaded Vale at night when he was stopped and dueled the king one on one. Eventually, the King won. And had captured the Duke. Later on, that same night, he would be burned at the stake. And the Duke's wife executed.

After that he started the rebuilding of Ivorygrove, which only fell to grimm twenty years after Valencon IV's death. Bloodshire since than was ruled directly by the Monarchy of Vale until the modern council government was established. The locals of Vale (except bloodshire) all celebrate the anniversary of Valencon IV's burning of the duke. Which is called Pyrefest.

In all and all, Valencon IV is one of the more cruel and ruthless monarchs out there, but he is the one who shaped the traditions and layout of the city of Vale and the Kingdom as a whole today. We do not sugar-court Valencon IV's deeds, he's a ruthless monarch. And his successor, Marianne I spent her reign cleaning up all the damage done by Valencon IV. Including sealing up the Catacomb prison he had made for those who defied him.

I had made a proposal to the Headmaster countless times for an excavation of the catacombs, but he said no countless times. Although I stopped asking after my substitute teacher lead a field trip to the catacombs two years ago. Only one student made it out. I asked what happened, but I wasn't given an answer. Said it was better if I didn't know. Although the curiosity is killing me! What could be in those catacombs that must be kept secret!? Oh, Sorry I must have gotten off topic. Now, where was I? Ah yes!" Oobleck lectured.

Now Oobleck was going around asking questions to see if anyone was paying attention to the lectures. Sure, Ruby didn't catch all of it. But clearly, she can get by.

"Ms. Rose? Review question: What was the axe Ivory's Wrath is made of?" Oobleck asked.

"Grimmsilver" Ruby answered. She would pay attention to this kind of stuff. Wonder why the metal is so rare. Clearly this stuff would be useful as heck for slaying grimm. So why hasn't anyone searched for the stuff? That or it's just incredibly rare. And Ruby can guess what happened in the catacombs two years ago. Guess those must be the other third year students Ruby saw back when she came to for the first time as a vampire.

Ruby is just waiting to get out of class... next is dust studies oh boy that would be fun. (That's sarcasm).

Beacon Academy, 1:00 PM (Lunchtime, Daylight warning), Thursday, Cafeteria

Ruby actually went to lunch this time, got to keep an appearance up or less people will get suspicious and try to figure where did good old Ruby wound up. She didn't get any food because she remembered she didn't put on any costume makeup. However, she'll just sit with her team and remain silent unless spoken to.

"What's wrong Ruby? Aren't you hungry?" Yang asked concerned.

"Nope, I'm not hungry at all. Just fine." Ruby said.

"You sure? You won't get another shot at eating until after classes."

"I'm fine Yang."

"You must have had a large breakfast than." Nora commented.

"Yep, a large breakfast." Ruby went along with.

"Well, you must have eaten a lot than. Although I've never seen you actually eat anything for over a week. I'm just concerned." Yang responded.

"It's fine Yang. I know what's going on. And after electives is the qualifier matchups for the Vytal tournament. Well... part one of it." Ruby said.

"And this is why I want you to eat up! So, you don't fight on an empty stomach!"

"Don't worry! I'm fine, I don't need to eat right now. I'm not hungry!"

"And why is that?"

"Well... I can't exactly tell you that."

"Whynot?"

"It's a secret."

"You can trust me with secrets."

"Blake trusted you and Weiss with her secret, and you two went and told JNPR and CVFE!"

"Touche."

"Hey! We're not bad with secrets you know!" Nora objected.

"Uh huh..." Ruby uttered. "Anyways. Let's just finish things up here and get back to class."

Beacon Academy, 3:30 PM (In class, daylight warning), Thursday, Indoor Combat Arena

Today's the start of the qualification matchups. And first years are up first. Where as unlike the normal combat practice classes, these will take longer considering that entire teams or singular individuals will be partaking one at the time. It's not pretty clear. And one doesn't need to exactly win to participate, rather they have to show a minimum acceptable skill level to pass the tournament requirements. This also excuses the students partaking in tournament from classes in the time being. Of course, this is for Vale students, as the students from the other schools have passed their qualifiers back at semester 1 and are being taught at Beacon until the Festivals start.

The CRDL team members were one of the first teams Ruby recognized to go up first. They fought against 4 teams from second-rate and third-rate huntsman schools that were lucky to get here.

Ruby was just watching as she was waiting for her term to take on for the qualifier's. Mostly because the qualifiers are done by alphabetical order of team names. Which means Ruby's won't be available until after she's finished with her training mission.

Because by statistics... Friday would stop right around at JNPR.

