Chapter III:

Roarke Morris couldn't believe what had just heard. The men he had sent to the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch were all dead. He thought sending all of those gunmen to the ranch would finally see the Ranch belonging to Market Equities. The one thing he didn't count on was Kody Dutton saving Kayce then the two brothers plus Rip Wheeler saving the ranch. He knew all about the other Dutton children but he knew next to nothing about Kody Dutton. He touched the intercom button and said, "Set up a meeting with Attorney General Jamie Dutton immediately and get me everything on Kody Dutton."

His secretary replied, "Yes Mr. Morris."

He thanked her and went back to formulating a strategy.

Across town in the office of Attorney General Jamie Dutton his secretary was telling him of the attacks on his family and the Yellowstone. He was about to say something when his phone began to ring. He picked it up and said, "Hello."

Morris's secretary said, "Mr. Roarke Morris CEO of Market Equities would like to meet as soon as possible."

Jamie said, "How does 30 minutes sound."

She replied, "That is excellent sir; would you like to meet in your office or his?"

Jamie said, "Tell him we'll meet in his office. I'm leaving now."

And with that he hung up and left.

30 minutes later Jamie walked into Morris's office and asked, "What can I do for you Mr. Morris?"

Roarke asked, "Does it bother you what I've done to your family or that I'm trying to take your ranch?"

Jamie locked eyes with him as he replied, "Not in the slightest. They aren't really my family. Just people who I was forced to live with. And as far as the ranch goes; you can have it or destroy I really don't give a shit."

Roarke had a broad grin on his face as he said, "Shall we begin then."

Kody was sleeping when suddenly he heard the door open and heard someone sit down. He cracked open one eye and much to his amazement saw Angela Blue Thunder sitting across from him. He asked, "Why are you here?"

She replied, "You intrigue me."

He snarked, "I'm all tingly inside just knowin' that."

She smirked slightly as she asked, "What made you do it?"

He quirked a scarred brow, "your gonna have to be a bit more specific sweetheart."

She clarified, "Jumping on a horse and charging the men that hat had invaded your ranch. Weren't you scared even a little bit?"

He chuckled mirthlessly as he replied, I laugh at danger. No seriously I didn't think bout it just reacted."

She asked, "If the tribe comes for your ranch?"

He had a fiery look in his eyes as he seethed, "I'll kill every one of you. There will be no tribe anymore."

She had encountered a lot of dangerous maybe even deadly men White and Native alike during the course of her life and she thought Kody was by far the most dangerous and perhaps the deadliest. While Beth would ruin you publicly and decimate your life Kody would kill you and lay utter ruin to everything you held dear. Angela was unsure of which of the Dutton children were more dangerous but she would bet even money that it was Kody. She asked, "Once you get out of here what's the play?"

Before he could reply Beth sashayed into the room. She glared at Angela and demanded, "Why are you here?"

Angela replied, "I just came to see how he was doing?"

Beth fixed her with a hard stare and asked, "Why do you care?"

Angela told her what she had told Kody. Beth scoffed, "He intrigues you huh; why?"

Angela replied, "Because he is the single most dangerous person I've ever encountered; that's why."

Beth rolled her eyes and smirked as she sneered, "Alright you fed your little fetish now fuck off. We don't need or want you here."

Angela said, "Soon you'll realize you need us."

And with that she was gone. Once she was gone Beth took her seat and asked her favorite little brother, "How are you."

Kody replied, "I'm ready to get the hell outta here; have some real food, a shower and a smoke."

Beth teased him, "You're not enjoying the sponge baths."

He rolled his eyes as he sard sarcastically, "I might if any of the nurses were hot in any way."

Beth burst out laughing; this was one of the main reasons Kody was her favorite. The fact that he could always make her laugh. They were still chuckling when Rip walked in. He took in the scene and was pleased to see Bet genuinely smiling and laughing. He knew that it could be very dangerous to let those two plan the strategy for neither one of them had any problem waging total warfare; much like him. But he knew Kayce, Monica and the hands had a problem with the total warfare scorched earth strategy. And John well John fell somewhere in the middle. He asked, "What's so funny?"

When Beth told him he laughed as well. Kody snapped, "Alright y'all have had-"

He was interrupted as Tate tore into the room and went right for Kody. Kody looked at his nephew and asked you been keepin' everybody in line pardner?"

Tate said, "We're all worried about you; I thought you had died."

Kody saw the grief-stricken look on his nephew's face and felt his heart crumble and with a great amount of pain and great difficulty he pulled his nephew onto his lap as he said softly yet firmly, "Listen up nephew; I'm fine I just got hurt but I'll always be here for you and to teach you all the shit your momma and daddy won't."

Then he pulled the boy in for a tight hug and whispered into his ear I love you."

Tate replied as Kayce and Monica walked in, "I love you too Uncle Kody."

Then Kody had Tate get off of him as he said, "I'm countin' on you to keep this lot reined in till I get better okay partner?"

Tate had a huge grin on his face as he rejoined his parents and said, "You can count on me."

All the adults were astonished at how such a rough and dangerous character like Kody could go from being like that to being soft and gentle with Monica or Tate. Before she took Tate home Monica kissed Kody on the cheek as she said, "Get better soon we need you at the ranch."

Kody really liked Monica she was just the person to settle his twin brother down. In fact, he was slightly envious of Kayce but he pushed all of that aside as he said, "Thanks. Be safe."

She nodded as her and Tate left. Once they were gone Kody asked, "Has anyone heard from Jamie?"
