Chapter Twenty- Contact
AN: Finally some real action! I know it's been very scarce here and I honestly don't know why, but this is where the fun begins! And I'm happy to say this is a long one, I don't want chapters with fights in them to only be like ten pages long, but please read at your own pace. Another thing that I'm sure Y'all have noticed is that this AN is before the chapter, yeah I'm just experimenting with it cause it looks like a lot of authors on here do it like this. If you liked the AN's at the end though, I completely understand, feel free to state your preference if ya want. Anywho, I should probably stop rambling now and let you read . . . Oh also, I'm sure you all saw it coming but I'd appreciate any reviews or feedback on chapters like this, I'm . . . Not really used to writing combat stuff so if any of y'all wanna give me some tips, it'd be a life saver. Anyways, love ya and appreciate ya!
: Laughing Wolf
Officer Nicholas Wilde crouched beside Officer Johnathan Price with his M4A1 in his hands, he looked back for a minute, at his fellow officers that were behind a building next to them.
Suddenly there was a loud *CRACK* and a single orange muzzle flash from the building above them, and a large brown bear fell to the ground.
Which was followed by another, as he watched Price stand up and aim his weapon at the criminals "NOW!" He yelled as both Nick and the SWAT team revealed themselves and began shooting.
Nick began firing an automatic stream of lead at the crowd of mammals as he popped out from behind the concrete barrier. Pressing down on the trigger as hard as he could, Nick quickly panned his weapon to the right as he fired.
In doing so, he noticed about five mammals fell to the ground while the rest scrambled for cover, he heard multiple things whizz past him as they returned fire and Nick instinctively ducked.
He pushed his back up against the concrete and closed his eyes tightly as he was surrounded by whizzes, thuds and pangs. He grabbed the magazine of his weapon and reloaded the half empty clip as the street was lit up with gunfire.
He cocked the gun and took a deep breath before raising it over the barrier and firing blind bursts in the enemies direction.
Though his gunshots were drowned out by the loud and slow gunshots from the officer next to him, and from the SAS teams behind them, the M60's shots sounded like loud thuds or thunks as the grizzly fired a continuous stream of fully automatic fire.
Nick pulled his weapon away as he looked up at the officer and his weapon, eventually though the sound of the M60 came to an abrupt stop as Price too hid behind cover.
"How are they not dead?!" Nick exclaimed as he watched Price begin to reload.
"They're all behind cover! We need to find a way around those bastards!" Price yelled angrily.
There was another loud crack in the midst of the firefight and Nick peeped over to see a tiger's head and neck fall out from a concrete pillar.
But he quickly put his head down and turned to suddenly see Fangmeyer beside them "wha-where the hell did you come from!?" Nick shouted in confusion through heavy breaths.
"Just got here! We need to move up or we're pinned!" Fang shouted back, frankly stating the obvious.
"We've got 'em cornered right now!" Price answered, looking at Nick and then at Fangmeyer as he finished reloading.
"You two! Get off your asses and move up to that building!" He said, gesturing to one of the apartment buildings a few meters away from them. Its windows looked bare and there was no door.
"That won't give us much of an advantage!" Fang responded "if you get into the gas station those bastards are in front of, it will! You and Wilde are the smallest, so go! I'll cover you!" Price said as Nick got up and crouched near the edge of the barrier.
"This is Bravo Six to Checkpoint! We've made contact!" Price yelled into the radio as Nick and Fangmeyer looked at their destination.
The grizzly lifted his M60 up and fired "GO!" Nick nodded and looked at Fangmeyer for a split second before the fox began to sprint full speed toward the building.
"Come on!" Nick yelled at Fang as he ran as fast as his fox legs could move him. As they ran, the criminals began firing at the two small mammals with bullets whizzing right past them and in every direction.
"Holy shit, holy shit! HOLY shit!" Nick shouted as he ran for his life, dodging and weaving, ducking and eventually dropping onto all fours as he ran, not even knowing how he was carrying his weapons.
It all went by so quickly though, before he even knew it Nick threw his M4 into the doorway and rolled through the doorway with Fangmeyer running into the building and hiding behind the wall quickly after.