Although watching the fights were interesting to watch though. Surprised to see that CRDL managed to pass the qualification. Which means she'll be participating right around on Tuesday.

After they finished with the Team names that started with "E". And Ruby was ready to change into her street clothes and head on out when the sun comes down.

Vale Outskirts, 8:00 PM, Thursday, Forever Fall

A forest north of the city. It's preserved for it's constantly beauty. That, and the fact that a forest can constantly remain in it's autumn stage is fascinating. Although the Tree Sap isn't edible, and can cause digestion problems. Because the sap is a common material for adhesive and weapon cleaning supplies. It's also used to hold armor together. Although not sure why huntsmen need armor, they have their aura! Well. Better safe than sorry. Ruby went here last semester to gather a batch of the tree sap. Although Nora found out the hard way to why nobody drinks the stuff. Jaune ended up fighting an Ursa-Major. Apparently there was also an SDC train-route that got hijacked around Forever Fall a year ago. Although Ruby would guess who was involved in it. Blake and her ex-companion. Who knew they keep records of security footage on train raids?

But Ruby was here with Blake. Because she thought no one would be here at the time. And any grimm around here they could take on. Especially Ruby. Although they don't wander near the forest and stay near the walls of the city.

Ruby lowered her bandana, but re-affirmed Blake that she wasn't planning on biting her without her consent. She just wants to... well not hide herself for a bit.

"Y'know it's still risky not covering your face up here. Even though it's just the two of us." Blake warned.

"I know. So, I picked a place no one would regularly travel to." Ruby responded.

"True, not many people would go to a grimm-infested forest at night. But aren't you worried that grimm would sneak up on us?"

"Blake. We're two trainee huntresses, we can handle a couple grimm. And even than, grimm aren't really interested in attacking vampires."

"Fair. If you aren't here to try and sneak a bite from me, then why are we here?"

"I just need some time to unwind and just be vulnerable for a bit. You know how it feels to endure the boredom and stress of an entire classroom?"

"No, I don't."

"Then you likely don't understand how much I just need time to cool down a bit. Normally I would have taken lunch time to meditate somewhere, but I chose to attend to keep up an appearance."

"Ruby, it's okay. You don't need to be pent up. Just let some of it out."

Ruby punched a tree, causing it to dent. She than inhales and exhales. "I really needed that." Ruby said.

"That's a lot of pent-up stress. Glad you got it out of your system." Blake said, looking at the dented tree.

"Thanks Blake. You know... the dance is coming up and I was wondering if you and I could... y'know... go together?" Ruby asked Blake.

"You're asking me out to the dance?" Blake asked.

"Ya... given that you've been a huge help to me since I came back to Beacon with my... condition... I was thinking we'd go together." Ruby smiled, showing her fangs.

"I thought we have a mission to go to the day after, should we be out training instead?" Blake asked.

"Come on, it'd be the one night everyone's going to be up and about. It'd be the one night I get to feel normal!"

"Well, I should think about it, it's just so... unexpected... and aren't you... clinically dead?"

"It doesn't have to be a romantic date; we could just go as friends. Well, unless you want it to be romantic and I am not stopping you there."

"Look. Look. We should prepare for the mission and get all the info we'll need!"

"Blake. I'm the vampire, I can do all that night-time stuff for you and you can get a good rest and have fun at the dance."

"Well, if you want me to go to the dance with you. Just promise me that you'll not slack off on that mission."

"I promise."

"Very well, I'll go the dance with you."

"Thank you, Blake! We're going to have so much fun! I'll be using the costume make up you gave me show off my full face on the night just for this!"

"What about your fangs?"

"I'll be careful not to open my mouth too large."

"Well, I'll be glad I'll be seeing all your cute face as it was."

"You called me cute."

"Cause you're cute."

"D'aww!"

"Well, I'll be heading back to Beacon, it's getting late for me. Good luck finding on finding more bloodpacks!"

"Thanks for the luck, Blake."

That was an interesting conversation to have. Blake went to go head back to Beacon. Ruby just stayed in the forest for a couple minutes longer to think for herself. After that thinking she put her bandanna back on and went into the city to stamp out some vampires and grab their bloodpacks. It's not entirely honest to steal one's food source, but it's better than going feral and killing people.

Author's Footnote: That's another chapter done. I had to go back and edit this a couple times and get rid of anything I found too stupid to add in. Along with grammatical errors, of course. Sure, I may have missed a couple. But nobody's perfect. There was some time skips because I didn't feel like writing filler in this chapter. I took this extra time so that you, the viewers may enjoy the chapter. Also, there's the often procrastination I do. So, ya. So... if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, criticisms, etc. Please leave them in the reviews. And without any further ado, see ya next chapter.
