Okay, so a bit of another before note: This is a really long chapter, like 30 pages, and I would really really appreciate ANY feedback on it when y'all are done, I really wanna know what you think of it considering it's my first time doing something like this. Oh, and the song I suggested from last chapter works here also, but I also suggest looking up "stealth music" and clicking on "Ghost", it really sets the mood (sorry if some of you mind these music recommendations, it's just what I was listening to when I wrote this)

Anywho, this is waaaay too long, so please, enjoy!

Chapter Twenty Eight- Silent Predator

August 8th, 2019.

Off. Adler, Franklin, ZPD SWAT, Ex ZDF, Ex CIA, Ex ZMC

Status: MIA

Officer Franklin Adler snuck onto the premises of the construction site, passed all of the trucks and to the remnants of the building once under construction there.

He was completely unarmed, not even carrying a knife with him, but from what he had seen, these thugs were lazy, he was hoping there was any kind of weapon that they left laying around.

He slowly made his way to one of the walls of the building and hugged it, looking to see if anyone had seen him.

Luckily, nobody had, so he began looking for a way to get in.

Voices were all around him as he entered the bottom floor through a large hole in its walls, a hole only a cat like a tiger could slink themselves through.

He took deep breaths as he assessed the situation, hugging the wall as he listened in on a casual conversation.

"Why are we moving all this shit now? The police aren't even in the city anymore" one voice spoke.

"I don't know, but we're moving it closer to the edge of this shithole," another replied.

"I just don't understand it though, there's already so many weapons here, why would we be moving it just after we got it all together? Ya know?" The first voice spoke again.

"I dunno, let's just do it . . ."

Adler peeked around from behind the wall and saw a wolf and coyote standing in the corner of the room, conversing, he moved back and hugged the wall quickly after.

The tiger's attention was brought to the rubble next to the hole he used to get in, he quietly grabbed a couple of stones and put them in his pocket.

He kept one in his paw and inched back over to the wall, checking where the canines were one more time. He watched the smaller coyote turn just as he put his head back in, the wolf did not.

He held the stone in his paw and threw it onto the ground where the coyote would see it, it was practically right next to him.

"Hm?" he heard them sound as it was followed by slow footsteps toward him, he brought out his claws as he watched the coyote walk up beside him and pick the stone up, they weren't even able to see him before he grabbed their neck and torso.

He pulled the canine to him and put them in a tight chokehold, clasping their muzzle as he began choking the canine.

He held them in place for about a minute, before they stopped and went limp. Adler quickly went to see what weapon they were carrying, but as he felt around for a concealed holster or gun, there was nothing.

It wasn't until he looked at their hips where he finally grabbed a weapon. He tossed the body on the ground beside him and held a combat knife in his paw. It definitely wasn't very useful in this situation, but it was definitely an upgrade.

He stepped out and slowly crept over to the wolf, who was still oblivious to what was happening. Once he was right behind them, he wrapped his arm around their waist and pulled them backward, simply slitting their throat in one quick motion.

The wolf in question fell to the floor dead as Adler looked at them for any weapons they had, but there were none. He growled quietly in frustration at this, looking behind him and at the exit to the room.

He picked up the wolf and carried them over to where the coyote was, dropping them next to the coyote and trying to cover it with the rubble.

After this, he looked at the two exits to the basement, one was a wooden stairwell leading upward, and another was a pathway leading right through a big gap in the wall and out into the construction site, most likely for easy access.

Adler gripped his knife and creeped towards the stairwell before walking up it as quietly as he could, hugging the guardrail as he reached a point where the stairs changed direction.

He peeked around the corner at the wall and the doorway above him, the coast looked clear but he didn't move.

Frank was figuring everything out as he went, he had no idea what to expect, what the layout of this place was, yet he needed to somehow kill every other mammal there without being seen. To say he was under pressure would be an understatement.

But he didn't have time to think too much about it, there was too much risk in it at the moment.

He quickly but quietly ascended up the stairs, gripping the knife tightly in his right paw as he entered the next floor of the building.

He turned the corner and assessed himself again as he looked at the room he had entered, quickly realizing that there was next to no cover there. He quickly dashed to the nearest wall and crouched beside it, the wall was broken and half crumbled, very clearly once being made of brick.

He looked up for a second and let out a frustrated sigh as he pressed himself against the wall, Adler didn't know where to go.

The layout of the construction site was hard to make out, the building Adler was in only had two floors, and the floor he was in had been practically destroyed through time.

Past that building were numerous paths leading to the large pit in the middle, where large crates and weapons laid.

Around this pit and these paths were scattered pieces of rubble, large chunks of cement and rebar left from when the building presumably collapsed.

