Chapter Six- Extraction Point
The door to the church was suddenly hit and made a loud thud, causing the furniture blocking it to move a bit. Officer's Johnathan Fangmeyer and Nicholas Wilde stood behind a long table and some chairs, a makeshift source of cover they had constructed mere moments ago as another thud echoed into the church, followed by several clicks of firearms.
Fang looked at Nick with a worried but angry face "you ready?" "As ready as I'll ever be" Nick affirmed as there was yet another thud.
Suddenly the door burst open and several mammals ran into the church and closed the door behind them, all while Nick and Fang hid behind the overturned table. Before they could go anywhere the two officers unveiled themselves and fired at the large group, Nick with his Mp7 and Fangmeyer with his M1911, downing multiple immediately.
The remaining hostels took cover and began returning fire as Fang reloaded, the bullets tore through the table like a knife to a cake. Fang rose up again and somehow got a leopard in the head, the feline falling to the ground with a thump before he ducked again and watched Nick fire at one of the stone support beams where a thug was hiding behind.
"LEFT!" Fang shouted and emptied a full magazine of 9mm bullets into a wolf's chest, mere inches away from Nick and just as they were about to fire at him, the hostile in question dropped the Grau 5.56 he was holding and almost fell onto Nick.
Fangmeyer dashed over and grabbed the assault rifle by the stock and pulled it back to him "finally, a real fucking gun" he said angrily as he checked the magazine, it hadn't even been fired though he only had two magazines left.
The thug behind the support beam leaned out from cover and fired a burst of automatic fire at the two officers as another criminal did the same before both leaning back in, Fang took the opportunity to stand up and return fire, thinking for a moment as he stood there and looked at the foot of one of the thugs that was just exposed as they hid.
Fangmeyer fired at the foot and watched another wolf fall forward, only to be lit up by his newfound assault rifle, the other mammal stuck out just then and had a clear shot of him before getting shot in the chest and falling backward. Fang looked at Nick for a moment before they were shot at again, this time by a large grizzly bear with a machine gun, the rifle chewed through the wooden table with ease, the assailant laughing as he fired.
The two were huddled behind the very edge of the table when the shooting stopped and was followed by multiple grunts. They both popped out to see Officer Price fighting the grizzly with his bare paws, the thug bear was clearly losing.
They watched Price take out a knife from his pocket, stab into the bear's stomach and pull up, essentially gutting the mammal; it was followed by an unearthly scream. Fang almost gagged as he watched Price shove the knife right into the side of the bear's throat and the blade came out the other end, before he pulled it out "fuck off" were the only words from his mouth as he turned to them.
"You two alright?" The fox and wolf were silent for a moment "Jesus Christ, yeah we are" the bear stepped back and made a military gesture "good, no time for standing around, rally on me, we need you" the two officers followed him up the stairs and into the room to see Mchorn still firing away and a lot more criminals than there were before, even Price was shocked by this "what the hell happened!?" The rhino looked at them almost frantically "I don't know! I'm running out of ammo!" The grizzly grumbled and snatched the radio once more.
"This is Bravo Six to Angle One! Get your ass over here or we'll be dead in ten!" the officer yelled into the radio.
"Angle One to Bravo Six! we'll be there in a minute, we have eyes on the church!" the voice on the other end said loudly.
Fang could see a large and long dot in the sky that was heading toward them, and could make out the structure of the AC130 as it got closer.
"Angle One to Bravo Six, we're in range and ready to fire"
"THEN FIRE GODDAMNIT!" Price screamed into the microphone.
Just then, Fangmeyer watched the gunship circle the churchyard "EVERYONE GET DOWN!" Price yelled as one large boom came from the sky before a delayed explosion seconds later, followed by what sounded like an autocannon firing bursts down onto the churchyard which made even more explosions, followed again by machine gun fire, even despite the many explosions, Fangmeyer could hear yelling and screaming from outside, this process repeated for upward of two minutes before stopping.
A "Wooohoo!" Could be heard from the other room, he and Nick watched Price hold the radio to his mouth.
"This is Bravo Six! Raptor One you are clear for extraction!"
"Copy that Bravo Six, standby for exfil"
Price looked at everyone and gestured to follow, they went into the other room. "EVERYONE GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF HERE! NOW!" The mammals in the room got up, with Grizzoli carrying Delgato "MOVE MOVE!" Price yelled even more as he broke through the church doors.
