Chapter Thirty One- Regrouping
Captain Frederick Jonas Manson held his paw up as Team One came to a stop, they looked at a large construction site along the main road.
He could see smoke coming from the area and abandoned pickup trucks parked beside the construction site.
"This is the place Adler was talking about?" Grizzoli asked from behind, Manson nodded as they began walking again.
"It is . . . Now let's move" he said as the teams dashed over to the entrance of the construction site.
They all slowed down as they reached the entrance, there were bodies littered everywhere, and a burning truck sat in the middle of the road.
Manson grabbed his radio, "This is Bravo Six, Adler, we're here" he spoke and held the microphone there.
"Copy that Price . . . We're coming out" Officer Adler's voice came from the other end.
As the teams stood there, they saw a tiger emerge from one of the buildings with their paws up, they were bloodied and disheveled.
This was followed by a wolf and brown bear, the brown bear was visibly soaked in blood, even from a distance, they were carried on the wolf's shoulder and limping as they walked.
"They've definitely seen better days . . ." Nick said from behind him.
. . .
Franklin Adler walked out of the building to see none other than Officer Price.
The giant grizzly stood there in full combat gear with the large white letters "S.A.S" engraved on his chest and what looked like a Union Jack on his right shoulder.
The large bear just stood there before looking behind him "Team One, secure the perimeter" he ordered and began walking over.
Adler also began walking over as well, as the two got closer, he could hear Price sigh "you broken?" the bear asked as they stopped in front of each other.
Adler shook his head "a little bit, but Gabriel and Mason need medical far more than me" he said pointing at the two mammals who were walking over.
"What the hell happened to you three?" Price asked as Adler answered "toture. Lots of torture" he saw the grizzly bare his fangs at the word.
"Who?" the bear asked with a balled fist "couldn't tell you if I wanted John, I . . . Clearly got the brunt of it" Gabriel said, grunting in pain as he spoke.
"Diego! Get these three some medical!" The bear shouted behind him as he got an affirmative "rog!" In response.
He looked back at Adler and the others, "that doesn't matter . . . I thought I lost you three . . . It was my fucking fault, should've been more prepared" Price said with regret.
"There was no way we could've expected that shit Price, believe me" Adler shook his head.
"I'm just glad you're not dead, Adler, you're a damn good soldier . . ." Price said with a laugh.
"That goes for the rest of you, Gabriel, Mason, the SAS has medical prepped for you over there" the bear said pointing a thumb behind him,
The two SWAT officers nodded and left swiftly, leaving him and Price alone.
"I'm glad you got out of there Price, if you really think there's a score here, then consider it even" Adler said, leaning against the building.
He heard the bear let out a chuckle and watched him grin "it's even then . . . Just glad you're still here" he said with a nod.
He looked at Price and shook his head "I do wonder though . . . I feel like this is more than just a SWAT raid Price, and the SAS only confirmed that . . ." Adler said as Price looked at him.
"What is this, really?" He suddenly pressed the grizzly as he looked at him and pulled out a large cigar.
The bear lit it with a lighter and held it in his paws "you're ex-spec ops so I can trust you with this Adler . . ."
"This is a CIA operation, the SAS is with the CIA here" Adler's head recoiled at this.
"CIA? I thought they stopped trying to snag Rouen a while ago" he said with a raised eyebrow.
"We never stopped Adler, that cat is just always one step ahead of everyone, including the CIA" Price explained, but he was beginning to wonder if it was actually Price.
"So who are you really then?" he asked as Price shook his head "can't tell you that Adler, but the objective is anti terror, that bastard is planning something . . ." Adler didn't poke and prod, he left it at that.
"Go figure, the bastard's fucking insane . . ." Frank said, shaking his head.
"The CIA just doesn't know what he's planning yet, it's suspected it involves Night Howlers . . . It's not a good look" Price explained.
"You think you'll catch him this time?" Frank asked "it's not a thought, we have to catch him. And it looks like our plan is working" Price said as he blew smoke from his cigar.