The fox almost hit the wall before regaining his footing and standing on all fours for a second and propping himself up, running over to the wall and hiding next to Fangmeyer.
The fox and wolf breathed so rapidly that they almost weren't regaining any breath as bullets still hit the wall behind them, they looked at each other and Nick coughed twice.
"Holy . . . Fucking shit . . ." Were the only words that came from his mouth before he looked out the window for a second as the firefight continued.
"My heart is . . . Racing, Jesus Nick" Fang said gripping his chest tightly "you alright John?" Nick asked, finally able to catch his breath.
The arctic wolf gave him a weak thumbs up as he recouped his breath. "I think I'm fine" he said, feeling himself to make sure, Nick laughed a bit "you think?" He said, chuckling.
"I . . . Don't feel like I got hit . . . My adrenaline is going crazy right now" Fangmeyer explained "well you don't look like it either, so that's good" Nick said nodding.
"Wilde, Fangmeyer! Talk to me!" Price's voice shouted through the radio.
Nick reached for his radio and spoke into it "yeah! we're alive!" He exclaimed through heavy breaths "Just scared shitless," Fangmeyer added.
"Good! Get your asses in that building and flank those bastards!" Price barked as they both looked at the window next to them.
Fangmeyer raised his M4 carbine and aimed it out the window but lowered it before he fired "copy that, Price . . . But we're gonna find another way around . . ." He said, gesturing for Nick to follow him.
The fox ducked below the open window and followed the wolf as the firefight ensued outside.
"You know the layout of these apartment buildings, right?" Fangmeyer asked as the two hastily tried searching for another exit.
"Yeah, this is the ground level, so . . . there should be other exits around, if we wanna get into that gas station then we better get there without anyone noticing" Nick said as he switched weapons.
He pulled out the Ak-74U from his back and checked the magazine, he could never be too sure that it wasn't empty.
Nick figured it was suitable for the stunt he and Fangmeyer were about to try and pull, sub machine guns were good for close range combat, he'd learnt that from his police training and the multitude of FPS games he played.
He put the full magazine back in the gun and loaded it as they searched for an exit. "You know, I was really expecting there to be less of them this time," Fang said as the two crept around.
"Well you might've jinxed it then Fang, those bastards are probably everywhere now" Nick said in between breaths "hey, that doesn't mean you should add to it then" Fangmeyer quickly replied as the two stopped.
"Right here, I think" Nick said as he and Fangmeyer stood in front of a blue metal door.
Nick slowly pushed the door open to reveal the entrance to a small alleyway in between the apartments, the firefight outside was much louder and visible from the small gap of the alley.
They both looked outside and then at another door in front of them "too close . . . We won't be able to get there without them noticing" Nick said almost as if he were thinking aloud, before grabbing the doorknob and pulling the door open.
He held the door for Fangmeyer to go first and closed it as quietly as he could. They were in a different apartment building now, but there were not many differences at all.
They looked through the windows as they passed them, there was constant gunfire and tracer rounds zipping past Nick's view, two differently pitched, loud cracks firing randomly from above them.
"A lot of them seem to be dead already" Fang observed as he looked on "let's just hope none of us are though" he added a bit solemnly.
"This door should be the one" Nick said with confidence as he pushed the door slowly again, it creaked open as the two small predators slipped out from it like snakes.
It was when they looked out from this alley, that Nick saw their opportunity and turned to Fang "c'mon, let's move . . ."
. . .
Officer Johnathan Fangmeyer watched his vulpine partner sneak up against the alleyway wall and followed behind him, he held his combat shotgun now, gripping it tightly in his paws and his paw pad resting gently on the trigger as he anticipated their move.
Nick looked at him and nodded, Fang nodded back before the two began to rush their way towards the small gas station.
Fangmeyer sprinted with his shotgun moving up and down next to his face, and right beside Nick as they ran across the street. The fox and wolf were frantically looking in all directions as they did so, Fang flinched at some of the gunshots, thinking they'd been spotted.
But it was shockingly quick before he and Nick made it to the side of the gas station and hugged the wall.
He watched Nick look at a chain link fence that fenced off the back of the station, and then back at him "you have anything that can cut metal?" The fox asked urgently.