This rubble was practically everywhere surrounding the entire site, and on the other side of it all was another part of the building. This part had three levels when including the basement, and the second floor was overlooking the entire construction site.

Adler looked at this as he crouched there, determining that the best course of action was to try and get a vantage point from that second floor.

The problem with that though was that he didn't even know how many thugs there were, but he knew it was definitely a lot.

As he mused, he froze as he heard a voice almost right next to him. It came from the other side of the wall and he watched as another wolf smoked a cigarette just above him, staring at the wall across from them.

He couldn't take them out, it was too risky, he could only shut up and wait till they moved on, or at least hope they moved on.

Frank stayed completely silent as he stared daggers at the wolf, before they suddenly looked away and walked out of view.

He took that opportunity to move again, getting up and looking around for any other exit to the room, luckily it didn't take long for him to spot a large hole in another wall leading to the side of the building.

He slipped past the stairwell and pressed himself against the wall. He looked at several piles of rubble in front of him and waited for a minute, he didn't see anybody, so he went for it.

The tiger swiftly ran to the piles of concrete and rubble, hiding behind the first one he reached and looking over his shoulder, as he crouched there.

He got a much better view of the situation from where he was now, and it was just as bad as he thought it was. He counted at least twenty mammals of various species around him, many were armed with assault rifles and smgs.

Most seemed to be helping load those crates into trucks, while about ten were just walking around, most likely on the lookout for anything.

He saw about eight of those wandering thugs on the ground, looking up he saw the other two at his destination, overlooking the entire construction site from the second floor.

He bore his teeth in frustration as he spotted all of them, sneaking past wouldn't be very fun, but it was necessary.

He nodded to himself as he prepared to move to the next piece of cover, a slightly smaller pile of rubble and rocks that was right next to a road the thugs were using.

Waiting for the right timing, he swiftly snuck over to the rocks and crouched again, his breathing slowed as he heard multiple sets of footsteps walking past him.

He listened in on another conversation, but it wasn't in English, "Arabic . . . That bastard's got his men from the middle east here . . ." Adler whispered to himself, taking note of it.

They were first talking about moving weapons and munitions as they walked past him, as they got further away though he heard them mention that Rouen was planning something. That was all he listened to before he focused on the other thugs around him.

He took another deep breath and poked his head out from cover, spying the multitude of thugs once again as they continued carrying those crates.

None of them looked like they knew he was there, but that only meant so much, if any of them were to spot him it would be game over.

Despite the urgency of that fact though, Frank knew taking this fast would get him killed, so he took his time and waited.

After minutes of doing that, he saw an opportunity and took it to move. The tiger dashed across the road at the least risky moment and hid behind two large chunks of building that concealed him from both his right and behind him.

However those weren't the only ones, multiple more large chunks of the building were obstructing his way to the other side.

He bore his fangs again in even more frustration as he analyzed for a way around, after about a minute though, he found one.

Despite how large the chunks of cement and rebar were, luckily for him, most of them had large gaps and holes near the bottom, holes that wouldn't be able to be traversed by any other big predator mammal, but big cats are notorious for their flexibility, Adler included.

Now thinking of this, he put the handle of his knife in his mouth and held it there as he got down on his knees and began to crawl through the gaps.

What made it even more like an abrupt stroke of luck was that there was a convenient path to the other side of all of this rubble, one that really wasn't very far from him.

Though he still crawled slowly through the narrow tunnel, if he took it fast, everything could collapse, or somebody would notice orange and black stripes moving through the rubble.

He looked back and forth as he crawled, looking through the cracks and holes beside him as he held his knife in his mouth, a very serious expression on his face as he did.

After about a minute or two of crawling, he finally popped his head out from the tunnel and crawled out, getting to his knees and then crouching again.

Frank dusted himself off as he stood up and looked at where he was, almost immediately noticing that he was right next to the building he needed to get into.

He took the knife out of his mouth and dusted the spit and saliva off it before moving toward the building, warily looking at his surroundings to see if anyone saw him.

Seeing that no one had noticed him, the tiger looked at the brick wall in front of him, hugging against it as he tried to figure out a way to get in.

As he thought, he spotted something near the far corner of the brick wall, a rather large hole that looked just big enough for someone to crawl through.

He didn't dwell on his luck before he got down again and peered through the hole, immediately recoiling as he saw a pair of footpaws a couple feet away.

He looked into it again about a minute later, noticing that whatever mammal wasn't facing his direction. In fact they seemed to be walking away.

Adler took the opportunity and got down on his knees, put the knife in his mouth and crawled through as quickly as he could.

After crawling through, he got back to his feet and quickly ran over to the nearest wall where they couldn't see him, he waited there until they walked by again.

He grabbed the fox's neck as they passed by, and yanked them behind the wall, slitting their throat before they could even fight back.