Fangmeyer watched as amongst all the bodies, an attack helicopter began to descend towards the ground and land with its rotors still spinning "get the hell in here Bravo Six! We're short on time!" the voice from the radio shouted as they walked towards the helicopter.
"Get Delgato on first!" Price shouted as he came to aid Grizzoli in carrying the tiger into the helicopter, Wolford, Nick and Catherine followed, along with Mchorn. Price got on last and stood on the edge of the helicopter.
"WAIT!" a voice yelled as all the guns in the helicopter were pointed at the source, the source of the voice was a lone gray wolf in a blue uniform that could hardly be considered as such, he was dripping blood too.
. . .
As Wolford put his hands up in front of the helicopter, a grizzly bear hopped off the vehicle and ran over to him "Micheal Wolford?" Wolford breathed an absolutely immense sigh of relief and nodded.
The wolf was picked up by the shoulder and brought over to the helicopter "Mike!" There were numerous shouts of his name as he was walked over, he only gave a slight wave "I've got you mate" the bear said as Wolford was lifted onto the helicopter.
He watched the grizzly pat the side of the helicopter three times "let's go Raptor One! We're done here" Price yelled as the pilot nodded as the helicopter began to take off.
"Copy that Bravo Six, this is Raptor One to central command, Team 1 has been successfully extracted with the hostage!" The pilot said as the helicopter flew out of the city to where it was safe.
. . .
Fangmeyer watched the helicopter begin to take off as Price stood there and grabbed the radio "this is Bravo Six, Team 1 has been successfully extracted with Micheal Wolford"
The chief's voice came from the other end.
"Wolford is with you!? What's his status?!"
"Critical, Team 1 is in need of immediate medical attention, three injured and one immobilized" He said looking at the team.
"Hostage is still bleeding and is in severe condition, I need an ambulance at the base immediately when we land" Price said then looking at Wolford.
"Hard copy, don't be a stranger Price" Bogo's voice said as Price nodded.
Price changed the radio channel and spoke into it again.
"Tango Mike Angle One! You saved our asses back there"
"Lima charlie Bravo Six, Angle One is headed back to base to refuel, see you there"
Fangmeyer watched as Happytown grew further and further away, he was interrupted by the officer once again "good job Team One, I'm more than impressed" Price said, still standing up.
"We wouldn't've done it without you Price" Grizzoli said shaking his paw "yeah, we're finally out of that shithole" Delgato added as he laid there caressing his chest.
"What now though" Price looked at the fox who had asked the question "right now, you three recover, it's not over yet" "damn right it isn't" Grizzoli finished "we've got Wolford, now we need to find Rouen" Price shook his head "not yet, we haven't even landed yet" "that bastards . . . Long gone anyways" Wolford spoke.
Fangmeyer turned to the other wolf as Price stood over him "how are you managing?" the wolf gave a weak thumbs up "better than expected" the grizzly nodded "an ambulance will be there when we land, Fangmeyer, Delgato, Wilde and you are the first to go" Fangmeyer nodded "yeah, I could use some medical attention about now" he said standing up and looking out of the helicopter.
"Thanks for saving me back there Fang" Nick spoke suddenly, he turned to the fox "don't mention it, I'd say the scores even" he said with a grin.
. . .
Leonard Grizzoli stood beside Fangmeyer and Price "I'm pretty impressed too, even if I had my doubts" he said in honesty as the bear looked at him "it's good to have doubts, I'll assume all of them are gone" he responded with a slight chuckle at the end.
"Don't worry, they are" he said looking out of the window, he saw the grizzly grin "good, I'm sure the chief is more than happy to know your alive" he turned around "and I'm pretty sure that rabbit girl of yours is doing fine already" Grizzoli turned to see Nick looking at them alertly "really?" Price nodded.
"From what Bogo said, it's all bandaged up" Nick sighed heavily "thank god" the fox said relieved.
"I am very impressed though, I haven't had a mission like that in a . . . Well ever, actually, that's some damn good work" Grizzoli nodded at the statement "I'm definitely asking for a raise after this" Delgato added from the back "same" Fangmeyer agreed, Price chuckled "I wouldn't put it past you, you've more than earned it" Grizzoli turned to Wolford "how the hell did you get out of there Mike?" The wolf in question coughed.
