Beacon Academy, 7:30 PM, Sunday, RWBY Dormitory
Ruby just got out of shower, and put on a new bandanna. After she got through her adrenaline rush and buy a couple more bandanas. Because she can't always just wear the one. That'd be gross. Which she did for the past week, and only washed it once. She so far has only a strapless bra and underwear on. And a towel over that. Along with the bandana, it's the night of the dance after all, so she needs to put her dress on. Of course, she just had four blood packs. The dance doesn't start until 9:00 PM, and travelling by bullhead to the central park would take 30 minutes. And it's a five-minute walk. Along with the long walk to the Bullhead. So, she has to get ready by 8:00 PM.
Fully fed, and clean. She may as well get dressed now. Thankfully she's got a new dress to put on. It's knee length, sleeveless. The main color is red-violet, and the skirt of the dress is black. She bought this a week ago with Weiss' business card. She may have gotten over Weiss' allowance a couple of times. She than goes to the bathroom to put on costume makeup to conceal the color of the veins around her lips. Although paler, she looks just like she was before she was turned. She won't be wearing a bandana or a formal face mask. She promised Blake to wear the costume makeup, and she'll wear it. After finishing up with the makeup in the bathroom, she went on to put on the flats.
She stepped out the bedroom. And saw Blake waiting for her. She's wearing a black dress, although some parts of the dress are a dark shade of indigo. She's also wearing heels of course. Both her and Ruby are wearing a dark grey set of stockings.
"You look adorable." Blake said, with a cheerful tone.
Ruby would be blushing if not for her vampirism... "ah... Uh... thank you." She uttered.
"Let me guess, you're blushing."
"Yep. Is it that obvious?"
"Sure, your face can't turn red anymore due to your... condition... But the facial expressions, dead giveaway."
"Glad that hasn't changed."
"It's kind of cute actually. Although at the same time... it's weird..."
"Is it the vampire part?"
"Yep."
"Figures. Well, you are going to the dance with a dead girl."
"Clinically dead, Ruby. You may be physically dead, but you still feel pretty alive."
"D'aw thanks. I actually really needed to hear that." She said, relieved. "On another topic, how was tuxedo shopping with Yang?"
"Well, it took a while. But I managed to pick out something that Yang would love to see Sun wear." Blake answered with a smile on her face.
"Did you make sure Yang liked it?" Ruby responded.
"Yep, don't worry, got something that Yang liked Sun to wear." Blake joked.
Ruby and Blake headed outside to enter a bullhead. They weren't holding hands yet, Ruby said it's best to wait at the dance. After all, it's going to be the night Ruby can feel normal, especially since she just downed blood packs until she was sated. And with the costume makeup, she would feel like she's a living person for one night. Minus the body heat and the heartbeat, but at that point, she barely notices. So, it's just one night of her, at a party, having fun with friends. Although she can't smile too big. No bandana means her fangs would be revealed.
City of Vale, 8:45 PM, Sunday, Central Park
The central park landing pad is far from the observatory, in fact... it's on the other side of the park. But a nice view before going to a nice party is always nice. The pathway to the observatory is made of stone, but the same kind as sidewalks so it won't damage the shoes.
"Y'know Blake, the night sky is pretty... but you're also pretty." Ruby attempted to flirt with Blake.
Blake just giggled. "Ruby, you're just so adorable." She responded.
"Thanks, I couldn't find the words at the moment so I just..."
"... Improvised?"
"Yes! That!"
The two of them continued to walk down. Eventually they got to the observatory, Ruby checked her scroll and saw that it was 8:59 PM. So, she showed up 1 minute early. And what a surprise. Yang is here, and her date sun... who was wearing a Tuxedo... with shorts. Well, atleast Yang likes it, Ruby just think it looks silly.
"Shorts?" Ruby asked in a confused tone.
"Don't look at me, I'm not the one who picked the suit. Which feels very uncomfortable to wear." Sun said.
"I'm not going to a dance with without my date dressed up all formal." Yang scolded at Sun. "Besides, Blake picked out the tux, not me."
"Come on Yang, you were drooling when you were imagining Sun wearing that when I picked it out." Blake said.
"I don't understand." Ruby said confusingly.
"You'll understand when you're older, Rubes." Yang stated.
"She'll figure it out eventually." Sun said, jokingly. And than Yang slapped him.
"Ow!" Sun uttered.
"No Ruby-themed adult Jokes until she's at least seventeen." Yang lectured.
"That's around two years away anyway." Blake said.
"This rule especially applies to Blake." Yang's eyes weren't red but she's mildly angry.
"Yang, it's alright, we're here trying to have fun." Ruby said. "Besides, we have a dance to attend."
