Chapter Ten- Ready For Duty

August 8th, 2019, Zootropolis Police Dept, Precinct 1

3:00 PM

Officer Sebastian Delgato walked up the front steps of the police station, he was nearly fully recovered from the fighting two days prior and it took the doctors completely by surprise, the tiger was fully combat ready now and he wanted some payback.

His teammates told him that they were ready when he was, and despite what happened last time, he was eager to take a swing at them again.

As he walked into the station he made it to the front desk where the station's lovable chubby cheetah was, who greeted him excitedly "Sebastian! I'm so happy you're okay" the cheetah spoke with a smile as Delgato nodded "good to see you mate, I'm glad too, but do you know where the others are?" The cheetah pointed towards the SWAT room "they went in there" "thanks mate" the tiger said before walking over.

Delgato was the last mammal to recover and be cleared for duty, meaning that most likely everybody was there, including Catherine Frost. He had to say that he was surprised with how lucky the snow leopard was, he also never knew how good she was with a sniper rifle. But she came out the least injured out of all of them even despite getting shot down in that helicopter.

He also knew that she was likely going to join them when they went back into the city, most likely because of Fangmeyer and Frost's relationship and their determination and anger.

He walked into the SWAT room to see all of his teammates in said room, oddly including Officer Price, who was in front of the armory "Sebastian" Grizzoli's voice spoke beside him "we're glad you recovered so quickly" he finished as Delgato turned to the team leader.

"Can't agree more, you said Bogo's letting us go back in?" He asked and watched Price nod "he is, but you're not going in just yet" the tiger looked at the team and stood there "well I hope not, considering I just got back from the hospital" this made the grizzly bear chuckle a bit.

Delgato looked at the team and thought "well, give me today and I'll be ready" he said walking over to his locker and opening it.

Much like Fangmeyer, not only was his uniform destroyed but his kevlar vest was completely destroyed after saving his life from four rifle rounds and generously breaking a few bones in the process, he had lost his weapons and equipment during the two days as well. Because of that, his locker was mostly empty apart from a few snacks and a spare pair of headphones . . . Though he could only put them in one ear now.

He was lucky that his left ear wasn't completely severed by those bullets but as one would expect, it did significant damage to his eardrum, making him basically deaf in that ear. Sure it significantly dampered his combat effectiveness but he was more concerned about the fact he could only listen to music in one ear.

He closed the locker shortly after opening it, looking at Officer Price afterwards "what are you doing here?" The grizzly turned "I'll most likely be joining you when the mission continues" Delgato simply nodded at this and walked over to the armory the bear was standing at.

He looked at the array of firearms on the wall, looking for his beloved EBR and Mp7 "there you are" he whispered as he grabbed the two weapons and put them in front of him.

He didn't know why he wanted to grab his guns right now, but he figured since everybody else seemed to be ready, he should be too.

"M14 and the Mp7?" Price's voice asked beside him, Delgato nodded "your the rifle mammal, good choices" Price said in what he assumed was a compliment "thanks, they're what I'm best with" he said grinning.

He watched the grizzly grab the M16 and hold it "never been a fan of semi automatics, I'm more precise with a standard battle rifle" he said unloading the empty magazine and looking into it. "Didn't say I hated 'em, the M16's iconic" Delgato said looking at the rifle "but no matter what weapons we're using, I'm ready for some bloody payback" Delgato spoke, angry now.

Price laughed a little "you tigers are always so determined, I'm glad you fit into the stereotype" Delgato's ear pricked up at this and he gave a thumbs up "it comes naturally after all" he said with a grin.

"So, now that everybody's here . . . what's the plan?" Grizzoli's voice spoke over the two officers, who left their desired weapons on the counter and walked over to the lion.

All of the mammals, including Catherine Snow, now stood around the central table of the SWAT room, Delgato and Price walked over and joined in.

He could see Grizzoli looking in thought "anyone?" Nick was the first to speak "no clue, we're basically just going in at this point" he said with multiple hand gestures displaying his lack of an idea "well we should try and not to get separated again like last time" Fangmeyer said leaning in on his arm, Price seemed to second this as Delgato watched him speak.

"With how much we're outnumbered, sticking together is key . . . another factor is stealth, we should only engage if we're found out," Price said, placing the arm with his cigar on the table.

The SWAT team agreed on this, displaying that by a variation of nods and answers "I agree but it's gonna be hard for me to be stealthy" Mchorn said as the team looked at him "maybe . . . Hide behind cover you can?" Delgato said rather unsure.

"It's a city, there'll be more than enough cover for you Mchorn" Price said assuringly, after that there was a long moment of silence in the room.

"So we've got nothing," Grizzoli said, almost disappointed.

"I'm sure Bogo's thought of something by now" Catherine spoke up "I'm sure he has, we won't be sent in half assed like last time" Price said getting up and walking towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Grizzoli asked, making the officer stop "for a smoke, I'll be back" he said before quickly exiting. "Wasn't he just smoking in here though?" Nick asked confusedly, Fangmeyer shrugged his shoulders "I wouldn't question it Nick" with that, the conversation continued.

AN: Sorry for how short this chapter is, but I didn't want Delgato to just appear off screen, so I figured I'd just cover it. Anyways that's about it, so see ya later.
