Chapter Thirty- Testing All Odds

Officer Franklin Adler's paw rested on the trigger as he heard his fellow officers go ahead, he aimed through the iron sights and took in a deep breath as he pressed down on the trigger twice.

He flinched as each suppressed shot hit, both wolves falling to the ground before they could even react.

Though what Adler thought was two clean kills were clearly not, as someone shouted immediately afterwards "what the fuck!? Hey! We're getting shot at!"

"Well so much for going silent" Mason said before he raised his Grau 5.6 and shot a burst at the large group of mammals they had spotted before.

The wolf downed about two of the thugs before they began getting shot at from behind cover, though neither of them stopped firing.

Adler aimed at the entrance and shot at the mammals trying to pour in, dropping one before they could even put their box down, and two others as they ran over.

All while Mason continued shooting beside him, the gray wolf managed to take out several more hostiles as they were getting shot at.

"I'm reloading!" he said as he bent down and chucked an empty magazine across the floor, inserting a new one into the Grau and cocking it.

Frank covered his ally and shot at a fox as they peered out from cover, they dropped their weapon before they could even get a shot out.

Though they became suppressed as they were shot at from multiple angles at once, the sandbags absorbed most of the bullets.

As the two mammals huddled there, Frank reached into his pocket and almost stabbed himself pulling out the hand grenade from earlier.

He looked at the explosive and pulled the pin "throwing a frag!" he shouted as he lobbed it towards where they were getting shot at.

There was a delayed bang before he peeked out from cover and started firing, he managed to down two hostiles, a wolf and lion who were still shooting at them.

This was followed by Mason, who shot at two thugs that poured out from the building across from them and almost emptied his entire magazine.

The wolf managed to kill them both as they fell onto the ground dead. After that there was a long moment of silence, and the two mammals breathed respective sighs of relief.

Though this would be interrupted by the sound of three trucks arriving at the entrance, something that Adler noticed immediately.

"Mason! They've got trucks!" He shouted and aimed his now reloaded ak-47 at the vehicles as multiple mammals got out.

He shot at the mammals as they exited but missed most of his shots, only managing to hit one of the thugs as they ran for cover.

The hostiles quickly returned fire with some accurate shots that hit the walls surrounding them, it made Adler duck.

Mason took out his ak-47 now and began firing unsuppressed bursts at them, the construction site now filled with nothing but the sound of gunfire.

"We need to take care of this! Quick! Or they won't stop coming!" Frank yelled as Mason fired "I know! What do you think I'm trying to do!?" the wolf shouted back.

Adler saw some of the mammals rush over to cover across from the entrance and shot at them, managing to down two.

"Watch your left!" Adler shouted as Mason nodded, though they were both interrupted as a pickup truck drove into the construction site.

On the back was a mounted 50. caliber machine gun that began opening fire on them immediately.

"Shit! Machine gun! Mason, get down!" Adler yelled as he got on his stomach and hid behind the wall.

The sound of the machine gun permeated through the air, though only for a short while, as Adler watched Mason grab a frag grenade from his pocket and throw it towards the truck.

There was a loud *CRACK* from the explosion that followed, and the truck went silent.

Adler got up and immediately began firing at the advancing hostiles, downing four of them as they grew closer to their position.

Mason killed multiple as well with his Ak-47, unloading it below them as the thugs tried to get closer.

Adler then heard something that sounded like footsteps behind them and turned around with his rifle.

He immediately shot a wolf as they came up the stairs, dropping their weapon through the doorway and falling onto the floor.

"They're behind us!" Adler shouted as he aimed his weapon at the stairs and waited, as he suspected, another mammal peeked around the corner.

Frank shot them immediately, shooting through the wall and watching them seemingly slip onto the ground and fall down the stairs, dropping their weapon as they did.

He stood up and ran over to the stairs, peeking around the corner at the stairway with his rifle, only to see nobody.

He looked down and quickly grabbed the two weapons the mammals had dropped, another Ak-47 and an AN-94.

He brought the two rifles over and placed them on the ground beside him, continuing to fire at the thugs who were now scattered and in cover.

Adler shot a wolf and fox as they tried running toward their position on the left side, although he was on the right, he hit both of them.

He watched Mason fire a long burst from his Ak-47 before ducking down and reloading "I'll cover you!" Adler said before the wolf could even shout it out.

He saw that the thugs took that opportunity to try and run on both sides, Adler shot at hostiles on the left, downing five of them and swiveling to the right.

He shot at the thugs on the right and managed to hit two, but he missed one of them "one's gonna come behind us! Watch the fucking stairs!" He shouted as he continued firing.

"How many are left?! Can't be a lot!" Mason shouted back behind him.

"No idea! Just watch those stairs!" Frank yelled as he watched two more thugs run out from cover and shoot at him.