He killed the mammal with a concentrated deep breath and a grunt, before sitting them against the wall and checking for any weapon.

"Damnit . . ." Frank cursed lowly as he found nothing, stepping back from the dead fox and looking at the room he had entered.

Aside from a few tables, the room was practically bare, but unlike the other building, there were at least walls that concealed him.

There was another staircase visible in one of the corners of the room, that was where he needed to go to get a vantage point.

He held the knife tightly in a fighting stance as he approached the tables in the room, looking at the doorway as he passed it.

As he approached the table, Adler saw what looked like three throwing knives laying on it, seemingly placed there just for him.

Seeing they're value, he took them and put them loose in his pocket, reminding himself not to cut himself if he reached for them.

He slowly walked onto the stairs and hugged the railing as he ascended them, peeking around the second wall of the stairway at the floor above him.

He could hear two mammals as he crept closer and closer, reaching the top and seeing them just standing at the edge of the large hole in the wall that overlooked the area.

He reached into his pocket silently as he crept behind them, the two wolves were armed, so he couldn't take them both out with just his knife, but he knew those throwing knives would come in use.

He held two in one paw and lined up a shot at the wolf on the left, sliding the knife so its blade pointed toward his paw as he got just a bit closer.

Without hesitation, he threw the knife at the wolf on the left, hitting the back of their head as if it were a bullseye on a dart board, throwing the second at their back.

He pulled out his knife and yanked the second wolf as they reacted to their fellow canid falling to the ground, "what the fu-!?"

They were interrupted as Adler knocked into them, pulling them backward and plunging the knife into their throat, all done in incredibly quick succession and in complete utter silence.

He looked at the two dead wolves on the ground and dragged the bodies to the side, only making a quiet yet disgusted "ugh . . ."

However he was happy that the two were armed, one with an Ak-47 and the other with an Uzi submachine gun.

He grabbed the assault rifle and inspected it quickly "high caliber, high power. Right down my alley" he murmured to himself as he checked the Ak's magazine and loaded it again. It was full, but looked like the only mag he had.

He grabbed the smg from the dead wolf and checked that as well "it's not the biggest or the best, but it'll do in a pinch" he murmured again as he holstered the weapon on his side.

He crept over to where the two wolves were standing and peeked over the perch, finally getting a birds eye view of the situation.

Adler now counted about twenty five mammals in the construction site, most were still loading trucks with crates, but the rest were still roaming.

Another thing he hadn't noticed: was that the site was seemingly acting as some kind of scrap yard for Rouen's men. He could see a few stripped cars and trucks to the side of the building he was in, which could very well act as suitable cover.

He bore his fangs as he looked at the weapons he'd just requisitioned, none of them were suppressed. In fact both were as bare bones as you could get with a weapon, and going loud just wasn't an option.

He sighed at this realization and kept behind cover, pressing his paw on his forehead and trying to think.

There was no way he could take out that many mammals silently without anyone noticing, so he was essentially stuck on what to do next.

If he were to go loud, he'd run out of ammo quickly, and that would get himself killed, so the only option he was left with was to keep going silently.

How would he do that though? The predicament left him frustrated as he tried to think it through, analyzing the situation seemed to give him nothing, that was until he considered something.

The building he was in still had one or more other rooms, if he could clear those, then maybe he'll have some kind of advantage, not that he knew what would be.

He decided it was a good step, so he went for it; but he couldn't fire, which made it all the more difficult.

The tiger crept down the stairs and onto the ground floor, now with his knife in his paws, it felt redundant carrying a knife when he had two guns with him, but he couldn't be heard.

He slinked into the room he came from and looked around warily as he approached the door to another room, holding his weapon tightly and ready to strike.

He snuck into the room and checked his corners, luckily for Adler there was nobody in there. He let out a short sigh of relief as he cautiously looked at the seemingly bare room he was in.

However his observations were quickly subverted when he laid eyes on what looked to be one of those crates the thugs were carrying, in one of the far corners of the room.

He approached the green crate and opened it slowly, revealing magazines for a wide range of seemingly random weapons, from pistol magazines to M4 magazines.

The highlights there though were a good number of Ak-47 magazines, and even luckier for him, some for the Uzi. Most of the mags seemed to be full, with some being half full or with a couple rounds missing, but Frank was definitely not complaining.

He grabbed the ammunition hastily and put it in his pockets, not the most ideal spot for ammo but it had to do. After rummaging around for any more spare magazines, he suddenly noticed a single pair of M9 fragmentation grenades, which were very dangerously just rolling around as he searched.

He saw the obvious use in them, and grabbed the two explosives, hesitantly putting them in his other pocket.

