Danny and Stacie were at Eddies bar. Danny decided to get the drinks in while Stacie sat down nearby.

Eddie got the drinks and asked for £5.50. Danny was holding a £20 note. He went to give it to Eddie and then stopped. He turned round.

"Hey Stacie," he shouted over to her "you want some crisps or something?" Stacie shook her head. Danny turned round and handed the money over. Eddie put it in the till then gave Danny £14.50 change. Danny took it and put it in his pocket, picked up the drinks and grinned.

He thanked Eddie and took the drinks over and passed one to Stacie.

"You gave him a £10 note didn't you?" she smiled.

"Me?" Danny questioned "con Eddie?" He grinned.

They drank the drinks.

"So…what do you want to do now?" Stacie asked "I mean we still have a few hours to spare".

Danny grinned. Stacie shook her head. "No" she said before he had chance to say what he was thinking.

"Ok ok," Danny said "well what about a short con instead then?" Stacie thought about it and agreed.

"Lets try another classic con – like before!" Danny said. Stacie laughed.

"Alright then – I know how much you like them". They got up and walked out the bar. Danny started telling Stacie about a shop keeper from a few years back.

"I remember him saying once that the money is all that mattered"

"What happened then?"

"He threw me out the shop when I didn't buy anything".

He explained that the shop keeper was often like that towards people. All he wanted was the money.

After a while Danny stopped and pointed.

"That's the shop".

Stacie smiled again. "In that case – you know what to do".

Danny nodded and looked serious. "The con is on".

Stacie handed him something and he walked off towards the shop leaving her standing by herself.

Danny reached the shop and walked in.

He said hi as he walked up to the counter. He put a ring down and started spinning it round while looking at the back shelf behind the counter. Then he left the ring on the counter and turned round. He walked towards the back of the shop and disappeared round the corner.

At that moment Stacie walked in. She picked up some milk and went to pay. She noticed the ring and picked it up.

"Is this yours?" she asked before carrying on without giving the shop keeper time to answer "I'll buy it off you".

The shop keeper looked surprised. "It's worth a few hundred," Stacie continued and passed him a card "call me if you're interested". She paid for the milk and walked out.

A minute later Danny came back. He picked up the ring. "Can't forget this," he laughed "I really should stop taking it off". He put the ring on his finger and put a chocolate bar down on the counter. He searched through his pockets before sighing.

"I have no money – not even enough to buy this!" The shop keeper looked at him annoyed but then he smiled.

"Well…I'll buy that ring off you".

Danny looked surprised. "What this old thing?"

"Sure – I'll give you…say £100".

Danny looked at the shop keeper with a serious look on his face. "£100?"

The shop keeper nodded. Danny thought for a second and took the ring off his finger. He looked at it and placed it down on the counter. "Ok," he agreed "£100".

The shop keeper opened the till and gave him the money. "You can have the chocolate bar" he said smiling.

Danny smiled back, thanked him and walked out the shop. He met Stacie round the corner and showed her the £100.

"Well done" she said hugging him.

"So how much did you pay for that ring?" Danny asked.

"I found it when we were in the bar. It isn't worth anything". They both laughed.

"So how about another drink?" Danny said and then realised that Stacie was already walking off towards the bar. "Hey wait up" he shouted and ran after her.

They got to the bar and Stacie got the drinks in. They sat down and lifted their glasses. "Cheers".
