Character Change: Ruby Rose - Blake Belladonna
Beacon Academy, 8:00 AM, Saturday, RWBY Dormitory
Blake woke up to find two things. 1: Ruby is asleep, and 2: The bird is gone. Well, that's a relief, it would leave a mess and cause a ruckus, waking everyone up. Why was that bird trying to get Blake's attention in the first place? From the looks of it, it was a tiny nevermore. Even has the grimm armor. Although it didn't attack anyone. So, chances are it was someone's pet and it flew back to it's owner. Well, good for the bird than.
She also notices that Yang's already up and using up the hot water. And that Weiss is sleeping in. Blake knows why Ruby is sleeping in, because she's allergic to daylight. So, Blake got out of bed and closed the curtains, so Ruby could sleep better.
And it looks like Lazy Weiss is back. That will quickly change tomorrow.
But it doesn't matter, Blake just got up, heated up some leftovers and waited for Yang to be done with the shower.
Ruby does look peaceful when she's asleep... wonder what she dreams about? Do vampires even have dreams? Well, it's likely.
The meal was something Ruby made for breakfast. She's been slacking on dinner ever since she became a vampire. Likely because Ruby herself doesn't feel hungry. And thus, no need to make dinner. Hopefully that would change soon. Ruby's an exceptional cook. Too bad she can't enjoy her own cooking.
After Blake finished eating, Yang hopped out of the shower. Although she was waiting for Blake to hop in to change to her clothes. Modesty is important after all. Beacon's water consumption is not really a matter, since like all modern plumbing, the water goes through extreme filtration. Ensuring that all bio-mass in the system is recycled and purged from the plumbing, allowing the water to be re-used. It's pretty simple, all source of power and energy is re-usable. Although there were some waste problems at the start of industrialization. The Dust managed to provide to be a quick substitute. Allowing a lot less, environmentally dangerous source of power.
Trash buildup is less of a problem too, because everything is in someway recycled. Even the food and vices... which is disgusting to think about. Although they don't put food someone has eaten and make into another meal for someone else which is disgusting. The bio-matter is processed into fertilizer for farms, which is in similar case to the bio-waste in plumbing in some kingdoms. If there were piles of trash somewhere, people would have used it as a wall to keep out the grimm. Which may actually work. Albeit the smell will be unbearable.
Blake got out of the shower and proceeded to get dressed. Weiss is just browsing on her scroll in bed.
"Weiss, get out of bed, you're gonna get sick staying in bed all day." Blake lectured.
"But I don't wanna get up." Weiss complained.
"Weiss. Just get up and out of bed. You can lounge on the couch. Just get up."
"Fiiiiine, mom!" Weiss retorted.
Weiss got up, but just went straight to the couch. She's a bit upset. But that's just normal for Weiss. She just turned on the TV and started to binge-watch twenty-year-old sitcoms. How does Blake know the age? Well, Blake glanced at it one time. Also, she can hear the laugh tracks. Of course, Weiss is laughing along with the laugh track.
Well, at least she's out of bed. Although her taste in television is disappointing.
Well, that's everyone out of bed, except for sleeping cutie. Blake decided to let Ruby sleep in for now. And since she doesn't have school in the morning, she can sleep in until the sun sets.
And than suddenly.
"We need to talk." Yang said, grabbing Blake somewhere.
Beacon Academy, 10:17 AM, Saturday, Random Classroom
This is a random classroom. Blake didn't have any time to comprehend which one Yang dragged her into. Since it's Saturday, class is not in session. Which is thankful, otherwise it'd be awkward and the two of them would be in serious trouble for interrupting class.
Yang sat Blake down on the desk of the chair, and sat besides her. Although she doesn't look like she's pleased to see Blake. Likely here to talk about something relating to Ruby. Whether it be her sudden change of activity, or about being her date in the dance.
"Look, I understand that Ruby was the one who asked you out. But I'm her sister, I have my right to be worried." Yang said.
"Don't worry, I swear I won't go under the skirt." Blake responded.
"That's good to hear, but that's not why I called you here."
"Oh, what is it?"
"Lately, Ruby's been acting... well... out of the ordinary. And this has been going on for over a week. So, I'm asking this. Did Ruby join any group of people that hang around at night? Or is there something the two of you aren't tell me?"