Adler nodded and got up "when's evac coming then?" he asked as he looked at the sky.
"Raptor One should be here in a few minutes, their flying you back to Checkpoint and sending you home . . ."
"About damn time . . ." Adler said with a relieved sigh, "If Gabriel was in good condition, I'd stay but I wanna keep tabs on him . . ." He said and watched Price nod.
"Don't blame you mate" Price said with a nod, "you three have been through one hell of a lot" he added.
"Yeah, damn right . . . What's the plan here though? Rouen isn't gonna go down easily" Adler asked as Price blew cigar smoke from his muzzle.
"Rouen's already in retreat, right now we'll stockpile on ammunition, speaking of . . . how big is the armoury here?" The grizzly asked as Adler looked at the doorway.
"I can't even describe it, that bastard's got more weapons than I've ever seen" he explained as the two walked in and went down the steps.
He saw Price's face drop immediately after seeing it "bloody fucking hell . . ." He said as he slowly turned to Adler.
He watched Price grab his radio and fiddle with it for a moment "this is Bravo Six to Checkpoint, we've reached the armoury at the construction site" he spoke into the radio.
"How bad is it?" Chief Bogo's voice asked from the other end.
"It's worse Adrian, much, much worse . . ." Price replied.
Adler heard a sigh from the other end "shit . . . How much is there, Price?" Bogo's voice asked.
"That bastard has everything here, smg's assault rifles, lmg's, sniper rifles . . . And RPGs, lots of them . . ." Price said as they looked at a rack full of Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers.
"Not to mention what's inside those fucking crates, Price" Adler added, pointing at the piled up wall of green crates on the side.
He watched Price nod and shake his head at this "it's far too much for the ZPD to confiscate, but we're going to rearm with as much as we can" he said looking at all of the guns.
"It sounds like it's too much to leave behind . . . Who are you calling in?" Bogo's question caught Adler's interest.
"The big guns . . ." was the only thing Price responded with.
"Copy. Update me when you're rearmed" Bogo replied as Price put the radio back.
"Who are the big guns?" Adler asked as Price looked at him and grinned.
"The military . . ." He said and put a cigar in his mouth, Adler stepped back at this "to collect these weapons?" He asked as the bear nodded.
"Yes, and to make sure they can prevent whatever Rouen is planning with all of them, if he has this many, not even the CIA knows what he's planning to do" Price explained.
"I don't even wanna know . . . He practically has his own army" Adler said with a nod, "how much are you taking from here then?" He asked.
Price looked at him with a grin "as much as we can carry, there's lots of choices to pick from" he said as Frank nodded.
"I wouldn't put it past you, bet those RPGs will come in handy" he said with a chuckle, looking at the rocket launchers.
"Bet your ass they will, but you should go up and get some medical, we'll deal with this" Price said, beginning to walk away.
. . .
Officer Johnathan Fangmeyer stood at the edge of the now secured construction site with his team, as he saw Price walking over to them.
He watched Grizzoli step forward and stop in front of the grizzly "everything's secure Price" he reported as the grizzly nodded.
"Good, all of you, on me . . ." Price ordered, turning around and walking away "hope Mason and Gabe are alright . . ." Mchorn said as the SWAT Team followed Price.
"Don't worry, they're some of our best officers, they'll be fine . . ." Grizzoli assured beside Fang, as they walked over to one of the destroyed buildings.
Price stood there in front of the doorway, gesturing for them to stop, "before you go in, we're not coming back here, so take as much as you can, especially you, Mchorn" the grizzly informed before walking through the door.
Fang's eyes narrowed in suspicion of just how large this armory could be, completely unprepared for what he saw as he stepped down the stairs and turned the corner.
Fangmeyer stopped behind Grizzoli, who stood there in awe in front of him, though Fang quickly moved to the side to get a better view of it all.
"What the fuuuck . . . ?" Nick asked beside him in dumbfoundment as the SWAT Team stood in front of what was probably the biggest score the ZPD has ever found.