He ducked his head down and returned fire, managing to hit one as they returned back behind cover.

Adler waited for them to pop out again, and saw one peek around the corner, he took the opportunity and shot the wall in front of them, watching them fall forward onto the floor.

He ducked behind cover and reloaded his rifle afterward, tossing the empty magazine onto the ground and inserting a new one, cocking the handle.

Frank popped up over cover and aimed at nothing, the firefight had gone completely silent now.

His bared fangs slowly dissipated as he breathed a sigh of relief and turned around "you think that's-" he was cut off by a sudden burst of fire from Mason.

A wolf fell onto the stairway and laid there dead, Mason looked at the striped cat ". . . It? Yeah I'm sure" He finished Frank's question as the tiger shook his head.

"You've got cat-like reflexes . . ." He said, impressed "from you that's a compliment Frank" Mason responded as the two stood there.

"We should check out what's in those crates now," Mason said, beginning to walk down the stairs.

Adler nodded "while we clear the perimeter . . ." He replied as the two mammals walked out of the stairwell and cleared the rest of the building.

They walked out and looked at the carnage, the truck from before was still burning, and bodies were littered in front of them.

The two lifted their weapons up as they made sure that was it, standing there for a second before swiftly walking over to one of the green crates.

Adler holstered his rifle and opened the long crate, his eyes widening at what he saw "Jesus Christ . . . These are ZAF" he said, stepping back from the crate full of military rifles.

The crate was full of M4A1 assault rifles, the standard issue rifle of the Zootopian Armed Forces. There were about six of them in the green box, all pristine and loaded.

"What the fuck?" Mason said in astonishment and deep concern, looking at Adler with a concerned face.

"They were carrying these out from that building over there . . ." Frank said, pointing to the building in front of them.

Mason nodded as the two mammals entered and looked around, spotting a stairway in the corner that Adler didn't remember being there before.

As they descended down the stairs, they both gasped at what they saw.

Crates upon crates upon crates were piled on the sides of the room, and in front of them were countless racks of guns.

From assault rifles, smgs and lmgs to sniper rifles and rocket launchers, weapons from countries ranging from Russia and Zootopia to China and practically all of Europe.

In the center was a large table with even more guns, P90's, Ak's, M4's, Mp5's, SAW's, grenades, everything . . . there was so much that it couldn't even be described.

Though something that caught Adler's attention immediately aside from all of the guns, was a radio in the center.

He rushed over to the table and grabbed the device, turning it on. Frank began flipping through the different channels, looking for the frequency the SWAT teams were using.

Eventually he found it and he let out a relieved laugh as he did. He grabbed the mouthpiece and put it up to his mouth.

"This is Team 4 to Checkpoint One! For fucks sakes please, respond!" he shouted into the microphone as there was nothing but static on the end.

Though the static was interrupted by a shout "Team 4? Adler! What the bloody hell happened!?" a familiar voice responded.

"This is Bravo Six! Team Four, DO YOU COPY!?" The voice of officer Price shouted through the other end.

"Hard copy, Price, we thought you were dead" Adler said through the radio.

"That doesn't matter right now! What's your status? Gimme a sitrep!" the bear shouted again.

"Two of us are dead, we escaped capture, Mason and Gabriel are with me . . ." Then Adler realized, turning to Mason.

"Mason, go get Gabriel!" He watched the wolf nod and quickly leave.

"We need some fucking medical, immediately, and an evac outta this shithole" Frank said as he stood there.

He heard a sigh from the other end "where are you now?"

"A construction site, I'm standing in front of about a couple of thousand guns right now, Rouen's men were trying to haul weapons away from an armory here" Frank responded.

"We have your coordinates Adler, stay where you are, that armory is crucial to us" Price said on the other end.

"Well you better get your ass over here quickly Price, are you safe?"

"More than that, we left two days ago, I'm with Team One and the SAS, we're coming" Price explained.

"The SAS? When did they get involved?" Frank questioned.

"Two days ago, their cooperating in the name of anti terror" Price explained as Frank nodded.

"Copy that Price, we just took out a whole bunch of them here, the armory is clear"

"10-4 . . . We're heading toward you right now, make sure to be ready for exfil and notify us of anything"

Adler nodded "copy, we will" Adler said, holding the radio.

He watched as Mason came back with Gabriel slouched on his shoulder "you made quite a mess there Frank" the bear said as he was brought down the stairs.

"No shit, Price is alive . . . He's with Team One and apparently the SAS, their heading here so we can go home" Adler explained as both mammals nodded.

"It's about fucking time . . ." Gabriel answered.

AN: Heya y'all! Sorry for the wait here, uh, still haven't made much progress, I'm kind of busy with applying for college at the moment, but! That don't mean I'm not gonna give y'all another chapter.