"No, I don't, we could jump over" Fangmeyer suggested, pointing upwards "that'll work too" Nick acknowledged before grabbing the fence and pulling himself up and over almost magically.
Fang had a bit more trouble with it but still got over with relative ease, he dropped down on the ground next to Nick and dusted himself off for a minute.
"How do you do that so quickly?" He asked with a bit of jealousy as the two approached the building.
"It comes naturally, Fang" Nick said smugly as Fangmeyer moved in front of him and raised his shotgun.
The firefight ahead of them became much louder as Fang and Nick entered the gas station, and just like Price said, Rouen's men were held up in there.
Fang saw a tiger with an assault rifle, firing it from behind a corner and at the SWAT and SAS teams, but before he could take them out silently, a loud burst of automatic fire came from behind him and the criminal fell to the ground.
He turned to see Nick quickly moving past him and into the 'retail' part of the gas station, Fang quickly followed.
He dashed through the doorway to see Nick begin firing at the mammals in the building from behind a metal shelf.
Fang raised his shotgun and held down on the trigger as he shot five automatic rounds at the group of ambushed criminals before they could return fire.
Four of the mammals fell to the ground while three others stumbled and scrambled for cover.
Fangmeyer ran up behind the shelf beside where Nick was and looked at him "why'd you just run in like that?!" He whispered angrily.
The fox, still with angry eyes, only shrugged at this as the criminals fired back at the. Bullets zipped past Fangmeyer's face as he hugged the wall even more.
Nick popped out and fired a long burst of fire from his Ak-74u, the loud gunshots were followed by a loud shout before Fang also popped out and fired.
Fang moved up in fact, dashing past the empty shelves and firing three automatic shots at another wolf, a lioness and fox, all of which fell to the ground dead. He then lifted his shotgun and struck a tiger with the butt of his gun, knocking the feline out as he turned to see Nick following him.
Outside of the window, Fang could see multiple mammals turn around towards them and shout "it's that sly fucking fox!" A weasel exclaimed before raising their weapon.
The two ran as glass shattered in front of them and bullets hit the wall behind them, Fang quickly returned fire with his shotgun, firing three more shots before there was a *click*.
The arctic wolf growled aggressively as he yanked himself back into cover and reloaded "son of a bitch! Nick cover me!" He yelled, discarding the empty drum magazine.
"Already on it!" Nick exclaimed as Fang watched the red fox lean out from the door and fire his Ak until the magazine ran out, leaning back in to reload.
"How's that?!" Nick said quite smugly as Fang finished, "not bad, your barrels smoking!" he said as they both remained behind cover.
Nick said something in response but it was drowned out by a loud continuous stream of automatic fire, with the distinguishable sound of an M60.
"WHAT?!" Fang yelled, holding his paw to his ear "I said . . . ! Nevermind!" Nick shook his head and disposed of his empty magazine.
There was another duo of loud cracks in the air as Fang watched two of the mammals outside, drop to the ground, and he took the opportunity.
Fang rushed out from the door and held down on the trigger again, this time for much longer as he sprayed his shotgun rounds from the gas station wall to one of the pillars holding the building up.
There was a loud and continuous *THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP* as he unloaded the entire magazine on the mammals outside, hitting all but one.
He reached for his pistol and dodged as a hulking grizzly bear swiped at him before aiming his machine gun to fire.
The arctic wolf unloaded all the rounds of his Beretta M9 into the bear's stomach and went to reload, but when he looked back up, the grizzly was practically unfazed by the sidearm.
Fangmeyer rolled out of the way of another deadly swipe from the grizzly bear who had dropped his weapon, and finished reloading, his training made him incredibly fast when it came to that.
He held his pistol up and emptied half of the mag into the grizzlies chest again, he then aimed at the kneecap and got one shot in before there was a loud boom and the bear fell onto him.
"Agh!" he shouted as he tried pushing the bear off of him, the firefight still continued as the ursine slumped over to the side and onto his foot, with his pistol free, he saw one of the mammals fleeing to the large cargo truck and aimed it at them despite being stuck.
He fired five largely inaccurate shots at the criminal, one of them actually managed to hit them in the chest.
