Chapter Seventeen- Soviet Connection

Frederick Manson held the phone to his ear as it rang on the other end, sighing as it did nothing but continue to ring.

"Come on . . . Pick up you son of a bitch" he said impatiently as he waited.

It would be at the end of the last ring when there was an answer.

"Jonas Manson! What an unexpected surprise" a Russian voice said on the other end.

"Not really though . . . I was expecting a phone call of some kind" they said after a short pause.

"Well you know me better than most, Belikov" Manson said as Belikov chuckled.

"Yes! Now what can I do for you, comrade?" Belikov asked enthusiastically.

"I need a favor" Manson said, getting straight to the point "of course! What do you need?" He asked.

"You've heard of Operation Fracture Jaw"

"A joint operation between the CIA and ZPD, of course"

"I'm in Happytown right now, with Redbone, the SAS and ZPD SWAT, I want you here with us" Manson told Belikov, getting a laugh in response.

"You know, I was wondering when you'd say that! I am in Tundra Town right now, when do you want me?" He said ecstatically from the other end.

"As soon as possible, I'm sure you've already been given the rundown of the operation" Manson responded.

"I have, have you found Fyodorov yet?"

"No, we've just found one of his armories though, it has enough to create a small army, that bastard is planning something big" Manson said with increasing hatred as he finished the sentence.

"Ah, so that is why you need me, eh? I will come as quickly as possible . . ."

"How much time will it take for you to get to the AO?"

"I would say about . . . An hour or two, mmm maybe more, helicopters do not fly themselves to me you know" Belikov joked from the other end.

His joke made Manson chuckle "that's not a problem, make sure to visit Adrian when you get here though, the ZPD's set up a checkpoint at the edge of the AO . . ."

"Adrian Bogo? You know he will be happy to see me after so long"

"Just lay off on the theatrics this time, Ivan"

"No promises Jonas, I will be there soon"

"10-4, don't be a stranger," Manson said before the call ended.

"Who was that?" The voice of Charlie Redbone interrupted as Manson looked at the wolf "it was Belikov . . . He'll be joining in soon."

He watched the sniper laugh "good, knowing him, he's probably been itching for a mission like he's covered in fleas" Manson nodded at the joke, making a small smile.

"If they haven't frozen off him already, that is, go check the surrounding area Charlie, make sure we're in the clear before we continue" Manson ordered after adding onto Redbone's joke.

. . .

Charlie Redbone nodded as he walked past his superior and up the stairs of the bell tower. He was surprised a place like this would even have a building this big, let alone have a church in the first place.

There were about five flights of steps that climbed up to the top of the bell tower, the church was made of stone brick so that was the only thing he saw until he reached the top.

He held his Dragunov as he made it up there and observed the church's surroundings, and he immediately saw something that worried him.

"Captain!" Redbone shouted "You might wanna take a look at this!" He heard rapid footsteps get closer and closer.

"What?" The captain asked with concern as Charlie stepped to the side and pointed at the cityscape.

About a few kilometers to their northeast, were multiple very large plumes of black smoke rising from the city streets. If he winced Charlie could just barely see the reddish orange glow of fire in some places.

"That doesn't look good Captain" Charlie exclaimed, his worry shown by how slow he spoke.

He watched the Captain look at the fire off in the distance, just from looking at it, Charlie knew that it was already out of control.

"What the hell happened Captain?" Charlie asked, looking at his superior, who replied rather casually "a napalm strike on one of Rouen's SAM missile sites, napalm doesn't go out easy Redbone" he said in a matter as if he were speaking from experience.

"It looks like it's headed for us" Charlie said, still quite concerned.

"It doesn't look as close as you think it is, Charlie, I would say it's about thirty miles Northeast, and we're going North" Manson explained.

Redbone shook his head "are we leaving now then? I don't see anything else other than that" his superior nodded.

"If we wanna catch Rouen . . ." Manson gestured for Redbone to follow as he finished speaking.

AN: Hey hey everybody! Sorry for the lack of these authors' notes segments, kinda forgot about 'em. I'm also very sorry for the very unorganized update schedule, I've been kinda hit hard with some writer's block recently so I didn't really wanna update the story too much to the point where y'all are where I am in the story, but I'll try to update this more often. Anyways that was sort of an introduction to Ivan Belikov, he's an . . . Interesting character that Manson is calling in to help him and SWAT Team 1 with this, that's about as much as I can tell you, cause I'm pretty horrible at writing these things. But, it would be REALLY appreciated if I could get some feedback on this story, I know it's getting kind of repetitive but y'all have no idea how much I'd appreciate even a little feedback or anything for that matter, cause I'm really looking to improve here, so if you'd like to say something then please do! Anyways, as always, I'll catch ya later.