"Oh, you're right. Come on, let's head to the dance." Yang said. Sun went and wrapped his right arm around Yang's left, doing that formal arm thingy, and headed in. Although he doesn't look comfortable in the tuxedo.
Ruby went to do the same thing with Blake. She and Blake walked into the door of the observatory, only to be greeted by Pyrrha, whose greeter for the people arriving. The decorations have most definitely improved... are those... doilies and fog machines? Guess that's why the music is coming from Jaune's scroll. Which would be awkward for him to leave Weiss for a bit to change the music to the fast dance pace, and than back to slow.
"Welcome. Ruby and Blake. I see you two are together." Pyrrha greeted Ruby and Blake.
"Unofficially, we haven't announced anything, but Ruby did ask me out." Blake responded to Pyrrha.
Ruby just remained silent and nodded.
"And I see that Ruby's not covering her face. What's the occasion?" Pyrrha asked.
"It's a formal event, I don't think a bandana would fit the dress code." Ruby stated.
"And besides, I wanted to see her smile tonight." Blake said.
"Oh, well aren't you two going to be a cute couple." Pyrrha teased.
"Well, if you excuse us." Blake said. Her and Ruby (who is leading) went to the dance floor.
At the dance floor, the two of them were slow-dancing. Ruby was leading, Blake was following. Because it's slow-dancing classical music. While dancing with Blake, she sees Weiss who appears to be embarrased. And Jaune...
Is that... Jaune? Wearing a Dress?
Either one of the bloodpacks she drank was expired, or Jaune is actually wearing a dress, and is dancing with Weiss. Yet again, Weiss' cooking never brought hallucinations, only a trip to the nurse and a stomach pumping. So ya... Jaune is wearing a dress, and Ruby was trying to conceal her laughter, because if she laughs, she could risk showing off her fangs.
"What's so funny?" Blake asked.
Ruby pointed to wear she was looking at.
Blake went and turned her head... facing Weiss and Jaune. And then she just bursted in laughter. Ruby meanwhile was trying to keep it at giggles, so she doesn't open her mouth too much.
"You guys really aren't making this better for me." Weiss complained.
"Sorry Weiss, but your date is wearing a dress." Blake said, while laughing.
"So is yours."
"The difference is that Ruby looks pretty in a dress, Jaune looks silly in one."
"Say... why are you wearing a dress anyway?"
"Pyrrha didn't get a date to the dance, and I said that I'd wear a dress if she doesn't have a date." Jaune said.
"Huh, well you didn't have be literal." Weiss complained.
"Hey, an Arc never goes back on his word." Jaune stated.
No one asked Pyrrha out? Well, that's pretty sad. But she seems alright.
Seeing Jaune in a dress did lighten up Ruby's mood. However, she had to try and hold back her laughter, she doesn't want to risk people seeing her vampire fangs. Although she's glad that she doesn't have to fully hide her face. Blake seems happy to see it too. She's really good at dancing, Ruby didn't forget her dancing lessons when she was younger though. Although she wasn't leading when she was learning, but she managed to get a hold on it.
Ruby and Blake continued dancing within the rhythm with the music, which is pretty quiet because there's no speakers... but other than that, it's pretty good. Ruby had let go of Blake's hands and place Ruby's hands onto Blake's hips. Blake noticed and followed, placing her hands onto Ruby's hips. The dancing has less movement and is more intimate. Yang is likely on the other side of the dancefloor, closer to the music. So, she wouldn't notice Ruby and Blake being more intimate. They're not kissing though, but they are close. Blake feels warm to Ruby. Mostly because Ruby is room temperature and Blake's like 97 degrees or somewhere between there. And chances are Ruby feels cold to Blake, literally not figuratively.
No words, only dancing and actions. They speak louder than any words that would be spoken right now. Well, until...
"Hey, Ruby..." Blake stated.
"Is there... a problem?" Ruby asked.
"Well... I think we need to discuss this upstairs."
"Well... okay than."
The two of them went upstairs to the observatory balcony. They can see the entire park from here, and with a small telescope, they could see the stars if they wish to. But something tells Ruby that Blake didn't bring her up for sightseeing.
The two of them had a seat at one of the outdoor benches in the balcony. Blake looked toward Ruby, making direct eye contact.
"So... now do you want me to tell me what's wrong?" Ruby asked.
"No, nothing's wrong. I just want to talk about your vampirism where no one could hear us." Blake confessed.
"That's a fair point. What do want to talk about."
"Well, that's the thing. I don't really know how I feel."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... Ruby, you're taking this whole change of yours very well."
"I have you to thank for that. To be honest, I doubt I'd be around in Beacon for very long without someone to feed on. Save for our temporary break."
"Well, that's good to hear. I still pretty bad about having to stop feeding for a week. But I understand why it has to be done. You went over and kind of messed up my system."