Firearms were everywhere, of almost every kind you could think of, Mp5's, Ak-47's, SAW's, RPG's and rocket launchers, and those were just the ones that stuck out to him first.
"What the fuck Price?" Grizzoli asked in audible concern, but the grizzly only walked toward the stockpile of guns.
"This is too much for the ZPD to confiscate, so I want you to take as much as you can . . . The SAS is arming up after you, so make it quick too" Price ordered without even looking at them.
Nick was the first to respond, with an amused huff, or was it excitement? "You don't have to tell me twice . . ." he said and walked forward.
Fangmeyer walked over too, glancing up in awe at all of the choices, he was already carrying two weapons, but that didn't mean he couldn't carry a third . . .
He considered what he already had, an M4 Carbine and an auto shotgun, he figured either an smg or assault rifle would be useful to him.
Though he looked at his options and two did stand out to him, the P90 and Grau 5.56, the latter of which being an assault rifle.
He had used it when they were fighting in the church, leaving it there when they were extracted.
This Grau in particular seemed to be fully decked out, most weapons in this armory were. It had a very visible underbarrel grenade launcher, a holographic sight, and custom grip.
It was tempting, but as he looked at the P90 for comparison, he made the decision, grabbing the Grau 5.56 off the wall with some ammunition.
He looked over to see Nick not far away from him, the red fox was currently looking up at a customized Ak-47 on the wall.
"Another assault rifle, huh?" Fang asked as Nick looked at him in response "don't think it'll hurt, the more the merrier right?" the fox replied as Fangmeyer nodded.
"Damn right . . ." Fang responded.
. . .
Sergeant Charlie Redbone walked through the door to the armory and down the steps, looking for his superior.
Though the gray wolf staggered a bit upon what he saw "bloody hell . . ." He murmured as he watched the captain look at him.
"Charlie, over here" the grizzly ordered as Charlie hurried over, "Captain . . . What the hell is this?" He asked in concern as his superior glanced at all of the firearms.
"It's worse than we thought . . . We're arming up here, so take what you can" Manson said as Charlie looked at all of the guns.
"This isn't worse than we thought, Captain, this is on a whole nother level . . ." He said as his superior nodded.
"I know, now arm up, we're not coming back here" the captain said as Redbone looked at everything.
There were many many options, but Charlie's a simple wolf, his eyes being set on a rather wildly customized M4A1 assault rifle.
It was fitted with a holographic and red dot reflex sight, custom grip and a custom stock, it seemingly called out to him as he looked.
Charlie reached over and grabbed the rifle off its rack "hello hello . . . You're coming with me . . ." He said as he loaded the weapon.
Redbone looked at his superior, just as he grabbed a Spas-12 shotgun from its rack, before loading it with shells.
"A Spas?" he asked as the captain looked at him, "it always was reliable, Redbone, no different now" he replied as he finished loading the shotgun shells in.
"Slugs?" Charlie asked further as Manson shook his head "no, buckshot, it's more than enough" he responded, placing the shotgun behind his back.
He nodded at this "I'm all armed up then, Captain, ready when you are" he said, stepping back as Manson nodded.
"Wait for Team 1 and the SAS to arm up, then we're leaving" He answered before stepping back and shouting.
"Everyone! You have five minutes before the SAS arms up, make sure you have everything you can carry, because we're not coming back" the grizzly bear said loudly, crossing his arms as he stood there and watched.
Charlie watched his superior take out a lighter and cigar, wedging it in his muzzle and lighting it.
He watched Manson walk over to Officer Mchorn, currently gripping his minigun in his massive hands, "Mchorn, grab one of those RPG's" the grizzly ordered as the rhino looked at him.
Putting the giant weapon away, Mchorn took one of the large launchers off its rack and examined it, nodding his head, "I wasn't even thinkin of using one of these" he responded.
"Well it'll certainly help, and make sure to grab a good amount of rockets too, I have a feeling we're going to need it" Manson answered as Mchorn grabbed one of the large RPG rounds and examined it.
