Chapter Thirty Six- A Wicked Reunion

Almost ten minutes after the ZPD left, a lone car rolled up to the border of the confinement zone, stopping at the gate.

After about thirty seconds, a wolf got out holding a pistol, they checked the post in front of the gate, and found nothing.

The gate was opened by that wolf in the guard post, before they dashed back over to their vehicle and drove through.

They were quickly followed by a line of other vehicles behind it, none of which were any kind of law enforcement.

As the convoy of cars stopped at the checkpoint, they pulled over and made way for the largest of them all.

An extensively modified semi-truck slowed down and parked in the large lot. On the trailer was a large steel shipping container, visibly fortified with thicker metal, making it largely bullet proof, and protecting the precious, highly toxic cargo inside.

The cab was small, but clearly had a decent amount of makeshift armor itself, which protected its occupants. The sleeper cab had been opened up, allowing extra seats behind the driver, and most importantly, a space for a turreted M134 Minigun on a roof hatch above the right rear seat.

The front windshield was fortified with steel wire mesh, and in the front of the monstrous vehicle was a large mounted ram that replaced the bumper, that was sure to make work of the ZPD's own vehicles.

The truck, by all standards, was a beast.

And it housed the black cat himself, Rouen Fyodorov.

. . .

Rouen Fyodorov's eyes scanned the checkpoint as his vehicle stopped in its tracks. The open lot was completely empty, no resistance at all, not even an officer was guarding the gates.

It wasn't what he was expecting in the slightest, and although it would've meant that he'd be able to retrieve the love of his life without having to make do of the officers guarding her, something about it didn't sit right with him.

Yet his face didn't show that, it was straight, calm and calculated, almost a frown.

He exited the truck, accompanied by two other mammals, his two right hand mammals, Maxwell and Maisie Balgir, and a wolf that went by the name Jason, who stayed inside on guard.

He stepped onto the pavement and looked at his mammals, "clear the perimeter. Any officer you find, kill them." He ordered coldly as he stood there for a moment.

It was immediately that he saw it, a large prison van parked on the other side of the lot, he gestured the mammals behind to follow him and began speedily rushing over.

Holding his M4 assault rifle in his paws, he ran over to the van and stopped at the back doors, ready to cut down any officer on the other side.

He saw her smile at him from the window of the prison van, as he walked over. He smiled back at her.

He grabbed the door and pulled on it, grumbling as it didn't budge, being locked from the inside.

Though Rouen wasn't going to let something like that stop him. He raised his rifle, aimed it at the lock and squeezed the trigger.

A singular five round burst echoed in the lot, yet the lock didn't break, which was expected, but it was still worth a shot.

The panther made a gesture with his paw for her to move away from the door.

Madelyn followed and turned away from the exit, already knowing well what he was going to do.

Rouen let his rifle fall to his side and pulled out an M320 grenade launcher from his side holster and pointed it at the back door of the prison van.

A short thumping sound was made as the grenade inside the weapon was fired, creating a small explosion as the door was blown open, thus the lock being completely destroyed.

Fyodorov holstered his grenade launcher and rushed to the doors with a swift run, he pried open the large gap from what remained of the doors with all of his might. The coyote on the other side stood up, and helped him by pushing from the other side.

A few moments later, the doors eventually gave in, the panther and coyote's eyes locking as they saw each other.

"Can you walk alright?" He asked tenderly.

"I can manage," Madelyn replied, her speech muffled by her muzzle.

"Come . . ." He said, gesturing for her to come to him.

Madelyn stepped from the back of the vehicle, and Rouen wrapped his arm around her as he aided his injured wife.

The two traveled onto the pavement and made their way to the giant truck, he assisted his wife in climbing into the cab, the wolf, Jason, who was still inside aiding them as well.

"Get her out of these constraints," Rouen ordered Jason, who nodded in response.

He checked the outside again, and again saw nothing, he lowered his weapon to his hip and slammed the side of the truck loudly.

"LET'S FANG IT!"

It indicated the driver of the truck, a honey badger by the name of Mitchell, to start pulling away.

The badger instantly put the truck into gear and applied gentle pressure to the throttle, while Maisie ascended the mounted minigun, and Max leaned out of the window.

As the truck moved, the rest of the convoy followed them. It consisted of varying vehicles, trucks, vans, suburbans, civilian vehicles that were all modified with makeshift armor.

He turned to his wife in the cab, who was now seated and leaning against the wall. It had only been a moment, but Jason had already freed Madelyn of her muzzle, yet her plastic paw cuffs still remained and dug harshly into her fur.

In a second, Rouen reached over and took out his freshly sharpened karambit, Madelyn's very first and most important gift to him.

He instantly began cutting at the plastic, carefully due to the rocking of the truck. In a couple of seconds the blade cut through, finally freeing the coyote's paws.

She began to massage her wrists in pain, while Rouen affectionately placed a paw on her shoulder.

"How do you feel?" he asked tenderly.

"I got shot, how do you think I feel?" She said back.

"Then I'll make them pay," he said with anger, as Madelyn placed her paw on his shoulder.

"Thank you for getting me"

"Well I wasn't going to leave you" Rouen smiled warmly, "I couldn't've lived with myself if I did . . . You're my whole world Maddie"

"-And you are mine," Madelyn returned with a smile.

The two leaned into each other, to share a quick, yet tender kiss.

Rouen then looked away and turned to the wolf, who had been looking away from their private moment.

"Jason…" He caught his attention with the use of his name, ". . . Fix her up for me."

"Right boss"

"Be careful," Madelyn warned as Rouen moved to the front.

"Don't worry, this'll all be over soon" he stopped and looked at her, placing his paw on her shoulder again.

"I promise you, that fox and bunny that hurt you will be hanging on our wall…"

. . .

Behind Rouen and his wife, multiple cars over, in a red pickup truck followed as part of the convoy, and in the back seat, was one particular red fox.