"What makes you get that idea?"
"Well, for one. Ren confronted me about Ruby's semblance this morning. Said her rose petals were wilted."
"Oh... well, that's news to me." Blake lied.
"I have a feeling you've known that. But something happened when Ruby ordered my contacts." Yang slammed her fist on the desk. Expressing her intense worry and anger.
"Yang, I think you're just overreacting."
"I'm not overreacting. Something has happened to my little sister. Semblances don't just suddenly change for no reason! To top it all off, I've noticed you've two have been spending an increased amount of time together."
"We're teammates, we hang out?"
"Well clearly she favors you than. Since she hasn't been doing anything during daylight hours. I've asked around the week before the semester started and between the timeframe of Wednesday and Saturday, no one saw Ruby anywhere in daylight hours. And from the amount of time, you two have been spending, it's clear that you know something about Ruby and the rest of the team is in the dark."
"Maybe she doesn't want you to know."
"And why is that?"
"Well, I can't tell you."
"Why not?"
"Because I promised Ruby, I wouldn't tell you or Weiss anything related to it."
"Well, I respect that you're keeping your promise to Ruby. But I'm just worried that Ruby's joined some dark and evil cult exploiting her."
"Hey, if Ruby was in some sort of cult? Do you think she'd still be here?"
"Well. It would not be in the first time Ruby was dragged into a bad crowd."
"What do you mean?"
"It's a long story."
Character Change: Blake Belladonna - Yang Xiao Long (Age 11)
Island of Patch, 6 years ago, Town of Patch
'Ruby and I grew up on Patch, an island across the Vale coast. It has farms, a small town (by the same name), and a series of suburbs. The region is very rural. So not many houses are built adjacent to one another. And due to the size of the roads, automobiles aren't really used. It's pretty beautifal, plenty of forests, and surprisingly not many grimm. So, huntsmen and huntresses are rarely stationed there. Save for my father. Where most of his missions are to patrol the island. He picks these because he could spend more time with Ruby and I.'
Well, six years ago. Back than I was eleven. So, I had worn a mid-length-skirt, with a button-up shirt with another shirt under it. Along with black loafer shoes and knee-long socks. I also had a pony-tail, big glasses and braces. Ya, I looked like a total dork. Sounded like one too.'
"You had a lisp, right?"
'yes, but I hadn't had my speech therapy yet. But that's not the point. Here I was, looking like a dork. Also had a training sword at the time. This was before Ruby had made me Ember Celicia. Typically, most students in Vale are skilled in weapon-crafted. As for me, well, I'm better at breaking them than building them. I'm much better at fighting than anything requires anything that needs me to build or make anything. So incase my training sword had broken, I'd use my fists.'
'Ruby at the time, she was nine. She alternated between wearing a simple casual child's dress and a T-shirt and jeans. Still the same pair of red velcro sneakers she wore. Too bad they don't fit her anymore. She was a bit more naïve at the time, believed that everyone was inherently good. Mostly because Patch is a very low-crime town. Almost no crime happens there. Typically, because patch is mostly rural farms, a small town with no dust shops. There's essentially nothing people would steal... except food. But than there's Ruby spending her allowance to feed those people.'
"Aww, that's very generous."
'Shush! Don't interrupt me!'
The younger Yang was coming home from school. Although she is at times bullied for her nerdy look, by now she got used to it. That, and she found a new group of friends and some interests. Superheroes who fight supervillians. Much similar to huntsmen, they have their own super-powers. Masked vigilantes that stop crime under their own terms. Commonly met with masked criminals with super-powers on their own. It's a pretty realistic-esque fiction.
She was looking around for a comic book to buy with her allowance. And than she sees Ruby here giving some of her money to a bunch of well-dressed men. And than seeing her wave back at them. Yang went to confront her younger half-sister.
"Ruby, what are you doing?" Yang asked.
"Oh, hey Yang! Some guys said they were a bit short on cash, so I gave them some of my allowance!" Ruby responded.
"Don't they theem... a bit well drethed for thomeone down on their luck?"
"ya, but I think they're good people. They said they're tourists from mistral. So, they must have left some lien at home."
"Well okay than, thust don't go giving away all your allowanth."
"I try to Yang, but I feel like those people need the money more than I do."