"Those thugs were . . . Oblivious, I cut myself free" Price spoke up, "well your real damn lucky your not out of blood yet" the bloody wolf raised his paw and grunted "I don't know how I'm alive right now" he said raspilly.
"You never do when you look like that, trust me I've been there more than once" Price said almost affirmingly "you're going to be alright Mike, just hang in there" Fangmeyer said also turning around. Wolford laughed "believe me I'm trying."
There was a short moment of silence that filled the helicopter until Grizzoli asked a question he was genuinely confused with "how many do you think were back there?" The lion asked, turning to everyone, "hell if I know" Fang said "a helluva lot more than twenty, that's for sure" Nick said with a snigger, the joke seemed to land on Grizzoli as he looked at the fox and shook his head.
"I wasn't even able to keep count," Mchorn said looking up, "at least a couple of hundred, maybe a thousand? Fydorov's gotta have more guns than we ever thought" Price answered, speaking the truth "well I mean, he is an arms dealer, it kinda makes sense" Nick added. "Yeah but Price is right, if every one of those thugs was armed then Rouen probably has even more guns" Catherine said as she sat next to the door "at least I got this baby from them though" she said looking at her R700 rifle and presenting it.
"Where'd you get it?" Price asked "a parting gift from one of those wolf pack bastards, not like they knew how to use it anyway" she said almost smugly "ya know I'm surprised you can even fire that thing Price, but I'm glad ya can" Mchorn said in disbelief, the compliment didn't seem to phase the officer at first "it's what I'm trained to do, 'preciate it though" he said giving a thumbs up.
The rhino nodded at the gesture, "what happened to you?" Mike asked from the back, Fangmeyer and Nick looked at the bleeding wolf, "You want the long story or the short one?" "short" Price interrupted.
"Nick got blown up and fell three stories, now he's got a concussion" Fang said pointing to the fox in question, who nodded "Delgato also got blown up and got hit in the ear and in the chest" he said gesturing to the bandaged tiger "and I got . . . Fucked up by some red bitch high on night howlers" He said pointing to himself.
"Huh . . . It looks like we all got our fair share then" Mike said with a weak chuckle "you fell three stories? I'm surprised you're alive, Wilde, let alone suitable for combat" Price said, sounding impressed, "let's just call it luck" Nick replied.
"What about you?" Grizzoli asked joining the conversation, the bear didn't even look at them to answer "I got hit a couple of times, took a few 9mm's, 7.62's, it's nothing I haven't endured before" he said rather casually.
Grizzoli looked at the grizzly's blood stained uniform, he could see the wounds the bear was talking about, the blood was dried and his fur stained crimson as Wolford spoke up "what . . . Do you mean by that?" The grizzly looked behind him for a second.
"I've been beaten, cut and shot to the brink of death more times than I can count, a few bullets aren't anything compared to some of the shit I've gone through" Grizzoli expressed some suspicion at this statement "in the SWAT force?" The bear shook his head "before I joined the ZPD, the point is that I'm fine, I'm more concerned with you" the lion took that as an answer to his suspicion and moved on.
"Five minutes Team 1, hang in there" the pilot said from in front of the team, Grizzoli looked at the front of the helicopter as Price tood behind the seat "Lima Charlie, everybody get ready for landing" Grizzoli turned back around and grabbed one of the bars next to the open window.
"You alright John?" He asked as Fangmeyer stood beside him, the white wolf nodded "I can manage . . ." The two officers watched as they flew over the suburbs near Happytown, it acted as a somewhat return to normalcy towards the two.
Soon all the officers watched an airfield come into view as they flew towards the nearby Zootropolis Air Base. Grizzoli could make out military jets and helicopters as they grew closer and closer, he turned around at the smell of smoke and saw Price with a cigar and lighter, putting it away with a loud *clink* as the helicopter slowly began to descend.
AN: Okay! What a chapter huh? Team One finally got out of Happytown, for now . . . Now they need to recover from all the punches they've taken. I like highlighting Nick and Fangmeyer's comradery as they cover each other's tail during that fight scene. And don't worry, this is only the first part of the story, there's a whole lot more to come! And remember I really appreciate reviews, sorry if I sound repetitive I just really want feedback from whoever's reading this.