"Ya, sorry for that."
"No, no. Don't be. You were more thirsty than when you were feeding me all those other times."
"That's true. I just felt bad hurting you like that. I really don't want to be responsible for anything bad happening to you."
"Thanks Ruby. But there's something I'm curious about."
"Ask away."
"Do you think you could... well... age?"
"Age? Blake, I don't think I could age. Well unless I could learn to harness my untapped magic."
"Wait, did you say... magic?"
"Ya... apparently I have magic. Comes with the vampirism."
"Do you know any spells?"
"Well... I could transform into a bird... but that's honestly it."
"Wait... a second... you were the bird that got my attention on Friday night, weren't you?"
"Yep. Sorry for not transforming into a human immediately. I didn't want to revert my shape when people were around."
"To be honest, I'm actually relieved that it was just you in bird form hitting on me and not some random bird."
"Well... sorry for keeping in the dark about that."
"It's alright. You were being cautious. Although I did wish you gave me some sort of hint that it was you."
"I'll be doing that next time, but only for you, my love." Ruby flirted.
"Well, you're getting better with the flirting." Blake criticized constructively.
"Thank you."
"I'm just glad this little wilted rose has got some spirit."
"Can I ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"Could you lower your neck for me?" Ruby asked in a suggestive tone.
"Okay? You're not going to bite me, are you? It's still been less than a week." Blake stated, as she got up. And lowered her neck in the position where Ruby would be normally biting it.
Ruby, instead of going after her neck. Closed her eyes and went for her lips, she went and kissed her lips, pushing her tongue into Blake's mouth. Blake did not struggle although she did not aim for doing the same. Her mouth tasted like fish. She grabbed Blake with her arms, and went to hug her as she was kissing Blake. Ten seconds later and Blake gave in and pushed her tongue in Ruby's mouth. The genuine feeling of her tongue... and her lips smacking with Ruby's... it's well... enjoyable. After awhile Blake let go and Ruby ended up licking her tongue on the air until she opened her eyes.
Blake giggled at the sight of Ruby licking the air. "It was not a bad kiss, although the fangs tend to get in the way." She spoke.
"Thank you, I really didn't have any practice." Ruby said.
"Wait, that's your first kiss?"
"Yep. You're my first."
"I'm flattered. Not sure how the rest of our team would think about... us."
"So... we're officially dating now?"
"Do you want it to be official?"
"Blake, I kissed you. Does that answer the question for you? You're my first kiss. Of course, I want you to be my girlfriend. What about you?"
"Well... just promise me this one thing." Blake requested.
"Anything." Ruby responded.
"Don't become like Adam, no matter what happens."
"I promise."
Blake smiled. "Well, we have a dance to go back to, let's go back now, shall we?" She offered.
"Indeed, don't want to miss out on anything fun." Ruby responded.
The two of them went back downstairs, while holding their hands. And when they arrived on the dance floor, they went back to dancing.
The party is going well, everyone seems to have an alright time. The only complaint is that the music was too quiet. But other than the quiet music, it's a pretty good party. JNPR did an alright job. It's honestly the one night where Ruby feels well... normal. Being that everyone is up at night, and not sleeping. Along with the costume makeup. She feels like she's normal again.
The two of the eventually just sat down and took a break from dancing, can't keep just doing that one thing over and over again, it'd be boring. The two of them sat down at one of the fold-up chairs near the punch bowl. Yang and Sun are also off the dance floor standing up and chatting, but they are across the room, chatting with Jaune and Weiss. Penny is also here to be surprised, Ruby was honestly surprised to see her here. since she went missing after that attack on the docks. Ruby waved at her, but she didn't get a response. Ruby than went to talk to Blake.
"Tonight, is fun so far." Ruby said.
"Yep, I feel the same way. I usually don't like social outings like these." Blake said.
"Ya, me too. Usually, I'm more of a fan of combat and fast-paced stuff... but you... you seem to make it quite enjoyable."
"Thank you. I was about to say the say something similar."
The two of them paused, and than they see Jaune and Weiss dancing again. Guess the conversation with Yang and Sun had came to an end and they went back to the dance floor, Weiss still looks humble from it.
"I still can't believe Jaune is wearing a dress though." Blake said out of humored surprise.
"It's out of nowhere too." Ruby stated.
"Well, at least he's committed to his word."
"Although why did no one ask Pyrrha out?"
"She's a popular figure, maybe because nobody thought she would be interested in someone who's not as famous as her."
"Oh, that's true."
"Hopefully she's doing fine."
"Ya, same."
It was nice to relax and enjoy some time with Blake. The dance itself is fun. Ruby went dancing, had some chats, had her first kiss. This night actually makes her feel more alive than she was when she was literally alive. Which is quite funny to Ruby, but she doesn't want to get all philosophical about that and just enjoy herself.