"Leth thutht go home."
"Ya, I suppose. Guess I'll be heading back here tomorrow."
'Ruby gave a portion of her allowance to some well-dressed tourists, well believing their intentions were pure. Well, I only said be careful next time. Although at the time I didn't know they'd come back the next day.'
Island of Patch, 6 years ago, Xiao-Long-Rose Residence
The next day... well... Night. Ruby went home a bit late, her father was worried about Ruby's whereabouts, so was Yang. Ruby's usually home at weekends by dinner time. This day was not the case. She spent an extraordinarily long time at the town. Although her father was waiting for an explanation.
"You missed dinner." said Yang's dad.
"sorry, I was just helping someone." Ruby said.
"Well, what did they need doing?"
"They said they lost something in a small hole so I went down there and picked up the thing they were missing."
"What took so long than?"
"It was a deep hole, and they wanted a lot of stuff."
"What did they look like?"
"They wore fancy suits. And I think they were from mistral."
"Wait, were they the thame people you gafe money to yethterday?" Yang asked.
"Yep." Ruby answered.
"Ruby, don't you think they're... using you for anything?" Ruby and Yang's dad asked.
"Use me for what? Clearly they were just clumsy and good people."
"Well, alright. Just don't break the law or anything."
"Yes dad."
Ruby and Yang went to bed after they brushed their teeth. Although Yang took a bit longer because she felt like her sister was being manipulated by less than good intentioned people. Although they don't know what they could be doing. So, she wanted to find out who they were exactly.
'The following night, Ruby came home late and dad was not in a good mood. Although she was let off with a warning. I thought that something was wrong about the people Ruby was helping. So, I went and followed her after school. Whenever she came back from school, the same group of people ask her for help, all the tasks they were doing involved retrieving lost property and going through small holes only a child would fit. I felt like she was being used by these people.'
Next Saturday, Ruby was found scavenging between her father's stuff. And oh boy did her and Yang's father not look happy. Yang was honestly worried that she was being used. Since all the favors that Ruby has been for was for possessive items. Yang just didn't say anything when her father yelled at her half-sister.
"Ruby, what were doing going through my stuff!?" their father demanded.
"Those people said they needed to borrow something from you." Ruby answered.
"What were they looking for specifically?"
"They said it was a tiara or something."
"did it just happen they were the same people from last week?"
"Yes."
"I think I need to go have a word with them, they've been causing havoc here for the whole week?"
"Who?"
"They're bad people. Ruby, I know it's hard for you to understand, but you've been helping bad people."
"What? They're bad people?" Ruby said, as she was about to burst into tears.
"Yes, and you were helping them." her father responded.
"I'm not a bad person!" She said with tears coming out of her eyes.
"Look, we're going to talk with them. Yang you're coming with too."
"What? Why?" Yang asked.
"I can't leave you alone. And you need to learn this too." Yang's father answered.
"Fine."
'Turns out, those people they were helping, belonged to the most powerful crime family in mistral. The Moon Dragon Yakuza. I didn't know it than, but I knew those people Ruby were helping were bad people. Ruby was upset when she found out when she was helping bad people. Since it kind of... broke her world. And since she was young, she was crying. And it was loud. We had to walk all the way to where the Yakuza was hosting their operations in patch. Apparently Ruby was helping them steal empty boxes, which let them smuggle weapons into the island.'
Island of Patch, 6 years ago, Town of Patch
Yang, Ruby, and her father had arrived in a karaoke bar. Where the people Ruby was helping stationed themselves in. Yang at the time had her hand ready to draw her sword. Although Ruby was unarmed because she's to have a leaner's permit on weapons.
There were nine of them. Although most of them looked the same... one stood out. He was bald. His suit was black and green, as opposed to the rest of them, who were only wearing black suits. In addition, he's the only one wearing a tie. All of them of course had a green/black dragon pattern etched on the front of their suit jackets. It was small, like a polo logo. Although her father was not happy to see him. It was like he knew this man personally. Despite this, the man remains to appear in a good mood.
"Ah, the father of this generous little girl has shown up. How have you been?" The man asked.
"I don't want you exploiting my daughters for your personal gain!" He yelled at him.
"That's not how you greet an old friend now, is it?"