He then watched the black silhouettes of the four teams move up along the street, and the intense firefight . . . Now grew silent.
Fangmeyer turned around and began tugging at the dead bear that had fallen on him, watching Nick rush over to help.
The officer pulled the body off and stood over him, offering his paw, Fang grabbed it and was pulled up by the fox "you alright?" Nick asked as he dusted himself off and looked at the grizzly.
"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks" Fang nodded.
They both watched Price, Grizzoli, Mchorn and Delgato rush over to them, Price now had a cigar wedged in his mouth.
"That's some good work, Fangmeyer, that was some good shooting from both of you" the bear said, taking his cigar out and blowing smoke to the side.
"Thanks, the suppression helped a lot with that" Fang replied, giving a thumbs up.
"So now we just keep heading up the road?" Diego asked, the dire wolf stood next to Price as Fang watched Nick nod.
"That's the plan, but let's see what shit these bastards were loading onto this truck first . . ." Nick said, walking towards the cargo truck.
"Echo 4-3 to Team 1, how is everything down there?" Charlie's voice rang from Fangmeyer's radio, the arctic wolf picked it up "everything's good, thanks for the sniper support" he looked up at the apartment and saw Charlie's sniper glint.
"Anytime" Redbone replied back.
As the four teams stopped in front of the truck, it was now visible that Rouen's men were loading wooden boxes and crates into the bed and passenger seat.
The driver, a leopard, was slumped over the dashboard of the truck, and was yanked out by Price as they began to undo all of the criminals' hard work.
Nick held a rather small box with two paws and laid it onto the concrete in front of him and opened it, the excitement on his face quickly faded as the contents were revealed.
The fox looked at everyone "that's a lot of hand grenades . . ." Fang looked at the crate full of green explosives in surprise.
"They look like military issue too, fragmentation," Price said, holding one of them in his large paw.
"Same here . . . A whole crate full" Grizzoli said, presenting the box he picked out. Delgato laughed a bit loudly "good thing we didn't shoot any of 'em, right?"
"At least now they're free for the taking" Nick added as he grabbed one too.
Fang also grabbed one of the explosives and held it in between two paw pads "that's kind of worrying, isn't it?" He said as he examined it.
"Yes, but it's not surprising . . . Rouen's smuggled and stole military equipment from all over the world" Price said, putting the grenades on his belt.
"Anyone need ammo then? Cause every other one of these is filled with it" Ivory said, the elephant bent down and placed a large box of ammunition on the ground in front of them.
"I burned through a bit, as long as they have buckshot I'll restock" Fang said looking into the box of ammunition. Though it was different than he expected, all of the ammo was loose and not packaged, all of the rounds moved as Fangmeyer's paw sifted through it.
He growled lowly at this, his shotgun was not loaded like a traditional one, it only used drum magazines and could not be loaded from a tube. But even though he wanted additional ammunition, he didn't exactly need it.
"On second thought, I'm good for now" he declined as the rest of the mammals followed "all of this ammo is loose . . . It's unusable for me" Grizzoli added.
Fang watched Price stand straight and look at the truck next to them, before grabbing the radio.
"This is Bravo Six to Checkpoint, hostiles have been dispatched, we're continuing North" the bear said into the device.
"Copy Bravo Six, we'll have eyes in the air any minute now" Chief Bogo's voice came through the other end.
Nick suddenly grabbed his radio too and spoke into it.
"Chief, how's Judy doing?" he asked urgently.
"She's right here, Wilde . . . She's fine" Bogo replied.
Fang saw Nick sigh in relief at these words and put his radio back "alright, I'm ready then" the fox said, changing tone quickly . . . It made Fangmeyer curious but he immediately knew the reason behind it.
"We'll keep in touch Bogo" Price said as two mammals ran towards them from one of the apartment buildings.
"That was some damn good shooting Charlie" Nick complimented as the wolf and snow leopard stopped beside them.
"Thanks mate, Frost did decent for a beginner though" The gray wolf said, turning to Catherine "I did?" Charlie nodded "yea, you have the patience . . ."
"Let's keep moving then" Price spoke up before the teams fell back into formation and continued northward.
