Domestic Mornings

(AN: This is the first fan fiction that I had written and the only one that I have let anyone read. I wrote this two years ago after my Grandfather passed away because I wanted something that would take my mind off of events for a few moments. I intended to make this longer but decided I liked it as it was, a little bit of the boys domestic lives. Please feel free to tell me what you think. I could not make the ending sound decent so any suggestions would be loved! Oh, I do not have a beta… I am sure you can tell! )

Blair Sandburg woke up feeling more refreshed than he had that whole month. Between getting ready for finals for the classes that he took and the ones he taught, term papers that he had to write and grade, tests to take and to proctor and grades to report not to mention the times he had spent at the department helping Jim with massive caseloads, huge mounds of paperwork and helping his partner with his sentinel abilities, Blair had not had much time to relax, eat or sleep. Pushing himself over the edge was a life style the 28 year old grad student/TA/police observer had perfected over the years but there were times that he reached even his limits.

Blair never let anyone at the University or at the Department see that his overabundant seemingly endless energy reserves did in fact have an end, anyone except Jim that is.

Blair yawned and looked at his new alarm clock, new because three mornings ago Blair every five minutes keep hitting the snooze button which had made the sentinel a bit aggravated at his partner's reluctance to get up and the unfortunate alarm clock found itself in little pieces on the hardwood floor.

7:00 am, Time to get up. Blair thought as he bounced out of bed yawning and stretching one more time before heading to the bathroom for a quick shower.

After his invigorating morning shower which featured Blair's vocal "talents" he walked to the living room and saw Jim starting to come down the stairs.

"Morning, Jim… I was thinking about making pancakes for breakfast, how does that sound?"

Jim Ellison studied his partner for a minute. This is different. He thought. "What's up with you, Chief? You are not what I would call a morning person."

Blair frowned a little at his friends comment. It was true he was usually grumpy in the morning but Jim did not have to point that fact out.

"Yeah, yeah… I just got a good night sleep for a change, man. No papers, no tests, no grades, not anything that usually keeps me up all night." He said with a smile as he looked up at the big detective.

"Well, that's great news Chief. I noticed you seemed to be running on empty for a while." Detective Jim Ellison had started to get worried about his young friend and hoping that he would not end up taking the younger man to the hospital for rest. Taking, hmm… more like dragging him kicking and screaming. The older man thought while fighting the urge to laugh at the image of the anthropologist kicking and screaming all the way into the emergency room.

Blair noticed the small chuckles from his friend. Deciding it would be best not to ask Blair went to the kitchen and started to make the pancakes. Jim set the table as Blair prepared the meal. The two men ate in silence enjoying each others company. When they were finished the two men set their plates in the sink deciding to wait until later that evening before cleaning them. Walking out the door the two men, after a pleasant morning, looked forward to the day ahead.