"We're not friends, Beulleodeu. We never were! Now leave Patch, leave Vale. And don't come back."
"Well, we'll leave when we get what we came here for."
"Forget it, you know they'll not let you leave Vale with that."
"So be it."
"Yang, Ruby, get back."
Yang and Ruby went and hid under the bar-table. Although Yang peeked in to watch the fight. Ruby was just going through a morality crisis and couldn't comprehend anything coherently.
The man called 'Beulleodeu', didn't bring a weapon with him. Although he was no slouch. Yang's father was putting on his gauntlets. They completely covered his hands and forearm. With a much more hardened metal at the knuckles. His weapon: 'Brutal Companion' are gauntlets that focus on punches. They also had kinetically powered short spread and short-ranged shotgun rounds. His fighting-style puts him at Short to point-blank range when it comes to fighting.
Of course, he had to fight them nine-to-one. He managed to take down the thugs and mooks easily with a couple punchs and counter throws. But it's the head-honcho he had trouble with. The gunshots didn't seem to flinch him and he keeps up with her father's punches. And something about him seemed a bit off, his punches and kicks seem a bit too powerful for someone unarmed. It's as if they were enhanced. Eventually the two managed to break even for a bit until Taiyang ended up on the losing bout. Things didn't look like they were about to end on a happy note.
"Well, it seems I win. Don't worry, I'll take care of your kids." The man said mockingly.
"Not happening." Taiyang responded with confidence.
And just like that he put his forefingers in his mouth and whistled. A stray dog. A Corgi with grey fur had come to assist their father in battle, by biting the leg of the man. Putting him off of balance, where the father followed by kicking the other leg, knocking him off the floor. Where as Yang's father got up and put his foot on the beulleodeu's chest, in victory.
"I'll ask you again, leave." Taiyang said.
"Not fair." Beulleodeu responded.
"There's no rules against using semblances. Nor what you were using."
"You will live to regret this."
"As if. I'll be having you and your friends deported back to Mistral. I'd kill you where you are, but I'm a better man now."
"The old Dragon softened up than?"
"Not softened, just learned now you're coming with me."
After Ruby stopped hearing fighting, she peeked her head out and saw the dog and the reaction was pretty well... adorable. She loved the dog.
"Puppy!" the young Ruby said, as she ran toward the dog and went to pet it. "Can we keep it?"
"I don't know, weren't you the one who was helping a bunch of bad guys?" her father asked.
"Pleease! I'll be good! I'll be more careful when helping people!"
"Are you sure?"
"Alright, we can keep the dog. But you're still being punished for helping those bad guys."
"I understand." she said in a grim tone.
"Tho, what are you going to call him?" Yang asked Ruby.
"I'll think of a name." Ruby answered.
'Dad and the Yakuza Patriarch ended up fighting. Whilst me and Ruby were hiding behind a counter trying not to get hurt. At first, it looked like dad was about to lose and the two of us were going to be taken away from our homes. But than dad used his semblance on him. His semblance allows him to call any non-grimm, non-sentient animal to aid him in anything he needs. In most cases, it's fighting. This was also the day we met our pet dog Zwei, who bit the leg of the guy Dad was fighting and allowing him to win the fight. The Yakuza were deported back to Mistral, and we haven't heard from them since. Since than there was almost little to no crime in Patch. Although Ruby was grounded for a month for being gullible. But I told her to not give money to anyone who's not behind a cash register. It's advice she took to heart.'
'Ruby just by being helpful to the wrong group almost ended our happy lives in patch and ended up being the playthings of a crime family. It was only due to having a coincidental semblance that stopped us from that. I don't want Ruby ending up helping a bad group just like them.'
Character Change: Yang Xiao-Long (Age 11) - Blake Belladonna
Beacon Academy, 10:22 AM, Saturday, Random Classroom
"So, I will ask you again. What happened to Ruby?" Yang asked Blake.
"You can go ask her when she wakes up." Blake avoided the question.
"And when is that?"
"At least 3:00 PM."
"And why is that?"
"If I told you, I would be violating my promise to Ruby."
"I told you why I don't believe you. It's just that Ruby's acting a bit suspicious."
"In what way?"
"She's sleeping during the day, up at night. She hasn't been eating."
"Although I'd understand why you'd think that, but she has been eating... just at a different time."