Although she does notice somebody breaking into the CCT, being that it's literally across the observatory. However, she does need an excuse to investigate it.
"Hey, Blake. Do you want some punch?" Ruby offered.
"I can get my own punch, but thank you for asking." Blake responded.
"Well, I'll just be going... somewhere, I'll be back though."
"Okay than. I'll let you know when something happens."
Ruby did a quick smooch on Blake's lips before heading out. She temporarily left the party to investigate whatever is going on at the CCT, which is short for 'Communications Tower', or at least Ruby thinks it's called that.
Ruby stepped out of the observatory where the dance is being held, and looked for a convenient spot to turn into a bird to fly up there. The last thing Ruby needs is to enter a fight and ruin her dress right now. She went behind a trash bin and hunkered down and went and transformed into her bird form. Which resembles a nevermore, but is too small to be mistaken for one.
Ruby went up and flew to the top of the tower. There's no blocking so she can just...
SPLAT!
Wait? What's this? There's some sort of invisible barrier blocking her entrance inside? Ruby pecked at this barrier, in hopes that it would be gone... but than Ruby realizes that it's a window. Guess she took think like a bird a bit too literally. Although she needs to stay focused. Someone's coming up on the elevator. Looks like a woman... wearing a mask. Ruby is in bird shape, maybe she can learn what she is up to by getting her attention... and than Ruby went back to pecking the window.
I am pecking at a window like a bird. This is not what'd I expect my huntress career would lead me to.
The woman was quick to notice Ruby's insufferable pecking, and she's the one doing it no less! The woman opened the window and picked up Ruby and placed her on her forearm.
"Were you sent here to check up on me, little nevermore?" The woman asked the bird (not knowing it's Ruby)
Ruby just nodded her head up and down.
"Oh. Well, I can assure you that I've already uploaded our friend's software onto Vale's CCT. Everything's going according to plan." She stated.
Ruby just nodded, can't tilt her head in confusion.
"And the Duke? Don't worry, we have something planned for him. He's a wildcard and has to be eliminated." She stated.
Ruby looks at the woman, staring in her eyes.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Go back to your queen!" The woman said, shaking her arms.
Ruby managed to fly off the woman's arms. And saw here escaping the scene. Ruby flew out of the CCT and went back somewhere to hide to change back into her human form. She's only been gone for two minutes, and no one saw her. Let's just get back to Blake and the dance.
She got back to the observatory. And went to find Blake sitting alone. She sat right next to her like she was before she went to the CCT as a bird.
"Hey Blake, I'm back." Ruby quietly announced to Blake.
"What were you doing by the way?" Blake asked.
"I'll tell you tomorrow."
"Why?"
"Because the current setting is not an appropriate place to discuss this. Besides, we're at a party, let's have fun!"
"I see your point, but you do have to tell me."
"Deal." Ruby said before doing a quick smooch on Blake's lips.
"You really like smooching me, don't ya?" Blake teased.
"Well... I'll normally be covering my face. I just want to kiss my girlfriend's lips when I'm not." Ruby responded.
"I don't blame you. You should use the makeup more often on outings like this so you don't cover up that cute smile of yours."
"D'aawww, thanks."
The two of them spent the rest of the night together, whether it just be either chilling and talking or dancing. The events of the dance went well. Who knew JNPR planned a whole dance routine? Well, the night was enjoyable. Everyone she knew was there, she did some catching up with her teammates and friends, had fun... It was like Ruby had spent time with people before she got bit and turned into what she is today. The night was fun. But eventually the dance had ended. And everyone had to come back to the school.
Beacon Academy, 4:29 AM, Monday, RWBY Dormitory
Ruby was couped up by herself in the dorm, with everyone but her asleep. Although Ruby wasn't bored. She was browsing the internet. She already showered and prepared for her first mission. Class is off today so students can focus on their mission. Ruby was already prepared, even wearing a fresh bandana to cover up her face. She just has to wait a bit before starting to make a filling breakfast for her team. Ruby was just chilling listening to her music on low volume until...
"Uhhh... would Ruby Rose please visit the headmaster's office? Sorry for waking everyone up for this. He said it's urgent." The speaker announced.
Well... that can't be good.
Author's Footnote: Well, this chapter's a bit short. Mostly because I had to go rewrite a lot of things because I was trying to make the chapter a bit... well. Good. Well, it's official. Ruby and Blake are officially dating in this fan work. It's not long because this chapter was solely in Ruby's perspective, so that means a lot of things weren't really added in. Ruby also now knows more than she should on certain things right now. Wonder how that would put a spin on things. But ya, if you have any questions, comments, criticisms, suggestions, etc. Leave them in the reviews and see ya next chapter!