Though Charlie didn't stand there watching for long.
The gray wolf walked over to the white one, who was currently chatting with Nick about something.
"What's going on with you two?" He asked as he approached them, the two mammals turned to him.
"Nothing" Nick replied with a casual grin, "see you grabbed yourself a new rifle, Charlie" Fang said pointing to the M4 in Redbone's arms,
He nodded "a good rifle never hurts, Fangmeyer" he said with a laugh, raising the rifle up as he spoke.
"You have any idea where we're going next, Charlie?" Nick suddenly asked, looking up.
Charlie looked at Nick, glancing back at Manson for a second and then at Nick again, "well, our intelligence says that Rouen's stronghold is only a few miles North from here, that's our next objective" Redbone explained with a nod.
He watched Manson glance at him as he said this, taking the cigar out of his mouth and blowing smoke out from it, giving him a subtle nod.
The grizzly bear approached the two now, "we don't know what we're dealing with just yet lads, so when we get there, we're not going in immediately" Manson said as he stepped beside Charlie.
Nick nodded across from them, "any chance the bastard is there?" He asked with anger in his voice.
"It'd be a good bet, but we can't be entirely sure . . ." Manson replied and suddenly stepped back.
"Alright, we're moving now, is everyone armed up?" Manson's question was met with multiple affirmations from Team One.
Redbone watched his superior look at him and nod "good, then let's go" he said before beginning to walk out.
"Well you heard the bear, let's get going" Nick said, walking in front of Charlie and towards the steps.
As the SWAT Team headed out of the armory, Charlie separated from them and walked over to Diego.
"Diego, Team One is done arming up, the SAS can go down there and pick their prizes" he said to the dire wolf as he pointed a thumb behind him at the door.
Diego smiled and nodded "rog, everybody! Get your arses over here! It's time to rearm!" he said walking over to the door.
Though the dire wolf spun around after a few seconds "oh, and tell the captain that we'll be done in a few minutes" he said, pointing a paw at him as Charlie nodded.
. . .
Smoke billowed out from Frederick Manson's cigar as he held it in between two large paw pads and blew smoke from his muzzle.
He eyed the door to the armory, waiting for the SAS teams to walk out rearmed and more ready to fight than ever.
"Checkpoint to Bravo Six, do you copy?" suddenly came from his radio, he was quick to grab it.
"Hard copy, what is it Adrian?" He asked into the radio as he blew smoke again.
"Fyodorov's compound is only a couple of miles away from your coordinates, that's your next objective" Adrian's voice spoke on the other end as Manson nodded.
"I'm aware, Adrian, what's going on?" he asked, now with suspicion, his friend wouldn't tell him something he already knew for no reason.
"Nothing, Price" Bogo tried to affirm, but it did nothing as Manson figured out, "are you worried?"
"Do you think Rouen will be there, Price?" Bogo suddenly asked with the worry he was suspecting.
"There's no telling whether Fyodorv has left yet or not, I'd say the odds are fifty fifty" Manson explained as he heard a sigh from the other end.
"And what if he isn't?" he asked concernedly on the other end, "then we'll sniff him out, Adrian, he has nowhere to go." Manson replied flatly.
"Alright, are you ready to go?" Bogo asked on the other end, just as the SAS began walking out of the armory.
"Afirm, we'll keep in contact" Manson said, getting up and walking over.
"Copy that Price, don't be a stranger" Bogo replied as Manson put his radio away.
"Alright! Everyone get in formation! We're leaving now!" He shouted loudly as all of the teams approached the end of the construction site.
He looked back at the SWAT and SAS teams behind him, making the gesture to move before they all began advancing northward.
AN: Hey hey everyone! Real real sorry about the very long wait for this chapter, but hopefully the fact that it's a long one is a bit redeeming! Don't worry, the action is definitely coming! This is really the middle of the story, so I've really gotta thank all of y'all who are reading this, and I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far! I should stop my blabbing now though, so until next time, love ya and appreciate ya!