"So, she's been eating out?"
"You could say that, but she's been doing it by herself, not even I know what she does than."
"Well, it sounds weird, but at least her grades aren't suffering."
"See, there's nothing wrong with Ruby, she's just... different. I just really can't tell you how."
"Very well, But I will still be confronting Ruby on this."
"I understand. Just promise not to freak out."
"Odd request, but I understand."
Sorry Ruby.
The two of them got out of the classroom, although Yang told an interesting story, she just hopes that Ruby can nudge her way out of fessing up her vampirism. Last thing Ruby needs is to have more people try and keep a secret.
Character Change: Blake Belladonna - Jaune Arc
City of Vale, 11:00 AM, Saturday, Central Park
The decorations in the central park have been set up. Doilies and smoke machines. Jaune couldn't decide which one to have. So, he had both. Sadly, he had to spend the rest of the budget having to replace the rest of the decorations. And he wanted to keep the punch bowl, so he decided to cancel the DJ. Which means he has to go find a friend who can DJ instead. Or he has to go find a playlist and shuffle it. Well, Weiss said the decorations were kind of garbage being that there were too many colors and... he had to replace them with a simple white and blue. Although Nora was a bit sad that the decorations now look a bit bland. But at least Weiss would like them.
Well, Jaune's just glad he got Weiss to go out with him though, albeit as acquaintances. But hey, maybe he'll melt that frozen heart of hers. Although not overnight, of course. Much unlike whatever it is Ruby is going through. Although he will not discuss it with Ruby because it may be sensitive subject. Although Ren did tell her sister, which he understands. Ruby's team should be informed of any changes of semblance of her team. Maybe they can help Ruby get over whatever she's going through.
But he's just here to finish up the last of the decorations, and find two playlists on his scroll to browse through. One for slow dance, other for fast dance. He just picked a classical music playlist and a pop playlist. Popular music is popular, so everyone except hipsters should like it, right?
"I think the dance is going to be great." Jaune said.
"Too bad about the decorations, I kind of liked them." Nora remarked.
"Nora. You have a bad sense of environmental taste." Ren commented.
"No, I don't!"
"Too many colors, looks like vomit, it resembled a casino floor layout."
"Oh ya, fair point."
"Wait, you two have been to a casino?" Jaune asked.
"Yes. Ren and I were working in one to make some lien to buy weapons." Nora answered.
"Growing up was kind of hard for us." Ren said.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories." Jaune said.
"Oh, it was nothing. We weren't in the casino grounds, it was more so in the storage sorting boxes." Nora said.
"Oh."
"What did you think we did in the casino?"
"I honestly wasn't sure."
"Well, don't worry about it."
"Alright, I won't."
With that out of the Way, Jaune has officially finished the decorations. Now with time to spare... he has to do chores for the teachers and staff... wonderful.
Character Change: Jaune Arc - Ruby Rose
Beacon Academy, 6:04 PM, Saturday, RWBY Dormitory
Ruby just woke up. Apparently, everyone else is up as well. Guess that means she woke up around past noon. And it looks like someone closed the curtains. Well, Ruby is thankful for whoever did that. She does not like the sun.
She went on to take a shower, she prefers cold showers now. She doesn't question it. It's just something she prefers now. She spends time cleaning herself in the shower. It's the weekend, she can spend as much time in there as she wants.
I wonder if I should use Blake's shampoo, it does smell ni- AH SOAP IN MY EYES!
Ruby closed her eyes and washed her face in the cold shower to get the soap out. Thankfully, since she's a vampire, she doesn't have to worry about any soap-poisoning. But she still feels the pain. Eye-soap or not, she eventually finished showering. And went to dry off and put her bandana back on.
She went and got clothes to put on in somewhere private. Sure, she's the only one in the room, but she doesn't want to take unnecessary risks. After her street clothes were on, she went out of the bedroom. Only to find Yang. She does not look happy.
"Ruby, what are you hiding?" Yang interrogated.
"Excuse me?" Ruby asked.
"Lately you've been acting... weird."
"Explain."
"You've been asleep at day, as far as I know you're up at night, and have been eating out. You always cover your face."
"I've done all of that for like over a week, and you're calling me out on it now?"