Yet he was still faced with a glaring problem, although he had much more ammunition, he was still unsuppressed . . .

The only option he was left with was to continue trying to kill them quietly, without any sort of game plan, and only use his ammo if he was found out. It was a thought that sounded like it'd get him killed. But he wasn't left with much else.

He balled his fist as he mused on how he would somehow kill them all without being heard or seen. He knew he was running short on time, it was only a matter of time before one of them discovered the bodies, so he had to act no matter what.

So he took a deep breath and looked at the doorway leading out of the room and back into the construction site. Seeing that there was still a fair amount of cover for him to sneak around in.

He waited for the right moment to move and took it, dashing across the ground and ducking towards the piles of trash and rubble in front of him.

Adler began sneaking past multiple piles of rubble, looking over them and trying to get an idea of what his course of action was. He eventually reached the number of stripped cars he had seen from the building. At first he thought nothing of them, but his mind got thinking . . .

He slowly stood up and looked at the hood of a pickup truck, lifting it even slower to make sure nobody saw it. He grumbled as he was greeted with no engine, which wasn't optimal for what he was thinking, so he moved and tried again.

Sneaking over to another scrapped vehicle, Adler opened the hood of a van and looked at the contents. He hemmed as he saw what he was looking for, an oil filter.

He reached into the engine and grabbed the red cylinder and unscrewed it from its place in the engine, observing it in his paw for a second.

Adler took out his Ak-47 and held it by the stock as he put the oil filter in front of the barrel and screwed it onto the muzzle, seeing that it fit quite well.

He grinned at the weapon "It's crude, but it'll work" he murmured as he held the rifle in his paws and crouched again.

He had heard that oil filters act as very crude suppressors for firearms, in fact he'd seen it on some occasions. Even if it was far from the best suppressor out there, it would definitely be better than nothing.

Now that he had at least some kind of suppressor, he could take someone out if they saw him before anyone else noticed, granted, that use was very specific.

Yet, having a suppressor was definitely an advantage now, even if a suppressor doesn't muffle an entire gunshot, it still silences a good part of it. Meaning he could use it for what it was made for, killing silently.

He just needed to find a way to single some of the thugs out, lure them toward him without ringing any bells.

Adler peeked from cover and looked at the thugs again, they had moved, but none of them were near him. Most were still carrying crates back and forth, which meant that they were probably not paying much attention.

Despite that, there were still about twenty of them he could see, the tiger needed to wait for the right moment to move, even if he didn't quite know where he'd be going.

Adler let out a deep exhale as he silently dashed over to another pile of rubble, pushing himself against it as he crouched there.

He heard multiple slams of car doors a fair distance away from him, and he bore his teeth as he realized them. He was screwed if even more thugs just arrived at the construction site, which meant he'd have to make a move, and fast.

But Frank didn't get ahead of himself, he looked over the rubble again and at the road where they were loading those trucks.

He watched silently as one of the white vehicles drove out of view, which definitely subverted his expectation.

The tiger observed as many of the thugs looked in that direction, obviously distracted; which gave Adler an opening.

He dashed across the open dirt road as quickly as he could, it was an arguably stupid move but it was the quickest way he'd get somewhere.

Despite how stupid it was, he wasn't seen, crouching again as he reached the other side and taking cover behind even more rubble.

He hugged cover as he dashed from one to the other, stopping dead in his tracks as he heard footsteps that were practically right next to him.

Adler held his rifle in his paws and slowly peaked around cover, he saw another wolf looking the other direction, still distracted by the trucks.

He aimed his rifle and closed one eye as the iron sights descended onto the wolf's head, Adler pressed down on the trigger for a second.

His rifle let out a single shot as the bullet hit its mark, letting out a suppressed but still rather loud sonic boom as the wolf fell to the ground.

He crept over and looked at the body, being very delighted to see that they had another ak-47 on them.

Adler pulled the wolf to the side and behind cover, taking their rifle just in case he needed it, though he was really saving it for Mason.

AN: Heya y'all, I REALLY hope you enjoyed this chapter, because as I said before, it's a first for me. I really tried to write this like a stealth mission in a Call of Duty game, and I hope that shows a lot. I took a lot of inspiration for this story from those games, so I wanted to try it out myself. After all, what's an action story without a stealth bit? Anywho, as I said, reviews and comments here are vastly appreciated, because I really wanna know what y'all think, so hopefully at least some of you review this, cause I'd be over the moon! Another thing is that you guys are getting a bit too close to where I am in the story, I'm only up to chapter thirty (that's two chapters!) so expect the updates to be a teensy bit more scarce from here on. And I've really gotta get my A game on too, start writing a lot more here!

Anyways, I'll get outta your hair now! Love ya and appreciate ya!

A Laughing Wolf.