"So, you admit it? You've been eating out."
"Yes, I've been eating out."
"Why are you eating out? Surely, you can make better food."
"Well sometimes I don't always want to cook."
"True, if cooking was your aspiration, you would have gone to cooking school, not combat school."
"Ya, sometimes I just want to relax."
"So why haven't you invited the rest of your team? And how come you don't spend any money? Are you dining and dashing?"
"No no, it's nothing like that, I don't eat out an eatery."
"So where are you eating?"
"uhhh... I... really... can't answer that."
"Why not?"
"Can you two take it to the bedroom? I'm trying to watch my show!" Weiss complained.
"Shut up Weiss, that show is older than you." Yang retorted.
"It's older than you too, so you shush and take it elsewhere!"
The two of them went to go to the bedroom. Although not that way, they're sisters. Why would anyone would want them to go the bedroom in THAT way?
"It's not something you'd understand" Ruby said.
"Ruby, you're fifteen. Anything you're going through; I should be able to relate to." Yang reconciled.
"Yang, when you were my age, you were wearing plastic hor-" Ruby was saying before Yang put her finger on where Ruby's lips would be under the bandana.
"Shush." Yang uttered
"Ya'see. We all have our secrets. And If you find out and tell everyone my secret... I'll tell them yours." Ruby taunted.
"You wouldn't." Yang eyes flip red with anger.
"I already told Blake." Ruby taunted further.
"You monster!"
"In all fairness, she knows my secret. But she promised not to tell anyone."
"Funny, she may have slipped up in some things." Yang taunted back.
"Like what?" Ruby asked sacredly.
"Well, I know about your semblance."
"She told you about that!?"
"No, that was Ren."
"Ren?"
"Ya, it was out of nowhere too."
"I don't know how he would know either."
"Ren said Jaune found some petals one night in the outdoor training yard."
"Ya, I was coming up with a new fighting technique. Evasive and avoid taking aura damage."
"That's pretty clever, you typically charge in with no consequence."
"Guess I figured I'd learn from my mistakes."
"Well, that's true. Guess I was a bit paranoid about you. Although why do you stay up at night and sleep at day on non-school days? It's like you're a..."
Oh no.
From all the things Ruby told Yang, and from all the obvious changes in Ruby's habits. Ruby should have known it would have been long before Yang figured out that she was a...
"Night Owl! Oh my gosh! I had a friend who was a night owl, he woke up at around 1PM and goes to sleep at 5 AM. It's pretty weird. But it's not something you can choose to be." Yang said, coming to a conclusion.
"Ya... I'm a Night Owl." Ruby said, going along with it.
Phew.
"Well, I'd offer to brew coffee for you in daylight hours, but one you always end up in the cafeteria when I wake up-" Yang said, before being interrupted.
"And two, you'd burn the entire dorm down. Don't worry, I'll teach you to cook one day, but it'd have to be outside, at night." Ruby lectured.
"Yes, I understand. The night is where your mind is most focused."
"Yep. That it does."
"So that means you will certainly have a fun time at the dance tomorrow!"
"Yep."
"Speaking of the Dance, mind if I borrow Blake for a bit? I need to buy a suit for Sun. Dancing with someone wearing casual clothing in a formal clothing dance would not be appeasing."
"Okay, just make sure you bring her back before the dance starts."
"Alright. It's only going be shopping for clothes. And besides, not many clothing stores are open at night."
"Ya, true. But the ones that are, are either super-expensive or the super-cheap!"
"Which is incredibly weird."
The two of them ended up talking about obscure topics for the next couple of minutes. Ruby's just glad Yang just ignored the rose petals. But it's glad that she's having a casual conversation with her older sister, just like old times... minus the lisp. Although like any sibling relation it isn't all sunshine and rainbows, there were some bumpy roads. But Ruby doesn't want to think of that. She just wants to have her rose-tinted nostalgia for now. And than she sees Blake walking into the room.
"Oh, hey Kitty-cat." Ruby said to Blake.
"Please don't call me kitty-cat." Blake stated.
"Gotchia. So ya, turns out Yang's all cool with me being a night-owl."
"I don't understand all the panic you two had, you were acting like Ruby was secretly the nostferatu or something." Yang said, jokingly.
Ruby and Blake awkwardly laughed. Yang just regularly laughed. Good thing Blake got the hint and decided to go along with the Night-Owl thing. Thank goodness Yang didn't jump to vampire at first. Sure, she's a nerd. But she's more down-to-remnant than most nerds her degree. So, she wouldn't just jump to the conclusion of vampire much unlike... Nora... wait, Ren told Yang about the Rose petals, and Jaune said he found the rose petals. Which means either A: JNPR figured out Ruby's a vampire and is waiting on finding evidence of it, or B: They're just concerned for Ruby's mental and physical health. Hopefully it's the latter, but either way, Ruby has to be extra-careful about hiding her vampirism.
But she has a whole night to have fun to herself. May as well make use to it.
"Well, I'll be heading out. I'll be back before midnight!" Ruby said.
"Have fun, don't get hurt." Blake said.
And just like that. Ruby head out. She exited beacon by doing a backwards leap toward the launching cliff, and turning into a bird. Like a badass.
City of Vale, 7:40 PM, Saturday, Industrial District
Ruby hasn't had a drink tonight yet. So, she figured she'd spoil herself with a White-Fang grunt. Sure, it goes against 'being careful with vampirism', but Ruby's a bit thirsty. And she doesn't want to knock out a vampire for a bloodpack. So, she's just waiting for a white fang mook to be by himself. Ruby's wondering in human form because why not. She can take a couple of White Fang mooks.
She's usually following the basic ones. The low-ranking mooks. The ones no one usually notice are gone. Although she doesn't plan on killing them, she doesn't intend to go feral anytime soon... or anymore. Because she likes it if the grimm doesn't take control for emergency situations and end up killing people. She follows him into an alleyway. Which is perfect. Although Fanaus have night-vision along with Ruby due to her vampirism. So, they are harder to sneak up on, yet again she's pounced on vampires. So, it may be easier.
Ruby of course, activates her grimm claws because she wants to conceal her arms from the white fang mook. She picked a white fang mook to feed on because they are already bad, and Ruby would feel guilty feeding on someone sentient. But she would feel less guilty on feeding White Fang, besides she feels like she deserves a treat.
She lowers her bandana, then waits until the mook lets their guard down... aaaand... She pounces on the mook, using her claws to keep in place while she bites their neck. She knows the perfect time for to let go, and than after she releases from the biting, she knocks them out. Along with covering up the bite marks, making it look like they were having a nightmare. After all, don't want the White Fang to plan an ambush on Ruby when she does this again.
The taste of blood straight from the vein is refreshing, although she does prefer Blake's. The mood swings from these two weeks hit her like a truck. But the dance is going to be a thrill for this 'Night-Owl'. Well, that's going to be what people are going to call her. Better than being labeled as a monster. But it's time to head back home. She feels like walking back. Sure, it's not as quick, but it's fun to not be 'full-vampire' mode sometimes.
Heck, maybe she should pick up some urban climbing. Urban climbing is a skill Blake is good at, perhaps she'll like it if Ruby picked up the same skill. Ruby went onto a building and went to climb onto a grab and went climbing onto the building. She went to grab another holding. She grabbed holding onto holding. Sure, it's not comfortable, but it's climbing she has to find something to hold onto. She eventually reached the rooftop. And went onto do some parkour.
City of Vale, 8:00 PM, Saturday, Downtown
Running on rooftops, jumping great lengths, all without Crescent Rose. Which she has with her incase she enters a situation that requires her to fight. But she doesn't want to use her when doing parkour, she just wants to run on buildings and get that adrenaline high.
The rush, the excitement, the feeling... it's something Ruby hasn't felt in awhile... feeling... alive. Funny thing, feeling this alive while being dead. Ruby screams in excitement as she's climbing the rooftops. She's full of excitement and adrenaline, and since she can't feel tired, she could do this all night.
Author's Footnote: So, that's this chapter, I got ya, didn't I? I decided to be a little creative with the next flashback, and instead make it a backstory. Figured I'd find a way to put the in-team paranoia out of the way. It was a bit tough trying to play it on without revealing Ruby's vampirism, but I managed to write around that wall. Did you enjoy the chapter? I hope you did. If you have any questions, comments, criticisms, suggestions, etc. Please leave them in the reviews. So, see ya next chapter.
